Room pulled in a lot of road noise but construction out front probably contributed. One issue in our room- shower water very hot and valve would not adjust it. Property was clean in public areas and our room. Good location for us. Would recommend based on expectation for cost. Ton of dining options in area too

The staff has been extremely helpful and the location is good with adequate parking. Though the general cleanliness has been very good, some extra attention to bathtub cleanliness is essential. Breakfast is also just fine, especially for a vegitarian.

What I didn't like, my room smelled like mold. And my room was close to the exercise room, and a clueless person went to exercise Sunday before 7 a.m., with a high-volume TV and sang, I think the hotel could put up a warning so that people like that wouldn't make noises.

Hotel was ok-room was dirty but bedding was clean. Staff was fine but didn’t share any information on breakfast or WiFi and they at check in also said my room number and directions loudly for other guests to hear.

We are keep staying in this hotel all the time on our road trips because price is reasonable to rest and spend a night, pretty good rooms and service. Hotel location is very good. Huge shopping mall and a lot of food places.

Very friendly staff. Property could use an update. Hallways kinda stunk and smelled musty. Breakfast buffet wasn’t bad and the staff working it was very friendly. For one night, it was good. There was no elevator so that is something to keep in mind if you can’t do stairs. For the price, I think you could find something updated and fresh but it was clean and safe.

we only stayed one night. the staff was helpful, very pleasant, . the only issue was the toilet did not work weell opart of the time but sstaff was helpful.

We were greeted by a very friendly employee who checked us in. We didn't get to make any requests since we were told that every room was taken since there was a firefighters organization staying at the hotel. The room was small but was comfortable enough for one night. You could tell that this hotel had been another hotel and seemed rather old. We had a nice breakfast and the beds were comfortable.

Great room on the 2nd floor, but NO elevator on property. Stairwells are at the end of each floor in the corners of the building. The room itself was great. The bathroom was configured strangely. The shower was a little cramped but the shower head water speeds and water pressure were awesome.

This was my 6th stay at this property and this time I stayed for five nights. It is a clean, basic and comfortable. The staff has always been helpful but the person managing the breakfast on Tuesday was not. He was on his phone the entire time we were there. There were no biscuits and after determing he wasnt going to hang up his call, I just stuck my head in the door and said we needed more biscuits. After eating I went back to get a banana but they were also gone so again I interrupted his call and asked for bananas. He brought them then went back into the kitchen, slamming the door behind him, probably so I didn't disturb his call again. He had also let the coffee run out so I asked the receptionist and she quickly and politely went and got more. All other days were great and he wasnt on duty the other mornings. And it was kept stocked.

I killed a giant ant on the wall. The garbage can in the bathroom was so dirty and a plastic bag was put in it anyway. For a non smoking hotel, the hallway smelled of cigarettes smoke covered by a bubble gum smelling spray of some sort. I had not experience anything like that in my past times at that hotel. We use it 2 or 3 times a year. I would look for another accomodation next time.

The only good things about this hotel was the woman at the check in desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the man who worked that area was helpful. There are many cons to this hotel. The bed was hard, shower head was very short (it only came to my chin), no coffee maker in the room, walls are paper thin (I could hear the guest in the next rooms phone ding and his phone conversations), high way traffic and trains. Then I reserved a king size room and they gave me a room with two double beds. The manager wouldn’t come out to speak to me about it or the difference in room prices. There is no elevator in the hotel and the room keys didn’t work for the room so the front desk representative had to let you into your room. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The hotel was a little outdated. There was a problem with their key cards, which meant we couldn't get into our rooms without one of the representatives letting us in. The breakfast was good and well-stocked. The staff was very nice and helpful.

The room and decor are very dated (including those horrible florescent bulbs that emit the worst share of light possible), but the room was clean, the beds were super comfy, and the water pressure was great. Also, during the whole weekend the keycard system was done, so we could only get in via a staff member opening our room for us. This was very inconvenient, and it led to people propping open outside doors since you couldn't open them with a keycard, which felt unsafe.

Excellent place to stay for a night . Easy access off of RT 81, clean, and nice welcoming staff. Only thing is hotel doesn’t not have elevators so if you have an issue walking stairs may not be a good option.

