Would not book here again. Needed a place to stay with a few days notice. Our room had an odd smell and I had to buy an air freshener spray.
- 4/5
Clean, basic room. All needs were met.

Loved my stay!!!!

- 2/5
It was too late after a long drive to ‘pass’ and find another hotel, so with a hip and shoulder replacement in full play, I dragged a 30-pound suitcase one painful step at a time up to a room that was like a funky sauna - at *least* 90 degrees - requiring that I wrench open every available window, block the room door open with a trash can, throw modesty, privacy, and safety aside, and wait for an hour while an old, loud air conditioner struggled to bring the temperature down. The following morning, I was able to negotiate a recently-unoccupied ground floor room, which while cleaner and with vinyl flooring, was still not fitted out with grab bars in the bathroom. The cleaning staff were helpful in getting my suitcase down from the second floor (I simply couldn't have done it myself). The second office staff person was far more helpful and understanding. Expedia should definitely remove any reference to handicapped accommodations from this listing!
- 4/5
Convenient Very standard model.
- 4.5/5
Outstanding & peaceful. Beds were extremely comfortable Peeling wall paper. Curtains did not open all the way
- 3/5
The stay was just ok. The price was reasonable being it’s an older motel with no elevator access. So, if one has heavy luggage like I did, be prepared to do lifting and cardio unless staff is kind enough to give you a room with minimal steps to climb. I wasn’t so lucky. The room was clean. Check-in was okay. The room served its purpose for the 1 night.
- 1/5
Room was dirty. Carpet, walls, furniture were gross. Would never stay there again.
- 5/5
I like that I was able to park right in front of my room. The location was perfect and just what I needed for my stay.
- 5/5
I like the location and also the location of my room with parking right out front. It worked out perfect.
- 5/5

Great!
- 3.5/5
The bed was comfortable and I felt safe. It is not well-maintained. Things are crumbling and there are some holes in the wall. It’s the kind of stuff that makes you wonder how clean it is but generally it did seem clean.

We had reservations and could not make them. We did not cancel. Management would not give us a receipt, saying we were no-shows in order to use for travel insurance reimbursement. Management was unwilling to be helpful.
- 5/5
Great hotel at a very good price. Would stay again any time!
- 2/5
Would highly recommend the hotel owner to do some remodeling, at least in my room which was pretty rough. Bad lighting, dingy carpet and furniture, AC didn’t work, and the staff was far from hospitable.
- 4/5
The room was clean and so was the property. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. We did appreciate the private parking spot. The room was extremely basic -AC unit didn’t work great, but fortunately it was a cool night. Definitely dated and could use some updating. Worked well for a quick overnight stay- can’t beat the price
- 5/5
It’s close to the freeway but surprisingly quite Will stay there again

Yuck!! filthy carpet and hair on left in the tub. I got what I paid for.
- 4/5
No breakfast. Parking good
- 1/5
The bed was comfy, but the room was not very clean. There was a car alarm going off for nearly an hour in the middle of the night. The TV wasn't connected to the cable. The sink was pretty, but not comfortable.

The rooms definitely need to be updated. There was paint peeling off of the bathroom walls and things that were ripped. For a last-minute reservation it was fine though I was able to cook food and it was quiet. It was also very spacious which I appreciated. Need better coffee in breakfast room, and in the rooms.

Superb
- 2/5
We were denied extra towels and pillows very rudely.
- 4/5
Everything was good. Liked the fact that there was assigned parking and in my case the parking was right under the room so my car was protected and close.
- 2/5
Our room was definitely not as pictured nor the room we were shown in the ad that we would have. I was there 2 nights. The first night there was some sort of very loud intermittent equipment or engine noise right under our window, we were on the second floor, I cannot imagine what it was, sounded like generators or the like.second nite was quiet. I did not expect a fancy room for the price etc. and the bathroom was clean and obviously recently redone, that was a plus, but otherwise the entire thing was pretty poor, but particularly the rather dreadful check-in. I have to say the two guys really didn't understand the process and told me numerously times that i should have called them directly and not used Expedia of a computer to book. I would NOT recommend this motel for the experience of the checkin staff particularly, otherwise, it was adequate for a no-frills one night accommodation, even though I have family in the area I would not consider this motel again. sorry to have to say.

