The room was beautiful, plenty of room and clean. We had a view of the beach, which was a short walk from the hotel. We had a wonderful breakfast on the property, the breakfast burritos were outstanding. We came from the State of Washington to visit family - they made our trip amazing.

The pictures were 2 yrs old on the website and didn't look nothing like it is today, the place needed a new paint job, an old dresser all scratched up was the tv stand, no desk for your laptop, all the base boards need repainted. The table to eat on was a makeshift picnic table with metal chairs with no padding, speaking of metal the chairs on the patio were so rusted I wouldn't sit on them. I booked threw a 3rd party, so I didn't see in their website a 16 dollar parking fee that was the entrance and exit which wasn't so bad but you couldn't just back out and go, the spaces were angled in the wrong direction and the end was under construction and you barely had room to turn around, Motel 6 was in better shape plus costing 157 for the room I wouldn't of paid 70 for the room.

Location to dog beach is excellent. We stay there every year. No problems. This year our room did not have a screen sliding door to the patio. We were both shocked to see no screen door. Being that close to the ocean with no ocean breeze into the room was a big negative. My expectations are not that high but a screen door is pretty much a must. We may have to stay elsewhere if this issue is not fixed.

But, ugh, we got less than 3 hrs sleep thanks to dogs barking all night. The walls are very thin. Unless you can sleep through loud sustained barking, I'd recommend staying elsewhere. This noise rattled our dogs too. Staying here basically ruined our vacation, super disappointing.

When we arrived there was no one at the front desk or a sign saying ring bell, so that made us concerned. But someone came from the back and checked us in. When we walked in our room we were hit with scorching hot heat that we immediately had to keep the front door open, then open the back patio door and turn the AC on. So that wasn't a pleasant welcome. And the drain in the bathroom sink stunk like bad sewage even if u didn't run the water. But last is, I would suggest that the hotel would provide utensil packs along with the coffee packs that they provide in case guest bring food to there room.

I would recommend each lower patio have a small fence with a gate. We ended up not having our dog, but we could not escape the uncontrolled dogs out running all the time! They would not leave us alone! We have never experienced uncontrolled dogs like this before, but it’s been this way the last couple of times we’ve been (this last time, so much worse). One other thing I’d like to address is the parking, it is now a nightly rate above staying. They have their own lot, perfectly accommodating for all rooms as it always was, so why do they need to make more money on the crappy blacktop lot! If they are so concerned about beach goers parking there, stick with parking passes and actually tow ones without! It’s too bad they are the only hotel in that area that allow pets, which is the only reason we’ve always stayed here. We will be leaving our pet at home from now on so we can go stay at the other, nicer hotels at about the same rate as here.

The beds were comfortable and this is extremely close to the ocean. We could walk to the dog beach within 1-2 minutes. Location is easy to get to main restaurant strip in Ocean Beach as well. The towels were pretty threadbare and the bathroom seemed pretty old, but it was clean. Great for a reasonably priced place to stay near the ocean without additional frills.

While the hotel was very close to the dog beach that was the only positive factor. Our room was unclean with hair all over the “clean” sheets when I asked if someone can come remake the bed the front desk handed me a thin blanket and thin sheets saying there was no home keeping until tomorrow; very thankful I brought my own blankets! The room was also filled with bugs and spiders! I truly do not know when the last time that room was looked at! The floors were looked and felt dirty before we were even in the room. I will say the dog wash station was nice so we can wash our dogs paws after running at the beach.

If there is a next time, I would like to be on the top floor, so the one above me don't bother me with their obnoxious steps, and noises, the rule per the staff was that they could do all the noise they wanted until 10pm, and that I couldn't call the Police. uh? excuse me....Overall, everything worked. I can't complain about that. There is a nice path in the back where you can head out and walk along. too bad we weren't in the mood for that. I hope I get my deposit back in 3 days....

