    The bed was very comfortable and the food was amazing. A foul sewage like odor was present in our room. When we approached the front deck the first evening, we were told that they would look into the issue. The roof was sprayed with a deodorizer only and the foul odor returned. Very unpleasant and we were disappointed in the staff reaction.

    Upon checkout I left my sunglasses on the counter. I went back within a few minutes. Staff refused to look at security camera. Unhelpful, unprofessional I have never had any personal items taken at a hotel. I would not recommend this hotel. The front desk did not answer their phone all weekend. I could not get any one on the phone.

    This is an older hotel, however it is very well maintained and the rooms and baths are modern. It has a charming atmosphere and a beautiful court yard area with lots of seating. Each floor had a station with a coffee maker, ice, fresh fruit and bottled water for your convenience. The hotel is also centrally located. I would recommend the Emeline!

    The atmosphere and location were excellent, making it easy to enjoy Charleston on foot. We loved the restaurant and coffee bar, which added a lot to the overall experience; food & cocktails were amazing. The property was clean, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Thoughtful touches like the complimentary Emeline glass bottle for guests and the coffee and water stations on each floor made the stay feel a little more special and convenient. The beds were not as comfortable as we would expect for a hotel at this price point. The biggest issue, however, was a noticeable musty/mould-like smell in the room, which significantly affected the overall experience. Everything else about the hotel was enjoyable, but the odor made it difficult to fully relax and would make us hesitant to return unless the issue has been addressed.

    Have stayed here very many times. Awesome location. Very nice to stay on the floors with the free coffee, tea, water refills, fruit. Nicole at front desk very friendly. Had trouble connecting with their Netflix but resolved by a technician right away. First time we’ve ever had “excellent”housekeeping service at this hotel. So that was either just who we happened to have or someone at the hotel has actually read and listened and cured prior housekeeping issues.

    Nit picky maybe but here are the bads.. 1) They give you 2 drink coupons, but you have to walk 10 minutes to another hotel to use them. WHAT!? 2)They charge you and additional "hospitality fee" to get more money out of you for no reason. It is for "amenities" like the use of a workout room and wifi that others provide at no cost. 3) They charge you a fee for using a credit card to pay for your stay. REALLY? Who does not pay for hotels via credit card any more. 4) Overnight valet parking is $58. 5) They cut off the TV in your room right at 11:00 when you are supposed to check out. Not a big deal, but it seems like they try to nickel and dime and pick at you. If you do not care about money go ahead and stay there..

    The room was clean, well laid out and a great amount of space. We found the hotel to be great overall, the only slight consideration is the restaurant on the first floor is quite busy, you really need to make reservations most of the time. Also be mindful that if you leave the hotel or need to go to the lobby it's often quite crowded as people wait for seating at the restaurant. We will definitely stay here again.

    Great experience at check in; very friendly & my room was ready early! Hotel is has a beautiful courtyard & restaurant! My room was about small; I had 3 pieces of luggage & no where to put them so I had to store them in the bathroom. When I checked out the person at the desk refused to acknowledge me; I put my keys on the desk and they mumbled something; I said “Excuse me, I did not hear you”; they replied “Nothing”. It was rude, weird and very unprofessional. That really is not what a guest needs as the last impression of your hotel.

    Terrific location-able to walk to almost all activities/sites. Valet parking was expensive but very responsive; never had to wait long for car. Hotel room was charming; enjoyed having a record player and a selection of records to play. Snack bar by elevators provided fresh fruit, coffee, tea, sparkling water 24 hours a day. Delicious brownie placed in room daily. Issue with nighttime noise from live music from wedding receptions right below our windows two nights in a row, but management handled it quickly and professionally. Pricey hotel but many nice features.

    The only friendly people were our waiter and barista. Front desk person was very rude and the hostess at the restaurant clearly hates her job! We vacation to Charleston usually twice per year-first time staying at this hotel. Convenience to everything downtown is great, but wish the hotel stay would have been nicer.

    Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Restaurant and courtyard were great to eat, drink, do a little work and get some sun. Gym is adequate for a quick workout. Walking distance to the harbor, bay, and all the great food and drink in town along, with historical sights. Staff was great.

    The restaurant had a great atmosphere and delicious bread. The hotel was nice but the rooms are very, very dark. I would love additional lighting. The bathroom and shower area had some big cracks and could use some love. It was so nice that they had water and bubble water available to guests. The location is fantastic and the lobby is a dream! There was a wedding on Saturday night and our room was right next to it. With the music blaring and clean up, the noise didn't stop until 11. We have a baby and were not informed that there would be a wedding. So it may have altered our choices. There were at least 4 people in the lobby complaining about the horrific noise and lights from the wedding and the manager wasn't around to help handle those issues.

    Hotel suite decor was dingy. Absolutely no privacy as I opened 104 suite door into main concourse for the hotel. Open door or downstairs window curtain to find guests at hotel restaurant or patio staring right back at you. Outdated carpets and furniture. Cramped into two room split level suite with almost no direct sunlight through two small windows. Bed spread and linens, comforter were rather cheap quality. For me to use 2nd sofa bed, I had to move faux marble coffee table. Just two pillows (without cases) and a sheet for it. Despite high end cost of stay, ($2900 for 3 nights!) none of the three wine bottles placed in room were complimentary $25 ea. Lots of emphasis on booze in decor and amenities and the staff’s approach to defusing tension and stress w guests check-in is to randomly offer you a rum punch when you check in. On positive note, valet service was excellent. Overall a total bust except for the Charleston southern “whiskey gentry” that seem to love the place.

    Have stayed at Emeline numerous times. Great location and nice rooms. Front desk, especially Nicole, are friendly and extremely accommodating. The valets, Mark, Philip and Kahron were excellent. The car was readily available and they were as friendly as could be. The only issue was housekeeping. They forgot to clean our room and unfortunately the housekeeping has always been an issue.

    We have stayed at Emeline multiple times throughout the years. Our first few stays after the opening were wonderful, the last few ones have been hit or miss. We didn't have a big issue this time but have been disappointed by the quality of the service and the cleanliness, or lack of. We booked a suite for 3 people with one king bed and one sofa bed. The sofa bed didn't have any bedding or pillows so we asked the reception to send housekeeping. When we got back to the room, the sofa bed was open and the sheets were lying on top but the bed wasn't made. At $500 a night, it would be nice not to have to make the bed ourselves. Everything we used in the room was not replaced (coffee pods, cotton etc). One day we got only one hand towel for 3 people. Little things but it was annoying to constantly have to deal with that. The room looked clean at first but baseboards, doors, the rack under the sink were really gross. When we checked out, we were presented with a bill that was 3 times higher than we expected. It turned out that 3 different mistakes were made, including the amenity fee that was charged twice per night for one room. Not sure how that can happen. It took us over 20 minutes to check out, the worst part was that the employee was not even apologetic, and borderline unpleasant. We love Emeline for its location but the service really needs to improve.

    The hotel was very nice and the staff friendly. The location was perfectly located in the middle of everything. The room was large. My only complaints are that the bed was worn out and you just sank into it, the rooms were painted a very dark color and there was very little lighting, so it was very dark and dreary in the rooms. Not somewhere I wanted to spend any time.

    The hotel has such a welcoming atmosphere - it's stylish, modern, clean and the staff are wonderful! Not to mention the on site coffee shop and restaurant are both incredible and food and Bev quality were outstanding! We went on a girls' trip for the weekend and were looking for place for 4 of us to be together. The two-king suite was the most perfect set-up with two private bedrooms and a shared bathroom - couldn't ask for more! And it was cheaper than getting two separate rooms anywhere else. Highly recommend this hotel!!!!

    Does service is exceptional. The room condition is beautiful. Everything is excellent, except the mechanical room is in my bedroom, which makes some noise in the middle of the night. Also, since my room is on the first floor, I have no privacy if I leave the drape open. So even in broad daylight, I have no choice but to keep the drip closed and it feels stuffy in the room.

