The property was nicer than I excepted. It was a great stay. Not to mention the cookies they give - delicious! The cafe inside the hotel is also nice and convenient. The only thing I will say is both my brother’s family and mine stayed at the hotel. We both received a $4 fee charged to our cards for “water” in the room. However, we did Not have any waters in our rooms. We brought our own. If you are to stay there, make sure they don’t charge you the $4. Aside from that, great stay. Oh! The parking is also $40 a night. I found that to be very pricey on top of what you’re already paying to stay at the hotel. Be mindful of that before staying.

The pool was a nice benefit Very very basic and dated. Expensive for what it is. On a highway so noisey by the pool, gym super basic and rooms veryyyy basic. $40 per day for parking on top of the already expensive stay. Was hoping for something more luxury for those prices.

I liked that the property was very clean. Did not like how I had to pay for both wifi and parking. Additionally breakfast was also paid for. I was promised a balcony but the balcony door was drilled shut so I could not use this feature that I payed extra for. The hot tub was tiny and the jets didn’t even work which I was really disappointed by.

The room didn’t smell fresh. It was musty when we walked in and as I was laying in bed, I can smell bad odors from the floor. The hotel looks and feels old and it needs a refresh. The cookies were not warm. I don’t think it was worth $390 a night to be honest.

This is one of our favorite places to stay when we visit our daughter as SDSU. It's fairly close to the campus, there is shopping and restaurants near the hotel, the trolley is right outside the hotel, the staff is always friendly, it's clean, and it's comfortable. The only downside is that there always seems to be a conference of some type and then the pool area is closed off or just completely crowded.

No free coffee in lobby so you have to buy a regular black Starbucks coffee from them for over 8 dollars! Or drive somewhere. No smart tv! Rooms need an update. Smart elevators but no smart tv. Parking is 40 bucks. Walls in room are very thin to say the least. I would never stay here again unless they update the place and offer more amenities.

Nice hotel to stay in. Parking is $40 per night. Or they tell you go park on the street where you can rarely find a spot and you’re exhausted from traveling. I understand parking cost a fee but $40 was way too much.

Room was decent, but needs an upgrade. Carpet looks stained, if not replaced, cleaned at least. No refrigerator or microwave in the room…apparently not all rooms come with that which is weird. Parking is $40 a day, breakfast at cafe was $15 for continental buffet and the ala carte was ridiculously expensive. Just grabbed Starbucks in lobby with muffin. Very close to trolley station and Fashion Valley mall.

I loved the resort ,the staff ,the room and cookies. The only issue we had is that we couldn’t enjoy the indoor pool to its full potential because there were having swim classes. I’m all for the swim classes but i dont think the classes should be given on a pool that its for our guest to enjoy to its full potential.

Overall it was a great experience. I believe his name was Brian, he checked us in and he was wonderful. Super helpful and friendly. We asked for a crib for our daughter. It was in the room super quick. The warm cookies were wonderful, my daughter enjoyed it. The only 2 things i would mention that could improve were the water pressure in the shower is super low. It took a while to fill up the tub for my daughter’s bath. And the second which is not really a big deal but the rail on one of the crib kept falling down. My daughter kept crawling out through there.

Parking is $40.00 a night. Parking across the street is free if there is spots available. The rooms were unclean, the linen was white but clearly full of dirt if you were to look through it at any light. The showers had thin walls and a constant source of noise when trying to sleep at night. They charged $40 a night for parking for very very cozy parking spaces, and held onto additional $100 per night per room for incidentals. They say you can ask for cookies , but they never seem to have them and they are always baking, unless you are checking in!

The hallways are run down and all the doors on our floor looked like someone had been stabbed randomly by something sharp with gouges/holes on the door. A few had been painted over but it wasn't done well. The heating and cooking system is really bad. If you set the temp to above 65 the heat kicked on even though the room temp was 69. So the only way to get air conditioning was to set it at 65 and freeze The water pressure in the shower was also really bad. We got in so late that I didn't have the energy to go down and wait and complain to the front desk, they were understaffed. We were just there overnight and left early. Overall this is a property is in bad need of repair and updating. The lobby looked nice but once you entered the hallways and rooms it was fast downhill.

