This is our second time going there; the first time we got the king size suit and this time I reserved the 2 queen size beds, love their had a mini fridge and sink. The room was spacious and on the 2nd floor this time which it was better. The free breakfast is a plus, they are fixing their hot tube but all good. The mattresses were comfortable the pillows no too much, too thick more me. We will return soon

We had a girls' trip, staying from Friday through Sunday. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they were very helpful. Breakfast is complimentary. There is a hot tub and sauna on the property. They ran out of towels for the hot tub on Saturday night, but aside from that, it was fine. It can be noisy, and the walls are thin if you're a light sleeper. The room was clean; since there are four girls, we often ran out of towels and Kleenex.

Property was under construction during my stay. They never notified me of this. They worked on rooms all around me until 9:30pm (at which time I complained to front desk). They could have put me in any part of the hotel but chose to put me in the worst possible room. The gym is a freaking joke. A tiny museum of 2 prehistoric cardio machines and some free weights. It was easy to see why they were working on the rooms, my bathroom window was rusted shut and there was no air conditioner in my room.

The hotel is run-down and not well maintained (May 2026). Mold and hairs in the bathroom, Shower gels ripped out. Breakfast is a catastrophe: very limited offering, frequently out-of-stock (no coffee let at 9.30am, no creamer, no plain yoghurt). This also continues with not enough parking space available as well as no elevator-- Would not recommend to visit- rip-off.

Place is a little dated. Bathroom faucet did not have hot water. Spider webs on the deck railings. Comfortable bed. Front desk staff friendly. Hot and cold breakfast options were basic and ample. If you are here to golf at Half Moon Bay course, this is a very convenient place to stay. That’s why we were here.

When you open the top drawer the 2 below came with it. The closet door would not open and close right. There were dead bugs on the ceiling of the shower. I found a live pincher bug in the rug for your feet in the bathroom. The faucet in the vanity area did not work right. We were not told there was major construction going on. We did not know we were on a golf course and they started mowing every morning at 6:30 am so no sleeping in. The maid redid our room 1 day and did not refill the coffee and water. We were there early and check in is 4:00 however our room was still not ready so they gave us another at 4:15. There is an alarm somewhere in the complex that goes off every day at around 5Pm and finally went and told them at 8pm and they found it and turned it off but happened again the next day.

Beautiful property built next to a beautiful golf course. Our room was picture perfect with a view of Hole 4 and the lake in view as well.

Room was large, comfortable and quiet. Balcony and fireplace were extra bonuses. Breakfast was above average and pool and jacuzzi were most enjoyable. Also the group gathering and fire pit areas were well kept and inviting. Landscaping was also a nice amenity for the property. Overall, a most enjoyable stay. A little improvement in room maintenance would be helpful (refrigerator wasn't very cold and door didn't close correctly, etc.). A barbecue for guests in the group gathering area would have been a real plus! Water pressure could also be improved for the toilets and showers.

It’s our go to when in Half Moon Bay. It’s clean safe and in a great location. Plus their breakfast was very good!!!

We had a great stay at Half Moon Bay Lodge. The room was large and clean, and the beds were comfortable. A great asset was the heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast was average but coffee was available at the dining area throughout the day. There was a number of small problems: there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, and there are no bell boys to help with the luggage, if one stays on the 2nd floor. Some of the furniture did not work very well, the dresser's drawers kept sliding out!! Also, one needs to arrange with the front desk the room's housekeeping. But, the price is right!!

The hot tub was pretty dirty. I was pleasantly surprised when I got in the room.

Great place with reasonable prices-clean room, good shower, bed was comfy. Biggest complaint was my room was too warm, because I think the heating pipeline was underneath the floor. But I have nothing bad to say; excellent staff, courteous, helpful, and committed to their jobs.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor sitting areas are nice. Otherwise it is fine, but definitely not what they portray themselves to be online. You can’t control the temp in your room except by opening/closing the very dirty window over the shower (luckily I’m tall enough to reach it). If you don’t keep that window open, a very weird smell develops. The balcony is covered in spider webs and when I got there the balcony door wasn’t shut all the way/locked which was unsettling. It’s an outdoor entrance/more motel style so you have to carry your luggage upstairs. Found ants in the bathroom after dinner trash had sat for less than 10 hours. Construction was very loud. The gym had 1 bike and 1 treadmill on top of each other and some weights, opted not to use it as I had planned. The WiFi was very spotty. Very thin walls, can hear a ton. Their site implies that they’re in a walkable location which it’s really not, you need a car or uber. Overall would not recommend.

There was a smoke smell in the room that wouldn't go away. The bathroom sink looked dirty and overall the bathroom smelled moldy indicating poor cleanliness. The online pictures made it look much better than reality. Overall overpriced but the location is nice.