Lying on the sofa while communicating with a client—speaking in a manner that was extremely rude and abrasive.
- 4/5
Free continental breakfast is quite sparse compared to some other motels but reasonably priced rooms.
- 4/5
The room was nice and clean. The carpet could use cleaning/replace. The air conditioner worked ok but a bit loud at night. Easy parking. Even though it is close to the freeway, you could not hear it in the room.
- 3.5/5

- 3/5
Check in took awhile because nobody was in office for at least 15 minutes.
- 2.5/5
The lumpy pillows were awful, and the walls and tables were dirty. There was a foul smell in the room and at the front desk. It doesn't deserve its rating.
- 2/5
Room felt dirty
- 4/5
Solid little spot with good sized rooms and very good beds. Breakfast is simple, cereals and toasts, bagels but great coffee machine with excellent coffees -- lattes, cappuchinos etc. Quiet and motel style parking near room. Not too far from good restaurants and 25 minutes to Sonoma or SF if just regular traffic
- 2/5
Not worth the price. Period. The front desk guy was sleeping when I arrived then seemed bothered by me being there. Didn’t speak to me other than for my ID and I would have asked for an upgrade since I needed a freezer but it wasn’t an option. The room, I had to take a video…paint peeling off multiple walls, stained shower wall, grout missing from the tub, cobwebs around the window, the lumpiest pillows (all of them) I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been a property inspector for a ski resort and this wouldn’t pass as guest ready.
- 4/5
a lovely property with great day staff, comfortable beds and a fair price.
- 5/5
It’s the perfect spot if you’re visiting Sonoma raceway. Will definitely stay there again
- 3/5
Not sure how other travelers gave 10/10? I feel Expedia let me down😢
- 4/5
Clean, convenient
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Would stay here afain
- 2/5
Room was clean, but old and not well maintained . Pillows were like rocks .The breakfast had no coffee or tea, consisted of some dry cereal or a bagged stale bagel.Gentleman that checked us in was grumpy and not very helpful .
- 4/5
The rooms have nice touches of elegance -- terrazzo steps outside, beautiful basins, and pretty moulding. I particularly appreciate the roomy fridge and microwave. Although the freeway is close, its noise is not intrusive.
- 5/5
Convenient parking. I had my own garage below my room. Big room. Clean
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
The front desk staff are so nice and welcoming. The rooms are modest, clean, and fresh. The price is fantastic.
- 2/5
The door did not lock and everything was super run down
- 2/5
The room: lumpy, small pillows, worn carpet, desk chair with upholstery peeling off, dresser and chairs with paint rubbed off on the edges. The carpet was so dirty that my feet were black after walking barefoot on it for a vety short amount of time. Dish Network only (limited options). Breakfast very limited. Coffee dispenser doesn't dispense all the drink options. Front desk doesn't answer the phone. Staff brusque and primarily uncommunicative. It is quiet, but only because of low vacancy. I could hear coughing through the walks.
- 4/5
Great check in staff and overall value
- 1/5
Coffee. Pretty much nothing else. One morning…one plane bagel in plastic wrap. Oh and a jar full of raisin brand. Only opened at 7am (start time) one time during my stay. Otherwise at least 30 minutes past open time. Ask front desk about breakfast issues…told it wasn’t their responsibility. Someone else takes care of it.
- 3/5
Convenient bus stop near by . Pillows are uncomfortable but shower was nice. Dish network tv

Great experience all around. Especially appreciated the Management. Bobby and his wife made it feel like home. Wonderful people

- 1/5
Filthy and utterly disgusting. The only reason to stay here would be if you were homeless and it was pouring rain. And I’m still not sure it would be better. I did not stay! I paid in advance for two nights but after seeing the rooms said I could not sleep there! Owner refused to give a refund and only got one after a long drawn out ordeal with Expedia. I am telling you I have ever seen such a dump!
- 4/5
Clean room and easy access to freeway and restaurants. Bed and room was comfortable, breakfast was good. Only complaint was that some one came by and started cleaning window screens and area outside my room, which woke me up. Otherwise no complaints, would stay here again.
- 3/5
Staff was very courteous, but I was disappointed with the condition of the room - bathroom had places where the paint had been damaged. Room was not as nice as the one we had stayed in before. Just seems like attention to the room condition from usage was not addressed, now.

