Reviews
The hotel has a prime location, with many guests praising its proximity to Michigan Avenue and other attractions. However, there are mixed reviews about the rooms, with some guests finding them small, outdated, and in need of renovation. The staff and service also received mixed reviews, with some guests praising their friendliness and helpfulness, while others found them unfriendly and unresponsive.

Room was pretty good size, clean, and updated. The hallways can be quite small on some floors, including the floor we were on. Great location!

Good location Couldn’t extend my checkout to 2pm

The location on the Mag Mile is great, close to restaurants, shopping, and tourist sights. We enjoyed being in a grand old historic hotel. Narrow hallways and compact elevators, but that's how they built things 100 years ago. Thankfully the place has been well maintained and these were not major issues.
- 4.5/5
The room was far more spacious than I anticipated. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the long desk/vanity area that made up for the small, yet nice and updated, bathroom. The location was excellent for seeing the Michigan Avenue area. Walkable to shopping, lake front, and restaurants. The only two suggestions are to improve the lighting-there was not an overhead light and the lamps were not sufficient. Also, there was no luggage rack. I expected to find one in the closet and wondered if most of the rooms have one, but ours was an oversight.

Was very clean and the building was very nice. In general, we received a very professional treatment. The room we had was very small and basic. I’ve paid 415 for night, and with that cost you expect very nice conditions.

The location was excellent It’s was my anniversary weekend but they didn’t really say anything. I sent this message before we arrived "We would love a room with a nice view or on a higher floor if possible is our 26 anniversary celebration. But nothing

Location was good and room was clean but it was not a class establishment. Room was not cleaned on day 1. Room was small. Decor is tired. Faucet broke. Shower soap ran out. Entry and check in were confusing with lobby on 2nd floor and no sign or human on the ground floor. All easy things to solve.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The check-in/out process was easy and they even give you a couple of bottles of water. Very convenient to Northwestern and cheaper than other hotels in the area (yet still expensive overall). The room was adequate and actually quite roomy, but the carpet was pretty dirty and the whole thing was a little shabby. The closet light flickered so much that it was unusable. I didn't try any of the dining facilities, so can't comment on that, but they did look inviting. That said, there are plenty of great places to shop, several Starbucks and numerous restaurants in the area. Also, not a very far walk to Navy Pier and the boat cruises. Overall I would stay here again. It's just maybe slightly overdue for a glow-up, especially at the $500 per night price I paid for a pretty basic room.

We love staying at the Warwick! Every time we come to Chicago it’s our go-to! It’s convenient along the Magnificent Mile, the staff is always friendly, and the breakfast and bar are always nice with good options. I will definitely continue to book here when in Chicago

Location was good, rooms were comfortable. Location of lobby is not immediately clear when walking into hotel and no one was at the bag holding stand. The one time I went to the cafe for breakfast the cashier was missing for 15 minutes and very clearly didn't want to be there from how rude she was. Everywhere has it posted that the bar in the hotel is open from 4 to 11...it was not open, when we went to go we heard other guests ask about the bar and they got told that I closed at 7 like it was common knowledge, when us and two other parties were about to ask the same question.
- 4/5
Excellent value for the location. On the mag mile, and walking distance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Older property but well maintained and clean. We will be staying here again. The guest elevator didn’t like to open the doors when it reached the ground floor; definitely took some coaxing.

We stayed at the Warwick Allerton Hotel and overall had a good experience. The location was excellent and very convenient for the Magnificent Mile, which made getting around really easy. The room was large and clean. It was a comfortable stay and suited our needs well. We didn’t realise reception was actually on the second floor rather than the ground floor. We stood around for quite a while because there was no one available to let us know, and there also didn’t seem to be any signage. Although the room was lovely, large and spacious, there wasn’t much practical space for personal items in the bathroom. I’d have liked more space to put cosmetics and toiletries but it only had a small shelf above the sink.
- 4.5/5
Staff superfriendly at check in. Room looked and smelled clean. Convenient location to all we were doing. There really isnt anything to complain about. If I really wanted to get nitpicking, the TV was hing on the far wall near entrance so very difficult to watch in bed. Toilet was super low to the ground (I'm 6'1) and the fridge in the room was very small and could not hold much other than a few waterbottles on their side.
- 4.5/5
The only thing I wasn't pleased about was where my room was located. It was the room directly as you exit the elevator. As a solo female that is the least desireable room to occupy for security as well as noise.
- 5/5
Proximity to Magic Mile!
- 4/5
It’s a great building, but they need more staff on the weekends to make sure there’s someone at all of the stations most of the time. They get busy and they have to leave to accommodate guests, so I get it. But getting more staff at peak times would be better for everyone. Better ratings for your hotel, and more help for the staff, so you’re not stressing them out. Think of your workers, it’s hard to find good people.

The hotel itself has a classic Chicago vibe with a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was polite and professional, check-in was smooth, and overall the stay felt comfortable and stress-free. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago who wants a great location, comfort, and a true city experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Walking distance of where I had to be. Nice bed and room, a lot of lifts in the building. Vending machine didn’t work on credit or debit card. Not really my taste (but that’s a personal thing). Room door kind of old, was a bit off in the frame could see the hall through a wee splt.

We loved this hotel because of its central location in Chicago, very close to the Magnificent Mile. From the moment you walk into the lobby, the scent is amazing and makes the whole place feel welcoming and relaxing. Even though the rooms are small, they are very well designed and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, right on Michigan Ave, which means you are close to everything in the city centre and a block from the lake shore. I was upgraded to a fantastic room on the 24th floor (this is the third time I've stayed in the hotel and I know some of the rooms are very small - but over some of the best value in the city. The hotel is an older building which gives it great character which means it isn't as modern as some other hotels, but it is really comfortable. Not great food options in the hotel - but you are right beside lots of places to eat!

