Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a mixed experience, with guests appreciating the cleanliness of the rooms, friendly staff, and convenient location. However, there are consistent complaints about the quality of breakfast and issues with the rooms such as noise, uncomfortable beds, and maintenance problems.

Bathroom caulking repair around the tub looked like it was done with a spoon. Frogs in A/C vent making noises at night. Curtains didn’t keep light out of room at night, bright led light right outside window. Refrigerator wasn’t very cold.
- 4.5/5
well lit, secure, felt safe. No construction gangs hanging around all night drinking beer and playing music
- 3.5/5
I feel they closed down the breakfast too early. I was disappointed by the WiFi. I felt it was too spotty.
- 4/5
This was a budget hotel with very basic amenities, so I didn't have unrealistic expectations. What I got was a very clean room with an aging bathroom, a good TV, a nice addition of hooks for hanging things and lots of electrical outlets. Free coffee in the lobby, but not in-room. A very loud, but efficient AC unit. An in-room coffee pot is always nice.
- 2/5
Great location-it’s really unfortunate that the property doesn’t match the surroundings.
- 4/5
Location was good. Easy to find and very friendly staff. And bed was comfortable and slept well No bad thoughts of it.
- 4/5
Location, bathtub in room, ice cold air conditioner, price per night!!! Miminalist breakfast. K cup Coffee and muffins

I have mixed feelings about my stay. The front desk person was very friendly. I’ve read a lot of comments that said their room was nice and updated. My room was updated but the curtains and walls were very stained. It also smelled of (what I can only describe as) a combo of old stale cigarette smoke and fried food. The bathroom was decent but the mirror looked like it would fall off the wall at any moment. I will say the bed was very comfortable but the sheets smelled like the room. The grounds outside looked nice and there is a stream that runs along the side. My biggest issue was, there was a homeless person sleeping in a car with all the windows busted out of it, outside my room.
- 4/5
The room was clean and beds were comfy. This is an older property, but well maintained. Breakfast is coffee, muffins and juice only.
- 4/5
We had a lovely stay, the staff were really helpful and welcoming. It is in a beautiful location, and practical with lots of shops and things to do in Black Mountain in walking distance and also not too far a drive to Asheville. Breakfast included muffins, coffee and juice so it is fairly basic but still very nice. There was a fair bit of dust in the room, especially on the bedside tables/shelves, but the en suite was very clean. Great free parking facilities, and an overall calm atmosphere throughout the stay. Would love to book again :)
- 5/5
Well maintained, great location with excellent views.
- 5/5
Everything was good but the breakfast was nothing but a packaged muffin and juice.
- 5/5
The room was clean and check in was quick and easy.
- 4/5
Very comfortable bed. Great location.
- 1.5/5
Cheap, clean. People live there, no breakfast; just packaged pastries.

The hotel was nothing fancy but was very comfortable and clean. Great location. Easy to get in and out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No pool due to hurricane Helene but they had a nice fire pit and seating area. The breakfast was just packaged muffins, juice and coffee. All in all, very satisfied and would definitely go back.
- 4/5
Carpet was torn n peeling up and the some of the curtains were missing but it was ok. It didn’t have bugs to my knowledge (I always check) and the air worked.
- 5/5
Very clean room. I got an upgrade to main floor at check-in at no cost. Fast check out. Coffee available in lobby 24 hours, but not in room. Juices at breakfast and wrapped donuts only. I select this hotel because it is the best value in the area.
- 5/5
Although an older facility, the staff is exceptional. Great location to all Black Mountain events and food Older facility.
- 5/5
Older facility.
- 4/5
Room had some cleaning issues but they didn't really affect me. There were brown marks on a pillow and sheet. Could be something gross, or maybe chocolate muffin residue. But it certainly should not be there.
- 3.5/5
Close to my activity There was what looked like a small amount of leftover or forgotten construction rubble right at the door

I chose this place because Expedia site showed it had a pool and breakfast. No pool. Was destroyed during Hurricane Helene and owner just filled it in. But that wasn’t mentioned on website. Breakfast was coffee, some juice and prepackaged mini muffins. If it’s only a Grab and Go that should be stated. Bedding very worn out, cigarette burn and some holes. Bathroom floor was filthy. I will say it was quiet at night and the towels were nice.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4.5/5
Good location clean and comfortable at the right price. Plus there’s a Mexican restaurant across the stream
- 4.5/5
Breakfast is muffins, coffee, and juice. Great location in black mtn, clean. The curtains in the room don't completely block the outside lights.
