I look forward to staying again.
- 5/5
I was there for two nights for a last minute work trip. It was clean and small but perfect for one person. I loved this little hotel
- 4.5/5
Location is excellent. Near food and coffee and subway. City turned off water for repairs, but not the hotel’s fault
- 3/5
IT WAS CLOSED DUE TO A FIRE
- 5/5
Great location and the room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet.
- 5/5
I always enjoy my stays here.
- 4/5
Nice hotel, convenient for a couple of nights, good location, most suitable for young travelers and students.
- 2/5
Bed was comfortable and room was very nice
- 5/5
Very well located, small rooms but extremely clean , overall excellent deal for the price in that area!
- 3/5
Staff was sleeping too much
- 5/5
Affordable clean, just lots of stairs lol
- 5/5
No complaints.
- 5/5
All good
- 1.5/5
The location and the price Old building, extremely noisy pipes
- 5/5
Love this place. A good value, very nice simple boutique type hotel. Be aware had 4 floors with no elevator however.
- 5/5
It was great, I stayed in the shared bathroom and I had no problem at all.
- 5/5
Reasonable rates Clean room/bathroom Quiet Complimentary snacks at office Employee I interacted with was friendly & helpful Highly recommended
- 4/5
the location and look there were a bunch of condom wrappers in the room
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
The room was clean, simple yet comfortable. I had to spend a whole day inside it during the big blizzard. The afternoon before I stopped by the Trader Joes 3 blocks up the road and got provisions to "shelter in place". By the evening it was impossible to go out, so the fridge, microwave and coffee pot were just perfect. The staff was great too. I was on the 4th floor and there was no elevator, so staff helped me carry stuff up. They also have complimentary snacks and coffee at reception. The Inn is well located, and fine for sitting out a blizzard!
- 4/5
Clean, not too tiny room and bath. Helpful staff. Very affordable. Good location. Very firm high pillows - if that is not to your liking it’s a problem.
- 5/5
Spotless and clean. Very friendly staff
- 5/5
Yes clean room .
- 5/5
Nice
- 4/5
Central location, small but cozy, helpful staff older building.
- 3/5
Overall okay for the price I would stay again if I had too
- 4/5
Buen servicio!
- 5/5
Quiet, good location. Everything we wanted.
- 1/5
Room was very small -- not as advertised. Smelly. Hostel -- not hotel/inn
- 2/5
Staff support lacking, no elevators, irritating check in process.
- 5/5
Excelente estadía
- 5/5
Small room but clean and great location. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly, great place and location for the low cost!
- 4/5
Location. Staff friendliness. No elevator.
- 3/5
It’s cheap. Be prepared to walk up stairs to your room. Small rooms. You get what you pay for.
- 5/5
Staff was nice and helpful. For me it was perfect bc I lived in nyc for 12 years so it felt like home. The room is like a bedroom. Took a while for the hot bath water to warm up. That’s the only thing I can think of honestly.
- 4/5
Very nice clean room and bathroom. had everything we needed, from toiletries and hairdryer to fridge and microwave. Coffee and snacks at reception. very safe. good location near subway stations.
- 4/5
No microwave
- 4/5
Clean
- 4/5
Room was comfortable
- 1/5
put in my credit card info and had to take a picture of it as well as my ID and a day later i get a $132 and $432 charge for concert resale tickets, what a coincidence. save yourself the time and don’t stay here. i knew something was fishy when they wanted a photo of my card info. card number, expiration date and cvv. protect yourself and be smart. or you’re gonna regret it. not to mention the blood stained sheet me and my bf slept on and didn’t notice till the next morning and load moaning sounds coming from a floor or so down. the people at the front desk were none existent most of the time and when requested a refund they denied.
- 4/5
Staff was great. Room was clean. Price was reasonable for NYC. The mattress in my first room was great....nice and firm, but the second room I was in....the mattress was way too soft and sunk in the middle.
- 5/5
Easy check-in & check out. Great price!
- 4/5
Nice staff, clean bedding, great location. Water pressure in the bathroom was not great, but I appreciated that our room had a microwave as well as a generously-sized mini fridge. I would definitely consider booking here again.
- 5/5
Room was great, staff helpful, and, again, perfect location for me
- 4/5
Location
- 5/5
Yes. Room nice. Staff quietly efficient.
- 5/5
Clean room great staff
- 5/5
Amazing lovely hotel
- 4/5
Staff was very kind and accommodating, room was clean and heating was so nice in the winter. Only downside is the walk up style building, so pack light just in case!
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly and helpful. The room we had was clean and met all of our needs. The subway was just a short walk away. We will be back for sure.
- 5/5
Also great location, I love that part of NYC TY, Eric N.
- 5/5
Cute. Good location. A little too warm in the room for me but i like to sleep very cold. Hotel is very clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Yes
- 3/5
The was one big problem. The draft coming off of the window was so cold that I had to move the bed away from it. This basically cut a very small room down to no floor space. I will probably avoid this location in the winter.
- 4/5
For the price, room was solid. Staff was very nice and they had some snacks out front too. My complaint was that we had to leave a day early because of the winter storm and i assumed they would give us a partial refund due to others having the same situation but they did not accommodate us. Overall would come back though.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay very convenient and clean.
- 5/5
Staff is friendly, helpful and personable. It’s a simple hotel but it’s relatively cheap and you get what you need and exactly what you pay for. It’s quaint, cozy, simplified and straight to the point. I’ve been here twice and would happily stay again.
