Reviews
The hotel is praised for its friendly and helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms, and convenient location close to Old Town Alexandria and the metro station. However, some guests have complained about parking issues, lack of hot water, and poor customer service from certain staff members.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in the DMV! It’s the best kept secret because of the location! The room was immaculate, staff was pleasant and breakfast was a 7out of 10 and we had a kitchenette that was clean!!

We come to Alexandria every month for two weeks. There are many restaurants and supermarkets in the area. Metro is just minutes away and location is right on the bus line. Love that there is a kitchen in the rooms with a full fridge. We do a lot of cooking! Hotel is just a quarter of a mile from a great dog park and our little dog loves going there. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a small outside seating area, and it is a relaxing place after a day out. Sat out there most of the nights. Parking cost is a little steep, but there are public garages nearby that are more reasonable and they are secure.

2 things I want to highlight. Anyone checking guests in needs to inform them on how to operate the elevator also PARKING IS NOT FREE. $40 A NIGHT. Otherwise you will have to park in a parking garage about block and half away for $8 a day.

Room was Clean and having a kitchen with refrigerator and microwave was so convenient. Staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast had a lot of choices and breakfast area was clean and staff were great at refilling food and refreshing the tables

Love the room
- 5/5
Clean comfortable room, close to Metro and grocery store. Breakfast was better than expected
- 5/5
Abel is a very pleasant gentleman at the front desk. Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast is great. Having several selections at breakfast is rare nowadays. This hotel is highly recommended.
- 4/5
Was there for an extended stay and had to ask for clean towels instead of them automatically being replaced. There was basically no room service the entire stay.
- 5/5
Property was well maintained and clean. The room was clean and very comfortable. We only stayed one night but the room would work well with multiple day stays.
- 4/5
The front desk staff (sharnita, not sure of spelling) was amazing and deserves a raise. She was kind and engaging and wonderful.
- 2/5
My wife and I stayed here because it is close to family. Usually we stay at another hotel nearby but thought we would give the Marriott a try. We found the alternate day housekeeping annoying but tolerable. The breakfast was fair but suffered from an odd assortment of unusual items, explained by the staff as "variety." The water in our room was alternately very hot or ice cold. When hot we could run it about 10 minutes and it would get to a bath temperature. Likewise, when cold the water had to be run about 20 minutes to get warm enough for a bath. The hotel manager explained that was because we were on the sixth floor.

Great location in Old Town Alexandria!

Room was very clean, staff was very good

The beds are quite firm. Fine for a short stay, but by day five it became noticeably uncomfortable. Parking is also very expensive at $40 per day, and there aren’t many alternative options nearby. Honestly, it may be more cost-effective and convenient to rely on Uber instead of renting a car. Overall, not a bad stay, but there are a few areas that could really use improvement

Great kitchenette, stocked with silverware, cups and plates. with a full size refrigerator. Very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
Clean property. Excellent breakfast. Lots of options.
- 5/5
Great hotel but elevator was a long wait each time you used it.
- 5/5
Perfect location to the Metro and Kings street shops and restaurants!
- 5/5
Staff was great. Room was nice.
- 3/5
While I understand that maintenance issues can happen, we paid for a suite with two fully functioning bathrooms. Having one shower without hot water meant we did not receive the full value of what we booked. What was most disappointing was that no attempt was made to move us to another room or offer any type of credit or refund for the inconvenience. I hope the hotel can address these issues in the future so other guests receive the accommodations they paid for.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful, but each and every staff member I encountered was awesome! The location is convenient. Parking is great rooms are great, but the staff is superior. Each and every one of them was very attentive, particularly I believe he was the manager just on top of everything. Great job!
- 5/5
Room was spotless and everyone was absolutely a delight. There is NO SERVICE in the parking garage, which could be an issue in case of an emergency. The hotel is in a wonderful area close to the capital!
- 1/5
The staff is not on the same page with charges to the customer (myself). Incidental charges were different with certain staff and ultimately, I felt that I was being accused of stating a certain amount! After my reservation that I am currently staying, I will never stay at this particular property again!
- 5/5
The public areas and room were very clean and nicely decorated. The small kitchenette had everything that was needed for basic cooking. The breakfast buffet was very good as well and even had gluten free muffins and bagels. It was a great price as well.
- 2.5/5
Location Need attention to maintaining the bathroom and the usage of elevators during rush hour, one elevator not enough in early morning

Garage parking on site Breakfast included (although we missed it every morning we were there) Well equipped gym (more than just the standard treadmill + weight set) Happy hour/bar open till 10:30pm Convenient location Sundry was not well stocked - only a few bags of chips, minimal drinks, water was sold out.

- 5/5
Lots of services provided to the guests. Things like the free breakfast and the laundry were very useful for my trip. Room was also very clean and nice.
- 3.5/5
The price was too much for the room. It was basic. The staff person at check in was very condescending when I had an issue with the price of the room and how I booked it online. Parking was 40 bucks a night to park in the garage.

