What a cool, quirky spot the Dwell Hotel is! I loved the midcentury decor, which they committed to throughout the property. The location is convenient--a quick walk from great restaurants and coffee shops. The amenities were unusual (like the hotel itself)-including a sound machine! I loved that while this was a Marriott property, it was far from a chain--with distinctive rooms to select from. I appreciated the listing of local faves the hotel offered too (much more interesting than the coffee shop front desk folks suggested: Starbucks!). While the view wasn't particularly appealing, having my own balcony area was a treat!

We will certainly be back.

It’s a beautiful old building that has been converted into rooms. The girl at the desk was very nice. Our room was called “The Orient”. Not much to it, so don’t expect a lot. The bed was not very comfortable. Be prepared to get ice from the bar because there isn’t an ice machine. We may try it again if we can get a better room.

The midcentury modern decor of this boutique property is delightful and unique. The room was spacious and clean along with being well stocked. The bartender was very helpful in learning about the area and good company when the area was empty.

Stay was amazing, definite recommend for anyone to visit. This hotel has so much history and I want to stay in every room when we visit. I am looking forward to stay here again.

Beautifully renovated hotel filled with one of a kind mid-century furnishings! Classic & well amenitized. Very accommodating staff. Would highly recommend.

The tub in our room was dirty upon arrival. The shower wasn’t really clean either. Our toilet could barely flush correctly. We deep cleaned everything before we even settled in.
- 3.5/5
Funky Bohemian decor with a gorgeous bar and a great location Rooms could use a good cleaning. Sheets had holes in them and did not fit the mattress. Towels were frayed and scratchy Mattress was old and sagging. The nights we stayed air conditioning was not working so it was quite hot and uncomfortable with no apology coming from the hotel

The Dwell is quaint and full of character at the same time. Staff members were top notch in every way. Drink menu downstairs was solid and bartenders were superb. Will visit again and this will be where I stay again.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Centrally located in downtown Chattanooga. The breakfast didn’t have very many options and there were no plant based milk options.

The location. The inside. The staff. Everything was awesome!

A beautifully decorated room in a unique and charming historic hotel right downtown.

The too was great. The staff were professional and friendly. We very much enjoyed this quirky, deco era boutique hotel. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the bathroom was updated enough to be comfortable. I’ll happily come back to this homey place. The young woman who checked us in, the 3rd shift guy who said he was weird and even the maid, they were all great! Thanks for making us feel so comfortable.
- 2/5
We loved the hotel and the location but had a bad experience overall because we were double charged for the room and not offered any help when I called the property to resolve the problem. I paid on Hotels.com when I booked the room but the hotel charged the card that they had on file for the “incidentals” hold after we checked out. At check in the employee even acknowledged that the room had already been paid for and assured me that the card would not be charged and it was only in case of incidentals. When I called the hotel to resolve this issue I was told that they did not charge my card but they 100% did. I’ve now had to file a claim with my credit card company which is a huge pain! I really hate this because we had already planned to stay at Dwell again on our next trip to town. Hoping this gets resolved ASAP.

There weren't drawers or shelves for clothes, which I thought was weird, and the TV was high up and far from the bed. Also, we were upgraded to a suite (thank you!) but it was just one room, albeit generously sized, with no sitting area. It did have a separate tub, though, so maybe their "suite" level is just nicer amenities and a bigger room? Breakfast was basic but nice: just Chobani yogurts , granola or cereal, and little scones. I really loved the onsite bar, it's a dimly lit, romantic space with a good happy hour. Parking was the one downside. You pay $24 for valet parking in a lot that's supposedly surveilled by cameras. But on the weekends, we were told they move the cars to a closer lot, which didn't seem all that secure - no cameras that we could see. What's more, we learned this closer lot is actually free on the weekends so we could have parked there without having to pay the $24 daily fee. Finally, even though we were paying for valet, when we asked for our car on Sunday the lady behind the counter just handed us the keys, forcing us to go get the car ourselves. Aside from the parking, we had a great stay!
- 4/5
The room was clean and big. Great decor. Loved the tub and fireplace. The bar was really good and staff were very nice. Didnt love the paper thin walls. We could hear people coming and going all day and night. We were next to the stairs in the Palm Springs room and sometimes it sounded like people were knocking on or trying to get in the door. Parking was great though. We will be back with a different room.

Fun vibe, super low key friendly staff, convenient location. Bathtub in the Pink Lady suite is terrific and so squeaky clean I didn't hesitate to take advantage of it.

This was a beautiful hotel everyone went above and beyond. Rooms are gorgeous and I loved the tub. Mark at front desk knows the history of hotel and is a pleasure to talk with and the bar was great .

