Reviews
The hotel is praised for its excellent location near Little Italy and the waterfront, as well as its friendly and helpful staff. However, many guests were disappointed with the quality of the breakfast, which often consisted of microwaveable options. Additionally, some guests complained about noise from trains and the high cost of parking.

Breakfast has everything you want! Staff was very friendly and resourceful, gave us coupons to restaurants, recommendations and travel tips. Also a very short drive from The airport and Coronado island.

Could not find Parking, although I jpaid $40.00 for parking
- 5/5
Everything was solid. Held our bags for the day after we checked out as well.
- 5/5
The room was clean. Property is close to food, etc. Staff was attentive and nice.

Good variety for breakfast.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing. I'm not gonna say just one name, from the person that received us to the person that checked us out on the last day. They were amazing. The cleaning staff, the cooking staff, the people that were out in the parking garage cleaning did an excellent job. Me and my family were so blessed that week To be honest, we didn't wanna leave.😉
- 5/5
Great location and clean environment
- 4/5
Location. Near the event we attended and easy to get to the freeway Train kept us up in the evening. Tried to sleep early but couldn’t. Couldn’t get late checkout so we had to cut it very close to checkout time.
- 5/5
The breakfast choices were great! Both hot and cold choices. Our room was big and had 2 queen size beds. The staff was super friendly! We did not have a car.
- 5/5
It was a wonderful. Staff was very nice and breakfast was very good. The only minor thing was the train noise but everything else was great. 😊
- 4/5
Was offered a time share in the lobby and that was odd but overall good hotel!
- 4.5/5
Plenty of options for the breakfast, very nice staff.

This hotel was right in the middle of a large homeless demographic so the main doors do not open, you have to use a key card or buzz the front desk. Our view was of the train tracks for the trains that ran ALL NIGHT long and a persons homeless camp (couch and blanket). In one of the windows of the building next to us, there was a skeleton (like the ones used at Halloween)- needless to say we closed the blinds and never re-opened them. We only stayed one night because our flight was cancelled or I would've found another hotel. When we came down at 4am to check out for our early morning flight there was a security guard sitting in the dark. He must be on guard throughout the evening because of the homeless population. We waited in the building until our uber arrived. Would never stay here again. Did not feel safe, especially with kids.

Hotel was just OK would I stay here again not sure. You had the train going by it was very loud. That would be the biggest reason why I would not stay here again.

Great location
- 5/5
Very nice and helpful staff. Great Location for travelers. The Location is near airport and train station. Great area of downtown and Marina. Great place for families, Breakfast included. Would stay here again.

nothing There's a train passing by my room every 5-10 minutes, impossible to sleep
- 4/5
Reception staff is very frendly, and it's easy to understand letting me know hotel properties and systems. Room is clean, I attended ASMS conference at convention center. I understood the distance from hotel to convention center but a little tired to walk get to convention center. It may use trian if anyone let me know better accessto get to convention center.

The location is perfect, just a 5 min walk to Little Italy where you will find a nice and safe place to walk and eat. The hotel is nice, renovated, friendly staff and serves pretty good breakfast. In addition, you'll be 10 minutes walk from the pier where you'll find good touristic attractions. I strongly recommend it for your next visit.

Location is amazing - close to shops, restaurants, attractions and public transport Unfortunately there's no laundry in the hotel

The rooms didntnhave a safe. I thought most places have safes. We did feel safe in the room but didnt want to walk around with our important papers or things that could have been put in a safe.
- 3/5
Got stuck on the elevators look very old
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the location to be great - walk to the water front and Little Italy. The tram/train bells were annoying, but that’s part of being downtown. Very close to the airport too.
- 5/5
Great location for heading to the port. So much to do around this area, close by places to eat and drink.
- 3/5
Too close to the train tracks didn’t expect the crossbars sounds would run late at night or too early in the morning. The location is in a good area walking distance to Little Italy. The hotel needs an update, parking charge is too high at $40 a night so you’ll lose your deposit spent a week out there breakfast was okay.
- 4.5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. Issues with the elevator not responding to the buttons in the garage.
- 4.5/5
Rooms very clean, location, well managed, great staff Noise from train line (though a white noise machine was in room, which is nice).

We were pleasantly surprised by the value, our room had a spacious room with a king-sized bed, and the complimentary toiletries were top notch. Breakfast and fresh coffee downstairs made mornings easy, and the location couldn’t have been better. The trolley station was right behind the hotel, giving us quick access to downtown and Little Italy, perfect for our Padres game staycation. Free parking was a huge bonus, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Overall, an excellent choice for comfort, convenience, and service.
- 3/5
- Staff were very friendly. Very helpful. Very professional. - Continental breakfast was pretty good. More than the usual pastry and beverages. Had pretty diverse options. Well stocked. - Undergoing a remodel so hotel looked newer and well kept. - Location was prime. Close to the water and close to Little Italy. While we didn't have the opportunity to walk to the gaslamp district, we took an Uber and it took no more than ten minutes. Everything was pretty accessible. Cons - Location was also a con. It is literally near the train/metro and it ran late/often. Building was not soundproofed to minimize the sounds. - Unfortunately for whatever reason, we found quite a bit of ants in the room, though it appeared clean.

Got stuck in San Diego and ended up paying $750 for a room we only used for about 8 hours because we were exhausted and couldn’t find anything else available. Price gouging on holiday weekends should be illegal. On top of that, parking was another $50. At check-in, we were told the pool was on the second floor. We got to our room, changed into our swimsuits, went downstairs, and then found out the pool was actually closed until Monday. The staff said they “forgot to mention it” and suggested we walk down the street to a sister hotel if we wanted to swim. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, especially after a long travel day. Overall, for the price and experience, I would not recommend staying here. If you’re going to price gouge because it’s a holiday weekend, at least make sure your pool is available.

