The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and very nice. And unlike some, the TV actually worked correctly. Will most likely stay there again on our way back through.

We had a guy next to us throw parties until 3 am every night. The walls were so thin we could hear everything going on and even him throwing up in the morning. The breakfast was limited as their wasn't much fresh fruit or a waffle maker as shown in pictures. The shower was super short and the bathtub didn't look clean.

Affordable, accessible, and convenient. Overall, the visit was pleasant. However, the shower drain was clogged, and water stayed in the bathtub for several minutes before draining.

We booked for our annual trip to FL because the rooms were so clean last year. This time there was hair on the bathroom floor (a lot in the corners) and a soap wrapper behind the toilet. And the room had an off putting odor.

Was unable to stay for breakfast. Ample parking options made it easy to park and truck and trailer. I’d suggest 2nd floor rooms vs ground floor.

Check in was easy, but the hotel need some TLC. The room had some wetness smell. Thankfully we were there for just one night so it was ok for us. For a quick night trip it is fine, but all the buildings should be maintained

This is a hotel that's really a model if the old Howard Johnson motels that if you're over 60 remember well. Not pretty but has a great personality. It's perfectly fine for a night's stay during a long trip. It's clean, safe, comfortable, and fairly priced. If you're looking for luxury (which I'm not) move on... spend more and get candies on your pillow. I could care less about the candies. It's my 4th year staying here on my annual trip north/south and I have no intention of changing. And the staff is great.

Everything was nicely taken care of. The beds were comfortable and there were no signs of unauthorized critterage. The staff was helpful. The hot breakfast was very good, there were many choices. All in all we had a wonderful couple days, relaxing and restful. We'd go back there in a heartbeat.

All right, here’s a honest with you. It’s no five star hotel but it’s a nice clean three star hotel.

Road entrance to hotel from main road. The street was dark, road name was bent, hotel sign was not well lit, the hotel was further back from main road so it was not easy to see late at night. Road construction did not help and not their fault.

The room had a weird odor. Was kinda like mildew. Room was very dark and outdated.

It rained heavily while there to the point that water came under the door causing somewhat of an inconvenience trying to dry the floor and protect personal property.

All good and the best value at Florence. Only downside is the walkways are missing paint so don’t look nice.

The staff and owners make a great effort in welcoming you to the location. We had an issue with our booking and they immediately took action to resolve it. Customer care is excellent service across the board. Centrally located and walking distance to great eating locations.

So nostalgic to stay at Howard Johnson’s again. It brought back so many great memories. Rooms were updated clean and comfortable, the price was a value especially last minute. I would stay here again without question , I liked being able to get right to my room and not have to take an elevator The breakfast was the only lackluster part of our stay, the only salvation for me was chocolate milk which hit the spot . Even by standard continental hotel breakfast, there were not enough options and ended up getting breakfast elsewhere.

Easy check in Room was dirty with long black hairs on the towels and sheets. There for 4 nights, and never serviced or even had trash taken out once. Housekeeping came by on day 2 at 8:30 am. Told her we would be out in a few minutes. When we left at 9:00, I found her and told her we were out and would like it serviced. Came back that evening to find it exactly how we left it. The toilet seat only had 1 bolt holding it on. Told the front desk the 1st morning we would like it fixed. Never touched over the 4 days.

Continently located right off the highway with ample safe parking. Clean rooms, towels and bathrooms. Could use some updating/ maintenance… our tub and sink took a long time to drain, the sink faucet wasn’t attached to the sink, and multiple pieces of the baseboard trim were loose or unattached completely.

Everything was good , is a little old but clean and the bed is good refrigerator old and no clean full of ice , breakfast bagels , cream cheese and butter some cereal and apples no continental but is a cheap hotel I understand that . A little noise because you can hear the people next room is only divided by a door .. but overall is good to spend a night because is clean .

