Magnificent view from the 11th floor, Bayside, that compensated for the lack of heart water at 9 AM

The most unique aspect of this hotel is location, location, location! At the entry to the SF-Oakland Bay bridge, it is a short hope into San Francisco without having to pay SF hotel prices! There is ample shopping around the hotel grounds. Also, if you have destinations in the East Bay, it's quick access without having to navigate SF traffic!

Convenient location. Friendly staff.

Booked a king room and was “upgraded to a double queen.” The upgrade was the fact that it had a view. I wanted a king bed not a queen. The night auditor didn’t explain this to me until after I was checked in and went to my room. He then explained to me that they had no other kings available. If that was the case why was it available for me to book? Next, the A/C was very inefficient. It blows poorly and did not get cold at all. I also expressed this issue to the night auditor and he had an attitude about me telling him. He proceeded to let me know that there were no other rooms available and wanted to send maintenance to my room at 1 in the morning. I was tired and checked in at 12am. It was already late. I will be disputing as this was not a great stay.

Expensive menus, but quiet and clean.
- 3/5
Pool was good, friendly gentleman at breakfast and the bedroom was a great size. When i arrived the systems were down thereofore i had no access to wifi for 3 days of my stay. as this was a business trip, i had to hotspot fro my phone and as i was travelling from the UK, as you can imagine, this cost alot of money on my own phone bill to be able to work. there was also a power cut during my stay. when asked if i could have a late check out due to the issues, i was told i would need to pay.

It was a pleasant place to spend the night. One suggestion is that it would be helpful to let visitors know about the free bus service around Emeryville.

The location served our needs perfectly. The staff were outstanding. The hotel was clean and inviting. We would recommend Sonesta to other travelers and would be happy to stay with them again.

The room was spacious, clean. View was ok, we did see the bay but lots of freeway too. The refrigerator compressor was really noisy, we had to unplug it because it woke us during the night. I was surprised at the cost for a bottle of water in the room$9. It was Evian brand but still seemed a bit pricey. Over all for the price, I would recommend this hotel.

Even though the WiFi was not working, the staff was extremely accommodating. My early check in fee was waived as well as overnight parking and I given a free drip coffee which was really good! My room was clean but it had a light smell of smoke, however I was very pleased with the awesome bay view! The indoor pool was and jacuzzi was also nice. I had a couple glasses of prosecco which were reasonably priced.

Great rooms. Very quiet. Great location. Great staff. Breakfast didn't have any variations. For the days i stayed. There was only the same thing served each day at the buffet. I couldn't stand it after the 3rd day
- 2/5
No internet and paying for full breakfast was kinda not worth it it was one option didn't really say that said has restaurant and get 1 full breakfast
- 2/5
On top of no internet for our 3 day stay, we had no hot water the last day. This is a hotel that is barely klinging to 3 stars. Very unsatisfactory stay
- 3.5/5
So So Breakfast, No free coffee. must choose between coffee, tea or juice. Standard made to order American breakfast where you choose 1 type of meat, 1 type of eggs, toast and potatoes or none. $9 bottles of water, and no complimentary water.

After a long day out we arrived at the hotel and couldn’t check into our room because their computer system crashed. They didn’t offer any sort of compensation, resolution, apology or anything. Just asked we keep waiting until it got fixed. So much time had passed and it was nearing midnight so we had to book somewhere else. Still waiting for someone to reach out about a refund. DONT DO IT.
- 5/5
Place was clean and no smell. The housekeeper was very polite when asking for replacement towels. Front desk was very friendly and credited me because I didn’t realize I had breakfast included.