- 2/5
Room had a radiator heat pipe on the side that was not adjustable and caused parts of the bed to be hot to the touch, even with the windows open. Bed sagged and was somewhat uncomfortable. Staff very friendly.
- 5/5
Great place but the pipe is really hot
- 5/5
The room was nice and cozy. Everyone was friendly
- 3/5
Clean Comfortable TOO LOUD. QUIET HOURS NOT OBSERVED OR ENFORCED
- 5/5
Location was great! Good value for the price.
- 3/5
Windows are not sound resistant at all, noise wise it feels like you’re sleeping outside. They should mention that there’s is no elevator.
- 5/5
Great location! Small room but exactly what we needed!
- 5/5
We loved our stay. The room was small but clean and had what we needed, and was a great value / rare find. We were in a fourth floor walkup but the staff offered to help us with our luggage; very sweet. Our stay was easy and we'd stay there again!
- 4/5
Is in a great location Too small
- 2.5/5
The water flow for bath is to small
- 4.5/5
Great place! the staff was amazing. the room was clean and nice.
- 4/5
Location was great, lots of places to eat near by, trader joes close by Had first floor room, by the door, on the weekend very noisy because of bar next door. Could hear people coming and going
- 3.5/5
location is good between lower manhattan and midtown. good value for money would be better to have a separate bathroom. having to share with some person gives roommate vibes I guess
- 4/5
Close to Union Square Westside Market 2 blocks away Washington Square in walking distance Bed wasn’t bad but not all to comfortable
- 2/5
The room was a million degrees it was actually crazy. The thermostat did not work at all. It was already so hot in the building but coming back to our room at night literally felt like walking into a sauna. It was radiator heating too so there was a hot ass pole in the corner of the room. I genuinely would not be surprised if this building burnt down one day. The check in process was weird too. I had to take like three different photos of my debit card and then enter all the information. Kinda worried I’m gonna get scammed. No elevators btw. Staff was nice enough though
- 5/5
Very nice, clean, comfortable, affordable room. Thanks!
- 4/5
The entry codes to the room and front were worked perfectly. Room was very clean. Shared bath was easily managed. The room was comfortable, however they should provide a bedside lamp. All the light switches are at the door. Room is pretty dark with no windows. The room had all the extras you would expect in a hotel. It was located in a good area easily accessible from the 18th street subway station.
- 5/5
Comfy beds and everything worked. And the location was great, in Midtown, literally in the middle of everything and a manageable walk from the subway Pretty tight quarters, though we were expecting that so no problem. Oh, and a little accessory table wasn’t put together right so would fall over if you bumped into it
- 3/5
The property was precisely where we needed it to be as we were in town for an event in union square. The bathroom soaps and moisturizer were no longer attached and that gave it a feeling of a lack of hospitality. Also, there were no elevators and we were on the 4th floor.
- 5/5
I had stayed here many may years ago. It was very nice. I loved my room and it was very comfortable and clean. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and patient - we were having technology issues Nothing
- 5/5
Honestly, for the price that you are paying for the service was above it. The staff was very courteous. The room itself from as far as I could tell was very clean. I enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Simple and good! Would've wanted a lamp on the bedstand
- 4/5
It's an old hotel, and you can hear all the noise from outside and from the other rooms. There's no elevator, and you have to be careful with the heating unit because it can burn you. The rooms are small but comfortable. You have to pay extra if you want housekeeping, but the location is EXCELLENT.
- 5/5
Very convenient location. Right by several subway entrances and 5th Ave shopping! Cute cozy inn perfect spot to rest!
- 4/5
Clan room, friendly staff
- 4/5
Yes room spotless. Yes staff friendly. Room was alittle cold for me but norhing outrageous. I didnt know to fix the heat.
- 5/5
great room and great price
- 4/5
Clean room staff friendly very affordable good choice
- 5/5
Prime location. Does the job. The room was clean. Tiny but who stays in their room….
- 4/5
The staff were amazing and so helpful when we had any issues, they addressed it quickly and helpfully. The location is also really great near a metro stop, and it's in the middle between Midtown and downtown which is convenient for sightseeing.
- 5/5
The room was fabulous! We upgraded to a room with a bathroom, it had a tv, desk, microwave, fridge, and the heating worked great. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We definitely would come again!
- 5/5
It had a clean room, good staff, and the room was comfortable.
- 3/5
Room cleanliness was spot on.
- 4/5
Sparse room but clean and very reasonably priced. Fantastic location… neatly everything is a close walk away. Even a Penn Station!
- 4/5
A somewhat basic hotel but the location is the big selling point. It was clean to a reasonable high standard. Note the rooms are very small, but it was perfect for our one-night stopover in the Big Apple.
- 5/5
Room was nice. Location was perfect. Staff was very courteous.
- 4.5/5
We loved the location! The room itself was very functional and well thought out, especially for how small New York rooms can be. The bathroom was excellent, and loved being able to open the windows to let fresh air in! The staff was a little abrasive at first as well as the morning of check out, but otherwise they were pretty helpful. The room was really hot right at the start and we didn’t see a way to control the air from the room itself, but being able to open the windows helped immensely.
- 5/5
Nice staff, very good location, everything the best of the best
- 5/5
Had a great stay at Chelsea Inn. Everything was excellent, and I have no complaints.
- 5/5
trust that i will be back next time i visit Chelsea CRG
- 2/5
This is a glorified hostile
- 5/5
Room was great! Location is close to many shops and subway stations. We stayed here to go to the village and Chelsea Piers and got to enjoy a nice fresh snow in the city while having a perfect place to stay.
