Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the complimentary breakfast and easy access to local amenities. However, some guests have complained about thin walls, parking charges, and minor issues with room cleanliness.

One night stay but clean, comfortable and convenient.
- 4/5
The room was comfortable. Great shower! Good breakfast! The valet situation is strange? But everyone was helpful and nice
- 3.5/5
The white light was awful, id much rather softer orange light. In addition, I'm not sure the "face soap" provided in the bathroom is sterile as it was our only option for a "sterile" hand soap.
- 4/5
One elevator wasn’t working and wait to go up and down was long at times
- 4/5
Property itself was fine. The room was fine. The only thing that I had a problem with was the fact that there was one elevator out of order which meant only one elevator was working, so checking in wasn’t terrible but when it was time to check out, we had to wait for the elevator for a very long time before before we can even even go down and basically had to miss breakfast because even even though we were gonna be down in time since it took so long for the elevator to get us and bring all of our stuff down, we missed all the food and so unfortunately, it seems like we missed out on the amenity of having a free breakfast and then we also missed out on having what we thought would be an easy checkout and leaving the hotel room and then proceeded to need to stand in the elevator hallway for about 15 to 20 minutes if not almost a half hour before there was enough room for us to get on an elevator and bring all of our stuff down that we had.

Great hotel all around - location was great and close to restaurants and walking distance from everything.
- 4/5
Elevator was very slow, one may not have been working
- 4/5
Nice hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, shower was good. Busy elevators, breakfast as expected with nice choices of hot and cold. Overall a nice place to stay. Didn't realize parking was $20, so that was a bit of surprise in such a small city, but not a horrible charge.
- 5/5
The location, the cleanliness, the staff The breakfast wasn’t good enough
- 5/5

- 3/5
Good options on breakfast counter. Rooms are clean , decent area around hotel
- 5/5
We stay here everytime we travel through Albany, and we've never been disappointed!
- 5/5
The location is perfect. We were in Albany for a concert at the Palace Theatre. The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants and to the theatre. We didn't need our car at all during our staff. The staff was very courteous and professional. We'll definitely stay there again next time we travel to Albany.
- 4/5
I would have given it a five out of five but nowhere did I see and nor was I told there is no parking there and you have to pay a valet $20 a night to park
- 3/5
Didn't know there was a $20 charge for parking. You could also hear other hotel guests in the next room. Also hear alot of slamming doors whwn trying to sleep.
- 5/5
Un sans fautes
- 5/5
Room was clean and location was nice. For the reasonable price, it was a great stay and would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Yes!
- 4/5
We had to switch rooms due to a leaking shower. Somehow it was leaking into the room. Additionally the shower was “handicap” accessible but also sprayed water all over the bathroom floor. However they immediately moved us upon complaint.
- 3/5
This trip was to attend a ocnference. I would return here again, but it is not efficient to have 1 elevator working. There were several events happening at the same time, and there were delays. Breafkast was good and enjoyed the water station avaiable 24/7. The staff made a world of a difference.
- 5/5
My room was clean and very accommodating. Staff resolved an issue with the television right away. The free breakfast and coffee around the clock is a big perk.
- 5/5
Great breakfast. Clean rooms. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

- 3/5
The room was nice but we weren’t aware it had a door to the room next to it. I could see shadows under the door and hear them clearly. That was very off putting. Especially when I paid extra and upgraded to a suite for more room and privacy.
- 5/5
Was clean, nice.
- 4/5
The staff were excellent, very kind & helpful. The hotel was very clean. Our only qualm was that the pillows & mattress were uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Concert venue was basically across the street. Super convenient .
- 5/5
Easy check in and out. Convenient included breakfasts.

Other guests were offered a discount card for the resturant on the premises. Other guests were offered courtesy water bottles.

- 5/5
Room was perfect for what we needed. It was so close to the concert. So we could relax before the show and get back safely after the show. I appreciated the valet parking! They were excellent!
- 5/5
The room was clean and modern. Staff was friendly. The valet parking was easy and convenient. Very efficient. The breakfast was very good too!
- 5/5
Lobby and seemingly many of the rooms recently renovated. Free breakfast in the morning. Good, not great, but definitely an added value. Coffee in the lobby all day.
- 4/5
The initial room we were given did not have heat. The maintenance person promptly replaced the thermostat but it did not fix the issue. The hotel then changed our rooms and we had a sound and warm nights sleep. Beautiful lobby and delicious breakfast.

