Reviews
The hotel is highly praised for its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. The breakfast is also frequently complimented for its variety and quality. However, several guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the parking situation, finding it overpriced and difficult to navigate, especially for larger vehicles.
- Very clean and spacious rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Overpriced and inconvenient parking
- Noise from restaurant below for some rooms
- 4.5/5
Good location and great breakfast and nice rooms I would suggest to have basic toiletries in case quests forget theirs. Such as toothbrush and toothpaste

The breakfast was excellent. Well presented. The food stations were nicely spaced and well maintained by staff. This is especially important as I typically appear in the last hour when things are winding down and sometimes a bit ragged at other hotels. Not here. The room was spectacular. Though old school and traditional everything was impeccable. I only had one night but this property would definitely be a location and facility to serve a multi-night stay over. Bravo
- 5/5
This stay provided us with everything we needed. Breakfast and coffee were great! The kitchen in the room was wonderful with a full fridge for our beverages. The hotel is located in a nice location, walkable to the riverfront or there is a shuttle available. Everything we needed at a very affordable price!
- 4/5
Great location I had booked a 1 bedroom suite, got a studio, when I asked to be moved I couldn’t be accommodated
- 4.5/5
The staff were excellent. They accepted us as a family and were always willing to lend a hand. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was okay, especially with the offer of complementary bus services within a certain radius. The breakfast was fine, but it became boring after a few days. Introducing food variety after a few days would be very helpful.
- 4/5
Great location, friendly staff, rooms are comfortable and large Rooms are a built outdated, shower could benefit from more water pressure
- 3.5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff. The room was expensive and did not include parking (extra $50/night). Included breakfast was just barely ok. Slow included WiFi; fast iWiFi was another upcharge.
- 5/5
Perfect spot for our trip for graduation. The staff was friendly, helpful and available. The room was spacious and had just what we needed. The room was clean and the staff kept it that way for our stay. Very pleased and will surely stay again!

Great location within walking distance to main street in Old Town Alexandria. Clean, comfortable large rooms. All the appliances worked properly. Excellent restaurant - jazz club adjacent to hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. In general met and exceeded standards for Residence Inns. Air conditioning unit in bedroom was mildly noisy.

Location, free breakfast, staff. The queen bed seemed smaller than a regular queen. Single bed rooms should really have a King in this day and age.

We loved staying at Residence Inn for our old town trip with my husband. The staff is so friendly. The room is spacious and well kept. The place was super clean, they provide actual dishes and mugs that are sanitized in the dishwasher. Water pressure was good. The hotel and the area is very quiet so no problem getting good night sleep. The parking is 50 per night if you want to park in their garage. We parked on the street in the back of the building, paid $5 for the day and its free after 9pm and on sundays. It’s a bit inconvenient but a good option if you dont want to pay up (all hotels charge for parking in this area) I recommend getting the app to pay from your phone. We left our car there and walked 2 blocks to king street where the main restaurants and shops are and from there you can take the free shuttle up and down the street. Their breakfast is great, variety of items, eggs sausage, cereals, oatmeal, waffles, fruit, toast bagels, yogurt etc. Theres a cvs and a whole foods nearby. I would recommend this place and I would definitely come back.
- 5/5
Room and facilities were excellent. Staff very nice, amenities and breakfast was very good.
- 5/5
Ended up staying an extra night very comfortable convenient to a lot of places. Like the option of having breakfast at the hotel.
- 5/5
The staff was great and helpful. The hotel is well taken care of clean and neat.

- 5/5
Absolutely
- 5/5
Room was huge especially for what I paid and clean. Breakfast was good and varied but as a super healthy eater, I would have appreciated some more types of fruit and some non artificial sweetener yogurt. Tiny thing so nbd.
- 5/5
Great breakfast and very clean
- 5/5
yes . yes
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly, clean room just had a smell at first.
- 5/5
clean room, good breakfast, van to take us to our event
- 3/5
Parking is way over priced. The room smelled like cat urine. The breakfast was ok, but had limited options.
- 5/5
Clean and super friendly staff. Not far to King St. Would definitely stay again
- 5/5
Clean room, very friendly staff members, excellent breakfast!