My wife suprised me for my 65th bday. She was really trying to go all out. The room itself was very disappointing, it had a connecting room where the man yelled ever night about 3:00am. The bed had a dip causing my wife to roll into me during the night. The bed was so close to the wooded cabinet located at the foot of bed I had to climb across the bottom of the bed to get in or out. The bathroom was beautiful at first glance but I begain to see the cracking paint peeling off the wall and I believe there was mole growing on the shower shelf. And the soap dispenser in the shower ran out. The room was tiny, it could have been organized better and I did not see it in any of the hotel pictures. My wife paid way to much for the worst room ever. We had a better stay at the Wingate by Wyndham for a lot less. We really deserve a refund and a apology. The room just felt like this is were we put people of color. We were on the 11th floor next to the elevator which we could hear at night.

Check in was a huge fiasco and only one guest agent. Definitely not a good first impression and a very dissatisfying experience. Staff was friendly but didn’t always seem knowledgeable. My room did not match the description of the room I booked, which hotel staff confirmed to me during my stay but told Expedia the opposite. Also- WiFi doesn’t work, not a single toiletry and rude staff. Great location but not a great hotel.
- 5/5
Always stay here when I’m in town. It never lets me down. Great location and very charming decor.
- 4/5
The only thing I didn’t really like was that there was additional charges after the stay. Called facilities charges. Which was explained to be the gym and the office space and the supposive free water we got. Although I had a card down for incidentals which is normal, got charged for facilities I didn’t use or know I was paying for. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels and never got a charge for the gym and office space the hotel comes with. However I never stayed in Chicago so maybe a Chicago thing. Not sure, but don’t like what felt like a hidden fee.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the stay but was disappointed that there was no brunch or piano bar music on SUNDAY as advertised on signs in hotel.

The petite suite was suitable for traveling for work, and the bed was comfortable enough. The location of the hotel to the bus line and restaurants/bars was probably the main reason I chose this hotel. There was no conditioner in the shower - be prepared to get your own. The wifi was slow and inconsistent.
- 5/5

The hotel’s billing process was confusing and frustrating—they charged my card upfront and held the funds, then charged me again separately at checkout, which didn’t make sense. The rooms were extremely small and felt outdated, almost like something out of a grandmother’s house, and the overall interior matched that same old-fashioned vibe. The elevators were uncomfortably tight, making it difficult to move around, especially with luggage. The valet service was also disappointing, as they didn’t assist with opening doors even when my hands were full. The bathroom layout was poorly designed—you can barely close the door without stepping into the shower first. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience.
- 5/5
The location is perfect it’s near everything. The staff was really nice I had no issues also The room is very spacious. My only issue is there’s no free breakfast for the amount I paid I feel like breakfast should be included and why am I paying resort fee? It’s clearly not a resort
- 0.5/5
I like how convenient the location was. It was a waking distance to most of the attractions we wanted to do. Wayne at the front desk is very professional Breakfast was of poor quality from a cafeteria type setting that was only opened for 6 hours a day. They didn’t have a restaurant on the property so every time we wanted to eat we had to go out. The WiFi worked for half our stay. The bar only opened on the last day of our stay(we were there for 4 days). The AC wasn’t working in our room. The bed was sunken in the middle and not of good quality. In the shower, instead of a body wash, we had a hand wash and a shampoo. Elevators were EXTREMELY small it was unbelievable. The rooms in general were smaller than what was advertised but Wayne at the front desk was kind enough to offer us an upgrade
- 5/5
It was great! Place was clean! Lobby was beautiful! The beds were a bit hard, kind of like sleeping on a wooden box but that doesn’t deter your stay, and the staff were accommodating! If you want to do an early check in, best to do it at 2pm, anything earlier, you’ll have to pay! You can also store your luggage while waiting for your check in
- 4/5
The location. The room and bathroom were not that clean. The woodwork, walls, carpet were not clean. The bathroom shower floor had visible dust and body hair and we cleaned it ourselves before using. The bathroom woodwork and walls were dirty. Our room had only one window that looked out onto a fire escape.
- 3/5
The cleanliness was really good I will say, the location was also not so bad either. The stuff was alright but for the issues we had and how cheap it was, it truly couldve been a little better and less "judgy" considering how cheap it was. But we were not very impressed. The rooms were not how they seemed in the photos. It was very misleading. They also didn't mention that the rooms you might get are also connected to the rooms next door and while yes they did have a door over it which you could open and unlock/lock, it was only covered with a very thin wood panel and me and the people beside us could hear everything. Whether it was their full on conversations, or other stuff or them using the bathroom.. did i mention using the bathrooms? I could hear them quite literally GOING to the bathroom the walls are so thin and the separation board was NOT thick enough at all. Also I am not sure if it was our neighbors or what but every random moments we would smell straight sewage and it quite literally woke me up out of bed it was so strong. We had debated on going to another hotel and maybe we should've but it was paid for already and we were only there for a short time. Unfortunately I do not recommend. Maybe if they updated the rooms and made SEPARATE rooms without a thin wood sheet to separate the rooms and fixed the plumbing issue and showed photos of how the rooms truly looked. I would rate it higher but until then, spend the extra money somewhere else.

The room was clean. The hotel staff was very friendly. One of the people who works the is a young man named Marcus ( not sure of the correct spelling) , he was the most delightful person that I encountered. He was so friendly and very helpful. He made my stay there a wonderful experience.