No laundry facility
- 4/5
The only problems was that fridge had food in it from previous people staying there. And no where in writing when I was booking the hotel did they say there is a parking fee. A parking fee should be told to people in the advertising of the hotel so it’s not a surprise when checking in
- 5/5
It was great staying there
- 1/5
I would not recommend this hotel. Upon arrival the lobby smelled like cigarettes, staff was not very friendly. Once we got to our room, it also smelled of cigarettes, when traveling with kids this is just not ok. Our reservation was for 4 people, but our room was only set up 2. We did not have enough towels or pillows. Tried to go to the pool, to be told it was closed (should have been told that on arrival). They told us we could use a different hotels pool, but it was not heated, so we could not use it. The hotel is also right by the train tracks, train horns all night. As if it could not get worse, check out day arrived. Elevators were broken. We asked staff where the stairs were and THEY HAD NO CLUE! Us and other guest had to find them. Then carry all luggage, stroller and our kids down the stairs. The staff were useless and not helpful at all. We will not be back and would NOT RECOMMEND!
- 4/5
Great place to stay, off the beaten path so a bit more reasonable. They are currently undergoing some updates, so I am sure will be improved very soon. The property had everything I needed, great room, free breakfast that was fantastic! Pool and workout room (small, but had needed equipment). The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The MTS trolley stop was only a block away, this was the best aspect of my trip as it was super easy to jump on the trolley to get to the convention center and many other locations in San Diego. For this reason alone, I would stay here for future conventions!
- 5/5
Love the wonderful staff . Room was very clean . Was nice and quiet after a long day of travel, great location on navy pier and across the street from maritime museum and uss midway museum
- 5/5
Historical character and charm. Close to the gaslamp district and walking distance to Petco Park
- 5/5
The rooms was very clean and staff were very helpful and pleasant.
- 5/5
Déjeuner correct, notre chambre était collé sur les rails des trains de ville donc bruyant même la nuit.
- 5/5
Safe location and thanks for free coffee and tea.
- 5/5
Great stay at the Hampton Inn downtown San Diego. Location was ideal to simply park the car and walk to Little Italy, waterfront park, and Seaport Village. The room was clean and spacious. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet had ample choices and the breakfast room was large enough to accommodate large groups comfortably. Would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
We would of liked a hot tub tysm
- 4/5
Breakfast was good
- 5/5
Clean room, spacious and if you are sensitive to noise just ask to be on the side of the hotel away from the train.
- 3/5
The room was clean with a comfortable bed, but when I arrived to check in they didn't have a room available for me despite my reservation. Also, I waited in a line for 30 minutes to check in and only one woman was working at the front desk. Here manager was in the back behind the front desk, but he did not help check people in which seemed odd to me.
- 3/5
40.00 A day to park come on….. room was expensive enough.
- 5/5
They were great it was clean great location. Only thing is our window looked out to the back ally there was an old nasty couch and trash gross.
- 5/5
I really was impressed with all the upgrades of the entire hotel. New carpeting, newly furbed carpet and interior decorations and new revised bathroom.
- 4/5
The room was nice. Didn’t like being directly on the hwy, very noisy. Staff was very helpful. Buffet breakfast was crowded everyday! No chance to enjoy.
- 5/5
Great location to many sights. Little Italy and great restaurants and shops. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 3/5
They have to finish the work on the elevator. Number three has been out of service for years. Lots of homeless people around the hotel.
- 1/5
Hotel is right by train tracks and it had such unsettling feeling was not able to sleep all night, picture those scary motels in movies/shows that was this place. Looked and smelled old. Had faulty light censors that cause them to turn on at all hours of the night.
- 4/5
Overall good experience but there were some minor inconveniences and amenities that were lacking. After check-in, we went to our room, which had a do not enter sign. Apparently, some of the furniture had been washed and was drying. Front desk handled it and got us into a different room. Again just a minor inconvenience. Secondly the parking is awful. The spots are extremely small and space for turning is very limited. I have a medium size SUV and had the worst time fitting into most of the spots. There were also no EV chargers so if that’s something you’re interested in you won’t find it here . For $40 I expected more from the parking experience. Everything else was fine. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was decent and the location was great. I probably would stay here again, but I’m hesitant with the parking.
- 5/5
I forgot his name but this young gentleman at the front desk is very accommodating and welcoming.😊.
- 5/5
First time staying here. Loved the location. Staff were very friendly. And most important, the room was clean. Would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
It made me feel very much like being at home great breakfast in good location over all very nice stay
- 3/5
We weren't aware of the $40 per night charge for parking our car. Also, the noise from our room which faced a side street was loud at night as Amtrack is a block away.
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff were very helpful with extending my stay. Breakfast was very good with several options to choose from. Parking was a bit expensive at $40 a night, and parking spaces were limited in size. With a gmc truck, had a difficult time finding adequate parking.
- 5/5
Breakfast was ok, room was clean and spacious.
- 5/5
The staff was pleasant and professional. Breakfast was nice, hot, and fresh. Parking was high, $40/day, but safe.
- 5/5
My kids loved it and the best thing was the view we had
- 5/5
Staff was great with info about trolly, property was clean and was close to where we were going which was the ball park and seaport village, pretty good breakfast. i would definitely recommend this hotel !
- 5/5
Everything was great, close to farmers market, beach, and gaslamp area
- 4/5
Location was great...Access to nearly everything
- 5/5
Property was nice, going through some upgrades! Loved the area close to stuff to do! Staff was friendly and nice. Enjoyed being in walking distance to little Italy! Nice and clean would stay with them again .
- 5/5
Little older hotel but rooms were really clean. Walking distance to the harbour.
- 5/5
So close to the rental car center and port of San Diego you can almost touch it. Breakfast was not a available at the time we needed it which was kind of a bummer. Weekend travelers need to eat too. Otherwise it was great.
- 2/5
outdated noisy from outside. near rail lines. airport did not clean our rooms. replenish coffee supplies. super late checkin i WILL NEVER stay in a Hampton Inn again i may also NEVER use expedia again. i’m sure no one will ever read this, act on it or get in touch with me .
- 3/5
The hvac system whistled as it started and ended. The shower faucet ran. This made the stay less than good.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Trains quiet at night. Close to cruise port and walkway along the waterfront and Little Italy. Front desk very helpful with directions and accessing public transportation. A in room safe would have been handy. Thank you!
- 3/5
Parking rates are ridiculous for guests staying there
- 1/5
Parking was a disaster. Could not get my digital key to open the garage or get myself on the elevator. The elevator would not pick us up attempted the stairs could not get onto any floors called the front desk no one answered. Ended up running down into the garage 1 catching the elevator and riding it until it finally allowed us to stop on our floor. Horrible experience.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean, pool area was nice and clean, breakfast was great…elevators are undergoing maintenance, but with a little patience, that wasn’t an issue!
- 4/5
Other than that, for one night was a very nice stay!
- 4/5
Nice and close to waterfront attractions.
- 5/5
Staff friendly & helpful. Market had everything we needed for evening snacks.
- 5/5
Everything good
- 5/5
Breakfast is very good and good service
- 5/5
I would have liked to have glasses
- 4/5
In general, the Hampton Inn San Diego - Downtown was good. Ideal location, clean, nice breakfast buffet, and friendly staff. On the other side of the ledger, the fitness room is tiny and short on equipment variety, and one elevator was unavailable due to servicing.
- 5/5
Loved our stay ♥️
- 3/5
The location is good, close to the marina and Little Italy. There are few amenities but the room was clean and comfortable. It you’re a light sleeper this is not for you, the main street in front is very loud and the back side sits right on the train tracks. The staff was hit or miss, friendly at check-in, but no staff at the desk for checkout for 10 minutes and when he arrived he was condescending and not friendly. The staff also made arrangements that they would not follow through one . Breakfast starts late so I wasn’t able to sample that before we had to leave for the airport. Overall, disappointing and would not stay there again.
- 5/5
Very enjoyable stay! The rooms were very clean. I would stay here again
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Location was amazing and the breakfast was great. We would definitely stay there again and we did right before we flew back home!
- 5/5
Wonderful experience, safe , private and self parking, fresh food , clean place and wonderful smiling and supportive staff
- 1/5
We were here for 3 nights, never had housekeeping, asked for fresh towels, never received them. Bathroom not properly stocked, had to ask for TP. Train directly behind the hotel, felt like we were sleeping on the tracks. Would not stay here again.
- 4/5
Great location, needs some remodeling
- 3/5
Con: the reason I will not stay here again is it is incredibly noisy 24 hours a day. The train runs continuously and is next door, both the fire and police department are next door. Sirens are constant. Then there is horns blowing. I stay in NYC often and this place surpasses the noise level easily. Need thicker windows.
- 5/5
Very nice stay. Pull out couch was perfect bed for our 3 year old grandson. Great location.
- 5/5
Fantastic
- 5/5
The location of the hotel is superb! Walking distance to the water front!
- 5/5
The property was very clean and the staff was helpful. For sure would stay there again. Only down fall was the elevators but looked like they were working on them.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic. Would come again and stay
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Good stay in downtown San Diego with walking distance to many attractions. Friendly helpful staff. Terrific hot breakfast with lots of choices. Only draw backs were the loud train right behind hotel that ran all night and the $40 a day parking fee.
- 5/5
This hotel is a great option for an affordable short stay. Location is great, opposite the water, and has a kids park opposite, close to restaurants and train. Breakfast was fine, waffles, eggs, toast, yogurt, cereals and some fruit options, coffee available throughout the day. My son loved the pool, was always a great way to end the day. And staff were super helpful and friendly. We would stay again.
- 5/5
Nice place. Convenient to the Port
- 5/5
Only downfall is parking not included so you have to pay is $40
- 3/5
The toilet paper was stayed / dirty. The shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were not stocked. Towels were not stocked in the pool area
- 2/5
Parking very expensive. Staff okay, but not very helpful. Room okay and clean, lobby and elevator area needs cleaning and work. Overall okay, but I wouldn’t go back.
- 3/5
Needs updating and elevators were inconvenient.
- 4/5
Good
- 2/5
Noisy!!!! All we heard all night was the train crossing bells. Non stop. Door on room wouldn’t close unless we lifted very hard on door handle. Would not recommend. Only good thing was the view.
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
I had a room with a double bed. One of the beds had a stain on the sheet so I used the other bed. The room was cleaned during my stay but the sheet was not replaced.
- 4/5
Clean room, nice friendly and informative staff, good location. Wish parking was free
- 2/5
The property sits against railroad tracks. We were in a room not directly facing the tracks, but every 5-10 minutes throughout the night, a train would come by. It made it difficult to sleep. Parking was limited and tight in a mid-size SUV. Breakfast setup is congested and difficult to maneuver. That aside, staff was fantastic and courteous.
- 4/5
Clean and spacious room. Had to chase up coffee for the machine on both days of stay and no shower gel 1st night. Other than that a nice hotel, half decent breakfast selection though it does get busy and chaotic.
- 5/5
Greta hotel, near little Italy with great restaurants! Charging extra for parking is ridiculous however
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good free breakfast. Walking distance to museums and to Little Italy.
- 4/5
However, my experience with service could have been better. I arrived late for check-in, and the staff member assisting me did not have the most welcoming attitude. More importantly, I was given incorrect information about the breakfast hours. As a result, I missed breakfast the following morning. I brought this to the hotel’s attention, but unfortunately, no effort was made to acknowledge or compensate for the inconvenience. Overall, a solid stay in terms of location and comfort, but service and communication could use improvement.
- 5/5
Gtrea
- 5/5
Parking was a little rough but great location
- 3/5
Room was cool but i though hamptin belonged to hilton but ny rewards werent credited bc ohhh i brokered them from expedia. Gotchya
- 4/5
Great stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown before our whale watching trip! The location couldn’t have been better — right across from the waterfront and a beautiful park, which made it perfect for walking around and enjoying the views. If it had a hot tub with the rooftop pool it would’ve been absolutely perfect, but overall it was a really comfortable and convenient stay.
- 5/5
Great location to walk around little Italy and only a few minutes from the airport. Staff are very professional and friendly.
- 5/5
It was amazing!!!
- 5/5
Staff Marcus was great. Breakfast was decent for hotel.
- 5/5
The room was clean. I was on the street side so a little noisy, but the ocean view made up for that difference. The train is right behind the building so easy to get around town without having to drive and find parking. Staff was friendly. The breakfast was typical.
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
Great location and staff was friendly
- 5/5
Good room, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast for a hotel. Great overall value!
- 3/5
Had a hard time finding parking, it's under renovation and had construction vehicles taking some spots. And there was limited others and mainly for small cars. The breakfast wasn't that good. The rooms were good though. Good location to the bay area but the train goes by frequently, if your a light sleeper...
- 3/5
Hotel run down, some areas under construction. Rooms appear old and run down. Very small fitness center. Great breakfast though!
- 4/5
I didnt even know that they had an airport shuttle
- 3/5
Property serves the purpose. Train is a stones throw away and VERY LOUD at 3am! Bring earplugs. Older property, clean enough. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious enough.
- 5/5
They are doing major work on the elevator other than that everything was great
- 1/5
Very bad hotel
- 2/5
They gave me a different room we paid for a sofa bed,and we didn’t get one, I called the front desk and they didn’t believe we didn’t have one, they sent security to check the room, they moved us to a 2 queen bed which was fine, one light didn’t work and kept turning on all night, we had to get up to turn it of 5 times, place was clean, parking is very tight but is a garage so your car will be safe, food is ok, usual hotel menu.
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
We absolutely love this location, this is our second time staying at this location. The only caution I think is important for those new to coming to this location ave may have a vehicle, the parking is not great. You are not guaranteed a space and it’s extremely tight. Other than that, we will definitely come back again.
- 5/5
Clean room, great location, friendly staff, great breakfast selection from oatmeal, waffles, eggs, potatoes, sausage, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, breads, and was perfect for bringing my fur baby. Even given a doggie biscuit
- 4/5
Great staff, excellent location, generous breakfast spread, brand new bathroom and bedroom in my room, it’s obvious they take pride on the inside of the building. View outside my window not so great - although it’s not their property, sad this is the image people see of beautiful San Diego. Also very close to trains/tracks and can hear that all night.
- 5/5
Good service and clean rooms
- 5/5
Decent spot, close to most attractions, only did the 1 night but would definetly stay again if i return to San Diego
- 2/5
Location is not the greatest . Boat horns and airplanes taking off all time.
- 5/5
No airport shuttle
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Great stay
- 3/5
Clean room
- 2/5
Hotel is under renovation so no gym, limited elevators, construction apparent everywhere. Pros - good location
- 4/5
