Holiday Inn Express & Suites Galveston Beach by IHG

I have stayed at this location once before. It is very convenient to some close by restaurants and I had a decent view from my room. The only thing that didn't work was the elevator in the parking garage. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I will stay here again.

Clean with a nice view. Parking garage is about a block away. Not convenient for elderly or handicap. Not safe for a single woman to be walking from the parking garage to the hotel at night. Also, when I went to check in 24 hours after my parents checked in, the staff could not find my parents reservation and told me that there was someone with a different last name staying in their room. My parents were indeed in the correct room. I had to call up to the room and ask my 85-year-old mother to come down to the lobby to prove that they existed and they were in the room that I was trying to access.

The rooms are clean and spacious. The parking garage is away from the hotel. So when you check in ensure to take down your stuff with you or else you have to drag your beach stuff and luggage from 1/2 a block away. The staff was nice and hotel had nice beach views.

If you want wifi, you either use their non-secured access or you have to sign up for membership with IHG to get access to secure wifi. And the process was not straight forward. After finishing the water bottles that were in the room at check-in the staff member who came to clean the room told us you only get one unless you belong to some club??? The room was very nice, the breakfast was good. If you are willing to pay the extra for parking and are a member so you get the secure wifi, this is a nice hotel.

Great location on Seawall Blvd with easy access to the beach, local restaurants and the Strand. Garage parking available for reasonable daily fee. Breakfast was standard hotel fare but coffee available in lobby all day. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.

I was laying in the bed watching tv, when something caught my eye. It was a roach crawling on my pillow. I jumped up and tried to kill it, but it got away. I immediately called the front desk to ask for a room change, but the front desk clerk advised that they were completely book. I advised that I wasn't staying in that room and they had to do something. He asked if I'd like someone to come to the room to try to get rid of it. I said yes. The guy came and at first we couldn't find the roach. Eventually, we found it and he disposed of it. I had a restless night because I didn't know if more roaches was in the room. Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again.

Beach view faced buildings and a vacant parking lot. Side view of beach about 30%. We asked for ocean view at check-in and was told “the room your getting will be fine. You probably won’t stay in your room anyway”. I said we wanted to sit on balcony and enjoy the morning coffee view of ocean and would pay extra but they would not change it for us.

The carpets were kind of filthy and could use the good vacuuming, especially in front of the doors to the rooms and the tables could’ve been wiped off a little better in the rooms and the shower had a little black mold around the bottom, other than that, the place was fantastic. Perfect Location I’m sure it’s just because the quick turnaround they can’t get everything exactly perfect would definitely recommend and will definitely stay there again

It wasn’t even hot in Galveston. It was maybe 80° and the air conditioner in the room could not keep up with the exterior humidity. It was truly pathetic. The beds are worn out. It’s like sleeping on a pillow. There’s way too soft. This hotel is in dire need of a PIP.

Unfortunately we booked during Mustang weekend which was bad enough, got absolutely no sleep. Aside from that, the pullout was uncomfortable, the breakfast lack luster, screen for the wall cooling unit was busted and pillows were sheets of paper. Staff was unprofessional and unfriendly. The area was skeevy. Do not recommend.

The main reason I selected the Holiday Inn Express was because it had a Beach view room available. I selected it, I paid for it upfront, at check-in I again requested the beach view I had paid for only to be given a room with an large open field with just a partial view of the beach. I again approached the hotel front desk and requested a room with a beach view and was only offered a room with less of a beach view than the one I had already been given. No thanks to the Holiday Inn Express Galveston Beach for ruining my wife and I 9th Anniversary weekend.

I enjoyed the cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The original guy who checked us in, reversed our check in process, but the manager stepped in and handled the situation for us.

The breakfast menu was not as good as I remember it being the last time, but I got full I had a beach view room. and the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Sunrise from your bedroom overlooking the pier is a dream start to a vacation. All the rooms overlooking the ocean were fantastic. The staff were incredibly fun inviting and friendly. The food was delicious when a common breakfast staple gets turned into delightful goodness every morning is something to wake up for early and come back to. Thank you, Galveston for the cute little treats. The kids were able to pick up and enjoy and the fun games on the side.

Had a balcony room. The rooms has a lot of space and can see the ocean from to balcony. Staff was very helpful and nice. They also have a really good breakfast selection! Only down fall is getting across to the beach was kinda hard. There is no cross walk by this hotel.

AC worked great- 👍 there was one issue - something made a loud banging noise that was a bit annoying while trying to sleep. The room was cleaned every day and the staff were excellent.

It was less than a mile walk to Pleasure Pier. Room was nice and clean. Beds were super comfy. The Balcony was huge and really enjoyable.

This hotel has a great location on Galveston Island. The Pleasure Pier is almost right across the street. There is a great restaurant and bar next door. The room was spacious and clean and even had a small balcony and a view of the beach! All of this and the price didn't break our bank. We will definitely stay there again.

