Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, friendly staff, and stylish decor. However, many guests express concerns about the surrounding area, which has a high population of homeless people, and some have issues with the small room size and additional fees.

As a person in need of one night respite from the chaos of life, it helped me greatly staying at The Hoxton. I am ever so grateful to the staff at The Hoxton for hosting me, I will more than likely return in the near future.
- 4.5/5
I really enjoyed staying at The Hoxton which was supposed to be just a one night stay but I loved the hotel and the area so much that I decided to extend it for one more day and the staff was so helpful and kind. The room was absolutely great value for the money even if it was the smallest room type in the hotel. It was a great stay.
- 3/5
The place was very clean and well maintained. The room felt a little small for two people. There was very limited storage, and we struggled to find enough space for our luggage.
- 5/5
I liked the location even tho Chinatown is a bit sketchy bc of all the homeless people, but that didn’t really bother me I stayed there for 9 days but my room never got cleaned during those days, I thought they would clean it at least once or twice during my stay.
- 5/5
Room and hotel were well decorated. Snug room is small, not an issue for comfort but there isn’t really a place to put your suitcase, especially if you have one bigger than a carry on. Analog photobooth in the lobby was a great touch! Staff was very kind and helpful, and the upstairs restaurant was great. If you don’t want to use the valet for parking, there’s an outdoor lot one block away, (24 bucks a day as opposed to 60 bucks overnight for valet) just don’t leave anything in your car.
- 5/5
Don’t forget to check out the roof top bar/taqueria! Nice experience, food was good!
- 5/5
Really awesome stay. Highly recommended
- 5/5
The area is unsafe but the hotel itself is a great stay.

Great location. Super central to everything. Was never in a car for more than 10 mins. Felt safe in the area. Room could use a little tlc but staff was super helpful.
- 5/5
Great location, within walking distance of shopping, theater & nightlife. Two restaurants and a basement speakeasy, friendly & helpful staff. Some of the rooms are very small.

The staff were wonderful, and the view was great. It was cozy, but not suffocating. The bedding, soaps, etc were all very nice. The low cost breakfast bag was lovely, and the free drinks in the fridge was great! It is right downtown in old town and just a shirt 3 minute walk from Roseland Theater. There's three different places in the hotel for food, we only tried the brunch location which had an hour wait (so deff reserve a table in advance!) but was still delicious. The our room had a rug that was falling apart, which left debris on all of our stuff. The bathrooms have doors, but no fans, so the room gets pretty humid and it takes awhile for it to cool down again. The parking is NOT on site, they have a valet service that parks your car in a public lot down the street.
- 4.5/5
Great decor, extremely comfortable beds- great showers and ample space for 3 people. We stayed at a corner room and the view was beautiful. Great service and attention from the staff and the hotel has plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay. Property is great - however be ready for the homeless shock around the area

Great location, easy to get around. Portland downtown has its challenges and that’s not this hotel’s responsibility. Just be mindful of your surroundings when coming and going. The hotel itself is great, the staff are helpful, and both the lobby restaurant and rooftop bar are great spots. My room was clean and comfortable and well appointed.

Such a bummer that we expected an amazing visit to the Hoxton but were disappointed by the uncomfortable bedding, slow WiFi and lacking room amenities. The room really needed somewhere we could put our luggage and I had to request a luggage stand from the front desk. In the age of gigabit Internet the Hoxton choose to allocate barely 10 Mb/s (I tested a few times) to our room which doesn't properly support streaming. But the real problem was the low bed frame, uncomfortable mattress (too soft) and too-hot (polyester?) comforter with no top-sheet bedding.
- 5/5
Staff was absolutely amazing! This was my first stay at this hotel and I will totally be back!

The hotel is unique and very sophisticated. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are serenely quiet with an artistic, eclectic flair. The amenities are abundant with the crowning touch of Tope on the top floor with a bird’s eye view of the city lights at night..simply stunning.

Proximity to downtown is great, great restaurant and rooftop bar. Property is very busy ...and brings in guests and PDX..always seemed like I was interrupting the night staff.
- 3/5
The room was congested but decent. The restroom door wouldn’t close fully, it keeps opening. Also the shower doesnt have a full cover and it’s too small so the water keeps splattering out.
- 5/5
The rooms are cozy. Loved the experience and highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling solo.

Good job!