Richard was the best!
- 3/5
Not our best stay here (we’ve stayed several times before). No hand soap in the room, conditioner empty in the shower. Coffee was cold and bad tasting. We went out for breakfast
- 3/5
Lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas. The staff were kind. Carpet was old in the bedroom and either the boxspring was broken or the mattress was very old. Rolled to the center.
- 5/5
Great!!!
- 5/5
Great stay, thermostat broke and hotel was very accommodating with finding another room. Festive decorations and very clean.
- 5/5
The hotel itself was nice and the location was perfect, with great restaurants within walking distance. However, the breakfast wast terrible. The scrambled eggs tastes watery and didn’t resemble real eggs at all. The turkey sausage tasted like cardboard and the pork patty was full of gristle rather than actual meat. I ended up having to go out for breakfast instead.
- 5/5
There room alwas claen and comfortable. The check in went smooth and the clerk was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of options to choose from.
- 5/5
Lovely place in middle of everything

The staff was friendly, accommodating and the room was clean with a great smell.
- 5/5
The breakfast menu was fresh. The eployees were pleasent and professional.
- 5/5
It was clean and the staff took care of me from the minute I arrived
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff! Enjoyed our stay!!
- 4/5
Room was clean and the staff was very nice. But the $30.00 charge for parking was extreme!!! I walk farther to my vehicle at my own residence. Do not think valee parking is nessesary at that hotel.
- 2/5
Room wasn’t clean up to standards. Cup left on floor by corner of bed. Black cigar gut like leavings on bed and in bathroom. Staff were pleasant and professional.
- 5/5
clean room great breakfast
- 5/5
Staff was great. Room is spotless and clean.
- 5/5
Very clean room and the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Nice breakfast buffet with lots of fresh food choices. Attached restaurants with bar and great food. Valet parking available is very convenient as street parking would have been a challenge. Excellent experience!
- 5/5
Great experience
- 3/5
The breakfast was good, the room was beautiful and big. Cons Parking is not free whether there is a valet or not The button to adjust the temperature in the room was broken
- 2/5
The elevator stopped working on Friday morning. In order to get breakfast, go to my meeting and bring all my luggage and supplies to my car, I had to use the stairs. It was very difficult for me because I was on the 7th floor and have problems with my knees. The staff kept telling me that the elevator was fixed when it was not working. They couldn’t even tell me when it would be fixed.
- 4/5
Breakfast variety was wonderful! Hotel convienent to empire live. Normal standards for room. Didnt see any staff while staying, but thats okay. Would stay again for the location
- 2/5
Receptionist was not a friendly and pleasant as I have had in other hotels and the room was stark in comparison to others.
- 5/5
Excellent hospitality from the staff. We had an emergency at our home and couldn't stay the night, so booked at the last minute. In my frazzled state with two young kiddos, I felt cared for and welcomed by the front desk clerk and a hospitality staff who both assisted me.

- 5/5
Spent a great night, very comfortable bed and room. Breakfast the usual but a nice big area to eat in. Great eats at the nearby (ask the front desk) Irish pub, McGeary's.

They need to provide room service every day.

They to provide room service every day.

I was so satisfied with everything about my stay
- 5/5
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Albany for Parent Weekend at my son’s college. Hotels near campus were booked, so we chose this one about 15 minutes away, and it turned out great. Parking is valet only (it’s downtown, so that makes sense), and the valet staff was excellent—my car was always ready, and they never charged for parking. I just tipped them, and they were fantastic. At check-in, we met Richard at the front desk, and he’s the reason this review is five stars. He’s professional, friendly, and really goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. He reminded us about the complimentary breakfast (6–10 a.m.), which was very good. Every time we passed by, he greeted us with a smile and asked how our stay was going. The room was clean and comfortable, a bit small but nice overall. The bathroom was spotless. No microwave and limited space for clothes, but nothing that would stop me from staying again. It’s a pet-friendly hotel, and everything felt organized and safe. I’d rate the hotel itself a solid 4, but Richard and the staff make it a full 5 stars. If management reads this—Richard deserves a raise!
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Very clean and very convenient
- 5/5
Great Hampton as always
- 5/5
Very nice place, slept well
- 5/5
One of the elevators was not working and made for longer weights.
- 5/5
The room was very clean with comfortable beds.

