Rays is amazing, so cute and really felt like home. The food was exceptional, the staff was really friendly, and the rooms were cozy. We plan on coming back regularly. The walk from the train station, and the neighborhood around Ray's was really cute, with lots of great coffee, food and other options.

The best breakfast I’ve ever had!!
- 5/5
The breakfast alone was worth the trip! Warm, generous, eclectic, this place goes out of their way to welcome their guests. And they’re PET FRIENDLY.
- 5/5
If all lodging was this good, hotels would go out of businesses.
- 5/5
Really neat eclectic B&B in midtown Chicago. Very friendly and accessible staff, very clean, and quiet. Breakfast is usual fare but preparation and ingredients are excellent. I do wish they had breakfast potatoes as an option on their menu though. Bed is very comfy but room and BR are a little cramped.
- 5/5
Spotless room. Very friendly staff. All kinds of nice extras such as snacks, drinks, etc. Interesting artwork & oddities throughout the b&b. Garage parking tight but a huge plus. Made to order breakfast was excellent. Would definitely return.

Best everrrrr

I enjoyed my night here and the deep soaking jetted tub was just what I needed to relax. Ashley was very kind as was the rest of the staff. I appreciated the secure on site parking which was included. My made to order omelette was delicious for breakfast.
- 5/5
Place was amazing! Unique, great staff, comfy rooms and staff was very accomodating.
- 5/5
quirky and fun, with a delicious breakfast! would definitely stay again
- 5/5
We had the best stay at Rays and will definitely be back! Everything about this place is fantastic, its hard to know where to begin, but the care and love put into their B&B can be felt for real. And had an unbelievably comfy and restful sleep. Woke up feeling refreshed, and had the best made to order breakfast!
- 5/5
Ray’s B&B is triple-A accommodations… Authentic, Amazing, & Artistic. Inviting and helpful staff, delicious food cooked-to-order (don’t skip), & an unending supply of things to look at in a great neighborhood will guarantee you have a great stay!
- 5/5
The COOLEST place to stay. Quiet, has everything you could ever possibly need, and gives you the opportunity to meet new people! Ray has an incredible collection of pretty much everything, so you never get bored of looking around. The staff were all so welcoming, and made us feel taken care of every step of the way. The bed was so comfortable and we had all the space and accommodations we needed! Thank you Ray’s, we hope to see you all again when we’re next in Chicago!
- 5/5
We arrived very late and staff went out of their way to make things smooth and welcome us. The place is perfect. I cannot wait to come stay longer
- 5/5
Ray's is such a fun, quirky place to stay - tons of creativity has gone into making it a unique stay. The breakfast is fabulous, on-site parking is convenient, and there is excellent attention to safety and security. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to visiting again!
- 5/5
Absolutely phenomenal visit!! The place is so cozy. Breakfast is a 1000000/10!! Staff is so nice and made the whole visit so cozy. We will be back.
- 5/5
Is clean. Multiple restaurants and pub nearby. The street has no sweeping schedule. So it is easy to find parking spot. I do have garage reserved but my ford F150 would not fit. So I parked on the street had no issue at all. I love this place. Thanks.

Such a wonderful find - sweet staff, homey setting, beautiful neighborhood close to the 606 walking trail and train. On top of this the most amazing breakfasts we could ask for. A wonderful gem of a place to visit!
- 5/5
Ray's B&B is a hidden gem. It exemplifies service and the highest level of personalized attention to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Even though i stayed for just one night during a business trip, the experience was outstanding. This will be my default option for further trips to Chicago.
- 5/5
I was visiting my son for a much needed vacation, and this was the perfect place to unwind. He has a very homey feel well, still providing all the modern comforts! I loved the sauna and steam room and used them on a couple of mornings to start my day. The breakfasts were wonderful and made to order. They were an amazing number of options, both regular and vegan. I appreciated their generosity with extra snacks and anything you might have needed that you didn’t bring with you like a water bottle and an umbrella. The location was perfect for getting around Bucktown and a walkable distance from the blue line Western stop. A few blocks in either direction you could find great coffee shops and restaurants. I also love the check out was at noon - that extra hour does make a difference!