- 5/5
Convenient location. There is no elevator but thankfully I was only on the third floor.
- 5/5
Good size, clean room, very easy in and out even without a key
- 5/5
The room was nice, very clean air--not stuffy at all. Would have liked a complimentary bottle of water. But comfortable all in all. Very friendly and courteous staff. We would stay there again.
- 1/5
Got a room on the 5th floor and they don't have an elevator. Property was fully booked.
- 3/5
Lights in the bathroom weren’t working and it was very dark. And the sink was stopped up. People at the desk were very nice and the hotel is convenient to the metro.
- 3/5
I was in rm 501 door 1 and I had to sleep with the window opened due to the ac not working i so scared thinking a rat might crawl in. Also we had to share a bathroom and it was horrible having to wait for my roommate to use the bathroom. I was on the 5th floor with no elevator. But besides that it was ok.
- 5/5
Good location, staff is friendly, excellent value for the cost. I will definitely be staying here again.
- 4/5
Spotless. Excellent value for money. Friendly helpful staff. Well located. Very compact. Be ready for climbing stairs. Mattress was ok but we rolled into the middle. Wifi connection very poor is my only real complaint.
- 3/5
Everything about the hotel was fine. The webform had a problem (using an Android cell phone)--I could not upload photo identification for both guests, which resulted in a minor delay. After 5 the problem could have been more serious.
- 3/5
Extremely small. Great location. Heating pipe exposed beside bed (gets very hot) so it’s a hazard.
- 5/5
Simple and efficient! Wish more hotels were like that, just put a card on file, charge or change it, get a code for your entry annd room and your set. Wish it wasn’t a shared bathroom but everything else is great. It was nice to see it was a single bed instead of doubles. Makes the romantic night even more worth it. Thank you Chelsea Inn!
- 3/5
Polite and helpful staff
- 5/5
The stay was a good value. Simple, clean, and with friendly staff. It was my first visit to the hotel after visiting NYC many times. I’ll be trying them again.
- 5/5
Clean room and convinient location
- 5/5
Clean room, very nice staff, excellent location
- 2/5
The room I had was so hot because of the hot water pipe running through the room. It must have been 80 degrees at least. As a result, I didn’t sleep well. Otherwise the location is great and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend a room in the back of the building as the street level noise is loud.
- 4/5
Good staff. LOUD @$$ BED but comfortable. Tiny cozy room. Shared bathroom but other guests were respectful. 2 flights of stairs, NO ELEVATOR. This was pretty bad but manageable just horrible after walking all day. Free water and snacks. Good stay, u get more than expected from the price!
- 3/5
Room was literally at the front entrance of the hotel so could hear every guest coming and going. Unable to open shades/curtains bc there would be zero privacy. Mattress was super uncomfortable and bedframe was very noisy any time we even rolled over. Not a great night’s rest in this particular room but bathroom was updated and very clean and the staff was great. Have stayed here before and the room was better but still a fair amount of street noise
- 5/5
El cuarto limpio, el personal muy amable en especial Vilma
- 4/5
The only negative part is that the garbage trucks and contruction people were working at night time and it was difficult not to be awaken by the noises outside and close to the hotel. Otherwise, really enjoyed my stay for my solo trip!
- 4/5
Room was good
- 5/5
Good as it can be.
- 5/5
Very clean and service was very nice !
- 4/5
Yes and yes.
- 5/5
Great front lobby personnel. Friendly and helpful.
- 1/5
Facility has no elevator, and a walk-up to the room was not possible for one guest. We never got near the place.
- 5/5
Room tiny but optimal. Clean. "Merci"
- 4/5
Did not include sofa bed as listed
- 4/5
Clean, tidy, easy to find and get in and out of without keys. Good location. Quiet. Small room with good sized bathroom but its new york and you're not in the room other than to sleep so does the job. Would recommend for easy fuss free travellers.
- 2/5
Too noisy. Tenperature control didnt work. Rooms were stuffy .
- 4/5
Good experience
- 2/5
I think the fact that there is no elevator and I had to walk up 5 flights of stairs with my luggage and that I would have to share a bathroom with the room next door - should have been clearer in the description; then I would not have stayed there.
- 5/5
Everything and everyone was great! The staff was very welcoming and very accommodating!! Very happy with our stay!
- 4/5
Great Staff!
- 3/5
Then once we got to our room, the radiator was located where we could not reach it behind the headboard and the temperature in the room was 82°. The mini split would not turn on the air. It only was on heat as well. We brought this to the attention of the maintenance guy and he said he was going to call the super, but nobody ever came to check it out thankfully there was a ceiling fan a little comfort. Overall, I was not happy with the location of our room in the building, and the temperature in the room. Even though we brought it to the attention of the maintenance and front desk, it was not addressed until Saturday night around midnight. Thankfully, front desk could reach the radiator and was able to turn it down for our final night stay.
- 4/5
Staff was super helpful when we needed some things addressed in our room! As long as you know there's no elevator and you have to take the stairs you're fine! We enjoyed the location. It was walkable to many food options and the subway.
- 5/5
Good fun and great staff
- 5/5
Very cozy spot to lay my head in the middle of a busy working week. Nice private bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, comfortable heating and cooling. Contactless check-in was smooth and fast too!
