Reviews
The hotel is praised for its convenient location near downtown attractions and shopping, as well as friendly and helpful staff. However, guests frequently mention that the property is dated and in need of updates, particularly in the rooms and bathrooms. The price of parking is also a common complaint.

has been on our bucket list for a very long time and we were happy to visit and enjoyed spending time taking in the city, culture, people, and the many wonderful and amazing sights and things to do and experience. The staff provided us with outstanding customer service and did an excellent job in making us feel welcome and, comfortable making our trip to Charleston, NC memorable, and remarkable. Having a free and delicious breakfast every morning was a great treat! We are definately looking forward to a return visit in the near future. Thank you for everything! With our best wishes and many blessings, Kathryn & Anthony

Great location and great hotel! The only thing we missed was a refrigerator in the room but we dealt with it. Wouldn’t give up such a great location for a refrigerator!! Would stay here again!!

location, room size, beds The front desk staff wasn't very helpful, we checked out and return to the property 2 hours later, after we realized we forgot a sweater inside the closet, that we need for our long flight. The first response of the front desk agent was " I need you to go on line and fill a claim, and if you stuff is here will be send it to you. I explained to this person that we left the property no long ago and we need our stuff to travel. She made uS wait and after 20' min she said that the housekeeper didn't find anything at our room, and asked again to fill the claim on line. We request to look at our the room ourself, she found the task of opening the room door was very complicated, she claimed to be the manager on duty. Another staff member came to help, she was able to open the room, that was already clean, as nothing was there, she asked the housekeeper, who said that they found our stuff and it was at the housekeeper office. We left the hotel 40' later than planned, and have to rush to the airport to don't miss the flight. All the stress caused for a person who didn't want to leave her chair behind the desk and help a hotel guest. I assumed the the hotel doesn't care of the cost of the shipment to send something that it could be easily solve in 5' if the person who is there to help guests cares a little more.

Average 3 star hotel. Nothing of note to indicate anything more. Housekeeping staff sparse and didn’t do much besides making beds and changing towels. If you are a hotel snob don’t stay here. I only did because I was traveling with a friend who is adverse to spending money. I typically don’t stay in anything but 4 star and above hotels so I knew from the start I would be disappointed.

Great location. Let my mom have an early check in and helped her a bunch - as she was there a day before the rest of us.
- 3/5
Great location… we could walk to everything. Room not as pictured on website. Dark and dank. Bathroom smelled… think it was the water? Toilet ran. But the staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. I think it was to expensive for what it was, but it was also during graduation time, so maybe rooms were in short supply?
- 5/5
The staff was so helpful and friend!y. The location within the historic district was perfect!
- 5/5
I highly recommend this property.
- 4/5
The staff was great beds comfy , only thing was the hot water the shower took over 10 minutes to get hot! It was an overall great stay!! We enjoyed it very much !
- 5/5
We really appreciated the full hot breakfast every morning. There were multiple hot and cold choices. All were good. It started our day off right. We choice the Hampton Inn in Old Town due to its location. We chose well. The visitors center is right across the street. There you catch the free city buses and many of the tour buses. We highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
This hotel was wonderful. Very convenient to restaurants and right across the street from the area in which you take your tours. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean room friendly front desk staff easy parking convenient walking distance to King Street and historic downtown area. Would definitely stay again
- 2/5
I did not like the check in process and I think I was overcharged.
- 4/5
This hotel is all about the location. It's directly across from the bus tour pick up/drop off and Meeting Street restaurants and stores. The hotel staff was friendly and kind. The hotel could use some refurbishing and is a bit worn. For example, the carpet tiles in our room were coming up and the couch was dirty enough that you wouldn't want to sit on it. The rest of the room was fine although the toilet was very low - might want to opt for a handicap room assuming the toilets are not so close to the ground. The pool and outdoor area was nice. Gym fairly small.
- 2/5
Staff was pleasant and helpful. Room and bathroom were clean; beds were comfortable. Building is "worn" and could use a upgrade, including better security at elevators, restricting access to floors above lobby level. Outdoor pool was open, but too cool to swim in the first week of May. This hotel is in the Historic District. You are paying for the location. It is not a good value for the money.

The furniture is old, the shower was dated. The room did not have a microwave and refrigerator. A refrigerator was provided when I requested it for storing medicine.

