Good hotel.

The rooms are always clean when we stay here. The staff is always courteous and welcoming. Parking is easy for the most part if other vehicles do not block the steps going to the walkways. Air conditioning worked great, showers always have good pressure. The Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel has very good food with great prices. Perfect place to stay after a day at Kings Dominion!

The room was very clean and recently renovated. Comfortable and quiet stay. Friendly front desk staff. Powerful water pressure for a great shower. Convenient location. Great price.

The room was clean and furniture seemed modern. Staff was welcoming and nice. Parking was easy. Room had fridge and microwave which is helpful. Didn’t get to explore property cause I got in late and left early. Would definitely stay again.

My only complaint was the bed. Very hard, and the pillows were very small. However, a friend who was also staying there said her bed was fine. The convenience factor to the park and to the fairgrounds is a major plus. No getting on I-95 to get to either

Hair dryer didn’t work, the floor was still soaking wet after they “mopped,” and to top it all off the hotel was robbed in the middle of the night with over 20 police officers on scene. Definitely not the relaxing stay we expected. We will never stay there again.

Not a ton of amenities but it’s been updated. Very clean. Good enough for one night after being at King’s Dominion all day. Would not do a long stay here but it’s fine for what we need. Slept great. Mattresses were comfortable.

I was pleased to stay at Red Roof in with my dog for the show in Doswell . Easy access to my vehicle, lots of grass for dog walking and no pet fee !!

My family of 4 stayed for 3 nights 4 days. We reserved a room with two beds and a kitchenette. After check in, which was minimally guiding, we arrived to our room. First thing we noticed was the floors, they were not cleaned prior to our arrival. There were dead bugs(spiders and some random bugs), food crumbs and hair all over the floor, especially behind the beds. The heater/ac was covered in dirt and hair and the filter was caked with dirt(we had to clean it before trying to use it to heat up the room as it was a little chilly) their appeared to be baking soda dumped into the intake and even after cleaning, it smelled horrible and we turned it off. The microwave was broken and un usable. The one dining chair was stained with a brownish red substance. There was crumbs and food remains on the sitting chair. The hand soap dispenser was empty and the bathroom was dated and falling apart in the shower and floor. When turning on the water it came out yellow at first then cleared up. It was late so we just went to the store and cleaned up the space ourselves. The last night we were there, there was a strong foul odor that would not go away, i actually packed the car and contemplated leaving around midnight. Since the main reason we stayed was due to being there for kings dominion and main need was sleeping we didn't make a big deal of it. But I wouldn't recommend this place unfortunately and will not be returning

Not enough tv channels and its right next to Kings Dominion

Completely adequate for a place to sleep when you’re spending the day at Kings Dominion. It’s not fancy, but I wasn’t expecting it to be.

Pet friendly hotel with direct access from room to the outside making it easy to take our dog outside as needed. No pet fee for a single dog. Spacious room, however room with toilet and shower very small, but not a dealbreaker. Room had small fridge, microwave, cable tv,beds were comfortable. There is a Mexican restaurant next door that allowed us to bring our dog inside! Very easy access to hotel from route 95 Rooms are reasonably priced, although that probably changes when the amusement park next door is open for the season.

Good hotel for overnight stay at Kings Dominion. Room in good shape. Shower drain was very slow, but good hot water. Slept well and hit the road next day, served its purpose.

Room service guy was the best honest and respectful

The front staff was very nice and accommodating. The rooms were clean. However, the last night the smoke detector was chirping. we were advised to take it down and take the battery out. If we needed help to hit zero on the phone. The problem is there was not a phone in the room however we did take the battery out. The property was quiet and clean, and we felt safe.

The rooms smell very musty and they were not clean. Would not recommend staying here for multiple nights.

This is a classic motel with room doors on the outside and no elevator. The property was well taken care of. It all looked like it had been remodeled not too long ago and was kept clean. I thought the bed was comfortable and the TV worked. There was no parking the first night for some reason, but I was able to park at an adjoining property. Our bathtub was clogged the first night, but a man came and fixed it as soon as I reported the problem. Basically, if you can get it at a cheap price, you should be happy enough with it, but there are probably nicer properties nearby.

The shower water ran brown for the first minute or two, probably from rust. Water damage from the floor above damaged the ceiling and was painted over. No soap or shampoo in the dispensers. No daily cleanings of the room or collection of dirty towels in a 2 night stay. Overall, the property shows its age, most likely 50 years old. Renovations are superficial; paint, laminate floors, new light fixtures. Staff was friendly though.

