The Lowell Hotel is consistently praised for its exceptional staff, who are described as friendly, helpful, and professional. The hotel's location, decor, and amenities are also frequently complimented. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the size and condition of the rooms, as well as occasional issues with noise and maintenance.

Best hotel best services kindest staff and best location.
- 5/5
This is one of the nicest hotels in our experience. The room had a real fireplace which we used during a major snowstorm — wonderful!
- 5/5
Very friendly, excellent service and some extras

This hotel is without doubt the very best hotel in New York! Beautiful rooms, perfect location wonderful staff…what more can one ask!
- 4/5
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Lowell hotel in the upper east side. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the staff was warm and welcoming and very friendly. Couple of areas of concern: construction project at the hotel began in Ernest the first morning after our arrival at 8 AM. No warning to guests, just hammering and drilling noises coming right outside of our room, although I learned later they were happening on the floor below. I did mention this to the front desk staff and they discounted one night at 50%. I was grateful for the concession, but I would've preferred knowing that this was happening either at arrival or pre-arrival to prepare my schedule and activities accordingly. Also, dinner at Majorelle, which was absolutely outstanding, suffered from very slow service as did breakfast each morning in the hotel, not something unexpected for the caliber and quality of this hotel. While we're talking about breakfast please note that the prices are very high - $55 for 2 eggs, coffee & toast. Normally I wouldn't bat an eye at high prices for a meal at a hotel of this quality, but it boggles my mind that two eggs, a couple of pieces of toast, some bacon and a cup of coffee will run you half of $100... If you booked breakfast as part of your room rate, you will get a credit to help defray but not completely cover the meal. The location of the hotel is terrific and a short walk to Central Park and amazing shopping.

Fabulous!

What a fine and refined hotel. Thank you.
- 5/5
The Lowell is definitely one of our top three NYC Hotels. Love everything about this property. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional. Love the bar. Majorelle is THE prettiest dining room in the city. Plus the food is delicious.

This hotel is stellar….in every possible or imaginable way. From the moment you enter, to the friendly staff who remember to address you by name, to the suite decor (oh the books!), mini kitchen filled with every possible item you’d want including by not limited to fresh lemons and limes. The bath was sublime & spacious, and the bedding so soft and cozy. I’m hooked. Hotels on The Upper East Side take note! The Lowell is my forever home away from home!

Excellent experience

My wife and I have stayed at many fine hotels in Manhattan over the years, but the Lowell may just be the best of them all! This was our first stay there and everything was perfect...and I mean everything. Every staff member we encountered was professional, courteous and very attentive to our needs. The hotel is well located and in tip top shape! We will return and highly recommend a stay at the Lowell!

First class hotel with a really attentive staff. Stayed four nights and loved it!
- 5/5
A perfect boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful and private. Great service and luxurious accommodations.

For a five star hotel…????
- 5/5
The Lowell is a delightful small hotel with excellent amenities and a great location. There are comfortable areas for sitting and relaxing, which is an added bonus. The staff is courteous and responsive.
- 5/5
The real reasons to stay here, however, are the staff. Every single worker, from the front desk to the room caretakers seem to enjoy being helpful. In my opinion, this trait is something that cannot be taught. These folks are genuinely nice, and competent. NYC is deservedly renowned for fine hotels, but personally, I would never stay anywhere else. The Lowell is like a second home to me, only better…
- 5/5
The only issue I had was with reserving the room. I was under the impression with the reservation I made that I would have a room with a terrace (after seeing an option for terrace or fireplace), but I was given a room without the terrace or fireplace. Can’t say if it was the issue of the hotel or this website, but it was disappointing either way.

Enjoyed immensely

Staff were polite and attentive
- 5/5
The Lowell is the epitome of a fine hotel. It surpasses everywhere else I’ve ever stayed.
- 5/5
I used to live on the UES and it was nice to walk out the door and feel like you were in a neighborhood and not slammed with tourists and such, but so much is walking distance. Made me fall in love with NYC all over again.
- 5/5
The Lowell has it all, but your rating system does not emphasize the most important Ingredient of all: people. I have stayed in many, many fine hotels in the states and in Europe, but never, repeat, NEVER met a finer, more competent, caring, and most certainly, genuinely friendlier staff in any of them. As anyone who has visited Manhattan knows, whatever one wishes can be found there, but it is the staff at the Lowell that made my visit the most unforgettable five days that I have ever experienced.
- 4/5
I love the Lowell hotel. The people are amazing. The service was excellent. The breakfast was excellent although full disclosure, I only had fresh fruit, but it was very good. I love the chocolates in the lobby. The location is fantasric and the size of my bathroom was fabulous. Housekeeping was fabulous. Everything was great. My only wish is that they get down comforters on their beds. I don’t know why this is so difficult for hotels but I just want a down comforter. It was almost $1000 a night I feel like that warrants a down comforter outside of that absolutely wonderful..

Couldn’t be happier.

