Lastly, I tried to reach the staff for three days to cancel but was unable to get a return call
- 1/5
The staff was rude and unhelpful. The description did not match reality. Im not sure how a freeway right in front of the hotel and a big hill directly behind it, equates to direct beach access. It gave sketchy vibes and we ended up not staying here.
- 2/5
Very run down and not maintained well.
- 1/5
Staff was very friendly, but the hotel was run down and rooms were in awful condition. Wet floor, dirty room, bathroom was in poor condition.
- 5/5
It was a nice stay wish I could’ve extended
- 1/5
We had to request a new air-conditioning unit because the one in our room was not functioning. The shower didn’t work, and neither did the TV. The only thing that worked properly was the refrigerator. I will never stay here again. The hotel’s description is very misleading. It is not within walking distance of the beach as advertised. The property is located on a one-way-in, one-way-out street, and unfortunately there was a fire the same night we stayed. As a result, we were stuck at the hotel with no food options, no drinks available, and no way to leave. Overall, this was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. I highly do not recommend staying here.
- 0.5/5
The room was full of smoky smell. By the time we checked in it was already midnight. The access card given was continuously failing and had to go back and forth multiple times. When we informed about the smoke smell, the receptionist did not even care and simply said, all rooms are non smoke. And other thing is, that there was one big board to enter into hotel but there are no hotel sign boards even to find out where the reception is. It did not even meet the basic expectation of Cleanliness, access card functionality and non smoke rooms and better reception and little sign boards for the directions.

This place should not be considered a hotel, it is more like an outdated apartment building that is falling apart. People live here, there was a person with their Christmas tree outside their door. This place needs so many repairs and is currently under construction. I feel bad for the people that work there, because Laura at the front desk was nice and the maintenance guy was nice too. I understand it's not their fault that this building is falling apart and they are trying hard to deal with all the problems this building has, which are way too many. It is situated in a very bad neighborhood, there was a helicopter circling the hotel while we were there announcing that there was a suspect at large. There was a big fire that started across the street. There is a homeless man living in the parking structure which is a storage for the hotel where they hoarder all kinds of old furniture, refrigerators, tv's, etc... I did not feel safe to stay there with my family so we didn't! Now I'm waiting to get my money back, but the manager doesn't seem to ever be around to approve the refund.

I do appreciate the staff and how sweet they were but this place should be condemned. My original room had people still in the unit, and the other room they gave me was so incredibly dirty, that if my grandmother hadn't passed and I had to be there for my family, I would have left. My room was infested with spiders, bed bugs, and who knows what else was in there. I would avoid this place entirely.
- 2/5
Extremely run down. Not worth the price. Dirty floors and bathroom. Would not stay again
- 4/5
Parking was convenient

Location and friendly staff I found bugs on my bed. I took pictures. The shower was leaking very bad all night. I open the fridge and all water came up. Microwave was not working. AC was not working at all. They moved me to 2 other rooms because the first time the room was not done by housekeeper. The last room I was, I stayed there. They could not fixed the bad things in the second room. I want a refund of my first night in room 321. If you need picture of the bugs, please let me know.

Poorly maintained and out dated.

This hotel was a piece of crap. It had a roach dead on the wall stains on the sofa wore my grandson was gonna sleep. Bathroom was dirty floors was stained.
- 1/5
This property is well past it's prime. Very dirty and worn. The room smelled strongly of cat urine, which immediately forced us to rebook at another property. Mind you, they put us in three different rooms and none of which didn't smell of animal.
- 3.5/5
Nothing The facility smell in the bedrooms, the walk way was old and needs fixing. I love that it had an elevator . But the area had lots of homeless walking around. The front desk person very helpful.
- 1/5
the bed was decent room floors was dirty floors had dried stain all over, furniture was dirty with dried stains all over. I brought this staff attention , they show me another room that was the same condition. I was in room #204. nasty and dirty.

- 2/5
I will start with the positive and say the bed was comfy and staff in the lobby was fine. Now the negative. Bathroom was not clean to my standards. There was a smear of blood near the light switch near the toilet, there was scum on the mat in the bathtub meaning it hasn't not been moved and cleaned in some time. We stayed at the hotel 2 nights and our bed was never fixed. Every last vending machine on site did not work.
- 2/5
The room smelled horrible, mold stains in the bathroom the carpet looked dirty. Over all would never stay there again
- 1/5
The room was dirty bathroom and shower where dirty hair in the tub, bed sheets had holes, the tv didn’t even turn on the shower had water leaking all night top it all the elevator would get stuck this is the worst experience I ever had
- 3/5
The room overall had a unpleasant smell to it. Almost like cigarette smell but it may have also come from the carpets not smelling so clean. The shower was a little broken and I had trouble keeping the actual shower coming out from the shower head. Any time I pulled the knob on the bottom faucet to transition the faucet to the shower it was coming out from the wall.
- 0.5/5
The housekeeping staff was very nice. I was offered “early check-in” and I received confirmation of it being approved, when I arrived they said there weren’t any rooms available so I had to return at regular check-in time.

Air conditioning does not work well and everything is old. I’ve stayed here twice now and both times was not impressed. The location is good.
- 1/5
Very outdated and looked a lot better in pictures. It should not be open
- 3/5
Very old and not clean. There was hair everywhere and the floors were dirty.
