Reviews
The Dana at Mission Bay is a beautiful property with friendly staff and convenient location. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, heated pools, and proximity to Sea World and the beach. However, some guests have complained about the noise, parking fees, and outdated rooms.
- Beautiful property with heated pools
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Noise from nearby highway and other guests
- Parking fees and hidden charges

Very happy with our experience and stay
- 5/5
The property is a little bit older but we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a Bayview Junior suite and that was plenty of room for our family of 4. The pools were clean and towels were provided. Additionally, it was easy to access from the highway or beaches.
- 5/5
The room was nice
- 5/5
My kids loved movie night at the pool. The rooms are big and very clean, the beds are comfy. Only drawback that I wasn’t expecting was $35/night for parking. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location in Mission Bay. The Firefly resturand was very good and the staff was helpful.

The location It’s almost like a motel type. Walking the corridors are so loud that it’s hard to get some sleep.
- 1.5/5
Bar staff was very pleasant and service was great. The location is noisy. Too much road noise and the property is surrounded by public park with people blaring their music all day and night. People around the property smoking weed. Elevator smelled like weed every time we got into it.
- 5/5
Loved both pools on the property. Staff was friendly and attentive. Firefly had great food and drinks. We will be back

Everything about our stay was great! We will definately return. The staff is super friendly and helpful! The location is beautiful, we had a junior suite with an amazing view! Loved it, our favorite place to stay!!

Great Facility, two pools, breakfast staff awesome, poolside movies, can see Sea World Drone show, great wedding venue, beautiful view of the bay....
- 5/5
Great property all around. Close to so many places. Very relaxing and pretty views.
- 3/5
The facilities and amenities were very good. However, the mattresses in my room were so soft, I assume that they were very old. I woke up each morning with back pain. Also, the selection of food at the restaurant was not very good. I was hoping for a variety of local cuisine, but there were only a few options. I tried submitting this review on their website, but there was no submit button after completing it. I wonder if that was because I was not leaving a perfect review.
- 4/5
Way too much for a nightly parking fee for a guest.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, very helpful staff, great location
- 5/5
Nice pool area for a family vacation.
- 5/5
Loved the pool and beautiful location. It is located close to many San Diego attractions and beaches. We had a very quiet room. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Found a roach in our room by the middle table. Called the front desk and sent someone to spray the walls and said call me if you see it again since the roach came out when we turned on the lights and went and hid behind the middle table. We were unable to sleep comfortably thinking the roach was going to crawl up the or even worse in our luggage. Slept with the lights on. I wish they could have at least moved us to another room. There were spider webs in the corner of the walls by the ac, will not be staying here anymore

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s right on the bay. You can leave your room and walk along the water. The property has a very tropical feel to it. Lots of green grass and beautiful lush trees everywhere. The main pool is great. Has a huge decently warmer pool and nice sized hot tub. Towels available at the pool too. Check in is always easy and quick. I have noticed over the last few years that the rooms haven’t been updated much and they could use it just a little bit. It’s still very nice but could use a pick me up. Also, the quality of the food at the onsite restaurant could use a refresh. Other than that, I love this place and will be back again. Nice staff. Great location. Big property.
- 2/5
Location. I had problems with pests in my room; I reported it, but I didn't receive a concrete response. The reception staff is a bit rude.

- 5/5
Renovated. The amenities are nice. The grounds are beautiful and the pools are heated and just great. They have family and kid friendly events too over the summer. We had breakfast at the Firefly, on grounds and it was very good! We received welcome drinks too. I would definitely stay there again soon.

I loved the location There were bugs in my room

The staff was very tentative. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pool was amazing. The restaurant was excellent and Manny was very tentative and awesome. We will be back next year . The view from our room was breathtaking.

Visit every couple of months. Outstanding service and atmosphere!
- 3/5
It was a nice hotel. The only thing I didn’t like was that images on the hotels app made the hotel look 10 times better.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing!!!
- 1/5
Our room was right next to the staff supply room (many rooms are near these supply rooms) which means we heard banging, doors slamming, power washers and other loud machinery throughout the day. The adjoining wall with the staff supply room had loud banging audible until 11pm. My husband works from home, and the room service opened the door and tried to enter without knocking/ knocked as they were entering. Very disrespectful. They also added at 22$ per night “resort fee” which was not listed in any of the original costs.
- 1/5
Cons: no sleep! Constant noise all through the night. Room stunk and It smelled of mildew. It’s like a swooped up motel 6. Ants and a cricket in the room. Coffee at 530am wasn’t good., Not worth the price at all Or all their additional charges for parking & resort fees. Definitely regret staying here
- 4/5
Room was clean. Had a corner room so had a little garden and water view. Enjoyed the resort for one night
- 4/5
On the other side, it was very convenient to Sea World and major roads. Our favorite Whale watching tour was right across the street (San Diego Whale Watch) and Charlie’s restaurant across the street was amazing. Hotel Restaurant staff were great and food was good. Grounds are beautiful and appreciated the laundry on site. Rooms were well maintained and very clean.