The property is located in a very convenient area. You can walk to little Italy and to the tall ships. The room was clean especially the bathroom. Using the elevators at peak times was almost impossible as they were doing maintenance on one. My husband was not happy that the coffee ran out at breakfast. But the staff were nice and professional. All in all a good place to stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was quiet and staff friendly. consist text to make sure everything okay.
- 4/5
Loved the location in relation to the Inner Harbor. Early March 2026 the Hotel is under construction, so pool was unavailable, construction was active so some areas were were dirty, and not all elevators were active. Noisy location due to train nearby.
- 4/5
The pool was not in use due to construction. The location was great to walk to a lot of activities, however, the light rail and Amtrak noise was extremely loud in the room. The breakfast was good but I wished there were two types of meats to accommodate most needs or wants and the breakfast area was nice! The hotel took security seriously and had the front doors locked during off hours. Biggest complaint is the noise from the train tracks right behind the hotel.
- 5/5
Really helpful and friendly staff. One of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at, despite being in the middle of a renovation. Good breakfast buffet. Close to the MTS blue and green lines, and to the 992 bus to the airport.
- 5/5
Welcoming, friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet with waffles, fruit compote, whipped cream and more. Short walk (2 blocks) from 992 bus stop to hotel.
- 3/5
It has a good location. The breakfast included was just OK. The room is cleaned every other day, so you'll need to ask for new towels and sheets and even more toilet paper if you run out.
- 3/5
Under construction. Lobby, hallways, elevators all cluttered and dirty
- 3/5
Amenities. The pool wasn't available for use.
- 4/5
Room View/-1000 pts ( sucked Big time ) Staff/fantastic Lotta bums around Pool and patio was closed for maintenance/ work yet no work done the whole time for my stay. Overall, nice place, clean room, great continental breakfast, walking distance to little Italy and local attractions.
- 4/5
Room was clean and tidy. Not aware until arrival that renovations were underway. Never told that the pool was unavailable, had to use pool at another hotel.
- 4/5
Room and staff were good, however the ongoing renovations did make it a little less comfortable than a normal Hamptons hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was being renovated and the parking was very tight in the hotel lot. The property manager was unreasonable about what happened on the property yet we received restaurant menus slipped under our hotel room door. Where was the security? How did someone from a local restaurant get access to guest hallways?
- 3/5
However, not impressed with the hotel at all. This time or the last time I was there. Walls are thin. Last visit I could hear my neighbors getting it on. This visit, my door shut, but not at the top. The room was clean for a hotel room, but still not impressed. Location is what made me book here this second time. Staff was also very nice.
- 4/5
Nice clean room.
- 4/5
The room was clean and nice comfortable bed. Great amenities like free coffee and bathroom amenities. The main complaint we have is the very slow check in due to a system shutdown on their online and app check in. It really inconvenienced us since we came from a long road trip and it prevented us from a fast check in.
- 1/5
Could not check in .
- 1/5
Staff support was lacking. They weren't wearing name tags or uniforms at the feont desk to suggest they even worked there. And when asked for recommendations for a restaurant, they had no helpful suggestions. All night we could hear the public transit trains as they were close by. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because we were excited about the pool and laundry facility. Both pool and laundry were closed for rennovation. Further parking garage was over crowded with construction worker vehicles. We were blocked in multiple times and our car was hit on the last day by one of the construction vehicles. Room was at least clean.
- 1/5
We actually were not able to check in due to a worldwide issue with Hilton’s computer system. They should we could get a refund - how do we go about doing that?
- 2/5
Sadly we did not have a good stay here which is a shame because I’ve stayed at May Hampton inns over the years and they have all been fine. Our room was located in the very back of the hotel nearest the train tracks (which we didn’t know existed right alongside the hotel). All night long we heard the loud BEEP BEEP BEEP of the crossing arms going up and down. There was a lot of construction being done on the hotel so the hammering just below us started up before 9am. Our room had new carpet which is nice but we were breathing the chemical fumes all night. Due to the construction, water was shut off in our room while my husband was in the bathroom with soapy hands. We actually decided to go home a day early because we didn’t want to stay another night and the hotel would not refund our second night. Beware this is not a good time to visit with the construction going on. And if you cannot sleep through loud noises, this is not the hotel for you.
- 4/5
The hotel was fine. Great breakfast. Unfortunately the
- 4/5
It was good
- 3/5
The room was fine and the staff was helpful and friendly. There are 4 train tracks behind the hotel with trains operating day and night. Hotel needs to sound proof the property. Additionally there was significant renovation happening at the property. I was unaware of this and found the experience very disappointing for a Hampton Inn.
- 5/5
Good place to stay at, it has good amenities, excelent staff (specially Margarita from the breakfast area), good location, clean room
- 4/5
Friendly and helpful front desk staff. They stored our luggage for us since our flight got in early. Area around the hotel was safe to walk even at night. Room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. It’s about an easy 2 block walk to the cruise ship pier. It is being renovated currently, but did not affect us at all. No noise or debris. We enjoyed our stay.
- 1/5
No water at check in. No hot water the next morning. And no warning about issues from staff. Worst experience ever at a Hilton property.
- 4/5
The front desk was courteous. The breakfast was good. Coffee tasted a bit odd though.
- 4/5
Friendly staff and the room met our needs nicely. Breakfast was good, there was some train related noise but we still slept
- 1/5
Hotel was under a renovation, everything was dirty. The hotel should have been closed! That was unacceptable.
- 4/5
Need a shuttle for close runs
- 3/5
The rooms and everything where fairly nice and freshly renovated, the hotel was under construction still which was okay. But the biggest down fall was the street rooms we had where very very loud because of the train crossing would ding every 10mnts and the train would honk a very loud horn
- 2/5
We arrived to a hotel that was under construction and looked abandoned and neglected inside due to all the work going on! At night we could hear every noise and alarm from the next door room as well as all the outside noises from the train, planes, fire engines right next door, and boats in the bay. Definitely not an ideal stay, but staff was very nice. Continental breakfast was also boxes of cereal and make it yourself waffles.
- 4/5
The construction in the room next to us was kind of loud, also when the cieling was leaking and left the floor soaking wet it was annoying. Luckily the hotel was in a great location, so when we had to evacuate we had plenty of options where to go.
- 5/5
Our room was comfortable, quiet and a very convenient locatio. The breakfast as quite tasty.
- 4/5
Convenient location, pleasant staff
- 3/5
The hotel is tired and undergoing renovations. The light and heavy rail tracks are directly behind the hotel, with old windows that aren't great at blocking train noise. Staff is helpful and working well with the facility they work in.
- 1/5
The rooms and the place was completely different than the pictures, very disappointing. It is going through renovations but they did not disclose this until I was already in the hotel. Elevators have just the foam and have graffiti all over, not what I expected for what I payed
- 3/5
Room was okay. Staff was welcoming. Parking being $40, is ridiculous.
- 4/5
Room was very nice.Bed was compfy. But..I did not know that the hotel was practically sitting on the railroad tracks.
- 5/5
Great service
- 4/5
Room was great, staff very friendly. Breakfast was good, blueberry scones amazing. Garage was under construction and very croweded with cars. Hard to move around.
- 4/5
The staff and room was really nice.
- 4/5
Very nice staff. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
Staff was great and room was good
- 5/5
Spotless room. Loved the view and area.
- 5/5
When our room became ready, Aurora let us check in early, which made our first day in San Diego so much easier. She truly gave us a wonderful first impression of the hotel. The room itself was very spacious, bright, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was also great — the classic Hampton breakfast, exactly what you’d expect and enjoy. We will definitely come back and stay here again. Highly recommended!
- 1/5
I was traveling with my disabled sister and had reserved a room with an accessible shower because she is basically immobile. Upon arrival, I was told that the room I had reserved was no longer available because the people who had stayed in it the night before had extended their stay one more night. The hotel policy is that people who are already in a room have priority over those who have booked it. Consequently, there were no other accessible rooms available for three people so we stayed in one without an accessible shower. This is an unacceptable policy.
- 5/5
Great lacation
- 5/5
Staff and was Breakfast was great.
- 5/5
Great location, clean room, friendly & helpful staff with a fair price!
- 5/5
Room was clean, check in staff was friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Yes
- 3/5
This hotel needs to be updated. The rooms are ok and clean but the bedding comforter came apart. The refrigerator had food from the previous people. Complimentary snacks were nice. The elevator needs to be fixed. Its under construction and while the sign said they're "working on it" given the graffiti on the foam board its been like that a long time. You can hear airplanes rev their engines and trains through the windows. The staff was very friendly.
- 2/5
The train all day and night. Also construction I was on a business call and the banging was awful on the walls.
- 3/5
Construction noise in hotel
- 3/5
The hotel is next to 6 sets of train tracks and a road train track crossing with all of its bells and whistles. Literally all hours of the day trains go by the hotel. We could hear the trains and the bells from the crossing all the time in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
Yes. Very clean
- 3/5
The front desk staff were nice and professional. Some floors are remodeled and we were in remodeled rooms which were nice and clean but others we know we’re staying on an unrenovated floor and those rooms were pretty bad. The biggest issues with this hotel are: 1) there is no disclaimer that this hotel is an active construction zone. Hammering and drilling all day, even on Sunday, and three of the four days we were there, the water was turned off between 2pm-5pm! 2) the hotel is close to the airport and right next to the train and light rail. The crossbars and alarms for the train tracks would ding every 10 minutes starting at 4am, the train came through on a regular basis blowing the horn and the planes start taking off right over the hotel at 6am. The front desk offered us noise machines for the room because there is nothing that can be done with this. Overall location is great, but I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous and helpful
- 4/5
Great but when we were there, there was only one working elevator which was very slow.
- 3/5
This is an older property that is in the process of being remodeled, but as a result the property often has only one elevator operating. Also, the property is located close to a train and trolley station, so there is always a lot of noise.
- 4/5
As mentioned, the Hampton inn is always a great place to stay. The room I got was nice, but I did not get my King size bed. Even though, we were close to the coaster, it was still ok.
- 2/5
Parking garage is a scam. Clearly has been under construction for a very very long time. Not well taken care of. Couldn’t find PAID parking for 30 minutes. Representative said “first come first serve parking” but m’am. I paidd for a spot. Why do I have to wait for paid parking spot. Still awaiting for a refund on $60 2-night parking.
- 4/5
Clean room. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Yes
- 4/5
Quick stay so was affordable and good.
- 2/5
The outside of the hotel was very rundown looking. The water wasn’t working at check in and the room did not lock. The toilet ran continuously after the water was turned back on unless you jiggled the handle. Also our view out our window was a brick wall 5 feet away. Breakfast was fine and the carpet looked recently updated. If visiting San Diego again I would find a different hotel.
- 4/5
Breakfast was above average for a free breakfast. A lot of variety! I am happy with this stay.
- 5/5
The price of the parking is excessively pricey. $40 Dlls.
- 3/5
While staff were polite and apologetic, the situation disrupted our entire day, especially since we were preparing to leave the following day. We were offered a room change, but this should never happen in the first place, particularly at a hotel of this standard. Cleanliness and basic hygiene are non-negotiable, and this experience fell short. I hope management takes steps to prevent future guests from dealing with similar issues.
- 4/5
Breakfast was busy and girls did not keep up. Lack of dining area. Son was placed on train side and did not get a good sleep. Staff was excellent.
- 4/5
The room was a little loud, we were on the second floor, facing the trolley. I’ve stayed in worse, though. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great, and the location can’t be beat!
- 4/5
Staff was excellent, good/ fair room prices. Liked the breakfast, room was clean and spacious. Great location across from park, about a 5 minute walk to Little Italy. What you should know, $40 parking per night, no early check in, 4pm which is the latest I have seen, fridge has no temperature control knob, no microwave, my room faced a vacant lot that was not the hotel's, it was an eyesore, piles of trash, broken concrete, dead brush etc. still I would return and recommend this hotel. The pluses outweighed over anything negative.
- 4/5
Very good customer service. Room was clean and comfy. We had quiet room but my son had a room and the train ran all night and he did not get a good sleep.
- 4/5
Huge room with 2 bathrooms. Clean.
- 4/5
Did not give 5 stars only due to being under remodeling so cumbersome. Otherwise, great location. a little noisy with Train tracks on back side but near Waterfront and Little Italy night life and restaurants. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
everything
- 4/5
The staff and willingness to make us comfortable was outstanding!! Getting around the location was a little tough… Only one elevator working during the day because of renovations, and there was not a stairway to avoid that elevator quandary that would not take you directly to the lobby without going outside first made it inconvenient all the way around… If you have time to wait, don’t hesitate going here for the next month or so!
- 4/5
- Parking lot nearly full due to construction - Only 2 of 3 elevators working - Water leaks throughout the hotel from rain, including in my parents' room and the breakfast restaurant - Breakfast area undersized for the number of guests - arrive before 7:30am or expect long waits and limited food Guests should be aware of these ongoing issues before booking.
- 4/5
Clean rooms.
- 5/5
very helpful staff
- 5/5
all is good except breafast, very limited Menu and limited buffet (eggs, potato, and susage) fruit only Apple and Banana, which there was also some other kinds of fresh and seasonal fruits
- 2/5
The location is great. Rooms are very basic and noisy without proper noise insulation. Very difficult to sleep due to inside and outside noise. Breakfast is also very simple. Elevator is very slow and too much wait to get in.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, pleasant stay
- 2/5
Overall, I am glad that my family and I were safe and warm. However, this stay was equipped with unexpected fees, unwarranted racism, a terribly prepared breakfast, very tight parking spaces and a missing microwave. We will NOT be staying there again.
- 2/5
I was there the same time last year and the same construction is going a year later. The carpets need cleaned. The rooms don’t get cleaned. You have to ask for stuff all the time. I was there for 8 days last year and only had my room cleaned 1x. This year I was there for 5 days and only got cleaned 1x. I’m sorry that is unacceptable.
- 2/5
Construction and constant pounding. We were put in a room right next to the train tracks and couldn't sleep all night. Wasnt told there would be a $90 hold for incidentals. I would have been fine if they informed me. Staff didnt welcome us. They were too busy talking. Ive never had a bad experience with Hilton.
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and close to everything
- 4/5
Great location, breakfast was awesome, only complaint is the railway right behind the building - bring earplugs.
- 5/5
Quick check-in
- 5/5
Everything was great. Amazing service and an affordable price.
- 1/5
Room service every other day. Inadequate parking. Had to walk to other locations to park
- 3/5
The location is good. Though it is next to train rails which make so loud noises, plus airplanes, plus ongoing construction. It was a lot of noises and only one elevator working.
- 2/5
Room right next to railroad tracks😒