- 3/5
Room had just a tiny window, prety claustrophobic. Mattress was terrible.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed the restaurant, food was great and atmosphere was very nice!
- 5/5
We needed an early check-in and they were able to accommodate that. Nice and clean and friendly staff.

No complaints - very easy - staff was so helpful and kind - all good~

Do not stay here! We showed up to a lady eating out of the garbage can by the front door and two homeless people begging for money while we are packing in luggage. Very sad situation, but made me feel unsafe as they were very persistent. The parking was full at the hotel so they told us we have to find street parking. We had to walk over a mile to the hotel from the only parking we could find and worry about our car all night. The ceiling in my room was crumbling and falling apart. Night staff was very rude when I told him I had a service dog (I added my dog to my reservation so they were notified prior.) He gave me a speech on how I’m going to get kicked out of hotel if he hears my dog. It’s a service dog so very well trained. Morning staff were nice and friendly. Hotel was dirty and falling apart. Wouldn’t even want my dog to stay here again let alone a human
- 5/5
yes
- 2/5
Staff was very friendly but the room smelled like either dog or cig smoke, and the AC was noisy and didn't work well.
- 5/5
We were impressed with the ease of checking in, the parking with valet offered and the ease of checking out plus great location!
- 5/5
Clean bathroom, walk-in shower, spacious room.
- 5/5
Good breakfast
- 5/5
Very friendly welcoming valet and desk staff made me feel very welcomed back.
- 5/5
I went to see a concert at the Palace which had additional restaurant opportunities within a 2 block radius from the Hampton Inn. My handicap suite was so spacious and accommodating. Wonderful modular couch allowed me to read Shakespeare 's Julius Cesar while hubby worked remotely on computer at the inhouse work space. Front desk staff provided us with menus to order late night dinner from local Italian restaurants. Soho pizza delivered a humongous Chicken Parm sub and chips for two along with a delicious Carrot cake. We quenched our thirst with cold drinks as we retired to our cozy bed to see the New England Patriots hand our beloved Buffalo Bills there first loss of the season. The next morning after taking a luxurious shower and getting dressed, hubby and I helped ourselves to the smorsgboard of breakfast entrees with hot steaming coffee and orange juice. Generous parking and safe accommodations. Will definitely visit hotel on my next journey.
- 5/5
They absolutely AMAZING 😍 the guy on front desk !! He gave me a upgrade Suite!!! I mean a SUITE.. !! I didn't pay a dime extra..!! He made my trip even better
- 3/5
The breakfast has declined significantly since last we stayed in a Hampton pre-Covid. A lot more processed foods - some quite suspicious ones - and who puts corn syrup on waffles ? We won't choose to stay in a Hampton again.
- 5/5
Clean and friendly staff very convenient location
- 3/5
Paid for valet parking which was not valet. The valet handed me my keys and told me where I would find my car in the parking lot. Hallway smelt musty. Room was clean, but the bed was not comfortable.
- 5/5
Even during an Albany power outage the staff was courteous and on board to meet everyone’s needs. Parking was available and staffed. We were very pleased with our stay.
- 5/5
Perfect walking distance to venue. Free hot breakfast buffet and room was clean!
- 5/5
the property and the room were well maintained and comfortable.
- 5/5
Reasonable hotel great for the value.
- 5/5
Great location, safe neighborhood close to the train station and restaurants!!!
- 5/5
The staff were outstanding
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very clean and modern. Breakfast offers many items, much more than we've seen at other buffets. Definitely recommend!
- 3/5
Usually enjoy staying at Hampton by Hilton however for a city centre hotel this was disappointing. Housekeeping was poor, beds not made properly, towels badly stained and facecloths looked like floor cloths. Supervisor on reception (lady) quite rude and abrupt. Breakfast offer well below Hampton standard, same offer for 3 days, no fresh fruit, or as mgr juice ran out as did coffee and practically had to beg for replacements. All in all not good value.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Our 10th floor suite was very spacious. Comfortable bed & great TV (with YouTube). Shower hot water bit of a trap abd I burnt my feet! Yonos Brasserie Restaurant is excellent. Don't like Valet Parking. Bit of a nuisance! Breakfast awful. American high sugar, high fat, low fibre food!
- 5/5
Staff is nice and friendly, check in was fast and the hotel room is very clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
One night. Clean. Nice staff. No hot water in the shower which was awful.
- 5/5