Friendly service. Beautiful historic feeling rooms.
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay in Chattanooga. Next time we come, we’re definitely staying here again. The parking situation is a little confusing and it looks like valet is your only option, but it’s not terrible and the guys up front are super nice.
- 5/5
Fantastic staff super friendly. The room was awesome. The artistic style of the hotel was dope. My girlfriend absolutely loved it
- 5/5
We absolutely loved the Dwell Hotel! It has so much character and our room was large with a huge bathtub, sitting area and balcony. The hotel has plenty of quaint sitting areas and 2 lounges and a fun bar. The bar was closed on Tuesday when we arrived, so the front desk staff provided free wine and beer which we enjoyed in the lounge while playing a game. There were lots of great restaurants and a whiskey tour walking distance away. We also enjoyed white water rafting and hikes to waterfalls with refreshing swimming holes. All in all 5 star experience with the hotel and the area.

Loved the decor and also the spaciousness of my room. The bathroom was well outfitted and overall very comfortable. They really need to put carpet down on the hallways because the noise level from outside the room is very high unnecessarily. Those old wood floors are nice, but they magnify the sound of anyone walking or pulling suitcases. Obviously they know it’s a problem because they supply you with earplugs which I’ve never seen before at any other hotel. Also, the breakfast was underwhelming. More like a motel breakfast.

This was a really cool hotel. We stayed here on Valentine’s Day because we went to a show in the Walker theater and it was close by. I love the retro design. We had the tiki suite and it had a sitting area with a fireplace and it was so nice to sit by the fire after we’d been out walking in the cold. If you’re looking for something with a cool vibe and a lot of character, give this place a look.

It was super adorable, clean, comfortable, the staff was excellent and helpful, and everything was perfect. The decorations in every room being unique makes me want to stay and keep track of each time I stay and mark them off a list, trying to stay in them all! The mid century modern designs are to notch, who ever did the decorations were on point. That I had to leave at the end of my vacation. But I'll be back!

Lovely quaint hotel. Staff superb. Stayed with my husband for a regatta downtown Chattanooga and absolutely loved it. Able to walk to nearby dining options for dinner - many options. Also shopping nearby. Will absolutely choose to stay here again!
- 4.5/5
Location - walked to dinner, and lots of homeless people. Also the sound outside was very loud, and since it's an old hotel we could hear it falling asleep.
- 5/5
From the moment I got to The Dwell, I was in love. A bellman took my bags to my room whilst telling me the history of the hotel. I was just obsessed with the entire experience. I will be back!
- 5/5
Outstanding staff 24 hrs, nice tub, separate closets for toilet and shower, quiet, luxurious bed, wood floors everywhere, 5 star hotel all around. I wish there more Design Hotels worldwide, I'd stay nowhere else.
- 4.5/5
Breakfast was good Our room on the third floor , maybe 317, it was in a corner. Area at door was lower. I said this is an accident waiting to happen. During the night my husband fell down that step. It should be painted a different color or taped to reveal a drpression. We are seniors. I fear someone else might get hurt.
- 5/5
Love this hotel. It was our first stay for our wedding. The best personal customer service I have ever received at a hotel. It is intimate in size, the bar is stylish and tasty, and the beds were very comfortable. Even though it is valet parking only, each valet was more than accomodating, careful with our vehicles, and quick. This will be our go-to hotel any time we stay in Chattanooga.

