Hotel 1200

Two of the most essential things you expect from a hotel are a decent night’s sleep and refreshing shower. Hotel 1200 failed on both counts. The subway running mere feet from our window made it difficult to fall asleep and woke up periodically. (Friends staying in the hotel had the same experience.) The shower itself was fine but the two tiny bath towels, placed in a slot under the sink, were both soaking wet. We were barely able to dry ourselves with hand towels.

Big room which was clean. Some repairs needed. Minor. Overall good. Amenities were minimal.

Nice hotel with good location and 5 minutes to train station. Hotel is right on the C train so it’s loud to sleep. With ear plugs and more than 1 night stay you get used to it.

The hotel smelled very musty and the carpets were too old. The curtains in the rooms were torn and needed replacing.

Our room was fine for our quick visit to Brooklyn. Main issue….no blanket on the bed or anywhere in the room. Just an odd top sheet like a duvet cover with no duvet.

We really liked how big the room was and the walk-in shower with built in soaps, body washes, and shampoo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping came everyday and did a great job as well! The price for 4 nights, 3 days was also extremely affordable for three people. The room was right by the train tracks so we could hear the trains going by but that's more of a location problem. We thought we could've been given more towels, especially face cloths.

The location was great, lots of stuff within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever I had a question. The room was comfortable and clean and they had free coffee in the lobby which was cool Everybody's said it, the subway. In my room, I was at eye level to the subway, so it was incredibly loud, so just keep that in mind. Some of the details of the hotel are a little worn and could do with some updates/minor repairs.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with cozy beds and convenient in-room amenities including a fridge and microwave. We also appreciated having water and ice machines right in the hallway — a small touch that made coming and going so much easier. The location is unbeatable. Steps from the metro station, with plenty of dining options nearby, and only 20–30 minutes to Manhattan. Getting to and from the airport was also a breeze. The surrounding area may feel a bit lively for first-time visitors, but we felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. The hotel was clean throughout, and the atmosphere was peaceful — no noise issues at all despite being so close to transit. What really stood out was the staff. They were friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating from start to finish. After arriving on a red-eye flight, they graciously offered us an early check-in and kept us updated on room availability throughout — that kind of attentiveness and thoughtfulness makes a real difference and is something we won’t forget. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to New York!

The first issue started before I even entered the room. One of the main reasons I selected this hotel was because of the photos shown online. The pictures presented the property as clean and well maintained. The room looked bright, polished, and inviting in the listing. Unfortunately, the actual room I received looked nothing like the photos. It felt outdated, worn down, and poorly maintained. The furniture and finishes looked older than advertised, and the overall condition of the room gave the impression that upkeep and attention to detail are not priorities at this property. I understand that professional photography is meant to showcase a hotel in the best possible light, but there is a difference between marketing and being misleading. Guests book rooms based on the expectation that what is advertised online reasonably reflects reality. Oh! And the bathroom sink had gnats, blood droplets on the mirror, the cleaning lady did not clean well!

I loved the patio and the lobby space. It was nice to have tea available at all hours. I also loved the location. We were not told about the earplugs and noise machine, which would have been very helpful since the train was right there. The bed also felt broken in the middle because it dipped in the middle.

The process to check in was easy, location was very convenient... as a New York native this hotel was great for the price and the location. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly, I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel gave me the true New York experience I felt like I was a New Yorker surrounded by good food and stores all around!! Every time I visit this will be my hotel of choice!!

They do supply body wash and shampoo in the shower, but no conditioner. I found that odd. Also, we had problems with our TV having no signal. I went to the front desk and the guy there said he would have someone come and take a look. They never showed... Overall, it worked out great for us. I would stay there again

We felt safe and clean at Hotel 1200, not a bad stay for the price. Close to the train so you can get in and out of the city easily. That being said the train is so loud in the room and it runs all night. Hotel shower curtain was not long enough so the floor was soaked after each shower, didn’t supply enough towels but they quickly brought some up when asked. AC worked and staff was really nice

I really liked this place. The staff were lovely and moved my room to a higher floor because I found my ground floor room a little noisy on a Saturday night. I was jet lagged and needed a quiet place! Room was spotless, bed comfortable, just what was needed while visiting family. Great value for money and location close to family.

