Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. The breakfast, particularly the gluten-free options, is a highlight for many guests. However, parking issues and noise disturbances are common complaints.

The hotel was beautiful. Staff were friendly, helpful, and engaging. We loved everything about the amenities in our room. I felt like we didn’t need anything. The breakfast host was kind by giving out little gifts to kids at breakfast. Everything about our stay was top-notch. I highly recommend

Overall it was great.

Great pool with all kind of games for the kids. Nice patio with bbq and fire pits. Comfortable bar for dining and drinks on the evening. The hotel is quite close to union station, so you see some homeless people around

We chose Residence Inn because we were staying for 5 days and wanted to be able to stay where there are comfortable beds, a kitchen and cooking tools to cook a few meals, and a safe environment. Residence Inn met all the criteria. It was in a higher-end area of Portland, and there were no homeless people in our vicinity. The streets and sidewalks were clean. We felt safe. The valet service always went above and beyond to help us as well. They were great. Front desk was great, all staff were great. Room was good size. The downsides of our particular room include: 1. The shower would not freely drain and so we were left standing in an inch of water when showering and then it took a while for the shower to drain completely. We didn't say anything to management because it's a hassle. And we don't want to be hassled, especially while we are staying there. 2. The complimentary breakfast was terrible, terrible, terrible. It was the same canned, stale, watered down food that you get at most hotels where breakfast is provided. 3. The bed wasn't super comfortable, but it wasn't super uncomfortable either. The fitted sheets wouldn't stay on and the bed was medium to firm. I woke with hip pains the next morning which is why I try to avoid firm mattresses. 4. The hotel was clean everywhere until Friday and then the place looked like a dump. The floors needed swept and vacuumed, dirty handprints everywhere. It even looked like someone peed on the wall in the elevator. It was very busy over the weekend and I'm sure the staff were working hard, but they didn't keep up on the weekends as far as the common areas.
- 5/5
It was so clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
Our stay was great! Very clean and safe, which was great because I was very leary about staying in Portland. The room was great and the free breakfast was good, not amazing, but good enough. We recently decided to go back to staying in hotels, after staying in Airbnb's for the last few years, the quality of Airbnb's has declined significantly, so our stay at this hotel has reinforced our decision to go back to hotels. Great location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Everything was exceptional
- 5/5
Clean and nice comfortable N/A
- 4/5
Breakfast menu was repetitive and The stay was overall good, but the bathroom design was inconvenient. The shower did not have a proper door or barrier to keep the water contained, so water would spill all over the bathroom floor after every shower. It made the bathroom messy and slippery.
- 5/5
This is a very spacious and modern hotel. We love the courtyard of the hotel. Overall, it is rated as five stars one!
- 5/5
We had a suite that was large and had great views. We were close to where we needed to be. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking not convenient but valet system works- just have to plan ahead.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location provided us with a great launch point to explore Portland.
- 5/5
The room was very comfortable and the breakfast very good and it was a great value
- 5/5
My family and I had a great experience staying here. Will definitely be returning
- 4/5
We only stayed one night but we were happy with our stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms very clean and comfortable. Loved the dimmed bathroom light at night, but the smoke alarm’s flashing light was a little annoying.
- 4.5/5
Great location, great value when booked in advance, friendly staff, lots of space in the rooms, well equipped kitchenette, plenty of street parking.