Hotel was nice , breakfast was served every morning , Good basic selections. Room was clean , did not have a refrigerator . AC didn’t go below 72.. was glad it wasn’t too warm out ..

Hotel was clean, staff was friendly; however, they couldn’t seem to keep our reservation straight. We did change rooms. Then at 10:30 pm we had people banging on our door and trying to get in. Then what seemed 30 minutes later, the front desk personnel were callasking is there was someone in the room. We asked for a late check out at 1 pm. She front desk person said no problem. Now I get a call asking if we were staying another night. I reminded them we had a late check out. She said she would adjust the record for room cleaning.

The parking isn't free. There's a garage that cost $40+ day that you use. The location is absolutely perfect. An easy walk to the Pineapple Fountain (maybe 1 mile?) and the free shuttle picks up across the street. I'm so glad we chose this hotel for half the price instead of one nearer the city center. The breakfast was exactly what you'd expect at any Hampton Inn... totally fine, but not luxurious. There is ample space in the dining room. The location is great, very near King Street, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. If we were visiting Charleston again, we'd definitely choose this hotel again.
- 5/5
Breakfast was very good The location is superb for walking everywhere and catching tour buses and the trolley. Lots of good restaurants very close. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again.

Location was great close to most everything in walking distance since we didn’t have a car. Breakfast was very good every morning. Amenities were well provided. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Outdated could have used more lighting in key locations such as around mirrors in the room. Carpet is outdated and a little dirty.

My stay was good my room was clean, breakfast was good, all the staff we dealt with was pleasant. What I didn’t like was that I put microwave on my reservation and nothing. I’m sure I had to pay xtra for that room. Not even a refrigerator was in my room that sucked. Parking was convenient
- 4/5
The room and bathroom were large and amenities worked well. Front desk staff great. Free breakfast not as great as other places but ok. The facility is somewhat worn but kept up nicely and was clean. Nice garden. Convenient to King Street and the free shuttle.
- 0.5/5
The locations was great Very tired. Staff did not acknowledge a Gold Hilton Honours member, allocated worst room in hotel (view a brick wall). Breakfast chaos
- 5/5
So close to the everything! Perfect location! I didn’t know I had to pay for parking. When we stayed at Indigo Inn in August of last year parking was free. Also the room was very clean but it had a smell of cleaning bleachy musty solution.
- 3/5
The desk staff was very friendly. The room was very noisy because we could hear the people above us clomping around at early morning time. The room had 3 lamps, two of which did not work. The maids did not replenish the coffee service, so we called the desk to send some but it never came. The breakfast was so so. It was a dissappointing stay.
- 4/5
Excellent location. Having breakfast included was a plus. Great service. Though the hotel is a little dated the room were clean and spacious. Overall it was a good experience. Walking distance to almost everything.

Usually stay at Hilton Gardens on vacations but especially during spring break becoming too pricey. This Hampton Inn is only new carpet (in the common areas) away from equaling the next level stay. Huge plus: parking garage on site !

Our room was supposed to be ready at 3 o'clock. The staff said that the rooms were not ready but to check it back at three. We check back at three. She said it wouldn't be ready till four. We came back at 4:20 and they still were not ready. It wasn't until I had a fit. The manager helped and gave us a different room. This will be my third stay at this hotel, and I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, I do not know the staff members name who was not very pleasant. I do know it was not Chrystal when she saw that I had a hotel.com reservation. I felt like her whole demeanor changed with my room, even though I am a Hilton member. I was not given a Hilton member bag although when we checked in Matt, the manager said that we were a valued Hilton member. I also do not get any points with Hilton when I stay there and I book through Hotels.com let's just say I'm very frustrated. I have to stay there again the 15th because we have a concert and it's so convenient. I hate to change it. I've stayed there two other times and they were fine. I understand people get busy but that isn't my fault and I should not have to wait an hour and a half for a room and actually I got there at two and usually that isn't a problem either they usually have a room ready. I just feel that they could have done something to accommodate my stay.

Great location, especially for the Cooper River Bridge Run. Can walk to everything.
- 4/5
Location was great, staff was friendly, and the room was comfortable. Our room didn’t have a refrigerator, and there were issues with the smoke alarm going off randomly. There was a small issue with the parking deck and they wanted to over charge us significantly, it was handled quickly.

