Red Roof Inn Martinsburg

Stayed here as it was the cheapest place I could find close to Harper's Ferry, 30 min away. Similar to what you'd expect at a super 8, could use some updating at least concerning the rooms' exterior glass doors. Looks like several people are living the hotel life while I was there, but my room was clean and bedding was nice. Not far from interstate and lots of shopping nearby.

The property was old and not kept up. Although the linens appeared to be clean, the floors were filthy. The staff was friendly and nice, but the hotel itself was very much below grade.

The hotel wasn’t clean and the rooms were shabby… was disappointed once o walked inside the lobby and saw the conditions.. and then to see the signage on the front door that said “locals not allowed”. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone…

It was a place to stay when I was exhausted from traveling. The staff definitely didn't seem like they wanted to be there. The room was dirty and disgusting. The phone didn't work. The refrigerator almost fell on my daughter. The TV barely worked. No hand soap to wash your hands. I requested an extra bed that was approved but never received. No breakfast in the morning unless you call cold coffee that was watered down breakfast. The pillows,sheets and blankets were disgusting that I didn't even want my daughter to touch the bed let alone lay on it. Definitely sad because the Red Roof Inn in Massachusetts especially Mansfeild is really nice. Stay far away from this location.

Price was great, as well as the location. There was a 12inx12in piss stain on one of the sheets. My son checked the beds upon arrival to the room and yelled, "There is a pee stain." I didn't believe him, and came to look. Sure enough, a BLATANT urine stain. There is absolutely no way whoever put that sheet on didnt see it. I get it, the place is cheap, but that doesn't mean piss sheets should be on the bed. Ridiculous!

The staff are friendly and polite. The rooms could use some repairs. The AC works fine but filters should be cleaned. In my opinion the hotel is pet friendly.

The sheets were stained, the floor was stained and the air conditioner/fan/heater system made a lot of noise.

ESPECIALLY APPRECIATED THE PET FRIENDLY ASPECT

No amenities, not even a box of tissues or bar of soap. The room above us was noisy, walked the floors all night dropping things. The plumbing was noisy and someone above took showers at 2am and 5am. I was awake all night! I heard someone shouting during the night as well. The room was clean but in dire need of upgrades.

Bed had been slept in and was not remade. Light didn’t work. Used bath towel on the ground. Dirty hallway. Cockroach in plain sight. Front desk and hallways smelled like smoke. Horrible experience.

There was only coffee, no breakfast. The elevator was out of commission. The water stains in the shower were unappealing.

Location and price Whole place needs a makeover including staff. Very rundown; no coffee pot in room; a continental breakfast would be nice.

I only liked the price - the room had roaches - my pillows were flat - the white sheets had blood stains on them - the floor was sticky - when I walked in my socks they turned brown. Th woman at front desk was very nice - the man not so much. We stayed 2 nights, on Friday we left early with our 2 small dogs. When we returned at 5 the beds were not made - trash was still in waste cans - no clean towels. I wne to front desk and told the man, he said bring me your dirty towels and I will give you new ones. He then gave me a trash bag for our trash and told me where to put it outside. He did not move from his chair to help me. Advise to is avoid this place, it's really nasty.

There was roaches (i have video and photos) we found a bottle of sex oil under the bed. Housekeeping never knocked on door to change linens or towels. And there was a room beside or above us that played music so loud all day and night but nothing was done about it.. when I called and asked to move or get my money back so we could leave because of the roaches we was told that there was nothing they could do. So basically stay or leave and not get a refund but the next day a different lady asked how it was going with that issue. She then tells up if we wanted a different room the girl should have moved us. It doesn't help when the overnight works are playing video games has their friends hanging out in the lobby

Location. Close to interstate and lots of restaurants The state of the room. The refrigerators door was rusty as well as the bottle opener in the bath room I couldn't take a bath because it was unsafe. Not the handrails as displayed in the Booking.com pictures. I didn't feel safe as there was an unlocked door to the outside not 15 feet from my room. Door to bathroom had two patched holes. No kleenex in dispenser. No grab bars by the toilet. Room 101

Honestly, despite paying for 2 nights, I left early.

