Reviews
The hotel received mixed reviews with guests appreciating the convenient location and friendly staff, but expressing disappointment with the cleanliness, maintenance, and breakfast services. Many guests had issues with the elevators, parking, and room amenities.
- Convenient location
- Friendly staff
- Cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Poor breakfast services
- 2.5/5
Room needed better lighting. SHower needed safety devices (e.g., grab bars)
- 2/5
The location being so close to downtown and walking distance of everything. The pool was under construction and that wasn’t noted when booking. Cleaning services came every other day that also wasn’t noted when booking. I had issues with the valet parking and ended up being over charged for parking by $300 which is crazy. I also was charged a random $224 that the front desk lady had no idea where that charge came from. We found a bug on the bed and took a picture of it and showed the staff and was told it was just a hotel bug not a bed bug or a cockroach and told us not to worry about it. I’m not sure what a hotel bug is?
- 2/5
Not a clean facility. Room AC inadequate. Hotel advertised as having streaming TV. Not true. Hotel charges a premium rate due to its location. Not even remotely close to Hampton Inn standards that I've experienced previously.
- 4/5
Location was great for going to the hospital. Breakfast was good . Room was to close to the elevator so you could hear often sounded like you were by a busy highway. Also, the mattress was to soft.
- 4/5
The pool was not open, the reason why we chose this hotel.
- 3/5
Positives: breakfast is included, lots of food options. Location is great, in the middle of everything. Great views of downtown from your room. Seemed clean and bed was comfortable enough.
- 4.5/5
Maintenance of the room was fine since everything (plugs, ligths, safebox) worked. The beds are comfortable for seeping well. There are places to visit within walking distance. Breakfast is fine and have coffe all day. I have stayed there three times in the last two years, so I think I do not have important dislikes, otherwise, certainly I would remember them. Although the hotel is not cheap, I have found it appropiate.
- 2/5
Elevated takes ever . We had to walk down the stairs with our suitcases from floor 14th after waiting for the elevator 20 minutes
- 3/5
Parking was really expensive, which is to be expected in Chicago, but I had to wait well over 30 minutes for the valet to park my car. When trying to check out, the elevator would not stop on our floor so we had to hike down 14 flights of stairs.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
This room was very nice and convenient to all of downtown. Checkin was easy. The $75 valet is a little crazy!
- 3/5
The breakfast was hot and tasted fine. I liked the location but we will not be coming back.
- 5/5
The staff is tops!
- 5/5
How fortunate we got a room on 37th floor. What a view. Hotel was close to most of the sites we wanted to see in Chicago
- 2.5/5
Staff and location were great. Entire hotel needs a refresh. Air didn’t work well, felt humid in room. Room, bathing, carpets etc all needed refreshed.

- 5/5
The rooms were very clean, the free breakfast was good and the lounge area in the mezzanine was more than adequate.
- 4/5
Room was hot
- 3.5/5
Close to Northwestern. Great staff. The heater didn’t work. The TV reception wasn’t very good.

Would book again! Everything was clean and put together with attentive staff. The breakfast also exceeded our expectations. With such a great location and 5 star service I highly recommend staying there.
- 1/5
Room smelled so bad and didn’t have any amenities available

Price was cheap I never got my deposit back

Good place to stay at reasonable rate. The hotel stall was outstanding!
- 4/5
The location is perfect!!!! It's a quick walk to various restaurants and shops.

- 2/5
The room was a little dim in terms of light, but our request was accommodated for extra light to be added in the room. The room was very beautiful overall. The service was terrible as I asked for shampoo and body wash they came after an hour handed it to me and left once without putting it in the washroom. The guy was rude as well, if the person is frustrated on this work then probably they should have filled these things beforehand. Free breakfast isn't worth it since they'll give you almost same breakfast every day. But you'll get refregerator and all in the room, and you might get good view from the room.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great. Staff very helpful both at the front desk and in the breakfast area. Next door parking was great. Car was locked in during the weekend.
- 5/5
Staff were very welcoming and helpful The price was comparatively reasonable I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others
- 5/5
Very Nice stay with amazing breakfast!
- 2/5
During our stay, we arrived to find only a few sheets of toilet tissue in the bathroom. Despite contacting the front desk immediately and following up again the next morning, the issue was never addressed. We eventually had to order a delivery via DoorDash just to obtain basic necessities. This was a disappointing experience that fell well below the Hilton standard I have come to expect.
- 5/5
Great staff and set up
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 3/5
Parking was expensive and breakfast was ok. Would be nice to have more options each day. The bed in our room was horrible. The mattress was way to hard.
- 4/5
Fresh breakfast
- 3/5
Breakfast was of excellent quality. In my initial request 8 asked for top floor rooms with a view. When I reached Hampton Inn I was told already assigned a room which had no view to look at. It was a backyard. However, with all kinds of excuses told that next day we will transfer you to another room, which never happened.
- 5/5
It was easy to get to everything.
- 5/5
Parking was valet and very easy. It is so close to Northwestern Hospital.
- 3/5
The stay was okay. I called the front desk for several items I needed never answered the phone. Next day mentioned what I needed and never received them. Ac kept turning on cold air after I put heat. So I just turned it off. Breakfast was great! Great location. Little older hotel.
- 4/5
Need to offer vegan
- 5/5