Check-in was a little long. New hire was extremely sweet and gracious and apologetic when she didn’t know how to check us in. Her 2 co-workers were not very attentive. Key card wasn’t working which took even longer. Probably since it’s right off the highway, parking lot was LINED with trucks overnight. Returning late, had to park farther than we’d like. Appreciated the size of room and couch. Would not stay here again or recommend. Too many other better options.

Only complaint is the heat/ac unit in room was very dusty. It appeared old & in need of a good cleaning or replacement.

Upon entering, the room smelled musty. The room sounded like it was not sound-proofed, you could hear people all throughout the night. The worst part however was the bathroom. It smelled like urine and it wasn't until I used the shower that I figured out why. The shower curtain was cloth and was too long for the tub so bunched up in the tub and got wet - the urine smell was from the shower curtain!

We rented 2 rooms last night. Room 145 had no heat and the in room phone didnt work. Room 146 had a flea? Squished into the bathroom towels, dirty mirror and little black hairs around the bathroom. My daughter also discovered part of a candy cane in her bed this morning. The staff were horrified and left a message for the manager

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and no one cleaned our room even once. We went to ask why they weren't cleaning or changing the bed linens, and they said they were short-staffed. They only gave us towels and that was it.

Staff were very friendly and helpful when checking in. The room was fine overall and the location served my purposes. The workout area was very small and shoved over in the far corner of the hotel. Very much felt like an afterthought. I know fitness centers are not most people's top priority, but it's nice if they put some effort into them. But the breakfast buffet was good and the staff that I did interact with were all very friendly and helpful! Would definitely go back!

The reviews on hotels . com seem skewed more positively than this hotel deserves, this was not a “excellent” stay. Staff were perfectly courteous. The front canopy was not lit up when arrived after dark. The room was adequate, clean but in need of cosmetic upgrades to not feel grungy. One end table had dried glittery nail polish split on it. The bed was hard and had microfiber sheets which are hot to sleep under. There were bulbs burnt out in the bathroom. It was easy to hear noise from the hallway and we were placed near a stairwell door that banged. Would not chose this hotel again as it appears to be on the decline.

The shower is a wind tunnel. Its a hurricane that sprays mist all over the shower. The floor, sink, towels everything wet. Need a fan or something. Cant stay in the shower for more than 2-3 min.

The room was fine for the price, but the sheets didn't seem very clean. One bed definitely had dirt and hair in it, switched to another room that was the same but a little less hair so I gave in. Honestly I'd probably stay there again if the price is right

We stayed for three nights while we visited Shanendoah and Luray. The breakfast was good, quite a few options. The bed was comfortable. It wasn't as quiet as I would have liked - too many doors closing nearby (maybe they need soft close hinges!) but for someone who often struggles with sleep it wasn't horrible. My husband had no issues with the noise so I know it was partially me. The carpets could use a shampooing and you could see the age of the building here and there. All in all it was worth the price.

Two college age girls came in behind us with two huge suitcases, They were also ‘surprised’ that there was no elevator and not happy! The rooms costs $$$$ per night!! I expect an elevator!! Plus a ‘resort fee of $$$was also charged!! Ridiculous!! I am requesting a full credit back of these room charges including the resort fee! The app clearly listed the hotel was ‘ADA’.. false advertising in my opinion! What IF there had not been a room on the first floor for us… we would have been stuck with no room at all!! Very disappointed with the Clarion! Put in an elevator OR list that important FACT on the app!!! Refund my charges please immediately

Room was very clean, but it had a very strong, chemical odor, probably the disinfectant they use. I could not open the window, but I turned the fan on and that helped a bit.

Two full beds were a bit inconvenient for us. Shower was tricky to use, especially heat vs cold water selection.

This was by far the cleanest pet friendly hotel I have ever been in. Very clean. Just would like to see a pet waste can close by so I could dispose of my pet waste bag!

The staff was great and the room was clean. With that said, there was a moisture smell in the rooms that made reminded me of mold. Everything seemed well cared for, but you could tell the hotel was old.

Stayed for 1 night. Breakfast was good with good variety. Elevator was out while we were there so we had to use the stairs. Overall a pretty average property.