Very clean property with superior staff! Perfect location.
- 5/5
The room was very clean including the bathroom. I’m a stickler when it comes to clean bathrooms in hotel rooms. The staff was very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed my stay. One thing I do want to mention is the price of $33 for breakfast per person was ridiculous. The menu was not posted but when the cashier told me the breakfast was $33 a person, he lost me. I didn’t care what was on the menu. Bring down the price of breakfast.
- 4/5
Some Sonesta properties are very nice, but this is not one of them. This is an older property that smells, but well located by Bay Street (shops, restaurants, bookstore). Emeryville as a whole is a dump, and ppl only stay here bc their kids are at UC Berkeley, and the hotels in Berkeley are even worse & wildly overpriced. If you have to go to Berkeley for drop-off, graduation, parents weekend, or any long weekend, make sure you book WAY in advance bc all the hotels for miles around will be booked.

I don't like the visitors $25 a day, that's ridiculous. I understand the smoking so I have no complaints about that. But the the parking issue, my guess that I sell for our book for 2 guests. I have to pay 25 extra dollars. A day for parking that's really unfair

The front desk staff didn't explain anything. I happened to walk by a half hour later and another guest was getting a completely different experience. The room was adequate. AC worked well. Bed was comfortable. Overpriced breakfast was the main reason for knocking off a star.

A couple of things... The parking ticket at $25 a day without any security or coverage, notice signs everywhere saying not responsible for damage or stolen items to cars, pretty expensive and not secure when I could have parked across the street for $10 dollars at Bay Street and have coverage. I did feel at check in the front desk person was either stressed or being way too personal. As I was tired and need of rest and quiet, they came in said off the bat no parties, you need fill out all these papers right away and we need a deposit asap. Asked me if I had stayed here before and said it was long time ago before Sonesta, he said in joking matter, yeah all those ones sucked before and you can get out if you have any issue. I know the area in Emeryville can be a little dicey at time, understood some concern but that guy was way too much. Noticed I had received an email about an upgrade showed it to them and he said they already gave it to me without telling me first or offering anything additional. Afterwards was fine, the room was a good clean fit for the 2 nights I was there. Maid service was great for the inbetween the night change over. If needing to stay again in the area I'd probably choose a room at a good price but park at Bay Street.
- 5/5
Easy check-in. Great customer service. We were able to check-in early which was a deeply appreciated kindness, especially since we were traveling with kids. We had a full schedule ahead of us. Having a place to rest after a long day of traveling was a blessing. Thank you, Sonesta staff.

I was provided incorrect information regarding incidental charge which when called the hotel was told $50 but upon checking in was told it is $200 due to my using a debit card $50 is credit card. The manager was very nice and apologetic offering to provide a nice room. The nice room was smelly, pillow was dirty found hair and makeup and appeared that housekeeping was not done. I informed the front desk who asked that I leave that room and go to another room which was clean. This was very frustrating after having a challenging work day and the irony of it all is that after being assured that I would have a great room I am inconvenienced with a dirty room. The breakfast voucher and next morning staff were excellent.

A nice hotel convenient to a lot of shopping and restaurants in Emeryville at a very reasonable price. Comfy clean bed. Friendly helpful staff. Pool, hot tub, and the indoor fireplace were good perks. It was disappointing the two enclosed courtyard fireplaces were not operable. A short ride to OAK.

Another member of our group found bedbugs in her room on the couch/sofa and they moved her to another room. Unfortunately this was not communicated to the rest of us in a timely manner by the group member. The parking costs $25 a day on top of the $10 a day resort fee. The resort fee was disclosed prior but the parking cost was an unpleasant surprise. We did not experience any signs of bedbugs in the two rooms occupied by myself and my immediate family, however the work we had to do when we got home as a precaution to ensure we did not bring that into our house with quarantining our luggage and decontaminating everything was exhausting and frustrating. The location and condition of this hotel were good. The staff were friendly and professional. The hotel appeared to be clean and in good repair and updated recently. The parking has gates with arms that open and close with card entry but it is not secure from external entry on foot so the lot having those arms is simply for the hotel to control capacity and make money off the parking, it provides no actual additional safety or security. The lot was clean and reasonably well lit at night. The room amenities were minimalistic but sufficient. I imagine there may have been some additional things available by request at the desk but I did not inquire. The room I was in had two bottles of hand soap on the counter and no lotion. That was odd, as everyone else had one hand soap and one lotion. Not a huge deal, but meh.