The room itself was very clean and well laid out. But the king size bed was terrible. It had been slepped in so many times that it was nothing but a hole in the middle and way too soft for comfortable sleeping. The pillows were way too large, and elevated the neck so much that I had to sleep without the pillows.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by very friendly and kind staff. The cleanliness of the room truly surprised us it exceeded our expectations. The environment was quiet, peaceful, and felt very safe. The rooms were also quite spacious, which made our stay even more comfortable. The bathroom was spotless as well. In the morning, the breakfast was another pleasant surprise. There was a wide variety of options, definitely above the usual continental breakfast. Everything was fresh and the dining area was very clean. The staff there were also warm and welcoming. Check-out was quick and easy, which we really appreciated. If I ever pass through this area again, I will definitely choose to stay at this hotel. It absolutely deserves a 10 out of 10.

This motel was incredible clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Refrigerator with an actual freezer section. Quiet as it’s not positioned directly beside I-95, Great and reasonable stop from Florida to Virginia.

Stayed many times and is a great value. Room this time needed some of the furniture updated.

The bathroom was covered in black mold. The fridge was full of ice that also had mold on it. It smelled. We left a hat in the room on our first stay. Called about a hour later but the hat was never recovered. Even a week later when we stayed on our return home trip, they said no hat was left in the room. The outside walkways are crumbling, cigarettes littered all along the pathways.

For the price it’s a good place to stay.

I appreciated the vintage charm and keeping with the history of the Howard Johnson. That made it fun. The room was a good size and pretty clean but it was missing some of the finishes that are nice to have; the sheets were kind of scratchy, the tub was shiny clean but had some bubbling of the coating which freaked me out when I thought I was stepping on something and getting around was a little confusing. Overall though, it was a decent place for sleep and a shower that didn’t break the bank.

Perfect for an affordable overnight stay. Remodeled in recent years, so clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and decent breakfast in the am.

The check-in process was easy and the staff who we interacted with were friendly. Our room was clean, parking was good, and while we only had morning beverages, there seemed to be a good selection of quick breakfast foods.

Honestly the property was run down. The outside desperately needed a paint job. Even though it’s out of season the pool looked disgusting. The room was semi clean but had an odor. We were tired and on our way back to Jersey from Florida so we stayed but won’t be returning.

The staff upon my arrival were not vrry inviting...in regards to check in and I attempted to get a cup of coffee and the clerk said it was old and was made that morning...my arrival time was 6pm...they made no apology or offered to make some fresh coffee.

The room was clean. It looks like the bathroom was recently remolded and was very clean. The breakfast area was clean and a nice variety of food to choose from.

This was a great property for a 1-night stay while travelling. It was very clean, the shower/tub and surrounding tiles looked recently renovated and spotless. The bed was comfortable, no complaints. It's an economical hotel and you get what you pay for. The continental breakfast is just that - but a decent variety of basic options, and fresh apples. Staff was courteous and efficient. I would stay here again, especially for the affordable price - it's good value.

The room was pretty and the bed and pillows were to die for. Staff was friendly. Breakfast wasnt that great for me. I dont like raisins and fruit loops are too sugary. But the one thing I ate, a banana muffin was good and 3 selection of juices was nice. I would stay here again.

While the exterior of the hotel is nondescript, the rooms have been beautifully renovated - the bed was great, lots of pillows, spacious tiled bathroom, loved the laminate floors. It is very convenient to I-95 and lots of amenities. Highly recommend.

I honestly don’t understand how people who’s review this property say it is clean. I understand a basic room in a two star property would be a place to sleep and that was it. However the room we stayed in was “clean”. On the surface the toilet, tub and sink were clean. However no deep cleaning or anything above this basic wipe down has been done in a long time. Mold in the tub caulking, dirty walls, doors where hands have touched multiple times, just over all dirt and grime. A shoe print on the ceiling. I could go on. Staff very friendly at check in. Free breakfast basic but kept filled and area clean. You definitely get what you pay for.

Just know before you stay: this is a 2 story hotel and there is no elevator.