Super Nice - felt exclusive- private retreat - in the most convenient location- food was excellent - staff was exceptional - and I mean - all of the staff we encountered - very clean - and made you feel relaxed and refreshed Not one thing - all was perfect

Great place to stay!! From meeting Amanda at front desk to housekeeping staff they are all great and helpful people. The room was comfortable, did have a strange smell but tolerable. The bathroom big and clean. Large patio with great views, one lounge chair was broken. Overall definitely worth the money to stay here.
- 5/5
Outdoor pools/hot tubs were very well maintained. Staff kept the room very Clean. Beds were 6/10. Lots of greenery, palm trees and plants on the property- gave it a very exotic vibe. Was overall a great place to stay and we’d totally stay again!!!

We liked the safety and cleanliness of this facility at night we enjoyed the hot tub while watching the outdoor movie. We loved the area we took walks in the evenings while thwre and we enjoyed that the beach was so close.
- 3/5
Our room was way in the back corner, and it was noisy, it sounded like a water pump and this went on all day and night, there was also was a restroom trailer parked in the parking lot right front of our room ( I think they use it for events) my husband took off his shoes to go to the bathroom and his socks got dirty, I don’t think we’ll go back
- 5/5
Everything was very convenient and the breakfast was delicious.

Very helpful staff. Great proximity to everything. Very clean property. Great food. Excellent!!
- 5/5
Very nice location and property.

Clean resort. Great staff.
- 4/5
Overall, a nice stay. Close to the marina where we were sailing out of.
- 4/5
Early check in
- 4/5
Over all the hotel is very nice and relaxing. The hotel restaurant could use some work on the menu and bring back more of the seafood options such as ceviche, shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, and even the scallop dish. Work on a better burrito dish too. The rooms are nice clean and comfy. Had a Jr suite which was very nice but maybe don’t get the park view. Nice park and bay view but also a homeless view. I realize that’s out of the hotels hands and it’s a park problem. Tiki bar drinks are a must poolside highly recommended. Will I keep staying here at the end of the day? Yes because the pros heavily out weigh the cons.
- 5/5
As beach and nice spot on the marina. Paul the bartender at the pool bar was top notch! Lanai room was just great for our family get away.
- 4/5
Never had breakfast
- 3/5
Pool area was nice but for the money for a junior suite felt could of got a better value else where

Housekeeping was wonderful. The staff was extremely helpful and very prompt with any request. The pool area and jacuzzi were very clean. The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and the service was wonderful.