- 4/5
Safe clean environment.
- 5/5
Clean, renovated, and pet friendly!
- 4/5
The property parking was clean so was my room.
- 5/5
Our go to for a quick stay
- 5/5

- 4/5
Rooms clean, staff was great, out door sitting was very nice, stayed 2 nights, could of emptied trash after 1st night
- 3/5
Blankets and sheets were dirty
- 5/5
Very nice, clean room.
- 3/5
Alright for a one night stay. No real negatives. Price was great.
- 5/5
Room clean and comfy Staff are so nice
- 5/5
I always stay here when I am in town.
- 5/5
I was impressed with my stay at Super8 in Black Mountain. Room was very clean and efficient. Staff was friendly and informative. I will be back.
- 4/5
Breakfast offerings were less than basic. It included only coffee, 2 juices, & one type of packaged muffins. No cereal, milk, fruit, or even hot chocolate for kids
- 5/5
A very nice motel in a delightful area. Only spent one night but would have loved to stay longer
- 2/5
I’ve stayed at worse places but never going back.

Everything was good.
- 4/5
It was clean and quiet
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Breakfast offered only packaged muffins and/or coffee. Internet access was "spotty". The staff was kind and offered assistance when needed. Parking was good. Conveniently located to historic downtown Black Mountain. Good value.
- 1/5
We could not get entry into our room so I got the desk clerk to help us, he overrode the door lock, but still the keys did not work, so we could not go out together, otherwise we would have been locked out again!! the area around the hotel was nice, but we had a room at the back facing a cement parking lot and little else. The beds were comfortable, but the room was really dirty though the bedding looked clean! there were feces on the wall next to the toilet which had stained the wall and it had not been cleaned well, my husband refused to use the bathroom for showering because it looked like it had never been cleaned. There was a bad smell in the room, I had to spray body spray around to be able to go the bed in there. Never did find the gazebo the picture shows. This is false representation and I am very disgusted with Wyndham adding their name to this property. Its hard to trust them again!
- 4/5
Nice location to vist Black Mountain. Restaurants and shopping nearby. Pretty grounds with seating. Beds were very comfortable.
- 2/5
there was no channel guide for the TV. and there was no mini coffee maker in the room. we won't stay here again and if possible would like our credit card refunded
- 5/5
Great value! Clean well appointed room.
- 1/5
The hotel is rundown and not as clean as it could be. The walls are as thin as rice paper. We heard the people in the next rood talking until 2:30 AM. No coffee maker. The toilet didn't flush right and had to be plunged. The mini fridge made banging noises all night.
- 4/5
Overall it has improved each year I have stayed there. Thanks, Gary
- 4/5
It was adequate
- 5/5
Clean comfortable room at a great price
- 5/5
No decaf coffee but all else was good
- 5/5
Very comfortable. Perfect for one night.
- 4/5
Heater control did not work properly and bet mattress were terrible. Stall was very courtesy and surroundings were quite.
- 5/5
YES, ROOM WAS GOOD, SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT.
- 4/5
Not all that clean. Needs upgrading. A "therapy" pig stayed in the room beside us, grunting during the night.
- 5/5
Clean and convenient to down town.
- 4/5
Clean, convenient, mostly quiet
- 5/5
Nice stay
- 5/5
Nice place - we will be back
- 4/5
Shower was outstanding. Staff were very good. Bedding good. Overall a good value
- 4/5
A frequent flyer at this location. Love the outdoor space that replaced the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful as usual. Only complaints are my neighbors were loud, and my bathroom floor and shower were dirty.
- 3/5
Room needs to clean, staff is good, better to have some cereal instead of just muffins
- 5/5
Very courteous staff.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay for a trip to the mountains. It's within walking distance of the town. It's nothing fancy but definitely met my needs.
- 5/5
The man working the front desk late was so kind and courteous, he made a bad evening better for sure! The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and it was nice to have a fridge & a microwave in the room!
- 4/5
A little noisy but other than that, a pleasant stay. Room was clean. Staff were friendly and check-in quick and easy.
- 5/5
It is peaceful
- 3/5
Dirty room, thin blankets, terrible breakfast. Not a great experience. Will not be back.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Clean room. Quiet
- 5/5
Great value,redone room,quiet
- 4/5
Clean space. Enjoyed my stay. The breakfast could use improvement though.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff. Convenient to shops & restaurants.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Easy check in And great coffee
- 4/5
People were nice. Room was basic but clean.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Room was clean. desk staff very pleasant, professional, and friendly.
