Reviews
The hotel's location is praised for its convenience and proximity to Stanford University and other local amenities. However, the property is frequently criticized for being outdated, poorly maintained, and not well cleaned. The staff's friendliness is appreciated, but their unhelpfulness and lack of communication are also mentioned.
- Convenient location
- Friendly staff
- Outdated and poorly maintained property

Room was clean & staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good.
- 4/5
The property was in a great location for our needs. The signage was easy to see. The hotel property was well maintained. Our room was clean and fresh, well decorated and overall pleasant. There weren’t enough outlets for all of our electronics. Also considering the times we live in, adding some USB ports in the room would be great.
- 2.5/5
Very clean The room was nice and clean, but we were given a room for disabled without being offered another one. We were late and just kept it, but it means the bathroom is huge for a wheelchair and lacks additional seating because the bedroom is smaller and access to the sink has to be very wide outside the bathroom. We should have been compensated, or they should have offered a regular room as reserved.
- 3.5/5
The location of the hotel to Stanford Cancer Center was perfect, not too far. The beds were very comfortable. The room was small, somewhat outdated and could use a bit of sanding of the bathroom walls & bathroom doors, putty around the tub and fresh paint and that would complete a very satisfying bathroom visit. The room was clean, adequate for a comfortable stay with plenty of towels. The continental breakfast was very good with good choices of breakfast food and juices. I will stay again. I didn't like that the upstairs occupants were so loud in the early morning hours and late evening hours. This was not a reflection of the Comfort Inn, just neighbors that did not respect the other guests. Maybe in-room signs that says, "Please respect other guests" and keep the noise at a respectful level. Thank you, Management
- 4/5
Everything was to my satisfaction. I did not eat breakfast there so I cannpt comment on that. When I arrived, a sign at the front desk says "Be back in 5 minutes", but it took significantly longer.
- 5/5
Great location and room for a great price!
- 4/5
I like the breakfast that offers hot and cold food. The only downside is having not enough seats and tables. Hope it will be better next time when you add them or renovate. In the bathroom, toilet paper is in front of me out of reach to the wall.
- 2/5
Did not pre-disclose $9.95 parking fee, in front of room we paid for, in a not secure parking lot, and parked at our own risk
- 4/5
Yes the area feel safety and the breakfast is very good
- 4.5/5
The room is great and clean, containing all the basic things we need for a brief night of stay. The breakfast is standard. Overall, I think it's a good deal in the area. We lost a t shirt in the room and were able to retrieve it later. Appreciated the staff for doing that The two rooms were pretty far away from each other even though we requested them to be close.

Excellent service, kind and friendly staff. Ideal accommodations. Delicious breakfast.
- 5/5
This was my third time staying at this hotel, and although it seems modest, it has everything I need, at a great price. The free breakfast is especially good for this price range.
- 1/5
Room was very dirty when arrived. Next morning I told the person at front office about it and even showed the photos. They said they'll clean it while I stepped out. When I come back room was the same. I went again ans spoke to another person and he offered my a refund and to check out. I told him I had booked 3 nights how does he expect me to find another plaxe to stay so soon. So he then sent someone to do a quick clean. I was very disappointed 😞.

Clean and fresh rooms, great location and simple and hearty helpings for breakfast! Great value will stay again!

The first room I had 106 had a bath faucet that ran all the time, so they moved me to the last room left that day 103. The room absolutely stank of urine, probably cat urine which I thought came from the arm chair, but caused the whole room to absolutely stink. Completely unsanitary conditions to have to sleep in.

Clean room and helpful staff
- 5/5
clean space and plenty of available parking! very nice staff
- 3/5
Clean rooms. A/C was not working. Friendly staff. Didn’t get a chance to do breakfast. Parking ok.
- 2/5
隔音不好,如果住一楼,总是在很晚听到停车场车辆出入的人员走动说话的声音,有时听到旁边学校里的声音。房间里光线不好,很阴,有虫子从门缝里爬出来。不舒服。
- 4/5
Clean, quiet and comfortable. Easy parking, convenient to Stanford. Breakfast was simple but appreciated.
- 4/5
Staff was nice but the floor in the room was sticky and it was in need of updates. Also, very noisy.
- 3/5
This is my go to hotel when I need one that’s not too expensive and I feel very safe and always clean . There’s very speacial about the property , the beds are mostly king and some queens so that’s nice . It’s a cozy safe hotel . The breakfast is not that good. Definitely they need to work on that . They could easily have the buffet be fresh and tasty and enjoyable. People would appreciate it so much more !
- 5/5
Always a great stay, thx !