Climate was fine. Check-in staff was friendly, out going was meh. Pet area was very far away.

When I went there they told me they don't take locals. I was not aware of that and they stuck me on a specific floor for locals. It was dirty, paint missing on walls, drywall patches, dirt on the floors, sheets had spots on them... disgusting.

Room needed better cleanness. At arrival, there was a cigarette but next to the nightstand. Issues with plumbing. Sink leaked. Had to request extra towels to soak water on the floor. Day staff at front desk was very friendly, and really concern about my comments. Linens were not exactly fresh.

We had to lift the handle to the door room to get the door to close the hinges are so bad there is a large gap at the top and bottom of the door. There was a weird smell in the lobby and slight smell in the room. The room was clean but the shower heads need replaced as they are clogged and a lot of calcium build up.

Dirty, bad conditions inside and out. The smell was not very good either. The boxsprings were dirty and stained i diidnt even look at the mattress. I just checked right back out even though I would lose out on my money. No way I could stay in that room with my son.

This was absolutely the dirtiest nastiest hotel ive ever stayed in. The roof had blood or mold on it. The matress sheet had stains on it. The towel had a blood stain on it. The tv had mold and or puke on it. The tv remote didnt work as it had clear tape holding the batteries in which im pretty sure had a hair stuck to it. Absolutely disgusting.

There was no rooms available that didn’t have animals in it and previously smoked in the whole building smells of old cigarette, smoke odors, and Animal odors. due to my allergies, I wasn’t able to stay no rooms for accommodating my needs

The instant you walked through the front door there was a horrible smell that only got worse as you moved from the foyer to the front desk. The front desk was on the phone arguing so we stepped away for a second to allow him to finish. Once we got to the room the smell continued. We noticed as we opened the door that the safety feature on the door was busted and repaired with "bubble gum" . Towels were stained and not to my surprise there were dead baby roaches on the sink. The floor must have been mopped with sewer water as it was sticky and dirty as well. Hotels.com should remove this listing from their option of hotels in this area.

Hotel looked old but room was clean.

Good place for a traveler, friendly staff, decent price, and fairly clean. Even though its smoke free the room it smelled like cigarettes, went to open the window to air it out... most of the smell is the curtains. The bathroom had evedence of old water damage and the shower head leaked where it was threaded on the pipe, the water sprayed in to the corner of the tub so its not a big deal, also there wasn't much light in the bathroom. Overall not bad but some things could be better.

Red Roof Inn is a good hotel if you are looking for a cheaper but decent place to stay. There is no breakfast provided, but AC is decent and the beds are comfortable. The shower/bathroom area seems poorly designed, but it is not unmanageable.

We had been van camping but temperatures were in the high 90's and we couldn't stand it any longer. Checked for pet friendly motels and found this one. When we entered our room, we were stunned by the temperature and found the air-conditioner set at 64 degrees. It certainly was nice but we had to change it to 69 degrees for sleeping.

We did not stay at this hotel. It was filthy and dilapidated. The door to room did not shut properly and the deadbolt was not working. It appeared that the door had been kicked in at some point. The whole place was shady and gross. I took pictures and will be contacting the manager on Monday for a refund.

I've stayed at this location before. The staff is always friendly. One thing they should work on is having more ice machines. There's only one and it's on the 1st floor. It wasn't working this time. Other than that no issues.

Hotel was showing its age. The elevator was not working. The pillows and bedding were insufficient. The room was noisy due to the traffic on the interstate. No kleenex.

Bed topper had stains all over

It's just a place to stay. Nothing to write home about. Furnishings old and makshift field repairs for room damage. Exterior door swipes (at least one) doesn't work so the hallways/stairways cannot be secured. Good nightly rates, but you can see the reason the rates are low is the overall condition of the property.

Overall it was a good hotel and room. It’s a bit rundown, although my room was perfectly. Jean and looked nice, bathroom door didn’t close properly nor did the door to the hallway, which didn’t even have the safety lever. But for $70 it was fine for a night.