The room was clean but the lock on the sliding patio door did not work. I called the front desk and they had maintenance come and fix it immediately. The pool was great! The bedding, lack of room cleanliness, outdoor seating, staff was ok, lack of being able to have an extended check out. Anything more then an hour they will charge you an entire day. Check in at 4 is so late, they need to do some updating, our bathroom door was so warped and rotted it wouldn't close, new shower heads would be a cheap update, the bedding was GROSS, blue ugly comforter with bleach stains. Thank goodness I brought my own pillows, towels and blanket. The slider lock was faulty. The drapes were sheer. The toilet paper is terrible. The location is amazing

I have literally never written a review for a hotel, but do not stay here. I could see if they were charging $50 a night and open about being a dingy hotel, but no. First, this property is not on the beach. You need to walk down the street. Second, roaches in our room multiple days in a row. When I asked the front desk about it, they said "we will see if maintenance can spray tomorrow." The pool is incredibly small and smelled in a way that told me not to go into it. But the grossest part was the water in the room smelling like rotten eggs. I thought it was a whole San Diego problem, but when we inevitably moved hotels, that wasn't an issue at all. The whole place was so dirty and smelled awful.

I think charging extra each day to park a car is disingenuous. It doesnt incur any expense to the hotel whether a guest brings a car or not. The rooms should be priced as required, and guests shouldn't be surprised by unexpected fees. There was no blanket in the room, the beds having only a sheet and thin bedspread. It was chilly.

Our last stay was unlike any other. It was terrible. Our shower knobs did not work properly and the water was basically either scorching hot or cold. The bathroom smelled like cat litter and cat pee. The fan in the bedroom squeaked. Our sliding door did not have a screen so we had to keep our door closed. The people staying in the room above us stomped around in their room all night both nights I was there. I hate to write a bad review for a property I like. But these things should be addressed.

Of course, I have to mention a couple things I do not like. The first one is how the homeless live outside the hotel on the right side, and they can get loud at all times of the night. The hotel tries to get them removed, but just like our homeless problems in this country they move right back in days later. The second one is how out dated the hotel is and how terrible the towels are. Otherwise, good stay.

3rd time staying at ocean villa, and its probably one of my favorite places. Its a simple room with simple stuff but honestly in a beach town you really dont need anythime more. Its a quick walk to most convinces, and close enough to Newport Ave, that you rarely need to drive if your not leaving the area. Parking is limited but theres always a spot near the beach if you have more cars. Honestly one of my favorite places to stay if your looking for a lower price beach stay, even better if you have a furry 4 legged child.

I had a non pet room on 2nd floor. Room seemed clean except some towels were dingy, brownish color. Also room had 4 small shampoo bottles. No handsoap, no bath soaps, or conditioner. Bed felt lump but I slept comfortably. Furnitures definitely old. Fridge had rust on the outside and cabinets looked from the 70’s. I loved my view and location. Just walking distance from the ocean. There were homeless peopl around but never bothered me. Other guests dogs were quiet. No issues. Check in was fast. I was glad to see a free filtered water refill station on bottoms floor by stairs. My room had a patio which was clean and had a bistro table and chairs. I had 2 patio doors but no screens, so bugs could fly in. My room had a mini kitchen which was nice. No breakfast but there is a food truck parked in front but it’s pricey. Didn’t eat there. Looked good though. I enjoyed my stay. Would consider staying again. Also be aware parking is $15 a night. No issue for me since it’s pretty common. But was cheaper than other places.

I loved the proximity to the water and the Zoo, aquarium and airport are conveniently located. However, the motel itself does not have vending machines or soft drink machines on-site. I felt safe and there were shops and restaurants within walking distance, when they were open.