The view was beautiful, we did not use the pool. Breakfast was great! The restaurant across the parking lot was very good!!!

This hotel was not good

There appeared to be alot of construction work going on and not sure if this resulted in our room not being able to run any water from the shower faucet but spent the night without being able to shower/bathe. Not having running water for a shower/bath is unacceptable. Had to check out next morning and didn't stay long enough to find out what happened so left unbathed

Comfortable beds, clean room. Heating system confusing and room was very hot when we arrived. Called the front desk to find out the thermostat on the wall didn’t operate the wall heater. Controls were on the heater itself. Everything else good but not outstanding.

The outside area is well kept. Our kids loved the pool and grass area. The rooms are really old. Our room didn’t have a clean smell at all. There was mold in the bathroom and no shower curtain in the shower. We asked several times to assistance with the shower curtain but never got it resolved.

This is an older hotel, kept in good condition and my balcony room had a partial view of the ocean. The facility’s attempt at “contactless registration” created a little confusion for me, but a staff member came when called and clarified it all.

This property is very dated. The grounds are nice. Our room had a fireplace and the minute we opened the door the smell of smoke was all consuming. I’m not sure what wood they use in the fireplaces, but it had a very odd smell that was overwhelming. The room was clean, and very large. We appreciated that part. We also loved the fact that we could open the sliding glass door to the garden area to circulate some fresh air. I have a feeling that this place was probably top notch when it was built. It served its purpose for our one night in the area.

Clean room, outdoor pool, great staff

Room was decent, smelled musty and sliding door to patio was fogged up and smelled really dewey in the morning. Bathroom sink was pretty but very low and shower head was also very low. Otherwise it was decent, breakfast included was ok.

Rooms are very clean & spacious. This is our 2nd time staying here and look forward to planning our next stay. Sitting around the fire pits at night is always a way to end the night. Having breakfast included is always a plus!

The pictures made it seem like this was an upscale hotel near the ocean with a nice common area. The room was old - the entire hotel was under construction, and someone was loudly cleaning outside my room at midnight. The walls were thin and the amenities from the pictures don’t match the experience.

Breakfast was wonderful but as a black coffee drinker the coffee was undrinkable. Checkin was a breeze and we asked for an early check-in and was accommodated. Great restaurant with great service right in front. Looked some rooms were being renovated. Hopefully ours will be soon as it is needed. Nice big spacious room. Would return if in the area.

Lovely location and grounds. Nice sauna, pool, hot tub, and fire pit area. Breakfast is standard with eggs, breakfast meat, bagels, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice. Biggest issue is there is no AC, only heat. If you sleep hot and need it cold, this is not for you. We had to open the sliding door and keep it open all night to stay cool enough and it was still a little warm for our comfort.

Great value for a beautiful lodge near the beach. Excellent customer service we were surprised to find out we could check out bikes for free for two hours. It was a wonderful way to explore the beach. I would stay again.

Stayed here and had a really great experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and very well kept. The breakfast was excellent, and the amenities made the stay even better. The location was perfect—close to everything but still quiet and peaceful, which made it easy to relax. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

The apartment is spacious and comfortable, and the staff are polite, but there were a lot of ants in our room. We filed a complaint and were told they would refund part of the amount we paid! But that never happened!

No air conditioning! I have never stayed at a hotel that didn’t have air conditioning. It was 90 degrees and we were unable to sleep and very uncomfortable. The lower floor rooms that they give to people staying with dogs, do not have windows. They have a sliding glass door, which is unsafe, given the area and proximity to the highway. No security. No dog bags. Very uncomfortable beds and outdated room interiors. I do not recommend this property. Stay away!

Arrived and was very dismayed at first there was no AC but the room cooled down very quickly. Guess thats one of the perks of a coastal town. Rooms are very nice. Bed was so comfy. Got a wonderful nights sleep and a lovely continental breakfast in the morning. Would definitely like to stay there again.

Breakfast was basic but ok. They didn’t replenish yoghurt or bagels fast enough to keep up with guest demand. We did have a lovely view of the golf course.

Breakfast was basic, it would be less boring if they change it a little bit every other day. Swimming, hot tub, children books and games, reasonable price, overall a good hotel for family.

Terrific location! One has the ability to explore San Francisco during the day while enjoying quiet and solitude at night. The beach and golf is a mile down the road. We loved it! And will definitely be back!