Hip Felt incredibly unsafe. Accosted by several drugged up homeless folk upon arrival, heading to dinner, and post dinner. Stepped in pee. Parking is insanely expensive Worst sleep had in my life. So loud - hearing people above and next to you - and all the horrible noise outside. We left at 7 to gtfo of there. And this is coming from someone who lives in Chicago! Wish we cancelled and went somewhere else. Cried stepping outside it was awful! And I love Seattle

My wife and I had a great weekend stay at The Hoxton in Portland. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the location is very convenient and our room was very clean and well appointed. The restaurant on the top floor is excellent with a great view (we didn't try the other restaurants but imagine they would be good as well). We stayed in the smallest sized room, which is VERY small and, while it had a few hangers and hooks, does not include a closet or dresser to store clothing. This worked fine for us for a weekend with our two small bags but a larger room would be needed for a longer stay with larger bags.

Everything I expected.

The hotel was good but the neighborhood was very noisy.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and staff very friendly.
- 5/5
Great place.
- 5/5
The hotel was great. Nice staff, quiet clean rooms. The queen beds were not the best: they were lumpy. Great location, so much within walking distance. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Nice little boutique hotel, will definitely book it again,.
- 5/5
We had a great weekend stay. The hotel was clean, modern, with extremely helpful staff. There are options to eat onsite. Parking is one block away. No onsite gym.
- 5/5
The rooms are compact yet cozy and welcoming. While the surrounding neighborhood has a visible homelessness issue, the hotel compensates with an excellent rooftop featuring great tacos and impressive views. The staff is exceptionally kind and friendly. Furthermore, the hotel offers excellent common areas for travelers seeking a relaxed yet vibrant workspace.
- 5/5
unique “boutique” style hotel with one of a kind amenities.
- 1/5
Cons: restaurant service was very slow. Staff standing around chatting while our food went undelivered. Our room was run down with carpet stains, missing tiles and the shower knob fell off. We had a flood of water come through the ceiling around 11 pm. The hotel staff helped us with a new room and took care of everything.
- 5/5
Overall fine stay. Not sure what the $35 “resort fee” is all about given there is no water park as far I am aware. Otherwise the complimentary white claw at check in was pretty funny
- 5/5
Great property, not the best location. But staff was amazing.

Beautiful, moody hotel. Staff was exceptionally sweet and helpful. Everything was clean and beautiful! Wish we would have been able to stay longer.

Great stay - fun vibes

Everything was great. Loved the show
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel in a sketchy neighborhood, I didnt feel comfortable leaving our rental car there and valet was $60 a day! So I just returned the car and uber around. Everything else was great
- 5/5
Excellent location to start your Portland adventure! Staff was super friendly with a very clean, welcoming, and secure facility. Pets are welcome and food bowls are provided! With three bars two restaurants and a coffee shop depending on your mood! Looking forward to our next stay!

My sheets didn't smell fresh.
- 5/5
Great service! Room was nice too.

The room was super comfortable. The staff was so kind and accommodating, definitely staying here again in the future!

