Reviews
Ember Hostel is a popular choice among travelers, praised for its great location, friendly and helpful staff, and cozy atmosphere. The hostel offers clean restrooms and showers, comfortable beds, and a variety of amenities such as a hot tub and free tea. However, some guests have complained about weak shower pressure, the lack of privacy in the shower design, and the need for better ventilation in the dorm rooms.

The place is good very well located so you can walk basically everywhere I would like the place implemented a bit more flexible scheduling is 3pm but some guess might come early and still have to wait other than that everything was great the environment, the place etc recommended for sure

Perhaps this was a one-time mistake/error on their behalf, but it so happened that the day I booked, a lot of things were going wrong. The AC was broken in the main room where we all slept, and consequently, it made it extremely difficult to go to sleep or relax. The solution to this issue?: Duct-tape (and not a surprise to learn that this did NOT work). The other visitors with me, whom also happened to be guests, worked together to fix the AC ourselves. This is not withstanding the fact that an extremely uncomfortable situation unfolded when the workers barged into our room at night to kick a visitor out. Though it was the correct course of action to kick him out, since, he had been verbally harassing the workers and other guests; this, nonetheless, did extremely affect our stay and experience.

The decor and amenities were great! The curtains and the structure of the beds gave great privacy and did well in blocking the room light. No foil or plastic wrap to use.

The stay is an experience in itself. You’re going to meet all sorts of people from all over the world. Everyone was super friendly. I was fun to talk and hang out around the fire pit at night. It takes about a day to get settled in and get used to how a hostel operates.

It was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bedsheets were dirty, and the room was unbearably hot with no ventilation. I asked the staff to do something about the air, but they didn’t help at all. It felt like trying to sleep in 100-degree heat, and I couldn’t sleep throughout the entire night. The toilet was also dirty. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hostel.

The bathrooms are small but work. Theres hardly anywhere to put clothes when showing so they dont stay wet, I made it work however. Hard to dress in the top bunk as its limited room. So its either you dress outside your bunk or in the tiny bathrooms.' Thanks for a great stay! Id love to come back & hopefully meet some more people (and stay on the bottom bunk?? :) )

An amazing hostel which is very close Denver downtown. You can go to museums by walk. The staff is very kind and you feel like at home in this hostel. There is an amazing atmosphere.

The hostel is well located and really comfortable. The atmosphere is warmful and I feel like home. All was good

Management was disrespectful. Staff stole my food. Kicked me out and didn’t refund my money. The hot tub smells like shit. Bugs in the restroom. My curtain on my bunk was broken the whole time.
- 5/5
This was a bunk in a hostel and thus basic. Spotlessly clean. The hostel is located in an old, gorgeous mansion - which made it unique. Friendly staff, full kitchen, hot tub and outside fire pit. The property was secure and I felt safe there. Would stay again.

I’ve stayed here plenty of times in the past and I have zero complaints. Of the two hostels available in Denver. The ember hostel is my favorite when it comes to atmosphere, friendliness of staff, and it’s in the Capitol Hill area, which is within 2 miles of places like Ball Arena for a nuggets or Avalanche game. It’s about a seven dollar scooter ride to the game, but there are a lot of places to eat nearby. And on this particular visit, accidentally discovered how close the Denver art museum was. If I could change one thing about this hostel, I would make it closer to Ball Arena than it is. But the sacrifice on distance to the game is worth the overall experience in comparison to the other hostel in Denver.