- 2/5
I’m surprised how high the reviews were for this hotel. I felt absolutely tricked when I got inside the room. The rooms are SO dated and not in a vintage way - more in an old, never been renovated way. The rooms are tiny! The beds are so hard and uncomfortable and the comforters/pillows seem like they’ve not been refreshed in 20 years. The location is the only redeeming aspect of this hotel as it’s right on Michigan avenue. That however causes the room to be quiet noisy with street noise from busy Michigan avenue. I definitely would not stay here again unless it gets a major refresh/tenovation.
- 5/5
Room was perfect for a solo traveler. I felt safe because there was a door man and being in busy area made me feel safe too. They did forget to give me a quilt, so I only had a sheet and blanket so I got a little cold. But that was ok because I was able to turn the heater on. Parking was a little hard, but it’s Chicago so it’s not surprising

Very accomodating: I needed a much earlier check-in than normal and for a fee I was allowed to check in to both of my rooms. Housekeeping was attentive and quick. Great location. Bathrooms could be updated/cleaned up. Caulking re-done, just little things.

The hotel it’s in a great location, but it’s very old need updates and definitely they need to improve on their amenities. They only have soap, they offer 2 bottles of water
- 3/5
It’s okay for one, maybe two nights. Breakfast is not included. You can’t book a room directly at the hotel, you have to use apps. The staff isn’t very friendly, just okay.. I’m local, so the location wasn’t important for me but it’s great if you’re visiting Chicago. Room is small and pretty old but as I said before it’s ok for one -two nights.Overall, everything was fine but I would recommend finding a better option.
- 1/5
Really bad
- 5/5
The only hotel I’ll stay at in Chicago!
- 5/5
Perfect location, and met all my needs.
- 5/5
Warwick Allerton is my favorite place to stay when visiting Chicago! Staying in the Gold Coast means walking distance from the restaurants, stores and other Chicago touristy things. Super close to Nordstrom, Tiffany, Ralph Lauren etc. 5 minute walk to Steak 48 for dinner & about a 15 minute walk to the Navy Pier! A Walgreens is also close by for any last minute needs or touristy things like magnets and keychains. This hotel was also very accommodating, clean and had super kind staff. Parking is simple.. either use valet at the hotel or the hotel next door’s parking garage!
- 5/5
Great property otherwise, will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
This is our go to hotel for visiting our son in Chicago. Convenient and classy but affordable.
- 5/5
We had a nice stay here. The best part for us was the location. The breakfast cafe was nice but busy and seemed to be out of things but what we did get was good.
- 5/5
I visited the Cafe the next morning to order a cappuccino. The espresso machine was not working, alternative was a large coffee carafe with terrible coffee and charged $6 per cup. Should have been complimentary for paying guests. Other than that great location & Staff.
- 4/5
This is an older hotel in a very good location. My room was clean but fairly basic, however perfectly adequate. Good bed and everything worked except the coffee maker.
- 5/5
A beautiful historic hotel...we very much enjoyed our stay there.
- 5/5
The room was nicer than the ones at the The Drake and The Palmer House, just saying. I stayed at both in the last year. It's cleaner and more modern. David was really nice and friendly
- 5/5
Clean room, great check-in and room availability. Great location. No body lotion provided (would have expected it).
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Well priced
- 4/5
Requested additional towels, never came. Luggage racks were difficult to obtain. Rooms are small. Bring your own hairdryer. Water pressure in shower is minimal.
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel, everything you need in walking distance, bars, restaurants, transport and the river
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Clean but small rooms, nice location, the hotel offers bag holding service for a small fee so you don't have to lug em around the city.
- 5/5
Location is great.
- 5/5
Excellent service, clean, comfortable, and a great location.
- 5/5
Loved the view and may windows the room had
- 2/5
The bathroom was literally falling apart, the room was tiny, and each room was a completely different size in the same booking of the same room. Limit of 2 water bottles per day when asking for that price is ridiculous. Staff was nice, AC was fine and rooms were clean. The hotel gets the job done, but it’s not worth the price when there’s so many nicer hotels for less nearby.
- 5/5
Amazing location literally everything is close by and you could walk
- 5/5
It was a very busy weekend for Saint Paddy‘s day and I thought the staff was amazing. They were very accommodating and helpful.
- 5/5
Fantastic!!! Staff are lovely, plenty of tips for your Chicago trip. And they gave us a lovely upgrade and bottle of vibo for my wife’s Birthday. So generous. The views from the room were fab, the bar is lovely. Happy hr too. You will not get a more centrally located hotel for the prices. Right on the magnificent mile!! Got the blue metro to Washington and the 146 bus brought us to the door of the hotel.. couldn’t be easier. Thank you for a wonderful stay. The staff and hotel made it all the better
- 5/5
Nice location! Great rooms! Great price!
- 5/5
Centrally located, beautiful old hotel.
- 4/5
Good old fashioned city hotel in a good location for tourists. All the wonderful department store nearby have fallen on hard times and were disappointing, but it was easy to get to museums, food, and hipper neighborhoods. It was very good for a longer stay (almost 2 weeks for me).
- 5/5
Big shopping srea
- 1/5
Went to sit down on the bed, the bed was really hard, could definitely feel the springs in the mattress and felt like the bed was on the floor. There was a definite dip in the middle of the mattress when you went to lay down you naturally fell into.
- 5/5
The public transportation was extremely close by, which made sightseeing very attainable.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Clean room, great location!
- 3/5
The staff was gracious and helpful. The bar is a nice feature but with an uncomfortable room that didn't invite a feeling of welcome, the overall stay was very disappointing. We have stayed in the hotel before and was excited to return. This trip was such a disappointment.
- 3/5
The room was a bit looked over. There were apot on the wall, shower wall and someone left over razor protector in the shower.
- 5/5
Excellent as always
- 5/5
The clean room, the staff, everything - great customer service!
- 1/5
Room was extremely small- the bed took up the whole space. Did not feel comfortable and ended up leaving instead of spending the night.
- 5/5
Clean and spacious rooms. Great location!
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
Hotel was fine, staff was very friendly. Just note that it's next door to a hospital and the ambulance run all night. If you're a light sleeper, it would be best to avoid.
