Courtyard by Marriott Baltimore Hunt Valley

The staff was wonderful but so overburdened. The Marriott CEO’s aim to cut corners is woefully apparent and made the stay more challenging because they were so understaffed. Truly, the personnel were kind and accommodating, especially those at the front desk. They were literally checking people in, answering phones, making coffee, and taking bar orders simultaneously and somehow with a smile! Unfortunately the financial decisions of higher ups have reflected negatively on the entire Marriott experience. For example, our phone did not work nor did our other family members’- that is not the responsibility of one staff member at any given time. The pull out bed was a JOKE- sure, something pulled out but it was hard as a rock and covered in a weird leatherette material that had us sliding around like we had rubber sheets. Part of a larger issue of everything really feeling cheap. Really strange layout to the hotel as well. Please take better care of this wonderful staff!

I was disappointed with the hotel. It looked like it had seen better days. The halls had old food odors, the parking lot did not have lines to see where to park and I didn't realize I was being charged $5 to park there. It also costs extra to get breakfast and they have bottled water for sale in the rooms for $7 a bottle. It really felt like I was being nickeled and dimed. Last time I stayed in the area, I went to Embassy Suites and that was a much better experience than this.

Also, they do serve breakfast but it is not free. That was my oversite but it was disappointing to find out when I got there. Especially if you don't want to drink the coffee in the room, the cheapest cup in the cafe was $3.

The first room we were assigned had a strong musty, dirty smell. We were moved to a second room, which was better, but the AC compressor was unbelievably loud — it sounded like an airplane taking off. On top of that, every night the parking lot was crowded with pickup trucks, and there were groups of people drinking and partying late into the evening. To make matters worse, on the last day of our stay, there was no hot water. Overall, the experience felt more like staying at a two-star motel than at a Marriott property.

My only complaint was I was charged for parking in a standard parking lot. It was their lot and they still charged $15 for 3 days. I could understand if it was a big city and parking was a premium but it was not.

I was charged a daily $5 parking fee! For my stay that totaled $20. The hotel is not located in an urban area where parking is tight. I thought this was nickel and diming the customer. Tacky and not treating people like guests.

I ask if they had a shower chair They had to check The next day they found one . Mark, the hotel maintenance man got us one, he was very kind and helpful. Did not think paying for parking was necessary. Was told Marriott just started doing that Room cleaning every other day Not that impressed 😕

If you're looking for a place to rest your head for the night, I recommend this hotel. For extended stay keep in mind not many amenities. Parking is not free, no free breakfast, bottled water in the room costs $7 each, and housekeeping comes in every other day to clean and bring fresh towels. Hotel could use a fresh coat of paint on the outside.

Information on website said breakfast started at 6:30. Headed to front at 6:45 no one or no breakfast to be found. Also wanted to charge $8.00 for a spring water in the room.

The front desk staff was super friendly and I like that it’s tucked away and quiet. Room was very clean and appreciated the complimentary Life Water.

Breakfast is available but not included. We did not eat here.

The Courtyard by Marriott Baltimore Hunt Valley is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located near everything in the Hunt Valley area. The staff is very friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and they accommodated every request I made. While the hotel is a bit dated, it’s well-maintained and a reliable choice for a stay in the area.

Everything was great! From the time I checked in until the I left. The staff was wonderful. It was good to just get away for a little bit.

My bed was quite uncomfortable, resulting in poor sleep during my stay. I felt that the hotel lacked many amenities, including concierge services and other essentials. Please read comments above

I liked the property. I liked that we had a suite. It was spacious for a family of 4. The beds were awful. The 2 double beds were too soft. Mattresses need replacing now. Also the pullout bed is too hard. Needs some type of mattress.

This will be a property that I will continue to stay in. It’s safe, clean and quiet. My only complaint is that there is a charge for breakfast. This seems absurd.

Staff was so nice

Hotel staff were surprisingly unfriendly towards me and my young child. We were experiencing a family emergency and weren’t expecting to be treated like bums. I think there should be a greater value placed on emotional intelligence when an employee is dealing with the general public.

Overall stay was nice! The shower wasn’t working properly and the sliding door was very difficult to open and close.

