Comfortable luxurious room, nicely furnished. Great breakfast. Five star service. Excellent location. Great spot for a central Charleston stay with excellent service, but few onsite amenities.

This is the 4th or 5th time staying here. The staff is always amazing. They go above and beyond. Girl’s trip, romantic trip - it is the perfect hotel and location. There are many wonderful options in CHS - this is one I will continue to return to and share with family and friends.

The Butler staff was amazing and we loved our stay. Highly recommend The Spectator to anyone visiting Charleston!

Top tier service from the front desk to the valet to the maintenance staff. One of the best overall experiences I've had from a service perspective and the hotel is within walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping in the downtown Charleston.

Regarding the amenities I did not feel though that this was a five start hotel. Outside of the small entry lobby/ bar there is no space to use. The gym can be utilized in a hotel around the corner, but it’s small. We were expecting some rooftop terrace or special experience for a five star. For a downtown city hotel it gives you what you need but seems too expensive for me with the sole focus on the room itself.

From a beautiful in room breakfast, turn down room service with wine and champagne, to romantic craft cocktails at the hotel bar at night, super butler services from lovely Michelle and David, we were so well cared for! And Toby!! Toby gave us a smile at the end of our stay. We will make this an annual trip to the Spectator!

Fantastic stay at the Spectator. The front desk staff made check in very easy and the butler service was very helpful — our butler retrieved forgotten luggage and flowers from our car and brought it directly to our rooms.

The breakfasts were very nice. A variety of styles form full to fruit. The “butler” they push so hard just seems to be a normal hotels room service. Call the desk and they send someone up. Our bathroom was very minimal. A single sink with no vanity top space. We were giving an assisted room. No idea if that made a difference. The room was fairly plain. They have a bar they promote, but we normally ended up across the street at a very popular bar. The location is good. No one helped us bring in our luggage. We drug it up the steps ourselves. For the money, I could not recommend this hotel. I would not pick it next time. I’m surprised it is rated in the top 4 hotels in the city.

Beautiful boutique hotel with top notch service, comfortable well appointed rooms and excellent morning breakfast. We had to leave early one morning for a college visit and the staff had our breakfast ready by 6:30 am with our car waiting for us right outside the door. Another day, we headed to the beach and the staff put together beach gear for us that included towels, chairs and an umbrella. We loved the cereal area of the hotel as well. So much within a short walk.

Amazing in every aspect!

The hotel was clean. The room was spacious. We had a room with two double beds. The bathroom is nice, spa like with heated towels. The location was excellent by as it was in walking distance of notable restaurants, the marketplace and many other attractions. The only thing to note is that the hotel has a bar but no restaurant. Breakfast is delivered to the room each morning. You have to go out for lunch and dinner. The staff was very accommodating.

Breakfast was nice, complimentary and served at the desired time each morning. Each of the butlers had their own personality and were pleasurable.

Chuck and Daryll were a breath of fresh air. They both went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had what we needed. Chuck took the time to get to know what type of restaurant we were looking for and then made dining suggestions. I do not drink caffeinated beverages. They both made sure I had decaf tea choices in the room. Which was so thoughtful. During our stay we saw Daryll more and he was so friendly and pleasant. He definitely added to the enjoyment of our getaway. The room was kept immaculate and the staff in the lobby and bar were always very friendly and professional. We will both be recommending this establishment to others and hope to visit again in the future.

I don’t leave reviews often, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to sing the praises of The Spectator Hotel. Exceptional service without being obsequious. Every aspect of my stay was filled with thoughtful touches and immaculate care.

We had an excellent stay at The Spectator Hotel. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and felt so comfortable and elevated. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish and made everything feel effortless. The location is also perfect for walking to everything. The butler service staff were all absolutely wonderful and no detail went unnoticed by the team. The staff, amenities, aesthetics, the “5 star” Craft Bar, and drink mixologists all make this hotel one of my favorite!

Outstanding in every way. Service better than in the Four Seasons, Montage, etc. They even proactively made us snack bags for a day out! Jim is the absolute best. Bar is great too! Don’t miss the Silence of the Yams cocktail. Sounds weird, but is so fantastic we went back twice! Very well balanced and not overly sweet.

The service was perfect. I truly enjoyed this hotel and its location. The butlers were more than helpful and the front staff was pleasant and so accommodating. The bar was fun and the man who runs it is such a pleasant and skilled drink maker. Loved this trip.

From the moment we arrived until we departed, the staff and service were impeccable. Every extra detail made to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable was greatly appreciated. The bed was extremely comfortable! Having a complimentary mini-bar was very nice after a long day of touring Charleston. Couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience.