- 1/5
My room was flooded with water oozing from a hole in the middle of the room for two days straight. The pipes were leaking from the garage ceiling.
- 1/5
you get what you pay for, bathroom shower has very low water pressure, do not be surprised if you find a roach, hotel has long term residents.
- 1/5
The rooms are a disaster nothing like in the pictures, I would not recommend to anyone, the room had an over welling smell of cigar so I asked for another room and it was the same thing, there was stains all over the bed and the pillows had mold on them, spider webs on the sprinkler system. The only good thing was the front desk people super nice but this place is disgusting we drove all the way from phoenix and only stayed the one night instead of the whole 3 days, the only reason we stayed that night because we didn’t get there till 12am. This place ruined our whole trip. It was suppose to be a relaxing babymoon for me and my pregnant wife, only reason it wasn’t a total waste is because we went to SeaWorld in the morning
- 2/5
The room was old and smelled. The bed was clean and the staff were great.
- 3/5
Room was not the greatest, the metal corner thing from the wall coming off, the carpet was against the wall was also coming off. Toilet was backed up and took almost an hr to get a plunger but the gentleman in the office buhh was nice enough to let me use the office restroom.
- 1/5
Dirty room, carpet had visible stains, leaking shower. Homeless roams the grounds.
- 1/5
Staff was really nice but the property was terrible
- 2/5
Over rated. Stairs smelled like dog peed, rooms were smelly I don’t recommend staying here.
- 1/5
The room was horrible, the shower leaked all night. They never came and cleaned our rooms. The two nights we were there. After we requested, I will never stay there again. I was told a manager, would call me the next morning and they never called me.
- 1/5
Not advertised as in Expedia. WAY OFF THE CHARTS
- 3/5
You choose this place because it’s inexpensive. You get what you pay for. New carpet and furniture would do a lot to improve.
- 3/5
Our sink had nail polish all over it, the front door latch was loose, the carpet was torn, the lights flickered alot, and the closet smelled like mold. Based on our room, I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel has electrical and water damage issues. I wouldn't take the elevator, the floor was peeling up and the buttons were so worn, they had no directions. The hotel is in an okay location, but based on the condition, I wouldn't recommend people staying here unless necessary. It gave motel, one night vibes. At one time this hotel was probably well maintained. These are all things the owners need to fix and are not a reflection of the staff's customer service.
- 5/5
The room was fairly clean but had a mildewy smell. The front desk staff was terrific, though, and the location is really convenient to shops and restaurants, including Target.
- 2/5
There were what looked like hookers and druggys loitering around Everything was either dirty or aged
- 3/5
The room showed wear and tear and the furniture and carpet were filthy.
- 1/5
Elevator broken so we had to bring our suit cases up 3 flight of stairs because we were given the top floor.
- 2/5
The sofa had tears, dirty, and in need of a major overhaul of the room, a couple of wood pieces were rotting away in the restroom and entrance door. Gym was under remodel
- 1/5
We went to visit San diego, our stay was 3days 2 nights, checked in at 3pm. Got the wrong room, cards keys weren't reading the door had to go twice, when opened our room, room wasn't the one we reserved, smelled so bad. Like old, superd old! Went back to front desk, immediately they changed us to a different room, room wasn't ready. We had to wait outside the room for housekeeping ladies! Room was ready in 30 min, went inside smelled the same, furniture tvs were dusty with tabacco on the side, that was Saturday march 21st, sunday, we left to SeaWorld, we came back rooms weren't clean, beds weren't made again, we put dirty towels on the floor to get new and clean ones, well we came back to the rooms the same, we had to go to front desk to get clean towels! Shower drain wasn't working! Water was stuck in the bathtub! Im not a person to rate places but this time, it really was a deception moment!! Floor carpet super dirty and stains! Its a really nice from outside, but from inside definitely needs a remodel!!
- 5/5
Not bad for the area and the price . Definitely needs updating but overall nice, spacious and quiet.
- 2/5
No fitness room. No breakfast. Elevator did not work. Outside filthy and drug addicts hang out in Parking garage. Inside rooms clean but shabby. Front desk very friendly. Good location and dogs allowed.
- 2/5
They slapped new paint on it and act like it’s something special by putting “suites” in the title. Yet old “la Quinta Inn” stuff is everywhere.
- 3/5
Hotel a little out dated. The elevator s little sketchy. The room had s fun smell, tv only got one channel. Bunk beds had weight of 100lbs.
- 5/5
Yes
- 1/5
Old, dingy, smelly. Sorry we checked out after 5 minutes of being there because we could not stay there. Too many wrong things. Did not feel safe. There were 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Nobody wanted to stay.
- 5/5
Reasonable price and museums, parks, and restaurants near.
- 2/5
Whatever you do, do not stay in Room 206, it's horrible for the following reasons. The carpet is damp in areas, and smelled like dog. The windows did not open so we had to have the maintenance man open them. Upon conversation with the maintenance man he informed us that this is a pet friendly hotel which explained so much. It made me question the carpet cleanliness, and I think they need to be replaced. Our ac units do not work meaning the room stayed warm. The pillows are uncomfortable and so is the mattress. Also the couches has stains all over them and look like they haven't been cleaned in years. This was not a pleasant experience and I have trouble believing the whole hotel was sold out when the parking lot was only half full. The hotel has 3 floors and they put me on the 2nd floor when I wanted the highest floor. When I asked for a different room they told me the hotel was fully booked. I will see the king room set up is nice with the additional living room but that's about the only plus. I didn't check out the pool and I think it mentioned a gym but I didn't check it out either. The location is a bonus not being far from main attractions so that's another highlight but overall the room was disappointing. I probably would have given this a higher rating if it wasn't for the terrible room I experienced.
