Check-in was simple enough. The AC was too noisy to use. The toilet didn't flush properly. The shower dripped all night long. The mattress was like a rock. There was no pod-tray in the coffee machine, so it was unusable. The fridge door was broken. The TV reception was appalling. There was no water in the vending machines. Only one elevator worked, at one point it was so busy it took almost half an hour just to get out of the building, it was only meant for 6 people but there were 9 people crammed into it, which is not safe. There was coffee in the lobby but it was cold and there was no decaf option. The only food on the premises are a massively expensive French bakery, which is edible at least, and a Chinese restaurant, but the food wasn't good there. No breakfast. Valet parking is over $50 per night, All in all we paid over $1000 for two nights in this dump. The facilities at the Motel 6 in Elk Grove are vastly superior and it's only a fifth of the price, even on a bad day. The time you save by staying in the city center is wasted just trying to get in and out of the building with the busted elevators. Don't stay here unless you hate yourself.

Staff were super helpful from beginning to end. Everything was very clean in the room, and anything needed was just a phone call away. My only complaint is that there was not a safe in the room for valuables. Hotel is also in a perfect location to do downtown tourist attractions.

The room and sofa sleeper were tired and worn. It took several calls to get extra pillows. Ice maker was down during the entire time we stayed. They were gracious enough to hold our luggage the last day for us to pick up on our way back to the train station. It was a good location.

There were plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful Grant park is literally across the street. Short walk to the museum campus where you find Alder Planetarium, Shed Aquarium and the Field Museum. There’s also a Metra stop there. We noticed a cracked tile in the shower, where the curtain rod attached to the wall, so the curved rod hung down rather than curving out for more space. The bathroom is small. The beds and pillows aren’t very comfortable but are covered and free of bugs. The area around the in wall air conditioner is nasty looking and the bed is up against there so try not to look at it. Otherwise the room was clean. The entire building, once you are past the lobby, smells like stale cigarettes or an old bowling alley. We were pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge in our room. Yay! There is one small microwave in the lobby for guests to share rather than one per room. So odd. To recap, this Best Western does the job if you need a cheaper room for a night or two.

Location of hotel was great, right across the street from Grant Park and was easily located. Value was fairly priced compared to surrounding hotels offered in the same area, you get what you pay for essentially. Went to 3 different ice machines on 3 different floors and none of them had ice available to use. There was also lack of ventilation available in the bathroom so it could get stuffy easily. TV was also a little small for viewing, but not the end of the world.

This was a last minute add on to a business event in the city. The reviews made us think it would be nicer than any best western but no. The property is in poor outdated condition and while the room looked better than expected, I have never woken up so sore. The pillows offered zero support and the pain kept me up all night. Though I will say the room was clean. If you just need a bed, do it. The staff was fabulous!

We were expecting to park on-site since we had a room reserved but the reservation didn't seem to matter. We ended up have to park 2 blocks away. That isn't very far but when you are expecting something it throws you off. Bathroom was quite small. The door was inches away from hitting the toilet. There are several bus stops really close & a train stop close too! Which was nice! The bakery adjacent to the hotel lobby was fantastic with a ton of options and you get 10% off by showing your room key! The air conditioning worked quite well. Elevator was compact. Only 2 elevators were in service which meant a bit of waiting when there were lots of people wanting on. Bed was way to squishy. Some people may like a softer bed. I do not.

I have stayed here multiple times, and will continue to come. Staff is always very nice and helpful with questions. I did notice two spots on the ceiling that were peeling and some spots that look like they were about to. When we first arrived, the toilet sounded like it wouldn’t stop filling, but once we got it to flush, it was fine for the remainder of our stay. The room was very clean and well maintained. The air conditioning is amazing, you can choose the temperature, level, and consistency. The hotel also gives you 10% off at the bakery and two restaurants next door. We did not eat at the restaurants but the bakery is amazing.

