Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with some guests expressing satisfaction with their stay and others expressing significant dissatisfaction. Common themes among the negative reviews include issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service.
- Convenient location
- Friendly staff
- Cleanliness issues
- Poor maintenance and upkeep

Clean, comfortable, ideal location for airport, reasonable prices, close to shopping and food. We would stay again.

The entire property is run down. The staff was very friendly and helpful but that’s the only thing going for this location. We were there for two nights. Our AC was checked twice because it wouldn’t get below 76 in the room. Both times they said cold air was coming out and there was nothing they could do. Sleeping in a hot room and waking up drenched in sweat is not my idea of ok! Do not recommend at all, and I NEVER leave reviews of any kind.

I didn’t like anything about the property. It wasn’t the property that I picked off of booking. I didn’t like the beds. It felt like I was sleeping on a brick as you advertised in the ad about the hotel. You stated that they had bathtubs and jet tubs, and that was not true. my wife is disabled and it’s not able to stand very long and that’s why when I seen the booking for the room originally in the beginning stated it had a bathtub and a jet tub and when I got there, they told me that none of their rooms have that so the room was falsely advertised and I never would’ve paid that amount of money for what I got. The bed felt like I was sleeping on a brick. The pillows were extremely flat.

I loved the location! And it smelled good and was clean. I did not like that they did not have toilet paper to give me. They said they had run out.

Aloft is an old rundown hotel they tried to slap some paint on and some plywood to make look fancy but missed the bar

i didn’t eat the breakfast on my first night there i went down and talked to amber and told them how my bathroom door wouldn’t close and how the toilet didn’t flush properly. you literally had to let the toilet sit after using it so the bowl could fill with water. work orders were put into was supposed to be fixed saturday when i was out of the room. well they wasn’t so you had to use the bathroom with the damn door open. When i checked out sunday i told the front desk lady about it and how nothing was ever done well she said she was gonna to refund me for a night and it never happened. My husband has worked in the hotel industry for 18 years as a facility director he was very disappointed especially bc they both were an easy fix that could have been done in 10 mins.

Front desk staff was very helpful, housekeeping was on the ball and very pleasant. Housekeeping supervisors were in the ball to be sure everything was ready for guests.

The mattress had deep stains that were hidden by the sheets. The bathroom door was missing a cover that exposed a dry adhesive. It was scratchy and seemed unsafe.

Location was really convenient and it was very clean and updated The bed was really hard and gave me a stiff neck

Walking in was a beautiful setting. The pool table, bar, seats, fireplace, and big tv. And a good view of the indoor pool. It’s great for family’s and couples Needs a breakfast bar. Most places have a small continental breakfast. Like we added on the empty space underneath the TV near the fireplace. And it should come with the room.

Ms. Emani took care of us at the bar.

The room itself felt very stuffy and damp, and it triggered my allergies. I later realized the hotel is pet-friendly, which I wasn’t informed about beforehand. While I love animals, this can be an issue for guests with allergies. It would be helpful if the hotel designated specific rooms or areas for guests with pets and separate ones for those without, to avoid discomfort from pet hair or allergens. Additionally, the property seems outdated and in need of renovation. The ceiling, in particular, gave the room an unwelcoming feel. Considering the cost of the stay, I expected a much better experience. Overall, there is definitely room for improvement.

Limited staff means you’ll be waiting for someone to staff the front desk. Needed to use a dryer, there’s only 1, and it’s non-functioning. Room was just fine, one of the light fixtures didn’t work so the room was fairly dark unless you turn on a bright light in the headboard that projects upward. Couldn’t find an ice machine so needed to ask the bar for ice (which of course they provided).