We had a great stay at The Hoxton, Portland. The room was very clean and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. They really made us feel comfortable and taken care of. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Amazing staff, very helpful and kind, clean place, great atmosphere, rooms are very cozy and have a great vibe! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Portland, and we will definitely be coming back in the future!
- 3/5
The staff were really nice but the location is less than desirable. The room wasn’t bad, but the rug was really tattered. The bedding was really crisp and felt clean. Not the worst place I’ve stayed, but not the best.
- 5/5
Beautiful room, easy check in
- 4/5
Very friendly staff and very helpful.
- 5/5
The Hoxton is one of our favorite places for a staycation and that’s big because I love my own home and bed. I love the luxe feel and the city vibes all wrapped into one. They have amazing dining options and their speakeasy is a vibe.
- 5/5
Great design, great location, great staff
- 5/5
Retro radio was on point and put out good music. No ice available, but hotel staff helped when we asked for some. Would definitely stay again.
- 1/5
Up charges on rooms “resort fees” parking is double the price of parking lot down the block and surrounded by homeless people , very small rooms and the hotel hosted a rooftop party and the elevator was very delayed getting in and out of rooms.
- 1/5
Over charge for”resort fee” is a joke it is a downtown hotel surrounded by homeless people and paid parking down the road. Not worth the cost
- 4/5
The downside would be the nearby environ. Be aware of the significant population of unhoused in neighborhood.
- 5/5
Great as usual.
- 3/5
The reason I chose the hotel was because of the “speak easy” bar in the basement. It was closed and I wasn’t told why, not that it matters. Staff is 10000/10. There are hidden fees. I was charged almost 40.00 for a destination fee… which I was told was for toilet paper, neighborhood partner and bikes? What bikes? Toilet paper??? The partner in your neighborhood?? When I asked about it, the said Expedia won’t let them charge that fee, likely because it’s insane to charge me to go to the bathroom… but they did refund it. Bottom line, if you stay here, use their bikes to ride to a neighborhood partner and buy toilet paper.
- 5/5
I picked this hotel because the venue of the concert we were attending was a block away. Room was immaculate and well equipped. The staff was above and beyond! I will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff and location. Walking distance to restaurants, bars and public transportation if you want to venture out of the city.
- 5/5
Best luxury hotel in Portland, hands down.
- 5/5
It was a awsome stay, the Staff was great, The bar on the floor was great, as was the Bartender! I plan on staying there again
- 5/5
I was in Portland to see Neko Case in concert at the Roseland theater, which is right down the street from the Hoxton. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Mercedes, who was the front desk clerk when I checked in, let me borrow a raincoat for walking down to the theater and she also gave me tips for getting into the concert and gave me a clear plastic bag for my belongings. The bed was super comfy. The room was really clean. The artwork on the walls in the elevators and hallways and in the room was very interesting. The whole vibe was calm and simple and restful. The room was super quiet. Everything about my stay was nice and I will look forward to a return visit.
- 5/5
great space downstairs, great restaurants and rooftop bar, and great rooms and staff!
- 5/5
Perfect!!
- 5/5
The staff was the most friendly I have ever experienced. My room was called "Shoebox" so was expecting it to be small, and it was, but it was clean and tidy, with free water and milk in the fridge. The lobby was open and amazing and was a great spot for meet ups. Only a few blocks from the train, and basically in Chinatown with lots of night life around. I will stay there again!
- 4/5
Lack of soap in shower
- 5/5
The room was so spacious with great design. I love being close to the elevator. The staff was super friendly, accommodating and gave great info about the property! I really enjoyed the pop up Filipino restaurant. Amazing food and fairly priced. Super good service too. I will be back to the Hoxton next time I'm in Portland!
- 5/5
The staff was so kind and helpful. The rooms were very cute. The snug room was cozy and i felt like i was staying in the spare bedroom at a friends :)
- 5/5
We had a great 1 night stay at The Hoxton! Great amenities, the space exuded warmth and had thoughtfully designed details. The staff was really nice and accommodating. They even stocked our room with a bottle of champagne and chocolate to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We'll be returning to the Hoxton!
- 5/5
Amazing lobby, helpful staff, and nice cozy room!
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff. Very safe and secure. Very clean. Loved my shoebox room! Many things I wanted to do are in walking distance! Will definitely stay here again!!
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable room.
- 5/5
Friendly and accommodating staff.
- 5/5
Great staff. Would have preferred the rooftop bar was a little warmer, the door was open numerous times and was too chilly to enjoy my time up there!
- 5/5
Staff was Exceptional. Facility was unique.
- 4/5
Room is a little hot with a terrible view of the ac unit and we couldn't open the window for fresh air. Beds were nice and we found out the Waters on the fridge are complimentary and not charged. Great coffee downstairs and walkable everywhere.
- 3/5
Clean but an a unsafe neighborhood. Limited restaurant service on site.
- 4/5
If staying short term, then would consider doing Snug rooms again, for longer stays the larger rooms are probably better. It is close to a lot of good stores and restaurants, so I would definitely be booking in this area in the future
- 2/5
This hotel is extremely rundown and poorly maintained. The rooms feel neglected, with visible wear and a lack of cleanliness. The overall atmosphere is far from welcoming — staff showed little hospitality or effort to make guests feel comfortable. Definitely not worth the price or the photos online. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
- 5/5
Sam and Jacob and all the staff were tremendous and welcoming! There's Filipino food in the restaurant and fantastic specialty coffee
- 5/5
Nice room, very good staff