- 5/5
It was great id go back again
- 5/5
The staff was always professional and accommodating. My family and I noticed that from our first day. We will definitely be staying here again.
- 5/5
I booked this room because it was close to the Amtrak station. Room was clean, spacious, came with a refrigerator and dishwasher. Breakfast had a nice selection of foods: eggs, oatmeal, juices and coffees. It was a bit of a way from downtown Portland but completely walkable. Staff were excellent and super helpful. I love the Pearl District so I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great, the room was excellent. Nice area very accessible.
- 5/5
Clean room with essential kitchen items. Even a night light in the bathroom so you don't blind yourself in the middle of the night! Not a fan of the pillows though, they end up flattening out over night.
- 3/5
The room is clean. Pool is really bad. Small, extremely salty pool water. Feel itchy and has rash after swimming.
- 5/5
Great location, great hotel, great city All was good
- 5/5
Breakfast was great! Clean rooms and comfy bed!
- 5/5
Polite and extremely helpful staff.
- 2/5
Chipped cups Nothing was discussed upon check in about extra charges.
- 5/5
Bathtubs are just not as friendly as walk in showers.
- 5/5
Great location, rooms, and service
- 5/5
The hotel itself was great! Salt water pool, big rooms for families, great staff, and good breakfast in the morning. The only thing was the location/condition of the area around the hotel was a little run down, and there was quite a bit of homeless. There was no private/underground parking, so I didn't really want to park our car that was full of home remodeling stuff. Nothing happened, and it was a great stay, but this could be an issue for someone.
- 5/5
Very courteous helpful staff
- 4/5
Weekday breakfast only went til 9a
- 5/5
Great stay with a great hotel and staff! Thank you!
- 1/5
There was a human in the breakfast food area who ‘smelled of urine’. His hygiene was appalling. We could smell this person across the other side of a large dining area. His speech was rambling. He was touching items (food) in the food serving area. The food, now contaminated was not removed. Security followed this person around but did nothing. This human should not have been in the area where food was made available for paying guests.
- 5/5
My son and i enjoyed the pool for sure and breakfast was nice we arrived a little late.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Everything! Great location and great place to stay at. I would definitely stay again! .
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, breakfast was delicious, room was perfect. Walking distance to Moda Center (easy walk- 10/15 minutes)- we will stay here everytime we come to Portland.
- 5/5
The room and hotel was very clean, breakfast was excellent, family friendly, nice property to walk, full length mirror, comfortable room, nice amenities, affordable street parking available, and friendly staff. There are yellow metal sheets that run the length of the windows, obscuring the views. The pool is small and there is not hot tub.
- 5/5
Nice clean hotel. Friendly staff. Great food
- 5/5
The beds are really hard
- 4/5
Staff was great room was clean slept great had a small birthday celebration for my daughter it was nice be better if there were some closer stores n parking was a bit expensive but great stay
- 5/5
Pleasure to stay
- 3/5
Everything in the room was good.
- 5/5
Clean, modern suite, great breakfast and friendly staff, great location
- 2/5
The location was good and the room was big. When we got to the room there was someone else’s hair in the bathroom shower, on the sink in the bathroom and on top of the dresser. It was very off putting. The shampoo and conditioner was really rough getting out you had to pump several times. The shower didn’t have a door, just one wall and it leaked water all over the floor. The valet took too long to get our vehicle and the updates were spotty.
- 5/5
Clean and new. Nothing.
- 4/5
I gave 4 stars. The lobby and room were clean and inviting. The staff were attentive and friendly. The pool was really small and felt like an after thought. The complementary breakfast was fully stocked and offered tons of variety. The staff for the breakfast refilled any items that needed attention and gave our 8 yr old and 1 yr old little toys both days. My major issue was the valet here was an after thought, not well designed or managed. I had to park my car after paying for valet and then wait for a staff member to take my keys before I was able to go up to my hotel room. I requested that one of my nights for valet be compt and they did. I attempted to use the restaurant, but the app didn’t work and when i called to place my order i was unable to. Otherwise the stay was pleasant.
- 5/5
Hot tub hours need to be later for adults only
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff!
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff, good buffet breakfast.
- 5/5
Room was clean, only one tissue was in tissue box and one roll of TP but not a big deal. Used the cream and it was spoiled
- 4/5
We stay at the Residence Inn in the Pearl often. Clean and comfortable, with hospitable and friendly staff. It's in a great location for travelers and it's within walking distance of some fabulous eateries. We are comfortable walking in this neighborhood in the day and after dark. We would recommend this lodging.
- 5/5
Great customer service, valet parking, amenities. 10/10

Gracious front desk and valet person
- 1/5
We left our first hotel because the pool was down the whole weekend and we were not told. So expedia called the hotel and we received a full refund. Leaving upset and in a rush to find a hotel my wife accidentally booked the 17-19 and instead of 16-18 which we needed. When we called expedia and told them the situation they called the hotel and the front desk ckerk said the manager would not give us a refund like the first hotel did the first time. She literally booked and canceled within a half hour and they told us they wouldnt refund us. Absolutely upset that they wouldnt help us out. So think twice about booking this hotel. We couldn't book another hotel for the weekend because they wouldn't refund us. Absolute horrible experience.