- 3/5
It’s was a nice room but much smaller than I expected
- 4/5
Location was fantastic
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
Difficult to access electrical outlets. Tiny TV. Uncomfortable seating.
- 2/5
no room cleaning for 3 days.. rooms are outdated. i wouldn't stay here again. Resort fee is also not justified... theres no amenities...
- 5/5
The staff was the best part, thank you Marcus! This made the stay, at this beautiful hotel. In a world that can seem disconnected, Marcus greeted us with a warm smile, a firm handshake, and gave us the lay of the land. His kind heart was welcoming and engaged. Finding amazing staff like this is hard to come by (coming from a a hospitality background). Our room was spotless and very comfortable. The common areas and hallways were clean and welcoming. I will recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 2/5
Location is nice as well as the rooms however we got double charged for the service fee. We stayed for 3 nights and got charged 180 dollars which is the normal price however after we checked out we got charged another 180 dollars so in total 360 dollars.
- 5/5
Very beautiful room
- 5/5
The hotel is very nice and located in the heart of Chicago. Easy access to transportation and food.
- 5/5
Location was perfect, easily accessible
- 5/5
Check-in and check-out agents were professional and kind. Room was clean and had a nice view over the Magnificent Mile.
- 5/5
Staff were amazing and the cafe in the lobby was delicious! I understand that it’s Chicago but I wish parking was included. Even if it makes the hotel more expensive. Overall 10/10 will come again.
- 4/5
Some rooms ate cramped-1117 as an example
- 5/5
Pretty convenient place to stay
- 4/5
Room was nice and clean. Bathroom very small
- 4/5
Good place. Perfect position
- 4/5
Perfect spot. Clean. However rooms are a little outdated and mine didn’t have a dresser or microwave which I found a little odd. Other than that great place no complaints.
- 3/5
I wish it was a complimentary breakfast offered as it stayed on the site
- 5/5
Room was clean and housekeeping came every morning to replenish anything we desired, staff were very friendly and always trying to help, bartender was very helpful and fun. Gym was great and 24 hr vending machines
- 5/5
It was a great experience overall.
- 4/5
The facility was lovely. Staff was kind BUT the bellman was rarely at his station. The area where our bags were kept were within eye sight BUT he was never there to take or give bags promptly. He was hopefully busy doing other things for staff and guests but this was a downside of our stay.
- 5/5
The location was perfect. Rooms are clean, but hotel is a tad dated. Front door personnel were great! So friendly, always happy. Get those men a heater!
- 5/5
Great room, spacious and clean
- 2/5
Yaphett Pruitt P.S. I'd have paid more for a stay with free breakfast...
- 3/5
The room was very much in need of a renovation. Very old, small and run down. Beds are small, not queen size and uncomfortable. Staff were lovely and hotel in a good location but I will not stay here again due to the uncomfortable bed
- 4/5
The staff was non welcoming. With barely some greetings from the front desk. We even sometimes feel like bothering them when asking questions. During these 4 days, we have seen many different people behind the desk, and only one was nice and welcoming. The room was small as well, but enough for a few days.
- 4/5
Rooms were small but very clean, staff was great. Wish that the bar open late on new years
- 5/5
We stayed in the classic - petite room and it was perfect for the two of us. A little small as expected but it has three windows and a beautiful view of Magnificent Mile. The staff were super friendly and the room was clean and comfy. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Great experience!
- 4/5
Very convient to shopping.
- 3/5
Beware when you check-in, you will have to pay a $25 per night "Resort Fee" -- This place is in no way a resort!!
- 5/5
Staff was amazing
- 5/5
Great room. Beautiful building. Very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Every thing is perfect, the location, safe for solo travel.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
clean room
- 5/5
I always stay in this hotel while in Chicago because of how reliable, clean, and comfy the rooms are. We have stayed in all size rooms and they are all worth it.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Nice room. TV leaves a bit to be desired with no access to guide or info. Also volume was intermittent with fluctuation from where set to audible and then to too loud to barely audible. Really? How does this happen in the same channel?
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Unique rooms, great location
- 3/5
I booked a stay at the Warwick Allerton to treat my daughter for her birthday. When I made the reservation, I reached out to the hotel to see if there’s any type of birthday welcome available for my daughter. I suggested if they could decorate the room if possible, but was told that’s not something that they normally do. However, I was offered an upgraded room which I was told would be allocated for us. Upon arrival, we were a bit early to check in, so we asked the front desk if anything was ready and we were told no not at the moment but to come back closer to check in time which is 4 PM. When we came back closer to 4 PM Wayne, at the front desk checked to see if the upgraded suite was ready and was told that housekeeping has not gotten to the suite and that it would not be ready until 5:30 PM. I asked if there was anything he could do to get us in a little bit sooner because we had dinner reservations and we needed to get in to get ready and was told there was nothing he can do besides get us in the original room that was booked. At that moment, I didn’t feel like a valued guest or that our promised room was a priority, therefore making me feel like I was not a priority. Honestly, that’s the first time I’ve ever felt that way at any hotel that I’ve ever checked in, and don’t ever want to feel like that way again. Next time I’m in Chicago. I’ll definitely be looking at different hotels to stay in.
- 5/5
Very nice receptionist, don’t know her name 12-20-2025
- 5/5
Great place, best location, and the price at the time I stayed was amazing!
- 5/5
The staff was very courteous. The hotel was very clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Great rooms and employees
- 5/5
Room and staff were great
- 3/5
They have a shampoo dispenser no.conditioner. 1 little bar of soap at sink and thats about it for vanity amenities Had a small fridge which was unexpected. A lockbox but the # pad was glitchy, only a few of #'s would engage Great location though. Beds weren't amazing. For the price $308 orbitz for 3 nights it was fine.

Room had bed bugs and didn’t receive a refund for it
- 3/5
Rooms are too small
- 5/5
Helpful front desk, free bottled water, clean room and comfortable bed! Amazing stay on Michigan Avenue!
- 5/5
Stayed over night and everything was good.