I enjoyed my stay but a few things could stand to be improved. For starters the door into the room has a gap at the bottom you could see light coming through. The bathroom was good but no iron and it smelled like a public bathroom so I closed the lid to the toilet and the room. The bed would have been great but the mattress didn’t match the box spring that it hanged over the side of one side. The USB charging port that was provided didn’t work so I was very glad that I actually took a charging port with me. The AC unit was a window unit and while cooling I woke up hot a few times a night. The best part was the view to the beach with my balcony and the ice machine. They had the good ice and I could fill up my tumbler with ice and water.

DO NOT STAY HERE! The photos on the website are deceiving! Don't fall for it like I did. On the way to the room there was a homeless person right outside our room who stopped when we opened our door. We went in and tried to lock the door but it didn’t work! The smell was the worst. The flooring was peeling. There was paint missing in multiple places and small holes all over. The grout in the bathroom on the floor was BLACK! The furniture was sticky and smelled. The ocean view was horrible. We were there for 15 minutes (long enough to find another place to stay) before leaving. They said we would have to get a refund from Expedia who in turn said the property wouldn’t refund us. I WILL NEVER USE EXPEDIA AGAIN.

Contrary to other reviews, our hotel staff wasn’t the nicest. He wasn’t rude per se, but just felt like he wasn’t happy to be there. The hotel curtain ride was half pulled out of the wall so you couldn’t really pull back the curtains, the nightstands (which were very pretty) equally were falling out of the wall. The couch had rips, the blankets and towels had strains, and overall the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The view was wonderful, the proximity to the beach was great, but overall pictures definitely looked better than in person. We paid additional for the suite, the size was nice, but that was it. Oh! And the coffee, one packet of creamer and one packet of sugar for three coffees, but we went to the desk to ask for more, and no one was there.

I booked this room for 2 nights. I was in town starting a new job. This room was filthy. I needed an outlet to plug my cellphone all outlets in the rooms didn't work. The tv was very large but only the bottom left corner of it worked on one channel. I moved the couch to find a plug it was filthy & had spiders and webs. The outlet behind the couch did not work. I tried to see if i could find one in the bedroom that didn't work. I tried to call the office with the phone in the room, someone had yanked all of the wires out. I walked down to the office in the pouring rain, the desk clerk came to the room & tried to fix tv, but it stayed the same. I asked for a wakeup call so i wouldn't be late on my 2nd day of work, she replied they don't get into the hotel until after 8AM. I didn't find an outlet to charge my phone and so i overslept and didn't get to work until 10 am and i needed to be there at 8am. This was such a crappy experience. I came so close to losing my job. I wasnt going to go back i was going to book somewhere else but by the time i got out of work it was almost 9pm so i figured i would finish out the stay as i was exhausted. Well the tv, phone and fridgerator did not cool. I left messages for the owner to call or come by my room and then i checked out. The owner finally called and offered $76 the when i checked there was less that $49

The hotel charges a $15 parking fee, so you would expect the area to be gated or at least more secure, but it isn’t. I usually travel solo with my son, and I personally wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone traveling alone with small kids. The incidental fee is $150. On the positive side, the room did have a coffee machine, microwave, and small fridge. The TV was nice, though not a smart TV. The beds were comfortable. It made absolutely no sense that you had to pay $15 a night for parking when it is not an enclosed lot or gated or anything. It’s basically just a motel that you pull the car up to the door. I was not traveling with a pet so I guess if you are someone who has to absolutely travel with your dog then maybe this is a good place to stay, but for $160 a night I could’ve stayed someplace a lot nicer where I could take a shower. The reason I was staying there was because my aunt flew in from Virginia for the national Pickleball tournaments and she wanted to be close to the Barnes tennis center.

This hotel is old, built in 1960. They keep it up for the most part. Employees are exceptional, always there to help. It's rated at 2 stars, which must not take into consideration the location. We used to stay down at a cove. Three times the cost, and had to load up the car and drive here. Now we hook the leashes on, literally walk around the corner and we're on the beach. This was our 7th time staying here, and next year will be our eighth.