- 5/5
Stop by ever year and is always wonderful
- 5/5
I like Marinwood Inn. It is fairly quiet, even though it's near the 101 highway. The meandering quality of the buildings feels kind of homey. The staff is great, too.
- 5/5
AC unit was user friendly and easy to adjust… Parking was ample
- 4/5
Overall a convenient, affordable and comfortable stay. While other aspects of the room appeared clean I do recommend that the carpets in my room need cleaning.
- 5/5
The parking aspect was great! I appreciate the condo like setup. All the amenities were there. Didn’t need for anything. Bottles of water in the room would have been a great touch but just my preference. Would definitely stay again
- 4/5
Housekeeping staff were great and everyone was friendly. Place could use updating. My only real complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were awful. The breakfast was okay but the coffee was great! Very reasonably priced. All things considered, I was happy with my stay.
- 5/5
Nice area. Clean room affordable
- 4/5
This was a very unique place. The only two issues was the air conditioning didn't very well and the pillows were horrible. Very hard/lumpy
- 1/5
Not including rude and impolite
- 1/5
Owner turned away service, due to late arrival
- 1/5
No AC for the stay. VERY hot. Uncomfortable to sleep at.
- 3/5
The manager wasn't particularly helpful, and breakfast consisted of stale or expired food, with the coffee machine not even working. And the tap water in the rooms was dirty.
- 4/5
Super quaint property. A little rough in the interior, needs some touching up. AC needs a little tlc.
- 5/5
good
- 3/5
I was greeted by a friendly gentleman and really liked that my room included a garage to park in. The room was very clean except for the very worn and stained carpet. The bed was okay although the pillows were very lumpy. I do give Housekeeping 5-Stars.
- 1/5
A/C did not work in the room, staff was not willing to bring a fan
- 3/5
The front desk was nice and helpful. The King bed room I had was a fine place to sleep. It was clean but very basic. The refrigerator was very nice and cool. There was a microwave that was clean and worked. The front desk was very nice and helpful. The breakfast room was clean and food was very basic but stocked.
- 5/5
Large room, friendly people
- 3/5
I picked this hotel because it was one of the ones on Expedia that had a pool when I checked in I asked if the pool was open and they said it was closed. There is a pool however full of water but they say it is closed for maintenance however it appears that the rooms around the pool have been turned into somebody's private residence and that possibly the pool is only for their use. The continental breakfast which starts at 8:00 was unstocked and out of everything by 8:20
- 5/5
Always clean and convenient. Have stayed here multiple times.

First time staying here. Was very comfortable and liked that i had my own parking spot. When i come back for the drag racing next year, will definately stay here
- 5/5
Very good property!
- 2/5
Upon arrival to the Marinwood inn & suite, it was very noticeable that the property was very unclean and unmaintained. A section of the Inn had trash pilled high and very noticeable the pool was extremely dirty. Once I parked and walked in I noticed that the front desk clerk was very rude and short with the guest checking in. Once I received my key after I checked in my wife and I went to our room. Once we entered our room we noticed that the room had an un clean smell. The furniture and chairs was peeling and tearing. The floor was dirty, which prompted my wife to go to the store and buy cleaning products to clean the floor and tub just so we can feel comfortable enough to stay there. There breakfast was only milk and cereal and old bread slices. Expedia should not be offering these types of hotels, suites, inns, etc. The rating on this place is deceitful. On Expedia this is a 7.0 but should be rated as a 2.0. I will never returning to this Inn and I will think twice before using Expedia again.
- 1/5
This was a horrible experience. Worker was beyond rude. Room was filthy. Like filthy filthy gross. If it wouldnt have been for no refund and everything wasnt book i would have walked out. Gross gross gross.
- 1/5
Had horrible service, the beds were ROCK hard and all the pillows we got were way to lumpy!

- 4/5
Location was good for us to get to the Sonoma race track. I didn't like the fact that the staff couldn't speak English. Limited garbage cans in the room. The rooms should be cleaned out a little better. Great location! Friendly staff, but should speak English better.
- 3/5
The room was fine except the service is in need of real improvement. When I checked in, it seemed like I was bothering the check-in the staff. No welcome no smile no forthcoming word formation. Just handed my card and that’s it. When my stay was over, I had realized I had lost my EarPods in the room and I had called for help at the hotel and they responded like I was bothering them again. No help no nothing. Staff even seemed irritated that I called. So now I’ve lost my AirPods. This reallly can’t be that difficult to be nice and helpful.