Yes
- 5/5
Checked in an hour early - room was clean.
- 5/5
Friendly front desk and good housekeeping staff
- 5/5
Room was great as always, and so walkable to everything, and amazing views. Love this hotel, Ive stayed here many times, and it always has a special place in my memories of Chicago.
- 5/5
AMAZING!! Clean room and helpful staff!! Will be staying here agian
- 5/5
I visit the city to see and do things, so the Warwick/Allerton is perfectly situated. It’s reasonably priced and close enough to everything that you have plenty of choices to spend your time and leisure.
- 5/5
We loved the location - and the smell of the common areas!
- 5/5
Everything
- 5/5
Great staff
- 4/5
But I am surprised by $25 mandatory fee for internet, fitness centers etc access though I don’t need them.
- 5/5
Easy check in and a nice room.
- 3/5
Hvac system is WAY too loud. Walls are thin.
- 3/5
clean, standard rooms. Nothing special, but nothing bad either
- 4/5
Good stay for a quick trip. Room was clean and staff was courteous. However, the walls are so thin. If you have a connecting room you can hear everything happening in the other room.
- 5/5
Enjoyed this hotel stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful located in the heart of Chicago of Michigan Ave., easy to get to and had a wonderful trip.
- 1/5
I was injured by the glass shower door when it fell on me. I wasn't offered any consultations and the hotel would not give me a printed copy and has not emailed the incident report or provide me the insurance provider.
- 5/5
Proximity to shopping restaurants and transportation were all phenomenal.
- 3/5
Need a renovation. The carpets on the hall's are old and dirty.
- 3/5
The extra $24/ night needs to be posted on Expedia. I get paying for it, but didn't know about it until I arrived. I didn't even use the gym and the wi-fi was slow. so basically i paid $48 for 4 bottles of cheap water. At least give us high end water.
- 5/5
Easy to check in. Great room with window looking down on Magnificent Mile
- 5/5
Spotless room.
- 4/5
Great location and service was excellent. Hotel is old school but very interesting.
- 2/5
Bathroom was not very clean. They knocked on our door five times in the morning while we were sleeping for housekeeping. Don’t know why they did that
- 5/5
Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable room.
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 4/5
The elevators are very tiny …very old….but everything else was great
- 5/5
Awesome , spotless
- 5/5
Very clean room. Was treated with kindness and the property was so close to everything! Alicia at the front desk was very helpful and we really appreciate her helping us with our room
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
The room was clean and so nice !! The staff went above and beyond, one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time !!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
The views were amazing! The bathroom was incredibly spacious and hotel staff were incredibly inviting.
- 5/5
Amazing! Great location and clean
- 5/5
Great staff, rooms, and views
- 4/5
Bed was very comfortable lobby was very nice I didn’t eat there staff pleasant elevator very small but nice good location
- 5/5
The staff was more than courteous; especially the housekeeping supervisor who directed me to the hotel when I got lost in the area after not having visited the Gold Coast in several years. The room was lovely and clean.
- 4/5
Awkward bathroom but was fine for what it was.
- 5/5
yes
- 5/5
First time staying here and I will make this my go to hotel when in Chicago.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel!
- 4/5
Room was good and staff was responsive. There was one elevator apparently out of service throughout my stay but no signage indicating so.
- 3/5
What breakfast
- 4/5
Great location! Only a few minutes from the riverwalk (and the architectural boat tours along the river). There's plenty of shopping and the hotel is very well connected with buses and trains not too far. Millennium Park and several museums are within a 15 min walk.
- 5/5
The room was clean, we got an unexpected upgrade, which was lovely.
- 4/5
Parking was cumbersome and expensive. Check-in desk on 2nd floor was cumbersome. Hotel and room was very nice.
- 4/5
Good stay. Needed to ask for luggage holder twice before it was delivered. Bathroom sink upon arrival was not spotless but every day after that, housekeeping was spot on.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in amazing location. Room was comfy and clean. Enjoyed the live music during happy hour. Just wish I could turn the room AC down a bit as I run hot. Overall, great hotel.
- 5/5
Check in was above and beyond great!!
- 4/5
The property was super convenient and great value. If you don’t need bells and whistles, this place is the perfect location. The only thing I would say is that the elevator is really slow. And every time the elevator door open, it was full of people. Just be patient and you will be fine.
- 3/5
Bed was extremely uncomfortable
- 3/5
The room was cold and there was no heat. The paint was chipping inside the room and the elevators were small with long waits going up or down. They need some work.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very well situated near restaurants shopping and mass transit
- 5/5
Good stay
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
The room was spacious and the staff were all very kind. I was able to check in almost three hours ahead of the time I had seen online; which I was very thankful for.
- 5/5
staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Lovely staff and service , room was gorgeous and continently located:)
- 4/5
Great location but needing some updates.
- 4/5
The room, staff and location is excellent
- 5/5
Great place for the price
- 5/5
The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The room was perfect- a great spot in a terrific location!
- 5/5
Great location and great value for money. Clean and tidy room.
- 5/5
Great hotel and wonderful staff
- 5/5
Especially Alicia....she is the best!!
- 4/5
Wi-fi was HORRIBLE! Even when I paid the $21 extra for extra speed and bandwith.
- 3/5
No evening bar or restaurant on certain days, including day I was there
- 4/5
everydatowels
- 5/5
Everything was nice and seamless!
- 4/5
It was perfect location and relatively clean
- 5/5
10/10 experience!
- 4/5
Great location, nice staff, pretty well stacked gym. Housekeeping daily without having to ask.
- 5/5
Very friendly Staff and clean room!
- 5/5
Had a great stay
- 1/5
2. No one helped with the door while I carried all the bags 3. Seems like all the staff intentionally ignored me 4. I arrive @1:30pm and was charged $30 for early check in despite the room was ready - not sure if this is common, but I’ve never experienced this. 5. I will not be back at this property again
- 5/5
Room was great. Their service also great. Very nice location. Everything in walking distance. I could see the sears tower and Starbucks Reserve Roastery from my room. Love the place.
- 5/5
T
- 4/5
Room very nice and clean but hot. Had to open the window even with ac set to 66
- 5/5
Clean rooms, pleasant staff and an overall great deal for the price.
- 5/5
Great bar staff
- 5/5
Great hotel & service!
- 5/5
Computers need updates. Staff great.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the music in the bar area on Friday night.
- 5/5
Liked the convenient location and reasonable cost of this historic hotel. Five elevators meant never a long wait to come and go. Housekeeping service was great as well. Very safe area even when coming in late in the evening.
- 5/5
This was a great downtown hotel, easy to access the Harry Potter store, restaurant choices, and Starbucks Roastery.
- 5/5
Staff was great, son and I were staying for children’s hospital visit. Only ask would be for better rates for over night parking for these occasions.
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff, easy check in & out process
