Very Clean, more modern, meager breakfast

The continental breakfast was very basic. And they weren’t fast on restocking anything within the breakfast area. I had to keep asking for more this and more that to an employee before he actually inspected everything to restock. Also, the blinds for the parking lot in our room weren’t blackout blinds so there was a lot of light still in our room when we were going to sleep.

Rooms are clean, staff helpful, parking is tight if you have large cars. Breakfast was basic but good. Enjoyed our complimentary clam chowder at Cameron’s Pub next door. Check out was confusing because of a virtual live stream set up. Very pet friendly hotel.

Welcomed upon arrival and very accommodating. The hotel and connected pub are very charming and clean. Check-out was very different as it was AI generated. It felt a little less charming.

They were cheap on towels, coffee, and they acted they did us a favor requesting room cleaning for the next day. The reason for the 2 stars are staff or lack of staff. They refused to give us a final receipt and did Not email it. Even checked the spam folders. They had a screen with some guy talking and trying to brush us off. It happened the previous day too. I guest was asking for a printed receipt and they refused. Go there for location just don’t have heart set on front desk service.

The property was really clean and modern, making a great first impression. We received a second-floor room, but before settling in, we heard a dog barking downstairs. We kindly asked to switch to a room on the opposite side, and the front desk happily accommodated us. Breakfast was a simple continental style, there were no juices, waffle iron, hot oatmeal, or scrambled eggs. On the bright side, plenty of parking spaces, and there were two E-chargers available on the property, which was very convenient. Unfortunately, both were offline and unavailable.

The room was clean and everything looked new and updated. It was quiet. We got there in time to sleep as we were traveling. Id stay there again..

Clean. Interesting pub next door. Close to town and the beach. On more than on occasion the water went from warm to tepid while running the shower. I have a sensitive back and found the bed too soft. Breakfast was mediocre.

No problems with check in with live person, or check out with the virtual counter person. There was a consistent humming sound in the bathroom (perhaps a vent system? but couldn't turn off) and disturbingly loud above the sink which made hand washing, brushing teeth,

It was quiet & dark. I appreciated the no key locks. • There were no handicapped parking places. • The "so called" free breakfast consisted of manufactured egg rounds, a flat sausage round, assorted breads, 2 types of sugary cereal & yogurt. There was no decaf coffee, the butter was hidden in the small fridge, and the fruit was either overripe or not ripe at all. • The hotel is conveniently located a few miles south of Hghiway 92 on Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay.

The one positive aspect of the stay was the availability of a washing machine, which was convenient. The town and area was pleasant to stay and visit. However, overall the lack of cleanliness and poor customer service made the experience disappointing.

Had to wait 15 minutes for the manager to come inside from the parking lot to check us in. He was outside on his cell phone

no bar soap, no liquid soap in shower, not enough Kleenex, bathroom door heavy and push lock broken, got locked out of bathroom twice, had to leave a shoe on floor to keep bathroom door open, constant water running sound in bathroom, food for breakfast awful, cold coffee, no jam out for toast, butter too hard to use or spread on toast.Room was clean but that was only good thing to say about our stay

Location, dog friendly, comfortable beds! Shower and sinks didn’t drain, wallpaper crumbling off the walls, broken light fixtures, overall dirty (although I’d put the ownership of this on the management, not the cleaning crew - it’s obvious dirty furniture needs to be replaced

This was our second stay at this property. The first time we stayed here it was with our two dogs and its a nice pet friendly hotel. Good location off the beaten track and a very short drive to downtown. Clean, comfortable rooms, good British taven next door!

Love that the hotel is dog friendly and they have a little clean up area. The hotel is very clean, quiet and the staff were friendly. The restaurant/bar right next door has great food and drinks.

The rooms were fairly quiet, mostly clean, and spacious. The water wasn't hot for long in the shower, but it gets the job done. The mini fridge smelled like old salsa, but it also did its job. The staff was wonderful and helpful. Check in was easy. Check out was through a screen but with a helpful person on the other side. We missed out on breakfast, but our friends went... they ended up feeling really sick afterwards. The location is great, nice and quiet. I would be willing to come back.

We booked here because we love the British style of the hotel. Unfortunately, the room and bathroom were not clean. There was hair on the shower wall and lots of hairs in the bed. This was disappointing.

