The room and bathroom were clean. It had everything we needed for our short stay.
- 4/5
Very close to Stanford Hospital, good for staying if you’re from out of the area. Fair rates and kind staff
- 3/5
Room was clean but small. Bedding was smelly unpleasantly. Breakfast was very simple.
- 4.5/5
Price was very competitive for the area and the location was close by where we needed to be. Older buildings and on a main busy road.

The staff was terrific. Very helpful and very kind. My only concern is the stairs to the room. I have trouble with stairs. The staff carried my bags both up and down for me. Getting up the stairs was a challenge. Good restaurants around , clean, not sure I can stay there without having to a ground floor room.

Very good price for the area. Front desk staff friendly. Yes, some things (like outdoor carpeting) are showing their age, but everything is clean. Simple breakfast available in the office, and pleasant seating outside.

Owners and staff were exceptionally accommodating. They went above and beyond to help with changes in our stay. We were there because my father had a short stay at Stanford hospital. Of course you think you have everything figured out...but emergencies happen and things change. They made sure we were taken care of. Thank you all.

The staff was nice The room was very dirty and dusty. Although the staff was excellent, the rooms were very poor. I always bring wipes to wipe down the counter tops and tub and all surfaces and everything was covered in dirt and dust. It was really nasty. There was globs of dust on the lamp shades, rugs, kitchenette, refrigerator, everywhere. Dust everywhere. It seems the rooms aren’t ever cleaned.

Breakfast wasn't much. The coffee was surprisingly good, though, so I grabbed that and a granola bar which was fine with me. Even at check in our room wasn't ready but fair enough it was BTS concert week, lol! The staff were very nice though and figured out a way to get us into a room. It was in the midst of renovation so the room had some glitches but the renovation looked nice. I think once the renovation is done this place will be a very good value as long as the room rates don't go up too much.

Breakfast is cello wrapped danishes. Very efficient a/c. We had no intention of using pool or spa, but it’s empty and unavailable for this summer. It’s not a property you lounge at, just stay at. There is a nice covered patio area. We chose for price, under $200 p/n. Most other hotels we usually stay at are @ $400 p/n. We go to Stanford hospital frequently, not for fun and thought we’d try something less expensive.
- 5/5
Stayed here for the BTS concert and the staff were so sweet and helpful! It made my trip even better thanks from a grateful ARMY ?