    This hotel was in a great walkable location. The room was fantastic. Sheets and bed were wonderful. Loved the coffee in the morning. The brownie that was left by coffee pot was outstanding. Asked where I could buy some but the were out. There was even an umbrella in the room which came in handy since it rained one day. You can’t go wrong in choosing this hotel.

    Staff was very courteous. However, the rooms are very dark and not exceptionally clean. Our room was not dusted, bed was very low and uncomfortable. Very low water pressure in the bathroom sink. We had to ask for fresh towels. In addition, during our stay, the elevator needed numerous repairs, which made us feel uneasy.

    The water pressure in the sink was horrible. Very weak water stream. The beds need an extra blanket. The water refill station was out of order the whole stay. Some complimentary water should of been provided. The tv remote was very spotty.

    Staff was kind and attentive. The room and overall feel of the hotel was the star of the show. It’s hard to pull off feeling quaint and hospitable, but this place has it in spades. Bonus points for the Nespresso, fresh fruit, and water made available for each floor. Highly recommended!

    Dresser in the room was structurally broken and the bathroom only had one role of TB :( They honored my request for an extended checkout as my flight was cancelled due to the weather then my key was shut off , I went to the desk to reset it and it still would not let me my room. Housekeeping was able to let me in eventually. Was a great spot otherwise.

    The restaurant in the hotel was outstanding. The food and the service were excellent. The room was ok. The shower was terrible. At one point it lost complete water pressure by itself. The water temperature went from extremely hot to ice cold by itself. It’s a shame because we loved the hotel but that left us quite disappointed

    We stayed five nights at Emilie. The room we originally booked was really small. There was no way I could stay there five nights. We asked the front desk if they could upgrade our room or give us a bigger room and they did so. That made a world of difference in our stay. It’s a really pretty hotel and a perfect location to everything. We would definitely stay here again

    We were wrongfully charged a $250 smoking fee, despite the fact that neither my husband nor I smoke. This accusation is completely false and insulting. As if that weren’t bad enough, this was also our first experience ever having to kill a cockroach in the bathroom of a hotel room—something no guest should have to deal with, especially at a hotel of this caliber and price point. When we contacted customer care to dispute the charge, we were hung up on twice, which is beyond unprofessional and unacceptable. We were then told that no refund would be considered until their engineers could test the fire alarm, leaving us stuck with an unfair charge, no clear timeline, and no accountability. Between the hidden fees, false smoking charge, unsanitary room conditions, and dismissive customer service, this hotel has completely failed in providing even basic hospitality. I am absolutely disgusted by how this situation was handled. We will not be returning and will be sure to share this experience with friends, family, and anyone considering staying here. Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere.

    Beautiful hotel in a perfect location but they have a problem with the hot water. We took cold shower 2-3 nights. We called and they were not able to fix it. After reading other reviews it seems to be a problem and they act surprised when you call the front desk to complain. Not acceptable for a hotel of this price. Called 2 nights in a row and no manager ever addressed the problem or reached out to discuss.

    Nice hotel, and perfect location, right next to the city market and many, many fine restaurants. Helpful staff, clean rooms, a very vibrant place. The only negatives were that the thermostat in the room did not work, you could not use your own streaming accounts and were limited to Netflix, the toilet roll holder kept falling apart. One of the quirky themes is the availability of vinyl records and record players, but these were of poor quality. All that being said, however, I would stay here again because of the great location.

    If I were to review the facility night one, I would give it five stars. The bell service and valet personnel were super friendly and we had great service in the restaurant. Overall amenities and hotel facilities were great. I like how each floor has an espresso machine and water filler station. Location in downtown Charleston was great too! Night two was a terrible experience and was not handled as great as I hoped for. While the hotel is dog friendly, a guest left two of their dogs whining in their room all night long while they went out. It was not addressed until 1am in the morning.