- 5/5
It was a wonderful visit. The rooms were comfortable and clean, free breakfast was great and the people that work there were exceptional! I will be coming back!
- 5/5
superb, good staff
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was better than most other hotel breakfast buffets. And, the location was within easy walking distance of King Street.
- 5/5
Cean spacious room (suite, 2 bedroom/2 bath) for a girls get away weekend. Staff was very friendly, accommodating and able to give us an early check in rather than leaving our luggage at the desk. Traditional continental breakfast but staff was friendly and helpful there too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
- 5/5
I was impressed with the friendly staff. Our room was very clean and we had housekeeping everyday. You can opt out of daily housekeeping. The breakfast was very good and varied from day to day. The staff was so efficient in keeping the breakfast area clean. This hotel is within walking distance of the Potomac and Whole Foods is close by.
- 5/5
and will be back.
- 5/5
Amazing stay for a girls weekend
- 4/5
Everything was perfect but I have to take away a star because of parking. Not great if you have a full size SUV or pickup. If I would have known, I would have driven a smaller vehicle. Everything else was great.
- 5/5
Very friendly and competent staff at the front desk
- 5/5
Convenient
- 5/5
The suite was large and clean. Kitchen staff kept the dining area pristine and all of the staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Close to King St and all of the gems in Old Town. Great place to stay for a weekend getaway!
- 4/5
1st room smelled moldy then they moved us to a nice room 830 was moldy
- 5/5
We have stayed at Residence Inn in NYC and most recently in Alexandria. Their staff, reception and cleaning, are consistently warm, friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and it's nice to have a kitchen. My daughter and I always feel safe here.
- 5/5
Room is clean and spacious. Love the free breakfast.
- 5/5
Clean, Easy to Access, Queit, Friendly, access to downtown... All of the above... A great hotel, with plenty of space, helpful staff and lots to do nearby...
- 4/5
So walkable and lots to do!
- 4/5
The workers were kind, pleasant, and helpful
- 3/5
Breakfast needs more variety.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
It was great, highly recommend
- 5/5
Consistent
- 5/5
The accommodations were wonderful. The staff was very polite. The location was close to everything I was recommended.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice
- 4/5
It was good except that parking was $40 a day
- 4/5
If I am vacationing in Virginia across the Potomac from DC, I would hope that the staff would know something about the sights.
- 5/5
Nice breakfast, safe and clean for families, and excellent staff.
- 5/5
I would like a handicap wheelchair accessible shuttle Huge disappointment
- 4/5
I do not like the fact that several cash holds were placed on my credit card. I am still awaiting for them to be removed.
- 2/5
Check on was a breeze and friendly! The room was clean but we had an issue with the toilet barely flushing, we had maintenance come out at night and “fix it” then the next morning it clogged again not even flushing toilet paper it was so bad the toilet overflowed and we called the front desk and they stated someone would come and they never did leaving us to clean it up and not be able to use the toilet til check out.
- 5/5
Daily room service a great plus if needed
- 5/5
It was very quiet! Clean. The eggs at the breakfast were delicious!
- 5/5
The staff is very polite and efficient. Safe area and good parking.

Our room and bathroom were both very clean and spacious. The decor and furniture are a bit dated but well maintained. Breakfast was great and the staff was friendly. Would stay here again. Really enjoyed the special rate that included free parking.
- 5/5
Polite staff. . Walkable to restaurants and shops. Safe
- 5/5
Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Great breakfast although always busy. Location is good. Very walkable to restaurants and the Metro into DC. Older property but far exceeded expectations.
- 5/5
The staff at the Residence Inn went above and beyond in making us feel welcome.
- 4/5
Very rowdy lobby barely could hear the front desk person.
- 5/5
Staff extremely friendly and nice. Very helpful and very good with communication.
- 3/5
Not up to Marriott standards. Carpet in room worn and frayed. Dishwasher racks rusted. Window sashes broken. No hot water on separate days of a 10 day stay. Parking was convenient but overpriced. Upper level had a key entry gate but open access to lower level nullified any security. Sofa bed mattress and springs were terrible. Previous Marriot stay at the YUL airport was excellent. Very disappointed in Alexandria property.
- 5/5
Can’t wait to stay again as a Bonvoy Member. One of the best Marriott Residence I’ve ever stayed at!