- 5/5

- 5/5
I enjoyed the kindness of the staff and the breakfast
- 5/5
Clean room, great customer service, breakfast options for everyone, great location for dining and shopping
- 5/5
Our 4 night stay met and at times exceeded expectations! Good job Hampton Inn Staff!
- 1/5
Air broke nobody could repair; hot could not sleep wouldn’t switch the rooms terrible experience all around. Made our trip miserable
- 4/5
Location wa perfect for shopping and sightseeing. East wallk to Navy Pier. The breakfast was awesome and staff were very friendly.
- 4/5
The room was clean and spacious, staff was helpful and friendly. Would be 5 stars but the first day or two it took 20 minutes to get an elevator I ended up walking up and down 23 flights of stairs
- 5/5
The room and bathroom were very clean. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They always hailed a cab for us. Breakfast was good. However, some of the sausage that they served was quite spicy. Would never sit well with children.
- 5/5
Lynette a staff member/greeter was very nice. Great customer service. Always saying hello in the lobby and if we needed anything! Great asset as well as the other staff!! Buffet was good as well, variety of cereals, waffles eggs oatmeal, meat…great area too. Would recommend and go back and stay again !!
- 5/5
Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was decent. Staff were excellent. The location was fantasic, easy access to the Mile.
- 5/5
No pool even though it says there is.
- 1/5
Rooms clean breakfast good staff good bad review because hot water and heat was out our whole stay
- 5/5
Clean room and good breakfast
- 2/5
Boiler was out leaving us without hot water. Prepaying for our stay through Expedia meant we couldn’t be reimbursed for our stay. Parking was comped, but two days without a hot shower was a major disappointment.
- 3/5
Breakfast staffer Damiyn was AMAZING, however the hotel was without heat and hot water for multiple days during our stay
- 1/5
He had no hot water. We called to notify and the staff said they had someone in site and that it would be fixed by tomorrow morning but it was not. I checkout at 11a and still no hot water.
- 1/5
NO HOT WATER! Elevators take 1 hour
- 1/5
there was no hot water anywhere in the hotel and we could not bathe
- 2/5
There was not hot water
- 5/5
Great staff, great location for shopping and eating.
- 5/5
The room was big and clean but issue with water temp
- 3/5
Room clean and spacious. Room was not ready until almost 2 hours after check in time. Bathroom toilet leaked water out of the back when flushing. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast food.
- 5/5
Great time. Friendly staff and helpful. Clean room and the front desk gave me extra pillows!
- 5/5
Perfect location. Valet parking very convenient. Would stay here again
- 3/5
Hotel was ok. For the price i would stay elsewhere. Older, smelled weed in areas, valet was slow.
- 4/5
The concierge staff was AMAZING! Valet parking was excellent and location was perfect for restaurants
- 5/5
The hotel staffs are really nice! The location is great
- 5/5
Internet was good. It was roght across from the hospital.
- 4/5
Everything about this plàce was excellent, especially the staff. Very professional and helpful.
- 5/5
The stay was wonderful.
- 5/5
Breakfast was not good! We enjoyed our stay the hotel was in the heart of downtown easy to get to shopping centers, restaurants and water activities. The room was clean, friendly staff and family friendly.
- 5/5
Clean room great location
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Great location! It’s feet away from Michigan Ave. It’s walking distance to the Starbucks Reserve. My kids liked the waffles served at breakfast.
- 4/5
real nice place. great location
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.
- 4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel! It was in a perfect location to plenty of stores, restaurants, and entertainment! The staff was very courteous and friendly and went the extra mile to make sure that I was satisfied with my stay. I would love to come back again soon! 😊
- 2/5
Oh, how wrong I was. For the duration of our time there, 2 of the 3 elevators were out, so ANYtime we wanted to go anywhere it was a 20-minute wait for the elevator or walking 21 flights of stairs. We were never actually informed of the issue by hotel staff, so the first night I actually missed a reservation because I waited for an elevator for 27 minutes before giving up and going back to my room, because I didn't want to risk going down the stairs and not being able to take the elevator back up. Now, I understand that things break down and sometimes there is no control over that, but what upset me was the staff's response to the situation. When I first called down to report the issue, and anytime I asked about it the rest of the weekend, I was met with very apathetic, unsympathetic, almost annoyed response from the staff. This really did have a negative impact on our trip and did effect some of our plans, and I would be more understanding about it, had the staff been more apologetic or solution-oriented about the whole situation.
- 5/5
nice hotel
- 4/5
Very easy to access everything. Close to shops and a great walk to the river and other historic areas. No gluten-free options at breakfast other than oatmeal. That was my one complaint.
- 5/5
We stayed here before a few weeks ago and came back this week !! Lynette at door remembered us and she was excellent in guiding us to a few things!! Everyone so friendly and polite!!
- 5/5
Everything is quite close
- 5/5
The hotel’s location is excellent and highly convenient for travelers. The staff demonstrated professionalism and ensured a positive experience throughout my stay. However, the elevator system presented an inconvenience, as the elevators were intermittently malfunctioning and occasionally getting stuck. This was the sole downside to an otherwise enjoyable visit. Despite this issue, I would confidently choose to stay at this hotel again, as the overall service and amenities outweighed the drawback, and I am optimistic about improvements in the future.
- 5/5
The hotel was good. Confusing at first because the hotel doesn’t come with their own parking spot. You have to pay parking separately. But other than my stay in was nice.
- 2/5
In this 40 floor hotel, only 1 of the 3 very small elevators was functioning. After waiting 20 mins for an available elevator, we ended up walking 18 flights of stairs with our luggage. We had to take 18 flights of stairs multiple times during our stay. The onsite parking is $70 per night + valet tip. Any money you think you are saving in this hotel is eaten up in parking fees. I would never stay at this hotel again.
- 4/5
Clean room, clean bathroom. Great room services. Chaimbermaid folded my pajamas!
- 4/5
Excellent location
- 3/5
Reception was under staff and one attendee was taking all the hosts coming in for check in at 4pm. Very unprofessional for one hard worker to service many impatient, tired customers who just want an easy check in.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and nice and staff are very friendly
- 1/5
Room was dirty, carpet was old and raggedy. They had no hot water in the entire hotel. Staff could have cared less. No signs says anything about water issue.
- 5/5
Spotless room. Great staff.
- 1/5
Room was dirty. No hot water in hotel. Front desk staff didn’t tell us that when we checked in. No signs anyways saying not hot water was available. I went down to the front desk and told them and the lady said yes we don’t have any hot water.
- 4/5
Our room was clean and the staff were quite friendly. We discovered the first morning of our stay that our shower wasn’t working properly. A repairman was sent to our room right away and though he fixed the problem, he left behind a quite dirty space. The second mowing of our stay the whole hotel had no hot water, so we didn’t get to use the shower anyway!