I got there late at night. And their internet was down. They would not let us in the hotel and told us we had to wait for like an hour. Even though we showed him our reservations they wouldn't let us in a room.
- 3/5
Good
- 4/5
Very hospitable, continental breakfast has a variety.Very clean rooms and comfy bed!Highly recommend!
- 3/5
It's old and unkept, very large property, perhaps not much staff to keep up with. It's good for one night, but not for more than that. We had no deadbolt lock on our door and the bathroom sink didn't drain quickly. The bed was clean.
- 1/5
AND... Once you make a reservation at this poorly ran hotel you will NOT be getting a refund, this money grabbing establishment does not give refunds for any reason. Very inconsiderate way to run a business.
- 1/5
The room felt dirty and creepy. Coffee maker dirty. Water leak in bathroom all over floor. Dark room, poor lighting. No charging plugs.
- 5/5
Such a different kind of motel. It was quaint and quiet.
- 3/5
Quiet for a good stay
- 5/5
Quick check in. Quiet location. Exactly as pictured.
- 1/5
Hotel had large bugs crawling all over the room and bathroom. Curtains had burn holes in them. Very unclean.
- 5/5
Like the location, stuff and quality
- 5/5
Amazing place! Beautiful area and super room! Thanks guys!
- 4/5
Good.
- 1/5
EXTREMELY rude staff.
- 1/5
The frontdesk was uncourteous and rude. Room carpet was disgustingly dirty and smelly. Their safedeposit box is not functioning while when we ask the frintdesk says “put your money in the bank and bring your jewelries with you” How rude and impolite….never coming back to this place nor will we never ever recommend anyone in staying here.
- 3/5
Slow check-in, cobwebs in room, sparse breakfast, someone cooking on a bbq in the parking lot, rundown motel in need of some upgrades. My husband took a shower with no hot water.
- 2/5
The room looked and smell dirty. There was a wet spot on the carpet.
- 1/5
From no hard breakfasts, to unmaintained air conditioning units, to lights not working outdoors, to unfriendly and unhelpful nighttime staff. The Grand hotel has significantly subsided their service and care since New Management look over. Simple things as running the compound lights in the villa section or taking out the trash, or keeping the rooms tidy, isnt something that interests this hotel. Further, when bringing up any grievances to staff is met with rude, unapologetic staff, who are there not to provide any service instead talk back and make the whole issue even worse. The temperature in the lobby and common spaces in the main building is set to a staggering 79 degrees Fahrenheit, 26+ degrees Celsius! This causes the hallways to get muggy and the rooms to get misty and smell moldy. Up on further inspection of the AC system in the room, looks like they haven't changed the air filters in God knows when! There's a thick layer of dust and a smell that can only be recalled from some 3rd world country crap. The air conditioning unit in the room is extremely loud and goes in and out making a good night's sleep not possible! Without making this any longer than it needs to be, if you're looking for a hotel in Sunnyvale, the grand hotel should not be your first, second or 3rd choice. Even if it's all for that a lower price!
- 2/5
In general the experience was that of old motel in desperate need of new owners.
- 1/5
Appears we got charged $10 but still not sure what for? The toilet seat in the room was peeling in multiple places, the floors were old and gross. The breakfast was the best part of this stay and we also found a nice terrace in the back of the property with tables and chairs but really the room was gross. It cost way too much for the gross room. Felt duped b/c the photos did not match what they gave us. Stayed in CA 5 weeks and I would say this was the worst hotel of the stay and all the other hotels were in the same price range.
- 5/5
Mostly okay. Clean comfortable affordable.
- 5/5
Everything is perfect
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Really nice
- 4/5
They allowed me to check in early. But heater wasnt working
- 4/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Everything was perfect!
- 5/5
Was concerned that proximity to 101 would be loud, but my room was well off the frontage, quite quiet and very well appointed. The shower was particularly nice. The free breakfast was better than most, and overall, if I needed to stay in North Marin ever again, I'd come back to Marinwood Suites.
- 3/5
The place was fair and met my needs. Booked Hotel on Hotels.com and still was charged with a daily booking fee which was not disclosed upfront.
- 1/5
Pillows had poliester crumbled in hard balls inside uneven. gave us neck aches! the room is super noisy the AC is noisy, the highway, bad experience
- 4/5
Rooms could use a little more maintenance but overall a good value for this area.
- 1/5
I need a refund. The hotel never received the reservation. I waited there for 2 hours
- 4/5
I liked that, fpr my needs, this was a great location. I liked easy acess to the freeway going both north and south. I liked the Peets coffee machine with the breakfast, offering such delicious choices. Liked having the parking so close to my room. I didn't like hearing the freeway noises all through the night.
- 2/5
Trip started out great. Woke up to take shower and had no hot water. Ran it for 10 mins and still nothing. Had hot water the night before. When checking out, I told the front desk that I didn’t have hot water and was told that “no one else complained so don’t know why”. Really? Might as well call me a liar. Would not return.
- 4/5
Un poco más de limpieza
- 5/5
Our heater was broken and froze in the room even though we notified staff 3 times it was not resolved in 2 days. Usually this place is good but this unsatisfactory.
- 3/5
The biggest issue I see with a lot of privately owned motels is, they are not maintained well. From the gap under the door to the lumpy pillows this Motel was a good example of that. The mattress was decent, however, the pillows were the lumpiest and most uncomfortable pillows I had ever had in a hotel. This is a motel with Apartments behind it in the same complex. Some of the nicer outdoor pictures you see online appear to be more of the apartment complex. One area has a bunch of supplies sitting out in front of what seemed to be the location of one of the nicer online pictures. The individual who checked me in was friendly and efficient. Getting to the room and the parking was easy enough. It was an okay Motel but needs some basic maintenance work.
- 2/5
Not worth the value paid
- 5/5
Good and quiet
- 3/5
Decent for a 1 night stay. Would not recommend more than that. Room needs painting and drywall repair. Bed seemed clean mattress not the most comfortable and fitted sheet didn’t fit properly.
- 5/5
The property is clean, safe and plenty of parking. They have a small laudry room with an ice machine. Nice place to stay for short amd long.
- 4/5
The place is conveniently located to the venue we were attending. It was quiet and very little outside noise was heard from the room which was nice. The bathroom looked updated and the hot water came very fast (no waiting around for it to warm up). The room could have used a little upgrade. The rug definitely needed to be replaced and a paint job. The bed was comfortable except for the lumpy pillows. Otherwise, it was a decent place for the night. No frills.
- 5/5
Staff welcoming, friendly, and very kind. Always a good experience. No complaints!
- 4/5
Very cozy motel but only problem I saw was too much flies in the bathroom. It wasn't smelly or anything, just flies hanging out by the window to where I grabbed them with toilet paper then flushed them.
- 5/5
The owners are lovely
- 3/5
Very bad breakfast
- 4/5
Nice stay
- 5/5
Nice if you’re on a budget
- 5/5
Love this place go there once a year very comfortable very quiet
- 1/5
The room was freezing, the bed was loud and hard, you could feel the springs, the pillows were little squares that were lumpy. All you can hear is the highway all night and the wind comes through the door and under the door. Slept for a few hours and then couldn’t move much as my back was killing me. They are very rude. The first room I went into had a huge chemical smell that gave me an instant headache, I went back to the front desk and he was super rude about me asking for another room. The next morning when I came to pack up my stuff to leave, he’s smoking by my door and then in a condescending tone “is THIS room better for you?” Yaaaa sure. No refunds no nothing. So I paid for a room I didn’t even stay in
- 3/5
Okay
- 2/5
Service was good, room was a good size, beds were super hard, mold and peeling wallpaper in bathroom, carpets really dirty. Good for a last minute stay not good for long term.
- 1/5
I left a day early and lost the money. Yes that bad Rugs dirty bathroom floor filthy room smelled lots more
- 3/5
I got what I paid for
- 4/5
Good place to rest