The front desk staff(Crystal especially!)was very helpful! Location was good. The noise at night! Loud music and a loud metal dumpster being dragged and banged until after midnight and again at 7am!!! Very little sleep!

- 2/5
Location was great. Hotel was lacking. We had a first floor room. It was so dark we could hardly see what we were doing. The shower pressure was like a mist- I could barely get the shampoo out of my hair. Our room did not have a refrigerator, which I do not think was disclosed at booking. Some have them some do not. The first room we hauled our stuff to was not what I booked so had to haul it all back down to get to the correct room. Breakfast was good. Very dated furniture and decor. Overall- not worth the ridiculous amount I paid for one night.
- 3/5
Location No blackout curtains. Poor hot breakfast options.

Staff was so nice. Property is so outdated. Bathrooms are OLD. No water pressure. HVAC made noise as if the fan was giving out. Very old, tired, stale, outdated. Looks as if last updated in 1985

Very happy with everything about our stay. Great location with free bus access to the entire historic district steps away! Saved a bundle on Ubers and taxis! Great breakfast too.Attentive and friendly staff.
- 4.5/5
LOCATION, FRIENDLY STAFF RESERVATIONS WERE DECEICTFUL, WE COULD BARELY AFFORD THIS TRIP AS IT WAS, )BUT MY MOTHER JUST PASSED & MY HUSBAND WANTED TO TAKE ME AWAY.) SO UPON CHECKING IN & BEING CHARGED $41 A DAY FOR 4 DAYS PARKING BEING ADDED TO OUR TOTAL WAS AS SHOCK!! WAS NEVER STATED AT BOOKING OR ON WEBSITE ANYWHERE, OR I WOULD HAVE LOOKED FOR SOMETHING MORE AFFORDABLE EVEN IF IT WAS OVER THE RIVER UPDATE .. MANAGER RMADE IT RIGHT & REFUNDED US THE PARKING WE DID NOT EXPECT
- 3/5
It was ok but not great. I wish we had been a little closer to the center of town, and breakfast was a bit limited. Gym was super tiny.
- 3/5
Air conditioning wasn’t working properly, they did rectify it
- 5/5
Location was ideal. Walkable to local attractions and historic down town. Plenty of parking in the garage. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay again.
- 4/5
There were no hooks or rods in the bathroom at all. No place to hang a wet towel or hang up a toiletry bag. There was no shelf in shower to place personal items like a razor or soap.
- 3/5
The staff was excellent, the rooms lacked cleanliness.
- 3/5
Location was nice. I would use Gps use 35 John St. So you can find it. It’s actually right next to the parking garage. You literally park here to check in then continue into the city parking garage. Hotel is next to a music hall which was great because we got to see Chase Matthew play that night. The old town trolly is across the st. Great information and ask for Major Ted he was very informative. Back to the hotel- it was just average for me. It can use some updates like new carpet in hallways and room. Breakfast was not very good. Didn’t not enjoy their eggs at all. The flavor was weird and texture. The maple cream waffles were delicious though. The staff were pleasant and the sitting areas were nice but overall I don’t think I would stay here again. Just to old and musty I thought. It didn’t have that fresh clean smell in my room. Couch was not very clean looking either. Definitely needs some updating.
- 1/5
Charged much more than advertised. They didn't mention that it cost $49 a day for the garage. Bill was almost $400 dollars more that advertised for a 3 night stay. I would have stayed somewhere else if I knew that actual price. Web site didn't mention parking costs. Front desk didn't mention it was $49 a day. Will never stay at any Hilton property in the future. Plus breakfast was terrible, even the scrambled eggs were bad.
- 4/5
Clean rooms; amazing guest service. It’s a bit disappointing in that it doesn’t have a bar or market/store on premises for snacks. Not even vending machines! They need to upgrade a bit.

The belive that the housekeeping is doing their best but could lend a bit more courtesy with the elevators . Property is busy and does have some areas in need of extra care. Beds are probably my biggest complaint..very uncomfortable . Lastly $40 a day self parking what a rip.
- 1/5
AC not working. Charged 41 per day to park on sure when Expedia didn't say that. That's not right. Bed was old and cheap. Towels were not soft. Not a great experience for me there. I won't stay there again.
- 5/5
front desk guy was amazing when we had an embarrassing accident. he was kind and offered help beyond what we could have asked for. It made an evening that might have been ruined into one we could relax and enjoy. I wish I got his name but was about 7 pm last night. white male.