Unique boutique hotel with a funky bar
- 5/5
Great!
- 4.5/5
The hotel is well located in the city. It attracted me because of the quirky and unique design. I’m often in chain hotels which are intentionally very predictable. This is in a completely different league. It’s half museum-half hotel in so far as all the decor is unique. Every room has a different theme. All the public areas have a different theme. It’s quite whimsical and busy. Every nook has a different curio so you can’t assume anything in the visual palate. It was a bit of a treat to experience and the price was mid range for the area. It was all as expected.
- 3.5/5
I thought the design of the hotel was very cool and we loved our cocktails at Matilda’s bar. I also enjoyed the fact that you could use the pool and gym at the common house. I didn’t love that Check-in was a bit late at 4 PM. I also thought the breakfast was pretty lame considering how expensive the hotel room was. It would’ve been nice to have hard-boiled eggs and some sort of toast with nice butter and jam. There is definitely room for improvement for breakfast and a bottle of water in the room (Complementary) would’ve also been a nice touch.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Great hotel. Homeless around the area at night
- 4.5/5
Unique! There were so many hidden gems within the property. The Bar, The Lounge, The covered Patio that made you feel like you were sitting in a quaint cafe in Paris and the complimentary board games! The staff at The Dwell are EXCELLENT…Harrison and Mark are the absolute best! Breakfast could be a a bit more enhanced but with so many restaurants 5 minutes from the hotel who cares! Lol
- 5/5
A fabulously decorated hotel with mid-century style. Every room is unique. The lobby bar is also a nice perk. Great spot for couples.
- 5/5
A nostalgic reminder of what hotels once were. Not just a place to stay but an adventure. Our suite had a fireplace. You don’t see that very often. Within walking distance of some great restaurants.
- 5/5
We truly enjoyed staying at this little piece of history in Chattanooga. The hotel sports a classy and fun style. The room was cozy and comfortable. They offered an upgrade to my original room selection but allowed me to change rooms when I wasn’t happy with the upgrade provided. All of the staff (housekeeping to management) were so very kind, and helpful.
- 5/5
This was a anniversary night away. When I booked with Dwell I asked if a bottle of champagne can be in rm before we arrived. Unfortunately room service is not available. When we arrived there was a bottle on ice waiting for us with a card saying happy anniversary! That was so sweet and really made a great 1st impression. I love the art deco decor. The rm was impeccable. Customer service was excellent! We will definitely stay again. No complaints
- 2.5/5
The mattress needs to be replaced lumpy and too soft not supportive enough. The continental breakfast consisted of (1) type of scone, (1) type of yogurt, granola for cereal, (1) type of juice.
- 5/5
We loved the vintage feel of the hotel as well as the friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Cool hotel with great friendly people
- 5/5
Very limited unpaid parking.
- 5/5
This was our first stay at the Dwell and we were a little anxious about our reservations. We were thrilled with everything the Dwell had to offer. We will definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
Loved the funky decor and the generous room size.
- 5/5
As a fan of the show 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I couldn't help but imagine her staying here! It really feels like a nostalgic time capsule of the 50s/60s and it's done in such an artful and stylish way. The room was very spacious, clean, cute, extremely comfortable bed (from someone with back issues who needs a comfortable bed), and I just love that each room is a different theme. The building was built in 1909, so it has that old building feel, which is something I really loved about it. Purchased a really cute T-shirt as a souvenir on checkout and plan to return again soon!
- 5/5
A wonderfully styled property with its unique design. Blended well with the classic hotel feel. Staff was fantastic, helpful, and friendly.
- 5/5
The people are awesome- from the valet guys to Carol and Ben in the front to Monica in the bar. The bedding and sheets were top notch. And for the record, the bar is about as comfortable and swanky as bars get- it’s perfect. I would HIGHLY suggest this place. Lastly, it’s got 16 rooms and would be perfect for a wedding party etc.
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel with spacious rooms and amazing design elements throughout with lots of fun, kitschy character.
- 4/5
It’s not clear how to get past your Virtual Assistant and it doesn’t handle this situation. Once I did get a human on the chat (after had to Google to get to a human), she was able to provide confirmation number. But it took us an hour to get this resolved, which meant no dinner before the concert we were there fo. This is twice in the last 6 months this has happened to me.
- 5/5
Fantastic character hotel. Staff was very accomodation. Free EV chargers half block away in EPB parkade was a bonus
- 5/5
It’s really nice hotel and close to downtown
- 5/5
We will definitely stay again when in Chattanooga.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were even better.
- 5/5
My stay at the Dwell property was amazing. The staff, the decor, the southern hospitality, and the ambience made it worth the stay. I really appreciate how they were very helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
The check-in was quickly and efficiently executed. The front desk staff was nice and very polite. Our car was parked for us. We were given our room key while our bags were brought to our room. The room (flamingo themed) is extremely clean and beautiful. The bathroom is equipped with a tub as well as a rainfall shower. They have everything you need and will also accommodate if needed.
- 5/5

The street we felt was a little suspect when we came back in late at night, but besides that we had a wonderful stay!

