Reviews
The hotel boasts an excellent location with captivating waterfront views. Its modern and immaculate accommodations offer both comfort and style. The staff impressively excel in their professionalism and efficiency. The hotel's pricing is on the higher side, and the cost of parking is notably expensive.

I asked for the harbor view room and paid for extra for the room type. Concierge and guest service were back forth on the room type saying it was water view but than concierge said it is harbor view although I can only see a corner of it. We ended up staying in the same room but didn’t feel like I should pay extra for nothing

Great location. We stayed a few days before our Disney cruise and we were able to walk to the boat from the hotel. Great bar and food options. Staff was incredibly friendly as well. Definitely family friendly as well.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and great service. Pool area bar is not open yet for the season. Restaurants on the lobby floor are a bit pricey but the food was good.
- 3/5
The front desk was amazing. I had dinner at the bar and unfortunately the service was not very good. I travel to San Diego often and this was not the first time service at the bar restaurant was not great.

We booked a Bay View Suite for two, and the view was breathtaking. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a stunning front-row panorama of the harbor. We spent peaceful mornings watching cruise ships gracefully arriving and departing at the port just across the street. The sight of these massive vessels moving through the bay added a dynamic, almost cinematic feel to our stay and made every wake-up special. The suite itself was outstanding, featuring super comfortable beds that ensured restful nights, spotlessly clean rooms, and impeccable maintenance throughout our visit. The housekeeping team delivered perfect service every single day, leaving the space fresh and organized. Check-in and check-out processes were swift, efficient, and handled with genuine friendliness by the staff, setting a positive tone from the moment we arrived. The hotel building is elegant and well-maintained, with a sophisticated atmosphere

Examples: 1. We called ahead to see if we could get connecting rooms because we had a 6 year old in one room. The front desk said that they couldn’t guarantee connecting rooms, but they would try to get close rooms if not connecting. They put our son on the 7th floor and our room on the 14th floor . Not even on the same floor . I am a lawyer and told the employee it was a criminal offense to leave our son in a room by himself. She told me that it ‘was NONE of their concern.’ I was shocked at the response. She told me to come back everyday during our 4 day stay to see if we could get connecting rooms. She wouldn’t even check future days. I had even called the manager, Eva, before check-in and she didn’t care and wouldn’t help. We have traveled to 42 countries, stayed at other intercontinental in varies countries, have their IHG membership card and got no benefits whatsoever or any humane treatment. 2. Check-out was 11am. I asked the front desk for a late check-out at 12pm. They refused to even give me an hour . I ended up doing my work call from the room at 11. The housekeeping never came. I left something in my room so I called the following day. They still hadn’t cleaned the room and could have easily given me the extra hour. Of course, I never got the item back. They never checked for it. They won’t help in any way whatsoever. You are just a dollar sign.

the location is pefect, the food at tbe bar was great and the facility was great The staff is just unproffesional, to be honest I am so tiered of tell the story over and over and over again... there is an overcharge of two days that booking.com and this property keep sending me back to one another, and no one at the hotel was even close to giving some kind of an answer that makes sense. but what really really annoyed me is the fact that after back and forth with one of the managers, I asked to get an email with her answer so I can inform booking.com, she said she cannot... really ridiculse

We booked on a busy weekend. I’ve called and spoke to many representatives regarding checking in early, they can’t guarantee it. When we arrived it was 2:30 and check in is 3:00. They said everyone else is trying to check in early as well and it is a busy weekend due to a big event. I ended up not being able to check in until 3:10 and didn’t get up to my room close to 3:30 (after going over all the formalities etc). I ended up being late for my event that started at 5pm. This is why I did not rate it a 5 star. On top of that, I had requested the late check out as well and they informed me I needed to be a member to get the complimentary late check out. At the time of my booking weeks before, when I was inquiring about the early check in, the reps were saying just make sure you have membership, we will note your request etc so being a member was already established. When I arrived they needed to confirm because it didn’t show on their end, which held me up downstairs when I was already wanting to go up and get dressed for my event. Otherwise, nice hotel. Staff were overwhelmed with the busy weekend and it showed.