Yes
- 5/5
Alexia from the front desk has been very helpful when I checked in and also making sure my day was enjoyable throughout the weekend. Thank you again, Hampton inn.
- 5/5
The place was perfect for us. Nice room, free breakfast, walking distance to the cruise terminal.
- 3/5
Ice machine on 4th floor broken had to go to 2nd floor NO MICROWAVE in room SUCKS!!!
- 4/5
Need better pillows
- 5/5
Clean room. Good view. Check in and out was smooth
- 4/5
comfortable and easy to stay
- 5/5
clean room, lobby check in was quick
- 3/5
Breakfast was not ready by 6. It was not even ready by 620 so we left to hit the road. Parking is in the garage but it’s 40 dollars. Walking distance to Italy and the harbor.
- 4/5
I bookGreat service provided by front desk staff both upon checking in and checking out.
- 4/5
Nice and convenient place to stay!
- 5/5
Spacious room in a good location
- 4/5
Room was large with a sofa. Recommend the staff cgange a/c unit to allow constant fan. The fan sound would provide white noise to cover the occasional sound from trains and aircraft
- 4/5
Walking distance to the harbor and little Italy literally
- 4/5
The parking situation was trash, and the AC unit was so load every time it started up it would wake me up….night front desk (Marquis) was real cool AF
- 3/5
Room was nice. Shower curtain rod was broken on both ends and the curtain would not stay closed. The bed was rock hard and the pillows were terrible. Other than that the employees were very nice and accommodating.
- 4/5
Room was good
- 4/5
The room was great, the bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
clean room
- 2/5
Sheets were dirty was the biggest problem. Why do you have to charge your customers $40 for overnight parking ridiculous?
- 3/5
Room was in good condition but there was an odor that was present thought out the room
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff ok, amenities ok, parking ok
- 4/5
Clean hotel with confusing layout. Working on updating the elevators but still using them. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Hotel is new and room was very clean.
- 3/5
Average hotel, staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast really shouldn’t be just plastic everything, from plates to cutlery.
- 4/5
Breakfast and staff were great. A bit disappointing that the pool wasn’t available and the air conditioning unit in room was so loud.
- 5/5
Extremely convenient location for walking around San Diego. Especially close to Little Italy and Downtown areas. Less than a 5 min walk to the trolley station where you can reach most anywhere in San Diego.
- 2/5
Very dated so many issues is not worth visiting. Good location but hasn’t been updated in many decades
- 5/5
Amazing staff! Alexia was so nice.
- 3/5
My room for my stay was very comfortable and clean, very roomy and had a fairly nice view. The area around the hotel was a bit noisy, you could hear commotion in the streets and the train near by. There is a fire station right at the corner that I assume could be heard as well. When I arrived I was informed their parking garage was full and was given an alternative parking option that would be $30 for the night (the property charges $40). Unfortunately what wasn’t told to me is that there was no in-and-out of the other parking garage and if you park before midnight you’ll be charged the overnight rate and the rate from when you entered. Ended up paying $45.
- 5/5
Room was spotless and staff very friendly.
- 3/5
Elevator problems
- 4/5
Everything went great. Just under construction
- 5/5
Aurora was excellent at the front desk. Very sweet and helpful. Ty.
- 1/5
Parking fee was too high ($40 a night) especially during the hotel renovation, also water was leaking from the ceiling in the parking garage, it was scarey. Water fell on my hair. Who knows where that water was from. On our first day only one elevator was working and it would literally take like 10 mins to come back down. Fire alarms went off on the first night. Light flickering in the bathroom. Requested towels in the am and they never showed up I had to call back again when we arrived back at the hotel. Not going to stay here anymore.
- 4/5
Great check-in, room very clean and bed was comfortable. Noisy train behind hotel
- 5/5
Nicely updated rooms. Friendly staff.
- 2/5
Incorrect room type was given and the front desk staff didn't want to help and told me to contact expedia to fix it. Expedia agent called and fixed it for me right away and i checked out the next day to what was supposed to be a 2 night stay. Wouldnt stay here again or at any hampton inn going forward as it was a very unpleasant and uncomfortable first impression of the property.
- 3/5
looks like they're under renovation, the room we stayed at was clean obly problem was the ac, it gets loud at night, and complimentary breakfast is good, I wish they have more varieties atleast not the same menu in two days, we liked the hotel because it was walking distance to the waterfront, close to lots of tourist spots sspots
- 5/5
The location was perfect and the hotel was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was so good and there was plenty. We would most certainly stay here again! Perfect for going to the Midway and rolling our suitcases to the cruise park. So close!
- 5/5
Good location, reasonable price, and nice room.
- 4/5
Great stay, I recommend it
- 5/5
Everything was great except for there was only one elevator available due to the other one bring repaired
- 5/5
Great location close to cruise terminal and nightlife. Clean, quiet, good breakfast spread
- 4/5
clean room, location, good breakfast, nice staff
- 5/5
Clean room, nice staff and the snacks in the room were a great touch.
- 4/5
Clean spacious room. Great location
- 3/5
The elevator was broken.
- 3/5
The room was in good condition and the staff was lovely. But the hotel is under construction
- 5/5
Everything
- 3/5
Rennovating so be prepared for noise.
- 2/5
Once again, there was only 1 elevator for the entire hotel. This happened to me a few years ago when I visited. Having to use to stairs every time gets old and nobody wants to wait in line for an elevator that comes around every 10 minutes.
- 5/5
Our third stay and always excellent. Room ultra clean and comfortable, staff always great. Walking distance to cruise ship dock. Buffet breakfast good with eggs and sausage. Nice pool. Room had frigid but no microwave, however, there is a microwave in the breakfast area available for use. Definitely recommend.
- 3/5
Im handicapped and the elevators werw down so it was very hard to climb stairs
- 2/5
toilet didn’t work, trash cans were too small, elevators didn’t work and there was only one and it was packed all the time. I had to take the stairs with my friends that could barely walk, breakfast was bad and even 30 min before it ended they were out of a lot of things and the food was also cold. Really slow service i had to wait in line just to buy a drink for like 10 min, parking garage is way too small and there aren’t enough spots. Staff was really nice though.
- 5/5
Friendly staff in great location and free breakfast. One downside is that only one lift is working and that leads to queues as the stairs are not hugely convenient. The lifts were the same a year ago - they really need fixing.
- 4/5
Parking space was sufficient
- 3/5
Broken elevators. The entire building had to share one elevator, including housekeeping
- 4/5
friendly and helpful staff. water, coffee, hot tea available all day (but not over night). room service knocks and waits a reasonable amount of time (they dont just barge in)
- 5/5
Clean, close to public transit, a park, and harbor front, super restaurants walking distance, pleasant staff, great free breakfast
- 5/5
Great location, super friendly staff, and impressive breakfast selection
- 4/5
Clean room, front desk staff were great, fantastic location. Hotel is older, only 1 elevator working.

