The hospitality was unbeatable here at the Carr Manison. The women who runs the bed and breakfast was outstanding and made the whole trip 10x better. Whenever we are back in Galveston we will be staying here again - you cannot beat the price, service, and overall experience here.

Breakfast was very nice. The owner talked to me about my preferences and honored them. The stairs are steep. Better handrails would help. There is a lot of light from the garden lights at night.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Carr Mansion! This historical home was charming, clean, and comfortable. Joellyn was a fabulous host; she served delicious breakfast and offered several tips/ recommendations for activities around the island. The location of the home is near to several other historical landmarks/ museums, the Strand, and the Seawall. We highly recommend booking a stay at the Carr Mansion for a relaxing trip with a home-like feel that typical hotels just can’t match. We will be back!

The room was lovely, and the bed was comfortable. Our hostess, Joellen, was friendly and courteous. She makes a mean waffle! Since we were the only guests that evening, we had a lovely conversation with her. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Galveston.

We arrived for check-in and were greeted by the manager. She showed us the details of the room like the airco/heater. Our room was clean, beautiful, charming, and filled with antiques. It was like staying at a wealthy uncle and aunt's house. I thought a lot about the history of the house and wondered who might have been to parties there a hundred years ago. The neighborhood was quiet, and pretty close to the Strand and the beach. We'd definitely stay there again.

Unique place. Rundown but they are trying to restore I think? Doorknob literally fell off when we turned it. Their dogs are running around inside so you have to be careful to not let them out. No shower or blow dryer in the room. Floors filthy and I got a burr in my foot trying to step into the bathtub to rinse my feet off! Lighting terrible unless you open curtains to look out on balcony that is falling apart. Buffet breakfast we were told to be there at 9:30 (several times) at 9:50 we were served a plate with a waffle, a couple of berries, and a sausage link. No buffet! Tea or coffee to drink. Not even regular water or ice. My partner ate both of our plates since I don’t eat waffles or sausage or drink tea or coffee and the waffle was tiny. I would have been fine with water & toast but not available. For the price I could have stayed anywhere else and been far happier. The location was ok but still had to drive to the beach, shopping, cruise terminal, and it was not a safe neighborhood.

Breakfast was outstanding waffles made from scratch. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. Bed and mattress is too high. I'm 80 and had to use a somewhat slippery step to get up onto the bed. Tub wall is too high. I had to take a very scary step into and out of the tub without slipping, and no grab bar to hang onto.

The house was lovely and our room was very nice and comfortable. Nowhere to hang clothes in room Hardly any toiletries, no iron or ironing board Disappointing breakfast - very poor choice. Puzzled when we given recommendations for breakfast elsewhere. Not what we expected from a highly rated B&B! Felt rather short-changed.

The best thing about Carr Mansion is the hostess. She is charming and accommodating. The house needs a deep cleaning and painting in some places though. The carriage house and backyard are not appealing, so stick to the main house. The breakfast was simple but good.

The Carr Mansion is a beautiful bed and breakfast but the security of the home is not the best. We walked right in mid afternoon (because of a baby shower event) and continued directly to the room without any assistance. We expected an adult-only, quiet, romantic vibe and walked into chaos. Despite that, the room was beautiful and I really enjoyed it.

The house is from the late 1800s so you're staying in a piece of history. Loved that. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the Honeymoon room, which has a king size bed. It was roomy and quaint. The bed is super high but they provide steps to climb on (I'm short so I did use them!) AC works great. Noise from outside might be an issue for very light sleepers. There was an alarm clock on the nightstand that went off in the middle of the night. I should have mentioned it to the hostess but failed to do so. That should be removed (cell phone apps render it completely unnecessary).

Greeted promptly, host was super friendly and recommended a great spot for breakfast (thanks, sunflower bakery was EXCELLENT). It is a very cool old house but definitely in need of maintenance which the owner is working on. The room was comfortable even if not exactly as pictured. We enjoyed the standalone tub and there was plenty of hot water. The day we chose to stay there wasnt breakfast provided (maybe more of a weekend thing?) But the host had tons of snacks and a very well stocked tea and coffee bar. We did like how quiet it was there and appreciated it being a 21+ property. Not walking distance to the main attractions on the island but a straight shot driving wise getting around. Overall we enjoyed our night there.

Was only able to stay one night as the condition of the hotel was terrible. There was mold in the bathtub along with stains all over the bathtub. Whole bedroom was dirty with old furniture. Walls had cracks and paint was falling off.The only good thing about that bed and breakfast was the host who was exceptional with great customer service. This is by far the worst place we've stayed on. We only statyed because we got there super late and were really tired because of a long drive there. We left first thing in the morning.

I think that the rooms are a bit overpriced. The decorations are functional but did not have the attention/cuteness factor that I am used to in a place like this. Everything I walked to was down from the house...I wish it was just a bit closer to the events I wanted to see. I would still consider stay at this location again - but in a different room. One more suited to my taste.

Unfortunately the room we reserved was given to another couple so of course my girlfriend was disappointed since it’s not a motel 6 where all the rooms are the same…she searched for 2 days until she found The Honeymoon suite and she loved it but of course it was given to another couple. We were assigned The Preacher which was the opposite of what she was looking for. It was nice though…just very underwhelming after I realized I spent $303 on one night for a room we didn’t reserve.

The house was immaculately clean and the breakfast was well done. However, the air conditioning was not working properly and the room was hot, there was a tiny sink in the bathroom with no room to put things. There were very sheer curtains which did not permit the room to get dark at night because of lights on outside. This was not what we expected fir a $540 overnight stay.
