Reviews
Guests have mixed feelings about their stay at the hotel. While some appreciate the friendly staff and central location, others express disappointment with the cleanliness, maintenance, and outdated facilities.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Central location
- Cleanliness issues
- Outdated facilities and maintenance problems

The location was great. The newly remodeled room was nice and clean. It could have used a few more outlets. We were on the upper floor so an elevator would have been convenient for our luggage. It was easy to find and close to the freeway. Plenty of parking. The public areas we saw could use new carpet, however I think they are still working on renovations.

Our first room smelled of weed badly, so we were switched to a new room. The condition of the second room was bad too, hair on the beds and stains on the floor. The furniture was old and worn. I had to sanitize the room myself, it also smelled like bleach and our sink clogged. We had to be moved again. The staff seemed friendly and tried to “upgrade” us, but the upgraded room was the same room condition only it smelled slightly better. We decided to try to stick it out. The pool at least was nice. The breakfast you have to pay $8.99 per person, and it was just generic not well cooked eggs with sausage buffett style that is free elsewhere. The cheap coffee was included as Folgers, but if you want Pete’s coffee you’re going to have to pay $5-7 dollars. The second day we find a cockroach and my husband got a spider bite. The third room we were in was also not clean and had it been an actual upgrade this review might have gone differently. There is no place to lock valuables, and no deadbolt. We also got sick with a cold virus and ended up leaving early at 1:30am because the bad air quality and no sleep. The bar/lounge was not even open during our stay though that was not clear on the website. The restaurant was also closed Sun/Mon. All Expedia could do was refund a measley $35 for this advertised 7.4 rated hotel. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Hopefully their remodel is successful because other than the nice staff, there is no way I would go there again.

- 3/5
Frankly, we were a little disappointed. Rooms with old furniture, chipped paint on the walls. Musty smelling hallways. Really needs a do over. In addition, when we went for our included breakfast, manager brought out a few cold items and told nothing else available that morning. Should have taken $15 or so off the bill but, didn’t offer. Nicer places in the same area for similar price range available.

Clean room
- 3/5
Seems to be under construction/inside redecorating. Halls were filthy. Very low business level. AC was very noisy. Bed was nice.
- 3/5
Staff was great but the room was not clean. We had a broom with us and had to sweep up dog hair and such before we rolled in our luggage; it was fairly heavy dust and dander . The bathroom light didn’t work but we made due . We stay here often , so I was a bit disappointed to have to sweep after a seven hour drive . We will still return as we have been staying here for years and it’s a convenient location and the staff is wonderful and gracious . In the end alls well that ends well. =~).

- 2/5
Hot tub pool area opens to late but they let me in thanks to the maintenance person we have meet him before and is incredible help
- 3/5
Hotel its self is older and slightly run down. Old smelly dirty carpets in halls and staircases. Laminate wood in our room and hadn’t been vacuumed or mopped especially under bed. Air conditioning very hard to operate. Pool area makes up for this, large deep pool and large super hot jacuzzi, lots of lounger chairs. Price is great and restaurant decent. If you’re not here for the pool stay somewhere else.
- 3/5
Room heater would not work, they brought an electric neater then changed room. Hotel is dated but are remodeling.
- 4/5
The bad part was the air conditioner was so loud and had major loud rapid ticking like the fan was out of alignment. Made it really hard to sleep. Could have turned it off but then no air conditioning. The bed was nice and soft with 3 pillows on the queen bed. Bathroom was clean.
- 3/5
The staff is good. We have stayed here many times. The unfortunate changes that have happened is that there no longer
- 5/5
We love the pool , the food, and the rooms
- 4/5
Located perfectly for our neefs. Very convenient.
- 1.5/5
The room was clean and the Breakfast was decent. I booked two like rooms with a pool/garden view three weeks prior to our trip. Instead of being adjoining rooms they split our locations and neither of our rooms had a pool/garden view. both had a view of the parking lot. They also put us next to a family with small children screaming and crying at 6am. The bed was also very uncomfortable. Very disappointed with the stay.

The bed and had all white bedding and everything was very clean and crisp. I liked the shampoo/conditioner/bodywash combo dispenser in the shower. That was helpful and looked very nice.

Location and amenities. We’ve been staying at this hotel every year for over 20 years for the Kool April Nights event. We are a group of approximately 20 people that have been staying there, every year. Over the last few years, following the Friday night cruise, people start doing burn-outs in the hotel parking lot where many valuable classic show cars are parked. Hotel staff has done nothing to stop this. This year we spoke with the hotel “check-in” management and asked him to stop this. He assured us it was not allowed, they had uniformed security for this years event and they would not allow it to occur. Well, it did occur, again and for several hours. Security did nothing except take video with their phones. No other hotel staff came outside, the police were never called and the burn outs continued late into the night. It’s just a matter of time until a pedestrian / bystander is hit, hurt or killed, or a $100,000 dollar plus collector car is hit and damaged. Red Lion Hotel will suffer the liability as there are many witnesses to testify in a civil trial that hotel staff did nothing, again. You need to put a stop to this before you’re writing a multi-million dollar check as a result of a law suit from personal or property damage. The speed bumps in the parking lot do nothing.

Clean , quiet , comfortable and professional friendly staff

Quiet, clean, comfortable
- 2.5/5
Location is very central to Redding. Curtains didnt close, had to have maintenance attend. Door lock didnt work. Carpets on entry were a disgrace.
- 3/5
For the price, it was as expected.