Very clean, employees are nice and accommodating , hotel is updated! Before going to hotel check price of incidentals! It’s not constant from what I saw the few times I went and keeps going up! But other then that great hotel! Around a lot of businesses. uber is always around and the train is a 7 minute walk away from hotel. Also free breakfast taste ok!

Perfect for weekend stay visiting family for Thanksgiving; stayed here last year as well. Breakfast was good and room was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
I was a little disappointed with the coffee pot as the switch didn’t want to turn on so I couldn’t use it. The coffee and comp breakfast is great though. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the Bold coffee was amazing. I would do this again.

- 5/5
I was in Alexandria for work. A very quick trip. Very comfortable. Very clean. Easy check-in and easy check-out. Continental breakfast was ok.
- 5/5
The only complaint we have is that the ac would not work in the middle of the night and the room got hot.
- 5/5
Rooms were neat and clean. Staff is wonderful -
- 5/5
We like the layout of this hotel and all the amenities. Staff is nice. Can cook also. Safe area.
- 4/5
Cons: parking is $40, parking to check-in is a bit cumbersome, but there are some garages not to far from the hotel that charge $10 to park for the day. They are about a 5-6 minute walk. The other draw back is that the room is a tad dated. I forgot my charging box and thought they would have USB charging ports—nope! I would suggest that they at least upgrade the clocks to have USB charging capabilities by the beds.
- 5/5
Nice hotel in not getting my cash back in here last stays
- 5/5
Clean hotel. Good service. Good breakfast choices. Near a large supermarket that offers quality products.
- 5/5
Excellent property, service, location and facilities
- 5/5
Love the location of property. The hotel staff are very friendly and professional.
- 5/5
Everything was great.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing! The room was roomy and comfortable. The bed was perfect, and we had good water pressure! It was nice to have a parking garage!
- 4/5
It's okay considering the choices in the immediate area. Close to the Eisenhower Metro Station, DCA, and eateries. If you are looking for nightspots, a short Uber ride to downtown King Street is likely your better choice. If you have business or visiting in the immediate area, this a good choice.
- 3/5
We got a charge of $128.50 for no reason after check out on July 14th. The hotel first said it was a hold for seucrity/incidental charge and will be reversed. Then it became a real posted charge in our credit card. Called the hotel multiple times, and even went there in person, the front desk person couldn't explain what it was for. After waiting for a long while I was told it would be refunded. So far refund is still not issued per our credit card representative, we had to dispute the charge.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Nice staff and good breakfast.
- 5/5
Parking is at a premium. They have a garage under the building, but they neglect to mention that they charge $40 per night to park. We picked this place so we could use the Metro because the station is close by and were not planning to use the car. They should at least posted the extra parking cost
- 5/5
It is clean and 5-minute walk to the metro station.
- 5/5
2. Desk staff was pleasant and helpful checking in.
- 5/5
The metro train was conveniently located and was extremely quiet. Cooties to the contruction/windows of the building.

- 5/5
I’m glad I selected this hotel for our weeklong family vacation. Very clean and quiet area. Metro and bus stops are close. Breakfast was fantastic! Only downside for us was no pool, but I would absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
We had a great stay! Very convenient to the metro. Lots of space in the room and having a kitchen is so helpful. We will definitely be back!
- 3/5
Change up you breakfast options.
- 5/5
Amazing! Conveniently located between two metro stops and grocery store/drug store/restaurants nearby. Breakfast was excellent! Staff was thoughtful and helpful. 5/5 all the way!
- 5/5
very convenient to everything you would want to see in the DC area - staff is helpful and pleasant - rooms are spacious and clean
- 5/5
Staff is always friendly and helpful - rooms are a great size - everything in neat and clean
- 3/5
Our a $250 hold on my card when they said it was $100
- 4/5
It was OK
- 3/5
Beware: $40/night parking fee!
- 4/5
Very clean and comfortable. Surprised there was no hair dryer or lotion, which is typically supplied in better hotels. I'm also very concerned about the $250 charge for something, which hopefully will be refunded as we left everything in perfect condition. We haven't traveled a lot in the US (more in Europe) in recent years, so hadn't encountered this charge. It made me hesitant about staying. Maybe frequent US travelers have encountered this. The complimentary breakfast was very good.
- 5/5
Good breakfast. Easy walking distance to the Eisenhower Metro station, which goes to the airport in 10 minutes.
- 5/5
Excellent room, service, delicious breakfast
- 5/5
Amazing staff. Everyone helpful and everything clean!
- 5/5
Great hotel in a prime location. The staff was also top notch.
- 3/5
The water was not hot. Was taking cold showers.
- 5/5
Wonderful experience
- 5/5
Easy check in and check out. The parking is $40/night which I considered a high price. But other than that I didn't find anything to complain about it. The room was clean, with plenty space. If you are traveling with babies they provide accomodation
- 3/5
The location is good for visiting our family. Room was clean. Shower was not consistent with temperature and water pressure was very light. Free breakfast was good.
- 4/5
Comfortable spot to stay and conveniently close to public transit to get to Alexandria or DC
- 5/5
Great location that’s right in the middle of DMV. You’re not far from DC or Baltimore! The receptionists were very friendly. Check in and check out was a breeze.
- 2/5
the hotel is very old - you can tell that maintenance is not a top priority. the bathroom has dirt on the floor, actually the entire floor in the room was covered with sand - I was on the 12 floor. the paint on the outside railings are in desperate of need of painting, the door both interior and exterior are in need of painting. the caulking in the bathroom shower is black and needs replacing. there was a peanut on the floor in the bathroom upon check-in. There were no towels in the room, no toilet paper and no small soaps and lotions. the room needs some type of coffee table it the living room area. Perhaps small carpets near the beds or front door to assist with tracking in loose dirt/sand into the room. Housekeeping is only every 3 days. The kitchen draw with the utensils was not cleaned out - had drops of what looked like syrup with the spoons. The management should look at reworking the budget to see where they can do some capital improvements to bring up the quality of the rooms.
- 5/5
Nice staff. Great area for walking to restaurants, renting Capital bikes to do the Mt Vernon trail and convenience to metro for getting into DC. Awesome dog park up the street.
- 5/5
Property seemed fine. Was only there for a few hours