From check In to check out it was an amazing experience. We were there to visit San Francisco and San Jose, the location was a perfect midway point between the two cities. The room/lodge itself was clean. We found the beds very soft and comfortable. The shower was hot. The pool/hot tub were great especially after walking so much (Alcatraz, lol). The staff was incredible! I don't know if I will be able to write it correctly, to do them justice. Very welcoming, great suggestions for area restaurants/events, professional and authentic. For example, I requested an extra blanket. When housekeeping came up in less than 5 minutes, he had options to make sure I was all set. It was really the small things that seemed to set this hotel apart from others. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Interior of room looks recently updated and nice. The heater in the room took 3 hours to raise the heat temperature by 3 degrees. The sink in the bathroom seemed very low in height. Exterior of property needs some modernizing. Could be a diamond in the rough but could use some attention.

Very nice hotel. You can tell that it's an older property, but well maintained, with beautiful landscape and golf course views. My room was clean and spacious, and I loved the patio overlooking the recreational and relaxation space. The only "complaint" I have - terrible water pressure in the shower. It was practically a trickle, and I had a hard time regulating the temperature.

Nice location. Friendly, efficient front desk and maintenance staff. Large rooms with Keurig coffee makers appreciated. Carpets and in-room furniture need updating; wood furniture should be replaced or refinished. Biggest complaint is breakfast service. Front desk personnel and signage indicate that breakfast service last until 10. Early morning selections are good and plentiful. However, unless you arrive by 9, many items are gone or need refreshing. This occurred on both mornings of our stay. The 1st morning both juice and fruit bowl were empty and staff was not to be found until 9:50 when they appeared to clean-up. The 2nd morning we arrived at 9:15 and staff was available but indicated that all fruit was gone for the day. Overall, the hotel is convenient with an excellent staff (except breakfast). We would consider it again for a short stay

The hotel charge us extra bec they thought we had a pet . The lady in the front desk when I called tonight sat at 7:00 was rude . I asked her name and she hanged on me . I called again and asked her she hanged up the phone again . So terrible customer service . The hotel itself is good but the customer service was bad . I never a bad customer service before . I just want to know her name , not sure why she need to hung up

Although a slightly older hotel, Half Moon Bay Lodge is impeccably clean. The staff are attentive and kind, and we love that some of the rooms have fireplaces. Some of the rooms overlook the golf coarse at the Ritz, so it is quiet and serene. We look forward to returning!

Lived the size of the room, love they have a welcome gift for my dog and loved that our room had a sliding back door and patio area w/ access to grass for my dog to go out and explore. It was beautiful property and they had a wonderful free breakfast in the morning that was tasty and filling!

The staff was argumentative and rude when I checked in, the breakfast room was overcrowded to the point of not be able to eat breakfast and the offerings at breakfast were minimal. The hot tub was very dirty and was open to use but not sanitary.

The bed was very comfortable. Area's of improvement are better shower curtain. When taking a shower, water spilled outside shower curtain area. The fireplace was a nice touch to make experience memorable. The hot tube and pool were very nice. Overall experience very good. Would recommend for future visits.

But on the jacuzzi was a little dead frog

We have stayed here many times. No complaints here.

We stayed in a single room, but we were given a connecting room. The room adjacent to us had two dogs that barked and yelped throughout the night and the connecting doors are fairly thin, so we could hear it making it difficult to sleep. If you decide to stay here, make sure you have a non-connecting room.

Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Screen to balcony didn’t slide properly. Top drawer of chest kept sliding out on its own. Water knob for sink fell off.

We came down from orange county california and I would love to return to half moon bay. Specifically the lodge here . Thanks for adding to our great family memories ! Gym was adequate , sona , heated pool and jacuzzi people were literally in the pull by eight in the morning so heated properly. Honestly not one complaint. Thane HMB Lodge !!

Overall this property was cute, clean, and had many features including a fire pit and outdoor games which were nice. However, I chose this place over others because it was pet friendly, but had I known what the pet fee was I would have chosen a different place. I do not recommend coming here with a dog unless you are willing to pay $90 (plus tax!) for their stay. In my experience, this is much higher than the average and I was surprised to hear the amount at check in. Otherwise, the rooms and property were nice, I am just disappointed that my pet fee could have paid for a whole additional nights stay.

The room didn’t appear to be very clean. The prior guests had left cut up pills on the bathroom floor. Our heating unit didn’t work very well so we had to ask for additional blankets to stay warm. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful when we called about the heater not working well. I also didn’t like to have to call in advance to have my room freshened up.

