The number of tables are limited in the café des architectes. Hence, you might have to wait to get a seat.

We loved the hotel! The staff told us they would charge us 5 dollars because we asked them to put a surprise in our friends’ bed room we considered that a bad gesture, to charge for a favour, that should be included in customer service. But overall it was perfect!

There was no sheet on the bed, just a down comforter. Nobody came to clean the room when we got back in the early evening. At that point, we just asked for some towels.

Sofitel is located near so many restaurants and close to Michigan Ave. The rooms are beautiful and clean. We had everything we needed. The beds are very comfortable and I will definitely re-book on my next Chicago trip.

Housekeeping came way late in the day even past 6 PM. I’ve never seen that in a hotel before. Also the elevators take forever. It doesn’t seem like they’re all working. I will say the staff is very friendly all the way around and the location is very convenient. A great area to stay in and walk to different restaurants and shop shops. That’s the best part of the hotel.

We texted as instructed for pickup and waited 30 minutes for our car. I had to go in to reception to ask them to call the valet as we needed to get to the airport for a 9am flight. It wasn't busy as it was 7am and we found out the valet had left his phone at a desk so would never have found out unless reception paged him. I still tipped him and regretted it after thinking about it some more. The rest of the hotel is perfect as expected and we have stayed here multiple times.

Farook at the front desk has made staying at this Sofitel such a pleasant experience. He makes checking in and out a breeze and is attentive to the needs of my family during our stay.

It was very clean, nice, and very convenient too. They will bring food to your room if you need them too. And is close by other stores you can walk around and go too. I would go back again

Overall excellent. Some things could have been better. The shower stall is kind of dark when taking a shower. The air conditioner / furnace in the room closet is loud when it is on. The La Bar lounge is very small and gets taken over by rehearsal dinner wedding parties. People are loud and abnoxious and force you out of there. It should be larger or the wedding people should have their own place to celebrate. Our room was located close to the elevators. We could hear them going up and down all night long.

Then when e went out to get our car out of the valet, he asked if we had it called up, no I didn’t know that we had to do that no one told us…he seemed very annoyed, so that made us feel like crap!

Reception was a bit negative , was not happy we booked with Expedia and will not grant us any of the perks that platinum members get like early checking if available in this case I have to pay , told us there will be water on the room and that was negative, no water . I was surprised that the bedding did not have a top sheet, just the comforter. Didn't like that. Could not figure out the coffee maker and our room would not cool down. Otherwise, we were very pleased with our stay and loved that it was close to the L. Staff was very pleasant and the room was very clean. We will stay there again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth from check-in to check-out. The location and surroundings were also very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers and would be happy to stay here again in the future

The staff went above and beyond to greet me and make me feel incredibly welcome the minute I stepped foot on the premise of the hotel. OB at the Concierge desk was especially wonderful and he was on site to make sure I could visit museums and sites while I was in Chicago. My room was quiet and peaceful and I appreciated the evening turn down service with chocolates and classical music. I traveled for a combination of work and leisure, and I felt well rested each morning. I would highly recommend The Sofitel if you appreciate a more relaxed European atmosphere and are seeking to explore Chicago on foot. Its location is idyllic for walking and it is incredibly close to the lake and all of the shops & restaurants on the Mag Mile.

My room was pristine upon arrival. Each day the staff came in, organized my items, left water for me each night, and just provided an overall fantastic experience. The location is right by great shopping and restaurants so it was so much fun.

I arrived at noon, well before the 3:00 PM check-in time, and was told my room was already ready. However, I was then asked to pay a $25 fee to access it early. Charging a guest extra for a room that is already prepared feels opportunistic and unnecessarily cheap. I paid, and then at check out today expressed this exact sentiment and was met with complete apathy.

Great stay!

Stayed at the Sofitel for a long weekend with my family. It was very clean and staff was super responsive. The food at the restaurants on the property are also worth a try. The hotel is located in a great shopping area as well. Note that if you’re planning on driving, parking with valet or in the hotel garage is a bit pricey.