- 2/5
Our room was upgraded after initially getting a room that hadn’t been cleaned. We were also given a voucher for free breakfast, but the food was removed 45min before breakfast was over. The employee made a mistake, but it didn’t redeem our first stay at Red Lion. It will be our last.
- 2/5
The carpets in the entire hotel are filthy and stained. Paint is chipping off of the walls in the rooms. I will not be staying here again anytime soon.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff!
- 4/5
A/C did not work, fan blew out outside temperature air. It was not too hot so it was not worthwhile to change rooms.
- 5/5
Everything was great and very accommodating! Will return

Horrible experience
- 3/5
Pool needs cleaning, hot tub not working
- 3/5
Sink was clogged and you had to pay for a very simple continental type breakfast.
- 3/5
Fine for crashing after a long drive, food nearby is easy to get. Hot tub out if service both times we stayed there.
- 5/5
The accommodations are wonderful, in regards to accessibility, customer service and efficiency….however the TV remotes have never worked . The remotes suck…. They do nothing
- 3/5
Decent place to crash for about $100, but I would not recommend it otherwise.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and the rooms were beautiful, spacious, and clean.
- 4/5
Older hotel but clean, quiet, and comfortable. Great value.
- 5/5
The hotel is clean, very nice, staff is friendly and the room is big.
- 4/5
Didn't use the pool.
- 3/5
The hot tub was not open. The ice machine in the hallway did not work. The room was fine.
- 3/5
Odor in the hallways. Room was ok. Hot tub was not working. Staff was nice
- 5/5
pull up parking best
- 4/5
Was a great last minute pitstop on a long journey. The property could use some updating but it was clean and the staff was excellent. Onsite bar/restaurant that made it easy to drop our stuff and go grab something.
- 3/5
Room decent, however beds are older. Breakfast Buffett is charged extra if you want it.
- 5/5
Rooms are clean, love the access to the pool/hotub for my knee and my wifes back therapy.
- 4/5
Loud A.C. made sleeping unpleasant. Otherwise it was OK.

- 2/5
Rooms are fine. We have plastic on our smoke detector from last guests. They advertise a bar, which is why we stayed, and fail to mention $10 cover charge
- 5/5
Easy to access, close to everything we needed and loved the hardwood floors so that even though wasn’t totally remodeled did not smell old and dingy.
- 5/5
Comfortable, welcoming facility with friendly and helpful staff! Outdoor pool and spa were popular and well maintained, with daily cleaning procedures. Room was comfortable and spacious, nice water pressure in the shower, functional refrigerator (I didn’t try the microwave or television). Coffee maker worked sometimes but not others. Fortunately the lobby provided coffee in the morning and filtered water all day. Restaurant available for meals, ATM, fitness equipment, and guest laundromat on premises for added convenience! Easy parking and multiple secure entrances. Heating/AC system a little outdated, but evidence of remodeling for future improvements underway. I enjoyed my weeklong stay at the Red Lion immensely, and plan to return when I am back in Redding!
- 5/5
The room was clean, quiet, and very spacious, with a comfortable bed, pillows, and a well-functioning air conditioner. The patio was a nice size, and the bathroom was roomy with plenty of towels and a convenient full-length mirror on the bathroom door. While the patio table and chairs appeared slightly worn, the overall experience was positive. The property was well-maintained, and the staff was friendly, with an easy check-in and check-out process. It is also conveniently located about a seven-minute drive from the downtown area.
- 2/5
Pool and hot tub are nice but that's about it. This used to be my go to but it is very shabby.
- 3/5
I was trying to contact the property to let them know I wouldnt make it for my reservation. Q I knew I wasn’t eligible for a refund, but I thought I’d let them know. There was no easy way for communication either by calling this place or using the website through you.
- 4/5
We were in town for Doctors appointment. We love Red Lion.
- 4/5
Russell was great and got us an accessible 2 Queen pool view room close to entry doors. This made the trip more enjoyable for my limited mobility mother. Pool and hot tub were great. Only downside was breaker tripping from AC and fridge on circuit. Maintenance guy was super nice and gave us breakfast buffet tickets.

- 4/5
Overall very good. The man running the breakfast buffet was especially friendly and proficeint. Only complaint was the room temperature control which could not be changed from 72 F
- 1/5
First off we came from a long way and wasn’t told when we booked that there would be a $100 deposit so when we got here and had to pay the deposit well that was our food money so we couldn’t eat for an entire two days because we didn’t get to eat until we got home later this evening from yesterday morning. Then the room was gross. The shower curtain smelled moldy. The curtain in the room didn’t close all the way. Then when we went to listen to the band in hotel we were told we had to pay $20 even though we were guests of the hotel. And the pool was really dirty.
- 3/5
One negative . . . all the luggage trollys are up in the lobby where there are currently no guest rooms while our building had No trollys & it was a LONG walk to the to the building with the lobby .
- 4/5
The room was nice, convenient location
- 3/5
Very dated hotel. Dark rooms and dingy feeling. Squeaky bed that I could feel the springs. It did have a patio
- 1/5
The room didnt have AC as advertised and reached temperatures exceeding 80 degrees causing both me and my wife tonhave adverse health effects like vomiting
- 3/5
The room was unbearably hot, the AC not doing the job. They sent a technician and it got better but still hovered around 70 -72 degrees. The vinyl flooring they put in years ago is bubbly in every room we’ve ever stayed in, as the subfloor is a mess. There often is someone parked in an EV charging spot and they are not charging nor could they as their car is gasoline based. GRRR. Not the property’s fault here tho. It’s conveniently located, which is nice. And staff are typically helpful and pleasant.