There was only one operating elevator
- 4/5
Stayed for four days. Nice room overall and close to wharf area attractions downtown. Breakfast was average. Each morning the oatmeal was cold - not even hot.
- 5/5
Plenty of healthy options for breakfast. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff was accommodating and very friendly.
- 5/5
Great place to stay before a cruise.
- 5/5
Ita was quit nice and pwrfect for our anniversary
- 5/5
Excellent property at a great location in San Diego
- 4/5
I loved the location, local area and proximity to the trolley station. The hotel is currently upgrading the elevators and this was the only negative.
- 2/5
Out of 3 Elevators but only 2 working. Of the only 2 elevators working, one of the elevators was running very slow and seemed unsafe as it would not close making us assume it was not working. No stairwells to easily walk up to lobby from garage. Had to literally walk around hotel to get into lobby. Very inconvenient for anyone and including cleaning service who also had to use elevators.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Across the hotel there is a playground for kids which is a bonus. Restaurants are walking distance also. Weather in mid October was nice !!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Walking distance from San Diego Port
- 5/5
Elevators are slow & limited
- 4/5
Only complaint was that only one of the three elevators were working. Have stayed here every time we cruise and feel hotel could use some updating. Would like to see more seating at the front desk area while either waiting to check in or waiting for cab arrival. Otherwise the convenience to cruise ship pier and airport is important to us.
- 5/5
This isn’t a complaint, but know that the hotel is right next to city transit on the train tracks. The crossing arms for the road next to the hotel ding every 5-15 minutes. The hotel doesn’t have control over this, obviously. But if you’re sensitive to that, maybe look for a different hotel.
- 1/5
Desk chair in room is filthy. Bedside lamp is burned out. Carpets are dirty. One elevator is out of service and the other is hit and miss. Train noise outside is awful. Have stayed here several times in the past and each time the place gets worse than the last. I will never stay here again. Talked to the manager about the situation and he told me the entire hotel is being renovated in the next few months. Guess that’s why they are charging about one hundred dollars more per night next year
- 5/5
Front Desk staff was great. They addressed a problem of two separate one day reservations into a two day stay. So I didn't need to change rooms.... great job.
- 4/5
The AC was efficient but noisy. Hotel position was excellent, close to the waterfront. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
The room was nice, staff was very friendly and dis well during a very busy check in. There was a school group (cross countey runners) there which was fine, just made the smaller breakfast area crowded. They need a better flow in this area.