- 5/5
Gorgeous property, great location, immaculately maintained. Beautiful backyard. Only downside was staff on final day couldn’t be bothered to have hot coffee prepared nor acknowledge me at check out because both times she was too engaged with her computer screen at front desk, which is simply weird for one working in hospitality.
- 5/5
The ambiance was great! The towels were sometimes to rough and they would not exchange them once you touched them.
- 4/5
There are some restaurants in short walking distance if you want to eat out instead of cook. There are also multiple bus lines nearby to take you into the city center. All the staff I interacted with were polite and accomodating. I felt welcome.
- 0.5/5
I wasn't allowed to stay there. I would like my refund please.
- 3/5
The hostel is well located and the staff was super friendly. It was considerably clean taking in consideration how many people were using the bathroom/shower. My only issue was the it was super hot inside. They have portable AC units and the one in my room did not work. During summer it’s probably impossible to sleep comfortably.
- 5/5
It was so cute and the staff were lovely! I made friends!
- 5/5
Great staff, fun space but be aware of the area. My car was broken into in the parking lot by some vagrants. Otherwise it was a good place to stay.
- 1/5
My plane was late and I didn’t get to my destination and I didn’t get a refund.
- 5/5
Honestly I felt at home at Ember. The pricing is the greatest value you can get and even that is a hostel, you can sleep pretty well in here. Definitely coming back.
- 5/5
Elegant common room, cool people, friendly, hot tub, fire pit. Great beds
- 5/5
No Denver residents allowed/two day local policy is kind of sad to hear about. :(
- 4.5/5
The room and facilities were very nice. The staff is very friendly. Everything was clean. There are events every night and is a great place to meet people if you go alone. The mattress of the bed was overly soft and you sink in it, it is not too bad for a few days, but for more than 2 days it will make your back hurt.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff!
- 5/5
1. It could do with some way to figure out how not to get the others get disturbed when 1 person in a room of six snored uncontrollably or sleep talks 2. The bathroom could do with a rod for towel, clothes etc and some place to keep a bag 3. a mirror over the basin for shaving would help 4. a hair dryer would be a very helpful addition too 5. Some more power outlets in the living area. Otherwise it was very good for the price. Thanks!
- 5/5

Great staff, like really, really, great!
- 4/5
The property itself is AMAZING. Beautifully preserved and renovated. Stunning atmosphere. Covered porch in the front came in handy when it rained. Open patio in the back attracted folks to hang together. Multi person hot tub was a hit. It was easy to get along with people staying at the hostel. Lots of likeminded travelers are attracted to this space! The rooms were well-kept and cleaned regularly. The communal bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. There was breakfast on occasion and different events going on like movies and live music. It was easy to be social or independent. Sharing a space with others will inevitably come with tolerating other people’s cleanliness, respect for time and quiet, etc. I didn’t run into issues but it’s par for the course of staying in a hostel.
- 3.5/5
The staff was friendly and the beds were decently comfy. As a solo female traveler, there was not a single time I felt uncomfortable or threatened in any way. I loved that there was tea available t brew! The bathrooms were pretty narrow and I didn't find any mirrors which made it a little hard to get ready in the morning for a big event but those are minor complaints.
- 5/5
Jacuzzi Is good but 2 time give my bed to the other people
- 3.5/5
Friendly residents and relaxed aphmosphere. Common area was confortable I felt safe and secure kitchen offered free coffee and a place to store food. Laundry and showers clean and modern, The hot tub was warm crontrols did not work to turn on jets. I asked to buy a lock for my locker did not have any. The other question was about getting to the airport. Vauge answer about go to Union Station two mikes away, Fortunate the RTD app. directed me to the bus stop for the 0 bus to Union station My bed was right next to the door and everytime it opened I woke up
- 5/5
The hostel itself it in a good area, there is free tea and there is a lot of bathrooms and showers. The thing I loved was the lounging areas, the jacuzzi and the fireplace were both open and provided a fantastic experience. We got the cheapest option which was the big shared room and no one snored which is super lucky. The parking does cost but its only $10 which is good considering its near the city center.
- 5/5

Staff and cleanliness is always awesome here!
- 4/5
The staff is kind and professional, the facilities are very clean. The atmosphere is cozy. There was too much noise at night in the room. People were talkin laud sometime watchin instagram videos without headset. Altough there is a no noise after 11 PM policy, which could be better enforced.
- 5/5
This hostel is located downtown in a beautiful building in a safe area. Staff is super friendly, helpful, and professional. Facilities include a cozy living room, spacious backyard with hot tub and fireplace, shared kitchen, a storage room and plenty of showers and restroom. I loved the atmosphere! And Ethan's coffee is great ;o) -

Got a parking pass and there was no parking left when I came to sleep I didn’t even stay the night because I was furious
- 5/5
Was a very pleasant stay, good people make good places. The staff were great, a shout out to the manager Neon, and his wonderful staff Lakshay, Calem, Reek, Natasha and Ethan. The hospitality was above and beyond some places I have stayed like the Viceroy Hotel in Vail. The tea was always readily available and the coffe just kept flowing. Anything in and everything to do in Denver is within extremely easy access thanks to the Multitude of public transit routes in the area. If you want a ride even as far out as Nederland, Co its 2025 and only $5.50 for a day pass or as little as $2.70 if you qualify for a discounted pass. The 16th street mall is within walking distance with 2 different free buses available. One of which runs every 10-15 minutes. Tons of museums like the Firefighters museum, the convention center, Santa Fe art district (full of local artists), children's museum, The Bellco theater for the performing Arts, a cultural museum, night clubs, bars, sports stadiums, and ballrooms if interested in different styles from classical to swing to even break dancing. 4 grocery stores near by and even a convenience store just 6 minute walk away. The cleanliness of the place was just immaculate and impressive. The property is very well maintained by Quitin(?) The gentleman is a true Caballero. And Ethan is always ready to help where ever he can with his medic kit. The tram here deserves a Bravo and standing ovation 👏 🙌 👌 👍 💪

The staff was great. I was really new to staying in a hostel. Everything I wanted to do was close by. Great experience.