Parking in the neighborhood was tight, but always found a spot within a block or two. Terrific in terms of train and bus access. Easy check-in/check-out and staff so nice. Enjoyed large screen TV and work space with light, as well as in-room fridge and microwave. Would have liked in-room coffee and better coffee offered in lobby, but those are small issues. We'll be back!

So disappointed with the customer service. After Spirit Airlines cancelled our trip, we were able to recover everything except for our hotel stay. We tried. Expedia tried on our behalf. The hotel refused to cooperate. Even with a weeks notice, they would not refund our stay. We travel to Brooklyn 9-10 times a year and we’re looking forward to this convenient location. We will never stay here.

This was a great location for us, not a far walk from where our daughter lives in Bushwick. The location was very convenient, right off the J train. We were glad our room was on the back side of the hotel because the train was right out front. But I do not know what the exact layout of the hotel is; perhaps none of the rooms look out onto the front. Thanks!

Stayed here early May. The staff was very nice, however the first night we noticed our shower was not very clean. There was hair and other things on the shower floor. We called and asked if they could have housecleaning just stop by and clean the shower, as everything else was ok. They said they would. When we got back that evening, the beds were made, and fresh towels were given but the shower didn’t look much different. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay.

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to give us some food recommendations. There is a great Peruvian spot right across the street from the hotel that the staff recommended. I’d stay here again

The room was a good size. It looked as if the room and hotel had been updated. Everything seemed clean and comfortable. I was able to set the AC to a temperature that was comfortable for me. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel was a few blocks from a subway station. There was a lot of noise from the subway.

I had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, they even extended my checkout time by an hour, which I really appreciated. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, though the bathroom felt a bit outdated. There wasn’t coffee in the room, but it was available in the lobby, which worked fine. The location is convenient, with plenty of shops and dining options nearby. One thing to note is that there is some noise from a nearby train track, but the upside is that the subway station is just a few minutes away, making it very easy to get around the city.

Nice room, lots of space, surprisingly good desk setup for a cheap hotel. Would stay here again. Worth being aware of noise from the subway, which passes extremely close by, but I didn't mind it too much.

No parking was available. We drive around until almost midnight looking for a spot. We had to pay for parking and took an Uber. Otherwise, it's a good hotel for a short trip.

Room was very clean! Close to a subway stop so easy to get to manhattan. Overall great stay; room is small but expected in NYC. if you’re a light sleeper I would suggest getting a room on the back of the building as the train is right out front and can be loud.

The staff was really friendly ! Unfortunately, the room was dirty. The bathroom had hair, countertops were not clean, towels had stains, the carpet had gum and walls were dirty. There was a group of people having a party in the hallway at 4:30 am. I hope they can fix these issues because the staff was really nice to us!

Fantastic Stay at Hotel 1200 ~ From the seamless check-in with Kayla to the end of my trip when George helped me weigh my luggage, the staff was truly top-notch. The hotel is "clean as a whistle," from the business center to the rooms. Speaking of the room, it was quite spacious for NYC and the bed was super comfy. Yes, you'll hear the occasional rumble of the trains, but that’s just part of the city experience. With such an accessible location, I’ll definitely be back!

Note: It is close to the subway/train tracks, which is very convenient, but a bit noisy. We always bring earplugs at hotels, so it didn’t bother us a bit. Overall a great experience! Will definitely stay there again.

When I arrived, the towels were dirty and had makeup all over them. The shower was also dirty with a black stain in it. No one had cleaned the bathroom or checked the condition of the towels before we arrived. I had to request for the shower to be cleaned and for the towels to be changed twice. When I asked to be moved to a different room, I was informed they were fully booked. Then, they tried to move me to a different room which was way smaller than I booked for so I had to stay in my current room. The staff was nice and accommodating but would not book here again.

MUCH nicer and newer than what I assume is their other hotel down the street (Hotel 1080) which I stayed at a few weeks prior.

The room was clean and the staff were professional but this hotel is being used for something other than an hotel. Also the door needed a door sweep, could see people walking the hallway all night long. Again, room was clean, AC was good and staff was pleasant plus professional.