Mi perro encontró una pelota de otro perro debajo de la cama y encontre en una esquina, restos de enviltorio de medicinas de pasajeros anteriores. La alfombra estaba con muchos pelos de perro. (No eran de mi perro, porque mi pero es un Xoloitzcuintli sin pelo) 3. Una mañana antes de las 9.30am en el cuarto de un lado golpeaban la pared con un martillo. Evidentemte era reparaciones. Cuando reclamé en revepcion me respondieron que era mantenimiento. A lo que respondí, denerian avisar o simplemente haverlo cuando no molesten a los guespedes que estan ahi por vacaciones, por asintos medicos o por lo que sea. 4. El laboratorio del baño estaba tapado con pelos de perro. Al pedor que porfavor lo revisaran. Me contestaron que era un trabajo grande que podian darnos otro cuarto. Y que podian ayudarnos a mover las cosas. Del piso 2 al 1 sin ascensor. Nadie nos ayudó. (Puede ser algo simple para cualquiera pero para alguien con uma reviente cirugía como yo, no fué simple. 5. Antes de las 8.30am estaban cortanto el pasto. Obvio que son cosas que se deben hacer. Pero a u. Horario prudente como el mantenimiento y reparaciones.

It’s very pricey, considering that it has some flaws being an older building. There’s no air-conditioning and when we came into the room, it was musty same for the gym facility. The toilet was running and not always stopping after flushing. And the shower was not strong at all when having more hot water. They try to circumvent with a different spray head, but it still was inadequate.

The room above us had creaky floors that we heard at 4am. Are room was not refreshed by housekeeping.

Everything was wonderful. The space, the room, the breakfast. It made for a perfect getaway!

Our experience at Half Moon Bay Lodge was the best ever! The room was spacious, super comfortable, and spotless. Everything felt so clean and cozy. The breakfast was delicious, such a great way to start the day! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole stay even better. We’ll definitely be coming back!

This was a great last min stay. The hotel is older and there are signs of that but it was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The sliders were heavy and noisy but the back patio/porch was really nice. We won’t hesitate to stay again

Lovely premises. We enjoyed the clean, spacious room, common recreational spaces, fire pit, and breakfast. It was a relaxed and quiet stay. We at at Joe's restaurant right next door for dinner! It's a short 20 minute walk to the Manhattan beach!

Enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Check in was great with a friendly staff. Older place but is kept up well. Has a nice charm feel. Didn’t realize there was no air conditioning but opening up the patio door and front door cooled the room down nicely. Would stay here again.

The room was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful view. The staff was attentive. Breakfast was delicious with eggs, sausage, and various breads/pastries. The highlight was the waffle maker. Plenty of parking. Beautiful patio. We would come here again.

Really unfriendly check-in host. Checking in was a negative experience, it felt like I was "burdening" the host by asking questions. When I told the host the room had a strong smell she offered an annoyed "it's probably the fire place we don't have other rooms". Overall, it gave the whole experience a negative vibe. I travel often, I understand people can be tired and stressed but having a warm welcoming staff should be a minimal expectation.

The staff is friendly enough and the breakfast felt quaint. If the price is below $125 given the inflated pricing in the area, it’s a decent choice but not an excellent choice.

Great hot continental breakfast! Bathroom could be upgraded in terms of modern features of tiling and shower head, but the faucet at sink lighting up when turned on was a highlight for my preschooler. Piano and board games as well as hot coffee and tea in the community room was much appreciated.

Front desk people were nice and accomodating. Parking plentiful and free. Grounds were clean and generally friendly (lots of pets on premise). Rooms were clean though very dated, especially the bathroom. Water pressure was tragic (trickle). Breakfast okay, we've had better at comparable hotels. Would stay again if looking for a reasonably priced 3* experience

This property was very nice and clean, quiet and friendly. I would definitely revisit again. The fact that a restaurant was a short walk away was very convenient, open for B-L-D.

The room felt old and poorly maintained. Ants in the tub, dirt and mold in the bathroom, and a bedside drawer that wouldn’t stay shut like the floor was slanted. Noise from upstairs and nearby rooms made it hard to relax, and the back area had zero privacy. Breakfast was also disappointing- watery scrambled eggs and barely any options. While I don’t want to assume anything, we were the only guests of color during our stay, and seeing other photos online, it honestly felt like we got the worst view on the property. The only upside was the location tho. Convenient and close to everything but overall, this place seriously needs renovation, better staff training, and more honesty in its listings.

Spacious clean room with a nice fireplace and balcony. Nice garden view and golf view (lucky to have the corner end room, 2nd floor). Beautiful two-story old building, nice details, like Spanish tiles in the bathroom beautiful garden with nice firepit, play area for kids and adults, nice architecture. Also have a nice pool and jacuzzi, and a work out room and ice machine. Front desk employees are nice and friendly, like Carlos, Sarah, and especially, Julie. Julie is awesome! Enjoyed the free bikes and biked toward Ritz Carlton coastal view. (Except my bike got a flat tire hallway through). Beautiful breakfast area with a big tv and a place to hangout and play board games (scrabble, yatzee, candyland, etc). Nice free continental breakfast although the sausages need to be cooked more and the scrambled eggs are a little bland. Waffles are great! Overall stay is excellent!