- 5/5
All great
- 5/5
Stayed here 3 nights in a shared bathroom room and I gotta say that everything was great and as advertised. Few things - The heater was behind my bed and at night my pillows were extremely hot since the heat penetrated the bedrest which was a bit uncomfortable but not a deal breaker. The absence of an elevator is rough specially with heavy luggage and a very narrow staircase, but once again we knew that so it was fine. Employees were friendly and they had a few snacks on the desk. It’s amazingly situated as theres quite a lot of train stops near and decent restaurants and coffee shops ( Try the Mido’s Gyros they are amazing near Ulta ). We really enjoyed our stay will MOST DEFINITELY stay here the next time we got back to NY. PD The shared bathroom is a NON-ISSUE as most of the time people are out and its like right outside your room door under another hub that gives your privacy.
- 1/5
Beds horrible, rooms are loud with crazy pipes and heating noises randomly through the night. door code didn’t work for an entire day. Staff knocked on the door at 2am confirming payment! The stay was less that great.
- 5/5
great stay
- 4/5
This was a great place to stay. Person at reception was very welcoming. Only negative was that the pipes where we were staying (room 508) were constantly making noise-loud noise- in the middle of the night several times, which made it impossible to sleep. Since they are old radiator, styled water heaters, the pipe pipes never stopped marking a “clanking” noise. (like someone was banging on a metal pipe with a hammer.). Other than that, the room was small, but was very clean.
- 4/5
The location was conveniently located near the 1 train, which made it easy to get there from Penn Station and to the theater. We were also able to drop our bags off before check-in. The rooms are quite compact and walk up only. It worked for a 1 night stay, but probably wouldn’t stay longer.
- 5/5
The air conditioning wasn’t good
- 5/5
,Quede encantada, lo recomiendo.
- 5/5
Very clean reasonably priced no frills room! While small, it was very functional !
- 4/5
Staff was very nice and the hotel is in a good location. Easy to get around the city from here.
- 5/5
such a fantastic place to stay!
- 5/5
Room was cute and
- 5/5
At less than $200/night minutes away from Greenwich Village with easy access to midtown Manhattan, this hotel is exceptional. Feels more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. The rehab of this late 19th century building keeps up with the needs of today's guest in every way but one: guests must carefully review the website and its photos. This building has no elevator and many long, steep flights of stairs. One must be very aware of this and plan accordingly.
- 5/5
Great!
- 4/5
The light in our room was very dim, not good enough to work by, but we only needed a place to sleep. Small room, but had all the necessary amenities. Very good value.
- 3/5
there was no working AC, so the room was a little hot. but it was clean and in a great location. The guy was
- 5/5
Went for a weekend trip and while the room was small it was everything we needed. Great area and super friendly staff, would stay here again
- 4/5
Nice private room. Loved that I didn’t need a key, this inn is an introvert’s dream. Staff was kind!
- 5/5
The room was adorable. It was very clean and cute. Perfect for my solo adventure. I had a mini fridge and microwave which I wasn’t expecting. I booked a room with a bathroom/shower, it was also very clean and had toiletries. My only complaint is that my room got pretty warm during my stay. There was a fan that helped some but the AC unit didn’t work or maybe that was a me thing. Either way, it didn’t bother me enough to complain while I was there. Again, very cute hotel with tons of stores and restaurants in the area. I walked back and forth from Amtrak with no issues. I would absolutely stay again.
- 5/5
Good price.
- 3/5
Unsure of cleanliness after finding a random, big dangling earring in the bed. Loud banging in the pipes kept me awake all night. No phone charging ports were available. A vending machine or access to any cold drink would have been greatly appreciated. Especially, after having to climb five flights of stairs . If i had known there was no elevator and I had to make it up all those flights of stairs, every time I returned, I never would’ve booked here. This, I believe, should be boldly stated, so guests that may be physically unable to keep making the climb, are aware what they are in for. . I actually got so nauseous, from breathing so hard, that I threw up after I climbed them the 4th time.
- 3/5
Check in process requested identity and credit card information to be emailed, which is not secure - did not disclose this prior to booking. No front desk or staff outside of 8-5. Room was very hot - no way to control temperature or contact someone about it at night
- 3/5
The room was a bit dirty, too hot (heating was throught the roof) The shared bathroom was absolutely not clear on the ad. Great friendly staff tho. No elevators. Bed was low quality.
- 4/5
Clean and good location. Had to walk up five flights of stairs so beware. Shared bathroom was not an issue. I am not sure anyone else was sharing with us. Great location. No frills but perfect for our quick stay in NYC.
- 5/5
Amazing person at the front desk. Room was clean and as advertised.
- 5/5
For a budget hotel, it’s just fine. Great location. No elevator (5th floor). Share private bathroom with another room. Weak Wi-Fi. But the area is great, the room is clean, cozy and quiet, and the no front desk check-in was smooth. If want to save $200 per night for restaurants and activities, this is your place.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Clean room, easy to check in, helpful staff!
- 4/5
Staff was great… a bit loud but it is NYC. My room was right next to the entrance door so that wasn’t indicated on the reservation.
- 3/5
Room is fine. Quite compact but ok for a night. Little interaction with staff.
- 1/5
Apparently they don’t maintain staff on site after 5 pm. But checkout is 3? But they send a really shady checking email that uses an off site form to take your drivers license and credit card info. I refused to do that but booked same day so wasn’t able to get a refund.