The room was not clean. There was still old food and spilled soda in fridge. Door had a gap in it that let in cold air. Heater sounded like a diesel tank engine.

The room was clean. The linens were new and fresh. The bathroom was very small but clean enough. The rooms seem to have been recently refreshed. Most importantly, to me, there are no rugs! It was fine for our overnight stay as we were passing through. We would stay again when traveling.

Not a disabled handicapped friendly venue. When I requested a room on the 1st floor due to difficulties in climbing steps I was old my reservation was on the 2nd floor, 3 flights of stairs up. Told they could not move me down to 1st floor unless I paid $51 extra. I would never use this motel again nor use EXPEDIA in the future for being associated to such an unfriendly venue for the disabled. Shame on EXPEDIA and Red Roof.

It was perfect after a long day at Kings Dominion. It was so close, you could walk to the park if you don't want to pay for parking.

Great location for access to Kings Dominion (walkable to the entrance), but the property itself is clearly old and run down. Our bed was old & squeaky, and temperature controls in the room were sparse, so we had trouble getting the room comfortable (either way too hot or way too cold).

Overall the hotel is clean and quiet place but the stuff isn’t the most helpful when it comes to getting clean towels and bedding. We stayed a total of the 8 of the 10 days planned we decided to leave early bc there were a few people that were staying there that seem to be long term guest that started to make us feel uncomfortable sitting outside the rooms all hours of the night and would walk back and forth by rooms

Clean although issues with the shower overflowing into the bathroom. It was slippery after the shower and I almost fell. Otherwise it was fine all else was clean.

It was ok for the price and a short stay but the floors were a bit dirty. Lady that checked us in was very nice. Could use more channels on the tv. There were only 5 or 6. The shower had good water pressure. The refrigerator needs help. Terrible to try to open and close the door on it. Bed ok. The Mexican restaurant next door was ok but the salsa that comes with the chips could be a lot better. The beer was cold. The server had a hard time understanding English it seemed. There is nowhere much to eat breakfast or dinner in that area outside of kings dominion. We found ourselves going to Ashland for meals.

As close as you can get to Kings Dominion. But the motel style rooms let a lot of flies in. The bathroom is in disrepair and the soap dispensers were difficult to get any liquid out of. The beds were not very comfortable, not enough pillows, and the ac was quite loud.

The location was good. It was quiet enough, clean enough, friendly and definitely plenty cheap. I would definitely stay here again.

Outlet to the hairdryer would not work, but it was fastened to the wall so you couldn't use it. Parking was out front and room was not easy to get to with everything you needed to bring in.

We always have a great day at the Red Roof Inn Doswell/Kings Dominion. The outlet in the bathroom did not work but there was one right outside the door next to the Mirror. Other than that we had an awesome stay.

The room appears clean upon first arriving. Quickly found dirty socks left from a previous guest. They weee in plain sight so there is no way they could have been overlooked from the cleaning staff. The cable was pit for the duration of our stay. Not weather related.

This place was absolutely disgusting. The rooms have black mold on the ceiling from water leaks, the room barely cools because the wall unit air conditioner is so old, the bath tub has sediment stains, the toilet ran nonstop and was barely attached to the wall (so it tilted forward with a loud bang every time you sat on it), there was LITERALLY a giant spider/web stemming from the bed to the night stand, just a hotel in desperate need of remodeling. I would highly recommend against staying here.

Cheap, convenient, but housekeeping did not clean out refrigerator from previous guest, Dish tv was not working and AC was not turned on when we entered, took about 5hrs to cool off.

The hotel was very clean and really convenient for going to Kings Dominion. The only issue was with the Wi-Fi connection. It was occasionally intermittent which caused issues getting work done on Monday. I was here for a work event and an employee appreciation party at Kings Dominion. All of the individuals at the hotel were extremely friendly and informative. If you're going to Kings Dominion it's definitely worth a stay.

The room was okay for the price. Wasn’t the cleanest, and the beds were comfortable. Depending on the time of day and if other people and other rooms were using the shower, depended on if you were able to have hot water or not. Late in the afternoon/evening there was no hot water.