Such a great vibe at this place, and a fantastic location! Staff was all very friendly and chill, valet service was worth every penny. The room was cozy and small, with lovely old-school touches that really made one think of the old days of people living in hotels in the cities at the turb of the century. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for anyone who wants to explore this part of Portland without having to worry about their car, as everything is so walkable from the hotel!
- 1/5
This place was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I travel a lot for work and this was ridiculous. The person at the front desk was incredibly rude and nasty. Made me feel completely unwelcome. I mean, seriously? You have no idea who's working your front desk? Also the neighborhood was like a zombie movie. The rooms were average at best. I've stayed at Hoxton in London and had better experiences, but this one will forever taint my opinion and I will never book again. The biggest issue was a front desk person who has no business having any job, much less a service job. Good luck!
- 5/5
Really wonderful and attentive staff, at all outlets. Especially the crew Lovely Rita! Everyone was very communicative and authentic. You could tell they wanted you to enjoy your stay.
- 5/5
Clean room. Wonderful staff.
- 5/5
Perfect location for doing everything we needed too
- 5/5
10/10 A+++ experience
- 3/5
The lobby and restaurants on site are very nice. All the staff were very kind and helpful. However, if you are a woman traveling alone I would NOT recommend this hotel. It is in an area where there are extreme amounts of homeless people on every corner. And unfortunately not respectful homeless people. Ones of drugs that harass you and make you uncomfortable. The rooms are tiny, even for one person, and they are very loud/street facing with people screaming outside and cars and ambulances/police cars constantly driving by.
- 5/5
Well appointed room, had the compact but perfect for one person. Clean and tidy with nice design details. Only reservation was the area but I know Portland can be a little rough around the edges.
- 5/5
Hoxton is a go-to each time in Portland. The old town area is starting to clean up, and this place is perfect for walkable ventures!
- 3/5
The hotel itself was nice looking, the staff were wonderful, and the location is convenient, but some design features, especially in the bathroom were impractical or lacking- just a tiny shelf right above the toilet seat to put things on and two hooks but no bars for towels and wash cloths. The bed was a little too soft for my comfort, and I had to make adjustments to the in-room AC to stop it from rattling. The street noise was quite loud even on the seventh floor. Just as I’d fall asleep another car with a booming sound system would stop at the traffic light outside.
- 5/5
Love the Hoxton! Staff was incredibly welcoming and gracious. The entire place has a great design & energy. The room was spacious and had everything I needed. Would absolutely stay again.
- 5/5
Best place and staff
- 5/5
Comfy bed. Great shower. Good views. Great decor. Overall vibe of the hotel was just what we were looking for. Walking distance to Pearl district sites.