Everything good but over 1 week later still have not received back the funds held for incidentals.
- 3/5
It's clean and modern. There isn't an outdoor pool or free continental breakfast. The staff at the desk seems to dress without uniform so you're unsure if they work there. Amber was excellent though and helped fix my bathroom door very promptly. The patio was very comfy. This hotel is close to a very nice mall. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs because of the jets, loud cars, and loud people in the hallways late at night. Affordable price!
- 2/5
Our room smelled like stale cigs. I am pretty sure our bed had bed bugs - I woke up with weird looking red bites. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Airport shuttle ready and waiting at 6 am. Pool was pretty, warm and clean! The room was clean and cute! The staff was very friendly, personable and helpful. Didn’t have ice on room floors would be my only complaint. Did offer to bring some to the room though

Very spacious, clean, an amenity filled hotel/room. Would definitely stay here again. Staff was solid, easy trip into Charleston. All good things.

We drove four hours to check in and had the reservation booked for weeks since we were going to a concert nearby, the front desk informed me at check in that our room was cancelled. We checked in at 630pm and the front desk said the hotel overbooked and our room was cancelled. They had sent me an email at 6pm that day saying the booking was cancelled. I had booked it weeks prior because it was near the venue where I had tickets to a concert. The Aloft front desk did not seem to be sorry about this huge inconvenience and did not offer any help. I had to rebook a hotel in a different location completely and spend almost $400. When I contacted hotel.com they said they could only offer me $25 credit! That is nothing as they should of paid for my last minute booking. DO NOT BOOK YOUR ROOM THINKING IT IS A GUARANTEED THROUGH HOTELS.COM. I WAS TOLD USING A THIRD PARTY IS WHY THEY GIVE UP ROOMS WHEN THEY ARE OVERBOOKED BECAUSE BOOKING THROUGH THE HOTEL DIRECTLY IS YOUR SAFEST OPTION.
- 2/5
Bathroom son faucet completely broken, no soap in dispenser, rooms designed strangely, cheaps looks for $228+tax for 2 adults. Besides that the staff was excellent.
- 5/5
The only thing that was horrible were the airplanes flying directly overhead
- 5/5
We returned to the Charleston airport and called for the shuttle and he arrived in about 10 minutes, it was very convenient
- 3/5
It was a big bummer that the airport shuttle didn’t run late into the night (huge part of why I choose the hotel and ended up having to pay for an Uber) and the room smelled like sweaty socks
- 5/5
Stayed for two nights great experience

- 1/5
No good breakfast. What ever you can get out there lil coolers for breakfast. It sucks, for it to be a beautiful hotel .
- 2/5
Our shower head was broken and the iron messed up one a dresss
- 1/5
Room located on 2nd floor by the noisiest elevator I’ve ever encountered. There were 2 elevators and the one with 2 doors was LOUD and ran all evening. Coffee in room was replenished with decaf instead of regular. ZERO USB ports for charging phone. It’s 2026. Coffee in lobby was empty twice in the morning during my four day stay. Mattress terribly uncomfortable. Refrigerator in room frozen coils. Too much parking reserved for “hybrid” vehicles making for long walks and difficult parking. Television picture terribly low quality. No clock in the room. It’s just not a good hotel for more than a one night stay.
- 5/5
Room was great, shower was the best I’ve had in a normal hotel ever. People complain about the airplanes but I love them.

- 5/5
The staff are phenomenal!
- 2/5
The room was clean, toiletries were very good amenities were well kept! Bed comfort was average! But my biggest complaint was Staff was not welcoming when checking in almost made you feel like you were in inconvenience and the room had this odd windows from the shower to bed area and despite the film you could still see throw. Not idea for anything other then a king suite
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay for a week. The staff is excellent. The amenities are great. Convenient location. Clean rooms. My only drawback was that the breakfast was kind of expensive. For such a nice hotel you would think it would have a continental breakfast bar.
- 5/5
Amazing staff, great location, clean rooms combined with a reasonable rate make A-Loft North Charleston an excellent choice for your travel needs!