The location was nice. The staff that WAS present was kind. The rooms were clean and the amenities were great. There is an online “front desk employee” that would talk basically through video call. It was an unpleasant experience to use a video call to check out and ask for amenities. There was no front desk person to help out except for my check in. I called the front desk because the remote we had in the room had dead AAA batteries. I attempted to call the front desk and no one answered. I had to go downstairs to talk to the online receptionist and he told me he would send staff right away. They never came.

Didn't eat breakfast. Parking was fine. Garbage left in the room. No bed frame. Box spring directly on the floor. Very small room. Zero view. Room near the 1st floor elevator. Noisy!!!

No cable tv, had to use my own streaming service and logging in was painfully slow

The entire hotel is very well maintained. Breakfast choices were very high quality but no pastries or muffins if that is your preference.

This a brand new hotel and is very nice. One of the only hotels we've stayed in that's inroom coffee is actually good. We asked that the room not be cleaned while we were there, having said that, I did ask on my way out for the day to have more coffee pods and toilet paper brought to our room. That didn't happen. I went to the front desk and asked when we got back to the room. The clerk promply got the items I needed, but alas, the coffee pod didn't fit in the machine. It's a small inconvenience, and overall, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat

Dealing with someone on a screen was not ideal. I also do not like booking hotels through Expedia because I do not believe we got the best price for the 2 day stay.

Clean room, convenient location. The breakfast had changed within the last year. The breakfast sandwiches are not available; it was scrambled eggs and sausage.

Only complaint was the hot water ran out after being in shower for 5 min. It would turn to luke warm. Also the body soap was empty after one use.

Its towards the outskirts of town so it gives a feel like you’re out in nature in the mountains, while still being close to trails to the beach cliffs and the cypress tunnel and a short drive into downtown. My husband was able to take a long run from the hotel room all the way through the tunnel to the Half Moon Bay Trail and back. He loved it so much we plan to come back and try other trails. Our stay was pleasant the entire time. No complaints.

Front desk was notified immediately, she was kind enough to provide us with a new room on the second floor. This new room was just fine. The bed was comfy and the staff provided extra blankets too. The first day's complementary breakfast had very few choices but the second day's breakfast had ample choices. All in all, a decent stay.

Overall good. No manager on staff during the day. A virtual assistant is all you get. We had a small issue with our room and had to track down a housekeeper ourselves to get help.

Clean room, comfy bed, with ac, nice bathroom. Antonio, I think that was his name, was friendly and helpful at the front desk. He was able to check us in early since we got there early. Parking was safe, easy and plenty. Free breakfast was good, there's sausage and eggs (and potatoes, the next day) although they ran out of muffins the next day. Disappointed because they have no jam nor jelly spread, although there's plenty of bread to toast (and lots of butter). And only one toaster with one broken slot, not working. There's cold cereals, apples and small oranges. Good coffee, hot chocolate, apple juice, milk, and berry punch for the kids. The restaurant, bar and shop next door is absolutely wonderful with friendly staff, good food, nice decor, and video machines. My husband was delighted to play his old favorite dig dog (Pacman)!

Breakfast was adequate. Most options were available on Saturday, but by Monday, yogurt and apple juice were no longer offered. Since I do not eat eggs or sausage, I would have preferred that the other options remain consistent. Having water without cucumber flavoring would also have been preferable. We had issues with our bathroom: the toilet handle didn’t work properly, the towel hook was coming loose from the door, the faucet was unsteady and wobbled when used, and the water pressure was low. Since the staff was not readily available at the front desk, it was difficult to report these specific problems. Additionally, because we were only staying two nights, we didn't want to try to change rooms

Hotel looks brand new and clean. Beds were comfortable and the rooms are super cute. Some issues checking in due to malfunctioning equipment so we went and ate dinner first. The restaurant next door is an English pub style which matches the theme of the hotel. Food they're was great.... unlike the hotel breakfast. When i came down there was still over an hour before breakfast hours were over. There was hardly anything there for food, no silverware, no plates, no coffee, and no one around to ask. I was trying to piece meal some food and ended up rooting through cupboards for utensils and restocked their holders for them. Another guest eventually tracked down someone in a back room somewhere and asked them about the food. They did come and refill some things but i think the eggs have never met a chicken. Also the toaster was broken/malfunctioning and all he said was "yeah we know". Also the only person to check out with was a virtual host with a guy coming through a kiosk cause the other guy had disappeared again .. very weird.