The property was clean and comfortable, though it could use some minor maintenance like touch-up paint. It’s a bit outdated, but overall still a pleasant place to stay. Parking is expensive. I would stay here again.

I’ll give a 3.5/5: I stayed there for two nights, and overall it was a good experience. The indoor pool is 24 hrs, which was nice. The room is spacious, clean and the bed is comfortable. However, I was surprised by some of the additional charges: $40 USD per night for parking, a $100 USD deposit per night, and $2 USD per bottle of water in the room (no complimentary bottles are provided). There is free parking available outside, but it is at your own risk. I parked there without any issues. I also took an exam at the hotel, and they validated parking for non-guests but not for guests staying at the hotel, which I found unfair. I hope this information is helpful.

I scored a great deal financially, a nice suite on a weekend but was it Walmart I had expected? Stayed at the Doubletree branded hotel in SD. I’m a Hilton member but from arriving the staff made us feel less welcome for having used Hotels.com and scaring that deal. Thanks for being a member but you don’t get the water’s, you don’t received points, you don’t ……quite unwelcoming. Then the room. The hotels.com pictures were at best misrepresented the rooms. The room what’s named “exclusive suite [Murphy bed]. The pictures showed a large suite, with business conference room, kitchen, seating area with a Murphy bed down, nice bathroom, and a king bed in a bedroom. But sorry, that king bed wasn’t really our suite. I felt slighted. Definitely misrepresented what I had expected. Before settling in, I checked the Hilton app and eventually found the room. Same name, same pics, minus the king bed room. I double checked Hiteks.com. King bed present. Did I complain, no. From the reception we received, it was apparent that Hilton would not welcome the complaint and would point us to Hotels.com. The room shown didn’t exist so pointless complaining. And rationally speaking, we scored a great deal either way, cannot. Complain about what we got from a value for money but we were just let down by misoresented pictures. So I’m leaving my review here.

You're ad indicates that breakfast was included with the stay but it was not. We were charged $27 per person for a mediocre breakfast. If I had known it wasnt free with the hotel rate I would have gone to a restaurant and gotten my moneys worth. Having breakfast included is a criteria for me when choosing a hotel. Disappointed.

    1. Extra fee for everything: $40 parking per day. We had to paid for parking, even thought it wasn’t even located in a busy area. There are free parkings right across the street. Bottle waters are not complimentary. Unless you’re a Hilton hotel member. Wifi is not free. 2. Does not clean room daily: We were there for 4 nights and our room was only cleaned once! We’re not morning people so we put a “Do not disturb” tag on the door, but in my experience at other hotels, they would come back later and clean our room. 3. Always had to ask for towels: We used their pool twice and each time there were no towels! Not just the pool towels were an issue but we booked a double bed since there were 4 of us, but they only stock 3 towels. Asked for more towels but still only got 3! 4. Cafe in the hotel: Not sure what the operation hours are. We usually get down there from our room after 10:30am. First day it was opened, then next day it was closed. The next day we waited along with other guests then they finally came back at 11:20am. Overall I feel like it was nice hotel and we like the location as it was close to the Fashion mall and central to all the places we visited. They had a pool and hot-tub and my kids enjoyed the pool. Which is why I gave it a 3 stars. Maybe if they paid more attention to the little things,

The staff was kind and courteous , the rooms were clean, well and supplied with necessities. We received free cookies upon entry, the gym, indoor pool and jacuzzi were amazing. The only surprise that was quite significant and is not mentioned in the Expedia or hotel site description is that doubletree charges $40 for parking daily. That was a surprise! My children and I had to park outside on the limited parking. We circled and circled the area looking for parking until we found one about 1 block away. That was the only inconvenience.