Firefly dinner was great! Loved the lobster mac & cheese and calamari! Salmon and coconut rice was very tasteful! I loved the hospitality and everyone there was very friendly! I loved this resort!
- 5/5
Within a mile walk to the beach/Boardwalk. It was always able to grab a chair by the pool. Pretty standard hotel room. Took advantage of the discounted water adventures! Found on Expedia and would recommend.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 5/5
The room was very quiet and comfortable. The staff was excellent and friendly. We didn't use the pool, because it was cold. The breakfasts were very good, although they seemed expensive compared of going off site.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at The Dana. The property is beautiful and my kid loved riding her tricycle along the boardwalk. The pools were nicely heated, warm but not gross warm. The pools next to the restaurant has an 2.5 foot depth at one end so my little ones could stand and swim around. Great time.
- 5/5
Our stay was excellent!!! After spending the day on the beach it was nice coming into a clean fresh room every day. Winding down the evening with a quick soak in the hot tub was fabulous. Cant wait until next year!!!
- 3/5
Hidden fees for resort and parking that we didn't know about until after check out. Each day
- 4/5
The pool was not heated
- 5/5
This is my favorite hotel in san diego! I love the Dana its my 2nd time here and it will be the only hotel i book. The property is so Beautiful right on Misson Bay. I also had the best room i get the bayview junior suite and the guy at the front desk was so accommodating he gave me the the 2nd floor and we had the best view of the bay. Everyone is so nice and welcoming! The room is super clean and so is the property! I honestly never want to leave when i go hear its so sad till next time ❤️ Thank you for having us!!
- 5/5
Location was amazing just minutes away from SeaWorld and the Beach. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The property was well maintained
- 5/5
Quiet, clean, beautifull grounds
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Dana a few times and we are gonna be booking in the future. We love this place
- 5/5
It was my boyfriends birthday weekend and we had a really great time. Love being spoiled in nice comfy beds and pillows. I nice cool breeze coming in through the windows over looking the pool. Super relaxing getaway. Plus so chill to take a long nap and enjoy the ocean air!!!!
- 2/5
Wrong! It was not as nice as advertised from introduction of the process by the most unengaging receptionist not giving any reason to be excited. Offered an upgrade right off should have been a big hint of the room expectations Sad to say I have not found that place yet that is not a chain...back to the upscale they are really upscale or at least honest about the low rate experience
- 5/5
Enjoyed our quick stay at the Dana. Had everything we needed. The location was great
- 4/5
The property itself is definitely a bit nostalgic – very much in the style of the 60s beach family vacation vibe, which can feel a little bit dated or charming, depending on your view. It’s a really beautiful spot and there are two pool areas as well as a walking path along the bay. Room was nice, clean, and comfortable. Would definitely recommend. The only downside is that you really do need to get in your car to go exploring, but it’s pretty centrally located with easy drive to Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, and the airport or downtown. But if you’re looking to be in an area where you can walk to shops, cafés, restaurants that’s not what this offers. But very relaxing to sit by the pool and there is a restaurant on site.
- 4/5
It was a nice stay
- 5/5
The Dana is always our favorite place to visit!
- 5/5
A really nice area to relax and hang around.
- 5/5
Great time of year to have the fire pit table keeping us warm while enjoying our night cap
- 5/5
Hidden gem! Great pool!
- 4/5
Nice place, great location but for $300 a night I was surprised there was a charge for $35 per night for parking.
- 5/5
One of our favorite spots. Roomy suites. Great water views. Walking paths. Close to restaurants and bars.
- 5/5
Great location. 1 mile from Belmont park and mission beach. Hotel was clean and staff was kind
- 3/5
Everything was very nice. Water pressure was severely lacking. Made taking a shower feel like a poor experience. Could use an update.
- 5/5
Clean room, beautiful premises, dreamy pool, excellent staff and food options at Firefly restaurant. Will definitely stay here again! Family friendly and elevated for ultimate resort vacation vibes.
- 4/5
Got off a cruise ship that morning so knew that our room would probably not be ready. Front desk staff said if there was one ready it would be subject to a $75 early check in fee so we decided to just stash our luggage and wait until later. Shuttle took us to spend the day at Sea World. When we returned our room was ready but it was incredibly hot and stuffy - musty odors - definitely an older property and no elevator so hauled suitcase up the stairs. Nice enough property in a great location but we had no time to enjoy any of the “amenities “ supposedly included in resort fee so can’t speak to that. The only window coverings were plantation type shutters which were horrible at keeping the light out. Beds and pillows pretty comfy but truthfully I had a much better (and less expensive) stay at the San Diego hotel we stayed at prior to the cruise.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 4/5
We stayed in a room with 2 queens; the spacing was tight. The faucet and handle in the tub/shower was loose and the shower head was almost too high for a 5'6" person to reach. Our room, on the 2nd level, had a view over the parking lot, of the marina. The staff was friendly. The food and drink prices have been inflated. There is a happy hour, but it doesn't apply at the small pool.
- 4/5
Pool was always clean
- 5/5
Spectacular bay view from our balcony! Restaurant was awesome! Completely delightful!
- 4/5
??
- 5/5
Great restaurant on the premises - room was nice and clean - staff friendly.
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