We’ve stayed here a few times, it’s close to the ocean, they allow dogs and have a restaurant. They also have a continental breakfast. This last stay was probably the worst continental breakfast that they had provided, but we weren’t hungry. Will definitely stay again

It was okay, the room was nice and clean. The staff was boring and quiet, and the shower sucked. The water was warm, but didn't get hot, and the shower head was way too high.

Clean room, nice breakfast, quiet, and comfy bed. Nice to have a freezer in the room’s fridge (even though it was tiny). Some of the staff seemed less friendly and really didn’t like the virtual front desk thing. The location isn’t ideal, but not terrible.

The location in Half Moon Bay was convenient for a short weekend trip, and the breakfast options were simple but available. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the room were very disappointing. The sink and bathroom area were not properly cleaned, and the bath mat was visibly dirty. Basic amenities were missing or empty, there was no hand soap, and the shampoo and conditioner containers were completely empty. The bed was also uncomfortable (very low, soft, and worn), and there was even a torn section in the bedding. The ice bucket was in poor condition with dirty water inside, and when we requested a replacement, staff asked if we had found it that way, which was surprising. Additionally, the air conditioning did not work, and the room became uncomfortably hot to the point where it was difficult to rest.

Th room was as clean as it should have been. The bathroom floor corners and against the base board you can tell aren’t cleaned on a regular bases. Being both night stands there were pistachio shells. Being one might stand the plug cover was missing. Also the AC would would not turn on with the typical +- of one degree from the set point so kept waking up because we got extremely hot.

Towels were filthy clearly wasnt washed, it had hair, stains and seems like it was put back after its been used. Bedding was not clean and had stains and hair everywhere also

We liked everything in this hotel: the staff, the cleanliness of the room, the british-themed atmosphere. The only ler down was the breakfast. It was definitely not as good as the reviews stated. Not many options and basic items missing: cream cheese, potatoes/hashbrown, decaf coffee.

The room was good, staff was nice though the virtual agent freaked us out a bit. They allowed a free late check out which was SO nice. The beds were cozy, the rooms have keypad entry which was neat, no worrying about misplacing or deactivating the key (which I seem to do a lot). The breakfast included hot foods but we were saving room for fish and chips for lunch so didn't eat on site. Cute decor, room was quiet and a short walk to the water (not the beach however, it's cliffside in the area of this hotel).

Room was very clean and also was surprisingly (and pleasantly) very quiet as the hotel was pretty full and the room was on the first floor close to the side where the tavern is. It was a convenient location. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Cute quiet hotel with spacious rooms and lovely British nautical decor. Relaxing, clean, with full amenities. Breakfast was simple but healthy. Next to English pub with delicious fish and chips and chowder. Near downtown half moon bay.

The room was ready when we arrived at 5pm! We had to wait and weee given the last room on the 1st floor near bathrooms & ice machine! No compensation was given

This is a great place to stay in H.M.B. just outside of the main part of town. This was our second stay and we will be back. Staff is friendly and attentive, rooms are clean with great lighting and a cute British charm. Would highly recomend considering the price point even for a king sweet.

The room was nice! Good bed, location, and decor. The breakfast was very basic (reheated sausage patties and microwave eggs). We asked for our room to be serviced each day, but they only did 1/4. That part was disappointing. Overall, good value for the area, though.

This is my second stay at the Aristocrat Hotel in Half Moon Bay, and it continues to be a cozy, spotless, and comfortable place to stay when visiting the area. The staff is consistently excellent and friendly, and there is always plenty of on-site parking. The attached restaurant next door is very convenient, and there are lots of great dining options just a short drive away.

Everything was excellent! The bed was super comfy with soft pillows and a cozy blanket. Loved the coffee machine with capsules, and it was great to have a hair dryer and iron available. Free and easy parking was a big plus. I really enjoyed my stay!

Luckily there was a human to check me in instead of me having to use that terribly inconvenient human assistant kiosk that has never been able to fulfill my needs.

Clean room, comfy bed, tv had all of the streaming services, good pillows! It’s a beautiful place with awesome staff. Very safe and tidy. My only complaint is that the breakfast service ran out of creamer for the coffee and that was a big disappointment. So we went next door to the pub and had coffee there.