- 5/5
Hot tub was great! The room was perfect for a family, lots of space!
- 4/5
The location is good, near everything. Shopping, restaurants, next to the fwy. In general our experience was good for our budget.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 2/5
We stayed in the family suite with bunkbeds since we thought that was a cute idea for the kids. The hotel is very run down. It looked decent in photos plus at booking it also offered continental breakfast. When we checked in there was a sign that they no longer had breakfast. We also noticed it was a recently renamed hotel. Rooms were rundown like the rest of the hotel. Damages and old. Pool was also not clean. The AC worked and they gave little toiletries. If you’re trying to stretch your dollar on a San Diego Vacation this is an option. But I probably would’ve paid the extra $25/night for a hotel we previous stayed on at last summer.
- 5/5
The property is very well located. Since it is an old building it does need some work and remodeling which I have learned that this hotel is going to go trough a major renovation starting in April. The fact that it is bit old actually makes it better bc the rooms are spacious and you have privacy and it's super quiet. Laundry room is good and machines do the work. It is a very nice property and I can't wait for the renovations and it's going to be a Marriott actually! Meantime I will still come back bc I just liked everything!
- 4/5
The location is great if you are looking to get to University Heights area. Hotel is older and you can see fixes. It must at one time allowed smoking and the carpet is holding onto that smell.
- 1/5
I contacted hotel.com for assistance but nothing. WE Hated it here! Not sure I will continue to use Hotel.com.
- 1/5
As soon as we walked in and looked around there were roaches everywhere. The toilet looked to have dried up vomit on it. We immediately turned around and left
- 3/5
The room was okay. Nothing like the pictures. Smelled like cigarettes and couch had burn holes in them. Definitely needs an update or actual updated photos. But the staff was super nice and the area was good. Not to far from the main city
- 1/5
This was by far the worst experience i have had. The room smelled like old dirty wet dog. My allergies flared up right away. Expedia should be ashame listing this property.
- 1/5
Their system wasn’t updating so I never even got to check in. Waited 2 hours and left since it was late.
- 4/5
Upon arrival and check it in the front desk, staff was very friendly and helpful. I would say that the room is a bit outdated and could use new furniture. The toilet was absolutely horrific, but I made it work even though it barely wanted to flush. The water pressure in the shower was really good and it was also hot so I did appreciate that. There is a miniature fridge and microwave in the room as well which comes in handy. There’s also a small complementary tea and coffee set up in the room for those that enjoy that in the morning or throughout the day. The location of the hotel is very convenient as it is within walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping at the mall. It’s also about 10 minutes from Mission Beach, which is also very convenient. Overall, I would probably stay there again trust because the service was really good. Anytime I needed new towels or toiletry items.
- 1/5
The room was not at all like the pictures. no doubt the picutres are doctored up. The Ac was broken and it was leaking in the room. They would no give us another room. They poured bleach in the room to mask the mold and the stink of the ac draining in the room. the front desk person was completely rude and non understanding. After talking to the person who should up to fix it we were told that he was never notified of iteven though we were waiting for over and hour to fix. since they would not refund my the room price i rented another room in another hotel. I am defeintely considering sueing them .
- 1/5
room is not clean, sink is too low, no comforter provided only white sheets and a thin blanket , TV is not working. not gonna stay there again. sink is dirty.towels are placed in the rack thats so dirty,
- 3/5
The pool and hot tub were dirty. Room was ok. Staff was nice. You can hear people walking by.

- 1/5
The room was terrible. It was dirty. Bugs everywhere. Cigarette burns in the blanket's chunk. Holes in the curtains. The room above us was like throwing a party. All d*** night. We call the front desk to complain but nothing happen. It was the worst hotel experience I ever ha.
- 1/5
Room had a weird smell. Water was running and bath tub had stains. Do not stay here
- 4/5
All good bit dated but room was spotless
- 3/5
The room was clean, however there was a smell in there. Not sure what from. Shower faucet is very finicky, and was spraying water all over the bathroom floor. The elevator you have to watch as it almost closed on us. From the condition of the hotel, it could use a paint job.
- 5/5
No issues, great stay!
- 1/5
I was so disappointed upon entering my room. Immediate disgust. The room was filthy and felt neglected as if no one had deep cleaned it in months. The mini fridge didn’t even work. I had to take the loss of my $$$ and book at a better taken care of hotel and I did NOT regret it at all. The pictures on the website aren’t even current so pretty much a scam in a way as well. DO NOT BOOK HERE. ESPECIALLY if you have little ones.
- 1/5
The check in was quick but the room had a bad small as well as the bed sheets and furniture was all scratched, the room needs to be remodel. It felt like an old motel picture we’re deceiving from online.
- 2/5
This place really should be torn down and replaced, not sure a remodel would be helpful. Again, not the staff they were great, just the hotel was not good.