The staff is very friendly and although Broadway is a little rough around the edges if has many convenient shops and restaurants and close to a subway stop. It would be nice to have a decaf option in the lobby and the TVs in the rooms didn't always function the best, but I will come back.

I had some family over and we occupied the lobby's seating/dining area for a few hours, having a meal and chatting. The lo ation was very convenient for my purpose to visit Brooklyn, I would recommend Hotel 1200 for your stay.

I always stay at Hotel 1200 when I am visiting my daughter in Brooklyn. It is clean, with lovely staff that is welcoming, kind and accommodating. It is located in a great spot with an AWESOME food truck that is setup right in front of the hotel. They offer a verity of food options all of which are really good. Plus, the pricing is great and they are there early in the morning and until really late into the evening. Lastly, the pricing of the rooms is great!

We stayed at this hotel due to being close to the funeral we were attending. We were stressed because of the funeral and then we had to add more to it. I had to do a second reservation because the first one was wrong. When we got there and we were looking for parking for an entire 1 hour and half. When making the reservation we were told that there was available parking if not a lot. Negative. Super ball Sunday we couldn’t get the TV to work the front desk staff came and did his best to fixed it. But couldn’t fixed it. The front desk personal were very nice and tried their best to assist us. I will not be staying there again.

The room and common areas were kept clean despite my stay coming immediately after the worst snowfall in recent years and below-freezing temperatures that kept the snow from melting. Staff were all courteous and helpful, declining tips in a couple of instances. My only criticisms are that on two of the mornings of my 3-day stay, the water for the shower was not very hot. Maybe the extremely cold weather was a factor?

Cons: it did often smell like weed in the lobby and other random areas, my heater wasn't working well so it dropped to 64 degrees in my room, and the property needs upkeep/updating. Pros: walkable area, close to the subway, nice staff, complimentary tea and coffee, and spacious rooms. Another guest triggered the fire alarm at 5am during my stay which was incredibly annoying but the management took care of it relatively quickly.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming offering flexible accommodations before and during your stay. The hotel is conveniently located and has many amenities to offer like coffee, teas, filtered water fountain, television and microwave amongst other things. The only inconvenience was that my rooms bathroom lock was broken so it couldn't lock or close properly as well as the room doors have too much space underneath and you can hear other guests talking loudly even at night. Overall I think this hotel is very convenient and comfortable for family vacations.

Shades were not in their track, this light got in. One window was drafty, cold air was being let in. The windows should be better noise canceling. Slept fine, but can see how the train and other street nose can keep you up. Overall the room was good, bed was comfortable, showers were hot, towels were plenty.

The room was spotless, quiet clean and great for a quick two day stay to see the New York City Christmas decorations. Edgy neighborhood but I'm from Brooklyn so no big deal to me. Half a block to the closest subway stop to take the train into Manhattan. Staff was alert and attentive. Great bargain compared to the overpriced Manhattan hotels.

We had a nice stay at this property. Its location is great for us. Our window did t seal properly so it was both noisier and colder than it needed to be, but once we rebooted the thermostat, at least one of those problems went away. If the location or price suits your needs, this hotel will work for you.

This is a very good, solid place to stay, convenient to the J train. There are coffee shops and an amazing bakery in the vicinity. People at the front desk were always pleasant and helpful. Room was plenty spacious and newly refurbished. There were light-blocking shades -- though it took some fiddling to get them into their tracks. The sounds from the nearby subway tracks soon become background "white noise" and didn't bother us at all. Overall, highly recommended!!

For improvement suggestions, if you see someone in the lobby waiting for the check-in time and you know that the room is already available it would be nice to offer to let the person check in early.

Our 6-day stay over Thanksgiving week was excellent! Friendly, clean, inviting, convenient. Ours was an ideal experience.

We were there visiting family for the holiday, mostly just a place to sleep. We would have liked to have some better coffee in the morning, but everything else was good. My husband appreciated the weight room, was able to get a couple workouts in. We stayed on the 1st floor and the subway noise was not an issue.