One of the best status in Chicago. Room pristine, complementary water bottles, 24 hr gym, great location. Pleasently surprise to see “tofu” as an add on protein - as a vegan I appreciate it so much. Downside no pool, but other than that 10/10

Overall, this is an excellent hotel.It's location is perfect, close to restaurants, a Whole Foods, and Michigan Avenue.Staff were attentive and professional.The room was quiet, clean, and larger than typical. And the breakfast was delicious, though a bit stingy in what was included in the standard booking. Must one pay extra for coffee in addition to orange juice? I resent the resort fee charged--another instance of corporate nickel and diming that would make me think twice about staying in at another Accor hotel. Newspapers and water bottles were nowhere to be seen. Knowing this is an international chain, I expected a much wider selection of television channels--BBC and others--and was shocked by the paltry options, another instance of cheapness. Many less luxurious hotels offer more. If not for these two complaints, the hotel would be perfect

Clean room

Decided to have a staycation in the city to avoid flying for Spring Break with my teenage daughter. The stay was meh and the room was not as expected. The employee at the front desk made me feel like a second class citizen for booking with Expedia. For the price that I paid, felt it should’ve been a different experience. The “city view” was literally looking at the buildings next door. I found out at checkout that the complimentary parking was not complimentary. Overall, it’s a great location for walking around the mag mile but I wouldn’t stay there again.

I have stayed here many times and always loved it. But I had a rude waiter at a Sunday brunch - we had to wait a long time for any service, then the wait staff kept bringing the wrong items and were slow to respond to requests for the correct items and were generally unpleasant.

The hotel’s location was excellent and made getting around very convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the stay. Best hotel stay I've had in Chicago in many years. My 20th floor suite was spectacular and truly a home away from home. The Wifi was perfect and easy to access making the room and lobby ideal places to work remotely. I also loved the bath products which provide a spa element to my stay.

Room was nice. They gave us a room on highest floor which was really nice. Very welcoming at check in and easy check out. We were there during new years so lots of in and out traffic but wasn’t super loud and security on site too. One thing that disappointed us was we found a used condom in our room under the bed so that wasn’t great. One minor stain on one of the sheets but nothing crazy. Still, not ideal. Told the front desk and they removed one of the fees for those things but I feel like they could’ve done more honestly. This is honestly our only complaint. Beds were comfy so that’s a plus and views were great.

I will start by saying, this hotel used to be A+, but the last two stays I cannot say the same sadly. It saddens to to have to even write such a review. Seems like over the last two years it has been on a slow decline with last few months really sealing the deal on quality. It almost feels like they have had a shift in management or something. The room just sadly was NOT clean. and it even looked as if it had not been cleaned from the last two occupants. There were disgusting stains on the the couch( so we could not sit there), table had spill stains(so we could not use it), and on the hand towels in the bathroom..... one would assume they had just been folded vs replaced. I was truly disappointed . The stay was not comfortable at all.

Beautiful new hotel..very nice rooms! The room we initially got had no hot water. Although we had to wait a little for the resolution and enginnering team, the hotel ended up upgrading us to a better home and ensured hot water was there.

Beautiful property, just as I had remember it from several years ago. It's located in a great area that is walking distance from all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Staff is impeccable, kind and attentive. Breakfast was divine. I had the omelette made with wild mushrooms and whipped brie cheese - it was perfectly fluffy and tasty. The room was beautiful and very quiet. The decor is cozy and contemporary. Bathrooms are lovely. Towels are large and soft. The robe is a nice touch as well. Backlite TV remotes are much appreciated as well as the night lite switch plates. The only issues worth mentioning are the room plants. They need sunlight and staff should back off on over watering them - it's just not heathy for them. Also fix the ice maker on floor 19. See you all next time.

The room, although large and spacious, is very poorly laid out. The shower and closet are tiny, and there is only one sink. We stayed at the Sofitel because the service is usually outstanding, but on this occasion it was only okay, they only met expectations—nothing surprising.