Im not sure why there are so many negative comments/reviews. This hotel was decently priced, perfect for families and conveniently located. You had Shedd aquarium, Field museum, Grant park and Millennium park is a quick 15 min walk. The hotel is a little outdated as far as decor but its literally fine lol. Staff was friendly helpful attentive, room was clean even tho its a lil outdated. Theres a bakery attached, paris bauguette bakery. Delicious snack options. Overall we are delighted with our experience

Convenient location, staff was great, but the hotel itself needs some help. Furniture all dinged up, we had a spot on the floor that always felt damp, paint chipping, beds aren’t that comfortable. The windows shook with the wind and the trains, just old looking. No on sight food, a cafe next to them offers 10% off but it’s a bakery cafe not a full on restaurant. $500 for that room was wild!

There was a big, splintery chip in the door where it looks like a security chain was removed, and the bathroom counter had clearly seen better days, but the place was VERY well cleaned, housekeeping was impeccable. I loved how it was near everything , no car needed , and how convenient in the same hotel you can get snacks and drinks 24 hours. If your from New York you know we are used to having bodegas open 24 hours so not even having to step out of the hotel to get your snacks and drinks 10 out of 10 and soo safe and secure. The staff were soo loving and helpful. The only thing is when you shower , water will be on the floor so we put 1 towel to step on and not fall but nothing bad. Also other hotels only give until 10AM for checkout and this one gives you till noon 😍

Rooms weren't the best maintained though. We had two rooms. In one the A/C barely could keep the room cool despite it being late March. The drain on the tub came loose (clearly having been glued in place a couple of times). There was a remnant of a splatter on the wall above the bathroom garbage that looked like it had been there for some time. The other room had a sticky spot on the carpet that seemed like it was some kind of gummy substance. The tub on that room didn't drain well. Soap dispenser in the shower was empty when we got the rooms. Front desk sent someone up right away, they filled it - but then the shanpoo ran out on the 2nd day (it apparently was nearly empty and wasn'tfilled either). Location is very convenient to the museums. Breakfast at the adjoining Paris Baguette was convenient, and the 10% off as a hotel guest was nice to have.

The lobby, halls, and room were all very clean. There was an odd ledge to the bathroom we covered with a towel to avoid any trips. If they sanded this down or just made an actual step, it would have been better. Loved the location of the hotel.Walkable to anything by Grant Park. Easy to get to from Midway. Only major downside are the walls are thin. Getting ready in the morning, I can hear the person in the bathroom next to me singing in the shower. One of the nights two doors down, the guests were being pretty boastful and we could hear their entire conversations. My room did face the street/park so on a Saturday night, it was lovely. I personally did not mind the street noise, just didn't care to listen to my neighbors conversation at 930PM. Overall, the location, friendly staff, and price, I'd still recommend. 8 out of 10!

Rude staff (especially at night). Whoever was there for checkout was also rude. Broken shower curtain pole and shower didn’t drain. Vending machines for drinks don’t work (everything is sold out) on every floor. Pillows are uncomfortable. Poor noise insulation. Also, the entrance to the hotel had homeless people and others who made it feel unsafe, especially at night.

there was an altercation in the room next-door to us late Saturday night. Someone kept getting slammed up against our commondoor. There was shouting and cursing, and I could hear one guy say "I'm not going back to jail". The staff on duty and I both called the police. The group cleared out of the room after the staff. Member knocked and asked them to keep it down. Probably they were worried about getting arrested so they left voluntarily.

Typical best western, staff was friendly, the shower was fully open and soaked the bathroom every shower. Then it wouldn’t shut off fully so if you left it up it would flood the whole floor so had to put it down. Also the frost desk said to take picture of valet ticket just in case you lose ticket but when you go to get truck from guy he wanted the physical ticket (which we threw away because she said we could use picture).

Staff was very friendly but the room was not good. It was older which isn’t normally an issue but combined with the lack of cleanliness, it was not a place I’d stay at again. All the standard bottles - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap - were totally empty. Our shower was filled with black hair upon arrival, and it did not drain. The AC/fan didn’t work well, and made a weird, frustrating sound all night.