The hotel itself was nice BUT the location, in my opinion, was horrible. We've stayed at the Chicago Hoxton and love it so assumed the same for Portland. It is in a poor location...and honestly didn't feel safe.
- 5/5
Great hotel but downtown Portland can be challenging
- 5/5
OH!! And their speakeasy was excellent.
- 5/5
My Cosy room was truly cozy. Wood panelling and wood accents throughout the hotel give the place a warm inviting feel. Smallish rooms are offset by ample, comfortable space downstairs to work. Loved the art throughout the hotel and rooftop restaurant/bar. Food was good. Staff was friendly. Location is convenient. Only downside is that it sits on the edge of the somewhat sketchy Old Town-Chinatown district, but that’s offset by all the other pluses. I’d stay here again.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful!
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful! Remodeled yet keeps the feeling of an era long ago. Beds are so comfortable!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and kind. The hotel itself very cute and walkable to everywhere. Just don’t park across the street as we didn’t have good time, a car parked behind us and we were stuck for more than 3 hours. The parking lot didn’t do anything to help us to towin the car behind us
- 5/5
I loved the aesthetic this hotel has, everyone was so sweet, and my room was clean and comfortable!
- 2/5
The staff all were nice. The little coffee shop is charming. The rooftop restaurants is definitely a draw for people. However its not enough. The room was not clean. There was toothpaste splattered around the sink, dust, and stains and spots on furnishings. The rug was so worn we kept tripping on the strings and had worn through to the adhesive. The bed was nice and soft, however we did not sleep due to yelling and fighting that would erupt throughout the night. Even on the 8th floor it was loud. We had previously staying in the smaller cozy rooms and decided to give the upper floors and bigger rooms a try. I understand bigger does not mean cleaner but the mildew smell was so overwhelming that my husband who never smells anything wanted to open a window. The place is charming and for many the rooftop and overall vibe will be enough. I felt it fell flat and did not deliver on the hospitality details to go with the overall vibe. The area around the hotel is a bit down and out, however just a few blocks away you are in the Pearl District.
- 5/5
THE BEDDD WAS THE BEST THING EVERRR, have never slept in a bed as comfortable as the hoxton hotel!
- 2/5
Property is located in a central part close to all tourist attractions BUT it is also very close to social services which means there were too many homeless people all around the property.
- 5/5
Such an awesome property to stay… I will most definitely stay here again
- 5/5
The aesthetics of the property very nice. The staff there is very accommodating and very pleasant to be around.
- 4/5
Cool property, rooms are a bit small but nice and clean.
- 5/5
Everything was great for my needs as a single travelor. High homeless population nearby though.
- 5/5
The room was amazing and the atmosphere was top-notch.
- 5/5
The Hoxton was perfect for our needs. I do want to point out Portland has a city-wide homeless problem (our hotel area included)
- 5/5
Super friendly staff, very helpful, and the property was surprisingly nicer than I even expected. Recommended!
- 5/5
Stayed at multiple. Little quiet here. But good!
- 5/5
Rooms were smaller than I thought they’d be, bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed but otherwise very nice hotel. Incredibly friendly staff. Great location, parking very close by.
- 5/5
Solid value with cool atmosphere. Secure and clean. You trade the suburb perks (free parking, more space than you need) for the quintessential Portland perks (good coffee, proximity to great food, unique vibes)
- 5/5
Loved this hotel. It’s incredibly beautifully designed - the room was just great. Bed was so comfortable and linen super soft. Great location for exploring downtown, pearl, and old town - and with brilliant transport links to everywhere else
- 5/5
Everything great. Not their fault that homeless people have set up lodgings right outside of front door.
- 3/5
This hotel is presented as a new modern hotel, but it was so chaotic I’m not sure why? The valet was almost always never to be found when we went to get our car. They ran out of clean towels and no one did housekeeping because they simply didn’t have enough staff. Also the staff wasn’t in communication with each other, no one knew what was going on.
- 5/5
The staff here was outstanding. I will always come back here when I am in Portland
- 5/5
Great aesthetic, attentive staff, clean, very comfortable bed
- 5/5
Not their fault that the surrounding area is inundated with the homeless. It was less than a block to our concert venue and the staff was outstanding. The room accommodations were superb- very chic!
- 5/5
A very funky, delightful find. Loved the cozy room and the rooftop restaurabt
- 5/5
Everything about this place was great, aside from the conditions of the surrounding neighborhood, which can be a bit unpleasant. That being said, there are many nice restaurants in the area and it's close to downtown attractions.
- 5/5
Location is slightly sketchy, but near the venue we attended. Lovely interior, sizable room, friendly staff. Would return!
- 1/5
Horrible experience
- 4/5
cool hotel, boutique style. nice vibe, neighborhood is sketchy though.
- 5/5
The Hoxton is always a vibe! Clean, fun and love the different restaurants/bars on the property.
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing! Very clean and the housekeeping crew was fantastic and very helpful.
- 3/5
Rooftop bar was great.
- 5/5
Room was very cozy (a Snug unit, aptly named) but very nice & efficient. Nice rooftop bar with nice views.
- 2/5
The photo featured on Hotel.com was very misleading. Some might find this hotel 'funky', but not what we expected. Disappointing!!
- 3/5
Stunning lobby and great service. Unfortunate that the homelessness is so in your face. I’ll make a conscious decision to stay in a different part of the city next time unless the city finally does something.
- 2/5
Room and bed were really small
- 5/5
Great, very well designed hotel with comfy, immaculate rooms and really great staff.
- 5/5
Me and my wife stayed at the Hoxton and attended their 2025 New Years party. Great party, done very well! We stayed in one of the Snug rooms (true to it's name), but it was clean with nice decor. Only issue was, due to it being an old building there was an odor coming up through the shower drain but once water was run the smell went away. Overall nice spot.
- 5/5
We came downtown for a nye concert at the roseland, this was the perfect location for our evening. We were beyond thrilled with the beauty and style of the hotel and the cool vibe of the room, bonus, it had a killer view.
- 5/5
Stylish but not overpriced hotel. Close to Powell’s and many other Portland standards. Appreciate the proximity to some of the queer spaces too. Easily walkable to the shopping downtown too. Staff has always been friendly, and there’s a good mix of cafe, dining, options both in the Hotel and nearby.
- 1/5
Not a safe area
- 5/5
Was exactly what I needed out of a hotel close to a music venue. Styling is amazing. And the speak ease below is amazing. I’d go there even if I wasn’t a hotel guest.
- 5/5
The hotel was cozy with the roof top dining was amazing very clean... did not like how many homeless people were around also didn't like that parking wasn't included with our stay.
- 5/5
Nice Employees
- 5/5
Love this hotel. Can't wait to go back and do it again.
- 5/5
Excellent place amd area. One fault the vathroom lacks counterspace for toiletries, and cosmetics personal belongings.
- 4/5
The hotel itself was nice, clean and had great customer service but the area was sketchy. As a solo female traveller on this trip I felt extremely unsafe after dark in this area, even at times during the day. Many shops and transit stops had security that were friendly and helpful but the homeless, mental illness and addiction are very prominent in the area.
- 3/5
The hotel and room itself are very aesthetically pleasing but the AC was nonexistent even on max, the give you barely any towels, and the area where it’s located is unsafe, around a ton of night clubs and has homeless everywhere.
- 1/5
Our Shower had no door so when we showered the whole bathroom got wet
- 5/5
Great location walkable from river Park and many good restaurants and bars. Hotel lobby has a lovely bar and solid espresso bar, and there's a really cool upscale restaurant on the rooftop as well. Very friendly staff. Our room was on the small side but comfortable and well-outfitted.