- 4/5
Upon arrival, the deak clerk was friendly and accommodating. She shared lots of info about hotel stay and amenities. The room was clean, stocked and temperature was comfortable. One bed was more comfortable than the other. The hot breakfast was good and plentiful. The kids loved the waffles. The pool temperature was comfortable and didn't sting the kids' eyes. Loved the fact we were walking distance to the harbor and a playground. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because of the renovation on one of the elevators and one of the beds was too firm.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Breakfast area has very less seating space, rest all is perfect
- 3/5
Elevator not working properly. Gym open at 6am
- 4/5
Very friendly and hard working staff. The elevator wasn’t working properly but the service was immaculate.
- 3/5
Overall the stay was adequate but the elevators were super slow and scary
- 5/5
Great stay, elevator issues but understandable
- 5/5
It would’ve been nice if the elevators were 100% working.
- 2/5
The elevators were under repair and there was an additional $40 daily charge for parking.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
The property was very well located. Decent breakfast and room. The bathroom felt a little dated - not having a proper covered shower area resulting in a wet bathroom all over.
- 3/5
Train tracks right behind hotel.
- 1/5
Would not stay here again, elevators didn’t work at all. Metro noises throughout the night and day. Parking spots are limited.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and polite. The area is beautiful to walk around. My only complaint would be the noisy air conditioner and the elevators that were in repair.
- 3/5
Also housekeeping wanted to get in my room at 8:30 a.m. when checkout was supposedly at 11:00.
- 4/5
Only had 1 elevator operable during out stay, which ended up being an inconvenience.
- 3/5

