Best Western Plus BWI Airport Hotel / Arundel Mills

Check in was a breeze and I found the hotel interiors to be fresh and clean, as well as my room. While the hotel is close to the airport, it is far enough removed from the freeway that there was no noise. I slept like a baby on a comfortable bed. Before I turned in for the night, I slipped across the driveway to a very nice Italian restaurant that serves delicious food and has a good bar that was tended by a delightful gentleman named Paul. My drinks were excellent and the atmosphere was entertaining. In my mind, this restaurant is the one amenity that makes this hotel a hidden gem. I hope I never have to be in a situation where I have to make in unplanned stay by BWI, but if I do I will not hesitate to seek out this Best Western, again.

Our room didn’t have a bathmat so we used out hand towels for the floor. The dispenser rack in the shower meant to hold shampoo, conditioner and body wash was without bottles and was rusted. There was not an exhaust fan in the bathroom leading to an extensive amount of steam and mirrors that were non functional. From a basic hygiene point of view having a non slip mat that suction cups to the wall between guests is ridiculous, they would have to be soaked in bleach in order to be sanitized. But wait! There’s more! We spent Saturday at a music festival and returned to find there had been zero housekeeping performed in our room. No towels, all trash intact from the morning and bed not made. I went to the front desk for towels and shampoo, I’ve gotten used to having them in the shower dispenser but please refer to the empty rusty rack referred to above. Single use mini bottles had been provided for night one. At the front desk I asked if there was a policy that guests needed to request daily housekeeping, I’ve never encountered that but figured I would check. I was told no, it’s automatic. On Sunday we went to the festival and returned to find two days worth of towels and trash. The rude man at the desk said we need to call daily if we want our room “refreshed” Don’t even start me on the continental breakfast farce. Save yourselves, don’t book here.

Everything was good. The breakfast was ok the eggs were cold but they brought out new ones within 6 minutes.

Good parking. Place and pub in front of the hotel We chose this hotel primarily because of the pool for our children, but during our entire two-day stay the pool was either overcrowded, dirty, or closed. The room refrigerator was broken, nobody came to fix it, and I ended up repairing it myself. To make matters worse, when we raised concerns, the reception staff responded aggressively and even threatened to remove us from the hotel. I travel frequently and this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had.I would have booked elsewhere. The building itself is not the problem. The problem is poor management, lack of maintenance, and staff who treat guests with hostility instead of professionalism. Fix those issues, and the hotel would provide a completely different experience.

The location was good and the staff were helpful, mainly the breakfast ones. Unfortunately, We had many problems during our stay. First of all, the property is in a very different condition as presented in the pictures, the building in old and needs a big remodeling, including elevators, pool (looked dirty) but it was in the rooms our biggest disappointment. First we got a room that was very very dirty, with trash behind the TV stand (and we could easily see it) gum stuck on the carpet, and many spots of dirtiness in the carpet all around. The bathroom had many hairs on the bath/ shower, and I still can’t understand why they place the coffee machine on the bathroom sink counter… that’s disgusting! The curtains were falling, the windows were very dirty too. The beds were ok, but the pillow cases had a bad smell (resembling smoke). I asked for another room, and they gave me another when I showed the pictures of these problems. But the other one was not very clean either, there was a toilet seat broken, and we did not have the shampoo and body wash bottles in the shower either. The carpet was less dirty, so we decided to accept it. The only day I asked for the room cleaning, the did not do, so I had to go downstairs to pick towels and even toilet paper, we also had to take out our trash ourselves. The breakfast service is continental, so very basic, and always very busy because the space is very small. We also felt kind of unsafe there, as the night receptionist said she was alone there, which is not right, and one night, around 1am, other guests were screaming and shouting, and nobody would do anything about it. I stayed in many other Best Western hotels before, in the US and Europe, and this was the worst ever!

Breakfast was underwhelming. Quite poor by all other complimentary breakfasts I have had before. Plan to have coffee and a bagel here but not much else

Convenient location. Breakfast was standard - scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast, cereal , bagels, juice and coffee. Great price.

This is our fifth time staying here. Rooms are clean, breakfast is delicious, gym, pool, and sauna well kept. Will definitely stay here again !