Nice, clean room. Great service!
- 5/5
Rooms clean and comfy, breakfast with variety of food as a continental breakfast, helpful and nice staff, well location.
- 5/5
Checking in is a bit of a hassle with location, BUT the staff definitely makes up for any inconvenience. Hotel is always clean and quiet. Love the coffee/hot chocolate bar available 24/7. Was perfect coming in one chilly evening! .
- 3/5
The hotel is older so the rooms could use a renovations. They show their age. More specifically, the HVAC systems are noisy and the bathrooms, while clean, need updating to remove the old wallpaper, dirty tile grout and gobs of caulk around the tub, etc. The staff was great and friendly so I give them 5 stars but only 3 stars for the condition of the hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel is clean and comfortable with exceptional staff members. The breakfast buffet is very good with different foods to choose. The hotel is also within walking distance to restaurants and Charleston main points of interest which makes it convenient for sightseeing
- 5/5
Yes, the room was very clean At the front desk we were greeted by Jazz She made our trip very pleasant You are fortunate to have her as the face of the Hampton Inn as you check in

As I was completing the check-in, I asked the desk clerk to confirm the cost of the reservation and asked that the cost be split between two credit cards. His response was that the cost was $758.52 ($379.26 x 2) At that point, I showed my reservation confirmation from Expedia to the clerk that listed a price of $751.95. His response was that the electronic communication from Expedia required that Hampton Inn charge me $758.52. He further told me that he did not know why they sent the reservation to me showing the lower rate. Soon, Matt, the manager, came out of his office over to the side to find out what was going on. I explained to him that there was a discrepancy between the Expedia confirmation and the cost that the desk clerk was charging me. Matt diffused the situation by telling me that it would not be a problem. He assured me that he would take care of it, and, we would be charged $751.95 at check out. I questioned Matt as to when the correction would be made and he told me that it would be taken care of at check-out. My sister and traveling companion, Rev. Dr. Naomi Davis, was listening to the conversation. We believed Matt intended to “take care of the problem”, we completed the credit card payments, and we went to our room. Recommendation: Don't claim that you are going to solve a problem prior to running a customer's credit card and, then, change and deny your responsibility after you have taken the money. That's bad behavior.