Check-in was seamless and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Lobby and rooms were very clean. Very close walk to show venues and bars and restaurants. Overall a great experience.
- 4/5
Good breakfast buffet daily
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet
- 5/5
The front desk was very helpful and accommodated our unique needs. Beautiful hotel with delicious breakfast.
- 3/5
I didn’t like that we had to pay for Valet parking. It should be included with the hotel stay. It was so crowded waiting for a valet worker to come take everyone’s ticket to get their car. Also the breakfast was not good. The sausages did not look cooked fully and the eggs were runny and wet. And for as big as this hotel is, why is there only one waffle maker? We had to stand on line to wait to make a waffle because it was crowded with only one waffle maker. My room didn’t have a microwave in it. Wasn’t to happy with my stay this time.
- 5/5
We stayed for 3 nights - easy access for getting around town and enoying our vacation.
- 5/5
Great place to stay if you are seeing a show at the Palace. Staff is wonderful, especially Amanda.
- 4/5
One of the best restaurants in the area adjoins the hotel but be prepared to open your wallet wide.
- 5/5
All around great.
- 1/5
The front desk staff is terrible. We arrived at 12:30 and door was locked. We ring for 5 minutes finally he let got in. Then the staff is rude telling us to wait for 10 minutes because he needs to reboot the system. We have never experienced this kind of condition at a hotel. Very disappointing.
- 5/5
Perfect location for us to attend our event at the Palace Theater. Excellent hotel.
- 3/5
We could hear people talking in the other rooms, hear closing doors etc very loudly.
- 4/5
Night life was mediocre. Most places close 10 or 11pm on a Saturday night
- 3/5
Good location. Property is a little tired but the staff are pleasant. We did ask for the bathroom amenities to be refilled and extra towels but they never came after 3 requests. Breakfast is typical fare and plentiful. Coffee, tea and iced water are available all day which is wonderful.
- 5/5
Very nice. Staff was super helpful and responisve to requests. Very clean and comfortable room. Great breakfast options.
- 4/5
Room was supposed to be cleaned after 2 days but never happened....thermostate not working but I never complained
- 4/5
Close to great local restaurants & pubs.
- 3/5
No washer or dryer, no business center if you need to print something. I was there 5 days and they only brought clean linens twice and I had to ask for the second time.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was so nice!
- 5/5
The staff were super pleasant and helpful. So many great things in walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
- 2/5
My Nike hoodie was stolen out of the room and no investigation was conducted other than checking the lock.
- 5/5
We had a great stay
- 4/5
Lovely clean establishment downtown Albany
- 5/5
Friendly. Helpful.
- 5/5
Great stay lots of eateries , close to concert venue
- 5/5
Great spot. Breakfast was great
- 5/5
I’ve been to Albany once before, so I knew what to expect in the surrounding area. I was impressed with the quality and service I received at Hampton Inn. The room was cool and dark, perfect for sleeping. The breakfast was consistent and delicious with good options. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
- 5/5
totally great
- 5/5
Good selection breakfast no gym
- 4/5
The Staff was wonderful; location was great and the breakfast was awesome.
- 1/5
The hotel is located in a sketchy neighborhood. Though it is clearly being rebuilt and upgraded, the general feeling is one of unsafe.
- 4/5
Centrally located with a small walk to many restaurants. Nice and clean, staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Pretty upscale place beds were hard but clean, easy self check in option and check out, dont have to worry about random people being in the building need a key card to acess any of the elevators.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
This was a perfect overnight stay on our road trip. It was comfortable and most importantly clean!
- 2/5
Our 9th floor room was next to the elevator shaft. It was noisy through about midnight. Also breakfast was poor.
- 4/5
The breakfast had plastic utensils, which is not very sustainable and the reason I gave 4 stars. The hotel overall is nice and clean with the exception of the elevators. Also, there is a carpet everywhere. The location is very central. Walking distance to most attractions. The staff is very nice.
- 4/5
Hotel seemed very centrally located however, no true convenience stores exist nearby for a quick haul of bottled water/snacks (although the hotel does offer that at concierge). When we called down for extra bath towels & bedding for the pull out sofa bed we were told to come down to the lobby rather than the hotel sending someone up with those items. We did have the whirlpool room which was spacious, beds were comfortable, room was clean. It is worn in some spots like the decor (water stained hanged pictures; drooping wooden “floating” towel shelves in the bathroom; curtains off hooks/torn at the top). Breakfast was crowded in spurts but was available. Overall pleasant stay.