Very clean, friendly staff, very close to Amtrak station for train travelers. Good value for money.

Excellent Hotel.
- 4/5
It's an older hotel, very clean with plenty of space. The staff and amenities were so-so. The area near the hotel was really nice with restaurants and shopping a 5 minute walk. The fishing and charter boat piers are about a ten minute drive. For an overnight stay it was exactly what we needed.
- 4/5
Sonesta is a great hotel. The shower walls have some mold. Showers need cleaning and caulking.
- 4/5
Location was perfect for our trip. Stores and shops at walking distance. The view of the bay from our room was beautiful. There is “self parking” but there is a daily fee for guest. I believe $25 vs their posted $30 at gate. This should be made a little more clear when booking. Free parking would’ve gotten them a higher rating.

It smelled clean as soon as you walked in to check in, the desk clerk was nice and explained everything since it was my first time there
- 4/5
Parking fees were unexpected.
- 3/5
A decent choice but many annoyances. They charge $25 a day for parking in a place that has no business charging for parking, and there was the hassle of getting in and out through gates with scans and a card. Checking in I learned the place charges a daily facility fee on top of the room rate "like a resort charge," the guy who checked me in said, but there's no resort. (It's for the so-called free WiFi plus small gym and small pool.) Most annoying was a sensor in my room that flash on the overhead light every time I went to the bathroom even at 3am. EVERY TIME, requiring me to go turn it off while half asleep. (It would turn off on its own but after a long wait.) The staff was nice and the room a good size with a fridge but not a place I'll be returning any time soon.

The location. Safe. The cleanliness of the room . Breakfast Everything good. Lil internet ? issues on one of the TV. But I had 2 no worries

Free parking would be awesome
- 1/5
Really sneaky hotel. Staff at the front desk did not mention how much the parking was until after the deposit was paid, as a result they will lock you into it before disclosing what is collected within the deposit. Overall not straightforward at all and just shady business tactics. Property is old and not up to current day standards. The bathroom tub in our room had cracks snd shower curtains were messy.
- 3/5
Hotel definitely needs an update to rooms
- 5/5
Had a lovely stay at Sonesta! We had a bay view in our room with spectacular sunsets. There was sufficient lighting in the room and plugs for all of our devices. There was a room fridge that was genuinely cooling our soda/water; the food from the kitchen was terrific; and the employees--from the front desk to the dining area and beyond were all kind, helpful, and wililng to go the extra mile. Given the central location of this hotel (and very reasonable daily parking fees), not to mention the great restaurants nearby, I think this is a great place to stay for a good price. We will definitely stay there again!
- 5/5

Not a fan of the parking fee. This is not disclosed on the reservation totals. We were told of the parking fee at the desk. What is one to do, you're there, where else would you park. Because of this, we would like to be refunded the parking fee incurred. Other than that, everything was great.

Front desk staff were consistently kind and helpful during my stay. My travel dates kept changing and I rebooked the hotel through Expedia each time, but thankfully the staff were great and I was able to stay in the same hotel room the whole time. Nice hotel, parking is expensive though!
- 3/5
The hotel facilities are fine, but the rooms not so much. The shower looked old and stained. I hesitated to step in to take a shower. Also, they charge for parking. The information listed self-parking, which I mistakenly assumed as included in the reservation. I have stayed at much better hotels for the same price.