I scheduled from an area with spotty cell service. I was billed, but no confirmation from Expedia. I drove an hour to the town and when I had cell reception I called the motel to find out if I actually had reservations and it went like this. "Hi, I'm calling to confirm my reserva..." "We're Closed.!" (This at 11 PM). "But I've... "Do you not understand We're Closed?!" End of conversation. Five minutes later, I got a text from Expedia confirming I was charged for the stay. Three weeks later, back from my trip, Expedia has not credited me for the charge for my non-stay. Either this operation is soon to be under different management or may have just fired the employee, but I would not take a room here unless you are standing in the lobby and have a chance to check the room before paying.
- 3/5
The staff person at the front desk is very rude and extremely unprofessional. I called him to let him know that I reserved an extra day, he answered come tomorrow and hanged up on me. It's hard to believe that this type of customer service still exists. I was staying at this place and trying not to have any interaction with the front desk person because the rooms are not bad but I don't have to deal with this type of people and I will no longer be staying here. I'll take my business somewhere else.
- 5/5
We had a very good time
- 5/5
Nice location, clean and friendly environment
- 1/5
Room was very dirty. Are those blood stains on the curtains? Spiders in the windows. Gross filthy carpet too dirty for barefoot- to buy slippers. We asked to switch rooms but management refused saying all the rooms were the same. So all are just as bad, presumably. We changed hotels. Will not go there again.
- 4/5
Good value. The outside is attractive. Rooms are gradually being renovated. Some things in my room, like the carpet, were worn but other things had been updated. The bed was good. I parked in a carport under my room. It is in a quiet area but it takes a short drive to places to eat. Breakfast was basic. I would stay again.
- 1/5
Dingy, old room. But really it's the terrible service and outright lie about 24 hour front desk that got me.
- 5/5
Very quiet and easy for parking and so convenient for exploring the area
- 5/5
Near a Safeway so easy to pick up some food
- 5/5
This property condition is way more than 2 star hotel. All bricks and stylish houses. Rooms are spacious And clean. its worth the money
- 5/5
I liked this place.

Convenient and affordable.