- 5/5
Absolutely one of the best stays I’ve ever had.
- 5/5
Wonderful new discovery for us. We were in Chicago to visit our son who lives in Wicker Park and discovered this fabulously funky B&B in Bucktown. It will DEFINITELY be our go to place to stay for future visits. Staff so friendly, everything about our stay was great, visiting with fellow guests over breakfast (pancakes or French Toast, which to choose, too hard, have both!) - just altogether wonderful.
- 5/5
Best B and B we've ever stayed in.
- 5/5
Very cute B&B. Staff is super friendly and helpful! Breakfast was always delicious.
- 5/5
Eclectic and charming. We look forward to another visit in the future.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay at Ray's. They made the entire process from start to finish simple and easy. They went above and beyond for us in many ways and we will definitely be back!
- 5/5
My best friend and I had a little weekend getaway this past weekend for a concert and Rays was the perfect place to book! Rays was so well kept and the ladies that run it did an excellent job with welcoming us and making us feel at home. The room we stayed in was spacious for 2 people with an amazing access to the private patio area and it was beautiful and quiet. I would highly recommend Rays to anyone in or out of Chicago!
- 5/5
Always a treat to stay at Ray’s. Funky kitschy decor from bygone years. By far THE BEST breakfast menu!
- 5/5
Ray's Bucktown Bed and Breakfast is widely celebrated for its eclectic and warm atmosphere, making guests feel at home amidst its unique decor. It definitely feels like you're staying with family, along with a vast array of things to do while "at home" with them (you can do laundry, use the steam/sauna, play some board games, read the newspaper, soak up the sun's rays/watch the stars at night on their upper deck, etc.) along with the many amenities that it provides. The warm hospitality that Ashlee & Kat provided was out of this world - and you know that first impressions last! I appreciated every single interaction I had with them, despite being my first time staying at the humble abode - in addition, to just being my second time in Chicago! Having stayed with them definitely changed my perspective on hotels & motels, and I highly recommend Ray's Bucktown B&B to those who need a comfortable, no-frills, & home-y place to stay!
- 5/5
I loved everything about it!!! The staff, for sure!!! The building and all the fun stuff inside! Breakfast! The neighborhood! I could live there!!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great, the staff was kind, and it was a pleasant surprise.
- 5/5
The building is super interesting with all the art work. Breakfast is great!
- 5/5
Great location for Metro into city did not use my car at all for 4 nights Wrigley field walking distance
- 5/5
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Ray’s Bucktown BnB. The staff were fantastic and incredibly helpful and nice. The cook to order breakfast was excellent with generous proportions. We will certainly return in future visits to Chicago. Thank you.
- 5/5
This was superb. Very safe and secure. Much attention to the details which make a stay enjoyable. Fabulous made to order breakfast. I highly recommend Ray's!
- 5/5
I stumbled upon this excellent B &B. The neighborhood was lovely with all the spring blooms.
- 5/5
Very personalized experience.
- 5/5
Amazing property! Cooked to order breakfast, staff off the charts hospitable and friendly. The whole feel of the space is inviting and calm. My room was a cozy little respite from the city, though in a walkable neighborhood. It was home away from home. Definitely want to return.
- 5/5
What a rad spot...great staff, A M A Z I N G breakfast (can I say Nutella and banana stuffed French toast?!), nice sauna on premise, clean rooms, so much to look at, and I parked in the garage! Will be back...daughters had a blast.
- 5/5
This used to be Ray's photo studio, because he was a professional photographer. That probably wouldn't matter to most people, but I am also a professional photographer and I really enjoyed talking with Ray about birds and his travels. I really appreciated the indoor parking, and the breakfasts were very large. The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining everything that we had access to in the building. It would be a great stop for kids because of all the games available. Loved it, and will stay there again the next time we visit Chicago!