Odd smell to the room. Front lobby attendant was very attentive and addressed our concerns. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Overall room appeared to be clean. Location was great! Directly across from Kings Dominion.

Stay was great until the end. At the end my wife and I woke up to having no outlets and our phones dead. Tried calling the front desk to try and get this fixed little did I know my room phone did not work. I walked to the front desk in the pouring rain, again because the phones did not work. I was able to speak to a front desk representative named Emy who was to the most least of help. She stated she needed to see if it worked and then came to my room and worked her way in to check and proceeded to yell at my wife and I because we wanted it fixed and to speak with a manager. Emy proceeded to be rude throughout the process until checkout time.

Nicest Red Roof Inn I've ever been to. SO clean, well-lit, easy check-in and out, and my puppy stayed free! Only issue was that the air conditioning apparently let a lot of humidity in, because every morning I woke up with my hair glued to my head. LOL! Small price to pay for such a wonderful visit. Perfect location, perfect accommodation. I will be back in November for more dog shows!

I stayed here for 1 night with my granddaughters for a day at Kings Dominion. It was a perfect location, clean and safe. It looks like they take care of the property. I was pleasantly surprised and I would stay again if I was going to Kings Dominion.

Some of the rooms had inside chairs sitting outside,very tacky. The worst part is about 11:30 at night and the water in the room stopped working I called the front desk and they said they were working on it. I went to bed the next morning I woke up and the water was running again but it came out with a lot of air so thank goodness I chose to brush my teeth with a bottle of water but I did shower unfortunately. I left the hotel and went across the street to a convenience store to get some ice for my cooler and saw a sign on their door that a water main had broken and there was a boil advisory. So it's absolutely disgusting that the hotel did not warn their guests not to drink or use that water My plan on contacting the department of health

Facility not well managed. Trash all over exterior areas. Shower/bath drain plug broken off and sitting on side of tub. Shower gel dispenser fell off wall of shower when touched. Local watermain break caused boil advisory and shut down nearby Kings Dominion park for two days. Facility never notified any of the lodgers. Found outfrom local news. Overall a terrible experience. Decided to give it a second try, but even more disappointed. Never again.

Arrived at 9:30 AM from a 9 hour drive. Asked the counter worker about possible early check in. He informed me the room was not ready, and was really intrigued if I was going to Kings Dominion. Turns out there was a water main break THE DAY BEFORE. This guy knew two things, he knew the water was contaminated and he knew Kings Dominion would be closed all day. He never divulged that information. They put one single sign up in the lobby at the request of the water commissioner, none on doors of the units, none on the ice machine, none on the water fountain. Don’t stay here

Room was clean, customer service was excellent.

The bed and pillows were perfect. You can tell that they gave it a good try fixing the place up. Only stayed for the bed and being tired. Coffee maker was not cleaned and had "old" coffee bag still inside. Disappointing.

The first room had a smoky smell in my wife has to change. We quickly received a new room and that room had a cockroach. We then called hotels.com which gave us a full refund and helped us book a new hotel somewhere else.

Always have good stay here. The parking situation stinks I will say it again... there should be YELLOW X's in front of the walkways/steps in the #400 block of rooms. Cars and construction vehicles should not be allowed to park there. It's very difficult to climb over a railroad tie and walk up wet grass and make your room floor slippery! The parking lot is my only complaint of this hotel. There are plenty of parking spaces there there's no reason for people to park in front of the steps. The Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel is a nice addition to the area and the food is very good and reasonably priced.

Stayed for a trip to KD and Busch Gardens. Great price, good quality room and an overall good experience!

Toilet was cracked. My husband is very tall and it was very short.the floor was gross did not take my socks of to put my flip flps until i got back in our truck

The room itself was average. Relatively clean. It said non smoking but still smelled like cigarettes some. That may have just been from outside though. The bathroom was tiny but serviceable. The finish on the tub was peeling quite a bit and the toilet needed to be secured better to the floor. Again though, serviceable. The beds were comfortable. The AC was great. Abd the TV, while not having a ton of channels, at least had Netflix on it. Overall, average stay for a reasonable price.

Great location to Kings Dominion, the room was quite adequate. There was a fridge and microwave in the room that was a bonus.

The grass was taller than the dogs. The refrigerator wasn’t even cool. Got up in the morning and the refrigerator leaked water all over the floor. The shower head wouldn’t turn on. Therefore no show before hitting the road. Will NOT book on the trip home in 3 weeks.