The location is great! You can walk to the Cook Out and other restaurants. The room is dated with older carpeting etc but the bed was comfortable. The free breakfast was quite basic. They did have cold boiled eggs which I liked but it was breads, cereals and coffee. For the price we paid it was perfect for a one night stay.

The room was squeaky clean and just adorable! Kind of 80's Retro decor. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Even the continental breakfast was very nice with fresh muffins and bagels! Great motel atmosphere right out of the 80's!! Thank you to all the staff!

Was a hard choice between 3 and 4 stars. The room was pretty good. Clean and all we needed. The check in went fine. I’m hoping my deposit they took comes back to me. They were polite. The outside needs a facelift. But inside looked ok. The breakfast was almost non existent. Definitely not a contenental breakfast. A bagel was the best choice. No yogurt even. I chose a chocolate milk and it had the weirdest consistency. Milk was like the 6th thing in the ingredients list. We would stop again just because of the price.

Love the retro look with the HoJo color scheme. Everything looked new and immaculate, but the classic decor gave the place some character and a bit of charm instead of looking like a standard issue, one each hotel. Will look for other HoJos during our travels.

Room was clean, in good condition. My only 2 issues were the gap under the door let in an extreme amount of cold air as I was staying the night of the ice storm warning and the coffee in the breakfast was lukewarm. For the price, was a good stay.

Good basic budget accommodations. No surprises and no complaints. Room was a bit tired but clean. Super-friendly staff. We enjoy the 'park outside your room' for easy unpacking and quick exits instead of hauling all of your bags through the lobby, waiting for an elevator and navigating the hallways.

The Howard Johnson was perfect for an overnight stop as we traveled home for Orlando. The staff were very pleasant, the room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we did not stay for breakfast - we needed to get back on the road. But, we would definitely stay here again.

Carpet could use a cleaning. Ceiling repair from previous water leak was done poorly.

Parking was easy. There were some coned off spots, but it was not great lighting for night time arrivals. We had a room on the inner courtyard side of the buildings, making access harder at night, Reading room numbers was challenging. We went to find our room before lugging our luggage. The price was reasonable, but we had a hot breakfast at the motel the night before with better access to our room, and less signs of wear on door frames and exterior of buildings. The bed was comfortable and clean, and so was the bathroom area.

We checked in at 10 PM after driving 15 hours. The toilet was backed up, the phone did not work. Went down to report, they gave me a plunger to take care of myself. Was unable to unclog, changed rooms.I'm handicapped and had to move to their side of building .

Set well back from the road, it was easy to miss in the dark of night, but this made for a quiet place for a good night’s sleep. Room, bedding and bath were very clean and it was nice to find a fridge with separate freezer, a microwave and coffee maker, items becoming more rare all the time.

The room was clean and comfortable. Good HVAC kept us warm on a cold night. Shower was good. Breakfast: cold cereal, hot cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, toast, bagels. Motel uses paper cups, but Styrofoam plates/bowl (paper would be preferable)

Awesome stay! This was my favorite hotel on my recent trip through South Carolina. Clean, everything worked as it should; fast check-in. I highly recommend this place.

For a value motel this place runs a tight ship. I felt very secure. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The property was well kept, everything worked. The breakfast was good, and the staff was very friendly. Location right near the exit with tons of restaurant choices. This place made for a great overnight stop on my trip back home to Virginia from Florida. Very good value. I would go back.

Everything worked as hoped starting with the early check in where no one made us return but instead said "no problem, you are welcome!" to a clean conveniently located room away from the traffic. This is a 1/2 way point to family, so we will definitely recommend and book again. The price is right, the staff very nice and the location and amenities perfect for a one night stop.

The check in was done by two ladies who had a great sense of humor and ready smiles. They assigned us a room away from the traffic, so very thoughtful. The room itself was very clean, compact and pleasant. The one thing the HJ could do to improve a stay is to provide the windows with black curtains blocking the light. What they have lets much light in and with the lamp posts outside, it's a little like daytime. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay for us and a good half way overnight on our way. We are planning a return on the way back.