I had the most pleasant stay at this motel. From the moment I interacted with the people who run this place I was greeted (first online) (then when I arrived) with a hospitality I havent seen in years. They were friendly, super knowlegable about the area, they filked me in on foid and bus stops I was going to need before the event. They were genuinely interested and they made sure I wasnt left with any uncertainties, since I was traveling alone. I cant say enough about the brother and sister who run this place and about those people I didnt get the chance to meet in person. Everyone was so kind and accomodating. They are remodeling all the rooms and the room I got was so nice. The bedding was top notch, and the shower was huge. They had good towels and ia nroom fridge and microwave. In the morning I had a lovely chat over good coffee and LOTS of scrumptious pastries. No one rushed me off the property by check out and I was allowed to leave my car there as I ventured off to the event. Like I said, I traveled alone and I felt a bit out of my comfort zone. Upon arriving at the Stanford Motor Inn I immediately knew I was in good hands and my trip was as memorable as I had hoped it would be. If your ever in Stanford or any of the cities surrounding it youll see a ton of hotel/motels to choose from, please take my advice and book a stay here. They deserve it and so will you. Thanks you guys, I will be back one day with my daughter this time. I had a blast! I hated the fact that I couldnt stay longer.
- 5/5
The people running this establishment were absolutely wonderful, so warm, kind and helpful. They made our stay such a great experience! This is an older property is in the process of renewal, but you can tell the owners take pride in the place and I look forward to seeing what they do next.
- 5/5
Everything was great. It's a family owned since 1973. Still has that 70's look on the outside and some rooms still have that look. They are remodeling their rooms discreetly and they will be doing the same to the exterior. Neil is the owners so and he is very personable he also runs the front desk and is there for his customers. They also have adequate parking, ice machine and a very nice continental breakfast. A great stay.
- 5/5
Exceptionally helpful and friendly folks at the front desk. Location is convenient, walking distance to California Avenue and short drive/bike ride to Stanford. Room was very comfortable and quiet.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay! Very thoughtful and caring staff made me feel welcome and comfortable!
- 1/5
I arrived to a run down hotel probably built in the 1950’s with no bandaids applied since. The pool was drained, the rooms had window units hanging below the window. No other cars in parking lot I thought it was closed for business or much needed renovation. The only people present were construction workers smoking and hanging in their cars and on open room doors. Not appealing as a single female traveler. I asked for and received a refund. In no way is this hotel or “motor inn” a 7 I would grade it as a - forget it .
- 3/5
Appear to be remodeling
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay. You feel like family!
- 2/5
I was given the Key to Rm. 137...2nd floor Unfortunately, the Room was NOT SEQUENCED accordingly. I had to LOOK for it. After Rm.135...136... It was a DEAD END. THERE WAS NO ROOM 137 ! I confronted this Lady . She told me to go to the other end... I saw... Rm 132..134... Still I couldn't locate my assigned Rm. 137 !!!!
- 4/5
Front office staff were very hospitable and helped us beyond what was required. Breakfast was more than adequate. Appreciated on-site free parking.
- 5/5
Staff, both evening and morning, were exceptional. The property is older but well maintained. Wonderful amenities including refrigerator with freezer, stove, free parking, well placed outlets and complimentary continental breakfast. I appreciate the medical discount offering.
- 4/5
The room had a bad smell
- 3/5
Just ok
- 4/5
The manager and staff were incredibly friendly, responsive and helpful. When I asked for help with the TV, the manager came within 5 minutes, and replaced the TV when he couldn’t fix the problem within 10 minutes. In the morning, the desk person was equally friendly and welcoming and offered me bottled water to take on the road. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable space to rest your head at a reasonable cost near Stanford, with great service, this is the spot! I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Very clean, small room. Friendly, helpful staff. Walls were a little thin, but not too bad.
- 4/5
I've stayed here before and will stay here again. It's a budget hotel/motel but honestly, the bed was as comfy as a place 3X the price. Everything was clean. The staff was super nice. Check in took 30 seconds. For my tastes, the place is def worn around the edges, decor a bit dated and not appeal to some, and it's not what I would say -- pretty. But everything worked, I got a good night's sleep, things were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you're a fussy type and have a certain aesthetic, you won't like it. If you can see past old (but functional) elements, and don't need everything to feel like a designer layout, you could do OK here.
- 5/5
Simple tasks like dead batteries in the TV remote can be very frustrating at many hotels; even chain ones. And they all loved having my dog stay there! :-)
- 3/5
Staff were nice and helpful
- 5/5
The motel is an older motel kept in pretty good condition. My room was very clean. comfortable beds, nice pillows, nice sheets, and blankets. the owner Neil is very kind very considerate always had a smile on his face. I Enjoyed him immensely! housekeeping very friendly. Anything you’d ask for they would make sure it was in your room. even though it was on a busy road. It was quiet. Definitely will be back.
- 4/5
I stayed there a few times. It was fine.
- 5/5
Parking was safe and easy. Rooms updated and clean with big mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Bathroom stocked with choices for various amenities. TV instructions very clear! Restaurant nearby for dinner. Breakfast was take out items back to room to enjoy with in room coffee.
- 5/5
In high-priced Palo Alto, the price was very reasonable, and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great
- 1/5
Tiny room massively overpriced, poorly appointed with an incredibly loud heater.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was very good. The continental breakfast was packaged pastries and coffee-machine coffee. Some fruit and fresh brewed coffee would make it much better. The staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Great greeting at check in. Rooms are clean but dated. The rooms could use a little updating, painting
- 4/5
All staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The location was the most important thing to me to be close to the hospital. That and I needed the price to be under $200. I will return the next time.
- 3/5
Clean and quiet room. Soft bed. Good for a motor inn.

