The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs during our 4 night stay. The beds were so comfortable it felt like we were home. There was Dove shampoo and body wash available to use. We booked a 2 room suite which was perfect for me and my teenage son. There was coffee, hot tea and lemonade available 24 hrs. The linens were soft they did not feel like typical hotel bedding and towels. We were pleased with our stay. We even had a view of the Eiffel Tower at Kings Dominion from our room. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.

The location is great if you are headed to Kings Dominion Park. During our stay, it didn’t appear they were doing active refurbishment work on the property yet there was a very large open face dumpster with many piles of rotting garbage on the north side of the building, which is one of the main entrances to the hotel. Also, I thought it was very odd this hotel does not offer a bathmat for the bathroom floor nor anywhere to hang up your towel in an effort to dry them if you choose to use them again. Double also, this hotel does not offer disposable plastic cups within the room nor an ice bucket to contain the ice which is offered on the first and third floors. It was these little attention to detail items which frustrated us during our otherwise enjoyable few days at this hotel.

The room we had was not cleaned well. There were a lot of hairs on the bathroom floor and sink when we arrived. I used one of the bathroom towels to clean up all the hair along the shower line and didn't think much else of it. Until I went to the bed. The bed was clean on the surface, but once you unfolded the top sheet from the fitted sheet there was a lot of dirt, and more hairs. Very gross. There was also what looked to be a cat treat near the bed, and a cough drop in its wrapper near the window. It seemed like they attempted to clean, but definitely need more attention to detail. Dirty bed is unacceptable.

Check in was excellent, the young man was friendly, prompt and efficient. The room itself was decent—the bed was comfortable, though the lighting was very dim. Our room looked into the woods, where a pool chair had been abandoned and was a creepy piece of the scenery. The bed and linens were clean, and the surfaces of the room itself appeared clean. The bathroom was the real crime scene. There were short, dark, curly hairs adhering to every surface. I am choosing to belief that I cleaned up someone’s short, dark, curly HEAD hairs, and not a strangers pubic hair. I have no idea how the bathroom was deemed clean and acceptable for the next guest, because it truly looked like Chewbacca had completed a detailed manscaping session mere moments prior to my arrival. Otherwise, the hotel and room were unremarkable. If it weren’t for the DNA left all over the bathroom, I’d give this place a 4 star rating.

The staff was friendly. The first room they put us in didn’t have a fridge and I have medicine that needs to stay cold. They kindly moved us to another room where the air wasn’t working, so they moved us one last time to a room that didn’t have a working tv. They offered to move us another time and we decided to stay at the hotel next door. We had stayed there before and they accommodated us right away. The staff was friendly when we left but there was no manager on site and he requested the staff reach out to one since we wanted a refund due to not even being n a room for an hour. The manager wouldn’t talk to my husband on the phone e and was very rude to the staff member. They also never said anything about the train that goes behind the hotel. The neighbor hotels inform you and provide ear plugs. They would refund me so I had to cancel with my credit card company.

The countertops were messy. There was trash laying in several places. The thermostat was difficult to figure out, finally kept messing with it until i figured it out. I never did figure out how to control volume on tv! The bathroom in our room hadnt been cleaned very well. The shower still had hair on the walls. Along with the body wash/shampoo from previous guests. The carpet in the hallways were stained and dirty. I just wasn't impressed with any of it.

We had a two night stay. Staff was friendly. Once we got into the room, someone had used to toilet and it had not been cleaned at all, brown toilet water and residue. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were large and firm. Think sleeping at a 90 degree angle. Very uncomfortable! Sleeper sofa was not sleepable, 3” mattress, at best, with springs. The worst part was waking up to a massive water leak with no hot water. Flooding on the first floor. No breakfast options. We stuck it out until 4pm, still with no hot water. We checked out. No compensation for the night we stayed. They did refund is for the night we didn’t stay.

