Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at this hotel, appreciating its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and helpful staff. However, there are recurring issues with the hotel's amenities, such as parking, breakfast availability, and room maintenance.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Limited parking and additional charge
- Inconsistent breakfast availability and quality
- 5/5
Good location and value.
- 4/5
It took so long to check in as a group of kids decided to descend upon the snack bar and the one desk clerk had to ring them up. That was a turn off since we were tired and just wanted to get to bed
- 5/5
great place to stay we really enjoyed the property
- 5/5
Robin was fantastic! I was having a bad day of travel and she went above and beyond to make it better. My stay was restful.
- 5/5
Great place! Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Ideally located to Old Town Alexandria, VA. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly
- 5/5
Nice stay and close to the yellow line metro!
- 3/5
Very helpful with giving suggestions about the area . Our room smelled and the air conditioner moaned loudly all night . When I spoke with the girl at the front desk in the morning her reply was OK .. then I asked about where the metro and what line it was, she was very Kurt and just pointed and said that way ! 15.00 for 2 coffees and no GF options for breakfast. Location was good.
- 5/5
The staff was great!!!!! William, Robin, Dan and Jordan were very professional, and great to enjoy our time in Virginia!

Great staff
- 5/5
Location was fine
- 2.5/5
I was very disappointed with the experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s attitude was unwelcoming and unprofessional. Instead of making guests feel comfortable they were sarcastic and repeatedly rude during our interactions. The hotel itself may have some positive aspects but the behaviour of one member of the staff significantly affected our overall experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional training to its employees as guests deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy.
- 3.5/5
Before booking I knew we had to pay for parking stayed 2 nights $20 a night $40 all together. My card got charged $60 when I went to the front desk to for clarity I was met with coldness and felt like I was being a bother. Not even a “Hi how can I help you” just a “Hi” AFTER I had to say hi first. I didn’t even get an answer as to why I was charged for an extra night for parking.
- 4/5
First time at this location and I'm happy with the stay. The room was clean. The staff was very nice and pleasant. I will be back and stay again.
- 5/5
The room was very comfortable and clean. Property itself very well maintained. Only critique, would be nice to have breakfast complementary.
- 4/5
I liked the way front desk Robin treated us very kind
- 5/5
Clean and nice staff. Very comfortable here!
- 2/5
I am not staying this place again. They did have body wash and the coffee cups cover it didn't fit to the cup. As I am checking out I inform the front desk agent he didn't do anything. Disappointed.
- 5/5

;(
- 4/5
Clean and up to date. Good service even late at night. A little worn around the edges and not really walkable due to busy roads, would stay again if needed
- 3/5
The room was clean, check in was quick and easy but they need to upgrade the AC. Your only options is OFF or Auto. However the thermostat did not read the room temperature correctly so we were unable to sleep because we was burning up. I tired to turn it all the way for the AC to kick in but it did not work. I reported it first thing in the morning and did not have the best experience with the front desk but the manager was very respectful and understanding.
- 5/5
Staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Super helpful staff. Bistro was perfect for a late bite. Location near metro was perfect.
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable. Staff was professional and pleasant.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. The bike path was quiet, safe, and perfect for walking or riding, with convenient scooter rentals available along the path as well. The hotel is also within walking distance of Wegmans, which was a huge plus for us. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, making our experience even better.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Staff was nice, room clean and nice view of the city from my room.
- 5/5
Very clean & staff very polite & professional
- 1/5
Have bites on arms from possible bed bugs. And staff didn’t want to give us new towels when we requested them. We had to ask several times to receive new towels.
- 5/5
The room was the perfect mix of cozy and functional. It wasn’t just "clean"—it actually felt fresh. The bed was like sleeping on a literal cloud; I’m pretty sure I got the best night’s sleep I’ve had in months. Plus, the little details, like the high-quality coffee in the room and the Wi-Fi was ok. The location was also spot on. It was tucked away enough to be quiet at night, but close enough that I could wander out and find great food and things to do within minutes. Whether you’re here to get some work done or just want a solid home base while you explore, this place nails it. I’ll definitely be booking here again next time I’m in town!
- 5/5
It was in a great location and rooms were clean.
- 2/5
Proximity to downtown Alexandria Comfortable bed We were told because we added a day at the beginning that we would have to check out the next day and check back in so I called the front desk in the morning before leaving to go site seeing to see if we could stay in the same room or had to move but got no answer. So we moved all of our stuff to our car. When we returned another front desk clerk said there was no reason to move out that they always just keep you in the same room. The next morning a worker tried to enter our room at 0600 and then again at 0630, saying no one was supposed to be in that room. When we returned from our day out our key card wouldn’t work- this happened every day. We went to the desk and the clerks were nice and apologized but the manager was never available to talk to us. They never tried to make things right. We paid a lot to stay there. Half the time one of the elevators didn’t work right. The one time I wanted room service no one did it. We stayed 4 nights. I don’t like to waste staffs time making my bed and giving me new towels so my expectations are not set high. We would have just liked to have been treated right!
- 5/5
Great service and everything
- 5/5
Awesome hotel very clean quiet location friendly staff overall great experience
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
I tried the bistro bar during happy hour, and the one staff member working was doing it all by himself. The food was good and the cocktails were just okay. Overall, I’d stay here again for a quick overnight trip.
- 5/5
Very nice, clean, quiet, well maintain hotel with excellent staff.
- 5/5
Great location!