The woman at the front desk was very kind but very efficient!
- 5/5
Old school Palo Alto. This motel's probably been here for 60 years. But the lady was nice at the front desk and the room smells clean
- 4/5
Great hosts at check in
- 5/5
The staff is SO nice! The older rooms are clean and everything works fine, which makes for a comfortable stay. We will always stay at the Stanford Motor Inn when get medical care from Stanford!
- 4/5
Old but clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Everyone was so nice and ready for anything we needed help with. Would return anytime we are in the area.
- 5/5
Haven’t had breakfast yet, but staff were super nice and very helpful
- 3/5
The staff was excellent. Check-in and check-out were handled politely and professionally. However, the motel itself was very outdated. The carpet was new, and the room smelled clean, but everything else was so outdated. It was hard to plug in my phone charger because every outlet had an old power strip full of things already plugged into it. The TV only worked when you signed in to the apps with your own passwords. Otherwise, you can't watch TV. The bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. I woke up with a backache. It felt kinda like spending the night at your grandma's house, and she lives in a house that was built in the 50's that had never been renovated. It's mostly clean, but not comfortable to sleep in.
- 2/5
Someone’s tv was on all night I had trouble sleeping tried to call office but phone didn’t work had trouble sleeping
- 5/5
Extremely unhealthy breakfast. Kind of goes with the territory as a retro experience. I like it.
- 4/5
The room was small but cozy. The gentleman at the front desk was a very nice person.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, quiet area, friendly staff and plenty of parking
- 3/5
The bed was not comfortable, the bottom sheet didn’t reach the end of the bed. The toilet wobbled. The fan in the bathroom didn’t work. We had to ask for more clean glasses and washclothes. But, it was quiet.
- 5/5
very friendly office staff, efficient cleaning staff and very close to Stanford Hospital, which is why we are here.
- 5/5
Excellent friendly staff. Great location for Stanford medical facilities. Clean and safe. Pet friendly.
- 5/5
You should not expect a luxury hotel. It is a clean, honest hotel in the middle of one of the most expensive places on the planet. What really sets this place apart is the staff. They are so warm and friendly that it immediately sets you at ease. I cannot say enough nice things about this place. Nearly 20 years ago, when we were starting our organization at Stanford, we came here. Over the years, we have always come back. Even as we have grown, this is my favorite place to stay near Stanford. Thank you to the whole team!
- 3/5
Adequate but not great
- 5/5
Super friendly staff. I stay there every time I need a place to stay. It’s clean, quit, has a microwave and a refrigerator. It meets all my needs!
- 4/5
Office very helpful. Pool was closed for repair, got an email ahead about it.
- 3/5
Con: Didn’t sleep all that well. Noise from El Camino Real & bed needed an upgrade.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and the room was great. The bed was extremely comfortable. Also, room was very quiet. Will definitely stay there again.
- 1/5
No real air conditioner, noisy, pool closed because it was unsafe for use. Explained to check-in staff that the lodging was unacceptable and we could not stay there. The staff person agreed to cancel the reservation and refund our money but over a week later, still have not received the refund. Messaged the property multiple times but no response. HORRIBLE PLACE THAT STEALS YOUR MONEY - DO NOT STAY!
- 4/5
While I was there room served it’s purpose, needed to sleep while wife was at Stanford hospital.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean atmosphere, parked at the door to my room, perfect! PET FRIENDLY TOO
- 4/5
A little outdate. Noise air conditioning
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
I like the place is small but cozy
- 3/5
This is an old property and somewhat run down. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable if you like a soft bed. The air conditioning was effective but noisy when it continually recycled. Fortunately it was cool enough that I could turn off the cooling function. It is okay if you are on a budget, however, I would pay a little more for a little better.
- 5/5
Great stay in Palo Alto-close to the sights and parks of the area for family entertainment and then the concert at Stanford. For the overall cost, the property was great and quiet and we appreciated the drink service in the lobby area and free breakfast.
- 4/5
Simple but ok