I had a great stay. The staff was welcoming, the lobby was clean and bright. The room was clean, spacious for a NY hotel, and the bed comfortable. The raised subway noise wasn't too bad, sort of muffled, so I was able to get to sleep easily and stay asleep. It was a great value for the price. I will come back whenever I need to stay in the area. FYI: There's no conditioner in the shower.

the room was very clean. the staff was available 24/7. they even held our bags for us because our flight was way after checkout time. so close to the train!! would def stay here again. rauhl was very helpful too.

Everything worked great. Located right next to the J line with easy access to Manhattan and JFK. The room had everything including a fridge and microwave. Used the gym twice. Raul and Fred were especially helpful.

This was a lovely hotel. It was also a very well located hotel for visiting my family who live in Brooklyn. It is literally steps from the J, which made it so convenient and helped me save lots of $$$ on taxis and other transportation. The manager was friendly and helpful, and when we requested to change our room d/t noise, she did it with no questions asked and the new room was perfect. It is on Broadway which is a busy street, however, we slept soundly and I felt safe walking around the neighborhood at night. Sancho Panza, a terrific restaurant, is an quick walk for a delicious dinner. Take a longer stroll and go have breakfast at Good Old Days diner in Bed Stuy. The lobby is bright and clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower had a rain shower head, we were glad we stayed there. Thank you!

Ok, so here is the deal. Its hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in NYC and i picked this place because of the price. When we pulled up to the hotel we were a bit worried. The neighbourhood looks a bit sketchy, but we never felt unsafe and the neighbourhood turned out to be one of our favorite parts. Its super close to the subway, which makes it a bit load but its in the city so its generally noisy. The rooms are good, no real ameneties, no blow dryer but there is a tasty food truck parked outside the front doors! THERE IS NO PARKING! YOU HAVE TO FIND A SPOT ON THE STREET! Which is challenging in itself. Rooms were clean staff was pleasant. We would stay here again!

Customer services was excellent, specially with Peter in the counter who was of a lot of help in searching places to eat, transportation and others. Also his kindness, all the hotel personnel was extraordinary.

It is an Ok place, unfortunately the rooms at the front are very noisy due to the metro.

Very convenient to subway. Room was clean and comfortable. I was on the first floor and it was pretty noisy from the street and trains. I was there was only one night so it was fine.

The room was clean and the staff was really accommodating, we needed an extra towel and blankets and they were given to us immediately.

We had a great stay here, the staff is very communicative and friendly, especially Rahul! Very close to the subway station, and several bodegas and food on the same block. A little loud because the train is so close but it didn’t bother me once I was inside the room. They also let you store your luggage if you arrive early or are waiting for your flight.

There was no coffee machine in the room but there was coffee available in the lobby. There are a few small cafes in the area for an inexpensive breakfast. Will definitely stay there again in the future.

My room was great, staff Peter was great upon my arrival, informing me of everything about the hotel, and Ruhul and Keyla assisted as I was departing.

Staff was very friendly, quick walk to the J train station. Nice sized rooms and bathroom, very clean! Train is right next to hotel so can be “loud” to light sleepers and I recommend ear plugs! Nice walkable area with plenty of places to grab food, coffee, or a quick snack!

The noise from the train is terrible at night. It never stops and I couldn’t get a rest while my stay here. It was terrible experience!

Fantastic new hotel, very clean with a good gym. Only a block from the subway stop. Neighborhood isn't the best but isn't the worst either and very convenient to get into Manhattan

Hotel 1200 was a very good property that provided a clean and comfortable room. Sadly, the property was adjacent to an elevated train system above Broadway that was very noisy when trains passed by the hotel. We would recommend requesting a room on the Van Buren Street side of the hotel.

If you like fleas you should stay here! A picture of fleas on the bed was shown to the Indian supervisor and he condescendingly said “we don’t have this here” after clearly looking at photos of fleas in the bed… No apology no let me switch you to another room.. There is a very spacious room they have to keep your luggage in before check in time. My friend arrived before me and she got to see that it was a big room. When I arrived the Indian supervisor kept hurrying me to give him my luggage so he can store it in the room. I said let me just get a couple of things out and I should be good to go. We left at 12pm in the afternoon to sight see and when we came back at 7pm both of our luggages were in the lobby!! I asked the front desk associate where the supervisor was and he said he had gone home. I said let him know I am very upset that both of our belongings were left in the lobby. He said he would be more than happy to let him know and that the boss is always on their case and leaves tons of work for them to do so that he has none. Clearly a distracted and not detail oriented supervisor. On checkout day the Indian supervisor saw me and you could tell he felt a little embarrassed. While a front desk associate was asking me questions to check out the Indian supervisor asked me “how was everything”. I jokingly said “everything was good but not my luggage being left in the lobby that’s not good.”

