It’s a unique experience with a lovely lobby with chessboards, comfortable seating, an adjacent library, books for reading—conveniently located to King Street, the Main Street of Old Town Alexandria…and it’s affordable.

We were a bit disappointed. We were stuck in a basement room. The hotel was not what we remembered. We went there to relive our 1st Valentine’s say, which was 28 years ago. It was a bit shabby. The Marriott chain purchased it, so we expected it to be even more special, than it was 28 years ago. There was no mention, when we checked in that the front door of the hotel, would be locked at night. We rang the bell, but received no answer. We finally realized we had to use our key card to get in. Another couple came in behind us with the same issue. The hotel clerk was in the office, while we were waiting for the front door to be answered. We were offered a free breakfast, for the next day. It was not good. The pancakes were crunchy. They were completely dried out. The eggs were congealed, and there was not much else to choose from. I sincerely doubt we will ever go back. We paid around $300.00 for 1 night. 😞

Great location. Great lobby - Sitting area and Dining area. The Concierge was kind enough to place the leftovers of the dinner I ate at a restaurant in their refrigerator overnight. I was supposed to get a wake up call and it was never delivered but it is okay as I had awakened in time.

Being an Autograph Hotel,I was a bit disappointed. The location is unbeatable but there is no place to park on your own. Valet is $45 a night, too pricey for me! There is a nice fountain in front of the hotel that is in a desperate need of paint and the front door looks a little rough. Otherwise, very clean, nice staff, nice breakfast $25, and a small bar. I would stay here again for the location.

I routinely stay in the Marriott Autograph Collection hotel chain. They usually are very special. Unfortunately I can’t say that for the Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia which is an Autograph Collection Hotel. The outside of the building is very charming. However once you put your foot in the door all that charm vanishes. The interior is very dingy, and down right dirty. There appeared to be dried splattered stains all over the elevator doors and walls. I was a little hesitant in even getting in it. When we entered our room there was a dirty used glass with dried coffee in it. It obviously had been there for quite a while. There were dirty used towels on the bathroom counter top. I immediately went to the front desk and told them what I found. The receptionist checked his computer and said the hotel supervisor had personally signed off that the room was clean and ready. We were given another room that was clean but unfortunately the shower soap dispenser was empty. I didn’t find it out until I was taking a shower. I just used the shampoo for shower gel. The room did not appear the way the photos show it to be. The room was very gloomy and dark. It is also partially underground. When you look out the window your head is literally at the same level as the street. Needless to say we were very disappointed in our room. The staff was very friendly and the location is very good but in no way is this a four star hotel. Because of the poor filthy

This is me and my wife's favorite place to stay when we want a staycation. The mixologist on staff is amazing (if you are into mixed drinks), and the hotel is so close to many of our favorite restaurants in the area. So walkable, yet off the beaten path. As a lover of books, getting to take books home is a bonus. We stay here at least 2 times a year.

Great quick trip to Old Town in this wonderful boutique hotel. The hotel is very inviting with lots of great spots to relax in. The bar was cozy with a fantastic bartender and fun cocktails. They had a live piano player on Saturday night. The rooms are small, but modern and comfortable. It’s a very easy walk down King Street to the waterfront. Just be aware there is no parking on site. You can street park or valet for $45/night. Highly recommend!

Excellent: The Staff! On our 3 night stay we had contact with numerous desk attendants and 1 housekeeper. Everyone was helpful and courteous! Excellent: Room size was large for a small hotel and extremely clean upon arrival. Good: The beautiful exterior of the building. The common room with gas fireplace. The unadvertised wine hour daily from5-6pm. The beautifully appointed rooms! Bad: I missed the small print that the rooms would not be serviced during multi-night stays. Eating breakfast in our room was lovely but the trash and crumbs that built up over 3 days is inviting rodents and insects. Ugly: Today I went to the website and copied this: “Our restaurant features a seasonal menu of small plates expertly paired with masterfully created cocktails, as well as live entertainment. With three elegant event spaces, we can host professional and social gatherings that are sure to impress.” I also went to hotels.com and viewed the very pictures that convinced me to pay a higher price to stay at the Morrison House. I was looking at another hotel on the waterfront and noticed that their restaurant was closed. I called and asked about it and received a run around, so booked the Morrison House. Guess what! No restaurant, no bar! Because it was before

Morrison House was wonderful! The location was perfect and we loved the charm of this hotel. It felt like home and Monique was such a fantastic host! The room was clean, decorated beautifully and the bed was very comfortable. Love the wine in the evenings and the hospitality from all staff was remarkable. I would stay her again and again!

Our stay was great. The service at the front desk was very helpful and attentive. This might sound crazy, but we believe that our room (407) may have been haunted as both bedside lamps would sporadically flicker on and off throughout the night. We didn’t have any issues with it as we believe it was a friendly spirit just acknowledging its presence.

The lobby was beautiful and hotel nicely decorated. But HEADS UP about parking. It is an additional $38 (per day I believe) which I missed when booking. The rooms were quite nice but maybe could use a little warming up. It was kind of a stark colonial meets contemporary design and not like the main floor. The bathroom was very nice though.

I tried to book a second night and it didn't seem to go through on Expedia. We checked out the next day and staff did not say anything or question why we were checking out early. Later that evening I received an email asking me again how the check-in went. After looking at my account, I realized I had been charged $340 for another night and had already gone home. I gave feedback to expedia. They had the hotel respond to me directly. I emailed Morrison hotel manager about the situation 12 days ago and did not receive a response. Very unfortunate.

We showed up 2 hours before the check-in time of 4pm and our room was ready, which was great. But then everything went downhill. Our room was freezing cold and showed a Temp of 60 degrees on the thermostat. We weren't going to spend much time in our room and decided to turn the temperature to a reasonable temp of 70 degrees in hopes to balance out the room to a comfortable temp upon our return. After a night of dinner/drinks, we returned around 1230am to a now sauna of a room. The thermostat temperature reached 105 degrees! Heaven forbid we would have fallen asleep in those conditions. That seems a little dangerous to me. Also, my wife purchased some expensive chocolates for her mother and they were now melted. We tried to fix the thermostat with no luck. They ended up having to move us across the hall to another room, which we were very thankful for, but it was still an inconvenience to have been in this situation to begin with at now 1am! What would they have done if no other rooms were available? The main reason why I am writing this is because of the way the morning front desk attendant handled the situation. The night staff was very accommodating and we informed her of the situation that had happened. I showed her the chocolates and all we got w