DO NOT STAY HERE! This was our worst hotel experience ever with a Marriott Hotel. We checked in late on a Sunday evening for 2 nights. When we opened the hotel room door we noticed immediately that the toilet seat was up, there was urine on the back of the toilet and the shower tile and grout was filthy. Because of our late arrival we waited to talk with the front desk in the morning. The clerk at the front desk took our phone number and assured us that the head of housekeeping would reach out to us. While we were talking to the clerk, the head of housekeeping came out and we shared our concerns with her about the condition of the room. She assured us that the matter would be taken care of that day. I expressed that we never experienced a Marriott Hotel in such bad condition. When we arrived back at the hotel late Monday evening the room was untouched...bathroom towels still on the floor, toilet still dirty and shower disgusting, bed unmade, floors still dirty. We complained to the front desk and they said we would have to come downstairs to get fresh towels and that there was no manager on duty until the morning. We had an early flight and had to leave the hotel at 5:15 am, but left our phone number at the front desk requesting a call from the Hotel Manager. We never received a call. When we tried calling the phone calls did not go through. I have followed up with Marriott Customer service and filed a case as I am sure Marriott would follow-up on this situation.

The staff was super polite and helpful and the room was spotless. It was a fantastic stay.
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
The staff was excellent and super kind. We stayed close to the airport for convenience and location is perfect for that, and parking was free. However, our room was less than average. The toilet wasn’t flushing so we had issues the first night. The sliding door was a mirror that was cracked in a couple places so we were worried it would break. The back edge was peeling off and it fell off its track so we couldn’t even close it. The room was otherwise clean but having a broken bathroom is frustrating.
- 2/5
Room smelled bad and the hotel bar was out of ingredients to make drinks
- 4/5
Nice room
- 5/5
The room, setup of the lobby, pool, bar and just a great atmosphere plus great location. The staff was great as well.
- 5/5
Extremely convenient from the airport.
- 5/5
Super pet friendly!
- 4/5
Toilet is inside the shower and everything gets wet
- 5/5
nice room nice lobby helpful staff. Quiet patrons & environs.
- 5/5
Great for a quick stay before an early morning flight.
- 3/5
Noisy from adjoining room and being super close to airport but that was also a benefit for flying early. Not a traditional hotel room, more industrial. Bathroom dark, no shelving in shower for anything, just a weird setup overall.
- 2/5
Was in town for concert. Have stayed at Alofts numerous times. This location by far is the absolute worst one I have ever encountered. The site should be bulldozed. Location is convenient to airport and shopping. That is all it has going for it.
- 5/5
Staff were great on a late arrival. Airport transfer was helpful too.
- 3/5
When we checked in the manager was very kind. When we got upstairs the hallway smelt terrible and we realized the hotel was not as nice as it looked online. The ceilings are unfinished and everything just looks old and crusty for lack of better word. When we got to our room we were very grossed out. The carpet was soaking wet, there was a hole in the ceiling, the bathroom floors just look dirty and like the grout has never been cleaned, there was water damage/mold on the bathroom ceiling, both bathroom mirrors were cracked, and it smelt absolutely AWFUL (likely from the wet carpet). We tried to see if we could get a refund but we were unable to. We didn’t check in until almost 1am so we decided we would sleep in the room that night since it was late but would ask for a different room the next day. The next day we explained our concerns to a staff member and we were able to get our room switched over thankfully. There were other guests also complaining of wet carpet. The second room was much cleaner but still is not a room I would pay to stay in again. The mini fridge in our second room had a puddle of water in it and a light was out in the bathroom so it was dark. Also, both rooms TVs didn’t work well and didn’t have many channel options. The staff at the bar were friendly and we enjoyed playing pool in the lobby and hanging out outside playing with the games provided. Not a horrible place to stay but definitely not what we were expecting cleanliness/niceness wise.
- 5/5
Perfect location for shopping and dining. Centrally located for beach days and golf days. Uber to downtown was reasonable. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 4/5
The staff was very nice and welcoming. However, I had to request my room be cleaned after two days and when it finally was, I discovered the sheets were not changed and only the bed was made. This was disappointing because I expected to slip into fresh sheets after a shower.
- 5/5
Room was really clean and very cute. Would recommend putting ice machine on each floor
- 5/5
Great Experience! Nice staff, clean and welcoming rooms and amenities. Great Location!
- 5/5