- 4/5
Staff and close to Hilltop in Redding.
- 1/5
The pics on the app look absolutely nothing like in person. Red Lion is so run down, it stank and honestly felt unsafe. Some of the guests seemed as if they live there. The room was not very clean. I would absolutely not recommend. Staff was ok.
- 4/5
Staff was great, and delivered an extra blanket to my room quickly. Room was clean, bed comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent. Had to make a last minute reservation and they were extremely accommodating. Great location, close to restaurants and easy access to highway
- 5/5
Our room, and the hotel, was clean and specious. The staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. The hotel is located in a great location with many stores and restaurants nearby. Its right off the freeway and easy to find. We would definitely stay here again.

- 1/5
No point staying here
- 3/5
Room was mostly clean but there was dust in corners. Linens were good. Heater wouldn't turn off, and the front desk wasn't helpful when contacted.
- 2/5
Current condition of this hotel is terrible.
- 2/5
Room
- 3/5
Staff was fine but we had a horrible night because the people staying in the next room were being incredibly loud and rude. I called the front desk but the excessive noise didn't until like 2:30 in the morning.
- 3/5
Staff was nice but the room cleanliness was subpar. The LVP floor left my socks dirty.
- 3/5
Place had obviously flooded in the days before I was there as carpets were wet and place was musty. Staff helpful and friendly. Room fine but also the heater wouldn't turn off no matter what I did. I've stayed here before and will in the future, but this just wasn't the best visit.
- 1/5
Fridge didn’t work , did not clean room , construction on all other rooms next to me even late into the night, a hazardous environment
- 4/5
It’s very nice and comfortable
- 2/5
Room needs updated. Bad mattress. Keys didn’t work.
- 2/5
Heater didn’t work, leaking ceiling with buckets in the hallway, housekeeping didnt knock on door to clean.
- 1/5
I know it wasn't the Red Lion's fault that they had no electricity or lights or heat, but it was still a major, expensive inconvenience. I had to find other accommodations that Sunday night.
- 1/5
No power couldn’t check in waiting on refund since wasn’t my fault I couldn’t check in massive flooding where we live and needed a dry warm place to sleep
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff helpful & friendly, Hot tube was fun, DJ in the bar was fun too
- 3/5
Breakfast was overpriced for what I got tea, juice and an apple. You don't carry the SF Chronicle or the NY Times. Big mistake, even a few would do.
- 1/5
The experience at this hotel was truly horrible. The floor had a huge dip in it, tripping you every time you walk through it. Every fixture in the bathroom was barely hanging on the wall, stained flooring. It was pretty wild that the door could be both barely hanging on the hinges and still get stuck when opening. The sliding door to the patio/parking lot had a makeshift bolt lock that was drilled into the door, but not aligned enough to actually work. I reserved this room for a midway pitstop of a long drive. I called ahead early to let them know that I will be checking in very late around 1 to 2 AM. I was told that should not be an issue as it is 24 hour service and it will be noted in your reservation. Once I arrive to check in, I was told that they canceled my appointment and that I was a no-show. I explained that I had called in to confirm that I was able to check in and what time I would be checking in and was told it was OK. Yet my reservation was still canceled because it was more convenient for the front end so that they could close out their day/balance sheet as I was told by the front desk. Overall, I was fooled by the pictures posted online and wouldn’t recommend anybody stay at this location. It’s as if they are going through renovations without actually doing renovations. Everything is falling apart.
- 2/5
Hotel is old and out of date. Stayed here several times over the years and no maintenance has occurred. Dirty floors in common areas. An old room key was sitting on the floor in our room in a very viewable area leading me to believe they didn’t clean well if at all. Pink mold in shower and water got cold. Felt like a gym where I wasn’t comfortable walking barefoot. Won’t be staying again
- 4/5
Convenient for an overnight stay. Very close to Tesla supercharger.
- 3/5
The room was clean.
- 1/5
The hotel felt very unsafe! My room was in the back of the hotel near an exterior door. It was suppose to be locked with a key card entry. It was not. I told the front desk when I left for a couple of hours and they said it would be taken care of. When I returned they told me it was locked. Once again, it was not. I have a video proving this as well. There were people who appeared to be living on the streets coming and going as they pleased. I felt very unsafe so I left and stayed with a friend. Was not able to use the room.
- 2/5
Our key wasnt working. The housekeeper tried to help but even her key wouldn't work. She went around to tge sliding glass doirbopening tk open the frknt doir. We were told tgst there was a break in to the room. I w a offered a different room, which i declined andvwent to a different establishment.
- 5/5
Always a great experience
- 5/5
My request for a pet-friendly, ground floor room was granted. Motel was in a good location, parking lot well lit for walking the dogs after dark, right across from an Applebees for dinner (food on site was more expensive). My only complaint was that I couldn't figure out how to get the room to cool down below 70 degrees.
- 2/5
The room was decent, clean, but partially outdated. The pictures look a lot better online than in real life. The whole atmosphere just isn’t desirable. Outdated cosmetics. Nowhere nice to hang out at other than in the room. I like hotel accommodations to be able to spend my mornings in a common area that’s nice while my family is still sleeping. The gym is particularly disgusting and has a certain odor to it.
- 1/5
Room air-conditioning set at 64 and room did not get below 82 room was dirty bathroom sinks were clogged worse stay ever staff was rude wouldn't help.