- 5/5
This was a great hotel stay for myself and my 7 year old. We were in walking distance to all the attractions we came to see and loved being able to walk anywhere we'd like. The room was spotless, and the cleaning staff even tucked in my child's stuffed animal which made him super happy. Staff was all welcoming and helpful. Would recommend to a friend and would stay again!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and quick to respond to any issue we had
- 5/5
Nice size suite. Everyone was nice and helpful. My family enjoyed the indoor pool. Breakfast had a great variety and was very good. I would definitely go back.
- 5/5
This hotel is wonderful

Nice place. Close to the Amtrak station
- 4/5
Really late check in the room wasn’t available until late.
- 5/5
Good breakfast and good room layout
- 5/5
Yes it was very nice. Appreciated that we didn't have to stop for breakfast on our way home.
- 5/5
Wanda was extremely friendly and helpful at breakfast. The gentlemen checking us in (possibly Kenny?) was also incredibly friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Thank you
- 5/5
Our stay was great! The place was clean and conveniently located near everything we needed. The room was perfect for our family and worked wonderfully with my dog as well.
- 2/5
They missed cleaning my room 2 times
- 5/5
Great continental breakfast
- 5/5
Valet service is great My only negative was I didnt feel safe walking around the area as the homeless situation here is concerning
- 5/5
The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The room was nice and free breakfast!
- 5/5
Yes all good
- 5/5
Spacious rooms, attentive staff, excellent condition, and good walking index!
- 5/5
Luna was so helpful and friendly! After a long drive they were a breath of fresh air.
- 4/5
Very accommodating to our early arrival and anniversary
- 5/5
Loved the stay! Everyone was friendly and everything was great!
- 1/5
Breakfast was good for being complimentary. The pool is small and no hot tub. Gym was decent. However, I had booked a room to accommodate 5 people. We paid for a 1 bedroom with two queens and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was incredibly cheap and low quality. No one should be laying down on this bed. It was all sharp springs. They offered to give us more comforters that were paper thin and made no difference. We asked to switch rooms or have something done for this extra bed that we needed. Nothing was done because we booked 3rd party through Expedia. We slept with 3 people in one queen and 2 in the other because the sofa bed was not safe. In that case I would have paid less for a regular room and saved half of what I paid. Marriott offered me 5000 points lol which is laughable. Expedia was nice enough to compensate a tiny bit for the inconvenience. Which was nice. Overall, the hotel could’ve done more to make us comfortable during our 3 night stay. But they didn’t. Pretty disappointing.
- 4/5
Everything was great, except the mattress on the sofa bed (needs to be replaced, it was unusable).
- 5/5
Variety in breakfast and room was spacious. Kitchen with stove and fridge. Nice experience.
- 5/5
Clean hotel, great location, friendly staff.
- 5/5
2 Queen Suite was great for family. Nice to be able to cook late night food in the kitchen for kids after night out. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good enough to get us on the road.
- 5/5
We stayed at the King suite. Very large rooms, well equipped and maintained. Front desk made a very good job in assisting us in any issue - from stay extension to local recommendations. The only drawback is the lack of parking that is solved by a $52/ day valet service - which also very attentive and efficient.
- 5/5
This was a great location for a show at Moda Center. It was about a mile walk but was only like one block to get to the bridge to cross the river, and then after the bridge, we were basically there! We felt safe making that walk too even at 11:00 at night. It was also about a half mile walk into the area with some more restaurants, Powell's etc. All in all, it was a great location for us. The included breakfast was also quite tasty: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, a waffle station, yogurt and general other continental breakfast items. I do recommend just parking in the train station garage. Using SpotHero, that was only $15 for 24 hours compared to the $55 valet at the hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, friendly staff excellent accommodations would definitely stay there again