The room was terrible, my first day there I had no room because they didn’t have a replacement room available, the second room they gave me was molded, the third room they gave me was better but the wallpaper was wet the pictures were crooked and the room had a smell. All through the hallways and elevator it smelled like weed and the hallways smelled old. I was not compensated for having to wait until someone checked out to get a new room. They did give me meal tickets (that we did not use). Overall, this is not my first time staying here but it was by far the worst time and worst experience. I am completely dissatisfied with this 5 night stay.

A few things to note is that light can shine under the door (I blocked it with the provided ironing board), the room was small (that was not a problem for me, I was only there to sleep), and of course there was some city noise. I would also recommend using a parking app to buy nearby parking ahead of time. That simple and quick step will save you from any potential parking related headaches. To end on some compliments, the hotel is in a great spot in the city with plenty to do nearby. The staff were quite friendly during my brief interactions with them, the room was well maintained, and the view was pretty nice from the 7th floor room I had. :)

We were supposed to Valet our car on Sunday after getting permission from the manager at check-in noting that we would be valet in a car and we were unable to because it was full. So we had to go and search for parking. Staff just seemed very unorganized at the front desk. The hotel appears very outdated, which was disappointing given the positive reviews. The beds were old and uncomfortable, with a mattress topper added in an attempt to improve comfort. The pillows were also worn and in need of replacement. Noise was a significant issue, as the rooms were not soundproof and inside and outside noise could be heard at all hours. Additionally, there were several individuals loitering in the hotel entrance hallway, which was concerning. Even though they did keep to themselves. There was also a noticeable smell of marijuana in our hotel hallway, which housekeeping attempted to address. On a positive note, the location was convenient and close to restaurants and museums. We felt safe walking in the area, even during the evening, and did not experience any safety issues outside of the hotel.

This stay was especially impacted by extremely poor WiFi performance. Over a five-day business trip, download speeds averaged no more than 5 Mbps, making it impossible to complete any serious work. When raised with the front desk, the issue was dismissed because “no one else has said anything,” and no effort was made to investigate or resolve it. Unfortunately, I’ll likely begin looking for another hotel for my annual stay.

When arrived. Toilet needed fixing, shower knob was loose so it was hard to get a good temperature of water because the knob wouldn’t stay in place. Fridge knob was broken to turn the temp up in the fridge. Pillows were horrible like I didn't have anything. I had asked for a lake view, paid for it, and I couldn’t see it. Definitely can hear everything in the hotel room. Staff could be more social.

Staff was very professional, kind, and knowledgable. The room was clean. The facility it was well clean. The shops were just on the first floor of the hotel. I do recommend to provide a pen and maybe something for the customer to write on. For example, a small notepad. Many people who visit this area may need that small accommodation for work. The computer chair squeaks in the room squeaks. It needs some polyurethane grease. I can hear the noise from outside on the 6th floor.

This hotel is definitely in need of a refresh. It is a great location and less expensive than others nearby so you get what you pay for in this case. We had a nice stay. The room was clean and the lobby staff was very friendly. I would have rated it higher, but we had an issue with valet parking. Our truck was parked right outside the front desk area in clear view. It is of a stock height with no suspension lift. We paid for valet parking when we checked in, giving the make and model of our vehicle. There were no issues. Thirty minutes later, the front desk called us to inform us that the truck could not be accommodated. The valet fee was refunded but we had to park a block away. We chose this hotel because there were no valet parking restrictions noted. Apparently there needs to be and update of the hotel listing...

Room was old and dated. Mattress probably hasn’t been replaced in 30 years, feels like you’re sleeping directly on coils. Check-in staff was underwhelming. Not very enthusiastic like most hotels when you check into them. Bedding was clean and acceptable. Not much to say, as someone who travels a lot Chicago is a hard city to stay within company budget for hotel room, so unfortunately, some cities you just can’t win in especially in Chicago, where the fees and taxes are so high!