Great!
- 2/5
Room was clean and staff was great. Bed was very firm and uncomfortable, AC took hours to cool down room in a heat wave and we were also right above a smoking section with an infant. Our door wouldn’t open unless you pulled the handle in a very specific way. Breakfast was some pastries, granola bars, oatmeal, and coffee/juice.
- 3/5
Nice paintings but rooms need updating.
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
The bedding was terrible cheap polyester sheets that were uncomfortable and didn’t breathe. People upstairs literally were running, slamming doors, moving furniture for hours.
- 3/5
Just an average overpriced hotel in a sketchy neighborhood
- 3/5
I don't want to give a bad review, but the owners are struggling to "improve" this old motel and they just have terrible taste. (My opinion) The room is old. It seems to cater to construction workers on remote jobs - they sit around all evening on a patio and talk loudly (and topics not cool if you had kids around) into the night. Same early in the morning. The owners are extremely friendly and are very proud of the place. I don't want to dampen their enthusiasm or be overly critical - So, I'll just say the price is great.
- 3/5
The staff was very warm and welcoming. The property was old and outdated.
- 4/5
Great service.

Stanford Motor Inn is our go-to when we're staying in the area. Staff is very helpful and friendly, and we have a quiet stay.

- 5/5
Staff was so helpful. Area not so good
- 4/5
Need a clean, solid place and this was perfect. At 50% of the price of neighboring places, the value was ideal. Super friendly guy at check-in, was offered a bottle of water for the room, and in/out of lobby in 2 minutes. Even though the place has sort of old vibe, it was just fine. Only issue is heater in room did not seem to respond to temperature settings, was just on/off. But place was comfy all night
- 4/5
Clean room, all nessities.
- 2/5
Very nice staff but facilities need upgrading, electrical wiring looks dangerous, minimal amenities
- 5/5
Having had to travel out of state for medical care, needless to say I was not in “vacation mode” when we arrived after a long drive. We were kindly greeted and checked in promptly. The rooms are not perfect but are clean, comfortable, and the hotel’s location to Stanford is ideal. We will stay here again without a doubt.
- 4/5
Nice place, a bit vintage but not unexpected.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful! Came back to a clean and neat room every night.
- 4/5
The hotel is a little run down but it served our purpose. Close to Stanford hospital for an overnight stay. Staff is very friendly.
- 3/5
Stayed one night for a business trip. It was older and didn't feel very clean. It was fine for a one night stay.
- 5/5
Great all around!
- 5/5
The stay was comfortable and was an easy drive to Stanford. Restaurants were easy walking distance. Its an older property, but what was nice was the interaction with the staff. Both check in and check out clerks were kind and accommodating. Nice people are my favorite people.
- 4/5
Staff service was exceptional. It was a cold night and I was getting in late, and Neil, the desk clerk, went to my assigned room and turned on the heater for me prior to arrival. This is my go-to hotel for this area.
- 3/5
Nice staff, really nice actually. It’s just old and has the window heater/AC units and they are really loud. No sheets and pillows are old. You get what you pay for but again staff was awesome
- 4/5
Great location. Staff were nice. But my card was charged $30 for a cup of coffee they said was complementary.
- 4/5
The room was clean. The staff was very nice. I would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, friendly staff. Neal was especially helpful - I requested an upstairs room and he went out of his way to give me and my friend a spacious upstairs room.
- 3/5
The room felt a bit dated. Our room had new-looking, white duvet covers on the beds. But the bottom (flat) sheet on the bed moved around when you slept, creating a lot of wrinkles (I don't like sleeping on rumpled sheets). Plus, the bottom sheet was just a bit too short, so my feet kept contacting the blanket that they placed under the bottom sheet (which was not a pleasant feeling). All of this could have been solved if they had just used a larger flat sheet for the bottom sheet. The bathroom was decent - the shower water pressure was good and the water got hot quickly. The room also had a microwave oven and refrigerator. The people in the office were pleasant, and they offer packaged pastries and granola bars in the morning. Overall, I'd say that this is a decent, budget motel. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
- 4/5
Bed was too soft for me
- 3/5
Low p[riced for a reason, but it was safe and parking was plentiful. Most rooms have larger beds but I selected the lowest rate for the room with 2 twin beds. I slept in one, and it was good enough. However, I could hear the guest snoring in the room above mine.