- 1/5
Please avoid this hotel at all costs especially if you have kids. We chose this hotel since it had the option for bunk beds. However, upon arriving we were provided with a room that had a very strong smell of cigarettes. I informed the general manager (middle aged man), I can’t recall his name. He agreed to provide an alternative room, but this room also smelled but not like cigarettes it instead smelled like moisture and mildew. We asked if the windows could be opened to help with the smell and the motel engineer came up to open the windows. The engineer acknowledged the bad smell and encouraged us to get an alternate room. I felt bad asking for an additional room, but went ahead and asked for it since it was not good for my kids to be inhaling all the mildew smell. The third room did not smell as bad but the hallways where the room was located was full of dirty linens and it appeared as if the next room over had a motel guest with a hoarding issue; I’m not sure if this motel also contracts as a homeless shelter. After seeing all the options provided I asked if it was possible to obtain a refund since I did not feel comfortable staying here with my kids. The general manager agreed to offer a refund, but once the refund was provided his hospitality changed. His affect and mood changed from pleasant to condescending/angry. He asked us to leave immediately and said he did not owe us anything. I was happy to fulfill his request, please don’t stay here if you have kids trust me!
- 1/5
The room stinks, there are electrical problems, smoke comes out when you use the microwave, and the armchair is old and dirty.
- 1/5
The shower was broken and constantly dripping, and the room smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals. Despite that, there were toenail clippings on the carpet and chair, and hair left in the sink and bathtub. Overall, the room looked and felt unclean, and I felt uncomfortable the entire stay. The only positive aspect of this property was the location—it was within 10 minutes of everything. Unfortunately, that alone would not be enough for me to return.
- 2/5
Room was rundown but clean. Furniture was broken and had cigarette burns. Bed was worn out.
- 4/5
.
- 2/5
The staff was not very friendly and the shower had rusty stains and the water would not stop dripping.
- 5/5
Everything was very nice.
- 5/5
Staff was super courteous, friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The pool was pretty nice with the hot tub, especially was very satisfactory due to the type of weather. It was when I got there the heating the room everything worked perfectly. There’s really no complaints. I’d stay there again if I came back to San Diego.
- 2/5
Nice customer service.
- 1/5
The room had a bad smell that kept triggering my wife asthma. Like old wood not sure that the smell is from. Also walking to our room seemed like every other room smelled like Marijuana.
- 1/5
The first room we were in had water coming up through the floor and I woke up with big puddles in the room. They were quick to get us a new room which was good but after the first day that room smelled like wet mildew the rest of the week. Our room was only cleaned 1 time out of 7 days that we stayed there. There was no continental breakfast, free parking or anything exercise room, despite advertising that they had all three. There is a $15 charge for daily parking despite the fact they have no cameras on their lot and no security on site that would justify the charge. And you can park for free on the street right in front of the hotel. Also the hot tub wasn’t working while we were there either. The elevator was super scary to use but we were on the 3rd floor so we had to use it. The inspection certificate for the elevator was expired by 3 months! DO NOT STAY HERE! The little extra$ for the hotels that are close by is worth the difference in cost for what you would get. This hotel was the worst part of a good vacation.
- 1/5
The hotel was extremely unprofessional and run down. There were nails sticking out of the floor, broken cabinets, trash left full from previous guests, and chunks missing from the wall paper. The front desk staff didn’t say a word to me while his friends were watching an extremely violent horror movie in the lobby. Thankfully my kids stayed in the car during check in. The only redeeming factor was the bunk beds. Will not be staying here again.
- 2/5
Poor
- 4/5
It was all right it was clean staff was very polite and helpful there was no breakfast continental or anything like that but we knew that when we chose it
- 2/5
The room smelt musky and like mold and lacked amenities
- 3/5
Room is spacious enough
- 1/5
Bathroom has mold, AC didn't work, fridge leaked, bedsheets thin and stained.
- 2/5
The elevator did not work to begin with. Television was terrible. Toilet got clogged twice.
- 1/5
We saw a cockroach…. The shower/tub was constantly leaking, and the floor made our feet black. The room was disgusting and the room was advertised as a nice hotel. This was a motel that they don’t clean. We will never stay there again
- 4/5
It was decent for the price. Nice people. Clean place. Good location
- 1/5
my room wasn’t ready when i arrived was giving wrong key for my room and worst of all my headboard fell in the middle of the night and i asked to speak to manager and no one contacted me
- 5/5
The manager is wonderful - kind and helpful and creative when unexpected issues arise ! The suites are large and comfortable for an incredibly affordable price. Would highly recommend and will come back next time I am in San Diego!
- 5/5
Front people really nice
- 3/5
Never cleaned the room and when I asked for service they simply said no
- 5/5
Everything great
- 3/5
Staff ok, the room old and smelled of tobacco
- 5/5
Nice and friendly staff
- 2/5
Rooms are not as shown in pictures ! Not terrible but very misleading
- 1/5
I would like a refund this place is so disgusting, it smells like cigarettes, the floor is so dirty, the beds were filthy. My 2 year old couldn’t sleep at all because the room felt so stuffy!!!! This hotel is inhabitable!!! It’s poorly maintained!!
- 1/5
Too much noise from other travelers. Screaming and walking around 2 in the morning. Not being courteous to others that are trying to sleep.
- 4/5
It is an older hotel but it was good for the price.
- 3/5
Rooms are okay. No free parking.