Great staff; lots of amenities. Typical rooms with older faucets in bathtub. Wish they had a parking spot for events away from guest rooms. Overall, great experience.
- 2/5
I did have several issues with this place though: 1) I paid extra for a room with a view, however, the way this hotel is set up, there are no interior hallways. There is an exterior walkway along the front side of the room, that's where you enter. The view is also on the front side of the room. So basically, you have people walking in front of your room all the time. So, you have to choose between having privacy and closing your blinds, or having a view. I prefer privacy, so I basically had no view. 2) The sinks and mirror are open to the room. Meaning, if someone is getting ready, doing makeup, hair, etc. and they want privacy or the other person wants to sleep, there's no way to shut the door. It looks like there maybe used to be a door separating it from the room, but they have been removed. We ended up having to hang robes from the door frame to make a makeshift curtain. 3) The AC is located in the area where the sinks are and does not do a great job cooling the room unless you have it turned all the way up. This is also conflicts with problem number 2 because you'll freeze if you have to stand directly in front of it for a while when you're getting ready, so you end up having to turn it off, making the person in the room have to deal with the heat.
- 5/5
Beautiful property with amazing views of the bay. Exceptional staff through. Was upgraded from jr suite to a full suite upon arrival and it was amazing room - spacious, clean, comfy bed, great balcony. Room service was great and quick and breakfast poolside was excellent. Fabulous stay!
- 5/5
Room was clean and pleasant. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom very dated. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Restaurant on property was very good with a good variety of food and drinks.
- 4/5
Everything was nice. The room was nice with a great view. Two things that irritated me. The mandatory self parking fee that was only disclosed at checkout and another guest repeatedly in the parking lot smoking marijuana. I understand it’s legal, personally the smell makes me immediately sick.
- 3/5
The place is old, the rooms smelled musty, resort fees plus $35 a night for parking
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Had a great time at The Dana while visiting San Diego. The staff was great and the property was well kept.
- 5/5
It is a beautiful place to stay.
- 5/5
We had a family gathering with 6 adults and 3 small children. The hotel staff accommodated all our needs especially at mealtime. It was a perfect place to celebrate a family birthday and we are so grateful for the hospitality and beautiful surroundings!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be coming back. We felt safe and everyone was very friendly.
- 4/5
Rooms are more dated than appears on the website. No place to sit in the room other than the bed. So room service was out of the question. Firefly restaurant was nice and their waitstaff was also excellent.
- 5/5
The room smelled a bit but overall it was great place to stay.
- 3/5
The staff were nice and we liked the amenities, but there were quite a few bugs in our room, and the carpet felt dirty.
- 5/5
Out pool has so beautiful view. Great room service
- 5/5
We had the best time at the pool with the kids
- 5/5
The Dana was wonderful. The location was terrific. Both pools were very nice. They let us borrow chairs and an umbrella for the beach. And we were given free drink tickets and a deal on parking. Loved that there was space to walk around and explore. Would love to come back again!!
- 5/5
Great hotel very close to Sea Workd
- 3/5
It's a motel that charges resort and parking fees. Echoing others' comments about a mildewy room smell, we had bugs in our room. However, the beds were comfortable and the location is easy to get to Mission Beach, downtown, or La Jolla attractions.
- 5/5
My wife and I are locals just looking to have nice stay near Mission Bay for the weekend and we're glad we chose this place! We had a wonderful king suite looking west at the bay. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant and bar have a delicious diverse menu with good prices. Loved the closeness to the freeway, the park bay and the beach. We will be back again!
- 4/5
Very clean, good location
- 4/5
Overall it was nice. It was clean and restaurant food was really good and service was great!
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay at The Dana! Amenities were fantastic. Two pools with hot tubs made our evenings fun and relaxing. Convenient location made Ubering cheap and easy. The food was great, and the service from all staff was excellent. They went above and beyond!
- 2/5
It looks like an older property. My room was worn and not the cleanest. I’m from the south, so I’m use to southern hospitality. The staff was not rude but they also were not warm and hospitable.
- 5/5
Everything was good, our only complaint want cleaning staff turning ACs off while out of the room.
- 5/5
We only come here we love the Dana.
- 5/5
This property fit our needs perfectly. Nice room great views. The restaurant was great. Staff was wonderful. It was a wonderful stay.
- 5/5
My family and I had a great time, friendly staff
- 5/5
This property is beautiful. I love the walking trail by the water. The view is very relaxing and I'll definitely be returning.
- 5/5
Loved staying here! Waking up to the view of the marina was breathtaking! Loved how close it was to Sea World and Mission beach. The hotel shuttles came in handy for transportation. The grounds were neat and well kept. Staff is very nice. Checkin was quick and smooth. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Love the hotel. Everything is beautiful. The location can’t be beat
- 4/5
The staff was solid but definitely depended on whom I talked to. There were some that were very helpful and went out of their way to assist and a few others that were not very helpful when something was needed or we had a question.
- 4/5