I needed a place to stay when a conference hotel overbooked; Stanford Motor Inn was inexpensive and convenient. It’s definitely an older style of motel but the staff is exceptionally pleasant and friendly, and the rooms are clean and well-maintained.
- 5/5
Very comfortable. Quiet with friendly staff.
- 3/5
Do not like the creaky floor room 121.
- 4/5
The staff made the stay great. This is an older property, but clean. There is no elevator, which is good to know. There was coffee, microwave and mini fridge in the room.
- 5/5
I liked the friendly staff, the convenient location and it was very clean.
- 4/5
Okay this is a hotel from the '60's but is in a nice and convenient location (on bus 22 route 1.5 miles to Stanford) and close to many restaurants from Thai, French, Italian, of course Mexican and more. Walkable to California Ave where many restaurants are on a closed street. Had a good time and staff very pleasant.
- 1/5
I was put in room 133 which is right next to Camino real street. At approximately 1230 AM heavy construction started on Camino Real and lasted almost all night long. There was no way to sleep at all. The Stanford motor lodge should reimburse me in total for the absolute worst lodging experience in my life
- 3/5
The bed linen, toilets, and surfaces were clean. Room carpet was filthy and sticky; and the rooms in general was falling apart. They are a genial host and the place has made effort to be upbeat with wall murals and nooks, but the general level of maintenance os abysmal.
- 3/5
Very old and dated property. It needs a lot of repair. The check in was easy and nice. The low price reflected the overall condition of the hotel.
- 5/5
A good place to stay
- 5/5
No frills but clean and affordable.
- 5/5
The staff is always great. We've stayed multiple times here. Beds arereally comfortable.
- 3/5
The location is good for my purpose, but other things are just ok.
- 3/5
Desk staff was very nice but in the room tub faucet ran all night, bed was rock hard. AC was loud and cycled on and off frequently, and continental breakfast wasnt attractive or worth the calories
- 5/5
Extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. The Fridge and MW were very useful, but it's time to update the TVs to smart TVs for streaming.
- 5/5
Clean nice rooms
- 5/5
Staff was great. It is an older property, but well kept and the bed was comfy.
- 4/5
some repairs needed. Our fridge door did not close properly