- 4/5
Great location within walking distance of Little Italy, the harbor and ferry to Coronado Island and Gaslamp Quarter. Easy access to trolley and freeway to our sporting events and family visits.
- 5/5
Front desk staff were great and very helpful getting us a room early
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay but the elevator refurbishment was a little inconvenient
- 5/5
A good place to stay. Close to some very nice locations
- 2/5
The hotel itself is very dated and the elevators had a mind of their own and didn’t work properly. The staff were pleasant enough and the bed was comfy, however, the best thing going for this hotel is the walkable location.

Dear Hilton Corporate Guest Relations, I am submitting this formal complaint regarding my recent stay at the Hampton Inn San Diego. The experience was extremely disappointing and failed to meet the basic standards I expect from Hilton properties. The following issues made my stay unacceptable: • Elevator delays: Guests were subjected to up to 40-minute waits due to only one elevator being in service during a busy weekend. • No stair access: Guests were left with no alternative, as stairwells were not accessible with key cards. The only route to rooms and the parking area was through the overwhelmed elevator system. • Room key malfunctions: My magnetic key card demagnetized on multiple occasions, requiring repeated trips to the front desk for reprogramming. • Stagnant, poor-quality air: Hallways, lobbies, and elevators were uncomfortably stuffy, with stagnant air that made the long waits even more unbearable. • Indifferent staff response: When raising these concerns, staff displayed little concern or urgency, leaving guests feeling dismissed in already uncomfortable and stressful situations. • Misleading “renovation”: Despite being described as remodeled, the property felt outdated and poorly maintained — more like a superficial facelift than a true renovation. Is not into a Hilton standard, I will like a refund.
- 4/5
It was great except the elevators. Great service

- 3/5
Elevators were being worked on and stair access is a little strange where you have to walk through the back offices every time. They were doing their best but just a bit awkward.
- 3/5
No stairs that were convenient to and from the lobby. Only one working elevator which was sketchy. Bed sheets had too much plastic. Also there were a few termites in our room.
- 5/5
Liked the location, the breakfast and staff. Did not like long waits for only one of three elevators that was working. The repair sign was up 6 months ago when I visited.

Housekeeping downright failed in their job to clean our room with ample time notice. Someone asked when we wanted service but then we were told they can’t promise a time. So why did someone ask?!
- 5/5
Marcus at the desk was fantastic!

I liked the area where the pool is, very nice and. It was located in a good area near several restaurants, very clean and the girls were very friendly at check-in

Bed sheets did not smell clean. Nost at night. Hard to get sleep. Elevators were under maintenence and it took exaggeratedly long to get anywhere in the hotel. The location is perfect for walking to attractions.

Really hot in parking lot

Horrible place to stay, parking sucks and their floor carpet opens up its like a rug that they just put it together. Not staying here again.
- 4/5
This is a place you stay for location for sure!!
- 3/5
I was very dissatisfied that when I booked the property it advertised free shuttle to airport but it did not so I was forced to take a taxi at a cost of $20 plus tip.
- 5/5
The hotel is very close to the bay. Easy walk thru a cute park to the waterfront. Hotel was clean, staff cleaned room every other day but extra towels and coffee available on request. Bed was comfortable.
- 2/5
Hotel was in a great location but 40$ crappy parking per night in a random basement was not it. Also the elevators are in service and not working very well or fast. Hotel is very loud and noisy during the day/night because of the nearby train station and you cannot avoid the sound. Breakfast and baked cookies were good though.
- 4/5
Clean and quiet.
- 3/5
Connecting to the WiFi never worked since the Captive Portal never showed up. Great central location though, and a good price given the location.
- 3/5
Parking garage doesn’t fit normal size cars and only 1 elevator out of 3 working
- 3/5
The staff that cleaned the rooms were good. The entire hotel needs a renovation.
- 5/5
Stay was fine except for the A/C unit. While you would think the wall unit controlled the temperature, when we entered the room it was 65 degrees and A/C was chilling the room into a meat locker. I increased the temperature to 70 using the wall thermostat and by 2 AM the room was 83 degrees. Not sure why, but using the controls in the unit below the window was what really worked.

Loved being close to trolley station. It made going to and from Petco Park a breeze. We were aware the elevators were going to be under maintenance but didn't know only 1 elevator would be available so be prepared on your day of check out. Parking garage and the spaces were more compact than other garages in area but loved being able to park in a secure garage.
- 3/5
We were there 3 yrs ago and the elevators were old and SLOW. This time they had a full house for the 3 days we were there and finally working on the elevators which actually shut down 1 of 2 elevators, every guest was disgruntled as wait time for elevators were in the 10+ minutes for each ride. They do have stairs but the 5th floor is a climb.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 3/5
Staff were great and accommodating. Breakfast is good. Commonly used areas were clean but you could see dust in less common used areas. The biggest problem is noise/siren from trolleys right behind the hotel every 15 mins.
- 4/5
The customer service and room service were great. Decent breakfast. However, the elevator is horrible. We had to wait a while to get down to the garage or our room. There were long lines waiting for the elevator. People were stuck in the garage because people on the 1st floor were piling up, it felt claustrophobic and dangerous. The parking was insane as well, super compact space and hard to park in and out. If you don’t feel comfortable stuck in the garage for more than 15 minutes don’t recommend. Great location and walkable spaces but the elevator and parking needs more support

We spent good time thank you so much

To begin with. The lication basically in front of water was great. The bad thing it's near a train track which i belive it is where the metrolink, amtrak and the san diego trolly's hub is at. I would hear the train go by every 15 minutes which i wasn't able to sleep in.... the elevators were not working properly. 1 maid was a bit rude but the other maid made up for it with her being very friendly and helpful. Upon check in the young lady never told me whic way to go to park my vehicle and how to get into the building or location of elevators. It's ok i can gigure things out

The desk worker went out of his way to make everything perfect. In fact, all parking was used, and he helped us park our car. And ensure our safety when a non occupant was trying to get in the facility.
- 5/5
Elevators were a problem but getting fixed. Otherwise it’s a great place!
- 5/5
Great location, clean, nice staff, we loved our stay here.
- 3/5
I liked how close it was to the Little Italy trolley. However, if your room is facing the street of the rail/trolley you'll hear the trains. We arrived pretty late to check in and there was a lack of parking. Parking is super tight and small but you can't beat $40 for the area. There are a lot of homeless at night and when we checked in at night there was a biker that went into the garage looking through things and probably people's cars. The breakfast is nice and they do provide things that you forget.

The location of this hotel is ideal, right in the heart of downtown San Diego and next to its Little Italy. The hotel is across the street from the Maritime Museum and just blocks from the USS Midway Museum. The County Center / Little Italy trolley stop is directly behind the hotel and that is one stop away from a major train depot where other transit is available (Amtrak, etc), making local trips very easy and accessible. We took the Green Line Trolley to/from Petco Park for a baseball game and to the Gaslamp District. The one downside is trains honking throughout the day/evening but that didn't disturb our sleep at all. I was surprised to learn at check-in that there is a $40 per night parking fee in the hotel garage; maybe I missed the fine print in making the reservation. The room was clean and well appointed, though we had a few ants and no nightlight in the bathroom makes nighttime visits jarring for sleepy eyes. I would definitely stay here again, though will consider parking elsewhere if more affordable options are nearby. And I'll bring my own nightlight!

