The one thing we really enjoyed here was the adults only pool. Everything else was a flop. From speaking to the staff this hotel was bought out by corporate year and it’s really gone down hill since. I booked this as a weekend trip to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. I paid for a King balcony room and upon arrival, since booking with Booking.com they placed us in a double queen garden room. I expressed my displeasure and the manager offered a bottle of champagne but nothing else. My husband went to the desk and then expressed professionally this is unacceptable and they then switched us to a king room without a working tv.. to which it took maintenance 3 hours to fix. They did not apologize for the way they previously treated me. The stay itself was mediocre. It’s very evident they are lacking staff everywhere. There are empty glasses everywhere, trash and the grounds are not kept up like previously. The waterfalls are not working properly, staff that are working are chatting and not tending to guests. Upon coming back to the gate we were waived through without asking for our name and security was pretty lazy all around. Nonetheless, it’s obvious that the leadership here is in obvious disarray and after many attempts to address it they failed.

Junior Suite was perfect with the pool view. Always enjoy dining at the hotel, ordering room service or a quick shuttle ride to La Cantera shopping center where you'll find a little bit of everything. It's my go-to hotel anytime I visit San Antonio

Great resort hotel on the nicest side of San Antonio. La Cantera is a great resort offering Swim activities for kids and adults and great Golf and Spa options for adults. The resort is huge with multiple pools for all ages. Great restaurants nearby.

That said, the rooms feel a bit dated, the beds are not luxe, and the bedding feels sparse. Aside from the patio restaurant which had a fabulous steak and waiter, the food quality on site was surprisingly poor considering the $600+ nightly rate. The chicken was rubbery, produce lacked freshness, and sides tasted canned. My fiancé’s chicken wings were served cold inside twice. We kept dining on property hoping for a better experience, but were consistently disappointed. I’d recommend eating elsewhere. We were a bit frustrated by the concierge’s misguidance. She directed us to the golf course restaurant after a long travel day, only for us to arrive as it was closed. The golf pub appeared understaffed, likely due to a conference or private event. The bartender was doing her best while managing a large crowd, and we felt for her. Her lack of support resulted in her seeming stressed, which took away from the overall light and joyful vibe you prefer when on vacation. Not her fault. We did enjoy staying on the SEVEN floor. The lounge access, snacks, happy hour, and evening offerings were a nice touch, and the attendant was warm, lovely, attentive, and welcoming. Again, the spa is the highlight! Go as a couple. Go alone. Do not skip it! My massage was 10/10 and the amenities were outstanding.

The resort is relaxing and the pools are terrific. Places to eat were excellent from causual lunches to refined dining. Upgraded my room to the adult 7th floor and was treated to breakfast of quiche, croissants, esspresso and evening happy hour of beer and wine with a tray of cheeses, meats, nuts and fruits. Had a great vacation and needed escape.

The property was beautiful with lots of things to do and restaurant choices; however, it all comes with a hefty price tag. Something I was not prepared for was the nightly charge for parking (self-parking and/or valet) and the hike from the parking lot carrying all of my luggage to the front doors. In hot, humid San Antonio, I was gassed before we even checked in. We attended a wedding on the hotel property and were thankful for the complimentary shuttle service to the venue. We also enjoyed the pool and hut tub in the evening. Having stayed at several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and Jamaica, La Cantera had a similar vibe but was definitely NOT all-inclusive. Everything costed extra on top of the basic room price. Saying that, I would stay here again for a special occasion, but if I need a simple overnight stay, there are definitely more affordable hotels.

Been to this resort every year for years. We usually don’t eat on property except for Signature (amazing) and pool side. This time we decided to stay on property and to be honest not impressed at all. We skipped big breakfast and ate at Henrietta’s not good at all!! Lunch time we ate at Spitfire and had a sandwich. Service was very slow. The sandwich was good except for all the oil saturated on the bread. Dinner we ate Mexican, not impressed at all. I truly feel for the top notch hotel i feel it is the food should be also

The room on first walk in was good. In the bathroom the false door fell off and wouldn’t easily seat back on the cabinet. There is a 3” hole in the ceiling. The knob on top of the faucet is not attached. They are both heavy and make plenty of noise on the counter/ floor when it falls off at 3am. They both fell off. Breakfast was an absolute waste. Even with a reservation we waited 40 minutes for a table. Not because they were that busy, but because over half of the dining room had dirty tables. Pool employees were brought in to bus the tables. The food was sub par and the coffee was terrible. The first waiter was very helpful, and so was the second. There was plenty of staff

Although this was a beautiful hotel, the service was very unprofessional! After paying $2000 for 2 rooms and 2 nights, I was charged for room service that was never delivered to the room nor ordered. It was likely a hotel staff member that booked another room under my name for 4 hours, ordered room service and left. The customer service representatives had no clue what was going on and said I signed the receipt when I never did. What a poor experience! Be sure to check your receipts when you check out

Horrible experience. Loved the hotel before Hilton took over. Upon arrival we had no help or valet assistance (they were no where to be found), they placed us in a room on the basement level (for nearly $500/night). After finally getting in touch with management they moved us to the 6th floor in the main building and there was a COCKROACH crawling across the floor in our room. To top it off after requesting a refund multiple times the best they’ve yet to come back with was comping a free night. Horrible. Wish we would have had better customer service so we could rebook as we used to love this hotel and spa.