- 4/5
A bit of an older hotel but the room was clean and I felt safe. I liked that there was a security car patrolling the back of the hotel where my room was located. I didn’t eat breakfast there but the plain coffee in the breakfast buffet was excellent and free. Will stay there again when passing thru.
- 2/5
There were several concerns. The non-smoking room smelled like smoke. We were issued 50+ keys due to them being deactivated almost immediately after we used them. I raised concerns about the property and never received a call back from a manager. In fact, one manager refused to return the call. The only bright spot was an employee named Cecilia.
- 5/5
It was such a wonderful place to stay. Everything super clean and staff very friendly.
- 2/5
It was ok. Good price lol
- 1/5
Room had heater stuck on. Couldn't turn it down only off and the room never cooled. Called desk twice about the hot room, 88 degrees. Tv also didn't work. Maintenance did fix the tv, but didn't fix the heater. Called again at 2 am, we were told to open the door. Sliding door was put in wrong way so you cant block it to leave it open. The track is on the outside of the room. Room is on bottom floor. We were given the breakfast "buffet" for free because they couldn't fix our room. Hotel was not even close to being full and we should have been offered a different room. The breakfast "buffet" just had regular continental breakfast that you usually get for free at other hotels. The hotel it's self is ran down and out of date. It was however clean, quite and the beds were comfortable. I am very disappointed in this hotel. The pictures you see online are misleading. Front desk told us to call the manager about the rooms heater there was nothing she could do.
- 2/5
Older facility. Liked the fact that the room had a sliding glass door/small patio.
- 2/5
Not clean
- 2/5
Noisy rooms, outside noise and interior noise is bad. Older property. Bed sucked.
- 5/5
The room was perfect, it was beautiful and ao clean. I slept like a baby and will return!
- 3/5
Took about 20mins
- 2/5
This hotel is extremely run down. The wing we were in had water damage throughout. The carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned ever. I know they have some renovated rooms.I guess they were all booked. However, I won't take that chance again. This will be our last stayhere here
- 4/5
I had a very nice stay
- 2/5
Room was extremely neglected. I even took pics and emailed them to the general manager but never got a response. Pictures of blood, dry boogers and many other things on the walls in bathroom and sleeping area. The ladies at the front desk were amazing though. Just wish management would have atkeast reached out since it was disgusting.
- 3/5
Heater did not work. I could never get the room warm. The hallway reaked of pot.
- 3/5
The room wasn’t entirely clean, there was stuff on the floors like hair and there was sitting water and mold by the ice machine. It was fine, I just probably wouldn’t stay there again.
- 3/5
The one staff member we met was mildly courteous. I was given two key cards for security gate and door opening. One card was supposed to work on both. Opening the room door was easy. Getting through the gate at times didn't happen and I had to go to a different gate further from my room. No microwave, no fridge. Room was clean.
- 5/5
Convenient and a clean hotel for an overnight stay while driving from San Francisco to Seattle. It's also close to Tesla supercharger.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff at front desk friendly. Good breakfast buffet.
- 2/5
Entertainment was canceled the first night restaurant closed early. There was no chef food was minimal. Room was dirty, the door was broken. Hotel has not been updated in many years.
- 1/5
The hotel was TERRIBLE Hotel !!! don't stay here your better off at Motel 6
- 3/5
The staff are not as helpful and not as friendly, they’re too stuck up.
- 5/5
Yes. Clean, attractive room. Courteous and friendly staff.
- 1/5
We immediately had to switch rooms because the TV didn’t work the room that we checked into after that the sliding glass door wouldn’t open and then my son got locked in the bathroom and they had to kick it down because it wouldn’t open. We are currently waiting to go into our third room.
- 3/5
The hotel needs updated. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the staff was friendly when they were actually at the desk.
- 5/5
Everything was very good
- 3/5
The room was ok. Staff was sparse. Room floor was dirty and cracked. The rest of the room was ok. Could use sone major updates.
- 4/5
Clean room, easy check in, idiot smoking outside below our room stunk out our room, The breakfast was wiped out by a big group and not restocked.
- 1/5
I didn’t make it because of the airlines being shut down
- 1/5
Had a leak in the ceiling that had our bed wet and the heater didn’t work. There was also a key issue that never got resolved. We got 5 different sets of keys and they maybe work once and then wouldn’t work again. We ended up just not closing the door all the way when we left our room. The manager said all she could offer was a small discount on our stay, which doesn’t even cover the cost to replace everything that was ruined by the water explosion in our first room. She was suppose to call me back and never did. Needless to say, we will never be staying at the red lion again. We were not the only family in our club that experienced issues and had to move rooms.
- 2/5
I didn't realize that there was no free breakfast. The hotel looked very old and felt dirty. Employees were not friendly and helpful
- 3/5
Would have been nice if this was stated when we arrived!
- 2/5
The hotel is obviously under renovation. There weren't a lot of available rooms that had been cleaned and were ready. They did offer an upgrade. The carpet in the hallways and stairwells were very dirty. I did let the front desk manager know upon my departure.
