Reviews
The hotel is praised for its great location, comfortable rooms, and helpful staff. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the mandatory valet parking fee and the destination fees. The hotel's proximity to various attractions and the riverfront is appreciated, but the high cost of parking and additional fees are seen as downsides.

Good The staff the lady that checked us in Jamie or something at the front desk around 5:30 pm on the right side desk can’t remember her name was rude I told her we came for my wife birthday and anniversary and asked if we can get some wine or acknowledgment for checking in and was told that she would do something special for the occasion but didn’t do anything for us that day but got extra bills for upgrades and no discounts for M pass lounge and in the past was greeted more nicer and professionally than her

Everyone at the front desk was super nice and accommodating. They clearly love their city and wants to ensure that all visitors enjoy their stay

Over priced Our bed ( mattress) was like something from The Goodwill. Very old and bumpy, VERY BUMPY!! The noise At 1:30 out side ( and we were on the 11th floor) I think the trash was being picked up and it was soooo loud. It took a while to go back to sleep. I realize it was a championship weekend, but kids were play hide a go seek in the lobby and at one point we were having coffee and the kids hide behind our chairs.

We stay at Marriott all the time, but this time was the worst.

Room clean. Bed comfortable. Valet parking crazy busy
- 3/5
No free parking. No free WiFi. No free breakfast. No microwave. Just something to keep in mind.
- 4/5
There was a lot of lobby noise with 40 plus 4th and 5th graders running around. Unusual that they would be allowed to make so much commotion in the lobby both the evening we arrived the n the next morning when we left. Also attended an event and wanted to inquire about heels I accidentally left at event. The attendant was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I asked for the manager and he was great and was able to locate and return my heels.

Clean room.

Lounge is a bit dated, could use a refresh clean to make it brighter looking. Disappointed there was no complementary cocktail service during the appetizer service. Usually it’s offered at most hotels and their executive lounges. Front lobby/ guest check-in the stag was helpful and very accommodating. Shared restaurants and activities near hotel to explore. Which we did. Wonderful advice! Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Shout out to the restaurant staff who changed TV coverage so that we could see the Derby!

After noon manager offerd to help with luggage After I was pleading the front desk for help because Hal Browning is 81 disabled can bearly walk with his cane , and I am 73 and have COPD making it difficult to walk short distances with out suffering low oxigen. Front desk was not going to send assistance for our luggage despite my explanation of our handi caps After extensively pleading a house cleaner did bring a cart for us but only dropped it off leaving me to load and push it to the valet. THEY HAVE NO BELL SERVICE The coffee maker is a old motel six filter bag type most likely because they have espresso store in there lobby. The bar/restraunt only 9 items not a venue one might expect for a fancy down town hotel it is in the bar area no class at all. The bartender frowned the entire time even after getting a smile and nice greating from me. My Manhattan came in a old champaign stem glass served UP ,,,,I had to ask for a short tumbler glass and ice, the way I like it. THE ROOM HAD HARDLY ANY FURNITUTE what was there is the cheapest avaliable, No table one chair. It was a dive motel with unfriendly staff do your self a favor and BOOK SOME PLACE ELSE

Excellent location, convenient coffee shop and restaurant. Walkable to the waterfront and shops. Easy valet service
- 5/5
The view of the river was spectacular.
- 5/5
La vista maravillosa y la comida excepcional
- 5/5
Proximity to the waterfront and Keller Auditorium is a real plus. However, its hard to believe it doesn't have a roof top bar facing the river.
- 4/5
Bec was comfortable. There were shops nearby. The hotel was clean but not many amenities. Just a gym. Convenience store was poorly stocked. Almost no gluten free choices at the restaurants in hotel.
- 4/5
The Marriott Waterfront Portland was a typical downtown stay with a nice view of the river. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The M Club lounge was available for our stay and another couple. We had heavy hors d’euorvers in the evening and a nice breakfast buffet in the mornings during our stay. We did have to pay for cocktails/ beer, which hasn’t always been the case- typically beer & wine has been free, but it looks like that has now changed. The staff was welcoming and friendly and we were able to have a late checkout, which was nice. I would recommend this hotel for its convenient location and friendly staff.

Proximity to places. Nothing else was impressive Small room even though we chose 2 adults and 2 kids space was barely good for one person. Just one chair so very hard to relax without being in bed. We couldn't enjoy ordered meals because there was no seat for both to sit.