We returned to the room to unpack and my daughter used the bathroom, when she washed her hands the sink stopper was down and it was not connected so the sink would not drain. We unpacked and were in the room about 45 minutes and no one from the desk came to fix the smoke detector. We were going to Kings Dominion for Halloween Haunt so we got ready and as we were leaving there was another lady at the desk, we told her about the smoke detector and the sink, she said she would take care of it. We proceeded over to the park until about 11:30, I was hoping all would be fixed when were arrived back, and it was, thankfully! We went to bed, however the air conditioner was extremely loud and the walls were very thin, I could hear the room next to us in the morning as their alarm went off as well as every conversation in the hall as if they were standing next to me in the room. At breakfast in the morning, which was very slim. My daughter got a yogurt and a bagel. There was no packages of cream cheese and the jelly/PB was is big bottles from the grocery store. That is completely unsanitary, you have no idea what was done to do it prior to your use. Walking back to our room since there was no room in the breakfast area to sit, a bug flew out of the bagel. Also no fridge in room.

We had avoided this hotel under its past ownership, but decided to give it another shot with Garner. They have made great improvements to the facility and the entire staff was amazing to interact with. If we had one suggestion, it would be to review the breakfast offerings and set up (while not lacking, it did seem to be a low point of the recent adjustments). Looking forward to staying here agian!

The room temp was good. The A/C responded well. The breakfast was not so good. The coffee machine would only dispense hot water. By 8 a.m. most of the food was gone. The sausage that was left was cold. There was cereal but no milk. In the bathroom the tub stopper did not work so the tub would fill up with water when trying to take a shower. Upon arrival our first room had broken curtains, so we had to be moved to another room. Then the second room had a broken toilet and a dirty shower with an old, dirty, and hard as a rock wash towel hanging on the curtain rod. They were supposed to have someone go and repair the toilet and they DIDN'T. We had to be moved into another room so there we go moving all our stuff all over again after being at the amusement park all day so yes we were exhausted. So we definitely will not be going there again. Oh and the second room even had a broken phone.

Reservation was booked under La Quinta and all follow up reservation details were labeled as La Quinta. Upon arrival there was no La Quinta. The hotel changed a couple of years ago but still booked reservations under La Quinta. They did not have my original reservation but was able to get me a room. The room was not comparable to the suite we originally reserved but the staff was as helpful as they could be. The pool was the entire reason we chose this hotel and to be told they no longer had it was incredibly frustrating to us but especially to our kids. We had no housekeeping services and always had to request when we needed more toiletries, trash bags, etc. It was clean, and the employees seemed friendly. I understand it's a transition period so I'll temper my comments. Check in was a disaster as the reservation wasn't in their system and they needed to use my phone to help find it. I was billed for three days rather than two. When I called to update the reservation it was very difficult as I could not understand the other person on the line. 1. Once entering the room we immediately checked the bed without touching the covers there was hair as if the sheets were not change. Pulling the sheets further down more was found. We thought okay we can get a new set of linens as we were only staying 1 night. 2. Went to the bathroom to check that out and more hair. As I was standing deciding if I wanted to request to be move or new linens I looked over to the door and there was a big gap between the door and the floor which rises concern for safe… I proceeded to the door and pulled the camera out and you can clearly see the gap. Which to me is unexpected!! I was truly surprised by all of these concerns as this hotel is so close to Kings Dominion where I assumed family’s may stay here… believe me when I say the price is nice but not when it comes to safety and cleanliness. In total from the time we walked in to the time we left was 20 minutes. We did inform the front desk associate that we will not be staying here as our room was not clean and the safety was a concern! The assistant stated he would try to give us a refund and if he could it would show tomorrow. Don’t risk your safety or money!!!!!!!

Upon arrival, we immediately felt unsafe and hoped all night that our car would go unharmed. (Thankfully it was fine.) Disturbingly, all of the doors were propped open with the latch because the key cards did not work! Therefore, we could not leave our room for fear our stuff would be stolen. Although the room was clean enough, this hotel is in complete disrepair. The stairwells smell like urine and the carpet in the hallways is disgusting. I would definitely recommend finding a different hotel, as this was the worst La Quinta we had ever experienced.