The room was very clean! Beds were comfortable and the room was very spacious. We booked a oceanfront room and we loved the view but we got the second floor so just be mindful that you can definitely hear all the cars with loud music or that are speeding it gets very loud I was woken up at least 3 times by loud cars but that was just me a light sleeper. Breakfast was meh just basic but I can see myself staying here again.

Parking garage said 6'9" on the outside. but only 6'6" on the inside when you go out. Luckily we found a spot in the lower area. Breakfast was ok. Room was clean. We paid for ocean view but it ended up being obstructed view for the side of the room not a full ocean view like we expected.

Our stay at Holiday Inn Express went really well. Loved the location, breakfast was really good, and the rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were friendly. I loved the convenience of being able to walk down to The Spot restaurant for dinner. We did come in January so it was really cold but it was worth it. I would definitely recommend staying here when in Galveston and can’t wait to stay again!

Room was fairly nice. Staff basically acted like, OH WELL sorry you have to walk up-stairs in parking garage because of broken elevator and OH WELL nothing for you to enjoy due to fire pit not working. Just didn't offer any suggestions or anything to make our stay more enjoyable.

Was given a first floor room. I was not a fan. My room overlooked the restaurant next-door and was noisy till about 10 PM. No privacy whatsoever. Had to keep windows closed at all times. Woke up several times during the night with people going in and out the back door and it’s slamming. Also heard a bunch of echoing from talking with people in the lobby area. I normally do like this hotel but the first floor is a definite, no for me.

The rooms are nice; but the entire hotel, especially the ground floor smells like it is covered in mold or something is rotten.

From checking in to checking out horrible customer services i booked a room with view they mentioned hotels. Com was false advertisement i paid for a room that was not given. We had to hunt down the housekeeping staff for towels and trash bags i requested them in the AM didn't get them till like 2 pm. Front lady checking was so rude did not try to make ours stay comfortable. Ever again will i use hotels.com or stay in a Holiday day inn.

The sofa bed was abysmal. The breakfast was essentially non existent. By 8 am if something ran out too bad they were not refilling anything. No idea what the later groups ate. Disappointed to say the least, wouldn’t stay here again

I wasn't told that guest parking costs extra. I had to pay $15 for parking at this hotel. I selected Ocean View at reservation. I got half of Ocean View (see photos). Room/bathroom has nice modern style and nice accessories (see photos), but wooden floor is dirty. I walked bare feet for 5 minutes. Bottom of my feet turned black.

Balcony view wasn’t the greatest. But it didn’t matter.

The room we were first assigned had roaches in it, the small ones that I know come in swarms. We saw 4, but a couple of them were going into the wall behind the TV, so who knows how many there were. We got reassigned a new room, but the front desk attendant didn't seem alarmed... like this has been a common problem before, just another night of shifting people around. You can be sure I'm leaving a public review regarding this. Your breakfast buffet was also horrible... the turkey sausage tasted of nothing and had a terrible texture, the eggs were so very clearly badly overcooked that I didn't even bother taking any.

I paid for an ocean-view room and they gave me one on another side of the hotel. They didn’t refund me the price difference that I overpaid. I’m going to file a complaint to see if I can get my money back. The A/C was not working well, and I think the rooms are not very clean. The breakfast was poor; by 8:30 a.m. they had already run out of milk and pancakes, and only one of the machines to make them was working. The elevator was not clean and the smell was very unpleasant.

The air conditioning system was poor. The elevators had no AC working in them and it was very hot. The hallway AC was poor at best. You could feel the humidity from the Gulf, in the room, poor AC.

The pool was not clean and the location was in a run diwn area.

I didn’t appreciate having to pay to park my vehicle in your parking garage. This should have been provided at no charge for staying at your hotel. Very disappointed.

Room safe box was not working, we informed the front desk staff, they did not care to fix it nor replace the room. Terrible noise from cars on the street, could not sleep the whole night.

We were in town for our annual cruise. The hotel was amazing! Beds were comfortable and the whole place was very clean! Customer service was excellent! I will stay again!

It started with a $15 per night parking fee that was not listed on Hotels.com for a parking garage across the street. You’re given a QR code to scan to enter and leave that works when it wants to, usually after several attempts. The elevator on the garage didn’t work. The hotel is very clean, the pool area is decent but the pool closing nightly at 9pm is a little ridiculous being outside near the beach and a vacation spot. Hotel elevators are very slow and hot, my biggest complaint are the hot hallways. Two small vents on each side putting out not very cool air, I asked the front desk the first night and it never got fixed. It seriously felt like it was 80 degrees.

Everything was great however there was no cable TV guide so you had to search around to figure out what was on, which was very annoying.

Nice hotel to see Galveston. We stayed 2 nights before a cruise. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. $1 trolley 1 block down takes you everywhere. Didnt wake in time for breakfast so cant reply on that.