- 5/5
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable. It was the best hotel stay I’ve ever experienced.
- 2/5
In the middle of the night, the neighboring guests were banging on the door, trying to open the door. I woke up to notice that the door was cracked open, and the only thing preventing a stranger from entering was the metal safety feature. I shut the door back and called the front desk. The front desk staff member was very attentive and was able to relocate us to a new room quickly. It was a very frightening and unsafe situation as I was traveling alone with my daughter.
- 5/5
The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The room was large and spacious. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. Great location too - very walkable to just about all of the tourist attractions!
- 3/5
Room has not been updated in a long time. Had several problems with Heating/AC system. Garage elevator not working, Shower not great.
- 4/5
Very good value and perfect location for Food And Wine Classic. Comfortable bed and large room.
- 5/5
We always love staying at a Hampton inn.
- 4/5
Staffs very good
- 2/5
The hotel is tired and dated, with worn furniture and outdated finishes. The lobby is damp and smells like smoke. Way overdue for a complete remodel. Stayed here out of convenience. Will not be back.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean. This hotel could use some updates. The staff was friendly! The hotel is a great location for all things downtown Charleston!
- 2/5
Staff were unfriendly and discurteous, including manager,Matt. Room was not very clean, stains on floor and couch.Water pressure in shower was weak Housekeeping hung up dirty towel left on bathroom floor to be changed gor clean ones. Location is fabulous. Coffee is great.
- 4/5
Clean room. Great location. Good breakfast.
- 5/5
We walked and walked everywhere. We went shopping and dined nearby. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was good too. Lots of options.
- 3/5
I was very happy with the service I got to check in early becoming had to a wedding to go to around the corner.
- 4/5
Great location on Meeting street, good breakfast
- 4/5
Very nice reasonable place to stay in Charleston. Would return again to same place
- 5/5
Everyone was so nice & helpful. In a good location. Quick elevator. Pleasant stay.
- 5/5
The Hampton Inn Charleston Historic District was conveniently located and a short walk or ride to many activities and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good variety and the staff worked hard to keep everything replenished. The rooms and beds were comfortable and surprisingly quiet.
- 5/5
It's proximity to King St. and the Market area was great and it didn't break the bank.
- 5/5
Walkable downtown location
- 3/5
The property needs a complete makeover. Very dated.
- 5/5
Convenient location in Charleston Historic District at a fair price
- 5/5
Excellent location. Hotel was spotless, room very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Breakfast was good and staff are great The rooms need to be updated wallpaper peeling in bathrooms air conditioning made so much noise Dogs barking in room and hallway at 10:30 pm and waking you up at 7 am was not on my agenda
- 5/5
Location is fabulous as we had tickets to a show at Charleston Music Hall. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful, remembered us and details about our stay. They are pet friendly. The rooms are more sound proof than most hotels which is wonderful for great nights sleep but also for having pups stay calm when in the room.
- 3/5
The bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly and the free breakfast isn’t worth the trouble.
- 4/5
Great hotel. Nice breakfast. Clean room. A/C and heat didn’t work very well. We needed staff to adjust it for us.
- 4/5
Failed to clean our room. Threw a clean comforter on top of unmade bed. Ledt no clean towels or coffee supplies on day o ne of our stat
- 5/5
It was so convenient to all the places we wanted to visit we were able to walk everywhere. The staff was especially helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Everything we needed was very nice. Hotel staff was exceptional
- 4/5
Location was excellent. Could not have been better. The rooms are a bit outdated. Old carpet, worn furniture, etc. The bed was hard. Overall, we will go back just because of the location.
- 3/5
There was a drawer on the dresser that wouldn't stay closed and we kept hitting our shins on it. The pillows were dreadful. The place looked old and not updated. It was the pits paying $41 a day for parking.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Rooms were clean. Location was superb! Walkable to various restaurants and shopping!
- 5/5
Close to downtown and staff was very accommodating. Pet friendly and park @$40 per day
- 5/5
The Hilton in Historic Charleston is a beautiful well cared for 200 year old building. It is clean, great breakfast and the parking building is right next door. With the free shuttles right across the street it makes touring the city perfect. It is within walking distance to some great restaurants, shopping and Museums. The staff is 5 star, its a great place.
- 4/5
Hotel as a whole was good. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, well kept properties. Only complaint was the smell in room 227. Either someone had a wet dog in there right before us or there is an underlying condition that needs to be checked out.
- 5/5
Na
- 5/5
Friendliness!!
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Matthew was always attentive to our needs
- 3/5
We have stayed at other Hampton Inns across the country. This one was not updated. The bathtub was old. There was no fan in the bathroom to help with the moisture. On the positive side, the room was cleaned every day. Other Hampton’s clean every other day.
- 5/5
Clean, staff was super helpful and great location.
- 5/5