- 2/5
Dark, dingy a d dated. I requested a needed ADA room as my usual. As i was checking in someone called the fromt desk wanting to change rooms. The person helping me stopped to help them. I can't stand long so i went to sit down until she was ready. As soon as i sat down, she was "ready". I got up to complete my registration but she still has me wait at the counter to help the customer on the phone. She gives that person my reserved ADA room and then proceeds to find a room for us. She wanted to give me a room on the second floor simcw it's only 1 flight of stairs amd they don't have an elevator. I had to go sit back down but my friend explained that I can't climb stairs and we end up in a room next to the loudest ice machine known to man!. I just wanted to sit in the jacuzzi to be relaxed to watch tv in bed later. The jacuzzi was nice and hot but we were laughing at the 1989 jets that were still trying to work! Whatever, it still felt great. We go back to the room, get cleaned up, crawl into bed with our uce cream ready to watch TV. Welp, the TV didnt work either. They sent someone rather quickly. That guy had to call another guy and then said in order for it to work, he'd have to change all the cords. Um, ok, that's fine with me. But, he was standing there looking at us before saying, how do you feel about just moving to a different room?" I, physically, couldn't. He seemed reluctant to have to change the TV cords so my friend jokingly says, "we can just take a discount!"...

It smelled pretty badly inside the hallways. Staff wasn’t so chatty. Didn’t really explain much like why I was charged the extra $100 deposit so I had to ask someone else at the desk the next morning when checking out. Also.. was told a continental breakfast cost an extra $7 per person. For the cost it should have been included.
- 1/5
The room was old and dated. It even smelled old. The temperature was around 85 degrees, and the pool and hot tub were locked up. There was no security lock on the door from the outside to our corridor, so anyone cold have come in. I was woken up 2 or 3 times by people yelling up and down the hallway. Never again!!
- 5/5
Yes
- 3/5
The inky thing we have to mention is that the bathroom smelled so bad… it was smelling like a sweaty dirty mop. We mentioned it to housekeeping and they addressed the situation immediately . We stay quite regularly and are always happy with service , staff, rooms etc. This was the first time we had to mention something and they were awesome in responding. Will definitely be back
- 4/5
The room was very clean.
- 4/5
Nothing really stood out, but overall was clean and safe.
- 5/5
Clean and easy
- 2/5
Heater did not work, had the thermostat cranked up to 85 degrees. Nothing! Was cold all night.
- 5/5
The front desk person was friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
This is the first time I've stayed in a hotel room without hot water; only cold water came out from the showerhead, so I couldn't take a shower. I noticed this problem around 1 am. It was too late to contact repairs or request a room change. Plus, there was the sound of trucks outside our room very early in the morning, which was extremely noisy.
- 5/5
Kind & Courteous. Clean room.
- 1/5
This property has gone down hill. Needs remodel. Heater did not work. Room smelled, not as clean as a room should be. Hygiene products were very low, only enough for one traveler. The bar was fun, great bartender. Stayed for a conference and grabbed a coffee in the lobby headed to conference and received a dirty look from the manager/owner. Convenient location.
- 5/5
Our room met our expectations
- 3/5
The room was not clean. I don’t have pet and they put me in a pet side room. I didn’t like it much
- 2/5
Hallways were not vacuumed. Keys didn’t work well. Shower curtain not fresh, cracks in floor in our room
- 4/5
Comfortable, quiet, easy check in and out.
- 5/5
Always a nice stay
- 3/5
My bathroom could’ve been cleaned and sanitized better. They were a stench smell that wasn’t pleasant. Otherwise everything else was satisfying.
- 3/5
Besides the bathroom flooring warped and the tv remote having to be really close to tv to change channels overall it was a decent place to stay. Would recommend replacing damaged flooring, shampooing and vacuuming the hall ways also the breakfast is not free
- 2/5
The room had clearly been damaged from the room above but the repair job was not done well or correctly. The floor near the bathroom was still damaged and felt like it was rotten underneath from water damage. The staff at check in was nice but there was no coffee at breakfast or anyone at the coffee bar.
- 4/5
The bed mattress was very used. I could not sleep the 1st night due to the bed was not firmer enough
- 5/5
Front desk staff was kind and welcoming at my 2am check-in
- 4/5
The staff was very helpful, especially Cecilia and Mike. The hotel could use a facelift - not dirty, just old.
- 5/5
I love the room view, and I so happy in the time that I spend there!
- 3/5
Not clean and a noisy room. Better options in this area.
- 2/5
Heater was very noisy and temperature control did not work.Could not turn off the fan. Room was worn out.
- 5/5
Thank you for such a lovely stay at your hotel.
- 1/5
Poorly taken care of
- 2/5
AC did not work, room smelled like cigarettes, the fridge was full of water, had to sleep with the balcony door open do to hot stuffy room to hear the noisy freeway along with someone's car alarm, the breakfast buffet was advertised on arrival but noted along with other guests in the morning that it cost $8.99 ea. They even charged me an additional $15.00 for a roll away bed, for my son.
- 5/5
easy late checkin
- 3/5
Good
- 4/5
It was fine
- 5/5
Everything was very pleasant. The bartendar was excellent! Jacuzzi was great.
- 3/5
Room was very noisy. Food was very good
- 4/5
Room was clean. Weekend nights are definitely busy with the on site bar requiring a door man. The grounds and pool view were nice
- 3/5
Pool nice.
- 5/5
I sent my crew here for a construction trip. Not only are the rooms a great rate, but they took excellent care of my guys and worked with me on extending our rooms when project delays came up. I highly recommend booking here.
- 3/5
It was all right. Nothing special.
- 4/5
Helpful staff.
- 5/5
great parking close to major shopping
- 2/5
Did not honor the VIP from my reservation. Hot water problems and staff was not welcoming.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely friendly and nice. Love the pool area. The bar and resturant had a DJ both nights we were there so we had an amazing time! The bar tender was great and made fantastic drinks. Place is a little older and needs some upkeep and remold but it was clean, comfortable and we felt safe. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Its situated close to dining options, shopping centers, and has a nice swimming pool and a warm jacuzzi
- 4/5
They don’t do daily cleanup
- 1/5
While the front desk people tried their best and moved my room twice, they simply didn’t have any ability to fix the issues. The level of noise from humming, buzzing equipment in the building made it impossible to sleep. Exhausting experience - you will do better in a cheap motel.