- 5/5
There was only one thing that I think needs to be changed. The 3 large photographs opposite the elevators were offensive to me, as someone who experienced an urban wildfire. I would like to stay at this property again, but I really would like it if those photographs of an urban wildfire were replaced. Given the tragic fires that have occurred in Oregon, I am astonished that these photos were selected as something that guests would enjoy.
- 5/5
Everyone at the hotel was super friendly! It was a very nice room that was clean and comfortable. Shout out to Robert the valet driver. He was especially friendly and fun to talk to.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, quiet
- 5/5
Good value. Nice room. Plenty of restaurants. Complementary breakfast was great.
- 5/5
The staff is professional and friendly. I especially appreciated the ladies that worked in the breakfast dining room.
- 3/5
Cleaning staff forgot to refill body wash, shampoo, conditioner. At least check these things before someone else booked the room.
- 5/5
Very clean and spacious. Very clean bathroom with excellent water pressure. Appreciate the kitchenette & separate living room since my friend was on a different time zone. Our room faced a courtyard and was very quiet. Central location in the Pearl district. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Huge handicap room. Comfortable beds. Easy to watch TVs. Valet parking.
- 5/5
convenient
- 5/5
Location was clean, Easy access. Breakfast was good and easy. Suggest highlighting parking access better. 1) show vallet parking option 2) indicate overnight parking around the corner.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay the rooms are large and contain a full size refrigerator, microwave and stove top...the staff was friendly and extremely helpful
- 5/5
Rooms well appointed and spacious beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet
- 5/5
Very clean space
- 5/5
Great service!
- 5/5
Personnel from desk to food service and cleaning staff were all friendly and efficient!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, professional and eager to help
- 5/5
Great place to stay, staff provided excellent service, would definitely book again
- 5/5
Our room was so cozy and clean 10/10 will come back. I haven’t slept as good as I did in that room in years!
- 5/5
Great experience during our stay. The staff was kind and helpful. Room and public areas full of amenities and very clean. Kids really enjoyed the pool and courtyard. Surrounding area was also quiet and safe. Definitely planning on staying again.
- 5/5
Had a great time! Would appreciate more room service though - trash was rarely emptied and towels not always replaced.
- 5/5
My only discouraging moment was my Tv was not working to watch the Us Open Tennis in the evening I was told it was being worked on by the front desk but it lasted the whole time I was there..
- 5/5
Clean, safe, very nice location
- 5/5
Very quiet place in the middle of a busy district
- 5/5
Conveniently walkable to the Pearl District, great breakfast buffet, dinner options in the bar. Many good restaurants and shopping nearby. Walkable to train station as well.
- 5/5
Perfect room and location for our family’s stay.
- 4/5
Good place to stay with kids and close proximity to everywhere in downtown Portland.
- 5/5
The inner courtyard with key card access was a pleasant surprise.
- 5/5
Easy check in and super nice staff
- 5/5
The staff were amazing and the front desk were exceptional
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 5/5
Every single worker we spoke with or encountered was incredibly nice and helpful and friendly. I've never had such consistently wonderful service from hotel staff. Breakfast was amazing. Both in the amount of options and in how quickly everything would be restocked once it ran out. I've never seen anything like it! The room itself was spacious and comfortable. If fit all the boxes I needed. Can't recommend this place enough
- 5/5
High quality hotel, large room with a kitchen and full refrigerator. King size bed plus a pull out sofa. Very nice design too.