- 2/5
Shady front desk ladies. Had to take the stairs fromt the 17th floor.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel, safe, perfect location, room was HUGE! Clean and great customer service!
- 5/5
Everything was great. Could maybe prepare humidifiers in the winter as it gets super dry in the winter.
- 4/5
They upgraded my room. It was a good experience. Love it. Windows need to be clean from outside. But was good
- 4/5
Yes the room was spacious very clean
- 5/5
I loved staying at hamptom Inn. The hotel was unbreakable and the breakfast gives it a plus. I loved the views from my room. Without a doubt, I would stay there again
- 5/5
The room was spotless, offer free and very comfortable.
- 3/5
Room was in decent condition. Tub water was slow to drain. Refrigerator wasn’t staying cold. Only 1 elevator was working over the weekend .
- 3/5
Elevator is horrible. Had to wait more than 10 mins for the elevators
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room. Amenities in the bathroom and staff was nice and helpful.
- 4/5
I love this hotel and have been staying there every December. The room was very drafty and breakfast quality seems to be diminishing. No complaints otherwise. Location is great and staff is friendly.
- 5/5
Great hotel,, like so much
- 2/5
Badly needs an upgrade. Sketchy elevators.
- 3/5
The breakfast is not open long enough to enjoy it. They charged me twice for parking for a one night stay
- 5/5
Staff are very nice, helpful and friendly. Although does not look like brand new, the room is still functioning very well and comfortable. Breakfast is great
- 5/5
The room was in good condition for being an older hotel. I LOVE this place. the Breakfast is great the staff is great. If you have kids, this hotel is Directly across the street from the Harry Potter store in Chicago.
- 3/5
Bathroom needs to be upgraded asap!!
- 5/5
Very good nice neighborhood and clean
- 3/5
Towels were not clean enough.
- 5/5
Room was perfect. The staff were the best. I rated the hostess who really helped me with coping with the surgery of my son. The gentleman behind the desk who worked the night shift was so kind, caring and understanding too. His name started with an M. Marcus I think. Everyone else was nice too. I will always stay at your hotel when I have to be close to Northwestern Hospital!!!
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay. Will be back.
- 4/5
Love the location as we go to the North Western Hospital. Breakfast is standard hotel free breakfast. The gentleman at breakfast if friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Limpio
- 3/5
The elevators and main areas were filthy. At breakfast, they were out of milk, water, and coffee. When we asked for more, they were extremely rude and would not provide it. The room was nice and the staff was helpful, though clearly overwhelmed. We checked in and were sent to a room that wasn’t ready. We went back down to the lobby and were never told when it was ready.
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable. Spacious and convenient location with a lot of shopping stores and restaurants around the area. Customer service was great.
- 1/5
The room service was too slow. There was no water in the water dispenser. The windows were leaking. I would not recommend anyone staying here.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Staff was very nice and professional
- 3/5
Booked our stay for 5 nights, when arriving everything went smooth, location is great and staff was very friendly. The next day, we called for a roll of toilet paper as we only had half of a roll in the restroom for 3 people, 5 night stay! That night when we were done exploring we wanted to shower. No shampoo and no body wash. Called down, after I had already attempted to shower, so in towel. Waited 3 hours for soap, shampoo etc. the breakfast was empty of food choices the entire weekend. (This is why I selected this hotel was for breakfast) overall, it was a good place to sleep but the extras were kind of a bummer.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was friendly!
- 5/5
Everything was good! Beyond my expectations everything is so close, walking distance love it!!
- 5/5
Room was perfect, we had a fantastic view of the city.
- 3/5
It was an average stay.
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff
- 3/5
Stay 6 days, only clean twice.
- 4/5
Had trouble keeping toilet paper in our room. Glad there was a tissue box!
- 4/5
The rooms were clean.
- 4/5
Room was clean, water pressure was good, the line for breakfast was so long, many guests (including us) wete unable to eat before the food was put up. The elevators were very slow, but that's to be expected in a large city. The location was great.
- 3/5
Room to be cleaner and in better condition. Bathrooms are damp, paint peeling off, no ventilation. Pillows can be newer and in better shape. Breakfast sraffwerele extremely rude throughout the 7 days we stayed there paying for 3 rooms. No milk. When asked for a yogurt ir milk we were told we can get in the store. Front desk staff most of them were nice.
- 1/5
Very bad customer service and could not accomodate the slightest
- 4/5
My two concerns with this property is that Inhad issues getting into my room 2731, there was a trick with opening the door, housekeeping was able to open the door with no issues, also the 27th floor ice machine seemed like it was turned off. I didn’t repot it, because I noticed it on my last day.
- 5/5
Excellent location, huge rooms! HUGE! Great deal!
- 1/5
The room was fine the amenities no there was no microwave in the room. They also charged 69.00 nightly for valet parking which I never experienced at a hotel where you've already paid to stay and the front desk person said "or you can park somewhere else like at the hospital". I've been back home to Chicago and stayed at other hotels and never paid for parking. Big cities are becoming a rip off taking money anyway they can, this may cause me a not so comfortable stay with expedia hotels but I don't like being ripped off or paying twice to stay at a hotel or even inconvenienced by paying and walking to park my car.
- 1/5
Bad vallet
- 1/5
Dirty hotel, dirty comforter, no water, elevators took forever, didn’t bring new comforter when we asked 2 times
- 5/5
Room was great. Very comfy and spacious. Hotel is close to major tourist area, walking distance to most of them and CTA is across the street. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. Breakfast was great also and a good variety of options and the have hot food which is great to start your day. Will definitely return.
- 4/5
Wonderful location.
- 4/5
Great location. We checked in Thursday and checked out Saturday. The process was very easy. The "market" was out of water by Friday evening and no restock for Saturday morning. Not the most comfortable bed/pillows but not the worst. Overall great stay.
- 1/5
There was a live roach in my room. In the bathroom to be exact next to the toilet. I was terrified all night.
- 2/5
Staff was friendly. Breakfast was free and there was a lot of room to sit, but the only thing that didn’t look like it would give you a GI upset were the waffles. The yogurt was room temperature, eggs and ham were cold. But again, it was free. The absolute worst things about this hotel was the horrible elevator service. We stood on the 14th floor for ~15 minutes before deciding to take the stairs. Our room was very old. Holes in the wall where old pictures were hung with paint missing, my curling iron plug fell out of the outlet while I was using it.. But the bed was clean and comfortable. It was winter when we stayed, so the pool was closed, but it looked like it has been out of commission for years and in dire need of a complete demo. The whole hotel could be gutted and revamped. I would not stay here again, but if you just need a place to sleep in an excellent location, it might be for you!
- 5/5
Great location and nice size room