- 3/5
The clock in the room and a client cannot change it. Have wait until the morning for maintenance!! Which is when I was checking out!!
- 5/5
Great hotel / great location / has a bar & grill / easy and safe parking / Restaurants across the street .. Our assistant, Duval, is exceptional at what he does- and goes the extra mile ! ..i’d stay there again 👍
- 4/5
We always like staying at the Red Lion. It's a little dated, but nothing major. The rooms are clean and it has a fun retro 70's feel to it. My only quibble is that the food in the lounge has become really mediocre. The service was good, but the food wasn't even trying to be good.
- 5/5
Clean comfortable rooms.
- 4/5
Electronic lock to hallway from parking lot was inoperable. Reported to front desk, was repaired the next morning. Most likely battery replacement. Overall it was a nice stay and we would stay if we pass through Redding again.
- 5/5
Fine hotel pricy breakfast didn’t look great
- 2/5
The staff was good, very helpful and courteous. no one cleaned our room and we stayed two nights , we kept having to go up to the lobby to have our keys reprogrammed and we weren't the only ones. we had to do it three times, it was very inconvenient.
- 3/5
We had a pet room on the ground floor, however the actual bedroom floor was filthy, we mopped up some spilled water and the towel was black. Outside the patio doors was littered with cigarette bits and the smell of weed from other guests was terrible. Our room stank of stale smoke. Bar was lively, we never got our complimentary beverages as we saw beer being served in plastic cups with the barmaids painted nails inside the glass and liquid. I asked about towels for swimming and the nice receptionist suggested if there were none out there, to call reception. Obviously she knew there would be none, and she was correct. Basically very thin on staff, badly run hotel, with quality control and training issues. Breakfast was good and the pool looked decent.
- 4/5
It’s got the charm of 80s movies set in the PNW but it’s not trying to. The area around the property is a little sketch at night and it’s surrounded by a mall with Darden chain restaurants. But the hotel grounds are actually pretty nice. The staff were great too.
- 2/5
The room was old looking worn out! Bathroom sink didn’t drain; A/C wouldn’t shut off; TV didn’t work!
- 5/5
Clean, nice pool and close to event
- 3/5
We've traveled to this motel 4 times this year just for weekend getaway The highlight always has been the hot tub and the pool This time though the hot tub was out of order and I didn't call first my mistake Some Compensation would have been in order just make sure you call first
- 4/5
Good check in and clean room
- 2/5
There are a lot of other hotels in this price point in the area- select someplace else.
- 4/5
The breakfast that you pay 899 for is an actual basic continental breakfast that you can get at any hotel for free with your stay that was a joke and a waste of money
- 5/5
Great service
- 4/5
Staff awesome. Prepaid checkin great! Parking lot well lit. On site dining and family bar. Pool very nice. No elevator to second floor. Dogs allowed west side! Easy parking for truck and cargo. Shopping surrounds the area. Every known food is nearby.
- 3/5
This property is quite old and in need of significant upgrades, particularly with the carpet flooring and the furniture on the balconies. Another major issue is that smokers are placed in rooms closer to the pool, which causes cigarette smoke and odor to spread throughout the entire area, making it uncomfortable for non-smokers.
- 4/5
Red Lion Hotel is a nice, comfortable place to stay in a quiet but appealing neighborhood. They are busy and understaffed, but the staff are pleasant and professional, and the room was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Easy access to our room. Liked the absence of carpet in the room. Appreciated the mini fridge and microwave in room.
- 1/5
Appears very different than photos. Not clean found something In my bed
- 4/5
We were not informed that Room Service only cleans every third day. A rude surprise with no coffee or clean towels on Day 2 of our stay, We contacted the Front Desk and they said they would put coffee in the room. They did not, We called again. They did not. The last morning when someone knocked on the door and we were told by a nice young man that he was waking us up as he was told, He finally got us clean towels and coffee,
- 3/5
Location was good. Wifi was frustrating as it kept kicking me off after a few minutes. It was clean, but you can tell that many corners were cut (costco krikland kcups for coffee). Bar closes early, but it was nice. Staff were friendly. Keys worked each time and parking was good.
- 4/5
Been coming here for years. Great place to stop and cool down by the pool.
- 3/5
Great location, easy check in. Average room . Floor dirty and pink mold in shower. Good water pressure.
- 5/5
Love the pool and staff wish breakfast was longer and the rooms were cleaner
- 1/5
Room is dirty, towels are dirty, bed covers dirty. Special towels are still stained on it. The smell of the room is like mold. Under the bed not cleaned at all. Over all need to be closed
- 3/5
The front desk staff were polite and the room was very quiet. The hallway carpet was dirty and there were scuff marks and scratches on the base boards and walls. In my guest room, the heating/air vent had an accumulation of dust, the shower still had the previous guest’s hair on the wall, and the ceiling had random patches of paint that didn’t match in color or finish. The flooring didn’t feel clean under foot, so I washed my feet and wore shoes for the entirety of my stay. The hotel definitely needs a refresh, and some attention to detail would be appreciated from guests.
- 5/5
Wonderful.
- 3/5
The entire building, as well as our non-smoking room, has an unbearable cigarette smell. The facilities were in fairly sad shape; broken hot tub, dirty pool. They seemed to be very understaffed, and I felt terrible for the lone front desk person who kept getting yelled at by everyone in line in front of us. The phones just kept ringing and ringing because there was apparently only one person working at the whole place, so I had to wait in line for 30 minutes to request an extra towel.