The resturaunt was not open in the morning for breakfast

Ridiculous charges
- 3/5
I got a river view room, the walls were so thin I could hear everything from the adjacent room. I had to turn on the television to stop hearing the noises.
- 1/5
They also charged for Wi-Fi access.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
It was perfect and still is!

Staff was great, room was very comfortable, and restaurants were delightful. Did not appreciate the mandatory $30 destination fee, however.

- 4/5
Good views and location. Security was visible and made us feel safe.
- 5/5
Loved the comfortable shower seat in the accessible room, and the view of the river—and it was fun watching a self-propelled green sofa pass by in the bike lane.
- 3/5
No breakfast
- 5/5
Quick and friendly from valet to front desk check in, great room overlooking the Willamette River and picturesque Bridges
- 4/5
However, for the price, the room amenities were very limited or lacking; it felt cheap. Most hotels at this price provide: fans in the bathroom so your fellow travelers can't hear and smell you; small grooming packets with Q-tips; makeup mirrors; extra blankets; more coffee packets and real cream packets. Also, starting to remove the food from the M lounge at 9:30 doesn't allow travelers to sleep in and take advantage of the buffet. Would suggest 11AM, esp. on weekends.
- 2/5
uncomfortable bed with no in room amenities such as water, shower cap etc.
- 5/5
Perfect as always!
- 5/5
Very close to everything we wanted to enjoy on our trip. We valeted our car and walked everywhere!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Walk in shower and the view out the window could see mt hood. Someone somewhere out side was shooting fireworks so that was a little annoying but that time of year is expected I guess
- 5/5
Such a nice hotel near the Willamette river, definitely going again!
- 3/5
A bit run down. Bar doesn't open til 4pm. Breakfast was very good. Location was good.
- 5/5
Convenient to downtown Portland.
- 3/5
all great
- 5/5
We loved the experience. The staff was great and very helpful including Raith Arroyo who had great suggestions about places to visit and the best way to get to them.
- 2/5
Fee for internet, “Destination Fee” of $30 Valet Fees …..oh my☹️
- 5/5
Amazing hotel and I happen to be there over the 4th of July and had a balcony so I could see and hear the Blues festival and amazing fireworks over the water. But what i loved most was the staff who gave amazing recommendations and helped make my stay awesome.
- 4/5
Facilities great. Parking my SUV at $58 per night was outrageous.
- 5/5
The staff was helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Location is great
- 5/5
Great location and wonderful restaurant and coffee shop.
- 3/5
Ok
- 3/5
Parking is expensive. Valet parking is expensive . Rooms are small. You can hear the people next door.
- 5/5
It was beautiful and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
We staye3d in the same room we have on our first night or marriage 40 years ago. It was just as nice today as it was then.
- 5/5
Nice room had a view of the river had a pleasant stay
- 5/5
Great location. You can walk to everything. River view was amazing. I would highly recommend it. Staff as friendly. I have zero complaints. I would stay here again
- 5/5
We had a great time downtown Portland. The hotel was convenient for everything that we were doing. The staff were really friendly. I wish we had known that we had $30 food credit each day. We didn't find out until day 2.
- 1/5
Dirty blankets staff not help
- 5/5
This hotel was in a beauiful location with easy access to the Keller auditorium just around the corner. Valet parking only but the price is comparable to other parking facilities in the area plus after reading the reviews of other parking places I found them to be mostly negative. The staff at Marriott are happy and cheerful and are willing to go that extra mile to meet your needs. Our room was clean and beautiful also. The ONLY negative I had was the in-room coffee maker. The coffee is terrible but fear not, if you're an early riser the coffee shop in the lobby area opens at 6am with a large variety of coffees and breakfast items for you to choose from!