- 4/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Convenient location to where we were going. Did not like 50 early check in fee for 2pm arrival, but they did hold our luggage until 4
- 5/5
The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating . There is parking in the hotel which is very convenient. Everything we visited was within walking distance. Would stay again.
- 3/5
This was my 3rd year to visit. The room was facing the elevator an it was noisy all time. Also the continental breakfast is way less quality that before and it was kind of strange to the staff to provide bar code for staff tips/donation.
- 4/5
Very happy with my two stays here.
- 5/5
Everything was great except for the breakfast. It is technically food, but . . .. If you lower your expectations before stepping in to the dining room, you will be ok.
- 5/5
Perfect location, spacious very clean room, great staff and wonderful breakfast!! Will definitely stay here again
- 4/5
Bathroom could have been warmer.
- 4/5
Breakfast was mediocre. Last time I stayed it was much better, sausage was inedible.
- 4/5
We had to move to new room because the first room was right next to the elevator, which was making a lot of noise. The new room had trouble with the heater and needed to have an engineer come and fix it. Otherwise, the visit was okay
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Good accommodations. Slightly dated rooms. Great location. Great staff
- 5/5
Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
- 4/5
The location was great. Room was spacious and clean.
- 3/5
Room was great, facility is nice. DO NOT stay here if anything is going on in town. 20min wait for an elevator is common. Checkin was a mess. Parking was flawless.
- 5/5
I did not have breakfast
- 5/5
The room is nice and spacious
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good variety of food at breakfast.
- 4/5
The room was very nice. Breakfast was good with an exceptional attendant who was very attentive and friendly.
- 2/5
The pillows were paper thin, the staff didn’t help with an emergency check out, the parking situation was dumb. I won’t be back.
- 5/5
All perfect
- 4/5
rooms were clean and staff were very friendly
- 2/5
I reserved a room with a king sized bed and sleeper sofa. I was told there were none available at check in and I couldn’t get an upgraded room. Unfortunately, queen sized beds just aren’t long enough as we are both very tall. Disappointing that we weren’t offered any other options when that is what we reserved, to say the least.
- 5/5
Very courteous and helpful staff, from the valet to the busboy at the breakfast bar. Will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Unlabeled breakfast items (meet), ice machine makes horrible noise while people are sleeping, plumbing issue, unventilated bathroom. Could be a lot better if the maintenance was adequate.
- 2/5
Dirty and they don't have swimming pool
- 5/5
Room was clean! Views were great. Walking distance to tourist spots.
- 4/5
Great
- 5/5
location
- 4/5
Nice hotel with clean room in a busy and walkable area. Limited breakfast offerings. Safe and secure.
- 5/5
Nice desk lady
- 4/5
Everything thing was good except $70 bucks a night for Valet...Unreal.
- 4/5
Overall, I found the hotel. Very nice check-in was very easy. The only downfall I had was an unexpected $200 deposit even though I already paid for the hotel weeks in advance, but it was pretty clean. Breakfast was really good. It’s definitely an older building but they keep up with it pretty well. The pool was shut down for maintenance which is fine, It’s October. The fitness center looks nice. I went to Chicago to go to the Harry Potter store and surprisingly I didn’t even check, but it was literally right at the end of the block. There are plenty of amazing food places to eat around there. There’s a chipotle connected to the hotel lobby across the street. There is an amazing Ramen restaurant. Overall, I would’ve given full stars for this hotel but that unexpected $200 was ridiculous. Specially when you have to pay 69 extra dollars per night for parking at the hotel, which I feel is absolutely ridiculous. The hotel should probably have some kind of deal with the parking so we don’t have to pay extra for that if I’m paying $500 plus another $200 for the hotel room. I should not have to pay an extra $69 per night.
- 5/5
Very friendly and clean hotel.
- 5/5
Fun location. Lively but a bit noisy. Fantastic walkability and very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
enjoyed our stay with spacious room and location close to most desired tourist hotspots and Chicago famed highlights.
- 4/5
Everything was walking distance, dining, Navy Yard shopping river walk
- 3/5
Comfortable beds, Room size was awesome, has everything needed. Loud Sirens due to hospital proximity. Elevator shaft noise was too loud overnight. Room temps doesn’t go under 65 ( which felt 72)
- 5/5
Good breakfast spread
- 5/5
Room was clean. location was right in the middle of everything, easy to walk to what we needed, Angela was particularly helpful as well as the valet. It never took longer than 5 minutes to get out vehicle.
- 5/5
Property is right of Michigan Ave. perfect location also our room had an entry door that had a lil hall as you entered so it made it seem bigger for our room. Room was clean you could see buildings outside si it was city view as advertised. Friendly staff overall no problem very clean pool was closed tho only downfall.
- 1/5
My room had no air-conditioning. One staff member was exceptionally rude.
- 3/5
I think the overall property was okay I think for the price the rooms should definitely be larger and more up to date. The parking should be more clear that no matter if you choose the vallet for the hotel or not you’re going to be paying at least $70 a night to park that was a little bit confusing staff was very nice the free breakfast was a nice addition as well
- 5/5
Accessible to every famous spot on Magnificent Mile
- 1/5
Needed to change the date of a 3-night reservation. They levied a “penalty” equal to the entire price I’d already paid for the reservation, doubling the cost of my stay. Customer service could not be more poor—no appreciation for my business, which would’ve been a repeat. (I’d stayed at a Hampton Inn in another city the prior quarter, and gotten 2 more rooms for additional family as well). Why would I ever book with them again?
- 5/5
Very pleased with the room location and view and ease of check in. All staff was very friendly.
- 2/5
I like the convenience to Northwestern Hospital as I am a patient.
- 5/5
Excellent Service. Helpful staff
- 5/5
Every one was very polite and respectful
- 2/5
What was marketed online is not what I saw in person. I was able to get moved to another room, however, the hotel is outdated and there is alot of damaged furniture.
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
All staff friendly and efficient. Room quite spacious and clean. Property just needs some updating!
- 3/5
My room I paid for was not available when checked in.
- 5/5
The bed was comfortable, very clean, staff was polite and professional. Not a huge variety of reasonably priced dinner options in close vicinity but sufficient.
- 5/5
I didn’t like the check in . I had to wait for a while
- 4/5
The best part of this hotel is its location, just a half block off N. Michigan Ave. It is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is being repaired and is not open. The fitness room is bad: over half the machines are broken. The remaining machines only work partially: for example, toe clips are broken on many stationary cycles.
- 4/5
Loved the location, we parked the car and walked everywhere!
- 2/5
We booked this property for the rooftop pool, which we found out was closed upon arrival. The elevators were poorly run with extended wait times each time we used them. The bathroom door wouldn't close, the AC barely worked, etc. Great location but I wouldn't return.