However... the room itself was the worst room I've probably ever stayed in, it felt very dirty. We didn't even want to walk around the room or shower without shoes on. The water when ran smelt like eggs. The towels were so rough and literally felt like paper towels. The bathroom you could see dark scum along the tiles. Just felt very disgusting. I usually am not a harsh critic with hotels, and never leave bad reviews because not everything is going to be perfect but this is literally the worst room I've ever stayed in.

Its a cute little spot on the quiet end of Ocean Beach. I loved being close to the beach, just a little walk through a grassy area. A few blocks to walk from the main drag with all the food and shops, but still super close to everything. For the price, its the closest you will get to a popular beach. Food truck in the parking lot was great for breakfast and lunch. Super dog friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who isn't looking for a bougy resort feel - its definitely not that but I like that better anyways.

Very pet friendly. Hubby and i haved stay here with my kiddos but this time it was our anniversary so we decided to come alone. I think of how much they charge for the rooms they need a lil tlc.. extension cords throughout the whole room. Which i believe its a lil hazardous. There was half a roll of toilet paper had to ask for more we stayed for 2 night 3 days. Oh by the way u have to pay $15 a day for parking i think its ridiculous. I dont think i will be staying here again. I had given a 5 🌟 before i dont it was worth it this time.

The beds backboards were just leaning on the wall, not even attached to the bed. The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky. The 1st two staff members argued that they had put us in an ocean view room after I refused to pay another upgrade fee and telling them that I had reserved an ocean view room. Our view was a tall palm tree and trees outside the balcony. Also, you have to pay for parking separately. Overall our experience was very disappointing and dissatisfied. The only good thing is they have a mini friedge and microwave. There's a lot of dark areas at night around the beach area and homeless behind the property by the balconies throughout the day and night.

After a cancelled flight to where we weren't going to make it to California for the night, I called Ocean Villa Inn, and they said that it was up to hotels.com to decide whether to refund. I spoke with hotels.com and they were great and were willing to refund on their end, but they had to get approval from Ocean Villa Inn who then refused. I absolutely understand policies, but I am very frustrated that they passed the buck to hotels.com and so I was excited to find out we would get a refund, only to find out that Ocean Villa Inn didn't actually mean what they said, and they would refuse on their end. They have a phone number to text (they had texted from leading up to the stay and saying to text with any concerns) that I tried to reach out to before this review with no response. Even if there had been a simple "we're sorry" response, I would not be leaving the review.

This hotel is very rundown. The pictures are deceiving. It looks cute from the outside with the mid-century paint job and Airstream food truck, but that’s where the updates stop. The best part of this hotel is its location walking distance to the beach, including the dog beach. I did not stay with a pet, but I can see how this would be a good place to stay if you are bringing your dog with you. I had a room on the second floor with two queens. The beds are so old and uncomfortable. The pillows are old and lumpy and though the blankets on top looked clean based on the rest of the hotel room it’s hard to know if they get washed regularly. The bathroom was a nice size. However, the fixtures are very old. There were holes in the tile by the shower. The coating on the shower floor was peeling and it was also just a single stall shower with a shower curtain that did not look very clean the towels are old and have stains, and lack any kind of softness. I hate to give negative reviews to businesses, however, I feel like you should know what you’re getting into. If you plan to stay here I came for a festival and the location was good. However, there were other cheaper options nearby at chain hotels which probably would have been nicer. The hotel staff in the lobby were pleasant and welcoming, which was nice and the pool looked like it had been taken care of. Also know that they will charge you for parking but it looks like there is possible free street parking around the area.