Clean room
- 4/5
Room was very clean.
- 5/5
Room was nice , we ubered into town for dinner came back and stopped in the bar for a drink and watched a hockey game. Very friendly atmosphere and people. It was a good price and close to mt vernon
- 1.5/5
No microwave in room, only 1 elevator works out of 3, Receptionist don’t have any knowledge what they are doing, the don’t have knowledge about rooms, booking anything
- 4/5
The breakfast food was nice and fresh.
- 2/5
Rooms outdated, they charge yoy for everything, parking, wifi, breakfast. First time i have a bad experience in a Marriot hotel. Our group was more than 50 people all together; i wws expecting to get a better service, taking in consideration my membership.
- 3.5/5
The room had a funny smell
- 3/5
We checked in on a Thursday night and didn't feel welcomed at all. Our room was missing a luggage rack in the closet and after numerous request finally got one dirty wooden rack. The room smelled of dogs and was very old and worn down. Cleaning staff was amazing and afternoon young staff was helpful and made us feel welcomed. I definitely wouldn't recommend for those who don't have pets. If you're a solo traveler just looking for a place to sleep, it might be a good place to stay a couple of nights but I personally will not be back. I feel there are many better options nearby.
- 5/5
Quick overnight right off the 95. Rooms were clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Good for what we needed
- 3/5
Friendly staff. The pet fee per day was a lot more than I have paid at Marriott locations. The room , I’m assuming was on a pet friendly floor, had carpet, and had a terrible odor. The fact they charge a pet cleaning fee per stay, did not sit right with me knowing the smell of my room upon entering. I have a small dog that is potty trained and it felt as if we entered a room where a previous dog was not, but the floor / room was not cleaned properly.
- 4.5/5
Too far from DC. Not a bad thing but you asked.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5

Parking
- 4/5
Have to pay for parking , the breakfast was à la cart and absolutely not edible .. room was clean and comfortable . The front desk woman when I checked in late at night was kind, the front desk woman in the AM when I left seemed miserable .

Clean room
- 1/5
Front desk and manager rude. Just in any conversation.
- 5/5
Room spotless. Shower water was hot… not like warm. That sparks joy. Greeted when I walked thru the lobby.
- 0.5/5
NOTHING! The male at the front desk very rude & disrespectful. He was yelling at me talking to me crazy. Told me he could cancel my reservation & I could just leave & go. He said all this because I was asking him about parking. Elevator had cracked up floors & walls, 8th floor curtains at the window by the elevator dirty & stained, the floor at a weird smelled ugh, the room was worse. The floors were dirty, the window was dirty it had a film on it like someone’s smoking in that room, the closet was broken & the inside was dirty, the stand was cracked, peeling & the water bottle on the desk was dusty. TV was extremely small. The whole vibe reminded me of an old funeral home. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE. When my boyfriend came I was sitting in my car. That’s how gross this place is. He had to walk in with me the guy at the front desk was not being disrespectful then. It’s unfortunate because what if I was a single woman needing a place to stay for the night.
- 2/5
Nothing The hotel was outdated the restaurant stays open strange hours it’s ridiculous. I can’t even get a complementary water from the staff how many hotel I stayed in and give you water every day if you asked for it not act like they pay for it.
- 4/5
Room was fine - only issue was that the heater dries out the room pretty badly. But excellent value for the price!