Elevators. For some reason every time we needed an elevator, we had to wait 15-20 minutes, so we took my kindergartener, toddler, all our bags and stroller down 14 flights of stairs

Very large room for the location, valet parking available, snacks available in the lobby and Chipotle right off the lobby - in addition to Magnificent Mile shopping and lots of restaurants that were within walking distance. Great breakfast with plenty of seating. The carpet and paint were tired and need a refresh - but the bed was comfortable and the linens were good. There was a small pull out sofa bed and an additional chair in the room that were newer. I would stay here again - but hoping they have new carpet and paint in their future plans.
- 4/5
Room was huge! Bed was very comfortable. Water pressure was incredible. Very nice overall!
- 3/5
The elevators were very very slow . I’m pushing 70 and had to take 31 floors down on the stairs because my Uber was waiting for us. Plus have to carry my luggage..
- 4/5
With the hospital around the corner it was noisy!! But Great location.
- 2/5
There were roaches in our room and in the elevators. We told the front desk and they didn't seem to care.
- 4/5
Elevators were very slow to arrive. Other than that, the hotel was nice.
- 5/5
Great hotel and great locations. Close to great restaurants and lot great attractions
- 4/5
Everything was great with the exception that the pool was not open and our kids were really looking forward to it. I wish that information would've have been written in all caps on the site before we booked.
- 5/5
We had a great stay overall! The staff was very helpful and inviting, and the rooms were clean and organized.
- 5/5
Seemed short staffed but staff was very friendly!