Staff and amenities were perfect for us. My only negative comment, is that there were a few places in the shower that had small amounts of mildew. Those need to be taken care of.

The breakfast and the bed mattress could be better. The hotel is beautiful and service was outstanding.

The room was pretty bare bones for $250 a night. Towels were thin and did not include washcloths. Getting fresh towels was not easy. No Kleenex in the room except a tiny 3-tissue pack that was not replaced after we used the first one on Day 1. I couldn't get an iron brought to the room. Only option was to pay for the staff to press my clothes. I never did find the price schedule for that and just went out wrinkled. Pillows were very hard and uncomfortable but the bed was fine and the linens were decent and clean. This hotel was overall adequate and clean, which is my top priority. Public spaces are luxurious but the standard rooms aren't anything special. Elevators are super fast which was really nice as we have stayed at far more expensive places that had terrible elevator service. This seems like a convention hotel with lots of groups staying here.

This “boutique” hotel was spectacular, all around! The staff went out of their way on so many levels. Immaculate room, over-the-top amenities, concierge was great, and with a great location . . . Book it!

Great location, service and hotel. This was our first time in Charleston and I would recommend staying here to anyone visiting town. The hotel decor is welcoming and the rooms are very clean. The standout was the personalized service and attention to detail the staff made during each interaction. Standouts were the reception with Wade and breakfast service in the bar with Darrel! Thank you for making us feel so welcomed.

Our first time to Charleston and loved our stay at The Spectator. The staff is excellent here and the room and bath were large and stocked with complimentary extras daily from snacks to coffee and soft drinks you don't see in high end hotels or most anywhere for that matter. The bar is lively and fun for that nightcap.

Treated like royalty from the moment you pull up to the door. Professional , warm staff in every department. As an avid travelers very few places make you feel the way The Spectator Hotel does . If you want an incredible experience visiting Charleston, SC , I advise you to place yourself in the professional hands of The Spectator. Every staff member has unlimited ideas of must sees through the city and all the inside on hidden gems to visit. Clean , professional, and inviting. We will be returning.

This hotel is just stunning, from check in to check out, everything was just perfect. So many little extras, absolutely seen and loved. Was a wonderful stay.

The beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and they had umbrellas available at the door, which were definitely needed. It's located in the French Quarter. Tons of restaurants and attractions around. We liked Magnolias and O Bar. If we come back to Charleston I would be thrilled to stay there again. The VIP deal Hotels.com offered ended up being way more generous than I had expected. The wonderful Spectator staff members are why.

The Spectator was everything I imagined and MORE! The amenities (refillable snacks, butler service, bikes) made my experience feel so special and comfortable. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced! It was my 3rd summer in Charleston, and out of all the places I've stayed at, this one BY FAR takes the cake!!!

From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff catered to all of our needs and then some. Every guest had access to a butler. The first night, Chuck, arranged for dinner reservations, and when we returned he had several brochures, maps, and walking tours, along with dinning options. We appreciated that very much. Each evening there was a dessert shot in a chocolate shot cup. They were very good. In addition, all food and beverage items in the room were free-so many places charge extra. Breakfast was included in our stay and we had several choices. It included room service. The room was always clean and tidy with plenty of available toiletries. Whatever was needed-the butler service would handle, including ironing and shoe shining. In addition, when you arrive, you are given a complementary beverage of choice. They have valet service. We checked out of the hotel and attended a tour. The hotel staff was gracious to allow our car to remain on the property so we could attend. I highly recommend The Spectator Hotel. We will definitely stay again.

Stayed here for the 4th of July weekend for the first time and LOVED IT! The suite that we were in overlooked the day/night market, it’s located 6 minutes (in foot) from the beach area, there are TONS of restaurants (also within a 5-10 minute walk) and the staff was amazing! The Spectator still has butler’s! It was a little weird for me (not gonna lie) but also pretty cool! There isn’t a thing on earth that is beyond their reach! David gave us several options for dinner that turned out to be close to the hotel and excellent! Our suite came with a complementary bottle of wine, really good snacks and drinks (like cold coffee, water, and soda) that were refreshed every day, the suite was nicely appointed, comfortable bed, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, a superior bathroom that doesn’t allow you to hear your neighbors! It was a perfect weekend! We’ll absolutely go back!

I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Charleston. The service was amazing and the amenities were great. My daughter and I went to Charleston for a 3 day vacay and the Spectator was a gem. Staff and breakfast were great. Lobby and lounge was very pretty. I liked that you needed key to use elevator, not everyone does this today and it def is a bit more security for guests. Close to king street and walkable to college, rainbow row and many other attractions. We chose to park our rental car less than a block away which was half the price of hotel valet just an fyi…I will def be staying here again asap.