- 1/5
Don’t let the pictures fool you this hotel is nothing like what you see in the pictures. Rust and mold in the showers. A brown sectional pull out sofa that was once green. Stained disgusting carpet. Non smoking facilities with cigarette burns trout the room as well as smell. And if you’re really looking for a good time prostitutes working out of the hotel that want to keep you company. The rooms here are falsely advertised and pretty sure all of their great reviews were fake. Run while you can
- 1/5
Rooms smelt like dog, urine and cigarettes..full of mold and csrpets were so grungy dirty..we got a refund and left to snother hotel..not yo mention a prostatute in the parking lot and office screaming and cussing..
- 5/5
Checking staff kind of rude
- 2/5
The room smelled like old dirty rug and was dated! I will say that at least it was clean.
- 3/5
The place was clean and the staff was nice but the furniture and property are tied and old.
- 2/5
Hotel needs more updates
- 5/5
I had a chill and quiet 2night stay. My suite was clean. Santiago checked me in & was welcomed me with a smile and he was quick checking me in. I love restaurants and convenient store are walking distance*
- 3/5
You get what you pay for. Our room was outdated and smelled like mold. Again, you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
Good place to stay an nice area
- 4/5
Friendly staff was good for the price no complaints
- 2/5
When it was a La Quinta, it was kept up. Will ever stay here again.
- 5/5
AC worked perfectly, nice quiet place and easy parking.
- 1/5
Dirty room and garage got sick from there
- 2/5
Old musty not smoke free
- 5/5
Had an amazing stay & the staff was friendly nothing bad at all.
- 5/5
Only issues was no hot water but loved our room
- 3/5
The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is very "tired". The reviews and ranking are correct, it is 5 or 6 level hotel. Beds are comfortable but the rooms are really old. Our bathroom had a tub that always had running water. No way to stop it. The hot water in the sink for the bar would make a full rotation so you had to delicately find the exact spot to stop the water. It was clean, but just really old. The bathroom fan sounded like a chainsaw, etc. It wasn't miserable and we were just there for the night, I would not want to be here for a longer stay. I think a little care can get this place to a solid & and make it much more enjoyable.

floor was linoleum and needed a good mop. very dirty
- 2/5
The carpet was so dirty, it made my toddlers feet black on the bottom. Staff was so nice and pool looked nice but the carpet was a big bummer.
- 5/5
Guests from room above were too loud, footsteps and banging on floor all night
- 1/5
The room was very dirty and smelled like mildew. The bathroom did not look like it was cleaned from the previous guest. There was hair on the bathroom floor and we had to clean the toilet before using it. The walls are very thin. The people above us were running around their room. We could not sleep. We decided to leave in the middle of the night and go home. Never stay here!
- 3/5
It was ok. It was cheap. Sheets/beds were clean. Bathroom was clean.
- 1/5
I wouldn’t stay here if the ro was free. I checked in and I knew I Messed up by booking this place. The kid at the check in counter was nice, that’s about the only positive thing I have to say. There was some shady stuff going on in the parking lots, the room smelled musty and the Place looked dirty. Yup I didn’t stay there and immediately asked for a refund “which I got”
- 3/5
Room amenities did no work, one washer and dryer for the whole facility to share, staff was tending to our concerns. Accommodated our concerns as well.
- 2/5
When I book it said breakfast included. I woke up early and they only had coffee. The shower had rust. Rooms are very small. And the photos are misleading. Also, they charge $15 to park your car.
- 1/5
Room was not clean I got a message that we are the guest of the day and they offered free parking and they charged us for parking!! Don’t go there ever!!!

At first, I thought the bites I got were from mosquitoes after visiting SeaWorld, but later I realized it was actually bed bugs from the hotel room. This was extremely upsetting and made what should have been a fun family trip very stressful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Cleanliness and basic hygiene should be the minimum standard, and this property failed completely.
- 1/5
While the staff was friendly and quick to respond to problems, the room itself was gross. There were stains all over the carpet and the couch. The door needed to be pushed harder than normal to be opened and closed. Would not stay here again.
- 1/5
The pictures provided were deceiving for this hotel. The rooms smelt musty and were dirty. I found cockroaches in the bathroom. I stayed with my husband and 3 kids, one being a baby. We weren't able to sleep comfortably due to the bugs. The bath towels were stained with blood. Overall it was a terrible stay and I would never stay there again! I don't recommend this hotel especially if you have children.
- 3/5
One staff member was incredibly helpful. However, the first person we talked to on check-in was rude and disrespectful. They got our accommodations wrong and he blamed me and the person who took the reservation saying they were new. I'm disabled and had to stay on the 2nd floor instead of the 1st. His only solution was to offer me a more expensive upgrade!!! Which I didn't need. He wasn't nice, or understanding, JUST...PLAIN...RUDE. We won't be returning. You should fire him.
- 5/5
Clean room nice area.
- 4/5
Friendly the easiest check In I’ve ever experienced I would stay again
- 4/5
Thank you
- 3/5
I did appreciate that it was near old town San Diego and many restaurants.
