Reviews
The hotel is praised for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Its location is also highly appreciated, being close to downtown and UC Davis. However, some guests have complained about the noise from the room fridge compressor, train, and traffic. There were also issues with breakfast not being offered and the shower head being dirty.

Nice decor, beyond the usual boring hotel design. Excellent location, short walking distance to downtown, Farmers' Market, all the stores, cafes, restaurants. Entrance to Arboretum walkway literally across the street from the hotel. Free parking. There is no breakfast offered but 24 hour coffee and tea and coffee in the lobby and Keurig coffeemaker in the room. Gym is tiny and no pool and there is basically no real lobby to hang out. Staff is friendly but a bit non chalant (UC Davis students?), room service knocked on our door at 6 am one morning although we had not asked for room service. Leaf blower in action super loudly at 8 am.

Walking into room through bathroom area.
- 4/5
The ambiance was great. Very clean, easy to park and walk everywhere. Walking into room through bathroom area.
- 4/5
The room is rather small, however it will work for a family of 3 with the bed and pull out couch. Might need to move some furniture around, but it'll work for one night like it did for us. Nice to have a fridge and theres a coffee shop right across the street that opens at 7am. In addition, lot of restaurtants within walking distance. Parking can be a bit crammed given the spaces are rather narrow, but if you get there early enough, it will work.
- 5/5
Nice small hotel for one night stay. Hilton is right on the street with all the restaurants though. This one is a short drive away, around 5 mins.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
Only issue was the late check out, we told two different people and they still called to say we need to leave by 11. Then after the third time she said ok and the maid started knocking on the door.

Yes awoken at 9 am to people using loud yard power tools all outside my room the room was supposed to have a whirlpool tub it did not and that was the main reason for my stay the fridge was broken my food I put inside had spoiled shower broken

Courteous staff, super clean room, nice Starbucks coffee at reception and daily fresh cookies. Superb location next to UC Davis campus, right in the downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants.. and this is my favorite place to stay while visit my student there without renting a car because everything is within walking distance.

Clean
- 5/5
Room is well appointed, clean and the beddings are so good. Courteous and Helpful Staff and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- 4/5
I’ve stayed here quite a few times and always been impressed. However this time my downstairs room was on the ground floor by the crossroads. Consequently it was quite noisy. Earplugs were provided!!
- 5/5
Nicely clean and updated. A bit narrow but ok. AC works very well. Pillows are a bit too puffy for my taste. I like pillows that sink a little so my neck doesn't feel wrenched.
- 5/5
Loved the robes.
- 5/5
Close to downtown, clean, good vibes.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay at Aggie Inn. It’s walkable to downtown Davis which is very convenient.
- 3/5
The cabin was beautiful and quiet. We were very impressed. The most difficulty we had was with the electronics and plugs. There was only one plug on the left side of the bed, but a plethora on the right side. So I had to move the bed to plug in my wife's CPAP machine. All four plugs by the sink were dead. My wife had to curl her hair under the television. And speaking of television, the Dish Network kept cutting out, so if you're a T.V. watcher, expect a LOT of interruptions of "no service available." That said, the walkability of the Aggie Inn to the university and the surrounding restaurants was amazing.
- 4/5
Clean, easy to walk to downtown and UC Davis campus
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Great location
- 4/5
Good location. Nice property. Rooms are a bit small and parking is an issue.
- 4/5
The absence of elevator should clearly be dealt with. The Tv malfunctioned continuously. Room was nice and clean.
- 5/5
A beautiful room in cabin like setting. Room was spotless.
- 5/5
We loved staying in the cottage- so lovely and an easy walk to restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Friendly and quick check in, easy parking, clean and comfy room, convenient location- all add up to a perfect stay. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are passing through the area.
- 4/5
The room was oddly proportioned, so that it was a bit crowded feeling. The bathroom was nicely appointed though. The air conditioning was loud, but greatly appreciated. Overall, a pleasant enough place to stay.
- 5/5
Location was great! The room looks recently updated.
- 5/5
The staff was really friendly and the hotel was clean.
- 5/5
I only stay one night, but it was clean, quiet, and well-appointed.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and great room.
- 5/5
Quiet, clean and comfortable
- 4/5
The location of the hotel was great, since my daughter and I were in Davis to tour the university. We had a good stay.
- 5/5
Quaint and close to downtown shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
The location is perfect! Complementary Bikes are available, which just added to the experience. Steps from many restaurants and activities! Perfect for visiting parents with students a UCD!