My husband and I throughly appreciate the great customer service with every single staff member at the hotel. Everyone was so nice and extremely helpful. This hotel is in the perfect location. We will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Great location, great staff. Booked an accessible room. Maybe it's me but I'm used to the shower head reaching all the way to the seated shower chair..usually they are extra long. Maybe I'm incorrect? Other than that , im booked again to come back.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay
- 1/5
We have stayed at this property on at least six occasions. The problem is that we have noted the hotel is frequented by your typical marijuana users. Got off the elevator to go to my room and the weed smell was just hanging in the air. Not to mention the hotel was evacuated at 1 am due to someone smoking weed in the lobby restroom triggering the smoke alarm. Not a pleasant stay at all.
- 5/5
Great stay! Clean, convenient, trendy and safe!
- 4/5
The door to the bathroom, as is common at this location, was broken off its tracks and could not be rolled closed. Some outlets were twisted and could not be used. Staff member asked me how long I had been waiting, and then implied that I was lying about how long she’d been away from the front desk when I answered. Staff was otherwise courteous. Room was otherwise in good condition. Bed was very comfortable.
- 2/5
The toilet seat was not clean. The bathroom floor was dirty. The shower was horrible, shower head hardly worked and there were ants a couple of them bit my child.
- 5/5
Great accommodations
- 5/5
I always enjoy staying at the aloft
- 1/5
Do not stay here. Way overpriced, exposed wires in hallway. Room was filthy, smelled like rubbing alcohol, stains on carpet, broken mirror.
- 1/5
The fire alarm went on in the middle of the night, we had to evacuate, the elevator has broken all weekend, we had to go up and down stairs all the time, the pool was super dirty
- 2/5
Downside.....To start, rooms are in need of an update. Not necessarily dirty per se but definitely worn in. Broken fixtures, grout loose from shower, blinds that half open, ceiling that looks like it was repaired (poorly), paint that needs an update. We had no TV usage for our entire weekend as the satellite was knocked off line during a recent storm (front desk attendant said repair guys would not be out until after Monday). So no TV. The really serious issue we encountered was our shower. There was no cold water or even a nice medium.... it was blistering HOT. Could not take a shower. We were switched to another room and it was a little more bearable but still very, very hot. Terrible. Upside..... again great location (for concerts at Civic center), safe, clean property, plenty of parking, the staff adjusted my bill to account for my displeasure at the shower and TV debacle.
- 2/5
We stayed from Friday-Sunday. The elevators were out of services more than 1/2 of our stay. Now I don’t mind stairs but when you’re having to bring luggage from the top floor it’s a pain. The bed was not comfortable at all. Probably one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve slept in. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel appeared pretty clean .
- 2/5
One day I didn’t have running water due to a pipe burst I was locked out my room another day due to them fixing the key pads. Fire alarms randomly going off at 12am my last day the elevators were out of service
- 2/5
This was a horrible stay. I did not expect that from Aloft. Immediately noticed filthy shower. Comforter had blood stains. The coffee machine was dirty. The Kleenex box was empty decorated to appear full. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night after 1 am took over 30 mins to stop. Elevators went down for the day. The air conditioner leaks onto the carpet creating a huge puddle.
- 3/5
Checked in 10 pm, didn't notice toilet wasn't flushing properly. Had to get a plunger @ 4 am and had to use lobby bathroom until check out. Soap dispenser in shower was empty
- 1/5
My room wasn’t up to standard
- 2/5
Mattress old lumpy roaches in
- 3/5
The hotel wasn’t terrible but could’ve been better. There was only one working elevator. The back doors near the dog area were broken so we had to walk all the way around to the front entrance to come back in. The AC in the room didn’t work properly and the room was often hot.
- 2/5
First, the location—directly across from Topgolf—meant that the room was flooded with lights and noise into the night. If you’re looking for a restful stay, this is not the place. One of the most unsettling parts of the experience was that you could not access the rooms from the lobby via stairs—only by elevator. For someone with a fear of elevators or anxiety about being confined, this setup is extremely limiting and uncomfortable. The room layout itself was awkward and disorienting. The headboard of the bed faced the entrance, which made the space feel unwelcoming and poorly designed. To make matters worse, our bathroom didn’t have any toilet paper when we arrived, which is a basic expectation in any hotel. The ceiling also appeared to be under mid-repair or damaged, adding to the overall sense of neglect. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and design. I would not recommend this hotel to others and will not be returning
- 1/5
Tried to take a shower…the water in the shower was scalding hot. Neither my daughter nor me could use the shower. I went to the front desk twice and was assured someone would be coming to fix this. No one came… I had to catch an early flight without any resolution.
- 4/5
Good Location, airport accessible literally 5min drive, diner across the street, close to shopping area.