Very nice hotel near everything. Check in was quick and easy. Room was clean and spacious. Friendly clerks and breakfast was a nice start to the morning. Traveling down the coast, but would return again.

The lobby and room were so stylish and clean. Room was a great size. The only thing to keep in mind is that the internet is very spotty and you need it to get your room code and to run the TV. We tried to watch a movie in the room and it froze so much it was pretty hard to watch anything. So bring a book or board game to be entertained.

I didn't like making arrangements at kiosk at front desk. I like working with non-virtual front desk staff.

Close to Camerons Pub, breakfast selection is excellent, very noisy at night, no privacy in bathroom, wifi is very slow and intermittent, tv is also wifi and is constantly reloading, unable to watch any shows without interruption.

We heard neighbors doors opening and closing all night. It sounded like someone was trying to get into our room.

The gentleman who checked me in was very kind and informative. We had to downgrade our room to availability, but we were completely ok and understood. We had 2 small dogs with us and he told me about all the extras for our furry babies. We definitely plan on staying longer next time with our daughter, and have already shared with family and friends what a great hotel this is.

Clean and spacious rooms. So nice to be able to walk to the ocean trail and Poplar Beach and along the bike path into town. Very kid and dog friendly. The whole family enjoyed our stay.

We paid for two nights and only stayed one night. Our refund request for the un used night was denied. I would never go back and never recommend this property.

Over all a good hotel, they are really pet friendly, they gave me a room next to the exit door which made it convenient for me to take my dogs out and there is also a pet relief area that is designated.

Breakfast is fair. Room and bed were good. Shower curtain rod was very rusty. You need a master's degree to work the television and the internet would go out for a few minutes every hour or so.

We’ve stayed here multiple times. This time was far different than others. The front desk is almost always closed as there are no in-person front desk employees and everything is virtual via a giant iPad. It’s next to an RV park and all rooms face the park (no view). Their breakfast was the absolute bare minimum and everything was limited. The cleaning staff is wonderful and kind. It took us 30 mins to check out because of a connection issue. We finally tracked down housekeeping and it took 3 employees to stop what they were doing and use their personal phones to contact the virtual employees. It was such an unnecessary hassle and we will most likely not return to the property.

The property was in a convenient location with good parking. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was good. The room had a slight smell and the shower temp was a little challenging. It would be amazing if they could install a soft close hinge on the room doors. The slamming doors, beginning at 6am, were pretty awful. Slam after slam after slam. Staff was very friendly. Felt a little over priced.

We spent 2 night at this hotels, the room was nice and comfortable, we had dinner at Cameron's next to the hotel. Overall good experience. Would Recommend for a few nights in Half Moon Bay.

We were only there one night, but it was a great room, clean and quiet, and updated. The bathroom was spacious and clean. We were only given bath towels, no wash cloths or hand towels, but that was probably an oversight. The bed was ok, the mattress was a bit soft, but not terrible. The breakfast was ok, but not a lot of options, and definitely no options for people with gluten and dairy restrictions.

The not so great - the kiosk attendant for check in/check out. We arrived early and asked to check in, the kiosk attendant told us there weren’t any rooms available until 3pm. They were able to take our bags, an actual person was called and he put our bags in the office. As we passed by the kiosk again, I over heard the attendant say, sure you can check in early, let me get you a room. What? I asked the girlfriend of the guy checking and and they did not have a pre-arranged early check in. Not sure why I couldn’t get my room 3 minutes earlier? I find it annoying to talk to a machine and not someone in person. There was a “live” person behind the check in desk after 3pm but had to deal with the kiosk again to check out.

Noisy room, small kids running up and down hallway into the night. Overpriced with the view being into the RV camp just outside the window. Over $450 for the night and open the blinds in the morning with a lovely view of a guy scratching his stuff... what's with that?? Upon leaving other guests in the elevator were complaining about the kids, too! Not coming back here! Disappointed.

