La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Roanoke Salem

We had a 1 night stay while traveling and found this La Quinta to meet our needs! Close to I-81, nice sized room with comfortable king bed, excellent breakfast in the morning, and near to Salem, VA, where we ate at Awful Arthur’s and enjoyed an excellent supper! Highly recommend!

The Mountains was an Awesome View Nice Historical Area Bathroom was Walk in and It was a HandiCapped Bathroom, Only Problem , it was a Walk In for Sure., One More Thing Pwrson on Top of Us was LOUD , very Disturbing, Called Office it Settled Down.

Staff was very cordial and helpful. In general, the room was clean, but the bathtub could have used a little bit more scrubbing. Breakfast has a good variety and choices for the busy traveler to take with them.

If you are looking for a decent hotel at an affordable price then the Laquinta Inn in Salem, VA will work great. We came here to hike the Triple Crown Loop and the stay worked well. The staff allowed us to leave our cars in the parking lot while we hiked. The hotel itself is nothing special: it is clean, has a basic lobby with a basic breakfast and basic rooms. Nothing to knock your socks off. The lobby is small, but works. The washer and dryer are coin operated with no ATM and a staff that seem kind of bored and uninterested. Not bad, but it works.

The staff is great! We were greeted, and treated with love!! The breakfast was nice, waffle maker, juice, muffins, toast, sausage, and egg with cheese. The room was clean, the only thing that you should be aware of, so that it won't catch you off guard. The sink in the room is the first thing that you see when you open the door. It is separated from the shower and toilet. The hotel is smoke free, and the staff works hard to keep it that way, but it seems that some guests sneak to smoke because we did smell both the scent of weed, and also cigarette smoke coming through the bathroom vent. We did see (2) stink bugs. One at night, and one in the morning. The lobby area looks a lot larger in pictures than it does when you arrive, it connects with the breakfast area so it's not a lot of space in the lobby. If you need a place to stay in between your travels for a good rate, this is great, the beds are very comfortable! But if you are looking to stay for more than a day, please keep searching and reading honest reviews. The reason for this review is for hopes of the property owner to work a little harder to make this Hotel a place that can be viewed on a grander scale because I truly care about your success. I look forward to seeing this hotel become a diamond, because it can be.

I believe the room was 203. The fridge made a water gurgle sound all night..I thought it was upstairs toilet flushing but discovered it was fridge. Had to use ear plugs. The thermostat did not work, Although we set it at 62 we were still warm. The shower was awful

Staff was great, everything was clean and the amenities were sufficient, though there is no table with a chair. Also, I was placed in a conjoined room. The other room was rented to a couple of strangers, and at around 2:30 am I was awoke by, and became an unwilling participant in someone else's romantic evening. Do not recommend this kind of room, there is a severe lack of privacy.

There was a pending charge of $25 for incidentals that was not advertised until we checked in. The amount was quickly refunded upon check out, however, these fees need to be advertised in advance.

I was traveling with 2 pets and LaQuinta made it a nice, comfortable stay.

I was excited to stay at this hotel due to Expedia rating. But evidently it must have been exaggerated by staff. Twenty minutes to check in, rotten apple in breakfast options, being woken up by the loud housecleaning staff each morning down the hall, dirty public bathroom, odd room set-up was all very disappointing.

My room was clean, the staff were friendly and professional, breakfast was convenient with a variety of choices, and parking accommodated the guests. This is my first choice hotel going forward. I'm done with disappointments.

3 minute drive to a cute cafe on the way to the mountains- 2/3 triple crown trail heads were 7-10 mins away. Roanoke downtown was about 18 mins away. I don’t travel a lot so I just look for a clean room and basic amenities.

When traveling North to South, easy off and on I81. Inn quiet, clean, comfortable. Breakfast good. Really appreciated the hot eggs and sausage. Apple juice was very good. Staff friendly and efficient. Will stay here again in Nov of 2026.

The whole hotel is flooded with air fresheners. I’m in my room and it is also pumped with air fresheners. It is just too much for someone that can’t handle them. I can’t even use them in my own home. I’m not happy. The hotel is very lovely otherwise.

Everything about the hotel was great...convenient, comfortable room, safe, pleasant atmosphere and pet friendly. However, the room next to me had a barking dog and the owner kept leaving dog in the room. I travel to dog shows and had 2 dogs of my own with me but knowing mine will bark if left unattended, I always take them with me out of repect for fellow travelers. This was not the fault of the hotel but I wanted to vent about the selfish, disrespectful acts of other dog owners.

Looks like an older hotel but it is extremely clean and conveniently located from the interstate, the McAfee Knob trailhead, and not too far from downtown. Lots of good dining options, not walking distance but within a couple miles drive. Price is right also, can't get any better.

Salem is a picturesque place, nestled in the Virginia mountains, If you have time to explore, it's quite lovely with historical sites as well.

From check in to check out it was a great experience. They have a very good pre-check in that we were able to do online the day before, that made actual arrival at the hotel a breeze. We stayed at laquinta in Winchester Va. Gave that excellent. Looked online for Salem area. The place looked really nice on line. When we arrived and went into our room, it was outdated. Clean but funny smell. Bathroom very outdated.We had to walk dogs in very high grass. Was disappointed compared to other one we just left.

Staff was excellent, very helpful. Allowed us special parking for or truck and trailer. The room was stuffy and warm when we entered. The soap, shampoo, etc. are watered down. The sheets were a little scratchy. Room was clean.

There were some hiccups during check in which the staff resolved after some time. Room was comfortable enough, bathroom a bit outdated and small. Lighting throughout the hotel was uninviting fluorescent lights.

I wish there was an option for pet free zones in the hotel. The only issues I had was with the guest nearby. The guest next door blasted the TV volume till late night and then left their dog in their room and it was barking the entire morning.

The staff was very pleasant, and I enjoyed the omelettes served at breakfast. But I wasn't as impressed with the hotel as others were. The public restroom on the first floor was not clean. I checked my bed for bedbugs and noticed that the mattress pad was very stained and possible unclean. I was moved to another room and found a hair in the sheets on one bed.