- 3/5
I like that I was able to check in earlier I didn’t like that I was charged for it if I had known I’d be charged I would have walked around the mall till 3pm
- 2/5
Wow, this place was terrifying! Everything inside just felt really icky and dark. The carpet in the hallway was outdated and dirty looking. Trimmings around our door were rotting at the bottom. There was lots of dirt inside of cracks and seams between the floorboards in our room. Our room had a strange smell, like someone had been smoking, but it was covered up with heavy fragrance. Nighttime staff who checked us in was super unfriendly. The people who were in the room next to us checked in at midnight and were very loud. I called the front staff to ask them to talk to them and I think they did because they did get quieter, but I could hear their actual words through the walls and their alarm in the morning at 6 AM. Maybe the walls are just so thin!? All of those are somewhat minor details that made it uncomfortable, but the worst part is how unsafe it felt. We were traveling with our dogs and so I had to walk them around to go to the bathroom before bed. There were two separate people sitting in their cars. One was definitely nodding out from drugs and the other one just looked really drunk. There was a group of guys smoking weed around the corner. I have really large dogs and so I felt protected, but it creeped me out to be walking around so late with all of this unattended activity going on in the parking lot. I don’t know if it’s just a bad part of town but I would not stay here again especially with kids. The breakfast, though was very good! One redeeming quality!
- 3/5
Extremely slow check-in, dirty room upon check-in. Poor heating and cooling system. Keys kept failing. Overall poor stay.
- 5/5
Love it!
- 3/5
Pool was very nice and kid friendly. Breakfast food was sub par. Loved walking to good dining restaurants.
- 3/5
Air conditioner on all night and noisy couldn’t turn it off ruined my sleep!
- 5/5
A wonderful stay as always
- 3/5
Our family stayed here for two nights. We had a nice large 2 queen bed room which was nice and spacious for our family of 5. The pool was great and my kids enjoyed swimming there. I most likely will not stay here again because it did feel a little dingy due to the age of the hotel and although the rooms are “no smoking” now you can still smell the lingering odor. It wasn’t enough to be a constant nuisance but it was definitely noticeable upon arrival when you walked into the hallways or rooms.
- 3/5
Red Lion hotels have lost their purpose. All run down with no interest in quality. Very disappointing. Posted photos misleading.
- 2/5
Not in the best area and the hotel in general is a lot older.
- 5/5
Nice out door area, room is a little dated. Live music
- 3/5
Rooms were okay, clean but property was older.
- 2/5
the key badge was very hard to use and it took a lot of tries to attempt to open the door. at least 10 times. not being funny, i’m being serious.
- 4/5
The key cards don’t work easily
- 5/5
Nice beds quiet and nice pool
- 1/5
At arrival we were given keys that did not work. Entering the room asked maid for pillow, never received. The room is filthy, looks like someone spit up on the slider glass door. Coffee maker did not work. Went to front desk to ask them to come back and clean, said no problem and they never did. Terrible experience would never recommend
- 2/5
We looked it up, and it looks like this type prefers the outdoors, but will venture indoors if the population gets too large. It is also not associated with indoor infestations. Still, ew. Staff tried to only give included free drinks (water is the only option) to the adults, when it said all guests on Expedia. (She changed her mind when I pointed this out.) Door to the room is misaligned with the lock, and you have to lift the door up to get it to lock (not easy). Generally, I’d say the cleaning staff is doing a good job; however, there was a sticky spot on the top of the cabinet below the TV, and trash under/next to the fridge. We didn’t use it, but the pool looked beautiful and well maintained. Nice little courtyard-type areas, but I wish the chairs had been cleaner. Rooms are a decent size, which is nice. The entire facility is smoke-free; though I wish the page on Expedia had specified this, as I paid more for an option that specifically listed non-smoking. With so many other options in the area, we probably won’t stay here again. Overpriced for what we got.
- 5/5
The pool, kids pool, and hot tub were lovely. The food, staff, and atmosphere of the Three Shastas bar and grill were great, and it was conveniently located next to the pool. There was karaoke on Thursday night and kids were welcome! We had so much fun ☺️
- 3/5
It was okay when I checked in but once daylight hit and I looked around it was pretty dirty. Floors werent clean, hair in the sink, shower, and toilet seat. A huge dead bug by the room door and the carpets in the hallways I used to like to stay here but I won't stay again.
- 3/5
Older building with a weird smell
- 5/5
great property nice outside pool close to restaurants clean and quiet very nice
- 3/5
Facility was older and not updated very much. It was clean but had to request a light bulb which was missing in bedside lamp.
- 3/5
VIP drink was water. Liquid soap in shower didn’t work. On site restaurant was better than expected. Nice Kerig in room. Noisy air conditioner. Room comes with fridge and microwave.