Our stay was great other than the elevators not working. The property is doing renovations and going up and down with only one elevator that only worked sometimes was quite the inconvenience. However, the hotel is in the perfect location! Walking distance from amazing dining, the beach, ferry to Coronado island, and night life/clubs. I would stay there again.
- 3/5
Would have got a 5 star , but charging $40 per night for parking is not fair, it should have came with you’re stay.
- 3/5
So tell them to put you on the side away from the train tracks.
- 5/5
Cannot fault anything ,would differently stay again thank you
- 5/5
Breakfast was good and would recommend.
- 2/5
They only had one of three elevators working. It made it very difficult to use the elevator unless you wanted to wait 15 minutes. They didn’t have enough parking, even though I got a parking pass when I checked in, I had to park offsite on our second night. When I checked in, there was no mention of the lack of parking. So when I went to get my car, I had to evade the homeless people smoking heroin on my way to the offsite parking structure .
- 2/5
It needs to be updated. We were next to the train and it was very loud all night.
- 4/5
Enjoyed the breakfast. Only 1 elevator working.
- 4/5
Great location, easy access to lots of fun stuff and next to the event we went to for our stay. Only issue is one elevator is still out of order and it takes a VERY long time to catch it due to the number of people leaving at the same time at check out.
- 5/5
This location is not quiet! We were able to sleep but woke up occasionally because of the train. If the breakfast had gluten free and lactose free milk options besides eggs it would have made my wife’s day start off better. Also, the fact that the entire hotel was down to just 1 elevator on a busy weekend was not noted and not ideal. Lines to go down during breakfast and check out were very long. Be careful with parking. The garage feels up quickly and people are rude and double park or block you in by parking behind you.

Excelente hotel

Expedia did not do a good job of informing us of the noise issues for the property. We would have stayed elsewhere. Issues: - Train crossing 24/7. The gates open every 5-10 minutes for each of the 4 trains that are adjacent to the property. - Elevators under remodel - only 1 functional elevator = long waits. - Ants in room / cleanliness - Poor rating here. Not acceptable for a 5th story room. - Limited parking - space does run out. The staff was kind and courteous. Would not stay here again. Did not sleep well.
- 3/5
No housekeeping was provided over a 5-night stay. Only one of their three elevators was working. Otherwise, this hotel is in a prime location close to the marina and Little Italy. Underground parking was convenient and comparably priced to other parking in the area.
- 4/5
Nicely located in stop for Comicon shuttle. Friendly staff.
- 1/5
This is the worst hotel I have ever come across. They cheat people and charge more than it is actually worth.
- 4/5
4 stars only because of not really clean bathroom - stains around sink and on the shelves. Everything else was good. Very convenient location. Will be back for sure.
- 1/5
The elevator was not working, and the emergency stairs were confusing. There were not enough places to sit during breakfast. Parking was expensive. There were ants in the rooms.
- 4/5
Was kinda iffy on staying here after reading other reviews, but it wasn’t that bad. Staff was amazing. Breakfast was better than I had thought which saved us a lot for being there 4 mornings with a family of 5. The elevators sucked because it took forever to go up or down but we managed and that wouldn’t keep me from not staying here. Fans in the bathrooms would have been nice to have. Other than that we will be using the hotel again if we do another trip to San Diego.

Excellent service.
- 2/5
The free breakfast was sub-par. I know that it was "free" but it's not really, it's baked into the price of your rooms. And compared to many other hotels I've stayed with "free" breakfasts, this one was definitely below average. The beds were springy, loud and uncomfortable. The AC worked in the sense that it cooled down the room, but it had an intermittent rattle sound that woke me up multiple times. Had to live with it thought because San Diego was unusually muggy. That's all my gripes... Other than that, the hotel is cheap and it's in a good location. Easy access to the waterfront, Little Italy, the light rail. Not far from the airport or the Zoo. Took several Ubers to different parts of town and most were under 10 minutes drives. the furthest we went was Ocean Beach, and that was probably 15 minutes or less. Very centrally located. The hotel also did a good job decorating for both Pride and Comicon. Very festive!

Overall good!
- 4/5
It was near the places we wanted to go. Unfortunately, they’re renovating their elevators during our stay. Other than having a hard time going to / from (3rd floor), everything went well.
- 3/5
Negatives: We arrived earlier than expected and our room was not ready. Was told to either get a lesser (view) room now or wait til 4 for our actual room. We waited....and upon check in, was assigned the lesser room anyway. Whatever. Got in the room and it's fine. However, the next morning we discovered ants in the bathroom. We had plans for the whole day which allowed them to mitigate the issue, which I appreciated. So-So: while there were a lot of breakfast items, some things would suddenly swap so it was a little confusing. Dining area cannot accommodate the full hotel so I wish they would consider expanding seating somehow for busy weekends. We arrived in the middle of elevator upgrades so only one of three was working. Not sure how long that maintenance takes but it was an incredible inconvenience during a very busy weekend. Being on the 4th floor, we hiked up the (staff) stairs most of the time so that families and folks with luggage or strollers could use the elevator. Also people across and next to us were in a partying mood so music and activities were loud and ran until 11pm. While overall it averaged to be an acceptable stay, I'm not sure I would come again just for the location.

The place was very safe and clean as well as the employee you are very kind with us

Great place to stay downtown!
- 4/5
I liked the hotel but was disappointed that cleaning the room was not every day
- 2/5
Only one Elevator was working and the lights in the room flickered. Afterwards in the morning the bathroom had a bad smell.
- 3/5
Not enough parking for the check in process. Cars were backed up onto the main street downtown. Only one elevator was working so very long delays getting to and from your room. The front office staff did not smile and were not friendly. The room was great. The breakfast was great. Everything Not enough parking for the check in process. Close to the water and little italy . Not many options for free breakfast and it was very packed during that time. Also only 1 out of 3 elevators working which means you had to wait a while to get up and down. Otherwise pretty decent
- 5/5
Stayed was good , besides elevators are under construction and delay led everyone going up and down but happy and pleased .
- 3/5
Staff was friendly, hotel itself was decent. Rooms were clean. Downside is parking is very limited and had to find parking for both of our nights about 2 blocks away. At the time they only had one working elevator which was an inconvenience but not a deal breaker as we just took the stairs. Luckily we were on the 3rd floor so not too bad.
- 4/5
overall good stay
- 1/5
The property only had one elevator that was operational
- 3/5
Then, once i finally made to my room, there was a bandaide hanging from the ceiling. We called to have it removed, but no one ever came.
- 2/5
Not maintained properly. I had ants in my room and the bed and chair just felt dirty, actually you could see the filth on the chair, side of the bed and the carpet. This place is worth maybe 10% of the over $300 they charge per night. I would not come here again.
- 1/5
Under construction, no elevator, dirty pool, lack of service, smelly room.
- 3/5
The property is working on their elevators which they mention before you book. This results in long waiting times to ride the elevator. We like taking the stairs but the floors aren't clearly marked and stair access isn't clearly marked which makes navigating the property challenging. It is a great (but noisy - train goes right by) location and was clean enough! Staff was friendly too.
- 3/5
Breakfast was short on everything. Elevator was slow and jammed even the stairs walk is inconvenient to get to the breakfast area