The staff was wonderful, the beds comfortable. The only complaint is that the fridge smelled like old fish to the point that if you opened it, the whole room would stink for awhile. The fridge was not dirty it just reeked really bad.

For the weekend it was 140, when we had a horrible experience at another hotel we were in town visiting family we were forced to leave because of my service animal. This was the only place we could afford this will be our new go to hotel everytime we come visit family. I have no complaints about this hotel.

I paid for a king accessible room. The staff was very accommodating and even assisted me and my luggage to my room. I was taken to the furthest room on the end. When I got into the bathroom, there was a corner of the wall near the sink and bathroom and it looked like it was undergoing repairs. I thought, ok, use the wall. Then I took a shower. No bar in the tub? I had just finished rinsing when the handle fell off and landed in the tub!! I yanked back the curtain and bumped my hand on something metal. I pulled the curtain in the opposite direction and found the safety bar AND a sign warning me to place a mat on the tub to prevent falls. How was I to know to lift the entire curtain to search for hidden accessories? I finally got settled into bed, grabbed the remote...didn’t work. Had to get up, got down to the desk. Got up a 2:30 to pee. Watched a cockroach scurry across the bathroom floor towards the bed. Yup. I asked about the "handicap accessible room." I was told that since the elevator was broke, they thought they would give me a more accesible room to get to. (All the handicap ♿️ rooms are on the second floor). I said it would have been nice to inform me. That staff member that night did apologize. The next morning, as I was leaving, I stopped at the desk and spoke with a gentleman and told him I was extremely unhappy with my stay and why. He replied, "I'll let management know." I never heard from anyone.

This was one of the worst Hotels we have ever stayed at , The The room did not not a any chairs to sit like the web site showed. The bed sheets have hole in them, the was little to no lighting in the bathroom . the door to the room had a large gap all the way around the the you could see in the hall way through the crack. there was what seemed to be a lot of homeless people hanging around the hotel . At night it was loud and the room next to ours played the tv loud all night. buy for this place was a dump

Hotel had good customer service but terrible quality. The sheets had stains all over them. The floors looked like they hadn’t been swept between people. Your feet looked black after walking around and that’s due the fact that it didn’t look like it had been mopped in weeks. The hotel needs updating as well. Our room had outside doors and they did not seal. The door frame was falling apart and so was the walls around it. The ac smelled like mildew and didn’t blow very high at all at first. Upon showering I could see streaks of what looked like a man’s beard trimming on the shower walls. This place needs some better upkeep and could use some remodeling or at least fix the issues in the rooms.

Convenient off highway, easy online check in but computer took a while once we arrived in lobby. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was dirty. 2 double beds, one was ok. The other mattress cover was disgusting. Blood and other gross stains all over it. We wouldnt even sit on that bed. There were tufts of hair all over the floor and just dirty in general. There was no remote for the tv and had to get one from front desk.

Staff were friendly. Other than that, yuck.

Door had damage. Gap around door you could see thru. Bathroom door had a whole in it the size of a fist.

Needed a place to stay. Had no problem booking. Cheap. Slept, left. Not a place for everyone. You may have to have a tolerance for colorful people.

One of the better places I’ve stayed at. Clean and comfortable and the checkin was quick and easy. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in town.

The pillows on the beds had hair on them and sheets on one of the beds looked blood stained. The security on the property was lax and there were some undesirables hanging out around the area that made one feel unsafe. There were many other notable things that were negative about the property. I'd be glad to send some photographs of some of the things mentioned.

No one was at the front desk to check us in. Sign said back in 5 minutes. No one showed up after 30 minutes of waiting. Went to another hotel.

My one problem what noise from the nearby highway, because I am a light sleeper. But, I am sure this is typical for most highways by expressway exits.

Room was unfinished with paint patches; missing moulding, command hooks instead of towel bars, dirty bedding and pet hair on the floors.

Budget friendly and a good central location

The room had visible damage from prior guests, the shower did not have hot water easily accessible, the check in process took almost 20min of standing at the desk while the computer moved at a gacial pace, the check out process was long as well as there was no staff behind the counter. The room clearly smelled of smoke from prior guests. I will not be renting a room here again.