- 1/5
I booked it for a family of five based on the photos and description online, which were completely misleading. The room was filthy. We found a roach right away, the beds looked disgusting, and there was someone else’s hair on a towel. That alone should’ve been enough to walk out. The curtains were full of holes, letting in light like they’d been chewed through. The walls were cracked, the bathroom door frame was literally falling apart, and the lamp had stains on the shade. Everything felt run-down, neglected, and honestly just gross. To make it worse, the front desk staff, Walter I believe, was rude and dismissive, like he couldn’t care less about the condition of the place or the fact that I was clearly upset. The only good thing about this stay? Getting my money back. And even that felt like a miracle. Bottom line: Avoid this place like the plague. Or don’t — if you enjoy roaches, dirty towels, crumbling walls, and a full-on horror movie vibe. You’re better off sleeping in your car.
- 2/5
I booked a non smoking room and the room we got smelled like cigarettes as soon as we walked in. The floors were dirty. The sofa had multiple visible stains, ripped and smelled bad.
- 4/5
Dark around property
- 2/5
Grounds were very dirty
- 1/5
We had to leave at midnight due to BED BUGS infested in the beds! We had to fight for a refund!
- 5/5
Over all amazing
- 5/5
It was exactly what I expected and it was at a good rate.
- 1/5
The room was dirty. Tube from shower was dirty. Tv was out dated only had antenna channels. Every other hotel I’ve ever stay at at least had the option for you to connect to Netflix ,Hulu, YouTube etc.
- 1/5
Absolutely disturbing. After checking in I found used condoms in my trash can of a supposedly clean room. Called the front desk and told them and they showed no concern. Just told me to put the trash can outside for a maid to pick up. So disappointing
- 4/5
Staff was amazing but property was very dirty
- 4/5
.
- 2/5
Not impressed.
- 3/5
For the price, it was reasonable, glad I only stayed there for one night though. For the price and a quick stay, it's great. It did have maybe some moldy smell and some leaks in the bath, but you get what u pay for. Staff up front was great though, really nice and welcoming.
- 2/5
The shower was very stained and the outside property was dirty.
- 3/5
It met my expectations for the price so not bad honestly. The parking garage for guests was a huge plus, the outside of the building could be a bit cleaner as far as the steps and railings but hey there’s always something right? No breakfast available, room and pool area were very clean in my opinion. Would definitely stay again for the price you can’t beat that.
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly
- 4/5
It was a nice quiet area. Look prety safe
- 4/5
Everything was easy for our short stay
- 1/5
No free breakfast for the price I paid 😞

We checked in pretty late at night, we came into a room that had a big puddle on the bedroom floor because of an active water leak. The room stunk and had visible mold. The bathroom walls were dirty and damaged. We cleaned up the puddle and after flushing the toilet later, the puddle reappeared in the bedroom. The water was seeping up through the floor. This seems to be an ongoing problem for that room because the entire floor looks like it’s had years of water damage and never replaced. We would’ve stayed the first night if we could breathe. It was truly a hazard. We called the front desk and they could not accommodate us with a different room, so we had to leave and find a different hotel in San Diego in the middle of the night. The girl at the front acted as if she’s heard it a million times and did not seem to care. She said we’d have to talk to the hotel manager if we wanted a refund. We called Expedia and our credit card company immediately. We didn’t expect high end for the price, but we thought we would get at least a comfortable and clean, hazard free, room. Nope, not here. This is not the place. We did get a beautiful room, but it was at a different hotel at 3am.
- 5/5
Very clean. Very near a lot of restaurants, convenient stores, and the missiin valley mall, so there's the convenience of having that near by. Private parking garage. Beds were comfortable, not stiff. Internet offered. There's a pool and jacuzzi, and a small laundry room. Overall, great experience.
- 1/5
BEWARE!!! DO NOT STAY HERE. DO NOT CHANCE IT. I give 5 stars for the shower's water pressure, but all else deserves a -5. The door to the room was jammed and had to be shoved with full body weight in order for it to open/close. The wooden door appeared to have expanded due to moisture, not allowing it to fit within the doorframe any longer. Extremely strong musty smell upon entering. The smell stayed on us and all our clothes. I had to wash everything we had packed, even if we did not use/wear it all. The carpet felt damp throughout the room. The shower was dirty and covered in hair. The tub spout continuously ran, which was more than a trickle. There was no trash can anywhere in the room. The phone in the room was missing the phone cord so we had to call the front desk from our cell phone. The bunkbed intended for the kids was beyond wobbly, making it very unsafe. The elevator was out of order and we were on the third floor. The parking garage was like a junkyard. When we spoke to staff about the missing trash can and phone cord, they were unphased by it and we were delivered a small trash can. Maintenance came by the next day and provided us a phone cord and an aerosol can of glade air freshener that was broken so we were given a small Allen wrench to use in order to spray the air freshener. We were instructed to leave the air fresher and wrench outside our door when we were done using it. Do NOT believe the pictures. A Motel 6 is a MAJOR upgrade from this joke of a hotel.
- 1/5
The property was dangerous and unclean, with people using illicit drugs in common areas, unmade beds, bugs, mold, etc in our room. We were unable to stay due to the unsafe conditions.
- 2/5
The hotel was dingy and smelled like smoke even though there were sign around for no smoking. I made sure to keep my shoes on because the floor felt wet. I brought this up to the staff. They were apologetic but said this is the way the hotel is.
- 3/5
The property itself was decent. A place for a low price. The beds both had stains on them and the shower and toilet would randomly run for no reason throughout the night. The rooms are right next to the freeway making it noisy at night. There is very limited parking and very small spaces. You get what you pay for though. Not a bad place for a single night stay.
- 2/5
Front desk did not have towels. Premises not well maintained.