Disappointing

The room smelled of urine. Mold on the ceilings and walls. Rusted toilet paper holders. Unable to connect to the google cast option. Light bulbs out or flickering. Restaurant is not in the hotel; it’s across the parking lot. Definitely not as what was advertised or what the pictures looked like.

We enjoyed our stay because the staff was very pleasant and accommodating to the couple requests that we had however. the property could use a refresh. The lamp in our room was broken at the bottom and the light in the entry was was like a strobe light that we had to keep it off. We advised the front desk staff as soon as we settled in the room. Breakfast choices were minimal however there was coffee readily available at any given time.

Front desk seem like they hate their job. Saw 2 roaches in the room. Gym smelled horrible. The no smoking 🚭 didnt matter it smelled of smoke all throughout the lobby and first floor. The housekeeping leave their car in the middle of floor

Overall a great stay! The only issue I had was the super soft mattress. That's the only problem I had. It was clean and up to date, the staff were friendly and the overall impression was positive. Definitely will be my go to hotel

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. They offer a free hot breakfast that was good. Shuttle service available. Very good restaurant/bar next door. Gym is okay if you are creative. The smith machine cables are broken. The not as good: No streaming options on the TV. We had issues with the TV but weren't in the room long enough to bother with asking to have it fixed or swapped out. 4th floor has no ice machine as signage indicates. Pool water looks very dark. It may just be the color of the tiles? Overall, for the price I would recommend.

Hotel was the perfect location near the airport, and the shuttle was an added bonus. There was a restaurant next door (part of the property) we did not get a chance to try it but saw lots of people dining in. The breakfast was decent, it was the same food daily; it would have been nice to have a mix of protein other than sausage links. We had to ask twice for the room to be cleaned, upon our second request it was stated that had to be requested before 9am, they failed to mention that the first time we called other than that hotel was a good deal for price point.

My last review was not accurate because I didn’t check the room very well. For the price you pay you have everything you need in one place: a mini fridge, microwave, free wifi and breakfast plus a pool and sona room to indulge yourself. Great and professional staff always willing to help with your needs so what more could you ask for plus a great location

My room wasn’t cleaned well. It was black long hair on pillows & in tub. Carpet was filthy. It was a half eaten roll underneath chair in room. Pulled up front to unload husband in wheelchair & luggage & this man rudely told me I had 1 hour to move or I would be towed, He didn’t identify himself. Asked who he was & he said the General Manager. Couldn’t tell by way he looked. Dirty wrinkled clothes, no name tag. Not friendly at all. Best Western never again.

Location is good with the Stained Glass Pub restaurant next door. Breakfast included. My particular room (104) was very disappointing. As soon as I walked in, there was a musty, stale odor. I found the carpeting in the entry area was damp, which was probably the result of the odor and got my socks wet when walking. I was also disappointed seeing numerous long black hairs on the bathroom floor along with a few small pieces of paper/debris. How had this not been swept up?? Lastly, when getting into bed and looking at the ceiling, there was a spider casually walking along right over my head. Certainly couldn't sleep with that so he was caught and flushed. Left wondering if he had company....

Break

The breakfast was really good! The staff were so nice, the rooms were really clean. The pool was always empty because I think the water was too cold but really enjoyable.

The indoor pool is NOT heated. Other than that, 10/10 stay. You can control the air conditioner in the room and it is not governed so that is my main requirement for a hotel and they met it. Hot outside and room got to the temp we set for the AC.

Monday morning breakfast had no fruit, salt, or pepper. Friday had no salt and pepper. They will not clean your room unless you request it. Many school tours use the hotel. It might be a little loud. I had to ask them to quiet down after 10 PM.

I love it here the only is the parking is always full but other than that it’s amazing they have big screen tvs in your room. The pool is big. They are friendly. The breakfast was nice and hot

The breakfast was eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast, and bagels. The eggs and potatoes looked barely cooked. Activia yogurt, bananas, and apples. Milk, juice, coffee, and tea. We had no water for 5 hours because of maintenance issues and the staff did not know when the water would be back on. So we couldn't use the bathroom or shower or bathe.

Good location, great breakfast

The Breakfast was OK ... the sausage gravy was ... well just ... not good. The biscuit was good ... not quite as fresh as it could have been. Apple Juice was great as was the cereal and Bagel ... the eggs need help. Fix the gravy (better recipe and better ingredients) put out biscuits fewer at a time ... will keep them fresher by increasing the turnover. Use a different egg formula. Thanks for your attention.