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Lovely location. Friendly staff. Bed could be harder, bit soft for us. But thats a preference thing. Free shuttle to town welcomed.
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Good experience overall. Breakfast was hot and fresh. Good location for metro access and a quick walk to king street.
- 5/5
Great variety and excellent service! Would definitely return here.
- 5/5
Area around Hotel is under construction, but does not affect hotel. Hotel is very close to Metro, great restaurants near by.
- 4/5
Easy to check-in, even for late evening. Room was reasonably clean; front desk staff was very cheerful. Note: the Hotels.com website allows you to book daily parking for additional $10. This IS NOT supported by this Marriott, which charges $45. If you explain to front desk, they may be able to waive it due to no fault of your own.
- 4/5
Great stay, will be back again!
- 5/5
The front desk staff were very kind & so were the reservationists. I was there for my brother's funeral and asked if they could put my room close to my sister and her husband...they did, it was an adjoining room, which I truly appreciated. Also, the breakfast was great!
- 5/5
Very nice stay, everyone was very accommodating and kind.
- 5/5
Near a Metro station for a quick trip to D.C. Many nearby restaurants in walking distance.
- 5/5
the only drawback was our toilet ran on and off all night but they waived our parking fee as compensation which was fair and acceptable; stayed here previously and everything was perfect; that's why we returned; and we'll stay here again.
- 5/5
Very clean and private!!
- 5/5
I honestly loved everything but the $45 parking
- 5/5
I loved how close it is to the metro station, a grocery store, and lots of restaurants. The street was easy to cross and pleasant to walk on.
- 5/5
The restaurant next door, LaPorta, was excellent.
- 5/5
Great spot with awesome parking.
- 5/5
very clean and smells good too !!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great! Fee to park is excessive.
- 5/5
The room's setup was comfortable.
- 3/5
It was nice
- 3/5
Night manager refused to resolve WiFi issue.
- 5/5
The hotel itself was very clean and we were very happy with our stay here I have never stayed in a Marriott that was not exceptional
- 5/5
This is our go too spot when visiting the dc area
- 5/5
Near dining and shopping.
- 4/5
Residence Inns always are nice to have a kitchenette and seperate living room and bedroom. A few cons: There is a cost to praking with them but the shuttle service is great. The pillows werent great and i had some back pain the next day. I do have some sciatica that i am dealing with and i event get back pain with my home bed (firm tempurpedic). Also I think as a general rule I will take my own pillow.
- 5/5
Everyone was great Shuttle service wonderful the taxes are ridiculous though
- 5/5
I liked the fact that they had a shuttle that would take u to the waterfront very convenient
- 4/5
Great stay for the cost with easy walking to shops, restaurants etc. Additional cost to park.
- 3/5
trip was fine, but i prepaid and now they sent me a message that i owe more
- 5/5
Full kitchens in every room. Exceptionally warm and welcoming staff.
- 5/5
Amazing all around
- 5/5
Great place to stay!!
- 5/5
Good location, especially with the shuttle service! Nice hotel!
- 5/5
Great location, quiet area. We had good sleep. Friendly staff, clean room and breakfast was good! Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We had such a great experience at this hotel. Super close to metro, downtown and restaurants, and breakfast was fantastic!! Ulises and Abbie at the front desk were exceptional!!
- 4/5
Positives: workout room, quiet, staff, location and value. Negatives: Furniture a little dated in the room and vegetable based sausage (only) on the breakfast buffet. Highly recommended except serve real sausage or bacon!
- 5/5
Everything clean and smells great !
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Front desk was very patient. Our family PCS'ed and we had issues with our government credit card. The staff was very professional taking a call with the company to verify our reservation. We enjoyed the daily breakfast and the gym facility. I highly recommend staying here. Only set back was the laundry room. Machines work great and the room was clean but the machines are controlled by an app you have to download. I'm still waiting for a refund from the app (2 weeks have gone by).
- 5/5
It was great
- 4/5
The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Had an oversized vehicle and could not park in the hotel garage facilities; however, street parking was easy and the hotelnaturally did not charge any parking fees.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! Everyone was so nice, friendly and helpful! Location is perfect, rooms are huge and having a full kitchen was terrific! It felt like we had borrowed a friend’s apartment for the weekend!! Will definitely come back! We love Old Town!! Le Refuge is our favorite restaurant and going to DC on the Metro was so easy!!!