They open the doors for you and all when they can. we booked the luxurious room awe they don’t have a microwave in the rooms u have to ask n they will bring u 1 they do have valet parking and self parking but that fill up fast asl so we wind up finding parking around the corner n ubering to places we wanted to go ps I am a real person not staff 😂😂uk when u see too many good reviews u start to thinking “man that’s they staff

This was our first stay at the Sofitel Chicago and we had a great experience. The customer service provided by the front desk, housekeeping, and at Le Bar was excellent. It was also steps from many restaurants and shopping.

We had a high floor and the view was captivating.the room was very clean, the staff were generally very helpful. The bellman was very friendly and courteous. Turn down service with water and chocolate was grand ( though, given its luxury status was expected). The concierge was very helpful as we departed - he handled a currency matter for me. Except for a snafu at time of arrival, we everything was as expected. But for the arrival snafu, the rating would have been 5 stars. Maybe it's a sign of the changing times, as Sofitel is a luxury brand, it creates certain expectations.While the expectations were generally met, there was no "wow" factor attached to the delivery of those expectations.

I normally have a great experience in all Sofitel hotels that I travel to for work . Today I walked to the reception to speak to the closes person to me who had no client in front of him wearing a concierge outfit . As I asked him the question of what time the breakfast is over and where are the meeting room ? he asked me to go speak to the other young man as he was busy . Really ? The young man who was absolutely delightful helped me with all my questions and answered my question by telling me I can also use the business center upstairs for all my meetings. I thanked him and went upstairs into the meeting room and took the first room as I was told no reservation is required. My meeting started and I was having a very important presentation where this very rude lady just walked in without knocking and even though she saw me presenting, she interrupted me and said, “Do you have a reservation because I need to show the room to some people? She was an event person.” The body language and demeanor were extremely offending . I then told her I was told no appointment is required for the room and she said, “Well, I have a showing and stayed in the room for me to leave and I said, “Can you give me a second so I finish?” Where in the world is such a thing normal ? Walking into a room seeing someone present and interrupt me in front of my guest and ask me to leave and stay for me to leave ? I’m not a thief but a great guest of Sofitel . That was the worst experience and I hope someone

Clean Room and Great Staff

But, from a guest’s point of view, if I’d been pleasantly surprised by the concierge meeting my needs, I’d have spent the last week telling all my friends and colleagues they needed to stay at the Sofitel the next time they’re in the city. Instead, Im writing this review,’publicly, and for total strangers. Just as the concierge recorded neither any wins nor any losses, and ultimately left me unfulfilled, so too did the rooms, the dining, and the property’s facilities. No complaints, but no praise either. The Chicago property is best compared to “preferred seating” on a mid tier carrier. Staying here is a definite upgrade from your basic economy seating, but if you had already been expecting first class, you’re going to be pretty disappointed.

I had an excellent stay at Sofitel. We were visiting for leisure. Prior to arriving, the concierge reached out to see if any accommodations were needed and the service was 10/10 from the moment we arrived to the time we checked out. Clean room, friendly staff, and in a convenient location for shopping. We also enjoyed dining during happy hour at Le Bar. I will definitely book Sofitel on my next visit to Chicago.

Wonderful stay!

Some disappointments. After trying to access ice from the machines on three different floors of which none were operational/dispensing it was disappointing that we had to call the front desk and or room service to have ice delivered. The phone in our room had line one that did not function at all and both lines were so static that you could hardly hear the front desk or room service agent and had to then call the hotel from our cell phone to have the ice delivered. We did appreciate, however, the QR code that we finally realized we could communicate everything through that.

The suite was beautiful, spacious, and very clean. I loved the large windows and the amazing city view. The staff were very nice, and the location was perfect with everything nearby.

This one is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff are extremely rude and lack basic customer service !! refusing to give me a refund that I’m entitled to. On top of all that, the lady that seems to be in charge is somehow conveniently never there when I call… which happens to be every day. I HATE THIS HOTEL!!! They could have made things right and they would have a customer for life, but since they decided to do me wrong, none of my friends nor family stay at this mediocre hotel with the worst staff I’ve ever encountered in a five star hotel

Amazing service and location 10/10

Very good location close to so many things.

Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. Valet was especially helpful in providing directions when I was looking for the Red Line station. They were also extremely quick at getting my car ready when it was time for me to leave. The hotel was nicely kept and a perfect location. Very pleased with my stay.

Wish I could give 5 stars. Really like this hotel. The views are great and the rooms and suites are really nice. The reason I deducted a star is the sofa bed. Unbelievably uncomfortable. You can just look at it and see how bad it is. If you dont need to use one then you’re good to go. If you do need to use it then you’ve been warned.

Yes we loved our stay.

The hotel was decent (had its hit and misses). We had some issues with housekeeping not showing up after several requests. Location was great but the hotel felt very 4 star average. Dated overall. We have stayed at other Sofitel chains and this hotel seemed to fall short. It had a convention vibe overall. Our shower also leaked water onto the floor…. literally puddles and soaked towels after each shower. On a more positive note the concierge was very helpful with food suggestions throughout our stay and the gym was great.

Rooms were pretty sound proof. Didn’t hear anyone in hallways or next door

Stayed here while visiting family and while the location was prime, I feel like the rooms themselves were dated and could use a bit of a lift. When we walked in our room heavily smelled like mens cologne. We were given just two towels, a practice I notice a lot of European hotels are using - I wish 3 was the standard. The check in process took a bit with a long line and the bathroom in the lobby requires a card that only one person can have access to at a time. The beds and pillows were comfy but you could see the room needed a little bit more TLC in terms of cleaning. We used the hotel bar once and the service took forever- we sat for 45 minutes waiting for drinks to arrive and they were so expensive too. I dont think this is a bad spot by any means but this was not my favorite hotel I stayed in during 2025.

My stay was wonderful! The room was very comfortable and had a great view. The staff went above and beyond with whatever i needed. Will be staying here every time i need a city trip.

We had a stain on our couch and the property said it was cleaned but it was still very visable. luckily we were able to get someone to help us and we switched rooms.

The Sofitel Chicago is an excellent hotel in every aspect but one. During our trip the hotel was full due to the Chicago Marathon. Unfortunately, top capacity coincided with several elevators out of service. At best, this meant waits of 3-5 minutes for a car, and then trips of approximately the same length. At worst, this meant being stuck for much longer periods. The lobbies and floors would crowd, guests were irritated, and international incidents barely avoided. But for the constant elevator issues throughout our stay, this would have been an entirely excellent visit.

It’s a great option in Chicago

Very nice hotel located where I needed to be in Chicago. Large room, huge bathroom, soooo comfortable bed, and a view of the lake from the picture windows. Every friendly staff. Safe neighborhood. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay and were upgraded to the 30th floor. Good location! Unfortunately bar service was poor in bar as they got my drink wrong and was given a look like it was my fault. Very slow service to get our bill. I think they were understaffed. Overall we had a great time.

Outdated bathroom tap and shower! Actually old tap! I would replace them for a nicer ones ! Other then that 5 stars

Perfect Chicago location …have stayed here quite a few times and always great!

When we checked in there was evidence of a previous stay. This was quickly resolved when we reported it. Our housekeepers went above and beyond afterwards. We had an incident unrelated to the hotel and they helped us out quickly and with care. I will always stay at Sofitel when I visit Chicago!

Excellent hotel with a good price point and value in the center of the shopping area in Chicago. Walking distance to many restaurants and cafe.

It was fine. Rooms are a bit dated.

Stay-cation was relaxing. Everything was walkable, stayed in for breakfast one morning and it was amazing. Grew up in Chicago and it was like rediscovering our city. Found some really unique restaurants to dine in.

$25 daily surcharge for "amenities " then advertised "free" water. Amenities were one small bar of soap + containers in shower. Room 1214 was across from housekeeping closet. Lots of banging and door slamming

The Sofitel Magnificent Mile was a beautiful hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

We’ve been staying at Sofitel for over 15 years now. This was the first time I was dissapointed. We didn’t get the room we booked, they told us it was double booked and for some reason was given to another person. They didn’t even try to find us any better solutions! Didn’t expect this type of service!