- 5/5
This B&B is a gem. Loved it. It’s like staying in someone’s huge, comfortable home with a fabulous hostess. Plenty of parking, creative decor, and the huge made to order breakfast is fabulous. They have snacks, homemade baked goods and all kinds of drinks in the kitchen. They serve breakfast until 11 for late risers. Laundry, sauna, steam room. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
A very unique, fun, and accommodating place to stay. They made check-in super easy. The building was fun to explore. The breakfast was excellent! Even though they were out of parking in their garage, there was plenty of free street parking available in the area. Definitely would recommend to anyone staying in Chicago.
- 4/5
My niece and I stayed at Ray's for the Billie Eilish concert. The beds could have been more comfortable BUT the next day when we were checking out they actually had all new mattresses delivered! So that's nice! The property manager was great! The breakfast *chef's kiss*! And the free garage packing?! Come on! I felt safe, comfortable and told my bff this is where we're staying for. Our next trip to Chicago! The sauna and steam shower were nice too!
- 5/5
I chose Rays s it was conveniently located near my client. A B&B would never be my choice for a business trip but I feel lucky I found this place. Great accommodations. Felt like a mini vacation. I’m returning when I can.
- 5/5
We were in town visiting family and needed a place for one night. Perfect for us. Easy to find near our family with free parking. Breakfast was delicious and staff was great.
- 5/5
We were a last minute stay, and staff took extra care to make sure our arrival went smoothly. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choices, all delicious

- 5/5
You will see the extra touches and will put this on the list of a must stay when you are in Chicago.
- 5/5
We stayed at Ray’s while visiting Chicago for a concert at The Salt Shed. We’re so happy we took a chance and booked this room! The area is cute, street parking was relatively easy, the room was fun and the whole vibe was very unique and eclectic. There are so many fun accents all over the place. Breakfast was easy and very good! We will be back!
- 5/5
Everyone was super nice and the entire area had a cozy feel. Will definitely be coming back for another stay.
- 5/5
Our family loved our time at Ray's. Our boys slept in the bunk-bed lofts. Great location in a cool neighborhood in the heart of the city. Close to the free parking lot for Cubs games. Incredible breakfast and hospitable customer service. Thanks, awesome hosts!
- 5/5
Beautiful and eclectic place. I don’t know who dusts everything but they do a great job. Everything spotless and the staff were wonderful. Will be back!
- 5/5
Great B&B! Very clean, tons of amenities, great location/neighborhood. Easy to find and parking is free! Excellent breakfast!
- 5/5
We love Rays and you should too. So chill and quirky it’s comforting and relaxing like a get away should be. Book it!
- 5/5
What isn’t to love about Ray’s?! The staff were friendly and welcoming, the breakfasts were delicious, and the room was cozy and comfortable. Not to mention, close to transportation and the area is safe and walkable. I’ve found my go-to place to stay whenever I visit Chicago in the future!
- 5/5
Great breakfast! Nice room w/ ensuite bathroom. Very friendly staff.
- 5/5
What a fun and magical place! The staff were warm and welcoming with plenty of recommendations on where to go and what to do. Made to order breakfast daily from a delicious menu. If you are in Chicago, this is where you need to stay! Can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
A cute little bed and breakfast in Bucktown, only about a mile walk from anything you could need. Beautifully decorated and furnished. The Cardinal room was great, private bathroom, comfortable beds, and more wonderful artwork. The cooked to order breakfast was some of the best home cooking I've had, and the sauna and steam rooms in the basement were a cherry on top!
- 5/5
What a gem! Trust me, book this spot!
- 5/5
What a fun and magical place! The staff were warm and welcoming with plenty of recommendations on where to go and what to do. Made to order breakfast daily from a delicious menu. If you are in Chicago, this is where you need to stay! Can’t wait to come back!