Older building and room with a stale odor, it was cold the heat wasn't turned on when I arrived. Restaurants nearby within walking distance.Sparse toiletries. It seems like no one really takes pride in this place, with a breakfast, nice coffee and some snacks and better maintenance this could be a nice place.

staff was nice people playing music/drinking beers in parking lot outside my window from 7p-11p was a little annoying. bathtub didnt drain very well. that was nasty. people were definitely living there. so it had that vibe to the place. nothing happened to my truck over night. so that what good. staff was great but won't be staying at a red roof inn again.

Hotel was decent enough was looking for a reasonable stay somewhere so we can take multiple mini vacations, hotel staff seemed friendly enough, I will say one thing we got a king suite and it wasn’t a bad room but it desperately needed either a small love seat and coffee table or two chairs and a coffee table that was my only complaint really, we stayed 3 nights and it was very well located within walking distance to places to eat and sheets was right before the hotel turn in. Walmart was close by also, we are really big on eating what we can at the room and then going out for a nice meal while away saves money all and all the place was clean and dry…a fresh coat of paint would do a world of good but I. Not complaining I enjoyed our stay

I think the rooms could be a little cleaner and the coffee station could be a little better. I used wipes to wipe down areas in the room that were dirty. I think the rooms could use some slight upgrades. It was great to have the fridge, microwave and coffee pot and condiments.

The staff were very nice and friendly, however the room had quite a lot of traffic noise due to it’s location. Great to get off the highway and get to your hotel quickly but the traffic noise was noticeable. Not any fault of the hotel but worth mentioning if you are a light sleeper.

The elevator is questionable at best and takes forever for a 3-story building. Upon stepping off on the second floor the stench of people cooking almost made us ill. It sure seems like people are living here. Rooms open and people going between several. We were put at the end of the hallway which kept us from the bulk of the odor but all night the stairwell door slamming kept us up. As did the bed which sounded like it had a plastic bed liner which crinkles and creaks with every move. The bathroom was dirty with hair in the shower and sink. The towels are about as thin as you can get. It’s just a no on every level. You really do get what you pay for.

The only thing that I saw that I thought could be improve is a light over bathroom sink for in the morning when shaving it seemed to be hard to see every good over the sink area the light in the bathroom in the tub area was hard to see over sink by you standing in front of sink with the light behind you.

Room was clean, just a dirty washcloth left behind in the folds of the shower curtain. (Only noticed it once the shower curtain was fully opened up for a shower.) Staff friendly. Minor issues like a hole in the wall from a doorknob, a LARGE gap between the door and the doorframe near the bottom of the room door, banging pipes when the room above used the water, and the ice machine not working, made for slight inconveniences, but, overall a pleasant stay.

The people loitering outside of the building and in the lobby were sketchy at best. The staff was kind. The building condition was disgusting and the room hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guest. They did not have another room available although the parking lot was empty. Staff refunded my charge to Hotels.com; currently waiting to confirm Hotels.com honors the refund to my credit card.

I was pleasantly surprised. Check in was fine as well as our room. My only complaint was the room next door. The t v was blasting

The elevator was broken. There was no continental breakfast as promised. The blankets and sheets were dirty and when asked to have them changed or not. My door did not shut all the way and there were no coffee cups in the room for the coffee maker. The reception staff was fantastic. Very friendly.

Thought it was clean at first I did find stained towels and comforter. Elevator was out the entire weekend.

No toilet paper in the room.shower was a trickle.one lock on the door was only half there.light fixtures missing.It looked like they were in the middle of remodeling. Not happy at all with this place.

The hotel was filthy & unsanitary. There were roaches in both beds, crawling on the walls, on the desk & food stains on the walls. I was very annoyed & repulsed by this situation.

The front desk clerk was very nice and even brought us more pillows. Hotel and our room appeared clean and tidy, but we did find a small cockroach in the bathroom.

They had bed bugs and when I brought it to their attention, the desk asked what room, walked over to the computer and refunded our stay. No acting surprised, no apology, like this was the norm. Disgusting