The hotel is in good condition, and the staff was great, but there's simply too many homeless people in the area (more than in other areas). Both nights I stayed it was terribly noisy outside my window. Staff indicated that booking through Expedia gave us rooms on the second and third floors, while the higher floors were reserved for direct bookings. Since the hotel wasn't full, they should upgrade customers to avoid this disaster. Again, the staff was great but try a different location if you want a restful stay.

The hotel itself was absolutely amazing. Don’t let the construction deter you from staying here!

Great location and staff!

The Hoxton is a gorgeous hotel with very friendly people working there. We loved our room and it was a great location near the Pearl and areas of towntown Portland. Lots to do. The only complaint has nothing to do with the hotel- the area around the hotel can be pretty noisy with bars and clubs and drunk people, and the neighborhood isn't the cleanest (watch where you're walking, seriously). But that's just the reality of some areas of cities, so really not a big deal. Would definitely stay here again!

It was smaller. Service in the restaurant wasn’t amazing. Area was even worse but overall, it was fine.
- 4/5
Great and stylish overall but it would be nice to have a top sheet on the bed and a microwave in the room. Like many areas of Portland there are a lot of unhoused people in the area so it didn't feel super safe walking around.

This Hotel is located in the absolute worst part of Downtown Portland, next door to a couple shelters. But no worries the room was reasonably priced, it’s late and I need a room, and the place looks nice. After walking through 7 blocks of human excrement, homeless brandishing weapons and smoking fentanyl, and the overpowering smell of urine I arrive at the Hoxton. I get inside and realize I lost my debit card, front desk clerk is basically a human robot, and presents an incredibly rude demeanor towards me, I guess because I lost my debit card and she now assumes I’m homeless? She then proceeds to charge me an additional “refundable,” charge. No problem I still have Apple Pay, so I use that, get my key and go up to my room to find that it is barely larger than a king sized bed (quite literally)….. Showered and tried to get a few hours of sleep before I had to catch my connecting train south. Couldn’t even sleep because there were cars street racing up and down Burnside drowning out the sound of my tv and everything else until approximately 3:45am. When the street racing finally stopped the gunshots and sirens started, followed shortly by garbage trucks and then my alarm to head for the Amtrak station. Needless to say I didn’t sleep. I go down to check out, rude robot lady is still there with the sour judgy glare on her face. Check out of my room and go home only to find that ”refundable” fee wasn’t refundable. 2/10 ⭐️

Amazing and very accommodating

That hotel was nice, small rooms but heck we were only sleeping there so didnt matter. The area where the hotel is though is very scary. Even passed a homeless man weilding a knife

Loved it, only complaint is I wasn’t expecting how small the rooms were but overall great experience

The hotel itself is pretty great. Clean and well-decorated room. My only complaint about the room would be that the shower design leaves the bathroom covered in water. I would have some safety concerns about walking around the streets near the hotel at night, but it seems OK during the day.