- 5/5
Good people there.
- 4/5
Desk staff very nice and helpful.
- 1/5
The room was very hot we were uable to sleep. The air conditioning was place in the wrong place because it was not cooling the room at all. I will not stay there again.
- 4/5
Sketchy guests
- 5/5
Staff was super polite and helpful.
- 5/5
Just needed a place to stay overnight while having a procedure done at the medical center.
- 5/5
Very nice people ❤️
- 5/5
Would stay again based on staff and cleanliness
- 5/5
This is a classic old school motel, with each room painted with custom art. You can see it is many years old, but for us it is indeed "excellent." A breath of fresh normalcy in the otherwise bizarre Palo Alto landscape.
- 5/5
Enclosed,should be safe.
- 2/5
Bathroom was soaking wet because the upstairs room leaks down. I was told that it always happens. It was treated as though it was a normal occurrence.
- 2/5
The front desk staff tried very hard to support, but should not have been put in that situation.
- 4/5
Good value and convenient location. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Our home had no electricity for 3 days during a major storm. We have a dog so the hotel choices were limited. The people at the front desk were lovely, comfortable beds and warm showers were all we needed. We were close to food as well which was great!
- 2/5
The staff was great. Didn’t like the rug, which was filthy. Everything connected with extension cords. Furnishings old and grubby. Bed uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff. Room nicer than places that charge twice as much. Would stay there again.
- 1/5
there was poop smeared all over toilet and on handle
- 5/5
It was a nice convenient place . The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only negative was the mattress.
- 5/5
Staff is so friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Going to Stanford, its on the main drag. Always a nice place to stay with great staff.
- 4/5
The inn keepers where very nice
- 5/5
Older motel but very comfortable. Very nice managers who made us feel welcome.
- 4/5
This place does not offer a plush environment, but it’s highly functional, very close to Stanford’s campus and my go-to hotel for matters in the Palo Alto area.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, affordable place with nice staff. Groovy old place. Nice to have a mini fridge and microwave.
- 5/5
I wasn’t sure about this place bc I’d never heard of it and I usually stay at a very good hotel chain. Needless to say, I was very impressed with everything here. The owners are super nice and accommodating, very clean and comfortable beds, and it was half the cost of my usual hotel!! I’ll definitely stay here again!!
- 5/5
It was amazing and family friendly. It was exactly what my family needed, it was really a home away from home. The staff were so friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast. The cleaning including changing of bedings were done everyday.
- 5/5
They were very hospitable, making you feel welcomed. Property was older but well maintained. The room was large and had everything you would need.
- 5/5
We stayed for hospital procedure . The hotel is old and need of some up dates . How ever it was quiet clean and the front desk was wonderful will stay again.
- 5/5
Great service and well-equipped room with a comfortable bed.
- 5/5
Loved the pool. No chlorine smell and the water was the perfect temperature. Best family owned motel ever
- 5/5
My stay began with the warmest welcome from the front desk staff. After I settled into my small, cramped but clean and comfortable room, I immersed myself in the warm waters of the small pool. I had a very hard time convincing myself to get out of the pool because the water was perfect. My room was away from the busy thoroughfare, so I never heard any street noise. The bed and pillows felt like sleeping on a warm cloud. The motel itself is an old facility with some recent upgrades. It is priced correctly for what it offers. I will stay again for sure!
- 5/5
Older hotel renovated well. Cute outdoor murals. Succulent variety. Staff was so friendly. Pillows and bed comfortable with nice shower. We will return on next Stanford visit.
- 4/5
Lack of daily maid service.
- 4/5
Staff was excellent. Extremely helpful and friendly. Very clean non smoking room. Pricing was similar to nearby hotels that were much newer and or more recently renovated. The room layout with two doubles was a little odd with one bed partially blocking the entry to the washroom and bathroom. It is a neat little place though and it looks like they’re just trying to make the most of a facility that was built a long time ago. Which for me is ok. The parking is a little tight if you’ve got a larger vehicle. Good stay and really not too loud for being right on the edge of el Camino. Not top of the list for the price but I wouldn’t be apposed to staying again.
- 4/5
Handy location. Beautiful flowering vines around the pool. Clean, comfortable, friendly service. Simple continental breakfast. El Camino Real is very busy but nice neighborhood side streets to walk around. Check out the outdoor restaurants on California ave.
- 5/5
Good location to hospital. Mostly affordable.

Neil in the office was wonderful, not only was he inviting but gave me information on where to walk to eat and where I would be going for my appointment.

The location was perfect for our business. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a cute and comfy place with a great bed. Good value for the price. Simple breakfast provided, but close to a full breakfast restaurant. We will be returning.

We live locally but were without power for nearly 60 hours. After two cold nights at home, we checked in to the Stanford Motor Inn to get warm. It is an older motel with basic amenities, but it was clean and comfortable at a reasonable price.