First night we were there we got in late and they gave us room 130. I had my daughter and two grandsons with me because we were going to the children's hospital. Needless to say the my grandson dropped some water and when I went to wipe it up on the floor the towel turned dirty because the floor had not been mopped. The bathroom door was broken and would not lock. We shut the lights off to go to bed and you could see outside where the door shuts. The next morning I complained to the front desk (Victor was working) and he apologized and said he could put us in a different room. I said that’s fine so I checked the new room (rm 124) out and it seemed to be cleaner. We moved all of our stuff into the room and then my daughter went into the bathroom and saw there were pincher bugs in the bath tub. I became very upset because my grandson just had surgery and having a dirty room was not good. So I went to the office and told Victor I had enough of this place and I needed to leave this property to go find a clean place for my family. Victor stated he would refund me and at this time two days later I still have not been refunded. So to anyone looking for a clean place to stay I would check out your room before having your family stay here. The sad part is its very expensive in this area and this hotel had decent prices.
- 5/5
Parking was easy and parking lot felt safe. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
- 4/5
The free breakfast was very good. Plus, the room was clean and quiet for a good nights sleep.

Clean room. Poor choice for front office person.
- 1/5
I came for a medical appointment and a house auditor for services came into my room after I checked in. Awful and not safe. The room was dirty unkept and the doors filthy. In addition, smokers outside my room although it is suppose to be smoke free. I left the hotel for fear of someone coming again into my room and they did not speak English. I DO NOT receommend this hotel to anyone.. Beware..

Room was not cleaned good but I stay one night so i did. Not have time to say anything, coffee maker area was very dirty.
- 4/5
The room was nice but the bed, for me personally, was too soft and noisy. The bathroom was nice but the door was so hard to open and close and the floor had some black lines. Overall i didn't have high hopes but the breakfast was also good and i left content
- 4/5
Clean and quiet room
- 1/5
Well day one was fine, day two they took all the towels and didn’t put any new towels, had to dry off with the sheets from the bed that was interesting.

Good Breakfast and clean and comfortable. Bets. Go to experience.
- 5/5
Clean, nice room
- 5/5
Very clean room and friendly office staff.
- 5/5
Young man who checked us in was very nice and friendly. It had been awhile since we stayed here and did notice that room had been updated. It's a shame that some people don't take care of things. New fridge was broken inside. Blackout curtain couldn't be raised. Overall the room looks better than before.

Food needs to be kept hot, eggs were lukewarm, tater tots were cold.
- 4/5
No issues, price was great. Extra towels would have been nice but didn’t request any either.
- 5/5
Great value
- 4/5
The room was comfortable with a good bed and full pillows.
- 4/5
Everything was ok
- 5/5
The room was spotless every day we were there. Great breakfast every day! Thank you!
- 3/5
The person at the front desk seemed annoyed to check me in. There were ants in the bathroom. No ironing board, only two hangers, only one desk chair, and an old paper towel from a previous occupant in the microwave. On a more positive note, the staff did bring me more hangers and an extra desk chair.
- 4/5
The room was clean, the staff polite, and the breakfast very good.
- 4/5
Location convenient Room was clean. Front office staff professional and helpful. Didn’t have breakfast but noticed it was available.
- 5/5
Clean environment, great staff and proximity to bus stops
- 5/5
The upgrades done at this property were wonderful. Everything was lovely. The beds were so very comfortable.
- 3/5
Easy parking but no much nearby, far from freeway
- 2/5
Toilet and sink drain were both plugged when I checked into the room. I had to unplug the toilet myself. The sink drain wasn't unplugged for two days.
- 5/5
Great cleanliness and breakfast
- 4/5
Pretty good breakfast included for the price (fruits, granola, waffle machine, salty options, and of course coffee, juice...) It can be a bit noisy depending on your neighbors, but that wasn't a big issue in practice.
- 1/5
Exhausted and frustrated, I went back to the front desk to report it. Instead of taking my word for it, the staff member insisted on verifying it himself, as if I was making it up. Ten minutes later, he returned looking embarrassed and finally admitted the room was indeed dirty. Then, unbelievably, he tried to contact housekeeping to have the room cleaned right then, close to midnight! The idea that I should wait around while someone tidied up a filthy room at that hour was beyond inconsiderate. After another long wait, I was told no cleaning staff were available, and only then was I reassigned to a different room. By this point, it was well past midnight, and my patience was gone. The entire ordeal was handled so poorly, from the disbelief to the lack of urgency or basic courtesy, that I felt completely disrespected as a paying guest. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The condition of the rooms and the staff’s response were both unacceptable. I left feeling disgusted and deeply disappointed. I will never stay here again and strongly recommend others look elsewhere
- 5/5
I had a great stay, but my room was very cramped. Staying in Room 126 (by own request), the room had everything I needed but was a little tight in space. Maybe if they a smaller mattress in that room, there would be more space.
- 5/5
The front desk guy was so helpful and got us into our room early!
- 5/5
Parking good, room was clean, quiet.
- 4/5
The bed and pilllows were a little too hard. Need softer beds and pillows
- 1/5
La atension al cliente es patética la señora que atiende en recepción que parece asiática y usa lentes te trata con los pies y te discrimina

An older facility but clean and organized. Included breakfasts are excellent!
- 4/5
I only spent one night but slept very well.
- 4/5

Our renovated room had good lighting but lacked bedside reading lights. We liked the new uncarpeted floors.