I stayed here recently and booked my room through Expedia. Before going to sleep, I confirmed with the receptionist that breakfast was included, and she assured me that it was. However, when I went for breakfast early in the morning, the staff member at the counter was very rude and spoke to me in a disrespectful manner, even raising her voice. I was surprised and disappointed by this behavior, especially at a Courtyard by Marriott, where I expected professional and courteous service. Guests should not be made to feel uncomfortable or questioned in an inappropriate way. I hope the management looks into this and improves customer service.
- 1/5
When checking in there was no greeting or eye contact and he was short with me when I asked about local transpiration.
- 4/5
We had to go out for dinner without knowing where to go.
- 3/5
An average hotel with decent pricing
- 5/5
Staff was lovely. Room was great.
- 3/5
Breakfast not included
- 1/5
The room smelled bad. I asked for a room, and they gave it to me, but that room also smelled. Very odd and disappointing for a Marriott in a nice area.
- 5/5
Cherrie at the front desk was amazing she helped me with my reservation as we were going to stay Wednesday night too
- 5/5
Location, staff and bed was super comfy! There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Everything was great!

- 2/5
Undisclosed pet fees. Highest pet fee I’ve ever paid at a hotel. Additional parking fees that I couldn’t pay with tap because they only take physical debit and credit cards. They refused cash as well. Room wasn’t very clean. The phone wasn’t working and I had to go to the receptionist multiple times because of that. Acceptable for the bare minimum necessities but I wouldn’t stay there again. Staff was reasonably friendly.
- 5/5
It was very clean and staff was pleasant
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and great location.
- 4/5
Great walkable location. Wegmans nearby. Transportation accessible.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Clean, professional & staff Kind
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff adequate
- 5/5
The property satisfied all our needs.
- 5/5
Clean facilities, kind and professional staff N/A
- 5/5
Very close to old town Alexandria. I walked across the bridge twice for great food and drinks.
- 3/5
Parking lot is cramped and they charge for parking.
- 5/5
Clean room. Helpful front desk staff who facilitated early check in when I needed to change for an event. Thank you!
- 4/5
- 4/5
Bar was not stocked, gym does not have sufficient equipment so I passed on a workout.
- 5/5
Everything was nice
- 1/5
I left a day early due to the conditions of the hotel, it wasn't clean and not worth the price. The manager didn’t refund me for my unused night, sorry ssa so called manager.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff!
- 5/5
I would recommend to friends
- 5/5
It is kind of difficult to get to and there is not much around. To get to Arlington was a bit hard.
- 4/5
Don’t drink and ok
- 5/5
The room was very clean! The entire place is well kept and the staff were pleasant and helpful 👍 👍
- 4/5
Staff were all friendly.