Great hotel
- 5/5
Easy walking to sightseeing, dining, shopping. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great free breakfast lots of options too choose from
- 5/5
Great location, room was spacious and clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating, and overall the hotel was really nice. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Great customer service started when we checked in. While our room had minor flaws due to wear and tear, it was clean and our view was nice. Housekeeping did a terrific job cleaning while we were enjoying the town. Breakfast was decent to say the very least. I would definitely stay here again!
- 1/5
After finding bedbugs I phoned staff. A maintenance man came up at closed the room down. I took photos and maintenance took the bug. We were given a different room but our belongings had been in it all evening so I spent until 230 am washing everything we had. They had no laundry soap so I used shampoo I had brought. I had 1 evening to enjoy myself and that is how it was spent. I was told the manager would contact me. No call and no answer to my email. I’m sad as I don’t feel I should be charged for that experience. I will not stay here again. Jackie the staff member was very nice to me. They did give me quarters to wash the clothes. I asked if we could stay a bit longer as I was tired from being up most of the night. We were given a “complimentary hour”. I wish to be reimbursed for that night of laundry patrol that should have been movie watching with my granddaughter.
- 2/5
Hotel and Room is very out dated, online pictures were incorrect.
- 4/5
The only problem was in the morning one day we waited nine minutes to catch the elevator down second day we waited 12 minutes and most of the elevators were full to capacity
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was great. Area was safe. Check-in was a bit slow and elevators can be a wait at times, pool was out of order. Rooms were clean and views were nice. The shower head and pressure could've been better. I didn't try the breakfast. Overall Above average stay
- 5/5
This was a short stay as part of a girl’s trip. The Hotel accommodations were very pleasing. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The decor was timely. The walk-in shower was most appreciative due to physical limitations.
- 4/5
I'm a big fan of Hampton. It has an expensive feel without the price. My last 2 stays are a mixed bag. The rooms are always superb, but the facilities were less than stellar. Some are due for upgrades.
- 4/5
The property is in the heart of the city which makes it so convenient to walk around!
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Good place to stay downtown
- 3/5
Waiting for the elevator in the mornings was awful. We ended up walking down - 22 stories. Hotel was ok, good location but would try to stay on lower floor.
- 2/5
We booked this hotel because it was advertised to have a pool. We arrived and were notified that the pool was closed for renovations and it has been for months. We never would have booked here if we knew this. We don't get out of town often and this was really disappointing. We paid more compared to other offers in the area because of the pool so this was unfortunate.
- 3/5
It took a while to get help checking in. While checking in, there was a sign letting guests know the pool was closed for renovation. The AC stopped working well on the second day. The wait for the elevator was really bad in the morning during breakfast time and few other times throughout the day. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was amazing.
- 3/5
The pool was closed to do upgrades and we were not aware. My child was looking forward to swimming for our quick weekend trip away and we were disappointed
- 4/5
The only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is that the pool is under construction, but it was conveniently not mentioned when I booked the room.
- 2/5
Beds are super comfortable!! I am very picky on that. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was great. No follow through though. Paid too much for not being able to shower, no pool available and no extra blankets.
- 1/5
I arrived late...250.00 per night...and found a sign about the pool being closed until July 31. I was not aware of this. I would have chosen a different hotel from the git go. After the aggravation, I decided to stay because we were exhausted. The hotel desk was no help! I was really upset over the whole pool thing. THEN, we get in the elevator and stepped off to our floor. The smell of weed was horrible. The hallway carpet was absolutely filthy walking to the unit. We opened the door to the unit and the smell was in the room as soon as you opened the door..the room smelled moist as if there was water somewhere...and NO AC. The AC was broken. I was beside myself. We called down...maintenance came..(nice guy) and informed us that the hotel was booked. but the unit was down and he couldnt fix it. He offered to get us "box fans" because he wasnt sure if the part was available for the weekend. 250.00 per night...really....we packed our things and left! I was supposed to get a call from management and of course...did not. Now they say EXPEDIA is the one who needs to refund and EXPEDIA has not reached out to them at all.
- 4/5
Did not get room we booked. Couldnt get temperature to be comfortable.
- 2/5
Nice location. Nothing special about the hotel, little drab and rooms are low quality. But if you’re there for a night, gets the job done.
- 5/5
The gentleman working the breakfast area was unbelievable. I’ve never seen someone work so hard and so friendly so everyone! Great stay and will return.
- 3/5
Pool was closed. Main reason I booked
- 2/5
Rooms were filthy and peeling paint in the bathroom. Beds old and uncomfortable. Loud, old air conditioner. TV remote only partially working.
- 3/5
Booked specifically for pool and there was a sign at the check in desk that said pool was closed for renovations. Not only was this nowhere on the website for booking, but I overheard another customer say it’s been like that since last year.