I made my reservation for Ember Hostel Nov 13 to 15, received the email confirmation, that the reservation is made and I will pay upon arrival, I had a redeye flight from NYC, arrived at the airport around 130am and made it to the Ember about a little after 3am, walked in and there was no attendant, a sign was posted that the person will be back in 5minutes and if need assistance ring the bell, which I did, waited and walked around the lobby area, there was a person passed out/sleeping in the common area, out cold, not sure if he was a guest or one of the staffer, after a few minutes went back to the front desk and rang the bell again, at this point another guest was also in the lobby area and also rang the bell, 3 times and no one showed up at the desk, I sat down next to the vending machine and waited a few more minutes, it was getting close to 4am and at this point I booked another room at Days Inn a few blocks away. I called their number the next day and left a message, no call back, and had also checked my account and I was charged $94.51, I have their emails that said it was a reservation and payment will be made upon arrival. Not a very good experience.

It is a very clean space, the staffs are friendly and willing to help. An improvement would be maintenance in terms of the doors and surroundings. Also, there is only one restroom per floor for the shared bedrooms, that was so inconvenient! Over all, I liked it there and would like to visit again!
- 5/5
The building is beautiful. The guest were nice. The staff is friendly. The area is safe and has restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.

Area seems unsafe and inconvenient. The staff had a sense of snobbishness and told me mixed instructions. Some say if you don’t put your towel in the hamper then you get charged extra money and others say it’s fine, go ahead and leave your towel on the hook.

The best hostel I have ever stayed in, with warm and spacious beds, very clean cleaning, separate shower and bathroom, very clean and convenient, friendly and caring staff, and close proximity to the bus stop

- 5/5
Absolutely stunning hostel. Great mix of people and warm welcoming staff. The neighbourhood has plenty of good eats and coffee around. Easy access to Union Station and the airport. Didnt engage in any activities as I was on a shopping holiday but they looked great with yoga and sunrise walks.
- 4/5
Would have been 5 stars if their posting explained their policy that Colorado residents were limited to 2 nights only. Otherwise, wonderful place, a little slice of heaven.
- 5/5
Fabulous place. Great staff and fellow guests…very social…thoughtful, artful design. Loved it!
- 5/5
The vibe here was superb. Staff was hospitable. Room was comfy, especially when all I needed was a place to sleep after heavy nights of drinking, and a shower to do it all over again the next day. Would love to stay here again.

Ember Hostel was super cozy. I only stayed one night but it was a very restful night -- I only had two other male roommates in my 6 bed co-ed dorm and they were respectful and quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by their bathroom/shower setup -- there are bathrooms and then several separate rooms containing showers/sinks. The shower I used was super clean and private, when I was expecting something like they have at gyms (all stalls/urinals/showers in the same place and minimal privacy), given my past hostel experiences. My only complaint is the shower design itself -- its one of those that rains from the ceiling, and the water pressure was very weak. For me, that makes it difficult to shower. Really great place otherwise. Would stay again!
- 5/5
This was my 6th or 7th stay at the Ember Hostel and it simply doesn’t disappoint. I had an 18 hour flight layover in Denver and I knew exactly where I wanted to go for the night! The staff has always been friendly, the beds are very comfortable and this is the perfect place a for an individual to stay for a quick 1 night visit at an affordable rate. Clean restrooms and showers, I was able to wash my clothes. There is no deposit - just pay the price of the room when you walk in. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance! Want a recommendation? Ask the staff, they will have several! If you never stayed at a hostel before, this is the one in Denver to try out. Don’t hesitate! Book your bed now! I personally will absolutely stay here several more times in the future!
- 5/5
Made some friends! It was quiet, and people are super nice!!!
- 5/5
I had a great stay. Great staff and was very helpful. I did enjoy the hot tube at the hostel.