My name is Patricia. I feel they overcharged me, making up all different charges Designation fees. No hot tub, swimming pools. I never heard of. I will never go to that Marriott again. It was my birthday that weekend. I spent to much money for nothing. I pick the wrong Marrriot. I want my money back. Have a blessed day.🙏 Thank you! 😊
- 4/5
Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
- 4/5
They would not let me check in until my husband arrived and showed his ID. Our account is in both names
- 3/5
quiet
- 2/5
The parking situation is annoying.
- 5/5
Very Clean. Wondetful View of the river! Will definitely stay herr again
- 4/5
Very nice hotel right across from riverfront. Clean hotel and room with attentive and helpful staff. Only negative is lack of sound proofing on windows. Hence a lot of city noise.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location. Very clean very safe and comfortable. Parking was crazy expensive but there is an alternative next door for half price. The only downside the restraint inside “Proof Reader” was not good at all. But overall great place to stay.
- 5/5
I love everything about this hotel. I stayed here while my husband underwent liver transplant at OHSU and the staff took great care of me. They were all so helpful and kind. They checked in with me daily. The food was amazing also. The location was amazing and the view was just the therapy I needed after spending days at the hospital.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Room service was excellent.
- 5/5
Really friendly staff nice and on-site restaurant, friendly bartender close to some decent amenities
- 5/5
Great hotel, beautiful!
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Perfect location, across the street from the Blues Fest.
- 5/5
Delicious food. Lentil soup bread and elk bolognese delish.
- 3/5
Our room was noisy (outside noise) though we were on an upper floor. Minimal amenities in the room for the price point.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff friendly
- 2/5
The hotel was average. No better or worse than anywhere else you would stay, but the restaurant is terrible! Would definitely not recommend.
- 3/5
The stay itself was fine, ending the stay however could have went better when we were told we could pay separately for our valet then to be told by the valet it gets charged to the room.
- 5/5
Cost to park was a bit high ($54) but not unexpected for the area.
- 3/5
Rooms are not large enough given the price tag, Vallet parking too high and parking on 24 feet less than vallet. I will not stay there next time.
- 5/5
Great location friendly staff and very clean room. Every staff member that I came in contact with was amazing
- 5/5
Love it here !!! Words can’t explain
- 3/5
The noise of AC was too loud
- 5/5
Great stay downtown with beautiful views!
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Coffee shop inside the hotel and restaurant and bar
- 5/5
Nice place, great staff.
- 4/5
Enjoyed our stay in general but there wasn't an option to self park instead of valet which cost more than we expected.
- 3/5
The fridge didn't work. Your valet staff was not very pleasant to help. The shower pressure was horrible
- 5/5
Very comfortable beds! Best to review parking options before you arrive unless you plan on using valet parking.
- 1/5
When I booked room with Cityview, but the photo as attachment show you what is a city view hotel offered me.
- 5/5
Friendly service from all
- 4/5
The property was great. I didn’t expect to get charged an additional $500 for an upper level room specially, when I asked what the upcharge was and was never told… I was just told I was upgraded and got my room key…
- 5/5
Excellent, staff is friendly and accommodating. Very clean rooms, excellent dining options. Perfect downtown location just steps from the river walk, shops, dining and entertainment. Marriott, excellent as always!
- 5/5
Great hotel with friendly helpful staff. Comfy beds, nice showers and great views of the river.
- 4/5
Netflix and youtube weren't available and no effort made to fix situation. My car was damaged while in valet parked garage. Excellent location for blues festival.
- 5/5
Helpful staff.
- 5/5
across the street from Blues Fest and fireworks
- 5/5
We were able to check in 2 hrs early, and have 1 hr later check out. Our room was clean, modern & comfortable. Would stay here again! Had a great restaurant excellent breakfast. Also has room service & bar & coffee shop
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. We booked a river view room for the blues festival, location and views were the key. Hotel was wonderful. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice. Parking was a bit pricey. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice. Parking was a bit pricey. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
It's a clean, nice hotel, located conveniently close to Tom McCall waterfront park. The staff is polite and attentive to your needs. It has a nice little café for coffee and food. The restaurant was okay for breakfast. I didn't eat lunch/dinner there. It's a little more expensive than other places, but it's nice and in a good location for attending events at the park.
- 4/5
Hotel staff is great, beds are sleepable and whatever you need is in walking distance! If you’re attending a waterfront event, this is the place to stay!
- 5/5
Came for a punk show and was really happy with the hotel. Staff was great! Bed was comfortable enough to get decent sleep. I would definitely stay again! The only down side is parking. We stayed for 2 days and didn’t use our vehicle at all but still had to pay $50 for valet parking both nights.
- 5/5
Appeared to be very clean.
- 5/5