From the moment I checked-in until I checked-out I received great service from the staff. 5⭐️ My issue is the quality of my room. I felt like I was staying in a MOTEL instead of a HOTEL. It was run down, old, and raggedy on the inside. OUTDATED OVERPRICED ROOMS! The tv remote was antiquated and only a few channels to watch tv on. The bedding was skimpy and they had very thin blankets. I didn’t mention the cost of the parking because most hotels are doing the same, I’m not going to single them out, it’s unfavorable but it’s become common practice. The hotel and its rooms are run down, old, and shabby to put it lightly. I want to reiterate, the staff was awesome ❤️ but the hotel itself was trash. I will not be returning, and I’ll proceed with caution when it comes to Doubletree hotels… the cookie 🍪 isn’t worth it to me.

The property as viewed online was nice looking but once we checked in the woman at the reception desk was very rude and unwelcoming. Once we got to our room we had noticed the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly as a used wash cloth had hardened. The bed itself was uncomfortable, sheets were scratchy, and the pillows had no cushion to them. The rooms air conditioning would only work when put on auto so the room was a bit stuffy. However the receptionist who worked the night shift with an older gentleman around 11pm was amazing ! She was very friendly and helpful with answering our questions. Overall would not recommend staying here for multiple days, one night was more than enough.

This hotel was in a convenient location to the airport and other San Diego attractions. We were glad that we used the parking garage, although we did not like the $40 per night rate. I would prefer $25 which I think is more reasonable, but there were cars that chose street parking that we saw with broken windows when we were leaving the hotel this morning so definitely park in the garage. The front desk was friendly and accommodating. Rugs in the hallways did not look like they had been vacuumed but the rooms themselves were clean and the beds very comfortable. we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel again because of the cost, we found an IHOP up the street. We would stay here again, though.

Stay was ok at best. I booked a high level room because I wanted some sort of view, instead what I got was a disgustingly spotty window with a tree obstructing any view, which was a view of the roof of a lower building and some exhaust fans anyway. There was no coffee because the espresso machine in the coffee shop in the lobby was down for both days of my stay so we had to walk (at least several blocks) to get anything. No breakfast and the restaurant in the lobby was useless as its menu and hours are extremely limited. I was also charged for 2 bottles of water even though I only opened 1 to use in the room for the sub par coffee maker. What really brought it home (though I would have rather have not) was the baby roach in the bathroom. I expected better from Hilton and for the price. Not coming back here again.

Budget friendly, clean, safe, great location with comfortable rooms. This has been our go-to hotel for san diego trips. There are many dining options around the hotel and the food in the hotel is great too. The "grab and go" pantry has great sandwich and munchie options. Staff very kind. Lobby inviting.

This wasn't my favorite hotel. I do love that it had an indoor pool but the jacuzzi bubbles didn't work. Also, the room had a musty smell to it. The covers felt damp. The toilet was extra loud and the handle wasn't working correctly. I noticed the roof in the shower was lumpy too.

Not even 2mins in the room and the AC vent pops off startling us. Sink didnt drain, and Shower gets flooded. Yes, I checked the clogger setting and both still had issues. I reported the issue and the “fix” was to just not move the clogger. It didnt drain once again. Shower drains extremely slow and floods very easily. The room was nice and all but the drainage issue and how it was handled, made me rate my experience a 3 star.

For the price we paid for this stay I would expect extremely clean rooms. There was a used towel in the room, few towels and over all looked like a dirty room. The stay for our puppy was no cake walk. We rented this go out to dinner and catch a concert. When checking in, they told us in highlighted lettering we couldn’t leave our crate trained dog in the room alone. So we altered our plans for dinner to bring our pup and then snuck out going down 10 flight of stairs to attend the concert. No way we were going to miss our concert. The hotel should have mention these terms in advance to decide if it’s the right stay. Not the day of. Overall I felt like we over paid. $40 for parking, $75 non refundable for the pup and $200 plus for the stay. Needless to say we felt like we WAY OVER PAID.

We had a comfortable stay at this Doubletree. The rooms were outdated and looked worn. There was water damage to the shelf that holds the minifridge and in the bathroom. The lounge chair in the room had stains and I didn't feel like the money we paid was worth the room. The housekeeping staff were nice, polite and attentive. The outdoor pool was nice and I appreciated the cabanas. The spa's jets seem to be out of order. However, the business side of Hilton was extremely disappointing. Due to an honest booking error, I was charged $340 for a reservation I never used (booked for the wrong weekend). I immediately rebooked for the correct dates and even extended my stay by a day — so Hilton actually made more money from me in the end. Despite this, corporate refused to issue a refund and ignored the opportunity to make it right. It’s frustrating to see corporate greed override common sense and customer care. The hotel experience was great — but the lack of accountability from Hilton’s management left a bad taste. Just know that if anything goes wrong with your booking, you may be on your own.