Overall it’s great. Have an issue with their mandatory valet parking though. There isn’t enough room to park & check-in. We had to park half the car in a no-parking area. Front desk told us they would move it ASAP so we didn’t get a ticket; However, when they returned our car to us, we received a $70 parking ticket on the windshield. Front desk basically told us, “Sorry about your luck.” There is a self-park parking garage a couple blocks away for $70… I would recommend using that instead of the $60 valet parking at the hotel.

In terms of the quality of the hotel, it's ok. It's an aging facility with super small elevators. Like many hotels of similar age, it smells old and it shows its age. But the staff keeps the place looking clean and they are responsive to customer needs and requests. Speaking of staff, I had very limited interactions with them but they were friendly and professional when I did interact with them. I'm torn about whether I'd stay there again. This place is close to Soldier Field, the Field Museum, Shed Aquarium and the Planetarium. Given the food options and nearby grocery, it's tough to beat for those looking to visit those attractions. And, the price is very reasonable. But, for those who like newer, modern facilities, you should look elsewhere for your stay.

We were able to check our luggage on day of checkout until we were actually leaving for home. Cons: Had to slam the door in order for it to close tight enough to lock. Parking is non-existent, except via Valet, which was ridiculously expensive. However, they did provide in/out service, plus we could leave our car til 4:00 pm on day of check out.

I got there and space for maybe 5 vehicles to park on side of road in order to check in. There was suppose to be vallet parking, I got there 30 minutes after check in time and their parking garage was already full and no more vallet. They had pictures and addresses for 3 garages close to the hotel for me to try to use at MY own expense. For over $200 for one night, the mini fridge was so tiny it was hard to fit anything at all in it. You had to really shut the door and make sure that you heard it click, otherwise you could just push it open. The staff was friendly and the deposit was only $75. She told me which you get back right away after checkout. I said cool, so you dont have to wait for it, it will go back on my card at checkout tomorrow? She said yes, its over 31 hours after checkout and I have still not seen it in my account. If you use this hotel for the location, its walkable to soldier field and plenty to eat and do around. Just make sure if you have a car, you check out garages close. The 1 I used would have only cost 32 dollars for 24 hours, but thats only if there is no event going on that night. It was over $75 with spot hero and it was hard to find where to get back into the garage, many people same problem.

I had a great stay at the Best Western Grant Park Hotel. The best part about this hotel is definitely the location. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, and both the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium are within a short walking distance. Hotel was fine. Good location for sure. I pulled up to valet behind a line of cars and a hotel worker told me to jump out and go find the valet and that he would watch my car. So I listened and the valet guy didn’t seem too happy. I said I would move it but he insisted I could just check in and give him the keys so I did. The next day the valet guy brought my car back to me and when he handed me the keys said “You’re the guy that parked back there right?” I said yes and then he walked past me and didn’t say anything else. I was really confused because it came off passive aggressive and very sudden. While getting ready to leave I looked into the hotel and he was creepily staring while standing in the window. Weird. Then as I pulled out and I looked one more time, he was still intensely staring at me while I drove off. Got home a few hours later and noticed a small scrape on my door that I’m pretty sure wasn’t there before. No proof that he did that but the way he acted when he gave me my car back made me feel like something was up and was really uncomfortable. It appeared to be fresh and I had never noticed it until after leaving the hotel.

Which was an unpleasant discovery after coming home from a concert and being sweaty and exhausted. They did switch us to a new room but only had a queen room instead of 2 full beds. Not ideal, but at least we had a shower. The halls are not air conditioned and the elevators are old and shaky. One of the elevators was not working when we left and we ended up just taking the stairs. They definitely need to invest in some of the infrastructure of the hotel.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Location wasn't awful, being across from Grant Park was nice but it was extremely loud and the hotel had a strange odor inside, even in the rooms (to the point where I had to buy air freshener). The hotel clearly hasn't been updated in a while; lots of peeling paint and stained carpet. My room had mold on the ceiling and again, a really unpleasant odor. The fitness center had several machines, but about half of them had "out of order" signs. The stairs to go to the upper floors are hard to access and seem to be reserved for staff; very difficult for customers to find and actually use when the elevator is taking a long time.