    The staff and everyone was super nice and accommodating. They even helped us move rooms since our first room was very noisy. We tried our best to ignore but they moved us to the 4th floor which was a much nicer stay from that regard. The main thing for us was the cleanliness of it all. So everything seemed cleaned for the most part but there were ants all over the room. We first noticed from a cleanliness perspective when we were looking to call the front desk and noticed the phone was disconnected. When I went to go look behind to connect it, it was extremely dusty back there and as I looked up towards the top of the head board, it was pretty dusty too. The biggest thing were the ants though. We noticed them a lot in the bathroom and in the desk area of the room. Mainly in the bathroom though, there was a lot in the bathroom. Overall, the staff was super nice and everything was super close, but the cleanliness was the biggest thing for us.

    We had two rooms facing the courtyard. The carpet in both rooms were in need of cleaning. The cleaning team did not remove used glasses and plates. The setup of the rooms was challenging, table and chairs too large for the small space. The bathroom was on the second level which was also not convenient. The worst issue was the noise level at night and early morning with people arriving and departing dragging their suitcases on the cobblestone walkway outside of the beds. This made sleeping impossible. If considering this hotel, be careful of room assignment.

    Loved staying here! Rooms/bathrooms are beautiful, there’s so much to do in the hotel itself, and the location is walking distance to pretty much everything. We also loved that each floor has a nice espresso machine in the hall, along with carafes you can fill with regular or sparkling water. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful.

    We weren’t crazy about the style of the room. The shower floor was slippery and I had to put a towel on the floor to keep from slipping. The bed was not very comfortable since it was a mattress on a platform. There wasn’t enough lighting in the room. The breakfast was very expensive and the food quality was low. But we enjoyed eating out and shopping.

    The checking-in and out process was easy and very pleasant and I appreciated the room upgrade. Nice area. Just a block away from a main thoroughfare, but secluded enough for it to be relatively quiete. Great restaurants very close by. I will certainly stay there again. Highly recommend it.     The walls are extremely thin, so we could hear the folks in the room next door as well as we would have if they had been in our room. We thoroughly enjoyed the location of the hotel and its accessibility to shopping, the historic district and restaurants. The staff were professional, upbeat, and pleasant.     The Emeline Hotel is very unique. We got upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was a wonderful surprise. They have a great coffee place inside and a small shopping area - big bar and sitting area outside. There sister hotel is the Ryder - so they give you drink tokens and you can get a free drink and sit near the pool if you wish. They did not charge us for valet parking -- which was super cool something to do with our status but yet The Ryder Hotel DID CHARGE 55.-- for parking plus resort fee. Had a nice welcome drink upon arrival

    Excellent location. Superb service by Chico at front desk and Rebecca in restaurant. Food, drinks, pizza delicious. Inconvenient no food between 2:00 to 5:00. Have stayed here multiple times. Hotel still needs to significantly improve the housekeeping in the rooms in several respects. Benefits of stay this time outweighed drawbacks of housekeeping and limited dining hours.

    Beautiful hotel. Pleasant from the moment we checked in. We were greeted at door with luggage cart and provided refreshments at check in. Two king bedrooms with living room was perfect for our family of 5. Bathroom was spacious and a plus that toilet had separate door (this is a huge plus for families all trying to get ready at the same time). Location was perfect- walking distance to market, King Street shopping, and a ton of great restaurants. Hotel had a great restaurant, coffee shop, and outdoor fireplace at night to relax. I highly recommend!

    Most of the stay was great. Front desk was helpful. Room was perfect, comfortable and straightened every day. Bed was comfortable. Bar was lively, with good choices. The house wine was very good. Got some apps to take to the room which were perfect. But several systems were down often. Central coffee makers did not work. Restaurant closed due to pos issues. The system issues didn’t damper our stay but would have been a 5 star without.

    Perfect location right in the heart of downtown Charleston. Plenty of restaurant spots in the area, and the restaurant/bar on-site is great. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and modern. Only small complaint is that our mattress was pretty worn, so there wasn't much support for our back. Probably time for them to upgrade those mattresses so it doesn't feel like you're sleeping in a hole. Otherwise, it was a great experience; we'll return!