Loved the stay! Quiet and relaxing!
- 4/5
Very clean property
- 3/5
I got backache after sleeping on the bed.
- 4/5
Only complaint is the water temperature in the sink and shower would never regulate. It would get crazy hot then cold, then normal, then fluctuate all again.
- 5/5
I had a pleasant stay at the Residence Inn. The studio was clean and spacious. The breakfast was quite good. I just wish there were some close restaurants for dinner.
- 5/5
Very pleasant stay! Staff were all so kind, especially the AAF bartender.
- 5/5
Front desk agents so nice and helpful
- 5/5
The staff was amazing. The room seemed veey clean.
- 2/5
We did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. For three of five days, we were blocked in the underground car park because the window cleaning gantry was left blocking the exit, unmanned. It took several minutes until someone came to move it. The room cleaners knocked on our door every morning at 9am - we wanted our room cleaned but not that early as we were on holiday, so that was annoying. The room had a mini-kitchen, but no oven. And when we used the stove top, it took 30 MINUTES to heat the pan enough to cook minced meat for a simple spag bol dinner. The room continuously had different smells seeping through from it's surrounds, whether it be cleaning chemicals, food cooking from.adjacent rooms, or one day it smelled like complete sh*t. Lastly, on one morning, the hot water service was turned off for maintenance (without any notice whatsoever) and when calling the front desk, the receptio. Staff were rude and advised it would be turned back on within 30 minutes. Over an hour later, it was still not on so we had to get going and shower at our destination. We were really shocked at how crappy our stay turned out to be, but thank god it's over now. Definitely would not recommend this specific hotel. It should be noted that all other Marriott Bonvoy hotels we have stayed at have been of a high standard, so it does appear to be isolated to this specific venue.

- 5/5
Great location, spacious room, good breakfast.
- 1/5
Very inconvenient to attend the meeting I came to attend.
- 5/5
Elegant and comfortable. Would definitely be staying at this hotel again. Courteous and competent staff. My family had no issues whatsoever.
- 5/5
It was a nice stay. My only complaint was how slow the wifi was and my data wasn’t working well in my room.
- 5/5
The property was very quiet and relaxing.
- 5/5
They were overbooked, and my family and I had to stay elsewhere for the first 2 nights. It took a lot of time to rearrange accommodation and vacation plans that we missed some of the activities we had planned to see and do in the area. Once we checked in, the room was clean and the hotel staff was friendly.
- 5/5
What a wonderful stay!! Can’t say enough. Randy front desk A , Jesus and Jeannette where also top!!! Hotel is convenient and close to Metro Train station and bus stops. Hot breakfast daily was also A .

- 4/5
It was convenient location
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Very clean. Nicely maintained. Great location.
- 5/5
Immaculate room. Fantastic continental breakfast!
- 4/5
Overall, the property was very nice. The rooms and lobby were clean. The breakfast was good as well. Our only gripe was the hotel bar was closed all three nights due to someone calling out each night. About a 6 minute walk to the Eisenhower Line (Yellow), so it was convenient to get into DC.
- 5/5
It was perfect
- 5/5
Quiet area.. Clean rooms staff was wonderful!
- 5/5
We loved the Residence Inn. Good breakfast. Staff were very polite. Walking distance to King Street. Several restaurants in the immediate vicinity. $8 for bottled water in the room was rather excessive.
- 5/5
Great stay and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

- 4/5
Great three night stay here, it’s a little walk from the nearest metro station but no major trouble. The soundproofing of the room we stayed in was excellent, so no complaints about noise. Complimentary breakfast was great at the weekend, but disappointing to see it scaled back on Monday. The chap on the front desk was a real credit to the organisation, very friendly, helpful and professional.
- 3/5
Bad lighting in guest rooms. Needs refurbishing.