Fabulous views, great bar. Room was clean, comfortable. Getting into / out of the hotel requires transferring from one elevator from street or parking garage to 3rd floor lobby, different elevator to rooms. Waits were sometimes long . Bathroom was dimly lit.

We had a nice average overall stay. A few things that hindered a better rating were as follows ; pool was very small and shallow for a large hotel. When we arrived the shower in our room would not turn on. Maintenance came quickly to look at it and was able to turn the knob and get it working . For some reasons the knob was stuck and very hard to turn. Then the following evening after a long day out we were not able to shower as there was no hot water . It was warm to cool only which was not very relaxing after a long day . The shower temperature was fine and had heat the next morning. The TV did not have chrome cast so could not watch Netflix . The front desk agent who answered our phone call regarding parking taxes could not answer and needed to find out and call us back .. it could have possibly been someone in training but having said that the question was simple . “ is self -part at $57 include tax or not and what is the tax % for Sam Diego ?”. Hope this review helps with your improvements

This hotel used to be great, but this time around the bed was unclean. Also, extremely loud noises and music were playing throughout the night. We tried to contact Management, and we never heard back.
- 5/5
Great room overlooking the Midway aircraft carrier. Great location and friendly staff. Clean and well appointed room. If there was 1 downside it was the surprise charge for early check-in, even as an IHG member. Weeks before arriving, I exchanged several emails with the front desk manager, during which I explained we would arrive early and would like to check-in early. She told me she made of an “early check-in request” note on our reservation but not once during our email exchanges was I informed of an early check-in charge. Good customer service requires that you set expectations appropriately. Had we been informed of this charge, we would have expected it and made other arrangements to stay on our cruise ship until later in the day. If the room is available, the goodwill of allowing an early check-in goes a long way with customer loyalty.

The TV didn’t work for a full 2 day, Housekeeping came at bad times after us leaving for hours so they could clean, we would get back to our room still dirty and after we’ve already gotten in bed for the night, that’s finally when housekeeping would knock. We’ve even put in a request for the morning time and still have not had our room clean. The staff severely miscommunicated how the daily charges were and overall the value was just not there.
- 4/5
Staff was nice. Room was nice as well but I could hear other guests from their rooms and banging on doors at 6:45am
- 5/5
The fitness room has the best view toward the bay!
- 4/5
The staff was overall very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful. The only issue was that we didn't realize the room was partial view so even though we originally had an upgrade to a view in our itinerary, the main viewers of a parking lot with a sad looking Christmas tree lot. You would have to go right up to the window to see the water and the ship. I thought that was a little misleading. Also, our room was not cleaned on the last day. We were gone all day and when we got back noone had come to clean or at the very least refresh the beds, give towels and restock coffee bar. It was off-putting. I will still give it for because the staff was still pleasant. We enjoyed Michael's company at the lobby bar as well two nights in a row. Very nice.

Super nice place; will definitely stay again. The Italian restaurant Seleca has a great vibe. The store downstairs is convenient when you want late night cravings. parking was convenient and the view was amazin!
- 4/5
Breakfat at $40/person was too expensive for us. Nice hotel, but the restaurant was overpriced.
- 5/5
Our room was very well maintained, the only issue we had was there was no USB charging port. There is an iphone charging dock for older iPhones
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
Very courteous staff, beautiful and clean accommodations. The location was great, an easy walk to lots of places downtown.
- 3/5
The fee structure is very deceptive. Not particularly this property’s fault but this business of charging resort fees and not listing in the total price when searching for accommodations in my view is deceptive. This stay wound up costing more than $500 a night with all the fees tacked on and at that price point it is a very poor value. Not to mention the cold eggs Benedict at $46 was just the icing on the cake.
- 5/5
Todo perfecto
- 5/5
Front desk staff were efficient, polite and helpful. The room was very clean - spotless and very comfortable. Absolutely loved dining at the in house restaurant, Garibaldi's! They're featuring an amazing new Mediterranean based menu that made for one of the best meals my wife and I have ever enjoyed. We loved our stay!
- 5/5
Fantastic property right on the waterfront, close to everything in a safe, clean area of San Diego. I particularly enjoyed their rooftop breakfast overlooking the port & the staff were very friendly & helpful. They offer a discount /credits per day that can be used towards drinks or meals at the hotel including breakfast. Room was very spacious with the most comfortable bed, and large marble bathroom. Really enjoyed my stay here

Thank you IHG!