What a nice place. Certainly the Gem of the hotels at this exit for sure. Great staff, nice and friendly, found the exact room I needed and it was so clean. In good repair too. Parking lot had good lighting so my car was safe and close to the room. Breakfast was nice. The coffee was the best. I don't know the brand but it was great. I'll stay at HoJo's again for sure.

The room was fairly good. A strange smell which we I assume we just got used to. The shower tiles are not properly installed, the bottom has not been caulked. If not corrected all the beautiful upgrades will be short lived.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and no carpet. Lots of stores and restaurants near by. It is hard to find a place this nice for this price. It was great for our stay over when traveling south.

When I made the reservation, I didn’t realize that this was a hotel with all rooms opening outside, and that half the rooms were up a flight of stairs. The clerk at the hotel was very accommodating when I told her I physically couldn’t handle the steps and she made sure I had a room on the first floor.

The room appeared to be recently renovated, but the A/C was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep. By the time we realized the problem, we were settled in and didn't want to change rooms. We were concerned about their policy that they don't rent to locals, but the parking lot was well lit and we didn't have any problems.

Service and staff were very accommodating and polite. Check in and check out was very quick

This was a great find! The staff were wonderful, the room comparable to the Comfort and Hampton Inn chains that were priced much higher and located right next door!

Hotel was clean and has been remodeled. No hot breakfast foods. Seniors should request a first floor room as there is no elevator. It's an older hotel but has been fairly well taken care of.

We checked out at 5:30 am so no breakfast for us.

The room I was given was in extremely poor condition — the sheets had visible stains, and there were roaches present. This made the room uninhabitable and far below acceptable hygiene standards.

The front desk is behind plexi glass and feels like you’re checking into a dodgy area. I was surprised at the feel and cleanliness of the place based on the ratings and reviews. Our bathroom was not cleaned well - there was a towel from the previous guest hanging on the back of the bathroom door. The parking area was open but seemed fine. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

The staff was amiable and efficient. The room was ample, modern and clean. Ample parking even for vehicles with trailers. The facility is a very well maintained vintage hotel. Don’t expect the glitzy new buildings being built today, but the renovated rooms with comfort, cleanliness and amenities are exceptional. I recommend it.

Stayed one night on my way to Virginia. Very dated hotel, not sure how it has an excellent rating. My room smelled like a cross between an old man and a gym locker. When I ran the water in the bathroom it had a sewer smell. I had to spray my perfume in the room to get whatever the smell was out of there. Just very musty and old. Not thrilled with the location as I did not feel 100% safe. Thumbs up for the staff at check-in and check out, and the bed was comfortable once I sprayed the pillows to get rid of the smell.

I stay here twice a year. It's convenient and comfortable. The rooms are always clean. The people with whom I deal are efficient and competent. Thank you.

Stayed based on “excellent” reviews on Hotels.com. Is this the same place? Dirty hotel, horrible area, did not feel safe, room was filthy, breakfast was minimal and not as expected. I won’t be relying on Hotel.com reviews anymore. It’s the reason I stayed here. What a waste of $$$. Look elsewhere. Stay in Florence around mall.

Very clean and comfortable

Everything was ok, but there was things that could be done to make things better. When you purchase non-refundable room, it would be nice if the key was ready and waiting for you. We waited in line at least 15 minutes, then took another 10 minutes to get us the key. Room: mattress needs to be rotated/renewed, cobwebs in corners, tv should be bigger, more bath towels, at least 4 (we had 2). The parking lot could be cleaned up and the landscaping better. It's ok for the price, I guess.

The price can't be beat at this inexpensive hotel. It is very clean, the rooms and lobbies have all been redone and it is extremely well cared for. The breakfast is a light cut the little breakfast and the best suits you then this is a great hotel to stay at

We stayed one night on our way back to PA from FL. We checked in late (after 10pm) and left early (before 8am) but the rooms were clean and spacious. The water pressure in the shower was great. Front desk staff were friendly. I didn’t eat breakfast but my kids did before we left so that was nice. Price was right and would stay again if in the area.