- 5/5
The bed was so comfortable!
- 5/5
Very comfortable well located hotel. No bells and whistles really, but everything you need.
- 5/5
Right next to UC Davis, so it's convenient to go and visit our son.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved this hotel ! We splurged on one of the king cottages and it’s was huge , comfortable and cute ! The property is charming and clean , friendly staff and walkable to the town . Highly recommended !
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Good place with clean rooms convenient to UC Davis. Some traffic and train noise, but they provided earplugs!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, easy walk to UCD campus
- 4/5
The property was nice enough and none of the things I noted prevented us from enjoying our stay but I might choose a different property next time as there are a handful of things I noticed that were different from the reviews and photos and just a little less than I was expecting. First, I could hear footsteps from the neighboring cottage and I heard the bar across the street late into the night. I noticed the drywall had settling cracks in the front room, there is paint worn off on multiple surfaces, the Jacuzzi tub was a little discolored, and the front deck appears to need sealant, giving the whole property a well worn aesthetic. The property is strange in that it has a hotel wing, a motel wing, and cottages. The grounds are well kept though the building looks a bit dated and low budget. All things considered, this hotel is fine but easily forgotten and possibly a real problem for light sleepers depending on what's happening in the neighboring units and neighborhood.
- 5/5
Close to downtown and the university. Walked to breakfast, dinner and shopping. The arboretum path is across the street for a nice stroll.
- 5/5
Awesome hotel! Love this property - so close to UCD, and quite nice!
- 5/5
Amazing! We would absolutely stay here again. The rooms are nicely updated, it’s within walking distance to the university as well as restaurants, and the hotel had Starbucks coffee in the morning and a wine opener with wine glasses in the room for the evening. Nice touch!
- 5/5
Very comfortable motel in downtown Davis.
- 5/5
Excellent location
- 5/5
Nice place to stay.
- 5/5
Aggie Inn is comfortable and a high quality hotel. You can walk to UC Davis and downtown easily. Highly recommend when visiting UC Davis.
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
I had a very pleasant and peaceful stay. It was very convenient to walk to campus or to get coffee and to many restaurants and bars. I will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 4/5
Nice hotel but needs an elevator to second floor.
- 5/5
Excellent property for stay near UC Davis. Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
Great location but on our last visit there was a woman talking loudly outside our room at around 4am for at least an hour.
- 4/5
The property was clean. What I didn't like was that I told them to clean my room three times and didn't do it. Didn't refill soap dispenser. I had to chase the room service to get it.
- 5/5
What I liked: *Awesome location in downtown walkable Davis *Clean and remodeled *Bed super comfy *AC worked and wasn't loud *Spacious room *Housekeeping isn't scheduled daily, but if you tell them before 9:00 a.m. they will clean on that day What you may not like: *Second floor rooms do not have an elevator for access *Some of the rooms face a street that at times is somewhat loud. When I first arrived in the afternoon I heard quite a bit of traffic, in the evening not at all. If it had continued, it would not be that big of a deal for me. And I don't think it impacts that many of the rooms. * Happenings in the hallway you can hear in the rooms. However this is typical for most places. I would stay here again. And I'm very curious about the private bungalows they have on the property. If it was graduation weekend or some other busy weekend, I would not want to be here because I would hear everything in the hallway/doors slamming and it would be frustrating. As someone that travels practically weekly, and I stay at very nice business hotels, I was quite happy with the Aggie. I stayed on a Saturday night and they were probably pretty full...but it wasn't a lively event weekend. This is just preference though.
- 5/5
Nice front desk and a peaceful area
- 5/5
Great location, very nice cabin
- 5/5
Black Bear Cafe is right down the street.
- 4/5
The beds were very comfortable, showers clean but the shower doors leaked water onto the floor outside of the shower. While the room was nice, it was super tiny. We had a 2 queen room for 4 adults. There was less than 2 feet between the beds and less than 2 feet between the beds and the desk and TV. You couldn’t walk around the room all at once and add the 4 bags we had our stuff in…way to small. The rooms with multiple beds should be bigger. Especially for the $300 a night price.
- 5/5
The property is very clean and stylish, also well-designed! The staff is professional but really friendly and I loved that they left a complementary graduation gift in every room, as it’s graduation weekend here in Davis.
- 5/5
cozy
- 5/5
Nice hotel and location. Check in was easy and the employees were very friendly.