Great place to stay in Charleston. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Very overpriced for what you get…do yourself a favor and go with another property. Mattress was awful, lumpy with no support, needs replacing terribly. Carpets were old & dirty as well.
- 3/5
Hotel is outdated but in a great location.
- 5/5
Very friendly, helpful staff. Great location, walking to everything we did was easy. Beautiful outdoor seating area, generous breakfast options, coffee 24/7. Overall an excellent visit.
- 3/5
Staff were very good and they went the extra mile to cater for missing amenities and information, No microwave, no mini fridge, no kettle, no lock box and a huge $42 per night to park which was not mentioned on the web. I have medicines which need refrigerating and the staff kindly accommodated me by placing them in the employee fridge along with milk and orange juice which we brought. The "excuse" for no fridges in the rooms is that they gobble too much electricity. (This even though the hungriest mini fridge runs around 100 watts : about the same as a light bulb)
- 5/5
Walkable to historic sites, shopping, restaurants etc.
- 5/5
Everybody was friendly. Everything was clean. Breakfast was nice. It was close to everything and especially the free city buses across the street was wonderful and convenient. Will come back for sure.
- 2/5
Very, very old very very beat up very very dirty very very marked up and ripped up and spotted and stained and the cleaning staff doesn't talk to the front desk really not good or the maintenance stack air conditioning broke for two days took forever to get it fixed horrible
- 5/5
This hotel has a great location in downtown Charleston, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great!
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
This hotel is located so you can easily get around Charleston.
- 5/5
Close to everything!
- 5/5
Free shuttle transportation directly across the street at the Visitor Center.
- 5/5
Very attentive and friendly staff.
- 5/5
All the staff were wonderful and helpful. I didn't like the $41 per day for parking - thank goodness we had a handicapped pass. Breakfast was great every day.
- 3/5
Hotel is musty and the rooms are tough to sleep in because of the smell. Staff was helpful in trying to find an alternate room but many of them smelled that way.
- 4/5
The continental breakfast was good, the eggs on the first day we were there were not good at all, by the 3rd day, they got a little better, but not as good as they should be! Overall, I would stay there again, if they have refrigerators in the rooms!
- 5/5
Located directly across a free bus (without guide or commentary) directly across the street and near several very nice restaurants.
- 4/5
Very pleasant stay, would not hesitate to book again. Very nice folks, clean and efficient.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel!! Friendly staff - convenient location - clean, good breakfast
- 5/5
Very walkable no need for transportation.
- 4/5
Great staff and nice property. The biggest downer was the crazy air conditioning system in the rooms. As knowledgeableas they were, the front desk staff could even explain how a guest could adjust the HVAC in their room.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
The property needs to be updated and the mosquitoes in the courtyard were horrible. On the plus side the breakfast was good and the location was excellent.
- 4/5
Close to campus and shopping and dining. Room was plenty big and breakfast was what you expect for a breakfast included with stay. Staff was nice and helpful when help was requested.
- 5/5
Mrs Stacy at the breakfast was super sweet and this made our stay even better :)
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
- 4/5
The service and staff is great at the hotel
- 5/5
Nice location.:)
- 5/5
The couch cushions in room are stained, not a pretty site. Didn’t even want to sit on the couch or put anything on it, disappointing
- 5/5
The people were great and very helpful
- 5/5
Nice hotel. In a good location. Friendly front desk personnel. Bathrooom could have been cleaner behind the door.
- 3/5
The air conditioner wasn't working, so the room never cooled below 78°. They moved me to another room, but it also didn't cool.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Staff were beyond welcoming! Lovely to be greeted with cool water, mocktails and snacks on a super hot afternoon. Breakfast was plentiful with plant-based options. First morning there our room was not cleaned. Somehow it was missed. That was our only complaint. Jacqueline was super helpful with touristy ideas. Lovely to chat with. Kudos to the entire team and management.
- 5/5
The location was perfect and the room was great. The breakfast was included which was really nice. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely go back there again.
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff were very helpful
- 5/5
Loved loved loved that it was right next door to the Charleston Music Hall!
- 5/5
The room connected to the courtyard to the pool which was great since we didn’t have to walk in our wet swimsuits inside the AC. The proximity to the visitor center was also great.
- 4/5
No microwave or refrigerator but the front desk guy was amazing!
- 5/5
Great place in the historic district. Really enjoyed the Southern hospitality. The pool and courtyard area was exceptional!
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
All of the above.
- 5/5
Air conditioning didn’t get as cold as we wanted but everything else was very good. Comfy mattresses and pillows. The 1st level rooms are great for accessing the pool. Convenient location to everything.
- 5/5
The staff was so welcoming and helpful. Loved the location of the hotel.
- 5/5
Excellent breakfast
- 4/5
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended great restaurants, were quick with helping me when I had a issue with the TV. The room was clean and spacious!
- 5/5
Great. Would stay again and book through my Hilton Honors next time!
- 4/5