This is an excellent, sophisticated small hotel with very helpful and responsive staff. While there is no restaurant onsite they do serve an excellent breakfast in your room. One of its great attractions, though, is the fantastic bar just off of the lobby. And the bartender and his assistant are absolutely the best…friendly, knowledgeable and a source of good information about Charleston. Nothing not to like here!

This was a gem! Service from curb to room was extraordinary! We particularly loved the personal butler services from Will and Jim. Room came with complimentary waters/sodas and a basket of local snacks. We were kind of obsessed with the Bennie Wafers and and were later provided a few extra little bags on a silver platter. Cant say enough about the service. Room was well appointed with lovely bamboo matress, cotton sheets, plently of charging ports, a marble bathroom with lovely local toiletries, turndown service (which included some chocolates and water), complimentary breakfast served in our room, etc. I could go on and on. Oh they also have complimentary bicycles! Dont hesitate to book this hotel!

Double vanities and towel warmer in bathroom were a huge plus as was the Nespresso machine and complimentary bottles of water refreshed daily in our room. Beyond excellent service and attention to detail. We had an amazing stay with extraordinary service. They thought of everything before you knew you needed it. Cocktails and food were delicious too.

It was good….not great. Neat bar, but bartender is grumpy and make you feel that your inconveniencing him by ordering a drink. Also, last call at 10 pm seems odd for a hotel bar. Breakfast was terrible, don’t eat there.

We love everything about the hotel. From the time we arrived-from the valet, check-in staff butler staff, cleaning staff and the bartenders-everyone was so friendly and helpful. Butlers,Jim and Will,were very informative on things to do/places to eat. Will was a hoot-he made us laugh every time we saw him. I’ve been to many hotels across the world and this is at the top for sure! We thought you guys may have gone to Japan to get your service training. We cannot complain about anything. We definitely will stay here again when we visit the city again!!

Room.s and restrooms were generous in size. Very nice rooms.

Everything was great except for the breakfast. The eggs were watery. The decaf coffee did not taste good. The bakery items were not fresh. They wee hard and stale. The yogurt was ok but way too sugary. We did not have breakfast the last day because we tried each item and we were not impressed,The bikes that you are allowed to use are in very poor condition and the seats are not stable. The majority of the staff were very nice!

Lovely space well situated

Amazing. Favorite hotel, daily breakfast delivered to the room, bikes, butler service included. Bed is so comfortable and the bathroom is beautiful. Highly recommend. The location in the middle of downtown is perfect, buts still in a quiet location. We stayed with our 1 year old, the property had a pack and play with a crib sheet all set up and ready for us. Refrigerator was also perfect for our family.

As close to the ideal hotel room and service to go with it as there is in Charleston. The butlers that attend to your needs are a unique feature that matters to the overall stay. The room is well appointed, quiet and dark yet with a view over the busy parts of the city. A welcome island in Charleston.

This is a wonderful property with outstanding service. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was very attractive and comfortable as was the hotel lounge. My review is 4 vs 5 star as there is not restaurant on site and even though breakfast is included in the room rate, it’s not up to the same quality as the rest of the hotel.

The hotel was absolutely amazing. This is definitely a first class hotel. The private butler, the nightly nightcaps, complementary garment pressing. So many great things i cant keep track. The decor, the vibe everything was great!!!!

Excellent! The best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The hotel was beautiful & immaculate. All the staff were very friendly & helpful, especially the butlers on staff. The butler Jim was especially helpful with restaurants & activities to go/see. Room was beautiful & came with complimentary breakfast, beverages in the mini fridge, & snacks (which were all excellent.) We were well taken care of & catered to. The butler team even went out of their way to offer a special treat to celebrate our baby moon vacation with a baby book, onesie, bottle of sparkling juice, & thoughtful note. This will be the hotel we stay at every time we come to visit Charleston.

This hotel was wonderful! One of the best I’ve ever stayed at in my travels. The bar was beautiful with delicious cocktails. A nightly aperitif was in our room every evening when we got back from our adventures. Chocolate “rocks” by the front door for snacking. Complementary snacks and non alcoholic drinks in the mini bar. Delicious breakfast in our room provided every day. And service was amazing! Do yourself a favor and stay here.

Great hotel, excellent staff, very nice room and an excellent location. Valet parking good but a little pricey. Included breakfast good but selection could be improved with maybe a breakfast sandwich or hot cereal addition. Overall rating five stars!!!

Chipped furniture, stains on the bathroom floor, tattered rug, stains on the furniture in the room. Definitely not one of the better hotels that we stayed at.

Beautiful and spacious rooms, bed is luxurious and very comfortable. Butler service is amazing. Very close and walkable to sights and pier. Many options for food and King St is only a few blocks away. Loved it.