- 5/5
We stayed in the Silo (larger cottage room) and it was wonderful. There is ample space and the location is very ideal. It is near downtown (within walking distance) but felt safe and private. Came here with my family and both kids really enjoyed the experience. Would definitely stay here again if we come to UC Davis.
- 5/5
It was clean and grest
- 4/5
The staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the noise of the room fridge compressor when it came on. But really not a big deal. And we didn't realize we would hear the train. But a gain, not a big deal. Would definitely stay here again if our child decides to go to UC Davis.
- 5/5
Very nice room. Comfortable bed. Nice sitting area on deck outside our room.
- 2/5
Almost gave us a keys to an occupied unit because they had assigned the room we booked to someone else in error. Although we were able to switch the next day, it was inconvenient and disrupted our schedule. Was told we would be given a "huge" discount as a result, which did not happen. They basically lowered our rate to reflect the lower type accommodation we stayed at for the first night. In addition, the shower head ar our 2nd unit was so dirty, I had to clean it myself. I wanted to like this place, but this experience was enough to drive us back to Hyatt. Will never stay or recommend this place.
- 5/5
Spacious yet cozy cottage
- 5/5
The receptionist was helpful and accomdating. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
conveniently located to downtown. Clean and up to date! Definitely will stay again
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
Easy and fast check in, spacious clean rooms, quiet safe neighborhood, the perfect location.
- 5/5
Modern, clean, comfortable rooms. So walkable. We’ve stayed twice and will definitely be back
- 5/5
I like walking distance to downtown and campus. .I have stayed there a few times before. I attended UCD many decades ago and like to visit once in a while.
- 5/5
So walkable! I loved this hotel, everything was updated. Very nice!
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with a warm and friendly staff. Excellent parking, clean facility, nice amenities. We enjoyed sitting on the front patio in the evening with our complimentary tea. Within walking distance of most of downtown Davis and the University. We will definitely stay here again.
- 2/5
No water bottles were provided for coffee machine in room, lack of shampoo, soap, towels, very sparse for the price of the cottage. Expected more for the cottage experience
- 4/5
Cottages are charming, street noise is generally not a problem
- 2/5
“Heater” blew very cold air all night
- 5/5
Always like staying here when in Davis. Close to everything.
- 4/5
Everything was fine. It took some time for me to find my room because I have arrived a bit early but otherwise it was a pleasant experience.
- 5/5
Easy, clean, perfect location. Definitely would stay again!
- 5/5
We liked the hotel in general.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel- friendly staff, clean rooms & property, great, convenient location in downtown Davis
- 5/5
The staff are friendly and professional. Great service!! We’ll return soon!
- 5/5
We stayed in one of the Cottaged loved it great experience
- 5/5
Clean, friendly, convenient
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and great comfortable accommodations.
- 4/5
We spoke to the nice young man at the desk in the morning about it. He suggested that next time we ask for a room that hasn't been sprayed with anything and that the linens are unscented. We will try that.
- 5/5
Perfect place
- 5/5
Friendly staff great location always clean
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay. We stayed in one of the suites. It was perfect
- 2/5
Poorly maintained property.
- 5/5
Great location, clean and upgraded property. No breakfast despite website posts to the contrary. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, friendly staff
- 4/5
A quick couple of days to check in on my Aggie, the Aggie Inn made a great base. It’s conveniently located right between campus and downtown. My only complaints would be the rock hard pillows and the lack of breakfast. Having stayed on a previous visit at the Hyatt, still mid pandemic and seen that they manage to provide breakfast, not sure why Aggie Inn still cannot.
- 4/5
Close to UC Davis very convenient
- 1/5
Room has underwear from the past guest stay that they failed to clean after after several calls and 5 days stay . They said that because the COVID they don’t clean rooms ( $250 dlls night rate ????). No elevator and nobody help you with luggage .
- 4/5
Loved our stay. Close to everything
- 3/5
Something the hotel could have controlled would be worker noise. The property was under some sort of renovation way in the back but the workers park right by the guest rooms in the front. The workers were talkative and loud starting at 7am. The whole place smelled of old smoke even though this is a non smoking property. I am sure when it was taken over from prior operators this was something that changed. However the carpets hold the musk all in. Please also be aware the heating and cooling are old units built into the wall under the window. Also be aware that trains run along Davis and you will hear them.