- 1/5
Too many shady individuals yelling causing problems in outside the rooms
- 2/5
Sadly I feel like I got hotel catfished. You look at the pics and the property looks nice. The rooms look great. Then you get there and the parking is not great. There is spaces in a garage under the actual hotel areas but it’s riddled with leaking pipes and water damage. I feel like at some point this place is going to collapse. The lobby and staff a good so no issue there however the room…oh man the room. You walk in and it smells of mildew. The carpets are filthy. The couch looks unsafe to sit on it’s so nasty. The bed was fine thank goodness. The bathroom however has mold on the ceilings and the tub feels like it’s going to eventually fall through the floor and into the room below. I was so happy I just needed a quick night of sleep here to be honest. This place needs an overhaul pronto!
- 2/5
The parking deposit was not disclosed anywhere until arrival. Paid a deposit to park overnight, plus an additional fee per car. We had 2 vehicles and parking alone, the total was $75 of unexpected charges before even getting a key to a room. The first room given to me seemed like a housekeeper hasn't touched it since the 80's. Very strong smell of mold and mildew, stains on the couch, rust in the bathtub, and wallpaper peeling. Went back to front desk and immediately switched rooms. To my surprise, the second room smelled like soap. Seems very strange to me to distribute rooms without quality inspections. Both rooms were on the same floor, but complete opposites when it came to cleanliness. The following morning, the fire alarm went off. Upon calling front desk, they told us that not all guests were notified of said fire drill. Seems strange to hold a property-wide fire drill but not inform ALL of your guests. The fire alarm was going off before 10am. Imagine waking up in a panic because the fire alarm is going off, then having a hard time falling back to sleep. Checkout wasn't until noon but we ended up checking out at 10am. There were far too many issues and hidden fees that were not disclosed until after checking in. The gym was also closed, and the underground parking didn't feel safe at all. Also, the property is poorly lit with some exit signs not illuminated at all. As a first time visitor, it left an impression on me, but not in a good way. Won't stay here ever again!
- 1/5
Room walls were dirty. Night stand lamps didn't work but the one reason i would never go back or recommend this place is because the toilet was clogged before we set foot in the room. I called for maintenence and the maintenence guy came and handed me a plunger for me to fix it. Why are they charging for maintenence if they make the guest do the work! My wife spoke to 2 guys upon checking out and they basically sided with the maintenence guy. Didnt bother to actually investigate why maintenence did that.
- 3/5
I give the hotel 8/10
- 1/5
The location is great. Unfortunately, the hotel was not. The hotel smelled like mold. The room looked like it had not been cleaned or dusted in months. The shower only ran hot water. They sent maintenance to fix the shower but it only fixed temporarily and then it went back to hot water again. I would never stay here again.
- 3/5
You get what you pay for, it was not terrible Quiet, older rooms but clean. The bunk beds were very uncomfortable and only made for small people. You get what you pay for
- 3/5
I wouldn’t choose to stay here again just based on interior.
- 1/5
Room had roaches, AC vents were disgusting and the room stunk bad. Shower water was running since we arrived and the handle was hard to operate.
- 1/5
Please Expedia, do not promote this business. I wish I could get my money back. The elevator to take you to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors shakes really bad & closes on you as you’re trying to get on & off the elevator. It’s not safe. They do not offer breakfast in the morning. They charge you $15.00 a day to park your car in the parking lot. The water pressure fluctuates as you’re taking a shower. The toilet is really loud when you flush. The pillows were hard & flat. The pullout couch bed didn’t have pillows. The tv only got 3 clear channels. All the others were scrambled or blacked out. The room lighting was very dark. The pool lights don’t come on at night. You will be swimming in the dark at night. That too is a safety hazard. I again really wish I hadn’t booked there. You should really take them off your website.
- 1/5
Room smelled like cigarettes, was dirty, baseboards were coming up. Not to mention i was overcharged per night by making reservation. I should have just paid for the room when we showed up instead of making reservations. Will not stay here again, very disappointing.

The room smelled old, ac didn’t work well. No gym and no breakfast. Centrally located.

The AC worked great but the overall cleanliness was not great. The sheets were stained so were the wash cloths

Going into a room with your daughter and grandkids upon check in just to find fresh blood in a bed, old sheets and a air conditioner that shells like urine is not a good start. Then telling my wife that she can change theets herself if she meets them over at the laundry. What a complete dive
- 3/5
It was fine but we had to ask for cleaning on day 2, extra towels, and the building overall could use an upgrade on building maintenance.
- 3/5
Stay was Ok family trip. They say online breakfast included. They are not serving breakfast. They have a $75 deposit which is refundable. They didn't mentioned on reservation.
- 1/5
I do not recommend families to stay in this hotel. The hotel guests are dangerous.
- 3/5
Sink outlet didn’t work. Tub faucet wouldn’t turn off.
- 4/5
When you come to San Diego and stay at any place in Hotel Circle, more than 90% of the time will be 20+ years old. As I come very often, we look for places renovated and with good staf. This hotel used to be "La Quinta" but it is painted, clean and most important, all the staf were very friendly. We needed some help with the AC, and in 5 minutes a very nice guy came and fixed it. Asked for more towels, used the pool, everybody did a good job.