- 5/5
My stay was great, staff beyond friendly and helpful. I arrived in Denver well before check-in and was able to come to property. I was given a short tour from the supervisor I believe and store my things until my reservation was ready. Restrooms, kitchen and bedroom remained spotless my entire stay. Resident cat is adorable and super cute!

- 5/5
This was my first time staying in a hostel and the experience was everything and more!! Great and helpful staff. Also felt very safe!
- 5/5
I felt very safe and comfortable during my stay at the Ember. As a woman I felt very safe and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I also liked the fact that privacy was not an issue. It was quiet and peaceful but offered the opportunity to mingle with other house guest. I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the restroom and showers. I loved it so much I booked a couple of more nights!
- 5/5
Fantastic, had amazing time! Everyone is so nice and friendly love this place!
- 5/5
It was very unique and quiet…come with resident cat lol.
- 5/5
I had a great a stay and the staff were awesome!
- 5/5
What a wonderful little gem to discover. I came down for the Depeche Mode show and stayed here. The staff is helpful and friendly, the environment is unique and cozy. They have a resident kitty that is as sweet as pie. The over all vibe of this place is wonderful. Next time I'm bringing my swim suit so I can enjoy the hot tub. I will definitely be staying here again.
- 4/5
I had debated on three previous trips to Denver if I wanted to stay here. I finally decided to give it a shot. I had never stayed in a hostile before and obviously I was nervous and curious at the same time. Check in was smooth. The staff was very friendly. They gave me a short tour upon check in. The beds were comfortable and had privacy curtains. They also have a light, fan, and electrical outlet inside your bed area so you can charge your phone while you sleep. They have a storage unit under the bed for your luggage. I didn’t get a lock but they did have the option of paying $5 for a lock. The restrooms and showers are top notch clean! For obvious reasons you can’t invite friends over, so if you have no friends or family in Denver, then absolutely stay here. If you do have friends in Denver that you intend on seeing, then maybe a hotel would be your better option. Outside of the room they have a commons area, they have a hot tub, nice patio area if you want to relax in some fresh air. They had a hot tea station! Plenty of plug-ins in the commons area as well! Including a dart board, guitars, Someone suggested to me Moe’s Bagels for breakfast and that was outstanding! There are alot or restaurants, coffee shops, fast food, and bars within walking distance. Scooter is about $7 to Ball Arena for Avalanche/Nuggets game. Uber/Lyft was about $10-$12. At checkout they let me leave my bag there at no cost and come back and get it later before my late flight out. I will stay again!
- 5/5
The hostel was an excellent host for the one night I stayed!
- 5/5
Evening about my stay was wonderful. I expect that sleepers would need earplugs if you aren't already hard off hearing like me, but Ember offers these for free! The staff are wonderful, the Establishment oozes charm, and the amenities are fantastic. I fully plan to stay at Ember Hostel again and again
- 5/5
Genuinely traditional.
- 5/5
From the moment I walked in the door until I left a few days later the staff was very friendly and always ready to help or offer tips on places to go. The building and sleeping arrangements were clean and comfortable. I've heard that sometimes you'll get noisy guests in your room, but that was not the case. The Ember Hostel staff host regular events throughout the week and invite all to attend. I came back from my evening downtown ready to unwind in the hot tub for the second night in a row and instead joined the group of guests for s'mores around the fire pit. It was a great atmosphere all around and I met some cool people from across the country! The location itself is great, very centrally located to anything you might want to do. 10/10 would recommend and I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Denver.

Amazing stay

Excellent checkin, condition, location , convenient parking, large hot tub patio, well appointed common area, Only reason missing 5 stars for me is I requested a lower bunk, but got a higher bunk with sketchy ladder handgrips.

This was my first time at a hostel! My stay wasn't long, but I would stay again. I loved that there was someone at the front desk 24/7, which was convenient for me since I checked out super early on a last-minute decision. The vibe was amazing and I appreciated getting a tour from the person from the front desk. They also provide locks for your personal items for a reasonable price. My only complaints are luggage storage and placemats in the bathrooms. They offer to store your luggage if you arrive before check-in which was great, but it's out in the open by the front desk. As much as I appreciate they hold my luggage, I would be more comfortable if it was locked away somewhere. But my stuff was there when I came back for check-in. When I went into one of the many bathrooms to shower, there were two placemats hanging on the railings. When I went to grab them to use them, they were completely soaking wet. I decided not to use them. Not big complaints, really loved this place.