All were friendly and helpful. Premises are attractive, the room was v clean and the bed was comfortable. Check out staff assured me and entered it in her list of tasks that the bathroom sink drained v slowly. Breakfast was rather pricy but good quality and the bartender in the evening was v helpful. Nearby restaurants made it easy to get dinner. Only that sink - and that was relatively minor

This property is close to my office. We live a far distance from our office so when we work late or have a function at work and dont want that 1.5 ride home we stay here.. we never have a complaint..Everything is clean and quiet

Check was impersonal. Would have preferred a handicap room. Not given a choice after asking. Tv in room didn’t work and had to change rooms without help very far from handicap parking! Doubt if I’ll ever return!

Stayed at this property for a long weekend visit during Independence Day holiday. Hotel is in a great location in suburban Baltimore near lots of restaurants and shops. Plan to stay again next time I'm in the area.

This was the second time I've stayed at this hotel and both stays have been great. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Very highly recommended.

There was a dirty sock on the floor but other than that everything was perfect. We would definitely come back.

They only clean room once every other day. Also, they don’t even tidy up the closet. I reported that shower head doesn’t work properly, they said they willl fix but never did the fix

The TV buffering or Wi-Fi was extremely slow. The Fridge was whining loudly such that my wife couldn’t sleep. I asked for extra pillows but no joy. Outside, the facia was deeply cracked with rust streaming down the side of the building. The HVAC never worked properly.

I really enjoyed the shower in the bathroom, good hot water pressure. The staff was very friendly and welcoming upon my check-in. I did not care for the pillows on the bed exactly. They felt too marshmallowy soft and felt deflated as I rested. The bed itself was comfy enough. Overall, I would stay again.

Matthew at the front desk went above and beyond for our guest experience. I was in town for a funeral, and he made my entire family very comfortable and was so friendly and helpful every day of our stay. He remembered all of our first names and took his time to ask how we were doing. It made such a difference, and I really appreciate his hospitality and customer service. I will definitely be returning to the courtyard by Marriott in Hunt Valley. Thank you again, Matthew for making our stay. Excellent during a difficult time.

The room was very nice and clean. They had a beautiful bathroom and a convenient sleeper sofa and a little frig to store your drinks. The bed was very comfortable as well. The only thing missing was a microwave.

Very upset that the hotel desk clerk could not refund any of our room due to the horrible experience we had. We arrived to the room after a long day of travel & wanted to shower. When one of us got in the shower and found water filling the shower floor…could NOT finish the shower bc the drain was clogged. Called front desk & housekeeping came but it ended up they offered to move us to another room that smelled like smoke. After lots of back & forth with front desk my husband ended up fixing the clog which was a disgusting mess. Not happy the hotel said they can’t refund us for room bc we booked through a third party. We will know next time to book directly with hotel & not use other links. Very bummed over poor experience.

room was very clean ...stayed 2 nites..on second day left for the day and came back to find room was not touched...no clean towels or coffee...called front desk and was told housekeeping only comes in every other day ...if you need something just ask...did not know this ..had I known I would have asked housekeeping who were right outside my door when I left for the day..and while the staff were very pleasant and happy to give me towels and coffee I could but wonder if we are not getting a service why are we not given a discount???

would be nice if they had more than 1 full-sized luggage cart though. also, can we get microwaves in the rooms?! nobody wants to have to go back down to the lobby to reheat leftovers.

Cons: the walls are thin, so if you’re a light sleeper request a room away from the ice machine, elevator, and courtyard. The shower floor has no grip when using soap and conditioner so be careful or lay a towel down to give yourself some grip. There was a smoker in a room near me and somehow the smell got to my room at 12:30am and it was so unbelievably disgusting to deal with because it was hard to sleep and breathe with the smell and my patio door didn’t work so I couldn’t let the smell out. Not sure if that was the person or the HVAC. Meh: I had a regular room. My shower was really small. If you’re over 5’6” or need extra elbow room ask for a shower that has a curtain instead of the sliding door. Also, if you have the sliding door, put towels down around the shower because water easily gets out of the shower and makes for a slippery floor. Overall, I’d stay here again but I’d ask for a room different than where I was.

House keeping did not come as promised

My wife and I are disabled. Staff at the front desk were very helpful getting our wheelchair out of vehicle. Also helpful with oxygen machine. Handicapped bathroom was very good. Wish a microwave was available in our room.

I would stay here again. Nothing overly special about the place. Just a solid hotel and room for my stay. They were doing a lot of renovations while I was there, but that didn’t disturb my stay