Bed sheets and towels were cheap and dirty. Pool was freezing. Breakfast was extremely minimal and cold. Rooms are not updated or modern at all. Only positive I have was that the staff was pleasant. Would not stay again.

Didn’t have breakfast

Had to pay $40 for 3 nights parking. Breakfast was subpar. Weak coffee, dried scrambled eggs. No meat choices. No waffles. Shuttle driver not friendly. Only time he spoke is when we gave him a tip. Our return flight was delayed so our arrival was after 10pm. Called to have shuttle pickup and was told they stopped at 10. Had to get a taxi back to hotel which cost $23.00. It would be helpful if the hotel posted shuttle hours. The booking price was $140.00, but ended up being over $200. Will not be staying here again.

Hotel rooms were nasty with stained mattresses and sheets. They made no accommodations. The hallways was full of marijuana smoke odor. Also they’re was very little parking available due to sharing the lot with outside businesses. I was afraid if I left I wouldn’t have any parking, I had to take a Lyft and order delivery most of my stay. This was a horrible experience for me!!

Hotel was ok. It was nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was very limited, had the essentials. There was no shampoo or conditioner, bottles were empty. Was there for 3 nights and housekeeping did not come in.

Airport shuttle was very good and every staff member I encountered were friendly and helpful.

This was a last minute decision to stay overnight , after a long day of traveling back home. We realized once we got into Baltimore that we needed to rest up before traveling home to Cumberland Md over the mountains. For overnight it was fine, we really did not use the amenities they had available. The Morning Breakfast was fine. It was the normal standard continental. Nothing to brag about, really it was something to eat when traveling on.

The first room we stayed in the sheets were dirty, then we complained, we were given another room, the second room had a clogged toilet and nothing was done and afterwards the bathroom got flooded from the toilet and when we complained the staff was very rude, told us we can plunged the toilet ourselves and refused to wake up the manager on duty. Told us we can go somewhere else if we are not happy with the hotel. The worst nightmare ever. After a lot of complaints she reluctantly gave us a different room and threw the keys at my husband.All this happened within 2 hours of our arrival. It was supposed to be a Valentine’s Day getaway and our 28th wedding anniversary!

Room was great- staff was very nice …manager very kind and helpful. Breakfast good…pool was very very nice. My grandkids loved it. Booked another stay in April!. Thank you for a very nice “adventure” for my grandkids!

This place was LOUD! I could hear vacuums at like 8:30 AM while we were trying to sleep. The place was mobbed. They had benches right outside the front doors and automatic doors, so people were congregating right outside and smoking. Omg the smell. The whole lobby stunk to high heaven. My kids wanted to play a boardgame at a table in the lobby and ended up just coming up to bed. The place was adequate, but not great. Felt very outdated. Dark and dingy carpets, brown and orange color schemes. The shower had hair in it and didn't have any body wash and someone left a sample toothpaste on top of the coffee maker.... which was sitting on the bathroom sink. Yuck yuck yuck. I wouldn't stay here again. This made me really question the cleanliness of the whole room.

The room had some questionable stains on the ceiling and furniture. We got two queen beds but the beds seem smaller.

Friendly staff. The indoor pool looked very appealing but the water was cold due to a broken heater with parts on order. Breakfast was good, however it was exactly the same each day. Spacious seating in the breakfast dining area. Good coffee. Convenient and free shuttle service to and from BWI airport. The building does have an elevator. Beds are small and pillows are rather firm. Rollaway beds are not allowed. Very good location with a bar/ restaurant just steps from the property. Ample parking.

Got there late but found room to be pleasant, clean, comfortable bed. Breakfast offerings were limited but okay.

The room was nice, and the convenience of being close to BWI was nice. Only small complaint was someone outside was playing loud music that had a baseline that ran right through my chest. And I realize that the management can’t control those outside.

There was a long blonde hair present stretched over the alarm clock. The pillows on the bed were like boulders. There was a “rumble” similar to a motor running possibly originating from a unit on the roof located outside of my window. The air conditioning unit was inadequate and did not keep the room cool. It also was very noisy when it turned on. A high pitched tone occurred periodically throughout the night, possibly originating from the refrigerator. There was no shower gel or shampoo in the dispensers in the bathroom.