- 3/5
Trouble with the room,
- 5/5
All good
- 1/5
On top of that, this residence refused to refund our money and claim that was their policy. Really disgustingly, dirty, and unsanitary. Would not recommend it for anyone.
- 2/5
Besides the night clerk who was super nice and beyond helpful. Nothing else was really good about this place. The first room we went to was flooded and we found hair everywhere on the beds and bathroom. The second room had a strong smell.
- 2/5
Roches inside room, neighbors doors were broken off hinge and broken into. Pool chemically failed, too much acid, no bromine in spa, too high tds.
- 5/5
Close to everything, clean. My favorite part is the convenience of online amenities
- 2/5
I don't think the property or Expedia are being upfront about this being a dilapidated motel. It is not only hurting this property but also my confidence in booking with Expedia or Expedia being able to vet the properties on their website. The rooms were dirty (stains on the walls, rusty fixtures). The property advertised amenities such as breakfast, laundry, and an exercise room - NONE of those were available to us during our stay. The pool had bees living by the skimmer. If the property had been presented honestly, it wouldn't have been as frustrating but it seemed very shady in general.
- 1/5
very disorganized and expensive for bad service and confusing my reservation
- 1/5
Sketchy guy stalking the rooms. I called police and no one came out. Not safe for single women and children. Sheets were so old that they had balls that could not be wiped away.
- 2/5
Old run down hotel that was dirty. Fitness center was closed and the breakfast area was closed. They did not offer to clean the room each night. Room was loud and warm. Would not stay there again. Oh and they also surprised us with a $15 parking charge.
- 1/5
I was there for only a few hours due to a flight cancellation. The room had a strong smell to cigarettes. During my check in I was ask to leave an additional deposit that has not been returned. Technically I’ve slept for 6 hours and left. I don’t understand why my deposit has not been refunded.
- 2/5
This place barely looks like the pics. It is really more like an poorly aged motel. The rooms are not modern. The carpet was very old. The shower never got very warm. The pool towels were stained and many of the lounge chairs were ripped and unusable. The pool was also very cold. The front office staff were friendly enough.
- 1/5
Sheets had blood stains pillowcases had a blood stains, dog hair everywhere one bed was full of sand under the sheets
- 3/5
The girl at the front desk was nice. The rooms smelled like mildew. Everything is very dated and the shower was rusty. Paper walls. The room was pretty clean.
- 2/5
Rooms were clean. Be careful when reserving with 3rd party, you may not get what you reserved. Call hotel for availability. Did not get what I had a confirmation for and including "Early check in". There were no rooms available when I arrived.
- 2/5
Not what pictures display.
- 4/5
Stay was ok. Rooms are a little outdated. It has a decent pool and hot tub but no night light for the area.
- 1/5
We booked a room with a king bed and 2 bunk beds, got to the hotel and they said they were sold out. The reason being it’s a holiday weekend. Offered us a room with 2 queen beds which won’t fit us (party of 5) and didn’t even apologize for their mistake.
- 1/5
I did like the upgrade from a queen bed to a king bed but that was only because the queen bed rooms were not ready. I also wanted to point out that there were Roches at least two of them were seen running from corner to corner of the bedroom. And after our shower me and my girlfriend started to feel irritation in our eyes and face and all we used was the soap and towels provided
- 2/5
The hotel was old and shower was leaking from the faucet and the room did not smell fresh
- 4/5
Nothing special, modern or unique about the hotel. But it was clean and beds were clean as well. Carpet, on the other hand, were very dirty. Clean beds and bathroom. Style of room and bathroom were an older style, flat bedding and dim lighting. Overall good stay for just needing a place to lay our heads at night.
- 3/5
Room was kind of run down. We found an old bag of someones soap in the shower - which made us wonder how well the room was cleaned. For the price, I doubt I'll go back.
- 3/5
Perfect location
- 4/5
Room was nice, really had to push the front door to get it to open. The up stairs neighbors were a little loud. Comfortable beds, kids loved the bunk beds. Did find a nice sized spider in the shower in the morning but no other bugs. Great hotel for the price.
- 1/5
The service was awful they didn't clean our room not even once during our stay and there was a humid smell in our room.
- 2/5
Well the room stunk, the bed had stains on the sheets. And the people above stomped all night long.
- 1/5
I payed for a non smoking room, and it smelled like a casino in my room
- 1/5
It was bad . Dirty room. Room smells like pee. Tv did not work. Bed was dirty. Would not stay again
- 2/5
Lights and water were unreliable and the furniture and air were musty and stale. Very cheap so if you dont plan on doing anything but sleeping it will do that job
- 3/5
It was ok
- 1/5
We arrived at the property extremely tired and stressed out after traveling with a newborn baby. I had to wait for 20 minutes to check in because the guy at the counter was having a long, slow, casual conversation with the guy checking in before me. He could see that I was waiting and they had a long ranging conversation on a variety of topics. Just let me check in and then you can talk all night for all I care.
- 2/5
The only thing good about this property is the staff, they were very nice, everything else was just wrong, from how dirty the room was (bugs, stained couch, mildew smell, barely hot water and no reception for the TV) to watching toddlers in diapers enjoying the spa. Would never stay here again.
- 1/5
Really dirty, noisy room, a broken water pipe in the bathroom and horrible staff service
- 2/5
Not good amenities
- 2/5
This is a very old maintained hotel. Room was non-smoking, but it definitely smelled like a smoking room.