Front person at the counter yesterday when arrived was very nice
- 5/5
Only thing is they should upgrade the tvs
- 5/5
Clean, quiet room, friendly staff. Good food
- 5/5
Another plus is that the hotel is only a 15 minute walk to a metro station.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Perfect place to stay to visit DC. Has a close rail station with parking. The hotel feel ver new and has great amenities like a gym and a bistro.
- 5/5
-
- 3/5
poor customer service
- 2/5
The location was not great, no complimentary coffee or water in lobby
- 4/5
Overall the room was good. However, I don't think that we would stay there again. They do not give you a microwave or refrigerator unless you’re staying for three nights or more, because of that we ended up wasting money on food. Not sure why they stated that you could get a microwave or refrigerator upon request. The room was clean. The showers in the bathroom had some mildew around the doors, but other than that it was not bad.
- 5/5
Check in was easy.
- 5/5
The hotel's copy of my reservation didn’t include breakfast for one guest, so I had to present my itinerary to avoid paying $22.00 out of pocket. In my opinion, breakfast was limited. Also, the coffee had grounds in it. Aside from the semi-decent breakfast quality, the hotel was a decent choice overall.
- 5/5
Great stay. Will stay again. Close to Metro and shopping.
- 4/5
I would have read this five stars. Had there been better food options at the hotel. I thought the food was pretty expensive and it would be nice if the hotel would offer a manager’s reception like other hotels do. But the location was great, the hotel was clean and the staff was nice. Will stay here again for sure.
- 4/5
Clean, breakfast available but get up early, needs met for what was needed for a 1 night stay
- 4/5
The stay was generally without issue. My room smelled a bit musty, but that is the worst thing I can stay about my stay. The staff was attentive, quick, and friendly.
- 3.5/5
Check-in
- 5/5
My stay was peaceful and relaxing, which was perfect for a stress free vacation.
- 5/5
beautiful property
- 4/5
Very convenient
- 5/5
Property is nice. Accessibility to school.
- 4/5
Room was near and clean, however, it did have a stale, musty, unpleasant smell. It was probably the carpet which appeared old. The experience with the staff was extremely pleasant. Nice surroundings area.
- 5/5
The only thing I didn’t not like was having to pay 15.00 for parking.
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
The room was comfortable. It was just big enough for two of us. The bathroom was modern. It was convenient to where we wanted to go. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
This was a great experience and I have told some people they attend this hotel because of the cleanliness and customer service
- 5/5
There are some outdated elements of this property but we would definitely stay again. The staff is friendly, helpful, and responsive. We needed clean towels and they were delivered within 10 minutes. Vondella, a manager on duty, was incredible. She went out of her way to help us navigate transportation and local events.
- 5/5
The room was very nice.
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
My check in process was quick and easy. The incidental hold amount was the absolute best. The staff on every shift was so polite and friendly. Room was not only extremely clean, its was so comfortable. Just wish the room had a microwave. However, i wil stay here again.
- 4/5
Convenient and clean
- 3/5
The first two rooms I was sent to were not ready and had towels and sheets everywhere. The third room I got sent to smelled really bad and the staff had to come spray the room which only masked the smell of one the pieces of furniture that was in the room. When I asked them to take it from the room they let it sit outside my room the whole stay. I had to constantly spray air freshener. At that point I was just tired and didn’t wanna change rooms any more. Would have liked more service
- 5/5
Place was very clean. Nice and quiet. Elevators were quick. Room was clean and bathroom was clean
- 3/5
The hotel experience and hotel staff were good. Food choices at in-house dining room were limited, unappetizing, and overpriced.
- 4/5
Would be helpful to have a shuttle to and from the Eisenhower Metro.
- 4/5
Nice property
- 5/5
I wish there was a pool, but otherwise wonderful
- 5/5
Staff were helpful Very clean
- 3/5
I stayed just for one night. My stay was pretty decent. The room looked clean for the most part, but didn't smell clean. The room smelled like a very old carpet. The linens and the bathroom looked clean. I did not see any bugs. I can tell some things were updated to make the room look more modern. The furniture was clearly older. The room was good enough for a night. It didn't give luxury or modern, but it was very okay. The "old" smell was the main thing that made me a tad uncomfortable. I ate at the bar/restaurant, and that was also a decent experience.
- 5/5
It’s going great
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and comfortable and close to public transportation and restaurants
- 1/5
Front desk clerk immersed in her phone and too busy with that to take care of customers.
- 5/5
Our stay here was great, the hotel was very quick drive to the historic downtown . The staff were very friendly . We would definitely stay there again 😊
- 4/5
Super location.. lose to lots of retail n restaurants n train
- 5/5
Be ready to drive to wherever you might want to eat or if you need something you forgot to pack. 3 out of a couple dozen Lyft drivers knew more than a few words of English. Hotel staff was nice. Room was big and clean. Area was very safe. No pool and that meant little noise from kids. Capital Mall was a 25 minute drive.
- 5/5
Clean / beautiful view
- 3/5
Hotel rooms need to be updated. It’s looking a little run down.
- 5/5
We arrived late in the evening. The front desk attendant was very professional, cordial with a very warm and friendly greeting. I noticed the decor was modern and well kept. The pictures on the wall near the front desk was a very nice touch!!!
- 5/5
The staff were all very friendly, professional, and helpful. I’m very glad I chose this Courtyard by Marriott location.
- 5/5
A very good place. Clean and responsive staff. Eight minute walk to transportation, or the place could arrange transport for you. Oh, and the price was right!
- 5/5
Early in morning woken up by banging and someone yelling in the hallway. So we got up and left the hotel.
- 5/5
Happy
- 5/5
Only stayed one night, everything went well. Just know there’s an extra 15 dollars for parking. Maybe all places in this town do that, I don’t know.
- 5/5
As expected. Clean and convenient
- 4/5
facility was accessible (walking distance or free bus ride to CVS & Metro into DC)
- 5/5
I liked the room very much. It's clean and staff are very nice.
- 5/5
It was my first time staying in Alexandria. The hotel was nice and lots of great restaurants were within walking distance. A metro station was close as well.
- 4/5
Would have been nice to have coffee in lobby in morning
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Staff professional and courteous. Very clean hotel.
- 5/5
Liked everything
- 5/5
Did not like the way shower was constructed. Handle was at opposite end from the end you entered. One door was immovable.
- 4/5
Would have been perfect stay if they provided coffee in the lobby in the morning. Also need to provide lotion in the room.
- 5/5
Beautiful balcony view and quite peaceful
- 5/5
Close to the train station. Didnt know I would have to pay for parking at the hotel
- 3/5
The rooms seem outdated and not the cleanest either. The check in staff at the time wasn’t very friendly. You get what you pay for.
- 5/5
Clean convenient property with good food
- 3/5
High prices and don’t have a pool or jacuzzi. The hotel surrounded has more to offer for less money.
- 5/5
Absolutely clean and the staff is amazing
- 1/5
The hotel esthetics is nice but the staff is hostile and someone interned my room while i was in bed and in the shower twice. I had the Do not disturb sign on the door knob! They claim it was the manager but shouldn’t she know that the room is occupied and that she should knock before entering guest occupied rooms. I stayed at that hotel before but this time they charged me upon entering $50 for early check in and $15 a day for parking! But that didn’t happen before!