The hotel appeared clean as we made our way to the room, but I noticed that the elevator was off balance and made strange noises, suggesting it needed maintenance. When we reached our room, we were surprised to find it located behind a trailer park, which we hadn't anticipated—our oversight for not researching the area before booking. The room itself was tidy, but there was some black mold starting to form in the shower. Additionally, we were provided with only two towels for our stay, and the air conditioning unit was quite loud. The bathroom door also made a frustrating noise, and we could hear rowdy guests in the hallway. Breakfast was average at best, which is what I expected. The bar and restaurant next to the hotel felt outdated and unusual; if you enjoy that kind of atmosphere, it might be acceptable. However, the food was mediocre and overpriced. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel due to its location and the experience we had. It claims to

Staff was minimal - I checked in to a TV screen and there was never anyone at the front desk when I needed help. And the TV reception was all apps and very spotty, so I gave up trying to watch anything to relax. I understand trying to be high-tech and efficient, but at what cost to customer service???

Great stay with a great pub next door

Loved how clean it was and how comfortable the bed was my husband and were traveling back to canada and comfort and cleanliness is top of the list especially with me being 3 months pregnant.

Beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable. Convenience location to all the area has to offer. There is a little cute restaurant next to the hotel.

It feels like a new hotel with an anglophile theme to complement the crazy British pub next door. A good night sleep and kind reception staff.

Stayed 1 night on business was very cozy

Over all nice hotel, we were in a room next to the pub and you could hear the karaoke. Which was too loud. Pet fee is way too high and should be refundable at the end of the stay. Or somewhere in the information.

This property was perfect for us!

Overall, very nice stay: Clean room, comfortable bed, good location, generally quiet. Check-in and out was very strange: Done via Zoom. Upon arrival, seemingly between normal business hours, check-in is on the kiosk with an agent located in Bogota, as we were later told. Check-out was the same. Doors are electronic keypad, with a code given at the kiosk.

Great inexpensive dog friendly place near Half Moon Bay, next door to a pub with good fish and chips, very near a dog park and walking on the bluffs. Simple on the outside, nice really clean interior. We’ve stayed here twice.

Didn't like the virtual check in

Lovely hotel we chose to stay for a very quick overnight. The check in was very long, maybe 20 minutes with no one else around. The front desk kept saying there was problems with the system which is fine, but then our key card punch in did not work until the fourth try. Beyond the understandable technology issues the attendant seemed a little unfriendly. The television did not work for our room, which we tried to have fixed but the attendant started trying to move furniture and then left with our remote after we turned away the efforts. The next morning there was no attendant, but a kiosk check in with a screen, and the only hotel person available did not speak English so we still could not get our television to work. The amenities here were great, but the personal service was lacking. Sad for a small town…

Pub next door was great

Our first time staying here in Half Moon Bay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, newly decorated and quiet. Can’t wait to go back again.

Everything would have been perfect except for the online check-in. There were three groups of us checking in and all we could say was that it felt really weird to go through check-in on a screen with someone in Colombia. Why? Can’t the hotel afford a real person who can check in guests? The guy was nice enough but it didn’t feel like a personal welcome to the hotel at all. It felt fake, a little less secure, and surreal. I won’t go back to this hotel.

This property was very nice and it was very clean. We were greeted by the service desk lady I believe her name was Elena was extremely nice pleasant and so thoughtful. We told her we were there for a weekend getaway and asked if we had plans and if she could recommend any restaurants and we told her we have reservations and she agreed that that was a good place and gave us more options if we ever decide to come back. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Very cool London inspired property

Half moon bay is so dreamy. We love being that close to the coast.

The nicest staff, great hotel right in the perfect spot.

This place was super cute and had lots of fun decor and things. My partner and I stayed here for valentines weekend and it did not disappoint!! Rooms are super spacious and the staff are really friendly.

I made a mistake on my booking dates and they went out of their way to accommodate and help me fix it. Great service!

Smooth check-in process with a virtual receptionist. The location was great and quiet. We stayed in a room on the first floor which had very high ceilings which was quite nice. Our room was mostly spotless, but we saw a couple of ants near the coffee machine. The continental breakfast was nice- the breakfast sandwiches were not great but they provided Chobani yogurt which I love.

I did not like the computer sign in !! I perfer a live person.

They are using a video front desk system that is bizarre. Checkout was awkward video chat. You are asked to rate this system at the end but I’m not going to give it a poor rating as this will probably go against the employee on the other end rather than the system itself. This same system is used by the employees to interact with I assume a manager offsite. Eating breakfast we get to hear about the inner workings of the hotel as the employees are required to interact with this screen in the lobby.

Disliked seeing dogs at breakfast and restocking breakfast was not importance when it was still early enough, time is 6:30-9:30, 7:30-8 most items gone and not refilled.