    Liked location and facilities. Had multiple problems with this stay. Problems with reservations, housekeeping, billing, lack of toiletries, toiletries never refilled or replaced after use, had to ask 2 times for toilet paper, room not cleaned at all for one night of our stay and no fresh towels left, had to ask 3 times for a blanket, not provided room we had booked, told not available until next day, went to one room for that first night and then no tv and no internet, got moved in wee hours to the room we had indeed reserved.

    Absolutely beautiful hotel but was so disappointed once we got to our room. Little tiny bug things in our room that we're so annoying and pulled back bed and found stained sheets!!!     Additionally, the on-site restaurant, Frannie and the Fox, was excellent, and I appreciated the convenience of having it directly downstairs along with the Clerks coffee shop. I also appreciated how close Emeline is to restaurants, the Charleston Market, and various other places of interest. Many of Charleston’s top attractions were within reasonable walking distance, which I loved. I would highly recommend Emeline to anyone considering visiting Charleston. I truly enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

    The Emeline is located right in the heart of town but is very quiet. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially the concierge. The room was huge and had a comfortable sitting area in addition to the bedroom. The hotel is well managed and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

    My son, who owns an art gallery on Queen, graciously surprised me with an extra night. He was told everything was taken care of, I would not have to change rooms and I was very excited. The next day, I spent most of the day with my son, then came back to my room to get ready for dinner and could not get into my room. I went down to the front desk, was told that I had not properly signed in and was given a new set of key cards. They didn’t work. I went back down to the front desk, was given another set of key cards and they also did not work. I went back downstairs and when I asked if my belongings were still in my room, told they did not know. The lady at the front desk finally got a master key, and thankfully my belongings were still in the room. I had called my son by this time and had decided to leave but was told that my son he would not be reimbursed because they offered me another room as a solution, which I did not ask for, therefore wasn’t a solution for me. I ended up packing, moved to another room, went to dinner. Got back, people were everywhere and a fire truck was there. But the key card worked. The employees were nice. Manager, not so much

    I was really looking forward to our night at this boutique hotel based on reviews I read. It was a very small room, nothing special. The amenities they mention, which by the way you're charged for were blah. The coffe machine on our floor was broken. The snacks on our floor was an apple or orange. My favorite thing was the gin & tonic I had in the bar. Otherwise I'll probably stay at a chain hotel on my next visit to Charleston.

    Large lobby offered a welcoming haven after a day out and about. The on site restaurant was lovely-food delicious too! The staff was great- when we arrived there was an tech issue with card keys not being read-Staff happily walked us to our room to let us in until the issue was resolved.     Our room wasn’t ready until 6pm and there wasn’t really any apology made or reason given. The front desk staff wasn’t welcoming and sometimes wasn’t sure what was going on. The valet crew was amazing, way more friendly than anyone else that worked there. Two out of the three nights we were woken up by people banging on the doors down the hallway between the hours of 12-2 am.

    The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The beds were super comfortable and the showers were great! Our room felt a bit outdated, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience.     The hotel was amazing. Beautiful, with a fantastic coffee shop and restaurant in the lobby. Staff was remarkable- they were always available to help and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. The location is unbeatable! We were in the heart of all the major sites: with almost everything we wanted to do being at less than a 10 minute walk. We barely used our car and felt like everything was super accessible. Room was clean and packed with all the essentials. Bed was super comfortable and bathroom was specious and comfortable. We would recommend and would stay here again, no doubt!!

    Very nice hotel. Enjoyed my stay with a few exceptions. It was nice to have a Nespresso coffee maker on each floor. The water station was nice too. One problem with the coffee maker was that it was not working on any level one of the 3 days I was staying. Not sure if they have a plumbing problem, but the smell at the door of my room was not pleasant, but luckily did not permeate to the room area. We had breakfast in the hotel one of the mornings, and it was delicious. I added 2 eggs onto my order and I feel like the hotel took advantage of patrons by charging $9.00 for the 2 eggs. The hotel is in the heart of the city, close to all the sights. Easily walkable.