- 4/5
-
- 3/5
On the other hand the water presure was very low, they didnt offer clean towels or coffee refils ,but I could have asked. I didnt have time to deal with that. A terrycloth robe would have helped as specially since tgere was a shared bathroom if you didnt rent bith rooms in the suit. The biggest problem was that it was on the 5th floor and we were told it was on the 3rd floor so my partner had to stay somewhere else. That caused us a miriad of difficulties. We got in late and by morning there were no ither rooms available for us to move to although we had discussed a switch.
- 5/5
I did not catch the front desk ladies name but she was absolutely wonderful.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Room was great, dropped off luggage early and it was in our room when we came back after seeing a couple shows. Clean, warm and quiet. Staff was helpful.
- 5/5
My fav place to stay
- 4/5
Clean room, genial staff who were helpful and professional. Cheap by NY standards, good location. 4th fl. walk up was doable but talk to me in 10 years. Some other guest had a bit too much fun and was making a bit of noise, but otherwise room was quiet. Spotty WiFi continues to be an issue in every hotel I've stayed in, including this one. I'd stay here again.
- 5/5
Everything was good. Parking area acrtthe street. Good location.
- 2/5
Bed broken and uncomfortable. Room very hot unable to control heat. AC not working and AC unit was dirty. Don’t get a room above 3rd floor if you’re a senior - no elevator, stairs narrow and steep. Room and bathroom are tiny.
- 4/5
Old. Charming. No elevator. Great location. Perfect for carefree solo traveler.
- 2/5
Very noisy at night. Extremely poor wifi connection. The hot water pipes make very loud sound in the middle of the night. Staff is friendly, but that doesn't help to rectify the issue. Upperantly owners are aware of the super loud noisy pipes, but have not dealt with it. The noise from the nearby bar is going until around 2am and you can here it in the room. I will not stay there again.
- 5/5
5 floor was up sucked, but price was right
- 4/5
Room was clean, water pressure was low in the shower. Location was very convenient to our visit to West Village and use of the subway system.
- 5/5
Love it! Very clean, within walking distance of my son in West Village, friendly staff, love the vibe!!! Will return!
- 3/5
Clean room, dusty fan.
- 5/5
It was a little loud in the morning but very convenient and cozy.
- 5/5
No frills but clean, convenient, professional and accommodating. It’s my go-to for an inexpensive place in Manhattan.
- 2/5
Road work outside created unbearable sound. No elevator. Shared bathrooms. Thin walls. Bed was horrible. Not worth the money- do yourself a favor and spend an extra $100 bucks and stay somewhere we you can have your own bathroom.
- 5/5
The room was exactly as presented and had everything one would need.
- 5/5
Wilma at the front desk was awesome! The room is clean and has its own ac/heat unit. The bed is comfortable. It’s very quiet. The communication is excellent. And the cost is very reasonable.
- 2/5
The electronic door lock kept malfunctioning. The towel rack in the bathroom was falling down all the time, and I woke up to loud construction every morning. The last night of my stay I had a cockroach on my bed by my pillow.
- 5/5
The room was hot, couldn't get it to cool off. (Heat rises) The 5 flight walk up every day killed me. (all the walking added to fatigue made my knee hurt alot) the room was clean, shower clean, not good water pressure due to being on 5th floor, but just took longer to bathe. .
- 4/5
Great location and nice staff.
- 2/5
Cons: NOISE!!!! you will not get any sleep here because the street right outside has plates and every time some is driving over it, you will absolutely hear it. I do NOT recommend staying here if you're just looking to rest your head, there are better options for a few more bucks.
- 3/5
There were weird clunking noises happening randomly the whole time we stayed. The WiFi also did not work very well on the upper floors, our room was on the 5th floor and we could hardly get a connection in our room.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Clean, friendly staff, great location, was able to store luggage after check-out and before my flight. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Clean, convenient and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend to anyone and I will certainly be back. Thank you.
- 1/5
Bunk bed very uncomfortable. Might be ok for a kid but not for an adult. My back hurt the next day and my husband's shoulder too. No where to sit other than one stool and the top single bunk. Furniture rickety, handle missing screw on closet door. Toilet bowl dirty, missing hand soap in bathroom. Our room happened to be next the front door on ground level and we heard people coming and going all night.
- 5/5
Aside from no elevator you really cant complain for a good night beds were alright but will be back for sure
- 5/5
The room is in good shape, the only frustrating part is the noise from the heat kicking on at 5am every day. Outside of that, it’s actually a very quiet hotel by New York standards. Would recommend!
- 5/5
Great little hotel.
- 4/5
For the price, what you get is not bad. It’s a place to sleep while visiting the city and not spending a lot of money. It’s small, but comes with essentially what you need, a bed, a TV, refrigerator and microwave with coffee machine. Very simple. If traveling with kids, might not recommend. I had a small room and shared a bathroom with the adjoining room. But it was just for one night and my toddler and I left the following morning to get on the train so it wasn’t a big deal. Reminds me of a hostel. Very clean and customer service is very responsive. It’s self check-in with codes that they email you.
- 4/5
The Chelsea Inn was clean, easy to check in/out, and in a convenient location. I was nervous about the process but it was easy. Note you have to carry your bags up stairs and I had my own private bathroom.
- 4/5
Also wasn't aware that they couldn't hold luggage after 3 pm... I had to take all of my luggage to work with me on checkout day because I couldn't have come back to get it by 3.
- 4/5
Staff were very friendly and helpful when we had questions.
- 3/5
No elevators, AC only works seasonally. Front desk is staffed for only limited hours. Stay here because it is cheap.
- 4/5
Too cold. Couldn't adjust the heat.