- 1/5
Stayed for 3 nights and AC kept breaking down. Such an inconvenience having to call maintenance at wee hours while 3 young kids asleep. Staff were Responsive but ac kept breaking down. Requested for another room but none was available.
- 4/5
Enjoyed the stay.
- 5/5
I have stayed in many a hotel in my day and used to work in the industry at the Four Seasons. I can say this is by far the cleanest and quietest hotel I've ever been to. Not to mention the best hotel service from David A. at the front desk which is what you'd expect at a five diamond hotel. His kindness, engagement, and patience is incredible. I'd HIGHLY recommend. Not to mention the rooms are HUGE. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
- 4/5
It was a little offputting that in the fact that we were some of only a few non-Caucasian guests but I will say everyone was very polite and helpful here the first day. The continental breakfast was excellent and the second day it was good. They had an issue in the kitchen area where they couldn’t cook so they were no eggs and some other items that were available the first day, but they still had variety of things to choose from. We were literally minutes away from the MGM casino, Tanger outlets and National Harbor stores I would recommend if you were staying here for more than one night or if you think you will need snacks I would get whatever you need before you come to the room because there is a Whole Foods up the street however I am not sure what time it closes and if you like adult beverages if you’re not familiar with Virginia Liquor separate from beer and wine so you may want to stop somewhere on the Maryland side and get what you want before getting there although we did find a store to get what we wanted while we were here but this nice hotel was perfect for our weekend getaway to go shopping and hit the casino
- 4/5
Nice location and staff..recommend
- 5/5
The staffs were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was amazing and the location was great.
- 5/5
The Residence Inn was a wonderful choice for a quick getaway to Old Town Alexandria. The rooms were great and clean, the staff was amazing: we got a complimentary upgrade, had a pack and play brought to our room for our infant, and were treated with the utmost care. We also used the shuttle service and the complimentary breakfast, both were also amazing.
- 5/5
All good.
- 5/5
This is my favorite place to stay. Great location and the staff is always nice. My last visit, I thought my check out date was the day after so needless to say I received a call stating they were there to clean the room and my belongings were still in the room. They were very cool and accommodating about it and did not charge me for being late.
- 1/5
Stay away
- 5/5
Great location and they provide a shuttle service to local places
- 4/5
Good location. Laundry App was a problem
- 4/5
For the cost of the room, the parking lot view was disappointing. Parking was $40/night additional for garage. That or park on the street. Otherwise, great location for Old Town, VA
- 5/5
From the time I checked in Pam and another young gentleman were prime examples of the best customer service. I did not get his name, but he even asked me the next day how was my event. He was at the other side as I was checking in. They both greated us every time we entered the lobby.
- 5/5
Great location and hotel was very nice !
- 5/5
The staff at this hotel was beyond friendly and accommodating. They greeted every guest with a smile and went out of their way to help us feel welcome and comfortable. We even had to extend our stay a night because of a canceled flight, and they were glad to help us sort that out. The breakfast was hot and fresh every morning. The only slight negative is that the room decor is somewhat dated and could use a refresh, but overall, we had an excellent stay!
- 5/5
Location and staffs
- 1/5
The air conditioning unit in our room needs to be replaced! I reeked of mold! Then we accidentally turned on the heat and our entire room smelled of Burt garbage, everyone was gagging! It is not ok for your health to be in those conditions, we called for a new room but they did not have one available.
- 5/5
Great location. Close to Metro and King Street shops.
- 4/5
I don't think I have stayed in a friendlier hotel. Everyone member of staff offered a welcoming "hello" whatever the time of day. I think the rooms are better than the photos imply - i was bit nervous of depressing colours and wear and tear. My own negative feedback would be that the shower over the bath lacked pressure (leaked into the tub via the tap) and the air conditioning on the loud side (but very welcome).
- 5/5
Residence Inn staff was very efficient and personable at check-in. Very friendly and helpful to everyone in the group. Rooms were very nice as well. Great beds. Would return on my next visit to DC
- 4/5
Convenient location and large rooms. Aircon quite noisy. Breakfast chaotic.
