The property itself is very lovely and rich with history. It was peaceful to walk around and observe the beautiful oak trees. My room however had carpet with stains everywhere. I was surprised for the cost of the room that the carpet looked really dirty.

Brilliant location right in historic district because hotel is pretty much the historic anchor (former exclusive millionaires club built at end of 19th century). Check in staff truly display Southern charm— gracious, efficient, and warmly welcoming. Valet not so much —leaned on desk and just looked at us; no smile, no greeting. Honestly wondered if we’d blundered and he was a guest we’d mistaken as part of hotel staff. Valet or not, we would definitely stay again because it’s such an amazing value for money. Almost same rate as 3 star hotels and motels on island, but you get an enormous room with large windows, 14 foot ceilings and you are 1-5 minute walk from 90% of the historic sites.

Cool historic place but for the price would’ve rather just visited. Super small rooms, one bar with five seats, no real on site dining for dinner, and man they better fix that water pressure as you’ll get more wet sweating than standing under that. Prob my last time visiting but cool place

We were given a king upgrade which was very nice of the staff person. When we arrived in our room the shower was non functional the AC needed a new battery, the tv was no where near anyplace to watch it. The ice machine was also broken and an inconveniece. We called the evening of our first night and the next day everything but the TV was fixed. No one called us during our three night stay to make sure everything was ok. The property is unique, but it is tired. It was fine, but not great. Not we anticipated.

The staff was friendly and the room seemed reasonably clean, although the carpet in the room was stained and it was incredibly cramped in there. Why was I put in what is obviously the worst room in the hotel? I am a regular customer, but if I get put in such a miserable room again, I won’t stay there anymore. Also there was no microwave to heat water for my tea and the little pod coffee machine was so old and filthy it gave my tea a horrible undrinkable taste. A bad experience at a place that usually brings me joy. Jekyll Island Club can do much better, but not this time. Were they punishing me for booking through Expedia? Regardless, I highly recommend refusing Room 2409. It is not worth it. Ruined my trip.

Room not what was advertised and expected. Clean and tastefully decorated though. But lesser than expected. Staff needs more training. Substandard service considering the resort. Dinner options extremely limited. Dining room doesn’t serve dinner???? Do you want a sandwich for dinner? Then you’re all set. Enjoyed the island and the ambiance and the history. Driftwood Beach a must see. Stayed 4 nights. Now been there, done that.

The staff are top notch...respectful, knowledgeable, accommodating and engaging. The facilities are beautiful and in a beautiful location -- trees, water, trails, interior design and inside/outside areas of enjoyment. The bar options and the breakfast buffet were delicious and well prepared. Our room was renovated and beautifully appointed. The resort fee did not include bikes rental, and bike rentals were for 2 hour minimum which was a waste for us. Also, some of the exterior facilities were in need of repair -- board walks and such are damaged and need of repair. Otherwise, most of the facilities are outstanding! Our room was beautiful and updates, well appointed.

Beautiful and historic property that has been well maintained. Rooms in Sans Souci were very comfortable. We got a lovely complementary bottle of wine in our room for the birthday we were celebrating. The descriptions on booking.com are not accurate so we were frustrated that our room didn’t match what we reserved/prepaid for. I have always wanted to stay at the Jekyll Island club, so my husband and I decided to splurge and stay there for our 20th wedding anniversary. Sadly, this will be our first and last stay here. I don’t have enough space in this review to go into detail about my issue, but just know that the Club hotel over charged me by $150, and hasn’t been very helpful in resolving the problem. I was hoping to make this a yearly trip, but for the money we paid and the aggrevation we got, I will not ever stay here again. It’s such a beautiful place so full of history, but not worth the trouble. Beware!

For our entire 5 day stay we did not have one visit from house keeping. Our breakfast at our last day took 45 mins for eggs and a biscuit and no check back from the server. The room lacked lighting unless you opened the windows. The newly “remodeled” bathroom leaked an entire 1-2 inches of water that eventually we soaked up from our used and only 4 towels for our family of 4. Unless they improve the rooms and service we unfortunately will not be back at this hotel. May I say, we visit every Labor Day since 2018.