- 5/5
Overall the stay was great! Good location, nice clean place. Due to covid no breakfast, dont clean roooms, etc... we stayed 8 days, I had to beg to change my sheets, but for shorter stays I would prefer this hotel over some others in the area. However, I do think that it was overpriced. Paid 2K for 8 days, had no choice since needed place walking distance.
- 4/5
Quiet
- 4/5
Property was very clean, and staff were friendly and accommodating. However, the parking spots were a significant problem. The "normal" size spaces were less than normal, as they were maybe the size of a compact space, if that. The compact spaces were less than compact, somewhere between the size of motorcycle parking and the size that only a Smart Car would fit. So needless to say, many people probably had door dings, and probably many others just didn't have parking due to customers simply taking two slots, or there was just no room to actually park in the slots that were left. Otherwise, the property was nice and in a great location.
- 5/5
We stayed in one of the cottage style suites and it was amazing. Everything was so clean and up to date and spacious. Plus the jetted bathtub was a huge bonus.
- 5/5
We loved it.
- 5/5
Check-in was easy, staff was friendly, the room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is small and cozy in a great location right next to the UC campus.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
The Aggie Inn is our favorite hotel in the Davis area. We especially love staying in one of the charming cottages, They're a sweet little home away from home.
- 5/5
The Aggie Inn was clean and close to everything. The staff was courteous and helpful. Parking was available on the property and easily accessible. No elevator for a person with bad knees and back but not a game changer since rooms were situated near the stairwell.
- 4/5
Hotel was nice but It was graduation weekend and it would have been nice if all the planters had flowers instead of last years dead plants
- 4/5
Great location, spacious cottages, walls a bit thin and they could use some upgrading (some paint was peeling on the walls and the shower head could be replaced), but overall it was comfy and a nice in town getaway for my bday!
- 2/5
I went to ride the bikes and they didn’t have them due to covid but they are like carts why not wipe , the room was too small had to walk sideways around the beds , they didn’t have breakfast, they could serve in lunch bags like other hotels. They are hiding behind covid to not serve us. And the price is still the same. They should tell us what is not offered I would of gone to another hotel.
- 3/5
Only real issue was the air conditioner was right next to our bed and was noisy. It also blew cold air on m
- 3/5
Room was excellent. Clean, well appointed. With that said, if you want quiet this is not your place. We stayed on a Monday night and trains, trains, trains. All night long. Then in the morning city buses and car traffic. We used the continuous fan until 3am but got to cold.
- 5/5
Great location with a modern and clean room. We were in the main hotel, not the cottage, which I presume would also be nice, but don’t know for sure. I saw lots of complaints about the breakfast in the comments before booking so wasn’t expecting much, but that was fine. Clean room and adequate quick options as you might expect for this class of hotel. I would stay again and recommend to others.
- 5/5
Clean, very friendly, great breakfast, very conveniently located, attractive facility.
- 5/5
Thank you Alexis for all your help!
- 5/5
Excellent downtown Davis location. The service was professional and friendly. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast selection was very good. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Very comfortable and spacious! Breakfast was great...lots to choose from.
- 2/5
Room had a very noisy heating unit in it. Made it hard to sleep.
- 5/5
One night stay for a UC Davis campus tour. Perfect location. 12 minute walk to welcome center. They let us leave the car parked until after our tour, saving us $10. Breakfast was an upgrade from the usual styrofoam with good variety, but still a motel breakfast. Overall a great choice.
- 4/5
The property was convenient to local attractions and dining. It was quiet. The breakfast room, although small, was very nice, food was plentiful and appetizing. The only draw back was the outside staircase was strewn with leaves and the exterior was a bit run down looking. The interior was nicely appointed, comfortable beds, nice amenities. We would return if we happen to be in Davis again.
- 5/5
staff was exceptional . Rooms are modern and comfortable.
- 5/5
Very clean, very quiet. Staff very professional and polite. My only complaint is the size of the parking spaces. I have a compact car and still had a very hard time fitting in between the other cars.
- 5/5
It was a great hotel. Hotel was very stylish and clean. Free wi-fi is a plus and the breakfast was awesome. They notified me that I left an electronic device and kept it safe until I could return. Look forward to staying again.
- 5/5
The Aggie Inn is in a perfect location to enjoy downtown Davis and the campus by simply walking out the door. The decor in the room is sophisticated and everything was very clean and comfortable. My daughters appreciated the cookies when we first checked in, too.