It took 30 minutes to checkin as the woman at the desk had never checked anyone in before and we had to wait for the manager to arrive. This last time the pool was closed because it was extremely disgusting. The key card didn’t work and we had to go back to the front desk where they brought a machine to hook up to the door to open it. I’m not sure about the cleanliness of the room but when we asked for toilet paper we thought we were going to have to go to target and buy some. Absolutely the worst, dirtiest, unkept hotel we have ever stayed at. Nobody ever at the front desk. Constantly having to wait for someone. We were given room 301 first. As soon as we opened up the door to the room we could tell immediately that the beds were not made and the room was not cleaned. Then they gave us room 327. There was no smoke detector on the wall. Just wires coming out of the wall. There was used soap still in the bathroom in the soap dish for the shower. The bed sheets were ripped. Furniture and doors were damaged. There was part of the wall that had been repaired but not painted with spackle not even sanded and painted over. At breakfast they ran out of mix for the waffles and we were told there was no more. The eggs were cold. There was no sausage or bacon. In general the hotels in disrepair and filthy. I went to check out. I explained all of this to the person checking me out. He then advised me that my payment was declined and he wanted another form of payment. I showed him where it was paid a week ago and had already come out of my credit card. So he tried to charge me twice, lying to me, telling me that my card was declined. Are you immediately used that same card to get gas with no issues. Nowhere near worth the money paid. Very dissatisfied.

Overall the hotel is clean. The room we were in was not as clean as one would expect. There were sticky spots on the floor and what I hope is spilled coffee splashed on the wall near the couch. The beds are rock hard and not very comfortable.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, but this was the worst. The room was dirty, a fly was flying around me all night and the pool looked terrible when I walked by it. The bed seemed like it was 6 inches thick but it was placed on a metal platform and if you moved you could hear the twang of the metal. There are other options in the area.

The room had a very strong smell of mildew. Stains on sheets. No washcloths and only 2 towels in a double king room. Large 2 inch gap under door. When asked for more towels, staff stated there were none. Electric outlets will not keep anything plugged in. Plugs just fall out. Hallway carpet is very dirty and the hallway smells very musty.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was. comfortable and room was clean enough. However, we were near the pool and the room smelled overwhelmingly of chlorine. The floor was tiled, no carpets. The chair in the room was filthy. Extremely few dining options in area. Except for a Mexican restaurant, one would have had to drive another six miles for a restaurant.

Hotel was overbooked so we had to be relocated to a hotel that was well below the minimum standard. Dead insects, no tv, no breakfast, and no water pressure in the shower. Never again will we book with La Quinta or any other hotel the parent company owns. POOR

We booked a Suite but they gave it away. They offered 2 rooms instead. Walking to the room the floor looked horrible, huge bad stains everywhere. Our room was no better. Floors half swept, dried “something” in the desk drawer. Pull out couch looks like it was 100 years old with rips in it. No light bulb in a floor lamp, which was the only light source in the part of the room. We were on 3rd floor and you could open the window with No guard… someone could fall out!

Apparently the hotel is getting a full room renovation starting in October. We were there during the off season so our experience may not be indicative of what it is like when the amusement park is fully operational but I believe it was not what I expected from a LaQuinta.

We arrived around 5:30; they hadn't finished cleaning our room. The suite was spacious, but dated, and smelled musty. The carpets were kind of gross to walk on in bare feet, although the condition of the suite itself was relatively clean. The complimentary soaps were tiny, and they neglected to throw away the used soap (found them in the tub on the soap shelf) from the previous guest. The included breakfast was underwhelming. Apparently they ran out of coffee before we arrived. That didn't bother me, as I don't drink coffee. They had a waffle maker, which produced decent waffles. They had some powdered eggs and turkey sausage as well. The eggs and sausage were depleted, yet no one came to replenish them while my family was in the breakfast area (:30-40 or so, probably.) There seemed to be a total of two or three workers, including the manager, present and working while we were there. This was not my favorite hotel, even in this price range. It was very mediocre.