The five minute walk to and from parking will cost you a fresh shirt each time due to humidity, AND navigating the several adjoining buildings will take you a day to master, BUT YOU WILL ADAPT. The staff very accommodating, the public areas of the facility a grand experience. I would term the rooms adequate-- bed didn.t quite match my back, shower underpowered, everything else fine. Did not use the pool but inviting. Really enjoyed the little touches provided such as late afternoon champagne on the veranda, live music evenings in the bar. Had a fantastic (albeit slightly pricey) Sunday brunch in the beautiful Grand Dining Room; also as part of the main building complex The Pantry is a place to pick up a breakfast burrito, etc. The associated Wharf Restaurant a minute stroll across the property had surprisingly good casual seafood; 80 Ocean Restaurant is at the sister property Jekyll Ocean Club, located in a modern hotel and shopping development a 5-10 minute drive away, offering a bit more elevated fare (Island Club offers a semi-hourly shuttle service); the Dunes (which appears as a meal option in the resort materials) is a basic beach snack bar-- a good little drive from the resort.. You will also note a number of very grand "gilded age cottages" adjacent to the resort-- some of them available as group accommodations or event venues.

The grounds were very welcoming, and we could appreciate the history. In terms of food, we had snacks at the Pantry and Founder's Social. Although they are charming, there really needs to be more air conditioned options for seating. For dinner, we ate at Eighty Ocean at the sister property, which was very good. However, the website indicated there would be musical entertainment, and there wasn't any when we were there that evening. In terms of the Cherokee cottage, we were assigned to, there was no lighting in the hallway heading downstairs or on the first floor during the night, which we considered a safety hazard. The water pressure in our room was horrible, and, at one point, the shower handle came off in my hand. Fortunately, I was able to twist it back on. The air conditioning in the room had vents right over my head, and it blew on my face all night. We also have concerns about the quality of the air conditioning and whether or not there may have been a mold issue because we had to leave early since we were so congested.

It was in the historic district. Lots of beautiful cottages around the property to look at from the outside. If you took a trolley tour at the mosaic, you can walk inside one of the homes. The Mosaic Museum and The Georgia Sea Turtle Conservation are both within walking distance. It was nicely decorated and had activities on site. There were a few restaurants within walking distance that were owned by the hotel. You can take the hotel shuttle to the Ocean Club Resort for Beach access. Beds were comfortable and most of the staff were helpful. The pool was nice as well. The Pantry had good breakfast burritos. The ice cream on site was nice. The food and drinks at all the businesses owned by the resort are pricey for the quality of food and drinks available. If you are going to eat on site, The Pantry is the most reasonable with pretty good food. The Wharf was not good at all. The Sand bar was $7.50 for a can of beer. The Grand Dining Room was decent but it was $34.00 per person and juice was $4.00 extra.

After a 35 year lapse returning to Jekyll island Club was a real treat. Only suggestions. Additional dining options for a more formal dining would be helpful. Housekeeping needs to be nudged. Apparently new arrivals get priority over extended stay but 3:00 in the afternoon is a bit late for cleaning. A brief explanation of amenities and procedures at registration would be helpful. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is conducive to a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay.

It was an awful experience. Came to the property with my husband at 8:30pm. Checked it and went to the room to find out that we were “upgraded” to a completely different and not suitable for us room. Originally we booked a room with 2 queen beds since we travelled from far and wanted to fully rest having a separate bed for each of us. The room they upgraded us with no asking beforehand or even mentioning upon check in was a king bed with a queen sofa in a separate room. When we went to a front desk to be moved to a room we actually booked we were told that since there was 4 weddings during the weekend they had a responsibility for the guests and could not grant our room since the wedding guests were a priority. Really? so we are like the frequent guests of their sister hotel Ocean club were of a lesser value than the wedding guests. Such a nonsense! No apologies were given, the front desk guy said what I can only do is refund you and you go some place else. And it is at 10pm at night. No thanks. The room was located right by the entrance on the second floor and the noice from downstairs bar felt like you are actually part of that crowd in the bar. The noice kept alive till 12am at night! Awful customer service!! would never stay again!

The property and Club House were beautiful and filled with character and history. We enjoyed sunsets with cocktails and dinner at The Wharf restaurant. However, upon arrival the bell hop and front desk staff were not very welcoming or helpful. The bell hop did not give us directions to the front desk and the signage is not obvious so we had to wander a bit. When we came back to the car, the bell hop was less than eager to help us with the bags, so we just parked the car and took in our own bags. Because we were unfamiliar with the property we had to search for an open door and ended up carrying the luggage up the stairs because we could not find the elevator. Also, there was no hot water on the last day of our stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but were a bit disappointed in the level of service.