No ventilation in bathroom, Very wide gap beneath the room door. Not enough blankets/covers. Pillows were uncomfortable. Television you had to use your phone to get a channel. My stay was a complete disaster.

Property staff seemed a bit overwhelmed but friendly. Transportation to cruise port was great. Food cribs on floor between bed and nightstand upon arrival and stains on bath mat towel. Breakfast choices not like other Best Westerns and definitely unable to keep up with guest flow.

Booked here for airport shuttle service and indoor pool. Pool too cold. Ride to airport was great as well as the driver. Room 235 could use a deep clean behind beds and entertainment center and lamp shades. Guestcast feature on tv did not work. A qr code should've cone up and it didn't so i wasnt able to cast my own services. Also extension cords were very finicky. My son had to go down on the floor to flip the activation switch. Also phone in room was not hooked up or dead.

Toilet was clogged, but they let me use their plunger, i did it myself, the body wash was empty and there was just a little bit of shampoo, pool was very cold, coffee was not that good, they need to get another brand, breakfast was 4/10 it tasted and looked raw and undercooked. A pro though is that the bed and pillows are very comfortable

Property was fine room was terrible. Room had mold and everything was damp. No body wash. Toilet paper was damp. No mat for shower. Sink water drained very slow. Our clothes were damp the next morning.

Breakfast not so good, the pool was not heated, the sauna did not work, the gym was nice accept they did replace the cleaning wipes, and water dispenser did not work Staff was nice. Overall it wasn't a bad stay for what I needed. The restaurant across is very good too.

The Airport shuttle was not as advertised. A lady in a wheelchair was left waiting in the ordinary meeting point for the shuttle , but they refused to come down to collect all of us and only would take us if we got ourselves upstairs to the dropoff point within 5 minutes. very poor customer service.

Indoor Pool was COLD AS ICE. And its July.. Changed Rooms Three times because Sink water wouldn't work..in the first two Rooms.

Outside appearance and price was good but once inside the nightmare began, vending machine takes money, ice machine breaks in 90*+ heat, sinks backing up and falling apart and this is the 1st day of 4 days…..told the staff at front desk immediately and no one ever came to even check on it nor did they even offer to change our room. Was looking forward to the pool and sauna/steam room to relax but the nightmare continues, water was cloudy and overly chlorinated, slimy greenish stuff around the floors and no towels you’ll have to find somebody and ask for one if you need it sauna was ok but if you expect steam good luck finding it because not a chance!!!! Oh one last thing I need to know, do housekeeping not come around daily to see if you want your room cleaned and towels replenished anymore because 1 set of towels per person for 4 days is DIABOLICAL!!!! Especially when I had use them to dry off from the pool……hopefully this helps someone

Ice machines was not working on all of the floors. Only one elevator was working and until it was close to checkout time in the swimming pool needs to be clean there’s a lot of green stuff from water sitting.

Very much kid friendly hotel where ghe experience with my daughter and her best friendly getting together that experienced the seperation of being neighbors and classmates since my daughter lost her father a year before her best friend then mother passed away. I was so happy to see them enjoy the hotel stay..the staff..and hotel accommodations.

The thing that made the hotel stand out was the tremendously helpful and courteous front desk staff - namely AJ and Donae. I travel a ton and can't remember the last time I encountered such wonderful guest service from the staff!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

The receptionist was rude.

My girlfriend and I have stayed at this property several times and like the room, proximity to the restaurant next-door and value.

It was pretty nice compared to BW I stayed at in NJ.

I asked for a 6am wake up call, but my phone rung all night. I don't know if it was a computer era or front desk. I unplug the room phone. I was here for a funeral.

Hotel was clean and spacious; would absolutely return. Really enjoyed my stay - helpful staff as well.

The customer service was great. The staff member was very helpful with getting us booked and prepared for our next day airport shuttle needs. The cleanliness of this facility was good, nothing out of the norm. My absolute favorite is the water pressure/heat of the shower, the citrus bathroom products smelled amazing. The location of the facility is perfect, it's right by restaurants and shopping centers. They do have an indoor pool which we did not utilize. Definitely a great deal, will be back in the future.

The only issue was the AC unit in the room was extremely loud.

Great place to stay and staff was wonderful.