This place has really gone downhill and needs a total overhaul. We planned a whole relaxing day at the spa. It wasn’t relaxing. A spa is supposed to be quiet and peaceful. The employees both in the massage area and the salon make way too much noise - talking in overly loud voice and laughing. The clientele also very loud. The spa pool was dirty- murky water, outdoor furniture was tattered and dirty. Ordered a glass of champagne by pool and it was dirty. We ate dinner at Sweetfire. Ordered the half chicken and it was swimming in gravy. Was also disappointed that the main bar only served charcuterie boards. Would’ve eaten some bar food if they had anything else. One redeeming aspect was Henrietta’s market. Coffee and breakfast was good. Overall the interiors are dark, outdated. I know the Hilton bought this place. Maybe it’ll get better. It’s still a beautiful setting but needs an overhaul and not worth the cost anymore. I won’t go back.

The spa is the best part about this place, it’s easily accessible, has its own pool, the amenities are really cool. I will say one of their elevators wasn’t working the entire weekend, and the fire alarms went off around 9:30 am because of some pipe backup situation. Room service was amazing, but be sure to ask for salt & pepper when ordering breakfast as the eggs are bland. Staying on the 7th floor was worth it, I would do it again. Valet workers could be a little nicer (the men, the girls were nice).

My husband and I had the best time relaxing at the adults only pool. We floated, talked, tanned, and read like it was our full-time job! My only critique would be that for the price, you expect the facilities/pools to be in pristine condition. The tiles around the pool needed some maintenance and one day, a worker was cleaning gunk off the tiles while we were in the pool. Kind of gross—maybe that could be done when the pool is closed? But overall, a great trip! We would go again!

The property is great, but the resort is very understaffed. Took forever to park and check in. Then at 5:00 am on the first night, the fire alarm malfunctioned and went off. The line for coffee in the morning is like a 30 minute wait. The restaurants stop serving early as well and apparently are sometimes close early to host private parties. Nice property with great golf, but they need to staff up as their occupancy increases.

Property is nice but for a holiday weekend you would think more than 1 bar and more staff available for service. Room was updated but lobby was warm and furniture is dated. May not go back until more updating is done because of the price.

First time staying here and I am not a fan. First off, the staff is super friendly and helpful, except for one instance. I have no problems with the people. The resort itself does not support its own amenities. They have a pool that stays open until midnight but the bars close by 10pm, other bars on the property close earlier. They have great seating with firepits, except getting a firepit lit is almost impossible. We asked an employee and he made it clear that maintenance had to light the pit and it would be a long time. Why? Whats the point? Room service food is very generic. Arcade claw machines are super stingy, like that’s what they make their money on. Self parking was full, so I had to use Valet and get upcharged. They definitely oversold day passes for the pool on Saturday. Too many people, not enough staff. People in our area were upset and cancelling orders after no one showed up for an hour. No umbrellas or shade options by the kids pool, unless you paid for a private cabana. I turned in my keycards to the front desk and instead of accepting it, they pointed to a return bucket on the next desk. I get it, its right there, but come on. Just take the key and wish me a nice day. I obviously have suitcases and bags all over me. Just a bunch if little things that add up to fake luxury. This place can do so much better. And to top it off, they used the wrong name in the email they sent me to review this place. Perfect. Exactly what I would expect after this weekend.

Amazing stay. I have loved this resort since i was a kid and i couldnt think of a better way to celebrate my 30th birthday. Bokking with expedia i was eligible for a free floor upgrade to the top floor and a $35 room credit to use towards anyone of the amenities around the resort. Will be back every year for my birthday

Only there for one evening as we were passing through, but loved our stay. Everyone was super friendly and Trinity at the front desk was awesome with check-in and even gave us a choice of what and where we wanted our room to be. Trinity set the tone for the rest of the stay. Would definitely recommend to others and will stay again next time in San Antonio.

If you valet, you will pay a premium (but for what), my 1st night there the "system" was down and the next day they had to "find" my car. At checkout I waited 23 minutes for them to get my car and then I had to walk to my car, they couldn't even pull it up. Needless to say La Cantera did not offer a reduction-disappointing.

We really enjoyed our stay here, staff was super friendly and attentive at the pool. I did book a king bed room and complained when they put me in a queen bed room, they said they overbooked and had to move some guests around so I didn’t appreciate that they couldn’t fix it, but by the end of the stay I made a complaint and they took 105 bucks off my bill so at least they did that. Other than that it was very pleasant!

Er have stayed here many times and this was so disappointing. There were no activities even though they charge a resort fee. The sheets are like sandpaper. The service at the restaurant was awful. We spent the first 1.5 after checking in just trying to get a room because there was drilling and happening above us in the first room and the second was a total downgrade and finally the third was decent. There was no VIP upgrade. The only thing for kids was the slide and they closed it in the afternoon for an hour. It goes on and on…

La Cantera is a stunning resort. It has been my staycation destination over the last several years. The kids pool is a huge hit with my son. Front desk staff, valet, dining, housekeeping, management have always been welcoming and accommodating. I love being able to text guest services and receive a quick response. This most recent visit did have hiccups with the room assigned. It was a pleasant surprise to learn I received an Expedia VIP upgrade! BUT…evidently there were repairs going on around the hotel and upon entering the room, it sounded like a jack hammer was in the room next to me. They “upgraded” me again to the Citadel but there was an issue late at night with the bathroom lighting and I learned quite early the next morning my room backed to the staff elevator. Third time was the charm. Honestly the resort, the staff, the location are so wonderful, I did not let it hinder my short stay. However, I would recommend guests be apprised upon check in of any repairs going on at the hotel which may affect guest experience.

Check in was 4pm, and didn’t get a room until 5:30 which they did make up with a late checkout for the same time at 4pm. Rented a daybed for the day couldn’t get to until 6 was still charged full price. All in all a beautiful property but won’t be staying again.

We stayed at the La Cantera Resort to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. We were surprised when we arrived to get our rooms upgraded to the Villas portion of the resort. The girl's weekend stay was a great celebration thank you to the staff at the Villas. My mom had an amazing time and so did all the ladies. We were also given two golf carts to go up to the main pool area. All in all a great stay.