When we first arrived the dog area had poop everywhere. I also ended up stepping in poop all over my nice shoes because there is no lights on the dog area. I decided to just take care of it myself so went out and cleaned it all up. The shower has a large crack in the basin making it feel unsafe it sinks in when you step on it. The sink drain stinks so bad every time I brush my teeth makes me gag. The ac only blows air and is covered in rust and falling apart. The light on my porch did not work. My dog ate a joint that was left on the wall in the dog area resulting in a 501$ emergency vet bill. I couldn’t see it because my light didn’t work on our porch until the next day after he was very sick. The beds are really uncomfortable but I knew this already from a previous visit and brought a mattress topper. I also used my own towels because they looked really dingy. The good is the food truck, the location can’t be beat, the dog wash, and the pool. The employees were kind and helpful in locating towels to wash my dogs. They also offered a late check out. Despite all the bad things I would still probably stay again if the price was not getting higher every year. The location and dog amenities are unbeatable. I wish they would just do a little upgrading like with towels or bedding. Or at least clean the property grounds to make the cost justifiable.

It’s good for what you’re getting. The beach is right there. It’s clean. The pool was heated which was nice. I’d say my only complaint is the fact the beds don’t really have comforters. They were more just thin blankets which aren’t very warm or comforting. But overall, I’d stay again.

Overall, fine for one night. Very dated - holes and significant wear in the flooring, bathroom tile and shower area. Towels are like sand paper and must be 100 years old - time to replace! Tap water smelled like farts - pipes must be really gross. A bit ridiculous to charge for parking in an area with free street parking. A fight in the morning brought police and fire trucks, so that's the type of clientele you're staying with here. Again, fine for a quick night, nothing more. AC worked great so that's a plus.

It’s very much a “we’re here for the beach, hold our stuff, we have a pet” - so it’s not super fancy. The beds are comfortable. The shower is good. The TV is fine. The walking to the beaches is premium. You see them from the window. No microwave, but a kicking fridge! It’s on the edge of town, just a neighborhood place. OB (Ocean Beach) is a very laid back, stuck slightly in the 70s with pride, surfer town full of mellow folk and a few harmless beach/street types. Dog Beach (behind this hotel) is FULL OF DOGS!!! Dogs and ocean and dogs and sand and dogs and fetch and dogs and dog joy!!! So awesome. So good. Happy dogs! Got kids, dogs, and aren’t overly fussy? Go here - nice place, good stay, balance of price and comfort. PS - there’s an airliner diner truck breakfast place that has great food, but one breakfast sandwich will EASILY feed two adults, don’t over-order. Good food!

Staff response "will waive parking charge" 4. Only one roll of toilet paper for 3 days, bought my own, staff never answers 5. As it is pretty friendly the back patio has an open area the length of the hotel for dogs to go on... People never picked up their poop 6. House keeping said the large bottle marked lotion was actually conditioner... Yet it was actually lotion For $300+ a night I could have stayed at a motel six. Save your money and go to an inn

Our room was cramped The screen to the dog area was torn so my dogs could get out if I didn’t close the sliding door. The front desk didn’t inform us if we had dogs we had to request the room be cleaned. We went and asked the second day and was nicely informed we would have had to request it. They did promptly replace towels for us. The building is full of mold and it is eating the walls outside. I’ve stayed here many times and this time it’s really showing a lack of upkeep. The dog wash area used to have a nice shampoo dispenser and it was broke and the top was gone. The shampoo seemed to be full of water. And most days the towels were not refilled. The new rule to ask for room cleaning was not conveyed. The room towels were very old and very used There is a new place to get breakfast and lunch on the property and that was convenient. The location can’t be beat if you come to take dogs to the beach ! I would stay again to give it one more try and hope they get back to being better and have basics taken care of.

Staff and little restaurant were friendly and professional but the accommodations are quaint (as in 1950ish). Walking path is nearby. Location is great and it is pet friendly which I didn’t bring a pet and had flea bites. Ocean view is sparse and distant. Still, I don’t want to give a poor review, but these are things to know.