Just stayed one night. It was sufficient for a quick trip. The staff were friendly and professional and the room was clean.

The manager was nice but the evening staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. The hotel is in fact close to the train but also so close that it’s extremely loud. The condition of the place isn’t great - its worn down and while the shower and bed were clean, the rest of the place wasn’t.

Clean, comfortable room like one at the Holiday Inn it used to be. Rahul at the front desk gets tons of praise in other reviews and it's well deserved! He is exceptionally welcoming, professional, attentive & friendly. Be warned: if you get a room facing the subway tracks, you will frequently hear loud trains rumbling by at all hours of day & night. Weekend nights are a little quieter. Neighborhood has a gritty charm to it. Generally safe but you'll need to be okay with the grime, the trash & the noise. Very close to the subway station and tons of restaurants, delis, cafes close by. Sparse offerings at this hotel: wonderfully strong coffee offered every morning but with only subpar non-dairy creamer powder if you take yours with cream. 24-hour hot water available in the lobby with exactly one type of tea: Bigelow's Green tea. Great fitness room in the basement. Small microwave & bar fridge in rooms but no coffee maker. Also, we had to request a hairdryer and there was only trash can in the room.

The hotel itself was fine. The staff was polite and the room clean. The hotel sits right by the metro, so it can be loud along with other surrounding city sounds.

This hotel is missing some amenities that are a must for $300/night such as coffee maker in the room. Coffee is provided in the lobby but is undrinkable. From tea options they had only green tea, no black. Further the comforter between the sheets was so itchy that we had to take it out. I would not stay here for this price again.

This place is literally just a bed for the night. It’s noisy (next to a Trainline, fridge humming all night, some random beeping coming from a wall socket), and I was cold with the thinnest comforter that ever existed. Whacked on the heating and finally fell asleep after midnight. I would stay once, but not again.

This property was nice. It was a convenient location and meet up place with our son whom we were visiting. Access to the train was within a one block walk making it easy to check out other parts of the city. The only draw back was we had no wash cloths during our 4 night stay, so we had to use the hand towels instead. Even after housekeeping cleaned our room twice during our stay, we still had no wash cloths. Overall though it was a good property to stay at.

The staff at the property were very kind and helpful. The property itself mostly our room we were in was in need of some updating and deep cleaning. For the price we felt the hotel was a good value.

Pros: Very close to the metro stop, check in / out good. Free black only coffee in the morning. Grocery store near by. Mini refrig. Great shower temp & pressure. It was walking distance to friends. Cons: Area a bit sketchy at night I didn’t see any breakfast or other restaurants nearby except fast good & convince stores. Not a tourist area at all.

Picked this location to attend a wedding in Brooklyn. It was not the best area.

Very friendly and helpful staff and the hotel was clean and well kept. Really nice lobby area where you can work, meet with friends, or just relax. The rooms are not fancy but have everything you need. I was there for 1 night.

Tje staff was great. There was a great food truck that severed all types of food and was open early in the morning until late a night. It was in a great location and the rooms were clean and really cool.

Staff was incredible - everyone we met was so nice and welcoming. Room was clean and charming, but there was on odd, faint smell when laying in bed on the side closer to the bathroom (not enough to bother me, but enough to notice). Area around the property wasn't terrible, but a lot of noise and construction, which might just be how that area is. Would stay here again - convenient location, price worked well for us, and the friendly staff made the experience even better.