If you drive a big truck. Do not pay for the parking. You won’t fit. Lol

Attempted to check in and was asked “Did we text you to tell you your room was ready?” Ahh no just trying to check in? They took my cellphone# and told me they would text. A hour later they took the names of all the people sitting in the lobby (cuz our cars had filled up the front parking area) to get us checked in. Thank goodness we didn’t leave the lobby earlier! Not a great way to start our mini vacation.

I’ve stayed at this property SEVERAL times, with no issues, but this time, CLEARLY, a sewage pipe or something related to sewage, had burst. Instead of the front desk doing ANYTHING to get me away from this uninhabitable smell, ROBERT, at the front desk, lied to the Expedia customer service representative, and said that he didn’t think the smell was that bad, and that he’d had no other complaints. LIES! My sister overheard someone complaining to him about the smell as she was checking in. I was on the 5th floor, and that was where the smell was concentrated. The rest of my family, 10 people total, were on the 6th floor (slightly smelly), and the 4th floor (no smell). My husband, daughter, and myself spent the entire weekend in this port-a-potty smelling room and hallway with no attempts from ANY of the staff to move us to a suitable space. I also paid for a beach view room, but my view was a dirty, abandoned parking lot. I’m STILL highly irritated at having to pay so much money for such a horrible experience.

Our first time staying In galveston, our flight arrived about 4 hours before check in and the front desk accommodated us but letting us check in early. It’s in a great location close to the beach and shopping. Great family friendly environment. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable

Unfortunately, the hotel was not able to help us with airport transportation early in the morning. We were unable to flag an Uber or Lyft and the hotel staff tried to help us with taxi services that were not interested in the driving my family and I at that time. The hotel needs to be better equipped to help guests with travel itineraries, especially on days that there are no cruises departing. We had decided to extend our stay to explore Galveston after our cruise and regretted it tremendously.

The only thing i didnt like it was the shower towels were dirty out of 6 in the bathroom 4 were dirty and stain.

Property check in on website says 4pm, however I called around 2 to see if we could get early check in. They said no, they were still cleaning and that it would be normal check in time. I said ok, got there at 4:10, staff member says it will probably be another hour or more until we can get in our room because of max capacity night before?? We were coming from out of town, exhausted from drive, no prior heads up that check in would be later than our reservation stated. Staff did not offer anything to make it better or to compromise for my family of 5 waiting for our room in the lobby for over an hour. They said they’d call when the room was ready, did not call, had to keep checking with front desk and finally it was ready. Super inconvenient!! Other than that, it was clean and easy walk to the beach. Probably wouldn’t come back because of the lack of communication regarding check in.

The facility location was great. We had a great ocean view. The staff was friendly and informative. The only negative was the parking garage and the inconsistency of the entrance gate operating correctly.

Overall for the price I paid compared to what I got I wouldn’t stay here again.

We could only get by elevator and the ocean view was only partial and I had ask a worker to pick a dead roach in the dining area

Location, pool and coffee… All day coffee bar was just beyond!!!

We stayed here in preparation for a cruise we were going on the next day. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and the balcony of our room was a nice addition. We had a nice view of the Gulf of Mexico (or Gulf of America - whatever your jam is) that also overlooked the pier. The staff recommended 'The Spot' next door to eat, which was a really great place to eat. General breakfast items were offered. We would definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area.

Staff is very friendly and cordial. The hotel is clean all the time.

The elevator floor had puddles of water from children running in and out from the pool and it was a hazard. The tv had basic channels. You can’t order movies or log into prime or Netflix like other hotels so it made staying in boring. Especially if you have kids. It’s miserable. And to have to pay $16 to park was the straw that broke the camels back. I’m for the lack of tv entertainment alone parking should be free. This was my LAST time staying at a Holiday Inn Express.

The people working the desk were very friendly. My only dislike was the parking. It is paid parking, and uses QR code on a paper hang down tag for your car for entry and exit of the parking garage. If you didnt hold the paper in just the right position, it would take forever to get in and out, but did, eventually, work, after a few error messages. I would definitely stay again, despite this.

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. We liked that it was on the Seawall and close to everything Galveston has to offer. The pool was refreshing after some time on the beach. The fresh cookies each day were so good and our son looked forward to grabbing one as we were coming in from the day.

Dont like to be charged for parking for 2 days. Check in at 5 pm. Check out 10 am the next day. Got charged for 2 days. Was not there for nearly 18 hours.

The included breakfast was very good.

Our room, mostly the bathroom had a strong cat piss smell. We called the front desk to be moved but the hotel was sold out so there were no other rooms available to move to.

The breakfast was ok, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The biggest downfall was the parking, and I had trouble the whole weekend with the parking ticket being accepted...I think it was more operator error than the machine though...the parking was not ideal by any means though.

We really enjoyed

Check-in was painful. We arrived at 4pm, check-in time. There were no rooms available, people were piled up in groups everywhere. They were not sure when our room would be ready. We finally got in about 5:45. We had dinner reservations we almost missed. Staff was really stressed, but they did their best. Room was nice and clean, but halls were pretty dirty.

Very clean property. Someone is always moping the floors or attending to common areas. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