- 2/5
Our family liked this property but we just had a weird night when someone tried to enter our room and this time it was only my daughter and I so North Charleston is not the safest place to stay so we may need to choose other areas even causes longer drives when we visit our son
- 2/5
Also the shower water control handle came off in my hand, the air conditioner made an awful noise when coming on, the deadbolt could not be locked on the room door. There was a swing over knob lock for the door, but it required pushing against the door extremely hard.
- 2/5
The front desk staff and the bartender were friendly, attentive and well informed. But the hotel itself is very poorly managed. When we first arrived we walked into a room with two large cracks across a heavy sliding mirrored door; the safe didn't work; ceiling panels looked as they were ready to cave in. They moved us to a slightly better room with similar issues broken safe, ceiling tile cracking through the plaster; the phone didn't function; rust in the shower and on a commode that didn't flush because the flap was too old. To make matters worst there was no room service for two days. The cleaning staff was working from the time I left for my business (6:50 am) to until I returned (8:00 pm) and still my room was not touched. Even the lobby bathroom was poorly stocked. The front desk did what they could to provided new linen, but clearly it wasn't enough. I reported this to both the hotel and Expedia. We are waiting for an answer.

- 3/5
The breakfast basically cold cereal.
- 3/5
It was an okay experience this time. In my previous experiences staying at this location I did enjoy it better.
- 3/5
No amenities. Pool was closed
- 2/5
The Aloft hotels seem inconsistent, some are great, this one was not. We were given an ADA room, the shower pressure was very low, the bathroom supplies were not stocked, many scratches, dents and holes in the walls. The carpet was dirty and dusty and the bed smelled of cigarettes. Would not stay again.
- 5/5
Would stay there again. Reminded me of the Moxy hotels
- 5/5
Didn’t have all the bells and whistles but it had everything we needed
- 5/5
Bar, indoor pool and convenience to close by stores.
- 3/5
Biggest issue - have to run water for over 10 minutes or more to get some what warmish water for a shower and shower pressure super low. No matter what time of the day
- 1/5
Not so good there was people smoking on our floor mariguana and it penetrated our room we couldnt sleep at i called front desk and they said they knew about it but they didnt do anything about it.
- 2/5
The room was fine. The listing is incorrect about the free airport shuttle !! The hotel refused to pick us up even though we arrived during their normal check in hours. Their shuttle would only pickup airline crew members after 11:00pm. I selected this hotel specifically for the free shuttle. I’d like my $11 Lyft bill refunded please.
- 2/5

The property was close to Walmart, Tanger outlets, restaurants and some local stores. Great location.
- 4/5
The stay was good! The bathroom door needs some work but overall great stay! Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Hotel bathroom and floors could have been better maintained and cleaned. But overall the beds were comfortable and we slept well.
- 3/5
Great area and hotel,I wish we could have thoroughly enjoyed our stay but our a/c was not working while staying there and the hotel was only offering a partial refund for the inconvenience.
- 5/5
We booked two rooms. The rooms could have been much cleaner, one room the air conditioning stopped working in the early am hours and we woke up to no hot water in the shower. This was after waiting an hour and a half for a recommended pizza delivery.