- 5/5
I loved that building and location. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
It was a nice property. It's a bit older maybe outdated but you can tell they take care of it. The staff was amazing. They definitely need another valet, only having one person to work at a time is crazy.
- 4/5
When we got there the first night this is systems were down. The man who escorted us to a room was extremely friendly and helpful. By the time we got back to her room later that evening the system was up and running and we were able to get our hotel key cards. My only issue as I was a little disappointed in the room. It was a little smaller than what the pictures make it look like. And the carpets we're dingy and stained. I would stay again as long as the carpets are cleaned
- 4/5
Noise consultation and facility is kinda outdated, other than that, decent hotel for it's decent price.
- 5/5
Coming back again
- 4/5
This was a great place to say. The room was spacious, nice, and clean. There was both hotel valet parking and valet parking next door. The hotel was conveniently located for shopping along Michigan avenue, small restaurants on side streets, and a Starbucks. Since the area included Northwestern University and hospitals, it was safe. I hope to stay at Warwick Allerton again.
- 2/5
No restaurant. Very limited food options. Great staff, very helpful, clean.
- 5/5
Great location. Excellent staff. Great prices for the area and in comparison with nearby competitors hotels
- 4/5
Everything went well, except for housekeeping missing our room for one day. Having Ms. Vanessa at the front desk is very positive for the hotel, she understands what customer service means!
- 5/5
A good value given the excellent location. Clean, safe, and comfortable sleeping. Rooms were small, and the lack of counter space in the bathroom was annoying. Parking ($72/ day) changes the value equation, but was consistent with other nearby hotels. Prices in small cafe were excessive ($6 for a bottle of water).
- 5/5
We loved staying at this hotel, has historic charm and great location.
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable.
- 5/5
We came in town for Cub games and had a great experience! The Red Line was a few blocks away with shopping and dinning everywhere!
- 5/5
The property was very welcoming. Amazing history
- 5/5
Lots of shopping and dining nearby. Able to walk all up and down the magnificent mile.
- 4/5
Great location, rooms were kinda dirty and dated. For the price, wasn’t a bad option. Wouldn’t pay more than $150/night here
- 2/5
This hotel is a dump. Can't believe it's rated as "very good" by hotels.com. Hasn't been renovated in decades, which you can tell by the rundown carpet, walls, fixtures, etc. and the odor. Despite this, they have the nerve to charge a "resort fee"?!? Get the heck out of here! Service was also cold and discourteous.
- 4/5
yes
- 4/5
Cute hotel in the heart of Chicago.
- 1/5
Everything about this hotel was great except our room, as were placed in a room that had a massive gap in between the door and the frame that you could almost see right through into the room, we were just outside of an elevator so all night and morning we could hear people talking like they were right in the room next to us, made for a terrible experience
- 4/5
Front desk a bit reserved. Amazing location. The hotel had a beautiful interior, nice bar and plenty of seating. Our room was great except for the noise. Sirens off and on all nights.
- 5/5
The Allerton..Superb!!!!
- 5/5
The area was amazing
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
It was a great place to stay in CHI!
- 5/5
Clean room at a fair price in an excellent location.
- 2/5
The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold, there were stains dripping down the bedroom wall, and stains all over the carpet. We woke up to a large bug in our room one morning. Another morning we were awoken at 8 am by sawing and hammering. When we asked about it we were told they were doing plumbing repairs. 8 am was a little early for that (especially since it was 6 am for us having just come from the west coast). The ice machine was out of order and we had to go up 4 floors to find one that worked. Even then, the ice came with flakes of mold. I understand that it is an older building but the hotel rooms are in need of renovating and a deep clean.
- 5/5
My favorite hotel in the Windy! What’s not to like?
- 5/5
Everything is good just the staffs need to be more friendly and smile coz there were just one guy only who is at the entrance , i forgot his name . he was VERY friendly
- 4/5
good
- 5/5
The lodging was super nice.
- 4/5
Great hotel in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. Really comfortable and relaxed stay. Everything is in walking distance.
- 4/5
Pretty cool place. Convenient. No negatives,
- 5/5
Everything was great. It was awesome being back in Chicago again.
- 4/5
Good location. It definitely was weird how you have to go up a floor to check in.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Very comfortable and spacious
- 4/5
Greeter was wonderful. Check-in person not very attentive. Bed very comfortable. Chairs in room uncomfortable. Bathroom tiny.
- 5/5
Overall, an exceptioal stay all around.
- 4/5
The clean room, however, is too small for the family, and there isn't much light in it. In particular, a very good location to explore the city and the surrounding lots of options for shopping and dining.
- 4/5
The Warwick Allerton is a beautiful hotel with nicely appointed rooms. I was disappointed in the breakfast and coffee options but with Starbuck close by, was able to remedy that quickly.
- 5/5
I love the nastalgia of this famous Hotel, i would love to visit once a month for business.
- 4/5
Areas of improvement include better staff training in answering outside calls into the hotel in a timely manner (not letting the phone ring for minutes); problem-solving (e.g. when told the water cooler in the fitness room is empty, not telling the guest there is water at the front desk); and, updating the machines in the fitness room. Otherwise, its a beautiful hotel with nice people and a good location.
- 3/5
Really nice front desk staff who are trying hard. My first room reeked of old cigarette smoke, and the staff moved me to another with no question. Second room smelled a little better, but the bathroom needed some attention. Whiskers from a shave in the sink, old dental floss on the floor. I was tired and didn't feel like moving again, so I just cleaned up and washed my hands. It's not a big deal. But the place needs some attention. Great location, reasonable price, and very nice desk people.
- 5/5
My teen had to fly alone to Chicago and this hotel was so gracious to her!
- 5/5
Vanessa, the night manager, was exceptionally helpful!
- 5/5
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. We got a great room upgrade abd thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was in a great location and would definately go back.
- 5/5
We chose this hotel due to location, and previous stays there.
- 5/5
Great stay would highly recommend. The property is on tge Mile so you're right where you need to be for almost everything. There's a CTA bus stop and the Red line is a short walk , to get to other city sites. Marcus & Joshua always greeted us asking what we had done that day. Marcus has great energy and always has the biggest smile.
- 4/5
AC was not great at cooling
- 5/5
someone smoked as the mattress smelled of smoke. luggage rack is broken
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff.
- 4/5
We have stayed here several times. It’s a reasonably priced hotel that’s close to all the action - shopping, dining and tours. Can’t go wrong with this hotel!
- 3/5
Its a older hotel. Location is great.
- 5/5
Nice and clean hotel.
- 4/5
Room was clean and bed made up each day.
- 5/5
Excellent location. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The room was very small, but we knew that when we booked.