Staff were friendly, Did not expect daily parking fee and service fee for cleaning the room.
- 2/5
I look forward to the indoor pool and jacuzzi specially after a long drive unfortunately it was under maintenance.
- 4/5
Very nice staff, clean room. Easy access to shopping and public transportation.
- 5/5
I was booked into decent room (Hotelscom customer) received in the past as hotel.com customer. It is usually on low level near air conditioning. My room had no curtain only sheer curtain. The lights from business across street were glaring. and was changed to a suite at 2am.Probably no other room. I did not choose breafast with room. I have not liked food at Sonesta in past and expensive.
- 2/5
Room was neglected. Stayed for 5 nights and not once did they come to clean. Hidden fees and un friendly front desk staff. One the day of my check out I asked for a receipt of the “travelers fee” and “daily parking fee” and got the detest attitude from the receptionist while she was watching a series on her phone. Lack of professionalism. Won’t be coming back
- 2/5
Note that parking costs $25 per day if paid upfront. People gathered in the parking area overnight, which is expected in a busy area. I stayed due to a family loss and was unable to relocate. The staff were friendly and professional, which I appreciated. Still, the condition of the rooms does not align with the rates, especially with several comparable hotels nearby.
- 5/5
Great room and friendly, welcoming staff.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable and the stay was very pleasant, informational, and friendly
- 5/5
A friend from Tracy was in town for an all day hangover. Nice staff. Nice room.
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 5/5
Room was clean, and staff was professional and courteous. Check-in was straight forward. Good accommodation with a small swimming pool, a hot tub and serviceable gym.
- 4/5
Great jacuzzi and gym. I would return!
- 4/5
Enjoyed the stay , room was clean . Shower dirty. Staff were nice and very helpful .
- 4/5
Very clean and comfortable room with a fabulous view. Great staff service/interactions.
- 1/5
Upon checking in my first room was handicap, but they were happy to change it. The next room that they gave me smell like pets in the bathroom, smell like sewer. At that time I checked out and requested a refund and went and checked into the four seasons, enjoying a balcony with a nice bay view. I would never be back to this property nor will I visit another one.
- 5/5
great
- 5/5
The entire team was very friendly….
- 3/5
Bathroom smelled like mildew and the shower leaked, but overall a comfortable enough room. We needed a dog friendly hotel, so we it got the job done!
- 5/5
Convenient location, friendly staff
- 2/5
Experienced issues with the TV and internet availability. Paid for parking that was insecure since the gates were up the entire night. Some technical difficulties making it a bad experience.
- 1/5
Parking
- 3/5
Room had bugs by the little “kitchen”. Overpriced and not clean enough
- 3/5
The bathtub is old and dirty looking and the water doesn’t go down the drain. Also the water takes forever for it to get hot. And then when it does it’s not that hot.
- 5/5
It was good and clean
- 4/5
Everything was great except for my check-in experiences. Renee at the front made me feel uncomfortable. I arrived after 11:00pm and there was no line, but she made me feel rushed. She spoke very fast and seemed to be annoyed when I’d asked for clarification. I’ve stayed at many hotels through the years and Renee should not be the hotel’s first impression.