- 5/5
Another great stay. Clean quiet and great staff.
- 5/5
I felt safe here which is a big thing for me. Staff were friendly and room was mostly clean. Lots of dust but I think that’s to be expected in a motel? Only thing I didn’t care for is at the online check in for the room they listed continental breakfast. What they had was not continental breakfast. It was a grab and go. They had packaged muffins and juice. They should probably reword that. Great stay over all for the price and I would recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in the area!
- 4/5
Room was clean, comfortable and nice size. Parking was good. Walls every thin and could hear noises outside from the parking lot as I was on first floor. However, I would stay here again for a short one/two day stay
- 3/5
I did not stay for breakfast; I had.to be.on the road before it opened. When I stayed there over a year ago, the room smelled fresh. This time it did not. Huge plus is that you can charge your phone on the lamp.
- 4/5
Good location
- 4/5
Affordable and convenient place to stay while visiting our daughter at college.
- 5/5
Rooms are newly renovated. Nice flooring . Price was very reasonable. Did not utilize the breakfast. Lovely area to visit.
- 5/5
Clean. Staff very friendly and nice. Breakfast terrible. Nothing hot to eat only vending type food.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay at this motel more than at any other I've visited. The staff was genuinely welcoming and helpful. The trees and atmosphere around the buildings were pleasant. The room itself was clean and spacious. I used the laundry room and it was clean and spacious as well. I felt comfortable there for 9 days, and if I need a motel in Black Mountain again I would see if this one had a vacancy.
- 3/5
Breakfast very limited. Property showing major signs of aging. Needs major upgrade. Housekeeping very sporadic.
- 5/5
Parking easy. Night very quiet
- 5/5
awesome
- 5/5
Good for a budget hotel, would recommend, only complaint is that the walls are thin
- 5/5
Our second time staying here and brought friends along this trip.
- 2/5
No microwave. No coffee pot - although coffee was available in the office. Had to request a hair dryer from the office. The WiFi was almost non-existent. WiFi kept dropping out only 1 bar on the WiFi fan - most content failed to load and kept buffering. One of the hotel cleaning staff was staying in the room next door - talked very loud even after 10:00 pm. Don't believe the Breakfast available part - processed muffins and Hostess danish - that's it. Nothing else. Room A/C struggled to maintain a cool temp, room tended to be a little stuffy. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Pet friendly hotel - our room did not smell.
- 4/5
Budget motel with very friendly staff.
- 3/5
There were flies in my room. I was able to kill 4 of them, but a couple eluded me. I have stayed here before, but that was a few years back. It is not as nice as was. Definitely a budget hotel experience.
- 5/5
Great area Black Mountain decent hotel
- 5/5
Always clean and staff is always friendly. Only suggestion would be to add recycling containers
- 3/5
Good if you want a budget motel.
- 1/5
First they lost my reservation. First time this has ever happened using Hotels.com in 10 years. Then the room they finally put us in stunk horribly. We gagged. And the sketchy people hanging around added to a bad vibe. We left. On a good note. The guy at the desk was decent.
- 5/5
Everything good and peaceful
- 5/5
Great all thr way around
- 5/5
Nice hotel in the Black Mountain area. Staff is helpful and available.
- 5/5
Good value and clean, comfortable bedd
- 2/5
This hotel did not look like it did in the pictures on your website. It was in a state of disrepair, and the room smelled like dog urine. We also felt unsafe here. We were unable to stay, had to leave. Went to a better hotel up the road. The only good thing about this experience was the clerk who checked us in & out.
- 5/5
Was very nice. Very accomodating. The free pet policy is wonderful. I love the Flat Creek!
- 5/5
It is ok. Pool is under construction. Very basic breakfast. Easy parking and super clean air
- 5/5
The only thing I would change would be to actual have breakfast if they say there is breakfast in the morning instead of just muffins!
- 4/5
No breakfast, but good coffee. Pool was out of service. Rooms were nice.
- 4/5
The breakfast was certainly lacking - prepacked muffins, coffee and juice. That was it.
- 4/5
Comfortable stay in a quiet property. No frills but everything you need for a night or two. Friendly and helpful staff. I would consider staying here again.
- 5/5
Great for a business trip. Wasnt on vacation so had everything I needed, was clean and quiet.