Lovely stay here- the staff is friendly and accommodating. Everything is clean and well kept, including the pool, spa, and sauna. The gym is tiny, but not unexpected for a smaller property. Breakfast is included as well, which was very convenient. Would certainly stay here again.

Overall was convenient for location but needs an update property conditions and facilitate not clean and old. Positive is Beds were very comfortable but bathrooms needed an update and shower pressure was non existent.

Half Moon Bay Lodge is an easy, relaxing, & comfortable stay in HMB. Some highlights are the available bicycles, Business Spa next door, cold weather, peaceful quiet at night, & all the delicious Seafood restaurants just a short drive away. Look forward to seeing you guys again!

This lovely dog-friendly inn is a perfect place to stay with your pup. On checkin they had gifts for my dog and a list of fog-friendly dining options and things to do in the area. The site itself and the breakfast included were also wonderful. Highly recommend!!!

My husband & I stayed here to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary! We really enjoyed sitting on the patio by the fireplace. We spent our first night out there for several hours listening to music!

The staff at check in were helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is away from the crowded parts of town but not too far away from the harbor or other activities. We loved our first floor room with a view of the sunset through lovely trees each evening. We requested and were able to get a first floor room and microwave. Breakfast included eggs, sausage, cereals, and a waffle machine. The hotel toiletries were Lather, which are cruelty free. The tiling in the bathroom was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Sauna was not working.

I was extremely disappointed upon arriving to our room that there is no central air/AC. Just an overhead fan that only worked on turbo speed and dried out your eyes. Yes the region is cooler, but the room gets very humid and warm without any air circulation. We stay all the time in the central coast/Big Sur area and the hotels all have AC. We could not leave the screen door open as it wouldn’t lock so we had no choice but to close it at night. It is absurd that the hotel does not state ANYWHERE (Expedia or their website) that they do not have AC, if we would have known we would not have spent $700 for two nights sweating. The two stars are for the cleanliness and free parking. But this was absolutely not worth the price.

Such a great little gem. The room decor was so cute and the room toiletries all smelled great and good quality. We absolutely loved the courtyard area and pool. We borrowed bikes one day and went on a beautiful ride on the coastal trail. Plenty of food options nearby and great continental breakfast, the waffles, eggs and sausage were a hit. The only negative was no elevator to the 2nd level and no microwave in the room. Overall such a great little hotel. Would recommend!

His is an older hotel but it is maintained. They have a good breakfast buffet although it used to be better. The staff is nice. There’s no air conditioning which is okay except maybe in September. There was a much needed ceiling fan. The gym is very small but clean and there’s a sauna. Dog friendly. It was noisy during the day but very quiet at night.

The not so good, loose concrete on walkways make for walking hazards and cleanliness was a huge problem. Stains on pillows and linens the doors and window frames were very dirty. Active ants in the bathroom as well as mold. Great location, could be great, but new decor on top of old dirt and mold is just camouflage. Would not return because of mold, stains and bugs. Paid way, way, too much for a room with these types of issues.

Staff were very helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was spacious. We were there for several days, so it would have been nice to have a microwave and furniture for lounging in the room.

Golf trip. Hotel was cool. Bathroom left a little too be desired. Didn't have much interaction with staff. My GF enjoyed her deep tissue massage from spa. Restaurant Joe's was cool. Nothing special, but not bad. Steady stream of locals came in speaking to staff on first name basis. Overall i gave it 8/10.

No a.c., so the room can get humid and warm. Most all rooms have patios/porch, but the screen door was so old it wouldn’t lock, making the option of fresh air overnight non achievable. My ceiling fan stopped in the middle of the night, but the front desk had a small box fan that sufficed. Overall good stay, just warm and uncomfortable at night.

I love coming to Half Moon Bay Lodge. The best parts: the in room fireplace, the patio that leads out to the lawn, it’s very family friendly, the games and firepits, the jacuzzi is great!, the pool is heated, the rooms are a good size, having an in room fridge is great, the parking is free, the breakfast is pretty good. Areas of improvement: the friendliness of front desk staff, the information at check in needs to be more comprehensive or texted, a microwave in the room or fireside room would be great, the rooms are humid so have a slight odor. Location: moderate walk to the beach, short drive to the beach, convenient and safe, best value for all it includes. I stay here at least 2x a year and would likely go more. It’s a great place for 1-2 night stay in HMB.

Stop by half moon Bay Area it is a good property for family

Our room 229 - overlooked the golf course and a small park below. However, the corner of this park had a lot of garbage - dental floss picks, paper, etc. Not a very nice site.

Very comfortable property, large room size, great breakfast, fun pool and yard area. Close by to many restaurants and beaches and hiking.

Rooms not clean

The hotel is an ok stay but a little run down. We did enjoy the walk to the coastal trail and Mullins restaurant.