- 5/5
Clean room, very nice staff, good breakfast
- 3/5
Reserved a non smoking room and when I and kids went in it was very bad odor or smoke (cigarette) night clerk said it was the air freshener I stay here often but this time it was just no satisfactory.
- 4/5
Good service, clean but old room, decent complementary breakfast, small parking lot.
- 5/5
Yes
- 3/5
The sink drains poorly and the sink stopper does not work well. Plus there were ants coming from somewhere and crawling over the sink. The main tub spout was loose and would leak in "shower" mode. The main door into my room was way off "square". and had a half inch gap on the bottom. Any mouse could easily get into my room. They used to have carpeting in these rooms, now it is fake hard wood. I prefer the carpet. On a positive note, I thought the bed was comfortable.
- 2/5
Clean room free parking
- 4/5
It was quiet, the breakfast was good, clean and updated room. Would stay again and would recommend.
- 2/5
Toilet lever kept getting stuck. I am celiac and only gluten free option was banana for full breakfast. And the lovely jack hammer at 7:00 am for alarm clock. Oh can’t forget the rock hard bed. But it was clean.
- 4/5
Clean. Newly remodeled. Good price.
- 3/5
When I checked in, the clerk barely looked at me as he was involved in a personal phone conversation. He just asked for my ID and credit card and handed me my room key. When I returned to the motel in the evening there weren’t any parking spaces left, so I had to take a handicap space. Lastly, no lamps in the room. Only harsh overhead lighting.
- 5/5
Really good. Close to stanford, breakfast included, quiet area and nice front desk.
- 4/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
Very nice 👍

No information or amenities were provided, and the service was unsatisfactory.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean place and room
- 5/5
This was a great place to stay. People were friendly and the rooms were clean. They had a nice breakfast everyday.
- 5/5
Second time staying here at this location and even got the same room as last stay comfy beds and pillows
- 4/5
Good location, clean, older property. Very good included breakfast. Moderately priced.
- 5/5
Satisfied with the stay, I would always recommend it.
- 5/5
Close walk to Starbucks, Donut shop, Chinese food.
- 3/5
it's okay
- 3/5
Appear to be remodeling the room. No lights. Only power cords worked on one side of bed. No smoke detectors. The bathroom was clean but had broken tiles on the floor. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
The wifi was terrible. We have iPads that rely on wifi, and every time we opened one to do something, we had to log on again and wait 5 minutes to be connected AGAIN. One of the rooms had a broken shower fixture, as well as a mislabeled bottle of shampoo. Not the end of the world but definitely a nuisance.
- 3/5
Clean reasonably priced free parking. Bathroom was humid even with the fan left on
- 4/5
The place was been remodeled while we were there. There was a roach in the room. But the staff was good, nice and friendly. I think next time we will look for a better place. My husband is been treated at Stanford Hospital so we will be going back to the town again.
- 4/5
Was very good
- 5/5

Thankfully it was a really short stay. But got bites all over they have bed bugs it could have been so much worse thankfully i had a small blanket and sleept over it since i didnt feel comfortable using anything in the room
- 4/5
Clean
- 3/5
In a quiet area with a lot of businesses. The front desk was as responsive as they could be but there are issues. When we got back to our room at 9:15pm from a trip to SF the tub had dirty water in it. I went down to rhe front office but all they could do about it was offer me a plunger. It worked & cleared up the backup but no staff was present to clean the tub. This morning my son took a shower to clear it up. When it was my turn the tub started gurgling and flushed more dirty water into the tub. I could not take my shower. The room also doesn’t have kleenix, and the toilet paper is on the opposite wall from the toilet. For a small or elderly person it requires them to leave the toilet to get the wipes.
- 2/5
Also, the front desk staff did not make me feel welcome. He was rude and unfriendly
- 3/5
Place is older and in need of up grade. Small fridge made noises all night as well as the air conditioner. Could hear activity from room above. Upon entry into room found closet door was broken at the bottom. Went back and reported right away so we wouldn’t be charged for it. We came in for breakfast at 7 to find the food already limited. Settled for yogurt and orange juice. Reasonable rate if you’re just looking for a place to crash.
- 5/5
This property is very nice for the money . I definitely recommend staying here . It’s quiet , safe , clean and the rooms have been renovated and it’s very cozy . The price sometimes goes up but , just keep an eye ams it drops which then makes it very worth it .