Lovely boutique style property, great staff Harrison was wonderful ? Not applicable as we had a great stay
- 5/5
Greeted by friendly and professional staff.
- 5/5
I love the style, ambiance, and staff at the Dwell. I stayed in the Asian styled room, and it was fun. The bathtub is AMAZING! It is a must. It is a boutique hotel and more expensive than the regular hotel however it is beautiful. Every detail is thought of, including the bar and the breakfast in the morning. Put this hotel on your list for special occasions or a self-care weekend. Also the hotel manager is now one of my ? people. He loves the hospitality industry and guests. This hotel is fantastic.
- 4/5
We loved the overall atmosphere at the hotel. The original wooden floors and banisters, along with the antiques and retro decor made if feel like we were stepping back in time. Our only disappointment was the balcony in our room. We assumed all balconies had a view, and while some do have a view of the city, the Dandelion room has a balcony with a screen above the railing to obstruct the unattractive view of the roof next door. We should have inquired about this more directly, but we will know for next time.
- 4/5
Quick overnight stay in this well designed space. Rooms were spacious and bed was comfy. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

The dwell hotel was a very unique place to stay, very close to everything in the city. The staff that works here is incredible!! Made the experience well worth our visit!
- 5/5
I stay here when ever rates are down. This place is amazing. Staff makes others A game look subpar. Convient to many places.
- 4.5/5
Personalized greeting was super, super friendly and the hotel helped me out with a temperature issue in my room. No complaints whatsoever.
- 3/5
We were looking forward to staying at the Dwell, it was recommended in one of the articles in Southern Living. When we arrived we were greeted by a super friendly staff. We were shown to our room and that is when the excitement vanished. We wanted to take a nap before heading out, threw our bed sheets back and there was hair all over the sheet and pillows as if it was never changed from previous stay. The staff offered us a choice to have bedding changed or get a new room. We chose a new room. It wasn’t immediate but 20 min we got the new room. Room was clean. Beds and sheets are comfortable and good quality. Our room balcony faced Columbia St. Well needless to say it’s a home to a huge section 8 housing and some of the tenants love to hang out side all night and all day, with shady characters coming through every 30min, we still made it a pleasant time with some help from the bar in the lobby! The next day we find out that our A/c had stopped working and that we needed to move rooms yet again. The staff were apologetic and even offered us a discount for the ongoing inconvenience. Over all the hotel has really cool character almost like a b&b but it was sad that they didn’t offer a hot breakfast in the morning only few nat infested sconces and yogurt. Location is right downtown so walking distance from really nice restaurants.
- 5/5
Fabulous! The lounge area is a must see. The room was terrific!
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing. The room was decorated and stocked with details anticipating the guests needs. The staff were helpful and attentive.
- 5/5
The staff is amazing, Harrison, Monica, Evelyn, Caleb and Ben did a nice job keeping their patrons happy. The bar opens at 4pm and they have a very fun Happy Hour where I think even the locals show up to the bar. We had some interesting conversations and a fun time hanging out there. The in room concierge was a nice perk and it was great to have the ability to call down to the front desk for things we needed, for example: Ice, more towels, etc. I would definitely recommend staying here and worth the money to get a room with the balcony. Every room had something that would look amazing on Social Media. The great staff and the clean room and amenities was worth the price tag and getting to see it all in person. Unrelated but I only bring it up because it was next door - I was sad the restaurant was no longer open after Covid, But you only have two block walk to get over to the Warehouse Row which has a couple of restaurants and a little shopping in it. If you come to Chattanooga, Definitely visit the Aquarium when you are in that town, that was definitely noteworthy.
- 5/5
Very nice, quaint, and lovely places. Very well located. Many places short walk or drive.
- 5/5
The retro styling.
- 4/5
The Dwell Hotel is a nice boutique stay in Chattanooga. The decor and rooms are unique but noise seems to carry very well throughout this hotel. However, the bedding was great and staff very friendly but the breakfast was spartan - coffee, juice, granola, and scones. that's it.
- 5/5
Such a beautiful hotel. Super friendly staff, spotless and a short walk to convention center where I was walking. A real gem
- 5/5
I cannot speak highly enough of Dwell, the rooms and staff. Everything exceeded all expectations. Had an amazing stay. Will be back as soon as possible
- 5/5
My husband and I enjoyed our weekend away at The Dwell Hotel. Superior attention to detail and customer service were the cherry on top! Delicious drinks from the bar were great while we waited on our Uber for our show at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Auditorium.
- 5/5
Amazing experience. Check in with Harrison was beyond welcoming and so accommodating. The room (Tropicana) was outstanding. Definitely a must-visit in Chattanooga!
- 3/5
As a working mom, I needed a night to myself to relax. I really wanted to stay at Dwell for the decor, location, and comfort. First, let me inform you there are no fridges in the rooms. Which is fine, but if you’re planning to have snacks or dine out and expect to bring home leftovers, this can be an issue. The in room water kettle had used coffee bags inside of it and the area had not been restocked with needed items or cleaned well. They also have a sign on the tray, stating they have water stations, that are impossible to find and weren’t labeled. I searched the landing of each floor trying to find a place I could get water. There was an area with items to purchase that was really dusty. The bed was amazing and the room really cozy and cool with a fire place, soaking tub, and balcony. The stopper ended up getting jammed on the sink, which was fine because I was able to just reach under and adjust it. The next morning when I was leaving, of course they ask you how your stay was, and when I attempted to explain my issues to the gentleman at the desk, he seemed very annoyed and uninterested. Cool, thanks. Then he informed me that the valet wasn’t on duty, so the money I paid for valet was a waste, because I was given my keys and told to walk down and alleyway between some buildings to get to the lot my car was parked in… with my bags. Overall, for the price of the room, the service wasn’t there and was disappointing.
- 4/5
The only sad part was “the bar wii not be open tonight”
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Love the Mid Century Modern decor of this hotel. It’s legit. Actually furniture from this era except, of course, the beds are new! Awesome staff. Hotels.com didn’t send over my reservation and the Dwell staff expertly took care of us. Even gave us a glass of wine while we waited to get it taken care of. Great location and good on-site breakfast restaurant.