I specifically booked this hotel for use of the fridge but when I turned the lights on, two small roaches ran across the stove area. In the fridge there were a few dead roaches. Then my daughter found a very large roach on the floor. The check in process was good and the man there was nice but that changed when we wanted a refund so we could stay at a different hotel.

Honestly was alittle sketched out about the place just based on the look of the outside (looking like a typical rough hotel) but honestly the inside looked very updated apart from the very tiny toilet/shower area with not a whole lot of water pressure. But very happy that it was clean, bug FREE and cheap compared to other areas. This placed is located on the same exit as Kings dominion like you can see coasters from parking lot. No true breakfast area but not really a big deal for our stay. Would recommend.

We were place in room 419. The bathroom door would not shutas it was hung crooked. The toilet was missing a floor bolt and the other was loose so the toilet rocked when sitting on it. The bathroom vent fan was inoperable. Caulk was peeling in the tub/shower enclosure. The desk clerk said the bathroom had recently been remodled. Owners should get thier money back.The two queen beds were unbalance and actually slipped off the foundation. The refridgerator was placed on an ill-fitting plastic pan which caused the door not to shut properly until you manhandled the fridge and forced the pan back until the fridge teetered on the pan allowing the door to shut. Exterior paint and landscaping were awful.

Exactly what I would expect from $100 a night motel. There are lots of little things that can improve experience that cost little or no money to fix.

This Red Roof adjacent to Kings Dominion is just average, not bad, but nothing exceptional which I expected for this price point. If you are looking for a budget friendly hotel that is close enough to walk to Kings Dominion this is worth a look

It is what it is. We booked for the convenience of being able to walk to Kings Dominion. Pool wasn’t open. Property was “clean enough”. Toilet wobbled, shower fixtures were falling off, tv needed to have the input reset every time it was turned off. AC was very loud. But it’s a cheap stay close to the park so … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Everything was fine

The entrance to the parking lot is a little wonky, and we missed it once or twice in the dark, but definitely wasn't a dealbreaker. There was some small maintenance stuff, like the toilet not being sturdy, and we couldn't unstopper the sink, so the water drained really slowly. Things that come with an older building. We will definitely stay here if we ever head back to the Richmond area.

What a wonderfully clean place

I had low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. The room seems to have been recently renovated and it was beautiful. I will definitely stay here again on my frequent travel through the area.

We always have a great stay at the Red Roof Inn Doswell. The only issues we had were the parking situation, the areas in front of the steps should have a yellow X on them so cars don't park there. It's difficult to climb the hill around a car that is blocking the steps. Also our room was missing the TV remote. The front desk gentleman who was very sweet, came to our room and tried to get a remote to work. He was not successful but it was no fault of his own. We were just grateful that someone tried. We were offered another room, but this was not a reason to move rooms. This is definitely NOT an issue that would deter us away from staying again.... we will be back.

Clean, safe (lots of lighting outside), right next to Kings Dominion. Perfect for what I needed: a place to sleep. Got there at 10pm, left at 7am, and back on the road. A no frills place and I would go back for the price it is.

Room was perfect for a weekend trip to KD, easy check in and easy to walk to park from hotel. Beds were comfy and recent renovations were nice, bathroom/showers show the age of building but everything was clean and usable. The only downside was no breakfast option, but we would stay here again!

The room was clean, the furniture was all new, I liked that the floor were not covered with old filthy carpet but with modern vinyl planks. The only complain - wifi did not work properly, constantly disconnecting and the containers on the wall for soap and shampoo were empty both in the bathroom and near the sink - what's the point of those containers if they are empty?

We were just passing through and found the room comfortable and we had a comfortable nights rest.

I only stayed here one night and got here late,however I found the hotel to be an excellent place to stay at a great price. The gentleman who checked me in was friendly and efficient. The room was clean, in good condition, and equipped with a microwave, fridge, and a coffee machine with coffee for the next morning. The bathroom was clean. The only not-so-great thing was the toilet was very slow to drain even with nothing being flushed. Luckily I had dish soap but had to use it each time flushing. Other than that I enjoyed my stay here and the person I hooked up with sure enjoyed me, especially with easy access from the outside making it discreet. I would highly recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again.

The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful when we had an issue with our television. The bed was very squeaky but the updated room was very clean and well-appointed, and the price was terrific.