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times before, but this time, I wasn’t impressed with the room. It was quite small and didn’t appear as clean as before. I hope this doesn’t happen again.

It was super clean and lovely.
- 5/5
It was convenient for us.
- 4/5
I liked that it was close to everything downtown, and had a friendly staff!

Simple room

The Air conditioning was quite noisy in the room which only had one chair. I’ve stayed in better 3 star hotels.

The Allerton is a charning hotel in the center of the Magnificent Mile. An easy walk to the best of Chicago. Beautiful room, modern and very clean
- 4/5
Would stay again
- 4/5
Cafe was convenient
- 4/5
Did not appreciate the 25 dollar per day charge. Expedia quotes all fees and taxes paid. 25 dollars for what? No pool. No free breakfast. Spotty WiFi.
- 5/5
Great spot with friendly staff and an incredible location

The beds were uncomfortable and air

Great location and well-maintained property, highly recommend to business travellers.
- 4/5
Didn’t like the price of the room and cost of parking. Night traffic (sirens)very loud
- 4/5
Staff was kind. Property was clean!
- 4/5
Great central and convenient location. Our room had no view and was unusually oriented. The room’s condition was also somewhat older but clean. Lounge/lobby was nice. Undoubtably there are likely better accommodations at this hotel than we got. Still enjoyed my stay!

Warwick Allerton is in a fantastic location. We had a family member at Northwestern Hospital Galter Pavillion. We walked to and from there. Lots of dining options right out your door. Michigan avenue right around the corner. Door dash deliveries went smoothly.

Room was small and behind an elevator. Bed was so firm I did not sleep the whole time I was there

I love the location and I got a great deal. It's not the most updated inside their rooms, but it was not a deal breaker either. I wished their bar was open during the week though.

Loved it
- 4/5
the rooms are clean , updated , but a little small- we were told we could store our bags before check in but there was no one on the 1st floor to take the stored bags . there were 4 groups of people waiting over 15 minutes and still noone was there so we paid the 30 dollar early check in fee so we didnt miss the Cubs game
- 4/5
Close to a lot of things in the city
- 5/5
Great location....so close to everything.
- 1/5
Yea the room was clean but I woke up to half dead bugs on the window seal. And also I feel they should let you know that you will not get a city view in all rooms it’s false advertising and wrong to have people pay to look at a brick wall
- 5/5
Very convenient location! Right next to everything you want to be by when visiting Chicago. The hotel was clean and the staff was all incredibly kind!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Can’t beat the location, very close to trains, and walking distance to the pier. Room could’ve been bigger but given cost, it was not bad. Overall I would stay here again.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the room service.
- 5/5
They are amazing.
- 3/5
The man at the reception desk was extremely rude. The rooms and bathrooms were outdated and lacked smart TVs. To top it off, there were $25 daily amenity fees charged on top of the room cost, which was ridiculous.
- 5/5
Excellent location on Magnificent Mile. Friendly staff. Well kept and clean. Room was a little smaller than most and view was of hotel machinery, but would stay there again for the convenience.
- 4/5
Room was clean. It was small but enough for two people. Great location to walk the magnificent mile and to navy pier. You can hear the bustle of the streets but adds to the charm of staying off Michigan Ave.
- 5/5
I gave this a 5 star purely on location. It’s fantastic at the best price point in the area. The hotel is definitely older and a little run down. Not a 5 star for the inside but the staff was excellent and you can’t beat location.
- 5/5
Great hotel for the price and the location is perfect. Older building but most rooms are a good size and always clean. Employees are very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
The elevators are slow. Our first assigned room was very worn. The floor reeked of marijuana and the hallway wallpaper was peeling or had been peeled from the walls. Night staff was wonderful. He located another room for us that had a great view of Michigan Avenue and was well- maintained. shStarbuck'sRofirn.