- 4/5
location and cleaniness
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful. We would stay again.
- 5/5
The facility was clean and staff very friendly. The stay was great, I havent sleep that well in awhile. However, I was disappointed that their cable TV has only 2 dozen channels period and their restaurant closes at 9:00pm.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was large and well-appointed with beautiful views of Berkeley and UCB. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Hotel is really nice but food is incredibly bad. Soggy toast, burnt coffee, terrible quesadilla. Huge mistake trying to eat there
- 3/5
Old rooms
- 1/5
We stayed for three nights and not once did the cleaning lady came which was disappointing. No towels were changed and the bedding wasn’t made.
- 5/5
Clean room, kind staff
- 4/5
Rooms are standard.
- 5/5
Great overnight stay and across the street from the Bay Street shopping district.
- 4/5
The room was comfortable and the customer service was excellent. However, there was a scent (maybe air freshener) that was extremely potent which caused my husband to suffer allergy symptoms.
- 5/5
Very nice and clean rooms
- 3/5
Friendly staff. Easy check in process. Convenient location. Standard room met our basic needs. Bathroom could have been cleaner, hallways had a faint stale old odor. There was no shower gel in the shower gel dispenser.
- 3/5
staff was nice, room was outdated and hallway as well
- 5/5
Room was excellent, and we were put on the 10th floor, which was awesome!
- 4/5
The location was with shops and restaurants right there
- 3/5
One of the front counter stuff is really not friendly .
- 5/5
Upgraded to a suite. No extra charge. Fantastic.
- 5/5
Great place to stay with easy access TJ Berkeley and surrounding. Very secure and safe parking lot and facility with patrols and security, gated parking etc. highly recommend
- 5/5
Very clean room and facilities all around! Our room was a lot more spacious than expected, and the bathroom was nice and clean as well.
- 5/5
Super convenient location.
- 5/5
Quiet room with a view. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was very friendly.
- 4/5
Hotel clean and comfortable. Purchased breakfast online. Limited to one covered meal on the menu. Dennys or Black Bear restaurant would have been better option. Don’t waste your money on the food. Disgusting. $22 for pancake
- 5/5
Offer a breakfast suitable enough for hungry travelers
- 5/5
Sonesta Rules!!!!!
- 1/5
Wr booked 2 rooms and they charged parking fees for both rooms but we only had 1 car. I have tried for 3 months to be refunded $72.42 but they reverse the charges on my credit card.
- 5/5
Clean room! Friendly staff!
- 5/5
Overall good stay
- 4/5
It was a nice location for Family Weekend for University of Utah - access to the Saturday farmer's market was a bonus and it's a straight shot up the street to campus. Little sketchy area as there was unknowingly a homeless shelter around the corner so that made us a bit uneasy.
- 5/5
Very clean rooms, safe environment, friendly staff.
- 5/5
The staff at this hotel is truly exceptional. They provided excellent customer service, and I had a wonderful conversation with the young lady who checked me in. I also had a pleasant interaction with one of the cleaning ladies. Both were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very well-maintained, and parking is convenient. My vehicle is securely parked, which is a plus. I definitely plan to return in the future.
- 1/5
Horrible customer service. The room had a horrible smell. Sketchy people both outside in the parking lot and in the building. Unable to get live agent on the phone even if you want to.
- 5/5
The view of the city was breathtaking, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean.
- 5/5
The room was nice and clean. I enjoyed the hot tub.
- 5/5
All good. Cozy, kind and nice location
- 4/5
There's plenty of space at this hotel and I'm surprised they have such a high overnight parking fee.
- 5/5
Excellent stay, overall.
- 3/5
Water was cold for showers
- 5/5
Very comfortable stsy
- 5/5
We needed a close place to catch an early train and this was ideal. Looked newly renovated. Bus/shuttle stop directly in front of the place. Perfect for our needs.
- 5/5
Location was great. The property was nice and the room was perfect.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 3/5
Booked a king room, when we checked in the room was two queens.
- 4/5
I liked the location problem is we could not take a shower because of a leak coming from upstairs dripping in the tub
- 5/5
Clean comfortable room
- 5/5
It’s a really nice hotel. The room was a bit small for three people, but was comfortable otherwise. The room, lobby, and public areas were clean and peaceful. It’s in a convenient area. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Spacious, clean, comfortable room. There’s a super cute shopping area across the street, and a movie theater, with lots of restaurants. It’s our new go to hotel for visiting our daughter at Cal. Highly recommend and will be back.
- 5/5
Luv it