- 4/5
We found the rooms very clean and comfortable. We liked the suite with its separate lounge and kitchen, the kitchen was well kitted out which we found very useful. Staff were excellent all round, special mention to the people handling the breakfast rush and keeping things flowing. Liked the fact we could log into our own Netflix and Amazon accounts on the TV. Two minor negatives, valet parking not worth the price (daily parking is expensive for what it is), use Spot Hero for a fraction of the price, and the room didn't have a safe in it which it really should. But that is nitpicking, the breakfasts were excellent and we would definitely recommend this hotel and we will stay there again when in Portland.
- 5/5
The property is very nice. The rooms were clean and a very good size for the double queen studio.
- 4/5
Great hotel and wonderful staff! The area is slowly improving. The nearby vacant buildings are being renovated and new shops & restaurants are opening up. But there are still unhoused people living in doorways of older vacant buildings & in tents on the sidewalks nearby. I don't feel safe walking down certain streets around this hotel.
- 3/5
I had to call multiple times and go downstairs just to receive the stuff i needed . They light went out in the Bathroom and nobody came upstairs to fix the problem.
- 2/5
We don’t like for waiting almost more then half hour and staff didn’t give you good great and room didn’t give you clean feeling and all night noise coming from other side so overall not that good I don’t want to recommend again
- 5/5
The hotel and rooms were excellent. Room and bathroom super spacious. Breakfast was delicious and lots of both hot and cold choices. Also very nice and helpful staff. If ever in the area will definitely stay again at this hotel.
- 5/5
The room was great and they were able to put my friend and I next door to each other which was very convenient. There workout room was very good. And you couldn’t beat the location!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, very clean beautiful courtyard with fire pits and grills.
- 5/5
Hotel staff are super. Wanda took great care of us at breakfast.
- 1/5
After a long flight we arrived around midnight to check in at our favorite hotel but were informed that due to a maintenance issue, our room was unavailable. We weren't given any notice/heads up and needless to say it was really devastating news. The staff was very friendly and apologetic but it was extremely disappointing to be informed in this way.
- 4/5
Great location, pretty walkable, close to DT Very good breakfast Great for families
- 3/5
The hotel atnosphere waa lovely. The breakfast was amazing with many choices. The coffee waa divine. We got a room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper couch. The beds were awesome! The couch fold out bed however was awful. My son had to fold it up and sleep on the couch which wasnt great for his 6 ft frame. The couch bed also had no sheets or pillows. We had to request them. And there was no soap by the sink in the bathroom otherwise the room waa clean and adequate. The staff was courteoua frie d and professional.
- 2/5
Got checked in to the room to realize the bathroom sink would not drain and there was long black hair on my pillow. Was very disappointed for the money that was spent.
- 5/5
Nice, roomy and safe stay. The courtyard is beautiful.
- 5/5
clean
- 5/5
Great place to stay.
- 4/5
nice and comfy
- 5/5
Family friendly! Courteous staff- breakfast, vallet, bartender, checkin and room service. Very happy with the stay. Near airport and easy driving distance to Waterfalls.
- 5/5
Overall great experience.
- 5/5
I wish they had a hot tub to go with the pool or make the pool warmer. Kind of chilly.
- 4/5
Breakfast was great and friendly staff - Wanda was very kind.
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
staff
- 5/5
The room was great. It was very clean, quiet, modern, and cozy. The area is nice too. In any pocket of Portland there can be issues, but this area was very safe and I could even park on the street given the arrival time. I did not have a concern about my car being bothered. The front desk attendants were really accommodating and answered questions about offerings in the area like a pro. I will keep this property in mind when we return, it was really close the the train station, so that opens up some ideas for future travel.
- 4/5
everything is good, breakfast Average
- 5/5
A pleasant stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was up to date and clean. Breakfast was really good too
- 5/5
Hotel was very nice and breakfast was great. Parked on street and fortunately our rental did not get broken into. Hated Portland.
- 5/5
Service was top notch. Bed was comfortable. Good location and access to public transportation. Valet was great, as was Caleb at the front desk.
- 5/5
The staff was very welcoming and professional and met all of our needs. The room was large and well appointed. The hotel is well located in the Pearl District and close to major routes to get around the city. breakfast that was included with more than adequate. Valet parking was very highly priced at $55 a day, we found street parking instead. We would recommend this hotel if you’re going to Portland.
- 4/5
There is no
- 5/5
A first class place to stay with safe surroundings that made it a good stopping place on my way to Canada from Amtrak/Greyhound that is walking distance nearby.
- 4/5
The outdoor lounge area was inviting and unique
- 4/5
The only thing that i disliked about my stay was, the lack of a complimentary bottle of water at check-in
- 5/5
It is located in a good spot downtown and close to our event.
- 3/5
Stayed one night with my husband and two, little dogs. We chose this property because we needed a pet friendly place with a kitchenette and self parking options. Overall, our stay would’ve been just fine except the pillows and comforter were unpleasantly odorous; smells derived from sweat and body oils. We didn’t notice this until we turned in for the night, just before midnight, and just tried to cover the scents with towels, too exhausted to make a fuss. However, upon checkout the next day when asked about our experience, I brought this matter up to the receptionist in training, Caleb, but didn’t get much of a reaction.
- 5/5
Great location. Room was a great size for 5 of us. Best breakfast we’ve had at hotel. Staff was friendly. Will definitely stay again. Safe area too.
- 5/5
Eveything was well kept and modernized. The inly thing that takes away from the experience is not anything they can directly control which were the amount of vagrants and homeless near the property.
- 5/5
Loved the room with a kitchenette. The befs were comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Our valet, Robert, was the icing on the cake! He was so friendly and happy. The only negative was that we came down for breakfast before 9:30 and it was already closed. We will definitely staying here next time!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and rooms were comfy
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful, the bed was a bit hard for my taste but everyone is different. The continental breakfast was amazing! The staff was super friendly!
- 5/5
Its was nice, good location and clean spacious.
- 5/5
We had a great time! the kids loved the pool and parens enjoyed the big room. Breakfast was great and convenient.
- 4/5
Everything was great! Room was clean and very well Maintained. Special shout out to Wanda and all the other amazing ladies at breakfast! They were always just so so nice and accommodating and so good with kids!
- 5/5
Great location for a stay in Portland.
- 5/5
Employees from check-in to check out, including those who worked in housekeeping, and the breakfast were very courteous and professional.
- 5/5