- 4/5
Great location in NYC. Very close to subway stations. Check in procedure was straightforward. Staff at front desk during the day and were very helpful.Very clean. Very reasonable price point for NYC. Rooms however are small.
- 5/5
Great value and well situated
- 5/5
I stay here several times a year as my business has me in the city a fair amount. It's a perfect location in Chelsea, away from the high tourism of midtown, and close enough to the great hangouts in the Village. Convenient to major subway lines, and the staff is always super friendly.
- 5/5
Quaint little inn with a great location in the Chelsea neighborhood! Coffee shops, shopping, everything New York just steps away. Definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Great staying, will come back
- 1/5
I chose the room on Expedia. My credit card was cancelled by my bank for nefarious aactivity. The Chelsea Hotel then cancelled my reservation. They did not call me. I tried calling them and went through a phone tree that was not only not helpful but hung up on me three times. I tried to make a new reservation which was more than twice the original amount. I chose a different hotel.
- 3/5
Great location. Old property, but nicely maintained. Clear instructions of entry acess, and easy entry into the room. But shower drain was clogged and did not drain well.
- 5/5
This is great for a short stay. Rooms are small but cozy, and beds are stiff but sufficient. Sometimes all you need is a safe space to sleep for a night. Plenty of bodegas and restaurants around, so no concerns there. No elevator and front desk is only available for so many hours of the day. It was perfect for me.
- 5/5
Great find for future visits. I like the room and value!
- 5/5
No real issues here.
- 3/5
i forgot the ladies name in the front desk. but the hispanic woman was soooo kind ! and made my stay enjoyable
- 3/5
Share bathroom with other room, no elevator.
- 2/5
Booked a room for 3 people but the room was smaller than a dorm room for 2. The fold out bed was very uncomfortable and too short for a 5’7 person. The towel hanger was broken and the room was in general disrepair. There was a distinct smell of mildew and bleach causing an allergic response.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, affordable. Clean. Zero issues or concerns
- 5/5
Excellent location
- 5/5
Great location, rooms big enough for one person travelling for business
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay at the Chelsea Inn. Friendly staff, room was clean, confidently located. The only real downside was you could hear everything. People were so loud in the hallway. Which isn’t the hotels fault. People just have zero manners or consideration for others.
- 5/5
Easy to get to, easy to check in, if you get there early there is a cocktail bar right next door to spend some time.
- 5/5
The neighborhood is great. It was way quieter in the room than I expected. The room was nice, with good amenities. Would absolutely stay there again.
- 4/5
No bath towels only hand towels but everything else was perfect! Staff apologized and provided more hand towels.
- 4/5
Felt that the hotel management made it a lot more difficult than necessary by asking me to check in before arriving at the hotel, or even arriving in NY.
- 5/5
Great service !!!!
- 5/5
Quiet area with food options close by.
- 5/5
2nd time staying here and it's great
- 4/5
All good. Very good service when they are present
- 4/5
Floor was dirty and there is no lift but other than that it was a steal for the money
- 3/5
Clean room, Great location No elevator, broken toilet.
- 5/5
It was a great spot, yet I couldn't get the vent fan to turn off and the room was very cold. Ither then that I loved it and really enjoyed my stay. The front desk was very kind and generous. Thank you again for everything. Very easy and convenient. Great location
- 5/5
Check in was easy and location was quiet
- 4/5
Easy to transport to everywhere.
- 1/5
I had to rebook elsewhere. She said no refund, not even partial refund. Thanks a lot!
- 3/5
It was ok I guess..the floors and the shower could have used better cleaning and the thermostat seemed broken so I couldn’t drop the room temperature as I would have liked.
- 5/5
If you’re okay staying in a small room this place is absolutely wonderful. Everything was super clean. Very comfortable beds. We had 3 adult women in a room with a queen and sofa bed. Super helpful and friendly staff. I was a bit worried that the front desk wouldn’t be staffed 100% of the time but it was not an issue at all. Will absolutely stay here again.
- 4/5
Ideal location, convenient to subway
- 5/5
Great spot
- 2/5
No hay ascensor, baños compartidos y pésimo servicio al cliente. Lo único rescatable es la ubicación.
- 4/5
Very nice staff at the hotel! The property is great, but there is no lift. Btw, you can always rely on staff, they will help you to lift you luggage.
- 5/5
Everyone is so nice and helpful. This was a nice room with high ceilings, refrigerator and microwave. Close to metro and anything you need. I will stay here again.
- 4/5
The hotel is what you pay for. For the price (expensive but compared with other options one of the cheapest offers in Manhattan) it delivers. The rooms are a little bit tiny but really cute. The location is amazing. Overall I liked my stay a lot. The issues were that i found a cockroach on the bathroom and the fact that you don’t always have staff to help you at the deskfront is annoying.
- 4/5
Nice location a little noisy but overall I would stay there again !
- 5/5
Very easy check-in and check-out, and Wilma at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. We really appreciated her support and insights.
- 5/5
The only issue for some is there is no elevator. But it did not bother us. The staff helped carry the luggage up. May be an issue if you are a senior or have health issues. Our room was on the top floor. We will stay here again in the future. .
- 5/5
Lovely property very central. Just keep in mind you do share a bathroom with next door neighbor.
- 1/5
Firstly, I was on the second floor and there is no elevator so I had to carry my luggage up and down 20 steps. When I got to my room, I quickly realized that I didn’t have a bathroom as it turns out the bathroom was shared with another room. To make matters worse, there were two drawers in the room in the bottom one didn’t open. Last but not least, there was no window in the room, which is illegal in New York City.