- 5/5
The staff was excellent and very kind.
- 5/5
Very clean and professional service
- 5/5
Great!
- 4/5
The property is about a half a mile from the Metro. Very convenient. I will give this stay a 4 out of 5 only because I asked for the room to be clean daily and it was only clean 1 day out of the 5 that I was there. Other than that, it was perfect.
- 5/5
The location is very conveniently located.
- 3/5
No free coffee bar to make our own throughout the day, shower faucet didn’t fully engage, toilet paper holder was broken, bed sheet didn’t stay on bed, didn’t regulate temp in room - staff at front desk were OUTSTANDING. Super friendly, happy and kind
- 1/5
Electric and plumbing problems no show to fix till next day and 3 calls
- 5/5
Great and convenient place to stay
- 4/5
Perfect for our needs. Location was difficult for us to reach.
- 4/5
The blk girl at the front desk was rude! Not welcoming as well with a bad attitude. I got a free breakfast i paid for on my app they didn’t believe me. When i was trying to sleep after driving all night. The spanish women were out in the hall talking loud. Then i house keeping kept entering my room multiple times in one day! I didn’t ask for her to come there!.
- 3/5
The room needed a detailed cleaning and need air freshener
- 3/5
Heater was very loud. Walls were a little thin. Did not see a full service restaurant which I thought was available. Location is hard if no car.
- 5/5
Quiet location. Easy access to the metro or dash bus
- 5/5
Great location for National harbor and Old Town! A lot cheaper too!
- 4/5
The room was neat and clean but had a musty odor ,.street view was very nice .
- 5/5
Easy to get the property. The staff was pleasant. The room was clean. The furniture could use some updating. Overall I was pleased