I was looking forward to our stay, but things started off poorly. Earlier in the week, I called to confirm if we could arrive early, get a pool card, and relax while waiting for our room so I could work. I was told, “Of course!” However, upon arrival Friday, the front desk said they couldn’t give me pool access and would text when the room was ready. No exceptions. My kids were disappointed, my husband took them to the beach, and I worked in my car until I got a text at 3 PM — by then my laptop was dead. That evening at 8:30 PM, I got a call from the front desk saying the guest below complained about “stomping.” I have two kids, but we weren’t stomping, and it was only 8:30 PM. This made me paranoid for the rest of the trip, telling my kids to tiptoe. The property is well kept, with older bathrooms and refrigerators but very clean considering all the dogs and children. Breakfast was great — fresh eggs, sausages, and make-your-own waffles. The breakfast area is spacious with board games, the pool is nicely heated, and the fire pit is lovely for morning coffee or evening wine. Overall, the staff was available but not especially warm or friendly. Between the denied early access, the noise complaint, and the overall service, I’d give this property 3/5.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was nice and bed very comfortable. Liked the cute interesting tile bathroom. Tile floors are old and not the cleanest aesthetic but they were clean. Pool and spa very nice. Breakfast good, liked the make your own waffles.

This property has everything you need. We had a fireplace in our room, chilled champagne upon arrival, the breakfast was delicious and very well put together. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

As a whole, the experience was excellent. I have nothing to complain about whatsoever which says a lot on it's own. As a hotel, it did everything one would expect & did it it well. The surrounding area is pleasant. The hotel sincerely made an improvement to thenfirst trip my partner & I took together.

Everything was great! The room was clean, the staff was super friendly, and we loved the free bikes—we rode just 8 minutes to watch the sunset, which was beautiful. The only small issue was that the body soap was empty, but overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommended!

Always a nice place near the ocean

Dog friendly and quiet but close to everything. Staff is super nice. Patio’s off the rooms are so nice and the dog green space is convenient and large. This is always where we stay for our annual HMB trip.

Traveling with our dog and they were very accommodating. Gave us a room with patio with easy access to large lawn area that backs to golf course. Location is a bit south of town, but very close to the Ritz Carlton and Golf Links course and easy access to beach. Large fire pit was very nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. A bit older but have been updated and I thought it was a nice option for the cost. The staff even gives you a little doggie welcome bag which was cute.

Great service and location was convenient for golf. Pictures definitely look better than in person and no ac in the rooms. You must leave your balcony doors open all day or the room get super stuffy. We had a first floor room so that's not ideal. Would not return for the price tag.

Only 1 trash can in the room was odd, in the bathroom (asked for another) and no microwave in the room, (they brought one).

Overall we really liked our stay at the Half Moon Bay Lodge. It was clean and service was good. The view out of balcony was awesome. The only complain were the bed and pillow. They were quite old and not the most comfortable. The mattress was not firm and sacks, not great for someone with back issues.

The only redeeming part of the stay was the breakfast, it was okay, nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area—try literally anywhere else.

Absolutely pet friendly! We enjoyed our stay. Upon check-in, we were given a welcome bag for our dog, containing a treat, water bowl, and a toy. The unit was clean and comfortable. We had a patio door that opened into the yard, where we were able to have our little doggie walks. Fridge and complimentary water available in the room. Beds were comfortable. Overall, a pleasant and pleasurable stay. Thank you!

Wall were very thin so you can hear noise from all round including people walking above if you’re on a lower floor. Bathroom was dirty, hair from a previous hotel guest was stuck to the bathroom door, mold on bathroom shower window, towel smelled (not fresh). Continental breakfast was average. Paid way too much for 2 rooms due to a busy weekend. Not worth it.

It was excellent! Staff was friendly and professional. Room was clean and comfortable and the fireplace was a nice touch! 😊

Nice location, quiet, comfortable beds

Overall the stay was decent , however due to a lack of maintenance on the Lodge’s side we were locked out of our room for one hour. Our room was missing a hair dryer which we had to request, and our shower did not have body wash. Which we we had to get ourselves. While waiting to get our room door fixed they did not offer us or let us know about the amenities we could have used in the meantime.

My stay was very comfortable and I was so pleasantly surprised at how friendly and accommodating all the staff were. You know it’s a well run establishment when everyone that works there is kind, attentive and happy.

This hotel has no elevator, so it’s very inconvenient for us staying at second floor with weak knees.

It’s a cute and peaceful place to stay. Breakfast was ok. Our room was a little too warm, but we were able to open the sliding door, so that helped. The shower head had good pressure, but seemed to be aimed too high and could not be adjusted. A little pricey for a motel, maybe, but better ambiance than most motels.