- 5/5
The front desk staff were all friendly. The room was clean and neat. It was in the perfect location as well.
- 3/5
The staff are friendly and helpful. The building is old and rooms are small, but clean enough for just a few days of visit (no room service).
- 2/5
the bed sucked
- 5/5
This spot is a cute tiny place to rest your head and get cleaned up to head back out to visit NYC!
- 5/5
Second time staying here and love it! Perfect neighborhood and love the area!
- 1/5
I bet homeless people sleep better outside than you will on one of these beds. There’s no elevator either, and the front staff m is very rude and dismissive.
- 3/5
No customer service. Shower water pressure was weak in unit 403. No elevators. No new fresh towels or trash removal. Stayed for 3 nights. Good location though.
- 4/5
Well located. Well priced. Clean rooms & comfortable beds. Nothing fancy, but all one needs for a night in NYC.
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 2/5
good: access to transit, TV
- 2/5
Our room was small—even by NYC standards. The ventilation system ran constantly and was extremely loud. The AC leaked water on the floor, and the bathroom didn’t have any hand soap—nor did the desk in the lobby. Really poor imho.
- 5/5
Great place to land
- 5/5
Great hotel if you’re looking for something affordable and convenient
- 5/5
Excellent stay
- 5/5
Basic amenities/limited service but that’s all we want for a better price. Clean room, clean bed, clean bathroom, and safety.
- 4/5
good
- 4/5
Room is good if you just need someplace to sleep, nothing fancy and small. Needs updating but clean. I reserved a room with a private bathroom. The hotel staff didn’t engage but were pleasant enough when I spoke to them. There was a microwave and a small fridge in the room.
- 4/5
Room surfaces were clean, linens were dirty and stained, furniture was assembled wrong so side table kept falling down, ac was acceptable, check in and room access code was convenient and simple, bathroom was clean with nice shower/tub.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff that helped us out when we had any question
- 4/5
Budget stay decent for NYC
- 4/5
It's close to everything and secure.
- 5/5
If you’re looking for a spacious room, this isn’t it, but it’s also not the point. Who goes to NYC to hang out in their hotel? It’s perfect place to rest your bones, recharge, freshen up, etc. It’s also not without its charms. Not sure what purpose this building used to serve, but you can feel the history of this revived walk up.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 3/5
The hotel was very noisy, I had no hot water the last evening I was there and I got mixed messages regarding transportation to the airport.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Very convenient.
- 4/5
So for the most part I liked staying at Chelsea inn, beware NO ELEVATORS. After walking for so long and exploring the city having to walk up multiple flight of stairs was not fun. But other than that the property was nice small but nice had enough room what I needed, it was close enough to every thing. Also great communication from the employees !
- 5/5
Convenient location for food, shopping, trains...great place to stay when visiting New York Cit6
- 5/5
This is my second stay at The Chelsea Inn. I would highly recommend staying here. A delightful experience. Thank you.
- 5/5
Amazing value! Very comfortable and near everything.
- 4/5
I loved my room with a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Near subway and places to eat. But just not enough Kleenex and toiletries( look nasty to touch). I hope they individual portions toiletries or just clean the reusable containers really good. Good thing I bring my own toiletries. I would love to stay here again.
- 4/5
Great location.
- 4/5
1) replace broken blinds (the blinds in the room didn’t rise or fall and couldn’t be opened or closed) they were stuck down and partially opened. One section of the blinds was just broken off and not replaced. 2) get the window to be able to open - the window had no ability to stay open 3) clean the window - it was filthy 4) take the stickers off the cheap particleboard furniture they assembled that say “A” “B” “C” etc identifying the parts. This looks like the kind of cheap furniture you’d buy at target or ikea but the cabinet door was ripped off so you can see the hinges. It looks like garbage. Considering it’s $200/night, you can do better. 5) get some lighting bedside. You literally have to walk across the room to shut off the lights at night then stumble through the dark back to bed with maybe your phone light. Get a simple lamp on the night stand. 6) get some soaps etc in the bathroom that aren’t filthy. The containers for the shampoo / soap and hand soap were filthy on the exterior. 7) offer some cream or at the very least sugar for the coffee. It’s nice they have a coffee pot in the room. It wouldn’t be much to have sugar packs. Like I mentioned the overall place is a decent value for the location and what you get. But these are pretty minor adjustments that are not unreasonable to expect given how much your guests are paying.
- 5/5
Location was convenient to public transportation.
- 5/5
It was great, had all the essentials and was central
- 4/5
It's an apartment building converted into a hotel. The rooms are very cozy and the walk up could be challenging if you're lugging a large suitcase, but service is good, the room is clean and kept up well. Overall good value for $ (heads up if you're traveling for work and are relying on the Wifi, don't).
- 4/5
staff is friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
The Chelsea didn’t really feel like a hotel. It felt more like apartments that had been converted to hotel rooms. The condition and cleanliness of the room and bathroom weren’t great. The frame of my bed was broken. For the price I paid I definitely felt like it wasn’t worth it to stay there. The only good part was that the manager I texted with was very helpful.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Mold on ceiling of shower
- 4/5
This hotel is what you need! Perfect location! If you have back problems make sure you ask for a lower floor room and prep yourself regarding the bed, it is very hard. Besides that the cleaning staff are very nice and friendly. It has everything you need if you are planning on visiting NYC and not planning on staying in your room for too long.