The staff was very nice. Our room was amazing ! We got a corner room and it was so spacious !
- 4/5
I love the fact the rooms were clean. And I did love the personal touch of the hotel staff making sure we were OK during our stay that was a nice touch.
- 5/5
From check in to relaxing in the harbor view room and friendly staff at breakfast made the stay very memorable.
- 5/5
The staff were phenomenal! The hotel was spotless. The rooms were beautiful. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!
- 5/5
I loved how there was a starbucks and so many walkable restaurants in the area. I will say parking was very limited since we do have a tall truck but the staff was super understanding and flexible. Absolutely would return.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay! Staff was kind, hotel was clean, and the hotel was within short walking distance to restaurants, Starbucks and Seaport Village!!
- 5/5
Honestly the best hotel stay I’ve ever had
- 4/5
Really nice location facing the San Diego Bay and almost the USS Midway. We really enjoyed our stay there … and oh, great bars/restaurants with decks/rooftops facing the bay/ships/cruise boats!
- 5/5
Stay experience was wonderful. Special shout out to Finley at the Front Desk for amazing customer service. Would definitely come back.

Location is excellent, walkable to Little Italy, the views to the water from rooms are outstanding. Very clean room, spacious and nice decor as well.
- 3/5
We had to evacuate our rooms for an emergency and fire trucks and hazmat came. The alarms didn't go off in our flour and my children were upstairs and I could not get to them. I had to keep calling to wake them up. They eventually took me up in the service elevator to get them. We evacuated at 8am.

- 4/5

- 3/5
For what I expected to be a very high end property this place is disappointingly average. The customer service was actually poor. The front desk staff was unprofessional (horseplay behind the counter between agents while I was waiting) AND then not really good at getting through the checking in process. The agent did not explain the hidden fees and completely messed up my email address. While they were very pleasant their capabilities seemed like a lack of proper training issue. The room is nice, but nothing more than nice. The room is a bit bare…I have stayed at much lower rated places that were much nicer.

- 5/5
Great location just off the water and boardwalk. Midway across the street. Restaurant options was great. Baseball park within walking distance.
- 5/5
Well maintained, friendly staff, room service was good and hot on arrival.
- 4/5
We had two issues:- One of the female receptionists was abrupt verging on rude and un accommodating. The remainder were excellent. Secondly on the morning of our departure there was no hot water in our shower. Eventually the cold water turned lukewarm after 10 or so minutes. Regards Chris Brooks
- 5/5
Very clean and very quiet
- 4/5
The building was attractive, but the parking was far overpriced, and the mandatory resort fee was expensive and useless for us. There was no shuttle to the airport, which was nearby but certainly not close enough to walk, and no shuttle to the major tourist area (the Gaslamp area) which has no parking. The rooms were not large but generally clean, but I found insect bites after I slept there. The people who worked there were nice, and the locale is good, near the Midway Museum.
- 5/5
Great location to stay when visiting San Diego. Close to Harbor cruises, Sealort Village, Airport, Gaslamp District. Parking is easy and safe. Area is always busy and there are so many places to eat. Family friendly, staff was so helpful. Early check in is $40 first come first serve. Great stay!
- 3/5
My room was smelly.
- 4/5
The pool was very small and there isn’t any hot tub, we had problems getting in and out of parking because the room key wasn’t working.