We stayed one night to attend a show at the hall at Live. No major complaints. The bed was very comfortable. Had plenty of towels. Appreciated the keurig style coffeemaker. The area behind the TV console could've used cleaning. Overall a positive experience.

My first two nights were not good. I had people making noise on the first two nights and I couldn’t get to sleep until around 2 in the morning. But next 3 nights we’re fine.

Good location, comfort room, however every morning until mid day they put FoxNEWS on the lobby TV. IMO it should be something neutral like the weather station people can watch their own Fox News and their private rooms not checked all of us to its rhetoric

We enjoyed our stay! Best service, superb room and the entire facility is clean! highly recommended! Great location inbetween Baltimore proper and Washington DC. To add Arundel Mills is just 8minutes drive. Will come back for another stay!

Overall for a short 24-48 hours stay think is a great location and hotel. The breakfast wasn’t the best however it was enough to hold us until we went to a restaurant.

We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western Plus. Our grandchildren really enjoyed the pool!! I guess there is only one thing I would change and that is there needs to be an exhaust fan in the bathrooms. After someone takes a shower it takes a long time for the mirror to clear up.

My booking was for 3 nights. I only stayed 1. The promised amenity of a pool was not upheld. The pool was out of order indefinitely. Poor business practice not to inform pending reservations of amenities unavailable

Overall, my family had a great stay! The room could use some updating and there were some random things like bubbling in the ceiling/water damage… But mostly cosmetic.

The hotel was very nicely decorated and well furnished. The shower head was a bit low. My husband and I couldn’t get the top of our heads under the water. The toilet was also very short. But, everything was very clean and nice. The staff were all very helpful and nice.

It was clean yet not overly priced

but had no truck parking in the parking lot

I chose this stay for the swimming pool and the bar restaurant located in the parking lot area and it was well worth it. Very quiet hotel can't hear anything through the walls and the breakfast was really good. They also have a sauna and a workout room. Most likely I will return

My wife and I loved everything about our stay, the breakfast, the pool, gym and sauna was very convenient right on the premises. Neat and clean, Will be staying there on every visit to Maryland. Bestern Western Plus was the Best!!

Really nice rooms and the staff were exceptional. The breakfast in the morning is great with eggs, sausage and pastries.

There's a restaurant next door

The gentleman at the desk when we checked in was great. The bed sheets were never changed and the white pillow case had mold all over when I told the general manager about it when she came up the day of leaving to check on if we needed a shuttle age apologized but never offered a discount

It was very peaceful! Other then the smell of weed while walking down the hallway the stay was excellent

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet, gym and pool. Loved the pub/restaurant next door! Airport shuttle was a lifesaver and very convenient to reserve. Overall, I would stay here again when I visit the Baltimore area next time.

It is a nice hotel just wish they had a little heat in the pool area but glad they had a nice pool

The hotel was ok. Clean, safe except for key card entrance was broke at back door by pool anyone could just walk in. When i went to check out the ckerk said the receipt has no charge..the receipt said zero. I asked to see manager clerk stated they come in a 7am. Really was worried about it i had my online booking receipt. As i turned away to get a small cup of orange juices, the clerk said real loud in front of other guests ..i said manager dont come in until 7am. I replied that i was going to get something to drink, then she started calling privilege white person. totaly lost t her mind and wouldn't let up. A barrage of racial slurs. I should seek legal representation she was not letting up until i actually wslked out. This was in front of other guests checking out. This employee is a definite liability anywhere she works. She needs to terminated. I will never stay there again and all my employees that come in for traning i usually direct them to this hotel, after this i will have none of our employees stay there. Most racist employee or person i have ever encountered

Nice place fair price

You need some USB ports for charging purposes. The outlets near the beds are nor accessible so chargers cannot be plugged in there.

Staff were great, room was clean and quiet.

This visit was much better than the one we had in November. The both elevators were working and the items in the room were good

LUVED THE SHOWER WATER PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURES. Breakfast left a lot to be desired.

Stayed at this property 2 prior times. Great shuttle for taking a cruise. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well stocked breakfast buffet. Now the issue we noticed every time: It is noisy. You can hear loud motorcycles racing on the highway nearby, police cars, whatever loud vehicles happen to travel at night. We’ll probably stay again bc of the price and the overall experience.