- 2/5
Apparently they are having trouble finding help. Desk staff was friendly and helpful. I was woke up a few times by inconsiderate guest.
- 3/5
Very old property. Exterior very off-putting. A bare-bones facility inside and out.
- 5/5
Best value in the area. No hot breakfast. Clean. Friendly staff. Easy check in and out.
- 3/5
Room had been repainted and new flooring due to the recent flood.
- 3/5
The bed was ok, but the room had a strange smell that wasn't great. Breakfast was just coffee, packaged muffins and some juice.
- 5/5
Fast and friendly check in. The rooms are clean and comfortable. An older hotel but seems to be kept up. Breakfast is just muffins and coffee is around the clock. Cameras everywhere which made me feel safe. The only downfall was the pool not being available.
- 5/5
Me and my husband stayed here for our anniversary. The staff was friendly and the place has a beautiful setting. We will definitely go back!
- 5/5
Place is cheap in price but a nice place to sleep.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Everything was A-1
- 5/5
The only issue we had was the faucet in the bathroom leaks and water trickled to the floor and the drain in the shower needs unclogged.
- 5/5
Worth the price
- 3/5
What was the purpose of blocking the parking spot?
- 4/5
Check in was quick
- 5/5
nice updates
- 2/5
Below average rating because the room was not clean and although Black Mountain is a safe area, the motel specifically felt unsafe. Staff was friendly though.
- 5/5
Easy online scheduling, best value in area, immediate check in with online pre registration. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Really sweet staff and comfortable room. The only reason not getting five stars is room looked like it needed paint or some love.
- 3/5
Room smells of smoke.
- 4/5
Convenient and comfortable
- 4/5
we took two rooms next to each other- one was just a bit musty but both were spacious, clean, relatively quiet and very serviceable. Limited selection of muffins for breakfast so ate at a nearby Subway restaurant - savings on the rooms more than covered the breakfast elsewhere. will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Friendly and clean
- 2/5
Nothing special, staff could be more friendly, they charged $60+ on incidentals a t excessive
- 5/5
The stay was amazing just need to find somewhere to eat for breakfast
- 4/5
Beautiful mountain scenery behind the property. The only slight negative was no cereal with milk and orange juice available. All they serve is a store bought muffin.Considering the prime mountain location it's a good value overall
- 5/5
Immaculate quiet comfy and safe
- 4/5
I was unsure if the air conditioning was working but it got cold in the room so apparently it did. The floor was, a little dirty, just needed swept but otherwise was just fine
- 5/5
The view
- 5/5
The area is clean and safe
- 5/5
We got what we expected. Our reservation was set and are happy.
- 4/5
This location was surrounded by mountains and very quiet. It was in the middle of the activities we wanted to do on our mini vacation. Everyone was very nice.
- 5/5
Church conference
- 5/5
Great! Stayed in room 131 many times!
- 5/5
Nice quiet place to stay
- 4/5
Best value in area. Clean updated rooms. Easy online booking. Friendly staff. No hot breakfast.
- 4/5
I came to the area to help rebuild after the hurricane damaged homes there. The hotel was close to where we were working and it was quiet. The price to stay a week was fair and the room was clean. That was all I needed while working. The swimming pool was empty but I was not there to swim and didn't care about that. It was just a place to sleep and the bed was comfortable and quiet was all I needed. I will be returning there in the fall to volunteer and plan on staying at the same hotel.
- 4/5
Quiet area. Clean room. Good value for the money.
- 5/5
Very nice Super 8. Everything was excellent
- 4/5
Affordable & good location
- 4/5
Only a half mile walk to downtown Black Mountain
- 5/5
Great facility especially for the price!
- 3/5
There was a dog in the room next to mine barking and crying one morning. It was annoying to wake up by that.
- 5/5
Nice people
- 4/5
Nice and simple. Good for price.
- 4/5
I didn't like that there was construction everywhere. Pick-up trucks taking two parking spaces. There was no coffee in the room.
- 4/5
Convenient and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Easy online booking and pre check in process so received room card immediately on arrival. Friendly staff. Lots of parking. Clean updated room. **Excellent value**. Limited breakfast, fresh coffee all day. I'll stay here again.
- 4/5
Very trashy outside. Door matt was very muddy. Dead flies on the floor next to bed.