Nice hotel on the Willamette river in downtown Portland. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. I liked the location of the hotel because it was in walking distance of the Waterfront Park Trail, the Portland Saturday Market and downtown restaurants and bars. There is a bit of a homeless problem in downtown Portland, but I never felt unsafe or threatened. My wife and I would walk everywhere during the day and take an Uber at night. For day trips I recommend the Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls Tour, Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach, the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood.
- 2/5
We had checked in for a memorial service, with the first two days under a group booking for the service and one final day so that we could go to a grand-niece’s graduation party. We left the room around noon the third day, removed the privacy sign and put it inside, and returned around 10:00 PM to find our room had not be cleaned even though the housekeeping cart was parked outside our door when we left. It was a complete breakdown in service and a disappointment to find when we returned to the room later that night. Management’s response was “we’ll tell the housekeeping staff”. Completely unacceptable in my book.
- 4/5
College tours nearby. Quick one night, great meal nearby. Hotel front desk and valet service was great.
- 5/5
Had a great time 😊
- 5/5
Great stay for the one night. Room clean.
- 5/5
We had a great stay, I only wish parking was included in your stay
- 4/5
Hotel needs an update
- 5/5
Great location, very enjoyable, coffee shop, good restaurant, and bar.
- 5/5
I have stayed here on two visits to Portland and it is a wonderful hotel. In the summer, it is walkable to the Portland Saturday Market. I also went in the fall and it is a short drive to other shopping areas. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. The on-site restaurant has excellent food as well. I will definitely stay here for my future visits to Portland.
- 5/5
Only downside was breakfast was not up to par. Eggs Benedict with lunchmeat and barely warmed or toasted muffin for more than $20 and $5 for a cup of coffee is a bit much.
- 5/5
Love this hotel, restaurants are awesome. Staff is also awesome .
- 5/5
The check in process was quick and easy, staff working the counter were very nice! Went downstairs for dinner, and the food was great.
- 5/5
A great waterfront location with a lot of choices within walking distance for food, entertainment and shopping. The in and out Valet parking option for $54 a day was super convenient. We found The room to be comfortable and quiet. We took in a concert at Keller Auditorium and walked on the waterfront to the Saturday outdoor market. There are cafés and restaurants directly across the street from this location down by the water. Or one can walk up the waterfront and into town for a variety of restaurant choices. Powells is close by and it’s a short drive to many other locations like the Pittock Mansion, Japanese Gardens, and many other attractions to make the stay worth the cost.
- 5/5
Everything was easy, the staff was very helpful. We were in walking distance to our venue. I'd stay again for sure!
- 5/5
Peak times are at 4ish pm. Clean rooms and nice service.
- 3/5
Much for parking .
- 4/5
This property was near a concert venue I was attending. I liked that I could walk safely to my event.
- 5/5
EXCELSIOR !!!
- 4/5
The hotel is in downtown which means you're near most of the places of interests (cafes, restaurants, etc). The river is in front and the walk is truly nice if you need a quick place to exercise or talk while walking). Downtown has a level of risk you take when walking around especially at night. (most cities do) In terms of safety in the building, I felt safe and relaxed. The elevator requires a room key to get around so that adds an extra measure of security. My room smelt good and contained everything I needed. The view was nice but the only issue I had was that a portion of my rooms carpets smelt awful. I noticed this when kneeling near my floor to pick a few things up. Regardless, I had a great opportunity with the $25 credit they give you to spend in the restaurant or café. I think this is a great place to come back to if I'm ever in Portland, they treated me like family.
- 4/5
Great hotel. Centrally located. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Staff and service professional and customer driven. Well staffed.
- 5/5
Arrived early and they had a room ready for me. Much appreciated. And a great view of Mt Hood.
- 5/5
Stayed in Marriott for conference. I admit did not ventured too much around hotel, I would admit it is not really walkable area
- 5/5
Great staff, great food!
- 5/5
Excellent food and drinks
- 3/5
I booked a room with "City views". My city view was room 420 with direct access from the window (which could opened) to a roof with a few pieces of garbage on it. The worst part is that since the window was at the level of the roof, anyone could have access to my room through the window which was extremely unsafe. I warn every woman wanting to stay at the Marriot Downtown Waterfront to make sure she is not in that room or the one next to it which is probably accessible too. I tried to ask for a change of room because of the beautiful garbage city view but was told that was not possible by soemone at the front desk who could not care less (and did not do anything about the garbage) I did not realize the possible danger until after I asked for a change of room so I did not try again.
- 5/5
Gorgeous view, everything was easy & low key on a gorgeous, well-kept property.
- 4/5
Room was very nice and clean. Ice machime on floor was out of service, and initially we were given incorrect room but it was resolved with a trip back down to the desk.