This Is truly one of the worst stays I've had. Their rating is too high on this site. Front desk is nice and it looks like the cleaning people are doing their jobs to the best of their ability. Don't let the photos fool you the location is a dump and the water that comes out of their sinks smells like literal sewage. The shower curtains have stains and bites in them. The comforters are bleached from who knows what stains. The balcony of the room we were in (second floor) wouldn't lock at all which is totally unsafe with a family for young kids. Property states that it's non smoking but saw people openly smoking pot next to the rooms as we were parking twice. Also our room smelled like pot so I think people were smoking inside. To top it off, in the morning as we were leaving to seaworld we got a noise complaint from downstairs . So ghetto. It was 8:30am . Of course you're going to hear us leaving our room as we are gathering our belongings. It's not our problem if you are asleep at that time and we are literally just walking around . Didn't like that at all. They're the ones who placed us above people when their property has thin walls . I would never stay here again. Didn't even check out the beach cause there was a homeless encampment outside our room.

“Our stay at Ocean Villa in Ocean Beach was disappointing — the room was outdated and in disrepair, amenities like the hair dryer didn’t work, and the property clearly needs remodeling; to add to that, we were charged for parking plus sales tax, making the overall experience not worth the cost.”

Most of the times I tried to get assistance at the front desk, it was either empty or inaccesible from inside the building. I also tried doing laundry but they didn’t have any detergent. Overall the room was okay, just a little old and dark. Towels also didn’t seem super clean.

Hotel is very good, old and little outdated, a little renovation and beautification would do wonders. Towels on room were very low quantities and very poor quality. Some lamps were missing bulbs. The did accommodate a late check out, from.11 am till noon but weh I asked front desk for extra 10 minutes after noon the reception said they couldnt and i asked if there was a fee i could pay for extra time and was informed $150. I understand hotel policies butvit would be nice if they had an option to charge a fee $20 for an extra hour. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. The bedroom was very dirt. I dont think they clean the flooors. But overall is amazing and will go back soon. And i think you pay for the location more then the amenities.

I really like that you can park your car at Ocean Villa Inn and walk through the gate to Dog Beach. You have to use your room key to get back into the parking lot. They have a food option in the parking lot, but a coffee and breakfast burrito was $30 for one person. The location and views are fantastic, the facility could use some TLC.

Fantastic location and easy parking. It’s literally oceanfront. New renovations are modern and stylish. Still missing few things, like towel hooks in the bathroom. Seems like a very good place to stay if you have a dog. Pool area was cute but closed for maintenance. They had laundry on site and a cute breakfast and lunch spot in an airstream. Loved the landscaping with native plants and cacti. Fun colors and aesthetic. The only thing that we would change is the fact that the place is not soundproof at all so we heard lots of other people’s sounds and dog sounds. It was quiet overnight though.

I tried telling the front desk and all they said was that we prepaid and they literally did nothing. Our neighbor had their TV on until 11:45. It wasn’t super loud, it was just on and you could hear them talking. Both beds had hair in them. The sink didn’t drain. You can’t regulate hot and cold in the shower. It was AWFUL!!

Arrived before the check-in time and was told we would be called when the room was ready. Never received a call. When we came back after the check-in time, we had to wait for the front desk to confirm the room was ready. Entering the room, we were overwhelmed with the scent of a cleaning solution. The bathroom towels were small, more like hand towels. They were finally replaced on the second day. There are minimal amenities in the rooms. There was dirt and dust hanging from the exhaust fans near the bathroom. The flooring in the room was cracked and separating in numerous places. There was trash on the ground around the property. The only positive was the location near Ocean Beach. If you own a dog, this is the place for you. We would not stay here again.