We only ate one breakfast, because we had to leave the house before 7 most days. The breakfast was great, a lot of choices. When we came in at night there was always a plate of snacks available and there were plenty of waters available. One of the best things was that when we told Kat that we had to leave early on the last day to catch our plane. she prepare to go breakfast bags for each of us, that made it through TSA with no problems. We would definitely stay again, but would like to try another room as it appeared that each room was as different as the decorations in the whole house.
- 5/5
Had a fantastic experience!
- 5/5
Breakfast was delicious! Well done!
- 5/5
Such a unique and fun place to stay. The staff was incredible. My family and I cannot wait to come back!
- 5/5
Ray's breakfasts are outstanding!
- 5/5
We loved our stay! Easy to find and check in, very clean, staff was amazingly helpful, and the breakfast was more than expected. The place has a lot of warmth and charm. Perfect if you want to live like a local and be able to walk to your dining and pubs. We’d definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
What a gem! Beautiful neighborhood, close to restaurants, shopping and the surrounding area is so pretty. The place itself is so warm, quirky and set up so well! We got a garage spot to park which was bonus! The cooked to order breakfast was delicious and the staff were so friendly! Communication was excellent and check in was super smooth. Highly recommend Ray’s Bucktown B & B!
- 4/5
This is an interesting alternative to the downtown hotels, with tons more character and charm but somewhat less comfort and convenience. It's in a very nice residential neighborhood, only about 1/2 mile from the train to town (and O'Hare Airport), but not much in the way of commercial activity nearby. The place itself is eccentric and quirky but within that the staff is extremely helpful and kind, and the breakfast was simply spectacular. They work very hard to make guests comfortable and provide abundant food -- snacks at all times, coffee any time, etc. The room was perfectly comfortable, quiet and well-equipped.
- 5/5
This is a great property to stay at while in Chicago. Many bars and restaurants nearby as well as easy to get to public transportation. Staff and breakfast are incredible.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay when visiting Chicago. Peaceful area with a lot to explore and not too far from downtown. Clean, spacious room with amenities to enjoy while staying and also yummy breakfast as part of your stay.

Ray's Bucktown B&B is a great place to stay when visiting Chicago. The decor is ecclectic with tons of intersting antiques, art and just fun things that Ray has collected over the years. The rooms are comfy. The food is amazing and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Located in a nice neighborhood
- 5/5
Incredible place. Awesome breakfast. Comfy, spacious, quirky and fun.
- 4/5
Great place to stay. It was a little noisy in the morning with the plumbing upstairs but not terrible. Staff was great.
- 5/5
Absolutely 100% recommend this place! So cute, eclectic, clean, and staff was so gracious. Plus breakfast was so delicious!
- 5/5
Absolutely adored this place!!! Such a cute little bed and breakfast with the nicest staff! Definitely will go back and stay again!!!
- 5/5
Eclectic space, all the amenities, and great staff
- 5/5
The stay was just what we were hoping for. Pleasant and kind staff at every step of the visit. We felt welcomed and comfortable. The room was inviting. The area is easily walkable to restaurants. We will be staying on our next visit.
- 5/5
entire staff was amazing and made feel very welcome and safe as a solo traveler. filled with amazing art and antiques everywhere you look. food was delicious, and having my own parking spot in a garage was the cherry on top. will definitely be returning!
- 5/5
The property is relaxed and eclectic! The staff has been I credible! Looking forward to breakfast in the morning.
- 5/5
Ashlee was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Wonderful breakfast made fresh daily. Eclectic collections throughout, quiet area and wonderful neighborhood.
- 5/5
Charming property in a safe neighborhood! Excellent customer service, enjoyed the stay!
- 5/5
Great place in the Bucktown area! Food was wonderful!! Very friendly people, especially Cat!!