The room was disguising. MOLD on walls. The room had an odor. Sink had no stopper so when water was turned on nasty mold smell filled the room. I have pictures to back up my statement of mold all over room especially bathroom behind ironing board.

Property is convient to 95 and close to many dining options. Staff very nice and rooms were clean and comfortable. Outside needs updating and rooms are a bit loud. Overall, nice for one night.

We have stayed here in the past during our drives to Florida from the North East, but will be looking at other options in the future. The included breakfast was disappointing with few choices. The door to our room sticks and was difficult to open and close. The room was reasonably clean but needs updating.

Nice place to stay. Do not let the outside appearance discourage your choice. The room was nice and clean. The shower had plenty of hot water and power. The bed was big and spacious. Room was cleaned everyday, fresh towels everyday. Not the ritz, but still a comfortable. Quiet also.

Good value and safe location. 2nd time I’ve stayed at this hotel as a respite for a golfing trip in Myrtle Beach (coming from Charlotte).

Everything was pretty good until just before we left. The tub drain was very slow and so you stood in ankle deep grey water. Then just as we were picking up over suitcases to leave, a cockroach ran across the top of the dresser. It didn’t bother me but my wife sort of freaked out.

Older hotel but the rooms were clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Worth noting there was only 1 towel, 1 hand towel and 2 wash clothes left on the sink when my reservation was for 4 people...Check in at night was a breeze and the ladies at the front desk were friendly and gracious.. Now here is the issue: Check out is supposed to be at 11 am. At 10:45am house keeping knocked on our door prior to checkout causing a huge distraction as we were trying to assist my child who was having an asthma attack. At exactly 11am we get another knock and then at 11:15 as my husband has our in his hand, the manager comes to the door and instead of inquiring if everything was ok and/or if we needed assistance, he started yelling at my husband, "Housekeeping needs to get into the room now and checkout was 11am." Well we frequent hotels at least 4x a year as well as have hospitality employees in our family and that is NOT the way you interact with hotel guests. His interaction was incredibly rude, unnecessary and uncalled for. Please beware.

The hotel was clean, convenient and reasonably priced. It could use better signage for night entry. We did an overnight on a Sunday, and a lot of neigboring restaurants seemed to close early. One exit south was a mall with a lot of options to dine. Will definitely consider staying again when traveling.

The property is also located in a very dark place so I was a little concerned about safety, we were alright and did not have any problem but it is an outside hotel so safety was a concern.

Old motel with awful smell

We booked this room for an overnight on our drive to Florida from PA. Room was not as advertised. Very dingy, dated and felt unsafe at night. Parking lot area was in rough shape. The beds were the worst beds me or my family have ever slept on. Sleeping on concrete might have been better. Back hurt for two days after that night. Beware.

Good stay for a traveling night. Front desk attendant was very nice. Room was good. Bed was comfortable, but pillows were too soft for me. We skipped the free breakfast - very limited.

This is my 3rd time staying here. The Rooms always clean and bathroom also. The rooms could use some renovations but other than that, it’s a good place to stop to divide a trip from NJ to FL or visa versa. Can’t beat the price. Always a quick check in.

The floor was filthy. The front counter woman was extremely rude. She acted like it was some kind of chore to wait on me.

The room was clean and comfortable. We had a broken toilet seat and the air conditioner was leaking on the inside making the carpet wet and the room musty smelling. Everyone was kind and friendly.

Breakfast in the morning was kind of light, not muck to choose from. We were looking for waffles or pancakes in the morning. There was none, other than that. It was OK.

The AC unit had evidently been leaking condensation and the carpet was very wet between the AC and the bed. The metal parts of the lamps were rusted as a restocking the very humid air. Pillows were obviously very old, misshapen, and different sizes and kinds. The shower and tub were slippery and had nothing to hold onto. The flooring of the bathroom sink and counter was very slippery and dangerous due to some product that had been applied. This was the second room we were assigned. We were unable to close the door of the first room bc it wasn’t hung properly.