- 4/5
Great bed. Very noisy.
- 3/5
Bathroom door was fully off the hinges... got a replacement room but there was a situation happening in the lobby which made me uncomfortable. Overall weird vibes.
- 4/5
This was a great hotel for our family of 4. We stayed two nights.
- 3/5
A rate of this hotel average due to our room location which was near the elevator very noisy throughout the night on top of it there was a tour group of young students there who were very noisy throughout the night. Property would’ve gotten a better rating but it was just very noisy with the elevator which I think needs service and just the Residence that night we must’ve been from a tour group were very very noisy. Hotel was clean but an older property showed wear and tear.
- 5/5
Stay was amazing. Jeff the manager went above and beyond for us with troubles concerning not hot water on check in. Will stay again if I’m that area.
- 5/5
Very kid friendly and pet friendly too

The property is very nice! Very clean! I really loved the big shower! The shades in my room made it nice and dark, the way I like to sleep. They have a great staff of employees! Very committed to their guests comfort!
- 4/5
Convenient to the airport.
- 5/5
Room smelled like smoke for some reason, but everything else was great
- 1/5
I’ve stayed at numerous aloft but this is the worst one I ever been at the staff is unprofessional. The condition of this hotel is bad also won’t stay at this one again.
- 5/5
Flight got canceled. Jeff the manager and other staff were so accommodating.
- 5/5
The staff at this location make it worth the visit in itself.
- 5/5
Great staff.
- 2/5
understaffed, poorly trained employees, they had little if any helpful knowledge about anything concerning the hotel. They had no helpful hints about restaurants by the motel. The in house cafe was not staffed. To get a hot cup of tea, I had to take my tea cup and tea bag to the lobby, where a dirty microwave oven was located. All hotels I have been to have a micro wave oven in each room.Nobody called my for 4:30AM wake up call.
- 5/5
It’s great nice the shower door was not working properly
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, staff was friendly. Located near shopping and restaurants. It is located near the airport and planes fly right over the hotel at all hours.
- 5/5
It was good. Easy checkin. The only thing was the noise of the elevator kept my husband up. Great service and a great place to stay.
- 5/5
Great place!
- 4/5
Great staff, very friendly and accommodating. The room was solid and clean. These are minor quibbles but not microwave, so I couldn’t reheat anything. Also, no usb ports in the outlets. I brought and adaptor, but had more than one thing that needed charging, ie AirPods, watch etc. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
- 2/5
They had roaches. Little ones! So it needs to be addressed
- 1/5
I checked into 3 different rooms until I could find a room without dead bugs on the floor or hair in the bed. So disappointing.

Loved the location. We attended a concert and were able to walk to the venue. The front desk staff was very friendly. Having a free pool table was an unexpected bonus. Also, Kyler, our bartender was super kind and social.

The staff were unprofessional and my room was very unkept. I was told that it was due to overbooking and that was the only room available. There was a vape on the counter upon check in and a staff member asleep during the evening hours in the lobby. This was my first time staying at the hotel and I don’t plan on returning. I’m almost unsure if the experience could have been any better.

Room keys kept deactivating EVERY TIME we left the room. Water puddles in the lobby and soggy carpets in the upstairs hallways. Pretty decor saved them from earning 1 star. They ran out of key cards. Lobby has dirty plates lying around. The games that are on display have absolutely nothing in them. 👎