The San Francisco Bay view is great; you can see the bay bridge, the skyline of San Francisco behind it, the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.
- 5/5
Location cannot be beat!
- 5/5
Lovely stay and I’m very particular…. Rarely is the first room I’m offered spot on for me… and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the room that I was assigned. Breakfast was pricey but worth it… very tasty. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Great hotel but did not service room every day. Only upon request and has to be the night before. That should be an every day standard.
- 3/5
Miguel at the front desk was great, the room was clean, the bath tub was not leveled correct and a big puddle of water will remain after taking a shower, some of the furniture was chipped and didn’t look appealing, I got a bay view room, and it was disappointed to find the window was like 30 inches tall! It was a joke, I was expecting almost from floor to ceiling especially since we pay extra to get this view!
- 4/5
Room service
- 2/5
The hotel had old interior. Bed was mediocre. The hallway had a very strong scent most likely to mask the musky smell. I would not recommend this place.
- 5/5
friendly staff
- 3/5
It was close to a lot of stuff but the hotel was dirty
- 2/5
I am very disappointed and unsatisfied with the hotel l hope you will offer something better in the future.
- 1/5
Si las personas fueran mas amables y también si ponen los cargos extras como deposito en la aplicación para reservar seria mucho mejor
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
We love coming to Sonesta Emeryville, but we have noticed that it needs some maintenance in the bathrooms, etc. Some improvements need to be made to maintain the same quality as always.
- 5/5
We were greeted at the desk as we walked in with a gentleman that was so polite, informative, and very helpful. The housekeeper was so nice and provided us with everything we needed. There was a new employee at the desk, but she was informative and gave us info on things to do and greatplaces to shop. If I come back out here to San Francisco, I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Todo bien solo que cobran el parqueadero 25 dls diarios aparte de lo q uno paga en el hotel
- 2/5
We checked in around 7 to head to dinner. I got to the room to start getting ready. We noticed the room was extremely cold and even after changing the thermostat was still cold. My boyfriend realized the window was open and broken. We called and were asked a lot of questions instead of just having someone come up. We were rushed to change rooms so I stopped getting ready to change rooms. Our room was lower level but had a great view of the water. We asked that our replacement have the same view and were promised we would and that our parking would be comped for the inconvenience. Our new room had no view at all. Upon check out I had to let the desk clerk know of the parking situation, as it wasn't put in the notes. Also, the incidentals seem very high for the quality of the hotel.
- 5/5
Awesome stay
- 5/5
The ethiopian girl she is soo nice and help full thank you
- 5/5
I love this hotel , it’s clean, convenient and above all the staff are amazing, I booked a hotel and had this Idea of surprise my friend was his birthday, so I wanted to decorate the room without him knowing, so I went early to check in and after checking in, talked to the staff at front desk about what I want to do, decorating the room then I will go out later then come back with my boyfriend, and act like we just go there and pretend like their helping me check in, so that my boyfriend won’t notice anything, he agreed he ( my bad I didn’t catch their names) but he was a supervisor he even tell other front desk staff so that by the time we got there for the second time he might not be at the front desk who ever will be there won’t blow out the suprise and act weird like why are you checking in you have already checked in. Suprise went well he didn’t notice anything. I really recommend this hotel if you’re or planning to be in the Bay Area.❤️💙
- 5/5
Very nice. Perfect location. Huge room.
- 4/5
Was totally adequate for our "just there to skeep" stay. Very sparse and limited ambuances.
- 5/5
.
- 3/5
The lobby looked beautiful, however our bathroom was not updated. The pool was not heated and breakfast was limited to 3 choices and took more than 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Same for dinner.
- 5/5
Pleasant, friendly people
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly. Check-in and check-out was efficient and pleasant. Room was rough around the edges. Windows were so filthy you could barely see out. Bathroom was poorly lit. Carpet was wet in one spot and felt grimy in others. Room is small and crowded. Bed was comfortable. Except for windows and carpet, room was clean.
- 5/5
Staff was very accommodating!