The carpet needs to be cleaned regularly or removed. It had a bad smell!!

For an inexpensive one-night stay just off the highway, this is fine. The continental breakfast was a bit sparse, but it appears they don't have a kitchen, so their options would be limited.

Overall, I’d stay here again. Unfortunately, the A/C didn’t work correctly in my room during our stay. My parents, who also stayed at the same time had perfect AC in theirs, so I’ll chalk it up to the luck of the draw. Would definitely stay again for a stopover on the way to the beach.

Pulling in I was immediately met with a very well lit parking lot which yave me a peace of mind. After enduring a 9 hour trip my legs were sore and I was ready to lay down so it was awesome to be met with smiles from the concierges' on duty that Wednesday night and for the extra effort and courtesy feom the concierge that assisted me of being put in a room downstairs. The description stated that there would be breakfast however since I hadnt planning on eating breakfast in the AM i didnt give much thought to not being told what time breakfast started and ended at check-in. There are signs posted that inform guests that breakfast must be eaten in the lobby, which I think may be a benefit to the hotel but an inconvenience for guests who prefer to eat in the privacy of their room. In my opinion maybe restricting the amount if food that is taken to the room may deter guests from taking more than they will eat at one time. I will admit I have been known to grab a couple of muffins for the road, which I would imagine if a majority of guests grabbed food for the road would increase the hotels food expenses. Walking in the room the first thing I noticed was the smell of the carpet that most hotels that still have carpet in their rooms have it wasnt off putting but it wasnt inviting either. The room's appearance overall was clean. Channel guide was a plus as well. There were restaurant and gas options nearby. Only minutes away from 95.

It’s a 10 from Len…clean, fresh, quiet. Everything is brand new, shower, carpet, curtains, bedding. Great stay located back off the road a bit compared to all the other hotels in the area so very quiet! It does have outside doors but makes it easier to move things in from the car. Front desk friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again when traveling through the Florence area

My kids couldn’t eat early, and since we were traveling and in a hurry, I tried to take a small amount of food (just a piece of bread, butter, and cheese) to the car for them. I was told I couldn’t do that, and they had to come in and eat in the cafeteria. It was very embarrassing, and I felt disrespected. In the end, my children didn’t eat anything, and it felt like a waste of money and time.

It’s a great spot for a stopover or even a short stay while exploring the area.

The room felt cold and damp. The bed had a rubber-like sheet and pad that felt clammy. I was tired and it was midnight, but I knew that sleeping in the bed would be impossible and refused the room and left. I hope that I will be able to get a refund from Expedia!

Guest checking in before us had credit card issues which caused us to wait for our check-in after midnight. Motel was very clean and staff was friendly. Rooms could use some upgrading, but were decent for just overnight.

The room inside was new, well-outfitted, and smelled very nice. I thought I was in a Hilton or Marriott. Only drawbacks are there are three buildings on the hotel campus and I was in an upstairs one--no elevator. It had the outdoor walkway like a motel, but the room inside was like a nice 3-star or higher room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. I was nervous to be staying alone but felt safe. Many other hotels nearby, extremely well lit, and everyone I passed was friendly. It was pretty quiet except for my last night when I could hear my neighbors, but nothing disruptive.

Good for the 24 hours we needed it

This is a highway exit hotel and I don’t usually expect a lot. However, the staff was very nice and expedient with our check in/check out process. As a traveling professional I have become very acclimated to what I will find in/from hotels. During this trip this was our first over night and the experience was a very good one. Rooms were clean and spacious. The only down side was that the walls were thin and we could hear everything in the room next door. But overall it was a good experience. I would stay again.

This motel is great for the price. It is clean and simple with all the amenities in the room of a larger hotel. There's plenty of places to eat and a Starbucks right on the corner.

This is not a fancy hotel but it is clean, easily accessible from I95, has an adequate breakfast and is budget friendly. Will stay here again.

Comfortable bed n clean. Have been staying here overnight on our way to FL for 4 years now. Everytime, its been nice