The property was beautiful. And everything was walkable

We loved this hotel! The location was excellent, the hotel itself was really nice and the room was very comfortable. If you like to look at yourself, there were a lot of mirrors in the room. haha. We utilized Ubers/Lyft mainly and there were always some in the area with a 5 minute or so wait. We also walked quite a few places and it was an easy walk in a nice area. I would definitely stay here again.

Valet was extremely slow and the garage was full both days, so no option to just park in garage. Check in was very slow. Called front desk and Was told in room dining was 24hours, but then when I called to place an order at 11pm was told it was closed. Very expensive for the service

The ice machine on our floor was not working. I tried to reach my husband through the hotel phone and after many transfers still never got to him.

Overall, a great staycation for our family.

We reported the incident to the front desk the next morning, and a manager called us a few hours later to explain that it was part of their "night preparation" service. While we appreciate the follow-up, entering a guest’s room without knocking late at night was very upsetting and left us feeling uncomfortable.

Overall the hotel and room were nice but there were a few things that stood out as needing improvement. Gifts it seemed a bit odd that after checking in 48 hours in advance and being prompted to say my expected arrival time, only to be told upon checking that my room would not be ready until later. That’s fine and to be honest, expected, but being asked what time I’ll be arriving gives the impression that an early check in will be available. Seems odd to ask only to deny that option. The drain I the shower was very obstructed. After only a few seconds the water began to pool around my feet which feels kind of gross. Several outlets were coming out out of the wall. They needed to be pushed back in and one actually fell out of the wall and was handing by just the wires. Lastly the carton water serves was moldy. Had a very strong flavor of mold. I tried a second just to make sure it wasn’t me and the second carton was fine.

While I was in the room, a person pretending to be their stuff, appeared to be a thief. I felt very unsafe

Had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel with one minor glitch. For a portion of our stay, approximately 24 hours, the AC in the hotel was not working. It was fixed without issue but perhaps we should have been informed that there was a problem rather have us wonder why the room was so warm and the thermostat did not seem to work? Absolutely lovely staff and the common spaces as well as the room was beautiful!

Wonderful location in Chicago next to the Loyola University campus, walking distance to the red line, markets, shopping, and restaurants. If you don't want to go out there's room service. There's a delicious ice cream shop right across the street and you are also walking distance to the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel and location.

The hotel was very nice. Room was mice, and spotlessly clean. The staff was excellent - courteous, efficient and accommodating. My only complaint involved check-in. Check-in was scheduled for 3:00p.m. We arrived at 2:45. We were told our room was not yet ready. When we asked how long it would be, we were told maybe 3:30, but there were others ahead of us on a list waiting for rooms. We were then offered an upgrade for $30 p/n, and that room was available immediately. We were tired from a long day of travel, and paid for the upgrade. Later that evening, we found out from other family members, all there for a baby shower for my daughter, that they had been told the same thing, and likewise paid the upgrade. This seems highly suspicious, that none of our rooms were available, yet rooms were available, all at an up-charge. I’ve stayed at many luxury hotels, and have on occasion been offered a free upgrade when my original room wasn’t readily available.

Staff showed differential treatment which was extremely disappointing.

Outstanding location. Super clean. Great room. Only quibbles: The food onsite isn’t great (not a big deal when there are a million places walking distance) and the chairs they have in the suites are a hazard. Two people in our group cut themselves on the pointy metal part because the chair is weirdly situated in the middle of the room.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sofitel. Great location, walking distance to a cute little park, great shopping and great food. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent! Great coffee and food, excellent staff.

Service and property were great. Would happily re-book if the price is competitive.

The cleaning staff went above and beyond overall excellent there were some issues with the online service menu for dining and amenities and the facilities can use some attention when it comes to chipping paint and other small aesthetic details but otherwise fabulous

The suite was great, but the couch in the living room was not that comfortable. Everything else was awesome.