This is a good hotel stay. There was a staff member who worked the front desk who would take long times to complete requests. I asked for some towels on Saturday when I walked through the front on the way to my room, then an hour later I had to call down to follow up with my initial request. I called back a 2nd time about another hour later then finally he sent someone to drop off the towels. This was frustrating because I ended up missing my dinner reservation. On Sunday I requested new towels and toilet paper in person with the same guy at the front desk around 12 noon thinking at least it’s well before dinner time. I even took a nap woke up a couple hours later and still none of the items I requested showed up. I called down to the front desk the same guy answered saying someone would bring them up. An hour or so later I called back and reached a lovely lady I should have gotten her name because she said the items would arrive in 5 minutes and they did. Everyone other than the one chubby guy who delayed my requests was nice and I would recommend.

It’s a nice place

Hotel 1200 was just what we needed for our week in Brooklyn. The staff were friendly and helpful (shoutout to Raul and Peter!) The location was great for restaurants and shops and convenient for accessing public transportation all over Brooklyn and into Manhattan. The rooms were clean and comfortable and not too noisy, despite all the street activity and proximity to the elevated subway. The area around the hotel is a little funky, but we never felt unsafe, even coming back very late at night. We didn't use the fitness room but it looked nice. Especially for the price, we thought this was a great deal and will definitely return!

The facilities and room are very nice. However, the hotel is in front of the elevated train tracks, so it is very noisy every time that a train goes through and that goes on all night. Even if you are in the 6 floor.

Staff was wonderful and the room was perfectly cleaned. The area was not the greatest in terms of restaurants and such around but right off the J train and very convenient.

Everyone on staff was genuinely nice and accomodating. They let us check in early (for a fee) and check out a bit late. Raul was really kind and watched our bags after we cheked out, as we had time to kill before our flight home.

What a surprise! This unassuming hotel is walking distance from the beautiful art of Bedstuy (The Biggie Mural, Do The Right Thing Street, ODB mural, etc.). The staff is amazing as well, as Lordes recommended a wonderful restaurant and Peter gave some of the best front desk service I've had. I'll definitely look here again when I come back to BK.

The room was great. Staff were great. Would stay there again IF (big if) I could be guaranteed a room on the backside of the hotel. As other reviews mention, the frontside of the building was maybe 50ft from the train tracks for the subway. You will hear subway trains passing every 20-25mins. Other than that, everything with the stay was great.

Great location, the hotel is right next to the Kosciuszko St Station. The downside is the noise that you would hear if you are a light sleeper.

I was in town for a wedding. The check in and out was quick. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It is a quick half block walk to the subway which made getting to the train station easy. If you're a light sleeper, know that the subway can be heard from the hotel. Didn't bother me though. The reception desk personnel were friendly and helpful in calling cabs for me to get to the wedding events.

I stayed for one night and had a good experience. The property was clean throughout, including the room and beds, which were spotless and stain-free. The mattress were comfortable, and I had no issues during my stay. The location is also a big plus — just a short walk from the subway, making it very convenient for commuting.

First night desk clerk was personable and very helpful. She was able to answer any question in a friendly and thorough manner about the hotel and the neighborhood. Subsequent coverage were business like and fine. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, fridge was cold. As mentioned in other reviews the subway is very close and creates some noise pollution and you can hear some of the other patrons, I just left my TV on as white noise. Price was decent. Microwave needs to be replaced has been way overused and has missing plastic inside when you open the door.

This stay was great. My flight got cancelled so I need to find something quick. This was a great option. It was clean smells good and beds were comfortable. I will warn you the subway is right outside your window so if your a light sleeper I would ask for a room on the sides or towards the back. There is a Dominican restaurant a block down by the subway station which was delicious!!!! And a neighborhood coin laundry 5 blocks behind the hotel with the nices staff I have meet. Great place!

The worst part of this hotel is its location—it's situated right next to an overhead rail track, literally just a couple of meters away. Trains run day and night, which can be very noisy. The surrounding area is crowded and, to some extent, may feel unsafe.

We didn’t get to sleep past 7am because of construction on the street outside and literal constant beeping of machines. I normally wake up at 6am, but this was a Sunday morning and I had come into the city for a late night event. The train being outside of the window wasn’t a problem whatsoever, just the constant beeping. We could even hear it through earplugs. They could have booked our room on the opposite side of the hotel as a courtesy or made us aware of this beforehand but didn’t. Screw these people and their crappy hotel. Awful experience!