The location is great. We had several issues that make me not want to return. Started with giving us a key to an already occupied room. Pool closed. No treadmil in gym. Breakfast was no good.
- 4/5
Very nice rooms
- 5/5
Every one was pleasant and helpful
- 3/5
Decent for the price. Saw some bugs in the bathroom and on the bench near the desk.
- 5/5
The room was very spacious, clean, and had all the things we needed for the most part. A microwave in the room would have been nice, but we managed. Very much enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend it!!
- 5/5
Comfy, quiet, clean. Well arranged room with a view.
- 3/5
Everything else was pretty standard and not anything outstanding.
- 5/5
It was a very pleasant stay. Very nice hotel and super friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic and we will stay here again.
- 3/5
Despite the price there was nothing in the way of complimentary refreshment. Water was $4 for a small bottle from reception. Reception staff varied from the offhand to the downright rude. The breakfast was not of much quality -v little fresh food. The swimming pool was not operative. The chamber maids I met, however, were v nice and did a good job of keeping the room clean and tidy. I was on the 38th floor which was quiet and the situation just off the magnificent mile is convenient. Overall I thought it was poor value.
- 1/5
Good area but this place was super small I would not ever return here
- 1/5
I had booked my stay a month or so prior, and I was notified the day of my 3 night stay we needed to be directed to another Hampton Inn due to damages in their building. The new Hampton Inn was great and the service was great. However, they could only take us for 2 nights, not 3. We were told the original Hampton Inn was to hold us the third night.
- 4/5
The hotel itself was great. Room was clean. Breakfast guy was very attentive and kept things filled. Giving it a 4 star because the valet parking connected to the hotel was absolutely horrendous. Everything in my trunk was disheveled. Even asked them not to drive so recklessly and it was worse the 2nd day. For over $50/night, the parking should have been much better. I won't stay at this hotel again because of it.

Great stay in a great location. Highly recommend the ramen shop across the street!
- 5/5
Very nice and convenient location
- 5/5
The stay was very nice. Amazing view, breakfast, and staff.
- 5/5
The hotel was close to Ohio beach, navy pier, and the river walk. Super convenient
- 5/5
Todo hermoso , muy limpio
- 5/5
Didn’t know the pool was roof top, so we must come back when it’s open!
- 4/5
Breakfast items, especially the sausage was inedible.
- 5/5
Older room however it was in great condition and was spacious. I would request it again
- 5/5
Great stay. Friendly staff. Beautiful view
- 3/5
Good location but noisy with ambulances. Room was comfortable but heating unit was very loud. No hairdryer in room, had to wait an hour to have one delivered. Good breakfast.
- 3/5
The ventilation was terrible. Couldn’t barely breathe. Was up all night bc the next door occupants were smoking weed all night so we were coughing & choking. No available rooms to switch. It was a long night. The breakfast was good though.
- 3/5
We reserved a double room with king bed. We got a standard room with two queens. Not that big a deal, but at 8 pm when I went to shower there was no hot water. Was offered another room but by the time issue was addressed was 11pm. Concierge and Bell hop were great!
- 5/5
Great place to stay

Large room.

Although room is a little bit old, but a lot of staff is very friendly. I love them. Smile is good!
- 5/5
Nothing, negative to say.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay very relaxing
- 4/5
The hotel was nice. The reception when we checked in was not nice. I was looked at by an employee like I was bothering her. No one at the front desk was friendly. The worst part of the stay was trying to get an elevator to leave for the airport. We waited on our floor for literally 27 minutes to get an elevator to go down to leave. Ridiculous.
- 5/5
Love this property, the location, and great staff. I will be returning no doubt.
- 1/5
Our room's air conditioner leaked a bunch of water the entire time and soaked the carpet in our room, causing us to only be able to use half the room since the floor was drenched. They said Expedia would call them and then they could issue a refund.
- 4/5
The room was nice, luminous, and the breakfast was just correct. The hotel itself is quite old, has seen better times. The elevators are a weak aspect, you take forever to catch one. The carpet in the corridors need a deep clean as well. For some reason Chicago emergency vehicles use a very noisy siren, it's impossible to sleep through the night. Other cities have change to equality effective but not so disturbing sirens.
- 1/5
Stay in McCormick Place! You will get a bang for your buck!
- 2/5
We had to wait over 20 minutes for an elevator multiple times over the span of 4 days. The fan in the bathroom was broken. Lighting in the room and bathroom was poor. We observed bugs in our luggage after leaving the hotel. Parking was confusing as the valets did not communicate the process well with us. The bellhop we first met was the only friendly staff that even greeted us. We will not be returning to this location next time we are in town.
- 4/5
The room was ok nothing to rave about. Since the hotel is in a very prime location morning breakfast rush was very packed. However the mezzanine has plenty of sit-down space. It was an overall good experience.
- 3/5
Room next to elevator shafts! Not good for money paid.
- 5/5
Staff were very helpful, room was comfortable. Bathroom was small and elevator was very busy. Long waits between 8 and 11 am
- 4/5
Overall good close to everything, but pool is closed and in the room cleanliness some spots where not cleaned properly. But after great stay
- 5/5
Good breakfast.
- 5/5
Very nice room
- 2/5
This hotel has seen better days. It’s shabby and sad. But far worse is the lack of adequate elevators. The 40-story hotel has just three elevators. We waited more than 15 minutes for an elevator to breakfast as elevator after elevator bypassed our floor. (We finally hit the UP button so we could get it to stop on our floor, then rode up 20 floors so we could go down to the mezzanine.) Same story when we tried to check out. Everyone bonded with other guests, though, over the problem. Staff told us this happens every weekend. Also, failed to get any gift/recognition as a Hilton Honors member, though I did get bottled water when I asked for it. Frankly, I’m surprised this hotel continues to bear the Hampton name.
- 5/5
Close to hospitals, just didn’t like valet price