The Hoxton is an ecclectic, bohemian space. I like the decor, tha ambiance and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Loved my stay

The area around the hotel is frequented by a large number of homeless drug addicts roaming the area and sleeping in doorways. There were several tented villages nearby. The foul smell generated was very intense. The staff had no corporate appearance such that it wasn’t always clear who were and weren’t staff. We had coffee and pastries for breakfast. Sadly the pasties were stale and had to be returned.

Stayed here over a weekend with my husband while visiting our daughter in Portland. LOVED our visit and the city, but the Hoxton stay was truly dismal. We booked a larger room which put us in the older part of the building with old single-pane windows in a corner on the 3rd floor. Our biggest complaint was the completely absurd street noise that went on literally from 11pm until 3-4am. We are not unaccustomed to city noise and knew there was a night scene in the area. We can live with that. But there is a country-themed club around the corner that seems to attract people in large trucks who demonstrate their manhood and ability to burn fossil fuels by competing to see who can gun their engines loudest and longest… All. Night. Long. After night one, we asked if we could move rooms, but were told (without any apology or expression of concern) that the hotel was sold out. We bought some earplugs that made things slightly more tolerable over the next two nights. We also waited over 20 minutes to check in while the lone staff person at the front desk dealt with an unhappy guest. We booked a king bed room, and there is NO WAY the bed is a standard king size—more like a queen. The bathroom was miniscule—one person at a time, with a sink barely big enough to wash your face, and one of those fixed half-walls to section the shower which means water splashing all over the floor, leaving a soaking wet bath mat. Outlets open inconsistently

Check in staff wasn’t friendly. Dirty and stained carpets in the bedrooms and a ripped rug. The bathroom sink was comically small. Little Rita’s barista was lovely and coffee was great! But the overall stay was definitely not worth the price.

The hotel was cute and clean and a neat spot for a cozy night after hood to coast for my birthday.

The hotel was very well maintained, was comfortable, and had a friendly atmosphere.

Business traveler. This is a unique hotel. Probably not the best for a business traveler. No coffee provided in room, none available on lobby. Coffee shop opens at 7am. Parking is a big problem. They have valet and only 2 spots to park while waiting. There is only 1 valet and he was pretty stoned and took about 1/2 hour to park and come back for 1 vehicle so it’s a problem. Also valet doesn’t open until 7am. Surrounding area appears dangerous and would not walk around. Rooftop restaurant was cute and appeared very trendy crowd.

My actual stay was great! My experience on the rooftop restaurant Tope was not. We had the worst waitress. We asked her if we can move inside cause we were cold outside, she brings us in and sits us off to the side on bar stools not at the actual bar. We ask her for a table and she says she can't when there were plenty of tables open. We ordered food so we wanted a proper table to sit comfortably in. We had to go order our drinks at the bar and get them ourselves. At the end another waitress comes to check on us and see if we still wanted a table, we had finished our meal by then but even she was nicer than our waitress she atleast tried to accommodate us.

BE WARNED!!!!!!! When booking through hotels.com or other third party you will be charged an extra $35 per night for a "destination fee". So you aren't really saving any money.

The room was cool

It was a great qick getaway!

Also the valet was with a third party so when we wanted to get an early start to go hiking we had to wait until 7am when they arrived.

Super friendly.

I was not told that I had to pay a destination fee at the hotel. Area is mediocre but good location and walkable to public transit and popular areas.

Really nice hotel in a pretty run down and sketchy area.

Very friendly staff and clean room

Hotel staff and valet were very friendly and welcoming! Room was comfortable and quiet, and the location was great for easy access to downtown. Cute hotel with great restaurants and speakeasy. Great walking distance within local restaurants and shops!

I booked through hotels.com, and prepaid for my room. I was rather shocked to find out there were additional fees called destination fees that were non-refundable added on at check in. I was then shown to a room where the air conditioner was as loud as a plane engine. When asked for maintenance to look at it I was told that this was a known issue for the last week. Why would they let anyone check into that room if they know that this is a problem? The hotel also has a minimal food and drink options. The lobby coffee bar is only open in the mornings, the rooftop restaurant is only open for dinner, and the bar area which takes up one entire half of the ground floor is only in operation on Thursday Friday and Saturday. For a hotel next to the downtown core, I find this rather shocking.