- 4/5
Great property
- 5/5
Extremely well looked after and a welcoming atmosphere Definitely will return Thx
- 5/5
Clean room and nice area for walking.
- 3/5
The negatives: Breakfast was either hot buffet for $46 per person or cold continental for $29 per person. These are outrageously high prices. A la carte was not an option. Breakfast for two people costs about $115 with gratuity. Also, the room fridge is fully stocked with items for pay, leaving no room in the fridge to put your own water bottles. I was afraid to touch any of the items for fear I would be charged. Lastly, the bed comforter kept us too warm for San Diego summer nights, no matter how much I turned up the AC. A lighter blanket makes more sense.
- 3/5
Not very selective menu in restaurant A charge was put on the wrong credit card
- 4/5
Great location

- 4/5
The hotel was nice and we really liked the location. The room and the public areas were all very clean. We had a nice view of the USS Midway. I was expecting the resort fee and self-parking fee, but it did start the stay on a sour note when they charged us $35 to check in 2 hrs early. I’ve never paid for early check in anywhere else, ever. And that was with them having the water turned off for maintenance the following day from 10-1. We were out site seeing then, but it felt like the that waiving the fee would have been good form (but instead felt like money grubbing) knowing there was a scheduled maintenance during our stay. Other than the guy who checked us in (and he wasn’t rude, just not warm), the staff were super friendly.
- 5/5
Great location, excellent staff, clean rooms, walkable to many places, easy to catch uber/lyft, and lots of food options nearby
- 5/5
Awesome!! Thanks!
- 4/5
We did eat at the restaurants, and their claim to fame is the rooftop restaurant, Seneca Trattoria. Of course, it is not included as one of the restaurants where you can use your daily credit from the additional and required "amenity fee," and you absolutely need a reservation to get in. It was beautiful dining at the top and the food was good, but not the best Italian food I've had. Finally, I requested twice for our toiletry items such as shampoo and body wash be refilled, because for some reason, they were low when we checked in. I requested it on the second-to-last night of our stay, and the front desk assured me it would be filled while we were out to eat. Upon arrival that evening, it was not done. The next day, I saw housekeeping and requested a refill, which they said they would do, and did not. We did not have enough body wash or lotion for our final shower. I found it odd, since this is a luxury hotel. The hotel is right by the public transportation train station, so that is convenient. Overall, it was a nice experience, but after touring the area, I believe there are equal value options with more "bang for your buck."
- 3/5
No Fridge, easily get over charged for the mini bar. Never use the mini bar, but got charged after checked out without any notification.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel but they charge amenitites and parking feels which is $100/ per day.
- 5/5
Great location! Very clean! Overall a fantastic stay!
- 5/5
Very clean
- 3/5
In this case the pool is small and nothing more than a dipping pool, the location and type of internet connection points are away from the beds, not c connectors and cannot all be used at same time. Room cleaning came early and more often kept leaving notes that unable to enter room. Restaurant options are good but expensive, even for breakfast. Business centre printer was not working. On the positive, the staff were fantastic and could not help more on what were probably mundane requests. A special mention to Maria, who went out of her way to assist. The hotel itself is excellent location and has fantastic views of San Diego. When you take all these factors into account and consider the price and value for money it is difficult to move the dial beyond a 3/5.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and very mogern. Its also very well placed for downtown San Diego. Overall its a great place to stay for the San Diego experience
- 3/5
Nice location. Weird smell after housekeeping. Didn’t inform me when I let my cloth in the room after checkout
- 5/5
Location can't be beat
- 5/5
Hotel was clean! Bed was very comfortable and great view of the harbor.
- 5/5
Location and cleanliness.
- 4/5
Everyone was nice and good location! Our Air conditioning didn't work in our room and took them 2 days to get the problem addressed, and eventually change rooms. Overall, we had a nice stay.
- 4/5
Great location, 1min walk to USS Midway, 2min walk to bus stop, 15min walk to ball park. It’s expensive but save on Ubers cuz you can walk. They have a silly nightly charge of $55US per nite which is stupid, just put it all up front so ya know how much it’s gunna be total. Extra charges suck and ya can’t do anything except pay it because your checking in and finding a diff hotel short notice is hard.
- 5/5
The check-in experience was horrible and took almost two hours. The hotel said that hotels.com never sent my booking confirmation to them. We didn’t go to bed until 3am. I have a booking confirmation and receipt.
- 5/5
Everything is great
- 5/5
We did really appreciate the room upgrade though. Great location for visiting San Diego. Despite the amenity fee, we loved our stay at the hotel and would go back and stay there again.
- 5/5

The only negative comment I have is that the beds aren't comfortable. Everything else was wonderful.