I’m writing this review just a few days after my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Mission Hills, and honestly, I can’t recommend it. If you’re looking for a decent hotel in the area, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There were multiple things that left me completely dissatisfied: • The pool area felt unsafe — people were actually fighting, and it got so bad that one person ended up unconscious. •The so-called “spa/jacuzzi” was dirty and completely uninviting. •The room temperature couldn’t be lowered below 68°F, and the windows don’t open at all — so forget about fresh air. •They charge $40 per night for parking, which is outrageous considering the price of the room. Yes, the staff was friendly — but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. Everything else about the hotel was far below expectations. We chose this location thinking it would meet a certain standard because of the Hilton brand, but we were seriously disappointed. Bottom line: the price is high, the quality is low, and I won’t be coming back.

Customer service was great from all staff members. However the room was not clean. There were stains on the furniture like the seating chairs, that we did not use or sit on. I purchased disposable sheets and pillow cases to cover where we slept and brought our own blankets. The toilet did not flush properly so if you didnt close the lid the water would come shooting back at you out of the toilet when you flushed it. The room felt moist and smelled kind of like a wet towel. There was alot of dust and stains on the curtains. When you turn the light on in the bathroom there was a slight burning of dust smell as we got ready for the day. The breakfast was overpriced but the servers were nice. They had a popcorn machine with free popcorn on one of our nights that the kiddos enjoyed. With the close proximity to the beach, shopping near by and the zoo, the kids were happy but for the cost of stay, just wish the rooms were more up to par.

We reserved two rooms: • One King Room for 4 nights • One Two Queen Room for 3 nights Upon arrival, I checked into both rooms. A few hours before my daughter and her boyfriend arrived, I inspected their assigned room (the two queens), and it smelled overwhelmingly of mold. I immediately requested a room change. The replacement room appeared freshly cleaned and heavily sprayed with a deodorizer, which seemed intended to mask another odor. Initially, the mold smell wasn’t as strong, so we decided to wait and see. However, by the time they arrived and settled in, the mold odor had intensified again. After returning from dinner that evening, it was clear the deodorizer had worn off, and the room smelled heavily of mold once more. We requested a second room change, but were told the hotel was fully booked and no accommodations were available. My daughter’s boyfriend had to work remotely the next day (Friday) from that moldy room, and he suffered from headaches all day. My daughter also woke up feeling congested, with burning eyes and clear symptoms of exposure to poor air quality. We continued asking for a room change throughout the day, but were told repeatedly there was nothing available—until nearly 4:00 PM, when they were finally offered a new room. Location was great- right next to several restaurants and shops. Love the signature cookies. Also the service was fast and exceptional. That said, I left behind an expensive pillow and a blow dryer that have since not been found, which is odd and surprising. In order to even request if they found the items, they required I use an outside source, which I don’t see as good customer service, as it was very impersonal. They never found the items and I’m disappointed that they would be taken. Otherwise the stay was fine.

Two people working the bar completely ignored my wife and I. When I asked for service they told me to wait until they were done talking to friends at the bar. Finally, the workers at the front desk were not knowledgeable. I could go on, but please don’t waste your money staying at this hotel.

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Diego – Mission Valley. Every time we returned to our room, it was uncomfortably hot—hotter than the temperature outside. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was told the rooms are “energy-saving,” which felt like a poor excuse rather than a solution. The issue was brushed off with no attempt to resolve it. To make matters worse, the balcony door was screwed shut, so there was no way to let in fresh air or cool the room down ourselves. This was incredibly frustrating, especially given how uncomfortable the heat was. Additionally, self-parking is $40 a night, which feels excessive considering the overall experience and lack of comfort. I expected much better from a Hilton property, both in terms of amenities and customer service. Sadly, this stay did not meet those expectations.