I have stayed here several times with my dogs over the past couple of years. This hotel is clean, efficient and pet friendly which is the most important thing to me. I plan on staying here many more times in the future.

The room had a thick musty smell in it. I asked the front desk if they could move us they told me they were booked. I asked if they could give me an air purifier or dehumidifier to deal with the smell. They offered a can of Lysol. I went and got an air purifier and some air fresheners to make the room livable.

We asked for a room with a roll away. I called directly to the hotel and they said they had one. When we arrived they did not have such a room. I'd like to request a refund.

The breakfast left a lot to be desired, though. Both mornings we had to ask the staff to replenish several of the food items. They should have been watching the food to refill as needed. As a personal comment, I prefer real oatmeal instead of the packaged stuff that is not nearly as healthy. So, I was disappointed that it wasn't offered. I also thought the area wasn't as clean as it should have been... with a lot of people eating and serving themselves, the counter tops and tables should have been regularly wiped down. We had to clean our own table off before sitting down to eat.

I would have preferred to have a small coffee maker in the room. I found it hard to find the correct turn due to construction and an oddball traffic pattern.

The staff at as friendly. We stayed in 3 separate rooms. One room smelled musty. One room was ok overall. In our room, the bathroom was not well cleaned or kept. There was pee on the toilet seat and mold in several places on the wall. The breakfast was the normal continental breakfast.

The front desk staffer was friendly and efficient but the room stank of mold. There were bugs in the dining area. The hotel is badly in need of renovation. The tub/shower in our room and the microwave were clearly not updated in decades - when was the last time you saw a microwave with dials?

Overall good experience. Staff a was friendly and check-in was easy. The room did have a weird smell and the bathrooms could use an update. They do a nice job in the morning with breakfast. It’s also located right next door to Tropical Smoothie.

Staff were very friendly from the front desk to the housekeepers. Free parking. That’s the positive. The hotel is old and dated. Our room smelled like mold and the bathroom smelled like a different variety of mold. Bathrooms could have been cleaner - hair from prior guests was on the sink, in the tub, etc. It was noisy - you hear all the doors closing up and down the hall and creaking noises if anyone above us walked in their room. People talking next door sounded like they were in our room. There was a big cricket in our bathroom and the curtain on the first floor was either a blackout curtain or open - no sheer option. If I paid $60 for the night, I would expect it. Paying $400 a night for JMU parent weekend was ridiculous. But I guess that’s just the way it is. We won’t be back.

Place was good for a quick nights stay.

Stayed here twice within a week. Both stays were great. I had the same woman at the reception desk both times. She was very nice, welcoming, and the process was quick. Same room both times. No issues. Very clean, plenty of hot water. Was traveling on a motorcycle and was permitted to park the bike under the overhang. That assured a dry bike for my morning ride to SC. I will stay here again.

It was clean and very quiet. Covenient to National Park and highway access. Affordable for quick night's sleep and early breakfast for next hiking adventure. Stale odor in room was a trend in three different hotels we stayed at.

Everything was Great

There is construction around the area, so difficult to drive thru area. Interstate traffic going by-noisy and the night we stayed a bunch of young people stayed there and it was noisy most of night. Not the cleanest of places we've stayed and not sure we would stay again.

Breakfast was poorly stocked and we had to ask them to stock almost everything we went to eat (eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, and even coffee). We didn’t go down at the very end, but you could hear them loudly talking at length until some asked for something before and after us. We understand it’s free and not a restaurant, but don’t offer something you aren’t going to provide.

So clean and great breakfast, especially for the price. Christian at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, we wanted a room specifically facing the parking lot so we could see our U Haul and he accommodated us. 10/10!

Reserved because it had really good reviews and a great price. The carpets in the hallway were dirty so I was a little concerned. But upon opening our room it was clean updated and really nice with comfortable bed. Only down side was no elevator and us being older was glad we didn’t have big luggage and a lot of stuff!

Staff was super kind and friendly. A nice young man in the kitchen got us fresh coffee immediately after hearing it was no longer hot. Front desk was great. Only issue was beds were kinda hard and pillows needed to be replaced (flat). Room and bathroom very clean and updated.