- 3/5
I needed to cancel a night reservation due to change is work schedule. I was informed of not being able to receive a refund and nothing else could be done.
- 1/5
I didn’t like that I got charged for the hotel room twice. Neither Expedia or Hampton Inn is taking responsibility for a refund so now I’ve paid over $600 for for one rundown hotel room. I will be disputing the charges with my credit card company.
- 5/5
Clean room and good breakfast
- 5/5
I frequent this hotel when attending shows at the Palace Theater or Empire Live. Very comfortable stay at a great location!
- 5/5
Close to restaurants and reflecting pools.
- 5/5
Great stay friendly people.
- 5/5
Very good and Relaxing
- 5/5
Only issue, there was no clock.
- 4/5
Was quick trip but decent hotel
- 5/5
Great location! Nice rooms, spacious. Good food options nearby
- 4/5
Need to make sure to have on the website that only 1 parking spot per room and that you have to pay for it it's not included that was the only thing that was a large inconvenience when 3 of us staying showed up from different areas and had to find parking and then when I went inside only to find out I had to pay to park at the hotel. A heads up would have just been helpful
- 5/5
Although we had a slight issue with the cleanliness of the bedsheets and clog bathtub on the first room that was assigned, the issue was resolved immediately and very satisfied after that. Staff are friendly and very helpful.
- 5/5
Very nice. I recommend
- 3/5
The room was clean, but nothing special.
- 4/5
Could have been cleaner in the room
- 1/5
. For starters they didn’t have the room we had booked online. We asked for two queen size beds and a sofa bed for our family. They only had one king and a sofa bed. We asked the front desk for another room and they were not able to make the change. The sofa bed mattress was dirty and stained. I don’t recommend this hotel.
- 3/5
dirty
- 5/5
It was friendly
- 4/5
Stayed for event at palace theatre. Perfect location- walkable.
- 4/5
Nice that they have restaurants right there in the hotel and across the street.
- 3/5
Shower had black mold in it. We just didn’t use the shower, should have said something but I didn’t and we decided to just not shower. Other that that, it was a nice stay. Breakfast was great and the area was very walkable with lots of dining options around.
- 5/5
My only issue was that the lobby was freezing. The air conditioning was on yet it was chilly outside. The front desk personal did not have the authority to turn it down. We spent a lot of time in the lobby with the children, playing card etc, just way to cold.
- 4/5
Staffs were nice but extra charge not sure why
- 5/5
Very clean, great service, awesome bar!
- 2/5
Also, the room's hot water was limited to how hot you could have it. If you like taking semi hot showers, this is the hotel for you. On a positive note, it's close to a lot of restaurants, and has a free breakfast.
- 3/5
We checked into our room and left to go to our friends room. When we were walking by our room door was open and a man was standing in there. He says he was doing maintenance to our cable. I don’t understand why the front desk wouldn’t have mentioned that. We had just checked in not long before this happened I understand that things come up but I would’ve liked to been prepared. I left my purse out in plain sight which I would not have if I knew someone would be letting themselves into our room. Also the AC stopped working during the night.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
$20 a night for valet parking, which is just a desk person moving an orange cone, and showing you a spot to park in. If you’re there for a weekend, on street parking is free after 5pm Friday-Sunday, but finding a spot is not an easy task, you gotta be quick and ready when a spot comes open. Other than the parking issues, we would definitely stay there again!

The front desk woman was kind but the lack of flexibility that the facility had with changing my room was frustrating. even though I tried changing my room days in advance before my stay. parking was an absolute nightmare as well d/t construction in the parking lot. that was once i could find the parking lot because it had no signage that it was for the hotel.

Staff was excellent. Helpful, friendly, efficient. Room was ridiculous. Huge, barren, cold. Main complaint was price. $458 per night. Should have been in the $250K range at best.

The hotel is very clean, the beds were very comfortable. Richard, at the front desk was extremely helpful. He even ensured I was in a pet free room due to my allergies. I would definitely stay here again.

They won’t check me in. They say that I don’t have a number.