- 1/5
Very very poor customer service. I will never stay at a Wyndham family hotel again
- 2/5
No heat in the rooms on a 30 degree night. When I asked about the heat in the morning the front desk just told me "the heaters don't work very well when it's cold". The guy who checked me in was very nice but that comment about the heat really got to me. Also the "breakfast" provided was basically walmart pastries and coffee, nowhere near a real meal.
- 3/5
Bed was comfortable. Coffee not the best. Tv was good. Needed up dating.
- 4/5
They serve Breakfast (but not many options, basically muffins and coffee etc). This is very close to downtown of Black mountain.
- 5/5
Very good
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
Reception attendant was personable and helpful.
- 5/5
The room was clean. The bed was clean. The room was in a modern style. The staff is very courteous and nice. The only complaint I have is that other guests were rude at time by having elongated loud conversations in front of my room. Overall, I had a good experience. It was a good room and a good price.
- 5/5
Walkable to town, reasonably priced, comfortable. What else do you need.
- 5/5
Good for stopovers
- 5/5
Considering they just went through a major flood. The room has been renovated and they are open for business.
- 1/5
Unfortunately this property was damaged badly in recent flooding. I could find no mention of this in reviews on Expedia. Entire first floor is gutted/ being renovated. Do not stay here until renovations are complete!!
- 5/5
We stayed not long after Hurricane Helene (about 6 weeks later). While the hotel had suffered some damage, I thought our stay was great! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the hotel was quaint and peaceful and the town was coming back to life.
- 3/5
Typical motel
- 5/5
I loved the area with the bench and the little creek beside it!
- 1/5
From the time I checked in to check out: service was horrible. They charge for my small 10 pound dog, towels were damp, phone didn't work, alarm clock flashed all night. Back parking lots is full of potholes and water .
- 3/5
When we first came in the room, there was a strong odor. It was almost like cat urine? It improved slightly when I turned on the air conditioner, but it never really went away. The bed was fine, but the sofa in our room wasn't...it looked like there were back cushions, but it was actually hollow, so your body just collapsed into the wall. As for amenities: 1) The pool was drained and closed, so no comments there. 2) When we checked in, the desk clerk said that there would be a "little breakfast" in the morning. All that was available was coffee/tea and pre-packaged muffins or sweet rolls. I wasn't expecting a hot buffet, but maybe a banana? 3) There is a little pagoda next to the parking lot with a creek running past it. My husband sat out there to drink his coffee and said it was very pleasant. I don't think we'll stay here again. It was just a place to sleep while visiting our son in Asheville, but I think we'll spend a few more bucks next time to get something closer and cleaner.
- 4/5
Only demerits were: Security lock broken on door, and had to clip gap in curtains shut.
- 4/5
Sheets crumbled up a bit, not fitted too well. Carpet needs replacement.
- 5/5
The room was clean. Provided a comfortable place to rest. No frills. Great value for the price. I would stay there again.
- 3/5
It was functional, but nothing to write home about. The advertised continental breakfast consisted of a cellophane pack pastry off a shelf in the lobby and coffee or juice in a paper cup. The immediate context was positive. A small creek on the edge of the property hosts a funky and very tasty good value Mexican restaurant. We ate there more than once. Location was perfect for whatwe were doing.
- 5/5
Everything was great!!
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice
- 3/5
no regular housecleaning service. Had to go to office for more towels,tp,etc. No coffeemaker in room. 24 hour coffee in lobby. Breakfast was honeybuns and muffins from grocery store.
- 1/5
The pool chairs were filthy. The room was dark. The fridge was propped up with some styrofoam. And I spent the night hearing the people next to us getting it on. It was very uncomfortable. The lady at the reception area looked miserable.
- 3/5
It was fine. No major issues. I didn’t sleep well because there are lights on in the parking lot 24/7 and the curtains don’t do a good job of blocking out the light.
- 5/5
I always enjoy staying here when I have a work meeting in black mountain area.
- 4/5
Nose location, clean and comfortable!
- 4/5
Okay for the price. Staff was good
- 4/5
A pleasant motel to visit. Nothing fancy. A good value.
- 3/5
Staff was friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were decent. But why do they use that cleaner that smells like smoke? We moved rooms twice due to the smell and were told what we think smells like smoke is just the cleaning products they use. Wish they’d use something else!
- 5/5
This is a wonderful and convenient place to stay. One can easily walk into the heart of Black Mountain. I have stayed here many times.
- 4/5
I really enjoyed staying here and will be a return customer. Room was clean and i loved the creek with the ducks and outside seating.