- 5/5
Good
- 1/5
I spent 1 hour in their lobby trying to check in, and they offered me another room that was not comparable to the one I reserved. The front desk person was not helpful or courteous and had an attitude. Second, the noise and the smell made the stay uncomfortable and unenjoyable.
- 4/5
It takes about 10 minutes for water in the bathroom sink to get hot. I times it twice 10 minuoboth times.
- 5/5
Really good hotel
- 5/5
Was so good
- 5/5
Very good hospitality, room is always ready and quick service.
- 5/5
My stay at the Emeryville Sonesta was fantastic, the staff was excellent. The check-in and check-out was efficient and the room had a beautiful view of the Oakland Hills
- 5/5
It was a very nice stay.
- 4/5
Location
- 4/5
Everything was fine until check out. I was doube charged and a lot of extra fees were added. I do wish there had been a decent coffee maker in the room and a microwave. Also, to get housekeeping service you have to request in advance like at check in. They don't mention that .
- 5/5
High quality compared to others nearby
- 3/5
Smoke smell in the first room they gave us. Had to change rooms
- 1/5
I called customer service to inquire why they charged me $22.42, and they simply said they didn't know. They then put the phone aside and on hold with music and wait for long time ....him never to get back. I haven't heard from him since.
- 5/5
Great experience.
- 5/5
Very good value
- 2/5
Our room smelled horrible...from smoke to weed to mustiness. The sink was also completely clogged. You also don't get refills on your coffee and tea without a request...and the water bottles are $9?
- 4/5
great
- 5/5
I like how close it is to shops and dining/snacks options. It is close enough to UC Berkeley which is handy for visiting family members of students.
- 3/5
Sonesta is the 1st hotel I've been to where they do not clean your room unless you request it. And the request must be at least 1 day in advance. The hotel itself is old and tired, and the staff was not particularly friendly or helpful. Upon checking out, I had to ask for a payment receipt several times before they gave it to me. I paid $277/night for 2 nights (plus $25/day parking and $10/day facility fee) during move-in week for UC Berkeley, and it was definitely not worth the price paid.
- 5/5
It was very clean and quiet.
- 4/5
It’s close to a shopping mall
- 4/5
Dirty window panes
- 4/5
Nice decent place to stay for a night or two. Clean room. Little dated but good value.
- 5/5
The room was really nice
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Convenient, Clean
- 1/5
No wifi available
- 4/5
Need to tell front desk if you want Ho
- 1/5
They didn’t clean the room and the internet access was poor. When we asked they were very rude about it.
- 4/5
Those mattress was hard. Beyond firm. Needs upgrading.
- 3/5
definitely not what we thought we were paying for. be prepared for a 400 “hold” and pay 25 per day for parking. No microwave in the rooms
- 5/5
Shopping and dining very convenient for my family of 4.
- 3/5
If you add breakfast, it's not all you can eat you will have to choose 4 items only. The bay view is no better than without. One of the beds in my room was lopsided. Stayed on the 7th floor and non smoking but definitely has an old weird smell right off the elevator and in our room.
- 4/5
Everything here was great until checking out and there is a destination fee and upsell fee of $14 adding to the room. We got one night stay room upgraded from king bed to double beds for $25. The hotel area is much safer than other areas in Oakland and the shopping mall is across the street.
- 5/5
Bed was comfortable and lots of elevators.no wait anywhere. Was bummed on indoor pool but I guess thats for weather
- 4/5
The property was a very nice size and the rooms were nice as well. The cleaning of the room could have been better. There was still some hair from previous guests left in the bathroom and room. Overall, the room was nice, organized, and a good size. I would stay at this property again. Also, we paid for parking and the gate was up the entire weekend. Anyone could enter and exit.
- 5/5
Nice location and easy access to shopping and food. Walkable.
- 3/5
Very dated property but in a good location.
- 3/5
The staff who checked me in had no service at all.
- 4/5
It was a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and right across the street is a shopping center with and near by coffee shops, etc. also we walked to Trader Joe’s. We then hopped on the bus right across the street to head into San Francisco. We had a great time.
- 3/5
The bathtubs are old , need to be changed . But the bathroom is big ! The room smell smoke
- 5/5
Access was difficult. I did not ask about it.
- 1/5
Staff was rude. No WiFi, not family friendly. Didn’t try to accommodate family with multiple kids. Charged us $16 for 2 cups of coffee. Rooms felt dirty.
- 5/5