Good stay i liked it

The only thing going for the Warwick Hotel is its prime location just off Michigan Avenue. Beyond that, my experience left a lot to be desired.
- 5/5
11/10 nice for the one night we stayed
- 5/5
The reservation was mad just the day before when we decided to spend the night in Chicago for my granddaughter's first Kids Chicago Triathlon instead up getting hours earlier to make her checkin time. At hotel checkin Cesar was able to get us rooms close together as adjoining was not available. We all got up early and got bottles of water from the front desk as we left the hotel. We were given an extra hour to checkout. That was fantastic as we were scrambling after the end of the race.
- 5/5
Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The property has charm while being updated and clean. The location is unbeatable. It’ll be my first choice on future trips to Chicago.

While booking a king room, I was swayed to purchase the “upgrade” to an executive king because the pictures on the website showed a spacious room with a living area, king bed, and a promise of a Michigan Avenue view. At check-in, the front desk clerk seemed like he was in training. The service was clumsy and we were not offered a bottle of water, list of amenities, or a porter to take our luggage. When we entered our room, we were immediately underwhelmed. While it was on a high floor with a great view, the room was much smaller than it appeared in the pictures and it had a queen bed crammed between the wall and the window, cutting the narrow room in half. I returned to the lobby to explain that I had reserved a king room, not a queen. The front desk clerk insisted that we had been given the correct room, even when I showed him pictures to the contrary. A senior manager stepped in and told us we would be “upgraded” to a different room with a king bed. They asked us move our own luggage from our initial room on an upper floor down to the 6th floor. The new room was bigger and had a king bed, however, it was an interior facing room with views of the fire escape, a brick wall, and an alley full of dumpsters. This was not an “upgrade” considering I paid extra for an executive king room with a Michigan Avenue view. We killed one cockroach and listened to our neighbor snore loudly through the thin wall. We were treated rudely by the bellman when we asked to store our luggage.

I enjoyed my one night stay at this hotel. The room was nice and as advertised. The highlight of it was the location it was in - Magnificent Mile is great, and perfect for shopping and just walking around.

Wonderful, I’ll be happy to come back

Tremendous value for the money

Awesome stay. Will revisit

Excellent location
- 3/5
Area is excellent. Service is decent, the main issues I had were with the room. No natural light, amenities extremely limited.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel within walking distance of very many places of interest, clean, comfortable beds. The only problem we had was that our a/c was not working properly, they sent the maintenance guy to come and fix it, he said he fixed it but it still wasn’t working, they sent someone again while we were out exploring and said it was fixed again but it just didnt cool as great as we had hoped. Room 2021. Other than that little hiccup it was a wonderful hotel and we would definitely stay there again in the future
- 5/5
Loved everything about. Great staff. Need a pool
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 3/5
Location is good. The double rooms are too tight, not recommendable for families with kids. No space for luggage, fridge capacity can fit 8- 16oz bottle water. For the price, not worth it.
- 5/5
Perfect location, and the property itself was so historic and well kept. The room was a little small and the AC wasn’t as strong as I would have liked. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.

Great

Also please fit the elevators, over the last 4 years we have stayed here and they are getting worse and worse.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent! My only complaint was the elevator wait times. One elevator wasnt even running. Besides that it was a very nice stay. We will definitely be back
- 5/5
Warwick Allerton is always our go to for Chicago. It’s a beautiful historic hotel. Basic amenities but that’s all we need. Can’t beat the location. Close to shopping, public transportation, the river, and parks. Will always stay there.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful, solid, classic hotel. Everything is just right - not too much and not too little. Coffee was drip, ceilings are coffered. I don’t want fancy machines that don’t work, nor thin walls and boring architecture; the Warwick is perfectly classy. And very good service.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location. We loved staying there. The room is large, and the people working there are very friendly.
- 4/5
Good place, extraordinary price.
- 3/5
Property appears much grander online. Its glory days are behind her. Rooms and general decor are pretty dated.
- 5/5
One note for light sleepers. This hotel is in the hospital district with Lurie Children's and Northwestern Medical nearby among others. You will hear ambulances regularly.
- 1/5
Air conditioner was broken, blankets feel like paper, small rooms, broken elevators, not a great stay.
- 5/5
Room was small but very clean and great location on Michigan.
- 5/5
Classically beautiful building & room. Staff were friendly and wonderful with check-in, check-out, and whenever we were entering & leaving.
- 4/5
The ONLY issue is that the rooms are super small!! It was literally smaller than my bedroom at home. However, the location is amazing and very walkable and convenient if you wanna do fun touristy stuff.

Bed very comfortable room cozy, very clean

The hotel itself is clean and generally well-maintained, though it is in a very old building, so the decor and room furnishings feel somewhat dated and worn. That said, everything was tidy during my stay. One early morning, I did spot a roach in the bathroom, which I reported to the front desk—they handled it professionally and offered to switch my room right away. The staff and front desk service were professional and courteous. I wouldn’t call the hospitality five-star, but it was more than adequate for a comfortable stay. There’s a café on the same level as the front desk that serves basic items like coffee and bagels. It’s a bit pricey, but convenient if you want to grab something quickly while planning your day. Overall, I’d say this hotel is a great choice if you prioritize location and accessibility. Just be aware that it’s an older property and not the most luxurious—but it gets the job done.
- 5/5
Great location!! Will definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Room was right in front of the elevator . could hear it people in front of my door all night long.
- 3/5
Was "upgraded" from two queens to a king and a pull out sofa. Had to all four sheets for the pull out sofa twice. The new room was so cramped you had to shuffle sideways to get around. The bathroom was so small my knees and head hit the wall across from the toilet when I'd be in there (I'm 5'5" not a tall person) there v was zero counter space in bathroom. The staff was all very friendly however.
- 5/5
This is a great place to stay, especially being directly on Michigan Ave.

Older hotel. It was ok.