Very nice property that has been well taken care of. There are several amenities on grounds. We only stayed 1 night! I wish we would have stayed longer.

Located on a nice property in half moon bay, property was a little dated but clean and functional. In room fireplace was a nice touch, but added a smokiness to the room. Overall, it was appropriate for the price point in this area. Given we were visiting for two nights for a local wedding and not on-site much, would stay here again.

Room was spacious. It’s an older property but clean. We were on the ground floor so kind of noisy from people above as well as beeping trucks in the middle of the night.

Refrigerator tipped over when opened Cabinets old Screen door to patio had a hole in it and very hard to open This was not a$400 room. The quality overall was very poor and we were very disappointed and will not be back .

Not luxury by any means, but clean, nice place at a relatively affordable price with nice staff. We did not sample the breakfast because we had an early tee time. Nice outdoor area with fire pit, Jacuzzi, pool and a work out room.

It is a bit far into town but with a short drive we could go to a walk along the cliffs, part of the coast trail.

This was a perfect little spot for our vacation in Half Moon Bay. The lodge is located in a quiet part of town and the peace and quiet was needed. The rooms aren’t super renovated but cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed our room with a fireplace that came with a log bag to burn. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoor space that had a fire pit, comfy seats, and a view of the golf course. The property had outdoor games and board games for the whole family. Breakfast had the essentials and was nice to have included in the stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything was good no real issues at all. We were at one end of the property and all the pool and stuff. We’re all at the other end of the property so we got a little exercise while we are doing this which is good.

Sara was terrific and helpful at checkin. Property is located close to a gorgeous coastline area. Beach bikes available to ride and get access to a coastline path. A few good restaurants are a short drive away. This HMB lodge is a motel-type structure so one can park close to a lower level motel room door if mobility is limited. Our room overlooked part of a golf course and houses. Simple breakfast buffet is handy to get day started. Did not use pool or small gym.

actually an hour earlier, contingent on knowing they were working in the plumbing. The water was off an hour. Room was spacious. Upon entry, you could see it’s an old establishment, which has undergone touch ups. Bathroom had a bathtub, which is not particularly, a good idea among the senior crowd. TV was very nice, @ least 55”. Fireplace was functional, wood bag, burned relatively quickly, asked for two bags the next eve. Breakfast area was also spacious, pretty much the same fare as others, although, no fresh fruit, ran out of yogurt the second morning. Room had a Kuerig pods weren’t replace the second day. The pillows were horrendous, so soft, mushy & floppy. Mattress could stand be replaced, it sagged. Nice fire pit out back backed up to a golf course, overall, very quiet. Close to the beach, appx three miles round trip. A very nice paved walkway. Given the higher price tag, we expected better, we expected more, less, was not more. Would look for something newer, or completed renovated next time.

Better than expected, a gorgeous spot and loved everything they had to offer. Conversation cards, board games, free coffee and hot cocoa by the fireplace. When booking I did not see they had a swimming pool- that area was so cute too with an outdoor fireplace and hot tub. The best stay we had on our trip!

This was our second time staying here. Our only complaint about this property is that the sliding glass and screen doors need to be replaced, the restaurants, Joe’s, looks like an old Denny’s, but has phenomenal food. We would stay here again.

While our 2nd floor (no elevator) room was a good size, clean and comfortable, overall the stay was very average for the price. So we were disappointed. The property is average, bathroom small and outdated. A long outside only walk to the breakfast room on a cold morning. Not much around except Joe's restaurant, which was also average diner food at a high price.

The property was lovely, with beautiful trees and a good breakfast. However, we weren’t aware that we needed to ask the staff for fruit, as it wasn’t readily available. Overall, it was a wonderful trip.

The lady at the checkout desk was extremely rude. We didn’t get cleaning service for 3 days of our stay. The bathroom sink was clogged up. The rooms need to be cleaned more and updated. Will not stay here again.

No EV charging on site. Receptionists are pleasant but can't remember anything. Asked for extra towels several times. Never got them. Asked for room cleaning, never got it.

Nice view of the golf course, fresh sea breeze, great breakfast, great service, such a wonderful location. We ll definitely recommend this place and stay here again. We enjoyed the renovation and redesigning of the place. We slept very comfortably. Thank you.

The room was ok. The view outside had a broken fence which detracted from what we could enjoy. The bathroom needed some attention. Dirty caulk, tiles broken, etc. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was standard. South from the main Half Moon Bay areas.

Very nice property

When we showed the front desk staff a video of the ants, their response was shocking—they offered to let us check out two days earlier (we left as fast as we could)!! It seemed like they were more willing to lose customers than to actually address the issues at hand. This gave us the impression that they were fully aware of the problems but chose not to make any effort to resolve them. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The poor cleanliness, lack of customer care, and unhelpful response to our concerns made this stay a complete disappointment. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!