Were just staying for a quick overnight. Staff was very friendly and generously gave wife and me a free breakfast on learning it was our anniversary trip. Very professional and helpful with locating other needs at places near the hotel. Room was very comfortable. Good views of bay.
- 5/5
The property was very close to shopping center and in a very safe area.
- 3/5
Parking was ridiculous. The building feels old and outdated. The room smelled. But location was great. Easy walking distance to several things.
- 2/5
Great location to San Francisco, so that was a plus. The shower had good water pressure, the toilets worked, and we had a decent view of the east bay.
- 2/5
Day manager was not able to make accommodating platform for existing issues. Check in was delayed 4 hours and room had to be switched because of in adequate function of amenities in room.
- 2/5
The pool and hot tub were dirty, hairs, oils on top of water just floating around. Dreary small room, lumpy bed and just over all not great stay.
- 1/5
The room had sheets and pillow case stained with pink spots. Breakfast for the additional 17$ we paid for was a yogurt bagel and cup of fruit very basic not worth the 17$ extra we paid. As we were leaving i over heard someone complaining that their room had trash and a vape pen that were not cleaned up before they arrived to their room that was gross the man helping her smiled as he told her oh i am sorry i will let them know very sarcastic like he did not care. I would never stay here again so disappointing
- 4/5
Great property and room accommodations. Did not like how bad the area attracted a lot of homeless people.
- 5/5
We would always stay here when it was a Marriott property. Sonesta did not disappoint and will continue to be our go to! Our Bay Area view was perfect, shopping all within walking distance and a sweet heated indoor pool was a win for our son.
- 5/5
Convenient location, a lot of shopping and food options near by. Excellent staff.
- 2/5
We had to practically beg for the room to be cleaned during our 4 night stay. The pool and hot tub were gross. Garbage around the hot tub that was there for 3 days.
- 4/5
Nice property
- 5/5
Very clean and nice
- 3/5
- Staff were all really friendly and approachable. - The hotel was generally very clean and tidy. - Nice pool and hot tub although the pool could probably do with a good a deep clean and possibly some more effective filters. - The main issue for us during our stay was the toilets. I know this has been mentioned in previous reviews but the staff did seem aware of more recent issues and we over heard other guests commenting their own. It has to be said that the staff were really good when dealing with our problem. We had an overflowing toilet at 3am, luckily it was clean water from the cistern. The cistern would not close off after flushing and the toilet could not take the amount of water so it flooded the bathroom. My wife and I quickly found a way to stop the flow of water and cleared up the best we could. After this we were moved to another room, so this was much appreciated. In the new room, the toilet blocked again and also in our groups second room. We cleared this ourselves, not wanting to be a pain to staff. Blocked toilet was the other guests problem which we overheard also. Breakfast was a disappointment, it was cold and been out a while. Had to ask for toast as this was not available. For a free breakfast not many would complain but I would not pay for it here, as there are other local options. Would not stay here again but the staff's efforts were appreciated.
- 4/5
The place was comfortable, nice beds, clean. not sure why there was a commercial fan in my room drying the floor?
- 4/5
Nice affordable place to stay
- 1/5
Do not recommend for single women or POCs. Engaged in questionable practices. Had to contact hotel multiple times to get hold released on card and still waiting. Poor management, room and bathroom needed maintenance with toilet running constantly and slow shower drain.
- 4/5
A very nice place to stay.
- 4/5
Nice

Leaking water on the ceilings in our room in the middle of the night.at 2AM in the morning in room 318. Not recommended!
- 5/5
The hotel is very conveniently located and has a mall and shopping within walking distance. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.
- 5/5
I loved the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly. I would stay there again if I should visit California. I totally appreciated that it was a tourist attraction area.
- 5/5
I enjoyed everything from staff, cleanliness of hotel. The bad part $25 dollars for parking each night
- 4/5
I really liked the indoor pool in hot tub. And the beds were very comfortable. Nice fluffy sheets, filters and pillows, and when asked after hours for more towels, they quickly obliged. The breakfast I gave it a 5 star.
- 5/5
Close to freeway, walking to dining and shopping, friendly and helpful staff