Hotel is in an old building but it well kept. Staff on hand 24 hours a day to assist with anything you need and they respond within minutes. Parking garage is extra but really convenient. Great location for just about everything. The only downside for our visit was a huge tour bus/trailer was parked in the very tight "parking lot" and they yelled at hotel guests as though we were the ones in their way. Otherwise we recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Great location! Can walk all of downtown Charleston from this hotel
- 4/5
The location was excellent and the staff was very pleasant. Our room had a weird musty odor and the bathroom was in need of a facelift.
- 5/5
We only stayed for one night but loved it, we will definitely be back.
- 5/5
We definitely enjoyed our stay. The staff was exceedingly helpful and courteous.
- 5/5
Note- parking in Charleston is difficult but there is a garage adjacent to hotel for $41/night, even after checking out at 11am we left car all day while we saw sights.
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
Great location. Old building but we like that. Steps off King St and close College of Charleston arena.
- 5/5
Staff were great!
- 5/5
It is located where I wanted to be. All the staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Great place to stay, convenient location, loved the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful
- 5/5
The customer service was excellent. The rooms were cleaned quickly and the breakfast was abundant. Great stay.
- 1/5
Moldy. Lazy housekeeper and no working phone. Noisey with kids running over your head. I was asked if I reported the noise to staff, but nothing was done.
- 4/5
Let me first say that we always love staying at Hampton Inns when we travel for several reasons. They are usually affordable and the free breakfast is a great value. We can always count on it to be clean and comfortable too. This one is no exception and though the building is starting to show its age, it’s nothing a little remodeling couldn’t fix! I’d also like to add that the staff here are very welcoming and friendly and the management was quick to address our needs. Also, the location was so convenient. Close to great shopping and restaurants as well as the museum across the street where there is a replica of the H L Hunley outside. The free shuttle stops right outside the hotel too, which we used to get to the other side of town to visit the Market and Poogans Porch. We could have walked 20 minutes, but this was very nice! We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Charleston!
- 3/5
We stayed here one night while passing through Charleston. Location was perfect for exploring the city, walkable to restaurants, shops, and waterfront area. Family enjoyed the included breakfast. Air conditioning in room was not functioning properly, huge difference in temperature between hallways and room. No matter what we set the thermostat, it wouldn’t cool. Made for a miserable night’s sleep. Be aware this is a pet friendly hotel. I think because the room was so warm it made the dog smell in our room worse, we even considered going to a local store for air freshener. Overall OK spot for one night, couldn’t have stayed any more though.
- 4/5
Great location to shops and restaurants and right on the free bus routes. Hotel rooms is comfortable, courtyard area is nice. Best part was the bed. Wish they put fridges in the room
- 5/5
Nice staff, convenient to historic area.
- 3/5
Parking is expensive-41$ per day. The fridge in our room was right next to the door and only opened half way. The pool was really chlorinated so you could not really swim and open your eyes. Not enough lounge chairs.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel and location. Great for families! Breakfast was good, staff were great, and the location is surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and multiple activities!
- 4/5
The only problem is GPS takes you to the wrong parking lot. Takes you to another hotels lot. Not able to find the parking garage until you actually go I. And register so the staff can give you directions.
- 5/5
Thank you
- 5/5
The location is very central to all that Charleston has to offer! The staff was very courteous and the grounds are well cared for.
- 5/5
It was an amazing stay! Staff was helpful and very nice! Rooms, lobby and pool were very clean
- 4/5
The hotel room was placed right beside the fitness room which caused some noises
- 4/5
This hotel’s location is perfect and close to shopping , food and entertainment. The hotel staff were super friendly. The only thing I would have liked is for them to give us an extra roll of toilet paper as we were traveling with several ladies and had to ask the front desk fore more toilet paper two times throughout our stay. The hotel is old and could use some updating and the carpet in our room was grungy. The location definitely made up for that though and it seems to be the most affordable hotel in the area. The pool was very nice and my kids loved it. Breakfast was underwhelming but we have dietary needs so offerings were sparse for us.
- 3/5
I think this place is overpriced for what you get. Our room was ok, the bed clean but carpet very old and stained. Bathroom grout quite gross, stained wall paper . I’ll probably look elsewhere next time
- 5/5
Nice place and would stay here again
- 5/5
Location. Staff super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
This was our second time staying here and definitely highly recommend it to anyone visiting Historic Charleston. Perfect location to walk all around. Hotel staff was exceptional and very welcoming. Making our family weekend fantastic!
- 5/5
In the historic Charleston area. Convenient to all of the sights with many of the antebellum buildings holding their wonderful places in history. Hotel staff excellent. Only continuing problems was with the parking garage which is adjacent to the hotel but not under their charge.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Matt at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.