This property is stunning and so beautifully decorated for Christmas. The room was lovely and most of the staff were polite. House keeping was not 100% though. And after we booked through the Hotels app, we started getting GA and FL resident promotional emails, but the hotel wound't honor any of them because we booked through a third party. I know that's not unusual, but all we wanted was to ride some bikes. It cost us almost $60 (free for GA residents, which we are). They could have shared some good will and just given that to us. NYE dinner was very expensive and somewhat disappointing.

Just a few miles off the interstate and it’s like being transported back in time to a gilded age playground for the ultra-rich. A beautiful historic property in a beautiful natural setting with miles of walking paths and bicycle paths. Wonderful landscaping and breathtaking ancient live oaks everywhere. The staff were all very friendly and courteous. The resort is beautiful. The restaurants and food were disappointing. The Wharf restaurant food was bad. Flounder was overcooked and had little flavor. The food at the pool tasted as if it was reheated. The only good food we had was surprisingly the Pantry.

The hotel was quiet and peaceful with plenty of deck seating available. The grounds were well maintained and provided plenty walking and bike riding paths. We were only able to visit one cottage. It would have been great to be able to tour other onsite cottages. Our room's bathroom was dirty. There were yellow stains along the wall base grout and yellow stains around the toilet base. Also the hallways and elevator floors were dirty. They looked like they had not been vacuumed in a week or more. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

We stayed at the Jekyll Island Resort, it is a throwback to a bygone era with a beautiful old building that has incredible woodwork, stained glass and light fixtures. It is elegant and the service is top notch. We ate dinner at the Beach Club because the dining room is only open for breakfast, they have shuttle service back and forth which makes it very convenient. Dinner was very good. We had a nightcap at the bar with Victoria as our bartender, she is friendly and professional. All around it was a great stay.

The only thing that could have been better were food options. We had to leave the resort on Sunday night as nothing was open for dinner except The Pantry for sandwiches etc. The breakfast was expensive and was a buffet which equated to a breakfast at a Fairfield or Hampton but with less options. Coffee was not even included. Dinner is available six nights a week but a "Resort" should always have breakfast, lunch and dinner available that meet the expectations one would have of a full service "resort". That said, I will return again during the week to this lovely, historic hotel.

We got a very warm & informative greeting before our room was ready...we did get here super early! They have bikes to rent right here at the resort and we rode them around almost the entire island...stunning! What a gorgeous place to come and visit. The Jekyll Island Club Resort is such a special place to come visit, especially at Christmas time. The lights around the property were delightful. We played games in the parlor. The holiday decor is so romantic. Our double queen room was lovely and well equipped. Loved having tea and coffee in the room. The staff is helpful and nice. Can't wait to come back one day.

The resort is always lovely during the holidays. However, as an overnight guest, I expect to be given preference over walkins for breakfast seating. We arrived at 10am and were told they could not take us for breakfast, although breakfast was to be served until 10:30 and there were open tables available. Apparently they had a noon lunch event for the public and prioritized that seating over their paying lodging guests. Even after speaking to the front desk manager & the food & beverage director, we still were not seated. Not good customer service in my opinion for someone who is an annual patron to the hotel and also hosted a large wedding at this property. Disappointed to say the least.

Upon arrival no one was there to assist with luggage. I use a cane and passed 2 staff members with my luggage and never asked to assist or ask us if we had checked in. Finally a woman from the gift shop told me where to check in. Checking in the woman asked someone to check the room. The young guy went and came back and said it was good. As I entered the room I went straight to the bathroom and noticed a pubic hair on the seat of the toilet. Did that guy really check the room? The room also had a few food particles on the rug by the bed. The inspection was not done. Went to the pantry as it was most convenient and ordered a lava cake. The lava cake had no “lava”. It was a chocolate dry cake. The bed and pillows were both horrible and did not get a good nights sleep. For the amount I paid I expected more. We also had to pay a $10 fee to get to the island which was not stated on Expedias website. Not a happy camper. Btw the surrounding area had some Christmas ornaments that light up at night. When we went to see them they were not on. Disappointing!

Pretty historical property but not quite up to modern standards. Bed skirt in the room was in terrible shape and looked like it needed to be replaced years ago. Room was dark and shades opened up to unsightly view. There was dirt or sand on the main staircase for days that didn’t get cleaned. Very dark hallways with stained carpets. Going back and forth to parked car was a pain. Ate lunch at the wharf restaurant on site where the view and service were great but the food upset my stomach. In hindsight, the newer ocean club property probably would’ve been a better choice for me.