Property is older and in the process of being renovated. Our room was newly renovated, but was furnished with old furniture. While the standard room was small, it had all the essentials and everything in the room worked as it should. The daily breakfast served in the office included sausage, egg whites, tater tots, toast, mini muffins, and yogurt. Not a lot of choices here, but it was okay. They had great coffee in the office.
- 3/5
Its ok
- 5/5
Ok
- 5/5
There was a lot of construction going on other than that room was nice beds were comfortable and so were pillows
- 2/5
Bathtub was not clean. Paint peeling off wallpaper and worn linoleum.
- 5/5
staff went well above the 5 star service rating available
- 4/5
Nice quick stop spot. Beds were comfortable and the space was clean. Staff was polite. Breakfast offered warm as well as cold options: waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausages, taters, cereal, toast, coffee and hot water with filtered water dispenser. Shower dispensers were pretty awesome, dispensing pretty good quality shampoo and conditioner. If only they could add body wash in the shower and hand soap at the sink. Bedding and bath lineyn were crisp. Door did not seal well as it let in lots of light and noise. First floor was louder in the early morning with guest foot traffic than we would have liked but I guess expected for local commuters. We would stop here again just ask for a 2nd floor room.
- 4/5
I come to Palo Alto once a month. My quest for a clean, comfortable, safe, relatively new, and acceptably priced accomodations near Stanford (preferably with some form of light breakfast) has repeatedly left me disappointed. Of the many I have tried, this property comes the closest to my quest .... I will return. Nicely and I am guessing recently remodeled, my room was spotless and cheery. Black out shades also made it a good sleep. Breakfast was the typical, but the eggs actually had flavor and the sausage was tasty. My one disappointment was the minimum number of outlets and absence of any USB or C. This could be resolved with updated table lamps that include outlets so it is possible that is available in some rooms.
- 5/5
Easy to find, plenty of parking, and clean rooms.
- 4/5
The room was quite adequate and met our expectations. Bed was comfortable with nice sheets. The room is very dated and somewhat worn. Motel is in process of updating rooms. We had room towards back so it was quiet. It took 18-20 minutes easy commute to get to Stanford Hospital.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my stay at Comfort Inn Palo Alto! It was kept very clean and we had a very comfortable stay. The hotel is also located near some dining options that are easily walkable.
- 4/5
All the lampshades were askew like there was a rockin' party the previous night. Room 132 must be Party Central, but during my stay things were quiet.
- 4/5
Convenient to work place
- 3/5
Old hotel. Wall paper coming off is several places. Had to call the office to turn on the heater.
- 4/5
The property is in a good proximity to the Stanford surgery center. But the room is old. It was a little noisy walls are thin. Breakfast was good. Parking was great.

Was cheap, bed was ok, lack of daily cleaning unless asked for. And zero space provided for outdoor sitting.
- 5/5
The person working the front desk when I arrived was one of the most cordial people I have encountered serving in that position.
- 3/5
It’s not my go to place in Palo Alto. The amenities are not good and the shampoo/conditioner was empty in the shower stall. Area is noisy at night with traffic.
- 4/5
We had asked for a room on the first floor and they had provided it for us.
- 3/5
It was clean and the staff were helpful. Parking was easy. Need curtain clips as the curtains don't always close all the way. Breakfast was good. Need bottle openers in the rooms. Overall needs were met.
- 4/5
Seating area for the continental breakfast is too small and it only had a few tables to eat.
- 5/5
Nice location
- 2/5
The building itself looks nice, seemingly new paint. The room needs paint, and to be cleaned. It lacks upgrades. Unfortunately I will not be staying there again.
- 5/5
Nice, convenient location
- 3/5
This is a run down property but the staff is nice, the rooms are clean and the beds are soft. It is also an affordable option in this expensive area.
- 5/5
Their services are very good,
- 3/5
Extremely outdated. Mold in bathroom grout. Good beds and nice bedding. I expected more for the price
- 5/5
the bed was really comfortable after a long walk to the hotel
- 5/5
Good location, centrally located and close to good dining options within walking distance, and well connected to public transportation.
- 5/5
Good air conditioner too.
- 4/5
We had requested for a room on the 1st floor and they had provided it.
- 3/5
Everything was good. The only thing i did not like was that the shower head was broken.
- 4/5
My biggest complaint is that the vendinf machines dont work so you cant get bottled water on site. Our Direct Tv didnt work, but they were able to get us a better room with a working tv. The wallpaper was peeling in places but otherwise rooms were clean. Decent hotel if you just need a cheap place close to the Shoreline Amphitheater.
- 4/5
The interaction with the staff was good, attentive. The breakfast was good, I enjoyed it. The room was quite and bed was comfortable. but the in-room coffeemaker did not work. The shower was very hot and great shower head! The room met all my needs!