Beautiful hotel. Great service. Lovely rooms.
- 5/5
Loved it! Staff were incredibly gracious. Beautiful boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Best service and beautiful hotel in United state
- 5/5
Beautiful all around. Extraordinarily helpful staff.
- 5/5
This week was my second stay at this beautiful and elegant hotel, and it was wonderful. Everything was absolute perfection. The entire staff (including Emelie at the front desk) was incredibly gracious and helpful in every way possible. My accommodations were lovely and exactly what you would expect from the #1 hotel in NYC. Be sure to dine at the hotel's restaurant, Majorelle. Jacques is most charming and gracious (as is Guillame) and the food is the very best you will find in NYC. Does all of this come at a price? Yes. But, in my opinion, it is well worth it. My highest praise and highest recommendation for this exceptional hotel.
- 4/5
The Lowell is a beautiful, well kept facility that treats you like royalty. Overall the place is spotless, beautifully decorated and luxurious. The only reason for my less than perfect rating was that we found that one if the towels had make-up on it presumably from the past occupant. When we notified the staff they not only profusely apologized, but changed out all of the linens immediately. We will absolutely stay there again in the future.
- 5/5
Very quite, clean, and welcoming. A little disappointed the Club Room was closed for private events 2 nights and the bar was packed so there was no where to sit with a drink before dinner.
- 5/5
The service was outstsnding
- 5/5
This is a wonderful hotel and we will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
This hotel was beautiful. Comfortable & quaint. I expected a smaller space for NYC but was pleasantly surprised with the room size. The staff was so courteous & polite.
- 5/5
Charming, beautiful , lovely best boutique hotel, we love it and always stay there every time in New York. Nice bedding and towels, clean and best service in NYC

- 5/5
They treat you like VIPs. Tastefully decorated rooms, magnificent restaurant, and the general atmosphere makes it feel like a pied-a-terre designed all for you.
- 5/5
Excellent staff Charming We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lowell We will definitely return
- 5/5
Small, unique, and beautiful property. Enjoyed our stay. The staff is helpful, courteous and professional.
- 4/5
The rooms are lovely, but damage to walls/floors is starting to show. Maybe a little refreshing is due, because the place is enjoyed so well. Staff is always top notch and helpful!
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent service, great rooms and a nice, relaxing bar. Out of the fray and comfortable. Just what I want when I am in New York.
- 5/5
The overall ambience is quiet and calm; the flowers and fragrance through out the hotel give one a sense of luxury and beauty.
- 4/5
Our first night we were put in a room that had a large AC unit right beside the bed. I was up most of the night as it went on and off. We asked to move the next night and were accommodated. I did get the impression we were initially given one of the worst rooms, although it was over $800 and not the entry level room choice.
- 5/5
This is the place to stay. Look no further. Superb hotel, staff, food and lounge. Nothing finer.
- 5/5
Great! Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely do back!
- 5/5
The Lowell is so nice! The staff is great and the rooms are beautiful
- 3/5
the hotel needs to update rooms and bathrooms. would be nice to have a coffee station available in the morning
- 4/5
A taste of Avenue Montaigne without the jet lag. Always feels like coming home at the Lowell.
- 5/5
Small, comfortable hotel. Service was perfect. Restaurant and Bar were absolutely top notch. So much nicer than big busy hotels where you have to wait in line for the concierge! My teenage kids thought it was too small, but it worked for me! Only negative comment is that perhaps a recent fire left the hallway smelling of smoke - or something.
- 5/5
Most incredible hotel. One of my favorites in NYC for sure. Beautifully decorated. Great bar, lounge area , fireplaces, and gorgeous lobby. The staff was incredible !!!!
- 5/5
I arrived in the midst of a downpour to find solace, warmth and friendship at The Lowell. The room was so comfortable. The food was spectacular. The service was unparalleled. I will be back again.
- 5/5
Have stayed several times. Always enjoyable place to stay.
- 5/5
We stayed at The Lowel Hotel for our 4th wedding anniversary, first time and not the last. This hotel is superb, the staff extraordinary, the location magical! We loved every second spent! Highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
It is lovely, quiet, the staff couldn’t be nicer The food is really excellent from breakfast to afternoon tea and night time snack The location for me is excellent
- 5/5
Amazing service, accommodations, everything. THE BEST.
- 5/5
The Lowell is perfect in every way. You cannot go wrong.
- 5/5
Great device - Room was a little small - overall great experience
- 4/5
Since its an old building, there’s also some problems with the hardware. There was no heating system of any kind in the bathroom and we had to ask them to bring one from outside because New York is freezing in February. The electricity also stopped working in one of the rooms at one point. These are the type of problems that should not be happening when you stay at a 5 star hotel charging at this price range.
- 5/5
The Lowell is the only place I care to stay when in NYC. Nothing compares to it.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay for New Year’s Eve. We enjoyed New Year’s Eve in Majorelle!

The staff, room, fitness room, etc. were perfect. We would never stay at another NY hotel.
- 5/5
Service at the Lowell is top notch. The staff personally recognized me from the start on my first visit and really did their best on every front-- making everything easy on several occasions. Wonderful hotel and staff. Only odd thing was the low sink in bathroom. Look forward to visiting again.
- 3/5
The hotel location is good but always you see a lot of un collected garbage out side in the hotel entrance
- 5/5
Our second time staying at this fabulous hotel and was even more impressed the second time around. Awesome impeccable service and accommodations!! We absolutely love this hotel and will definitely be back again !!