One night stay-cation for our anniversary, first visit to property in at least 10 years.
- 5/5
Very nice and friendly place
- 5/5
Loved how unique the hotel was. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
This is the most beautiful, artistic, sensory, lovely hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. Every detail is laid out beautifully, the building is exquisite, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the attached restaurant has equally impressive taste and quality.
- 5/5
So glad I chose to stay at The Dwell!
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
We absolutely love staying at the Dwell! The staff here are so incredibly helpful and kind, I love that we can do valet parking safely, it’s in a perfect part of town, and the entire vibe of this place is just phenomenal! 10/10 stars all around
- 5/5
Overall was a wonderful weekend! The hotel is breathtaking. The staff is so helpful and kind. They greeted us with beverages and escorted us to our room with an explanation of the hotels history. Accomodating to our needs all weekend. Would highly recommend staying, I know we will again!
- 5/5
Amazing boutique hotel! Everything about it was above and beyond what would be expected!
- 4/5
If the Dwell were placed in another area it would be amazing. The hotel, the staff were great …. it’s just that part of Chattanooga feels somewhat unsafe now.
- 5/5
This hotel is so charming, clean, funky, and lovely! The minute we walked in, we were in love. The room is big and plenty of room to move around. The fireplace was was wonderful touch, we really enjoyed relaxing by it with a drink. The staff was wonderful-every single person we came into contact with. The tiki bar was great, a really fun vibe and decorated just as nice as the rest of the hotel. Syrup and eggs was also delicious, but extremely crowded(make reservations). But that only says to me that they are good. The ONLY thing I wish they had was a small fridge. Luckily we were able to leave things on the balcony bc it was cold out. If you haven’t been to this place-it’s a must! Oh, and the Mattress and pillows were incredible-better than what we have at home!
- 5/5
We loved how everything was conveniently at the bottom floor and so we did not have to go far. The staff is so friendly and made the stay even better.
- 4/5
Hotel was really xool. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and nice. Only wish the fireplace had worked.
- 4/5
The staff was awesome!
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! There was a lot of construction nearby that resulted in early morning noise. The hotel provided ear plugs and a sound machine so they are doing everything to mitigate the noise. Everyone who we came into contact with was amazing! They truly thought of everything. Would "hands-down" stay again.
- 5/5
Super unique. Incredible staff. Funky bar and great breakfast.

Great Boutique Hotel. Awesome brunch spot! Eclectic feel with lots of surprises. Knowledgeable staff that helped us plan our nights. Easy to talk to and always available. I was in love with the cloud like bedding. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
The Dwell House is by far our most favorite hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The decor and uniqueness was amazing but more impressive was what a personal experience the staff made it. We highly recommend staying here and we’ll definitely be back.

It was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it.

Very old property. Floors uneven and slanted. Bathroom doors have a hook to latch because the hardware doesn’t function. There was a step down in front of the door that my husband fell down, when backing up from a desk area. No open evening food service, but breakfast was good.

The service was great, rooms were super retro and had a good vibe

This hotel is a visual treat as soon as you step through the door. Pleasant and helpful staff. Felt like we were staying with friends instead of hotel. It was perfect for a romantic night away. Dining within walking distance. I highly recommend unless you are a light sleeper. You can hear sounds from the street and guest talking and walking through.

There isn't an emoticon listed in the review that can explain how amazing this hotel is. The decor is amazing. The hotel staff are amazing. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is some street/car noise, but you get that in most downtown cities. I turned on the fan in the bathroom and it masked everything. I can't wait to go back!! If you are on the fence about booking a room here, climb down and book it before it's sold out. You won't regret it!!