- 1/5
This hotel used to be pretty good but omg had it gone downhill. First off the door to get into the building to get to the rooms that should require a key card is broken and the mechanism completely ripped out. Then as we got settled for the night realized our Sliding glass door did not lock the lock was completely broken as well as the deadbolt completely removed not only that the deadbolt lock to our room was broken. When I went down to the front desk the next morning they decided to send someone up to fix it so we left for a few hours and once we came back they replaced the lock on the sliding door but never checked it bc it didn’t even line up to lock the door. On top of all of this the toilet stopped working and our shower had public hair in it. Having to contact the front desk again instead of just giving us a new safe room since we are a group of girls traveling they sent yet another guy to come fix it. At this point we can’t even just be comfortable in our room we have no locks and we are a group of girls. The pool also doesn’t ever have towels and is dirty and broke down looks nothing like the hotel pictures at all. Housekeeping also never came and cleaned our room to top it all off. All in all to stay here two nights and spend almost $400 is outrageous with how dirty and run down and unsafe this place is. I will never stay here again and recommend no one else does either
- 3/5
Room seemed pretty clean. The hotel in general is pretty run down. No free breakfast. Our TV didn't work. Only 2 towels for 4 guests. But otherwise, linens seemed clean, AC wasn't too loud.
- 4/5
The decor & bldg seemed a little older, but room was spacious and staff was very friendly. Pool was great!
- 4/5
Nice room - comfortable.
- 1/5
We got assigned a room that someone else was already in and I walked in on a man showering. Next we got switched rooms to a room that we didn’t reserve. We asked to leave and the property agreed for a full refund and I still don’t see any refund in my account.
- 3/5
Rooms were adequate but possible update would upgrade plus no microwave and at the opposite end on 107 degree day, no ice. Pool area and grounds were great.
- 4/5
The night check-in woman wasn’t particularly pleasant, and the door to parking nearest our room was unusable. The room was nice, the fridge cold, lots of towels, and a larger outdoor pool. The grounds were nicely kept, with lots of grass. There was a sliding door in our room which we also couldn’t use, even though there were patio chairs right outside all the rooms. The lobby had a filtered water dispenser for reusable water bottles, which was cool. Very reasonable price.
- 4/5
The pluses were spacious room, swimming pool, hot tub and fridge and microwave in the room. Unfortunately I switched rooms for a few minor dirty issues. The new room I moved to had a broken deadbolt/latch. It was replaced immediately upon request. (Thank you) several of the doors to the outside , that require a room key to enter were broken, therefore allowing anyone entrance to the property. It was a pleasure trip and the hotel served our needs for the trip.
- 5/5
They need to open the pool earlier. We weren't able to use the pool before check out.
- 4/5
Clean rooms with very nice and helpful staff. The hotel is very outdated and the key card took several times to work. With both the outside doors and the door to the room. I had to go get a new key card and I still had trouble getting it to work the entire stay.
- 3/5
Could use a major renovation
- 3/5
The hotel has a strong odors before you get to your room. I hope someday that they will give more attention to the smell.
- 1/5
The key cards constantly deactivated and I had to get new cards multiple times every day. I was assaulted at the pool and they gave everyone a free breakfast instead of kicking the woman out. The place is run down, dirty and there isn’t enough staff to help people at the front desk. The wait to check in was 45 minutes and I had to wait for new card keys for over 30 minutes every time I had to get new ones. I will never stay here again.
- 4/5
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. BUT!!! The 2 that did make our stay worth it was the front desk representative Renee!! (And Cecilia of course) Renee is faily new, but an outstanding staff member to have. She handled the sharp, curt and barking orders, from someone whom will remain nameless, however she bares a very close resemblance Yzma from Emperors New Grove. Renee was a doll and they were soooo busy, but treated everyone with the same smile and perk.. she was great!
- 3/5
No ice in ice machines. A/C in room was loud and vent was damaged.
- 3/5
We checked in late, around 9pm and that went great! We even got a small unexpected gift bag. I was totally willing to overlook some small inconveniences in our room, however the next morning when i called to request a later check out, I was essentially cutoff during my request, being told it "wasnt possible". When I brought up there was a dead moth in our shower, I was told it would be passed on to housekeeping. This completely took away from our stay, making all the things we were willing to overlook stand out. Dead bug in shower, spiderwebs all over deck, broken dirty phone that didnt work so we couldnt use it to contact room service. All of that would have been fine, even for a room costing us $200 for one night, but the rudeness of the front desk, specifically Russell, was too much. Dont cut your customers off when they are still speaking. Note for training in customer service - even if you think you "can't " meet a request, ask what you CAN do. 15 minutes later for check out would have made all the difference in a review.
- 1/5
Place is dirty and rooms smell terrible and filled with cockroaches
- 2/5
I stepped on a piece of glass at the pool, which then my son went to go get management and they gave him tweezers and that was hit. They never came out to see if I was OK or to sweep up the glass. Then we had to go back to the office four times for keys because the keys wouldn’t work to get into the building or the room. And then the back door did not work. We had to use all our force just to get it open, and then we could not lock it.
- 1/5
This place was ok. The room needed put dated but the walls needed to be painted again. The outside carpet was probably the originals from when I was a kid. Had a marching band staying above us. Could sleep until after midnight. The money doesn't warrant our stay
- 4/5
Disappointed in housekeeping
- 4/5
We really liked this hotel. Good price---would have given 5 stars if it included breakfast. Definitely dated--but very clean. Only stayed one night. The room they gave us was seemed very isolated and the glass door opened up to the parking lot. I would have loved a spot that opened up to the courtyard.
- 5/5
The staff was so kind and helpful!
- 4/5
Very friendly staff at the desk super accommodating I'm pregnant so they made sure to get me a ground level floor to ride and have to do a lot of walking however the bed was super uncomfortable the pillows were really flat and the screen door like the glass door the sliding door was super heavy and hard to open and close but other than that it was good
- 3/5
Most ice machines were not working. Noisy neighbors with multiple dogs. Initially brown water came out the bathroom sink.
- 4/5
Feel safe when I stay here been coming to this hotel for years