Great price for a hotel that accommodated my family and with breakfast included. However, upon arrival, the lobby area reeked of mildew, room were not very clean and appeared dingy, breakfast was a nightmare due to the amount of guest and lack of food. Breakfast was the worst part because it was like competing vultures, looking for scraps of food and waiting over half an hour for simple things like eggs and meat to come out, not to mention that the food was released stagnated. Once the food came, everyone was racing to it and fighting for it. So someone would get eggs and then I had to wait another 20 minutes or so to fight again for sausage. No breads, bagels yogurt, oatmeal or fruit to eat as a alternative option. Lines for food were long and it felt intense due to guest competing for a meal. My family of five wasn’t able to get any food to eat. We ended up leaving and going to Waffle House for breakfast.

It was a movie nightmare. We were greeted with a man with a pitbull in front of the lobby. Once we checked in, the room was stink, dark and hot, the a/c was not left on. The elevator was creeking and unstable. The lobby reaked of chlorine. The pool was unusable and looked disgusting. We were celebrating a 16th birthday, which was a nightmare. There was a man in the hallway in his underware walking with his laundry. This place is nothing like its photos. I canceled the room and the remaining days and drove for an hour to Home2 suites. I have never in my traveling years ever experienced something so disgusting.

The menu for breakfast was the same every day and there was no juice or water. Only coffe and milk for drink. There were 2 men at the front desk who were not professional nor polite. There was an argument between the front desk man and a customer when I lined up for checking in. The customer who wanted to buy 4 candy bars got upset and left because the front desk man kept changing the prices. Later that day, My husband asked him to get a bed sheet and he said $10. My husband didn't want to pay $10 so he left and told me about it. While he was talking to me, the front desk man got a bed sheet and gave it to my husband and said it was a joke. So frustrating! The pool was not clean and you would feel it has lots of chemicals in there. My kids and other kids played in the pool complained that their eyes hurt. When we checked out, there was a lady at the front desk along with the same front desk man. I didn't want to talk to him so I went to the lady to check out. She was nice and polite while the man wasn't still.

This was the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty sticky carpet, wet around the refrigerator, rings on the night stands, dust on the head board, dirty with dead bugs on window sill, holes in curtains, dirt in drawers, sofa was dirty and stained. We complained and the manager said he would give us points and a discount but that never happened. Initially our card key did not work so he had to come to the room and fix it. We showed him the carpet but he didn’t seem to really care. We asked for another room and he had none available. There was only one bath towel and no washcloths. They gave us wash cloths but said they had no towels until the next morning when housekeeping came in. It was the worst experience we’ve had a hotel. It was a lot of money for such a dirty stinky hotel. Hallways smelled like pot, cigarettes and filth.

The manager is very friendly he genuinely cares about his guests. The rest of the staff were ok but the manager was the best. The 3rd floor halls smelled so good. Our room smelled good as well. Our air conditioner leaked in the floor and our refrigerator didn’t work but they brought a new refrigerator up as soon as I reported. The maintenance guy was at my room waiting for me when I reported the air conditioner leak very quick response to any issues. I would recommend this hotel and avoid the assistant manager if you have an issue go to the Main manager.

Lots of mold in bathrooms walls floor and celing. Floors not vacuumed. Pictures online are not the pictures of actual hotel. No gym or business center. They say they are under construction . They are not. pool is thick with algae. No breakfast left at 8 am. Cockroachs in tub. Person at desk you can see hates her job and is very rude. All the furniture in the rooms atleast 20 years old so dirty and stained. The sofa bed can not be used all the springs are broken and really gross. if you are planning on usng the sofa bed as a bed. Please bring a blow up mattress. This is worse than a motel 6. These people should be ashamed. I tried this motel a couple of times to see if it would get better. They know they can get reservations because of king dominion. Dont stay there find something farther out.