- 5/5
Beautiful property, excellent location, awesome staff!
- 4/5
The buffet breakfast was not worth the money charged. No cereal selection, no fat free milk, and no omelettes.
- 5/5
My husband served on the Midway ship. So I was so happy to have an excellent view from our room. The hotel was walkable and the food at Vistal was delicious.
- 5/5
Rayna at the restaurant was wonderful!!! Maria at check in was friendly and very great to deal with. Location across from the cruise terminal and Midway museum was so convenient. Excellent nearby dining.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Felt safe through the entire stay. Walking distance to Little Italy and Gaslamp district. Only issue was a water mark left on window from room that was overseeing the harbor.

Ari at the fron desk was amazing. She was so nice and friendly. Nice rooms. Only complaint is that there wasn't a hot tub.
- 5/5
Great place!!
- 4/5
Great location, beautiful hotel, awesome gym. I just wish they did not charge high fees and give “credits”. Seemed a bit of a marketing ploy to upsell their services, e.g. up to $60 credit only for the buffet breakfast. It did not cover the whole tab. Please just bundle it in to your total nightly package cost & simplify the process. Otherwise great experience! Thank you!

The staff was fantastic. The location is amazing, right downtown near everything. Plenty to do in walking distance.

Great location. Great stay. Even though we had a standard king room, it felt very high end and was well appointed with a nice view. Maria at check-in was fantastic as were the bartenders in the lobby restaurant. Will be staying here again.

Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and made sure we had what we needed.

However this was a business trip and the quality of WiFi in the rooms was abysmal (for 2025) so I would not recommend for a trip where WiFi (for work or leisure) is a dealbreaker.

Room and common spaces were clean and well maintained.

I had a great stay at the InterContinental San Diego. The location is perfect, the rooms are modern and clean, and the area is lively and beautiful. Everything else about the stay was excellent. However, I want to share a concern that stood out during check-in. While the staff member assisting me was very helpful and respectful, I noticed that a few other front desk staff nearby—particularly some of the girl staff standing on the side—seemed to give off a subtle but uncomfortable vibe. As an Indian guest, it felt like there was a moment of surprise or silent judgment, as if questioning how someone like me simple could be staying at a luxury 4 star hotel. I fully acknowledge that this could have been my own interpretation, and I’m not claiming it was intentional. But it’s important to note that unspoken expressions or body language can still affect how welcome a guest feels. They keep lookinh at us again and again. I believe sensitivity and inclusion training for all staff could help ensure every guest—regardless of race, background, or appearance—is made to feel equally respected. Despite this, the overall experience was excellent, and I would still recommend the hotel for its quality and service.

I‘d like to know what is the brand of the mattress?

Main complaint was noise from multiple weddings at night. Loud thumping music until 10-1030 pm

Awesome place. Will book again.

The concierge and front desk knows nothing about local bus route and whether taxi needs baby chair which is quite rare for a 5 stars hotel

Everything was perfect. Service, facilities, location . The room was spacious with a beautiful view of the bay. This is a perfect hotel either for vacations or business trips.

This hotel was extremely nice and the staff was very welcoming! I brought my son to San Diego for Spring break and the hotel is located right on the water and really close to the Zoo and Belmont Park! We had a blast!

Good locations and close to many sight seeing opportunities.

We were just staying one night and we selected the hotel for it's proximity to the cruise terminal. Was great for that. The amenities were not useful to us, so this felt like an expensive option (and the mandatory resort fee didn't help). A nice room with a great view was what we wanted and we did get that. If we were staying longer and could have made use of the facilities, I'm sure

My second time staying at an Intercintinental IHG property and I must give high praise to all staff from the valet, the bellman, the Manager, Bar staff, and others that just smiled and went on about their business of taking care of other guests. Impressive from the moment you step onto the property. Well done and Bravo 🙌