Room was clean and spacious for Chicago. Down side was my room was rigjt next to the elevators and I heard the motors running all evening (did not wake me up as I am a good sleeper). Nice, hot breakfast, but they were out of fresh fruit minus apples for 3 straight days.

The location and the personnel were very nice. Our only slight issue is that all of the warm food for breakfast was not warm at all. The gentleman working was very nice. That was the only “issue”

- 4/5
Great location. Very nice for a simple stay.
- 5/5
We really liked our room in a hotel. It was very specious and clean. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and location of the hotel is in a walking distance from good shopping places.

They had good service but there was roaches.

Stay was convenient. Front desk was awesome brrakfast and breakfast staff were amazing.
- 3/5
When we arrived our room clearly was not ready. Staff was very accommodating and helpful.
- 5/5
Very nice stay! I will definitely stay here again in the future
- 3/5
The only thing I didn't like is that it was a little dirty, with stains on the sheets and walls and the bathroom extractor all dirty. Only two towels for 4 people and a roll of toilet paper for 3 days, everything else was very good, the food, the employees and the view of the city.
- 3/5
Staff was awesome....room out dated
- 4/5
Elevator situation needs improvement. Ok rooms. Kind of dated. Nice staff. Parking prices are stupid (71/day) - dont do it. extremely loud heater in the room. Lots of things close by that are fun. Nice neighborhood. This hotel would be great if the price was always 125.
- 1/5
We had reservations, our conformation number and showed the check in clerk the email and she said they had no reservation for us. We waited 30 minutes for them to get us a room we not only reserved but had paid for. Then when we finally got a room we discovered the heat did not work and we had to call the front desk to find us another room. How upsetting.
- 5/5
The shopping and dining were close by the property and enjoyed everything
- 5/5
The room had an excellent view and the cleanings of room everything was very good we enjoyed our stay. Definitely coming back someday
- 2/5
We requested a king but was given 2 double beds. I can live with that, although it was not ideal. However the breakfast was some of the worse I’ve ever tasted before. This is not a location that we would ever frequent again.
- 4/5
Excellent service
- 1/5
Upon arrival check in was hassle free the area was perfect and it had almost everything at walking distance. Unfortunately at night when we went to shower there was a foul odor coming from the bathtub and as we inspected further cockroaches were running up the tub and down the drain. We immediately packed up and headed to the front desk where they stated there was nothing that could be done on their behalf since there was no manager on their shift. He also stated we’d have to either stay in the room or find something else since they were fully booked, so we left. The following day no one contacted me and when I called the hotel and their front desk I was immediately sent to voicemail multiple times. Quite unfortunate considering the amount of money you’re paying for a suite. Do not recommend staying.

- 5/5
This property is really close to Michigan Avenue for shopping. We come down whem we have appointments at Northwestern Medicin
- 3/5
We have stayed at this hotel before and found it Ok. After this stay we will not be back. Heating system was so loud we turned it off. Room was tiny and uncomfortably. There are several nicer hotels within a stones throw try those.
- 3/5
Very different from the photos. This place definitely needs renovation and improvements. Location is perfect for tourists however be prepared for hallways that smell like weed, a basic room and waiting for the elevator during peak times like lunch and dinner. I've never had to wait for 15 minutes just to go downstairs from my room but hey, they say there's a first for everything
- 5/5
The housekeeper was very friendly, and a worker down in the lobby was very helpful when I was struggling to use the laundry room. The included breakfast was an extra bonus. I can't recommend it enough.
- 5/5
Friendly staff

Each employee I interacted with were very professional and friendly. Great views from my room. Awesome breakfast! I haven’t had service like this in a while. Thank you and greatly appreciated. I’ll definitely be back.

Only complaint is the hot water in the shower was just warm not hot. I could not get it any warmer.

We had a very pleasant stay. Everything was within walking distance. The staff member who was monitoring at the breakfast area was very friendly and showed courtesy to everyone. I would love to come back here again next time.

The breakfast area was very cold. The staff there as well as at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.

Great location for American Girl store

They claims something happened with my transaction so restarted the process and then proceeded to double charge me for my stay and charge me two late fees when I was ON TIME… totally an extra 650 dollars in charges not included the 200 incidental fee. This hotel was a nightmare. They had no idea where my money went and oh ya there was MOLD! Yup! See pics below :)