We’ve stayed here before. Christian, the clerk at the desk, has always been very courteous and friendly. Only complaint is we dropped some liquid on the floor in our room and cleaned it up. The floor was filthy. Need to work on that!

Great place, reasonable price

First room I was given was unsuitable. They changed my room to a cleaner room. But still a couple issues. It had been a long day. I did not want to change again. I reported the issues the next morning at the front desk.

Clean, safe, great parking, convenient, good service, frig and microwave in room, snacks available, room service available, easy to order out, wonderful breakfast.

Convenient location for me, near I-81 with many food options nearby. Breakfast on-site and Spacious rooms very much appreciated! Staff member was excellent, super-efficient and thoughtful - just what we needed after a12-hour day on the road.

Staff was friendly. Appreciated the fact that it was pet friendly and place was super clean.

This hotel offered GREAT VALUE for the price. The room was clean and comfortable. The desk staff were effective and efficient. The “free” buffet breakfast was delicious with a variety of hot and cold breakfast foods and beverages.

One of the women at the front desk looked at me cross-eyed when I asked for some extra bath towels and seemed annoyed that I was bothering her from just sitting in the chair. Immediately cancelled a future reservation at this place. Never again.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful; the property is maintained well and inside was very clean. I was not a fan of the beds - they were full sized, so smaller than a queen and not comfortable. The rooms smelled damp from the air conditioner. The reason I gave this a 1 star review is the plumbing. Our toilet overflowed when my young adult flushed it. We notified the staff and they were kind and moved us right away to a new room. The same issue happened in the new room (different person). We gave up moving rooms as the way the toilet was running seemed like a larger plumbing issue across the property. The second room also smelled very musty / damp likely because of the air conditioner. I didn't see the value of this hotel / room in comparison to the price. I'd rather stay outside of Harrisonburg next time I visit JMU.

Reasonable price, easy access.

For the most part the room as well as the bathroom was very clean. However, the room smells of mildew as soon as you enter. Our room was on the first floor, and ALL THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT you hear doors open and close. As well, on our floor was a family with children and they were running through the hallway last at night and early in the morning

I have a pet friendly room, my room smelled like a wet dog. I was told there wasn’t any rooms available. My son I was wheezing due to mold and mildew smell. DO NOT STAY HERE

Spotless facility, nice breakfast spread, quiet ac and a comfortable bed.

Overall a good hotel. A bit outdated. Room was musty upon entry but turned in the AC which helped the smell.

We got in late, 130am, and we were woken up twice in the morning. The first time was the alarm clock going off from whoever stayed in the room previously. The second was housekeeping knocking on our door at 9am to see if we were still in there. Not cool! Then 10 mins later the room phone rang. Not sure why they disturb their guests, but I won't be going back.

Enjoying the stay very much. Only problem, was never able to connect any of our devices to the WiFi.

The hotel is in a location close to every single chain dining option you could want. It is also only one mile away from JMU. The hotel was clean and breakfast was perfect for our young kids. The bathrooms are small and so were the beds! The beds were supposed to be queen sized beds, but they were more like small full sized beds.

We dealt with the same person behind the front desk the whole weekend (it’s like he didn’t go home lol). He was great and very friendly, he had no problem helping us or answering all of our questions. The room was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. The gym was nice but had a foul odor (more than just the sweaty gym smell). The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast. The hotel was in a great area - close to the interstate with lots of places to eat nearby.

Lacked an elevator for the second floor access...not a problem unless you have a senior citizen with knee problems

Filthy smoke-ridden hotel. Had to move hotels less than 2 hours. Can't get my money back from hotels.com or the hotel directly. They are saying I stayed when I did not. They also said I never addressed it with the front desk which I did. I sat there an watched the kid speak with hotels.com infront of me.

Although I know I am plus size, I wasn't expecting the shower/bathtub to be so tiny. I was offered an room on the 1st floor, which I appreciated due to there being no elevator, but when I tried to get the the shower, I almost fell due to how narrow the shower was

Cons: breakfast was just ok. Not many selections and we had to ask kitchen staff to refill many of the items.

Everything and everyone was great except for the beds and pillows, we're stiff and in a lot of pain