- 5/5
*Note abt the Eagle’s Nest room: hotel hallways are often very busy and the constant activity keeps my dog on edge. In the Eagle’s Nest, there is a small room with a desk which is secluded in a corner away from the hallway door and would hold a small crate easily making the layout great for small dogs to have a comfortable and quiet stay.
- 5/5
I don’t write reviews ever, but I will for Ray’s Bucktown B&B! The place was phenomenal!! The owners make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The amenities, cleanliness, free made to order breakfast, and service can’t be beat. It’ll be our go to place to stay from now on when we are in CHI!
- 5/5
So much like home but with amazing staff, breakfast and kind touches.
- 5/5
Ray's is wonderful! More like staying at a friend's house than a hotel. The staff is delightful and the breakfast amazing (and made to order). I stayed in the Woodpecker room which was cozy, but it had a very comfortable bed. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Best B&B I’ve ever stayed at! The delicious breakfast alone is worth writing home about! Will ABSOLUTELY be staying here every time I’m in Chicago!
- 5/5
Just fantastic. Oozes with character, staff is super nice and helpful, and the breakfast is fantastic. Easy street parking and its a quick drive/Lyft to the Salt Shed. Truly a wonderful place to stay and will likely stay again if we're ever in town for a show in the area!
- 5/5
A great place to stay when you want to close to everything Chicago!
- 5/5
Great location, great breakfast and friendly staff
- 5/5
I absolutely loved staying at rays b&b!
- 5/5
This was one of the best properties we have traveled to in the world (and we have traveled)! Kudos on personable service, comfortable beds, kwirky but homey decor, and probably the best made to order breakfast I have had in a long time. Highly recommend and look forward to staying here again!
- 4/5
The room was quite small but the breakfast was great!
- 5/5
So many incredible things to say... hope to return soon
- 5/5
Lots of stuff - but once you get past that - best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. The nicest staff and overall I wish I had more time to spend there.
- 5/5
Great find. Great value. Excellent breakfast.
- 5/5
Very unique property with plenty of diverse artwork to explore throughout. The breakfast was fantastic, room was comfy with a good bed, the surrounding area is nice and walkable, and the staff was so warm and welcoming. I will stay here again!
- 5/5
Continues to be the best kept secret in Chicago.
- 5/5
The place and the staff is amazing. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Would give 6 stars in every category if possible. Funky decor. Friendly staff. Superb breakfast.
- 5/5
This is now our go-to when visiting family in Chicago! If you don't like funky and fun, a run-of-the-mill hotel is for you. Our Woodpecker Room was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast marvelous.
- 5/5
Great place, great staff, great location.
- 5/5
This is the coolest place we’ve ever stayed! Like living in a homey vintage art museum. Only place we’ll stay in Chicago
- 5/5
This was one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed in! The food was amazing, the amenities (sauna, roof deck, 24-hour snacks) surprising, and the people – both hosts and guests - super friendly and interesting. The art and collectibles all over the place were a delight to look at. We also enjoyed the great neighborhood.
- 5/5
This place was the best! They helped us with anything and everything. The breakfast was amazing every morning of our stay. Any little thing we asked help with, they went above and beyond. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!
- 5/5
The property is beautifully decorated inside. All sort of things to make the stay comfortable--umbrellas, toiletries if you forgot anything, bottled water. The staff are outstanding--front desk, the people who make the breakfast and serve it, everyone is so nice and welcoming. Nice quiet, comfortable beds, clean, peaceful, and rejuvenating.
- 5/5
Unique B&B in a very relaxing setting. Wonderful and friendly people and in the perfect place for dining and bars.
- 5/5
This was a definite hidden gem. Wish I knew about it 10 years ago. And don't get me started on the food. Delicious is not a big enough word for it!
- 5/5
This is one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. Art EVERYWHERE, amazing, helpful and kind staff, super clean room and bathroom. Beautiful linens and robes to use. A dry and wet sauna. Seriously, these folks have thought of everything. Cannot recommend this enough. Breakfast was delicious. Just book it, you will not be disappointed.