Room was cold. When the heater turned on you could smell the wall paint that was brown from the heater. Tasha were under the ottoman denoting it hasn’t been moved when cleaned since a prior guest.

Continental breakfast, there was no fruit in my 4 nights stay fruit is very important specially at breakfast time.personnel in that particular area very nice.

Always my favorite place to stay in Half Moon Bay…simple luxury with everything you need from a hotel stay and more…a classic property that has stood the test of time!

Power was out for several hours with no notice. Spoke with person @ desk about it and if something could be done as a person spending a whole week there & paying for complete working services………..no support there! Would have been nice for something for the inconvenience.

We enjoy staying here. My family and I go every year. Spacious and clean rooms. Great amenities. They have a nice drink and snack selection at the front desk. They have fireside seating and in close proximity to pubs and restaurants.

The rooms are great and the staff was wonderful.

The location is great. But, for the price per night… interior needs an overhaul.

Everything was good beside the Internet service and the staff was amazing friendly and always willing to help

We had an amazing time. I love sitting under the fireplace and being able to walk right out into the back yard.

The maintenance man was making a lot of loud noise from 9pm-10pm. Very rude. I could even hear him sighing from inside my room

Very quiet place to stay. Well maintained property. Didn’t realize the rooms were motel style opening directly to outside, but felt safe nonetheless.

Love this place nice and quiet the pool the jacussy the best

I especially liked the pool and hottub - very pleasant and despite the website saying they only served "continental breakfast," the meal included eggs, sausage and very good coffee. A shame you can't walk to the beach, but the drive there was less than 5 minutes, and I found plenty of free parking.

Enjoyed that amenities such as the heated pool & hot tub, The room we had was right outside the fire pit area and it was great to sit and relax there, We look forward to our next stay.

The room was spacious and clean. Love the outdoor fireplace area and overall location . It’s close to the coast as well as Half Moon Bay Center.

The family games, big breakfasts included, outdoor activities as well the privacy and fireplaces.

The heater didn’t work in the room,the balcony door was open,and the shower was worse than a water spigot!!!

It was a beautiful room with a great view. In the morning the toilet had leaked, but the hotel had quickly addressed the issue.

Beautiful hotel and friendly staff at check in. Our only gripes is the bed was super soft and dipped to the center and pillows were super flat.

Overall property was good. Door to room had pealing paint. Room was nice. Breakfast was lacking. Watery rehydrated eggs, no fruit. Beautiful area however. Was a nice visit. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Outdated old flooring,you have to pay for a tiny bottle of water.If you are going with kids please take bottles of water handy. If you are going to the beach you will have to take water with you,please plan to buy water ahead of time . I am not coming back here.The pool facilities are outdated too . The front office is very nice and accommodating but this is not my kind of place. I stayed only for one night and I wish I had canceled it. Breakfast was pretty average and the coffee pods were quite boring.

The property overall is beautiful. It has a classic touch with modern beauty. The courtyard, pool and jacuzzi were awesone. Along with the fireplaces. The rooms were spacious. The bathrooms nd slight updating but over all we enjoyed the stay and will return sometime in the future 😊

We loved the hotel, along with the hot tub & the fire pit. The room was clean & roomy.

Quiet, tidy hotel. Outdoor area was great with a fire pit and plenty of seating. Loved the individual balconies with privacy. Overall, great place to stay. Missing star due to dirty shower curtain, no microwave in the room or accessible in common areas, and space access to ice machines.

Cons: Furniture is worn, Breakfast is about as terrible as it gets, pet friendly but SUPRISE, they hit you with a $90 pet fee that is taxable, so $103.68. I typically expect to pay a pet fee, but they keep this a secret, because most should head on down to the next place if they were forewarned. PS Hotel Owners: your guests don't like to be surprised like this.

This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Half Moon Bay. Love the pool and jacuzzi. Staff is always kind and accommodating. Rooms are spacious, and fireplace rooms are nice. Free breakfast is ok. View of golf course area is nice. Restaurant right across the parking lot is good. Usually there is not a lot of people staying there. However this time there was during our 2 night stay..,because of the New Year holiday time I’m sure. Made things a little unpleasant…loud at times. Breakfast room was way too crowded…no seating. Otherwise it was a nice stay. Bed wasn’t super comfortable this time though.

Our stay was overpriced for a motel with a tiny bathroom and basic breakfast buffet (like a Best Western)

Great time

Nice hotel with friendly staff.

Only complaint is the power went out and nothing was offered for the inconvenience. We had to get ready to leave in the dark. Should have a generator for such events.

Nicely kept property, close to the water. The room was very comfortable, but it doesn't have an elevator to the second floor. It would only be a problem if you had a lot of luggage.