Man screaming in the room below and in the parking lot over and over all night. When other patrons opened doors to confront, he was screaming ‘I know your room number now, you stupid f***.” Police were called. Officers patrolled through and he came back again at 6 am, entered the room below me, and worse than ever. Now punching walls and throwing things while screaming about thieves and bedbugs. Packed to leave earlier, but since police came for a bit and now was terrified to walk past him. Checked out when it was quiet later, mentioned that disturbances to the clerk and he said “well, I wasn’t here” and introduced a parking fee. The ONLY reason this has not been an Official complaint and charge back is because the morning clerk waived that parking. Also: Started out with Lobby locked and empty at 4 pm. For check in. Watched another couple knock and call out at the lobby door as wel- while standing in the rain. Returned later and checked in, and the first clerk said “I was just in the back“, as if we hadn’t knocked loud enough on the locked lobby door. No sleep. Cannot recommend.

Worst Hotel. Do not stay here unless you enjoy jackhammers running first thing in the morning, rude staff, and poor accommodations. This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Great location, but amenities are poor. It's great they have dog friendly rooms with a "porch" that opens to a dog run, but half the doors have no screens on them so you can't have fresh air and keep other people's dogs out of your room. Our toilet wouldn't flush and when the mgr brought us a plunger, I asked if we were supposed to have a screen and he told me "NO", even though 1/2 the doors DID have screens. The internet was awful, the TV signal kept lagging, buffering and finally failing. Again, great location and close to the beach, restaurants and bars, but lacking amenities if you are going to be in the room for more than 1 night.

The bedroom lacks a desk for work, and the hotel has many leisure guests. Those leisure travelers stay awake until late and make a lot of noise, amplified by the razor-thin walls. The floor also creaks, making the whole thing worse. The front desk also does not know how to treat business travelers, being quite rude and absolutely not helpful. The front desk here is one of the worst I have found on my several travels for work. On the bright side, the property is located very close to the beach and has a nice view if you are on the second floor. The room is spacious and clean (even though it was not cleaned every day). The bedroom and pillows are comfortable despite being quite soft. This would be fine if you are not bothered by noise and want access to the beach. If not, it is better to look for another option.

We had the most terrible experience. We checked with the front desk if there is a cut off time with checkin and they ensured that they are open 24hrs. We called specifically to check this since we had a long drive and wanted to make sure we won’t miss the check in window. The website and booking only mentioned 4pm as check in time and there was no end time. We reached the property at 12am and couldn’t find anyone in the lobby. We knocked several times, called the front desk, walked all around the property to check if there was anyone around to let us in. We tried contacting customer care, were put on hold, finally got in touch with an agent who tried to contact the property too and nobody responded. We spent an hr in the cold hoping and waiting someone will respond while we had a child with us crying. We desperately went to a different hotel for double the price. After all this, Ocean villa front desk responded rudely saying he went for a “short break” and claimed to have returned soon and waived at our car. We have pictures with a timestamp showing the empty lobby. There was no board even saying that the receptionist went on a break and will be back soon. Why would we voluntarily waste our money and go through this ordeal? Expedia agent I spoke to (Sachin K) blamed us too saying we should have checked in at sharp 4pm in spite of me clearly telling him that we called and confirmed with the hotel that there was no cut-off time to check in. He inconsiderately ended our chat

I stay at this property every time I come to San Diego if they have a room available. Love it here, especially since the dog beach is right outback. The rooms are spacious and I always feel comfortable here.

Our stay here came to a very close end when my 5 year old got into bed and immediately said “mommy something is biting me” when we turned the light on he had small clusters of raised bites on his arms. I immediately called the front desk and told him what happened and the front desk without hesitation said “ well I can give you a refund” so in a panic and late at night we had to find another hotel and move our little kids. The next day I called hotels.com and told them what happened and they told me that the hotel would not refund us and did not agree with what we said! I have proof and pictures. This hotels management is not truthful and the service is horrible. The shower had ants in it also.

Loved staying here! Loved that they can communicate through text! Super convenient and great comm. Puppies loved staying here and loved the puppy area and finding friends. The only thing that sucked is you can only have one car in the parking lot. Parking around wasn’t easy to find during the day. But other than that the stay was absolutely amazing! The room was huge and very clean.