- 4/5
It was overall clean and when I had a spill in my room, the janitor cleaned it up. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing I noticed was the vents in the AC looking pretty full.
- 5/5
It was a lovely place!
- 3/5
No frills, simple stay.
- 3/5
Such an amazing location! Staff could be more focused on making sure the basics are handled like clean rooms and bathrooms for their guests. Both were not turned over in between guests for us. It was way too lateafter a long day in NYC for us to complain.
- 3/5
Good stay, but was bot window in the room, which feels very uncomfortable.
- 3/5
stayed here
- 4/5
Excellent value!
- 5/5
Nice staff very Clean Quiet Area!
- 5/5
Chelsea Inn was a great option for our family trip to NYC. It was conveniently located near the subway line. It also had lots of options for dining at all times of the day. Rooms are on the smallish side but had a good size bathroom. The staff are amazing! Always friendly and willing to help with any question we had, the staff took great care to make sure we had everything we needed to have a great time on our trip. I highly recommend Chelsea Inn to anybody.
- 4/5
Second visit here. Great property that was super convenient. Staff is super nice and helpful. Great choice for a stay.
- 4/5
Convenient location
- 5/5
Everyone was incredibly polite and respectful!
- 5/5
Clean, simple, convenient
- 5/5
Part of the real neighborhood- much nicer feel than a commercial hotel. The modernization of the rooms is tastefully done.
- 4/5
Overall, the staying in Chelsea Inn was good. The location is very centered (nearby restaurants, MTA stations, etc.). I just didn’t liked when having an accident in the linen sheets, you don’t have a housekeeper to change it because they have the Policy about asking for housekeeping service the night before. I think it was an excellent quality-price relation.
- 4/5
Our stay was great at Chelsea Inn! Its access to the subway station and other amenities was great, very walkable! The staff were very helpful, and the various self-services were straightforward and easy to use throughout the stay. We did share a bathroom with another room that caused a few problems for us, so that is one aspect of the shared bathroom option that is not ideal (i.e. you don't know who you're going to be sharing with and they may not be clean or respectful of the space). Overall, the Chelsea Inn worked for our needs!
- 5/5
I felt very welcomed and the room I stayed was a room with a shared bathroom. I had no issues since I didn't run into the other guests in the bathroom. It was clean and available! My door code was reset at aome point but it was fixed immediately by the staff! Overall a great stay!
- 4/5
The staff were always so friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable. There was random hair throughout the room and bathroom, but overall it was fine. :)
- 4/5
Not very quiet, good air conditioning, no elevator and five floors!!
- 5/5
Our room was a bit tight, but good. It had everything we needed and the hotel was situated well for where we needed to be. We were happy with the amenities included (refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, iron & small ironing board). Coffee was available most times in the lobby. The staff we met were very nice and helpful. We appreciated very much the hotel responding to our request for a room on a lower floor as we are seniors and the hotel does not have an elevator. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience at The Chelsea Inn, and the price was a good value in this neighborhood.
- 4/5
I’ve never not liked a place, so maybe someone else would rate this place lower if they weren’t me. Besides it being pretty nice all around on the surface, there were two incidents that might alarm someone else. One was that the remote nature, the not always present hotel personnel, was a little more trouble when the electronic door lock wasn’t working consistently. The other was that we were in room 100 that was at street level with two windows opening to the street outside, and we discovered that one of the windows to the street didn’t even have a lock! This was at about midnight. I did fashion a barrier using the curtain rod I disassembled, and a hotel person did come in minutes to help when I called. We agreed that my barrier would work and he said engineering would come the next day to fix it. When we came back to the hotel after spending the next day out, sure as we were told, the window now had a locked lock and the curtains were re-established.
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 3/5
I liked the great location, the price, the basic look of the room, and the cleanliness of the Inn. What I didn't like is the way they've managed to engineer out any need for human interaction whatsoever. Everything is done via technology that is utterly soulless. You can't really have a "hospitality" industry without people.
- 5/5
Great stay. Nice staff!
- 5/5
Really clean and nice. Quiet place and cheap for a very centric location
- 1/5
Upon arrival, my room was covered in dust - not just surfaces, but the walls themselves were visibly dusty (I have photos to document this). This clearly indicated poor housekeeping standards and lack of proper maintenance. Unresponsive Staff: When I approached the front desk receptionist about changing rooms due to these conditions, she showed complete indifference and was unwilling to help resolve the situation. The lack of customer service was shocking. No Resolution from Management: My company sent a formal complaint via email regarding these issues, but we never received any response whatsoever. Don't be misled by any positive reviews you may see. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your accommodation needs.
- 2/5
The room was nice and well kept. But after being in there for only a few minutes the musky cologne smell was overpowering. I ended up having a bad reaction to it. They offered to switch me to another room on the same floor but I had limited time to chose as it was late and didn’t want to risk my breathing. So I ended up checking out shortly after I checked in. The front desk said just call about a possible partial refund since I hadn’t used the bed or towels (just one hand towel). I called and the woman was rude saying “You chose to leave so there’s no refund.” This was my first trip to NY so it was very disheartening to lose that much money on the first night. But I did not want to risk waking up and having to find a clinic bc I couldn’t breath well. If the strong smell hadn’t been there I would have stayed. Was very sad that was the case.
- 5/5
The room seemed recently updated, especially the bathroom. Very nice shower. Perfect size for one traveler. I've stayed in other budget friendly hotels in Manhattan, and this one has them beat hands down. Great location.