- 5/5
By far the friendliest most accommodating staff! The older woman at the bar was amazing all the servers were and the front desk staff! Definitely will book again!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms, main lobby and restaurant were very clean. Parking is the only thing that was a bit hard as we didn’t want to pay for valet but we were lucky to find street parking nearby. Would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Very nice and big room. The front desk staff, were very, friendly and offered us, info of the places to eat, around the hotel. I would personally like to thank and commend Lily, who was running the breakfast bar, the next morming. We had to head out early to catch our train and she greet it us, very nicely as we got some coffee and even offered us some muffins and yogurt to take, as we didnt jave time to sit down and eat. She definitely made our day and our stay in Portland, memorable!
- 5/5
Hotel is clean, staff very friendly and good service.
- 5/5
Overall was great but not garage you have to pay for your own parking that sucks!! 😜
- 1/5
The property is fairly new and has nice amenities, but it is horribly sound proofed. I was kept up most of the night by hearing guests in the neighboring room, through the bedroom wall. When I brought the issue to management's attention, they were nice enough to move me to another room. Unfortunately, in the new room I could hear loud footsteps from the room above me.
- 4/5
I always stay here when I visit Portland. Close to everything and great breakfast!
- 4/5
Wonderful stay at Residence Inn in the Pearl. Customer service throughout the property was top notch. The room was clean, quiet and well equipped. Would recommend as well as stay again
- 5/5
Robert in valet is amazing and so sweet. His smile made our days a little brighter! My son would get so excited to see him each time we came down to the lobby. All of the staff was very kind throughout our trip.
- 5/5
Everybody I dealt with was amazing. The valet went out of the way to be extra kind. The guy Josh, this morning at the valet, was a ten out of ten!

All of the staff were excellent and friendly. Our valet was kind and safe with our vehicle. Check in and out were seamless and smooth. The bar staff, David and Kim were excellent. Friendly funny and professional.

Very nice hotel, close to many amenities but felt unsafe at night and there were needles near the courtyard. That might just be the new normal for Portland though.

I had to leave early cause the concert I was attending was canceled they still charged me for staying there even though I left at checkout the next day wouldn’t let me put the day extra for when the concert is actually happening very disappointed