Super friendly staff. Thank you all for being so kind! Room was clean. The pools were really nice, though I think the heater wasn’t working in the small one for the first night as it was very cold. Personally loved that they did the movie at the pool nightly, though I could see how this could be disturbing to some. I wish there was continental breakfast, it’s just a nice option for staying places, though they had a restaurant you could order from. We never ate there as there were other options close by. The beds could be a lil more comfy but that’s just my preference. Property was beautiful and would stay again.
- 3/5
The pool and hot tub were great but I think closing at 10 is unfortunate. I also wish they had adult only hours for the pool, but no biggie. Aside from the blonde lady at the front desk, and the bald bartender at Firefly, all of the staff had pretty poor attitudes which put a damper on our trip because we were here for a birthday .. I have stayed here and Paradise Point and would not stay here again, I would choose the latter. However, the rooms were really nice and I loved the amenities that came with it. Good food and strong drinks. For the price point, it was fine, but next time I will shell out the extra few $$$ to stay down the street at Paradise.
- 5/5
The scenery was very nice, the kids loved the pool. I wish the restaurant menu had more food options. I also wish they didn’t charge for parking. The shower is very noisy. Everything was needed in the room.
- 5/5
Convenient location if you are going to Seaworld!
- 5/5
The Dana is a beautiful resort. Once you enter, you are emerged in a tropical paradise, totally removed from busy life of San Diego! The lush tropical plantings, gardens, pools and the marina put you in another world. The grounds are meticulously maintained, the hotel and restaurant staff are friendly, and helpful.
- 5/5
The pools were great! Kid approved.
- 5/5
Great stay. Room was clean and modern. Very comfortable.
- 5/5
This hotel was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed dog friendly, great staff. The beds were so comfortable. The pool area was amazing super clean definitely would come back.
- 3/5
The charge of $35 a night to park your car was excessive though. First time I have ever been charged at a hotel that wasn’t in the city center. With the parking fee and the resort fee it added nearly $50 a night to my stay that I wasn’t expecting.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay for our family traveling with a 3 and 6 year old. The pool was big hit, and the kids especially loved the nightly poolside movies. Loved the proximity to Mission Beach and SeaWorld.
- 5/5
The entire stay was great!! The staff were nice and the amenities plus resort restaurant was great!! Only thing we didn’t like was the pillows, for whatever reason they weren’t that comfortable for us but otherwise, I would 100% recommend this place.
- 4/5
Very relaxing, nice hotel. A little outdated in rooms but beautiful outdoors landscape and great location.
- 5/5
We enjoyed several meals at their Firefly restaurant with very nice garden area seating. Very nice overall stay.
- 5/5
Recommended for good time and relaxing room.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing
- 5/5
The staff was friendly. The pool was heated & nice. The restaurant was very nice.
- 4/5
Nice resort. $35.00 per night parking is awful...shouldn't be a charge for parking while staying here!
- 5/5
Nice clean hotel,friendly staff !
- 5/5
It was a great resort
- 4/5
Room are a little dated, but they cleaned them everyday we were there. Was nice to have a good restaurant on site and to have a bar at the 2nd pool. Staff was very friendly and the location is great!
- 5/5
clean room, staff accommodating, gym was enough, laundry was perfect
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff was friendly
- 5/5
Loved the beautiful grounds, nice pools and quaint restaurant near the pool. Great walking/biking path and marina. Enjoyed the proximity to both ocean and bay activities. Out Room was spotless and well serviced.
- 5/5
The property was amazing the staff was friendly we went to both pools 10/10 the firefly restaurant was a 10/10 and had a lot of families there would recommend this place for families very family friendly environment!
- 5/5
Great location! Walking distance (1 mile) from Mission Beach. I would stay here again.
- 3/5
Responsive Front Desk
- 5/5
I Love this property! My family has stayed here three years in a row, and it's first class every time. The room, the staff, and the restaurant are incredible!
- 5/5
Very nice property with relaxing atmosphere. Check in and check out was easy with friendly staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. Walking around the property during evening hours was very relaxing. Only negative was the window shaking airplane noise for like an hour in the morning. This seemed like a daily scheduled air force training of some sort. 15 minute drive to downtown and other interesting areas. Beaches along the roads of the bay were very nice. We will come back to this place when in San Diego.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and attractive. The view was wonderful and the staff accommodating.
- 3/5
Nickeled and dimed on all the pieces. Parking fee, but then you can't get a parking spot because they're trimming the trees. Seems like the right time to make parking free for the day.
- 5/5
Views were incredible, staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
We had a great time during our stay at this hotel! The location is phenomenal. You have the option of walking to the beach, the marina, and Sea World! They also have a shuttle available. The gift shop was super cute with the friendliest of staff. We look forward to our next stay here already!
- 5/5
Got a VIP treat because of being a member of Hotels.com
- 4/5
We loved staying at the Dana with the incredible views that allow us to take breathtaking walks around the bay. Service at the restaurant is always top notch but fell short Saturday night around 7pm trying to order desert to go and drinks while waiting and the hostess was absolutely clueless. Rates to rent paddlebaors, boats hourly is highly priced.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice and accommodating and the room was comfortable (however, a little small with two beds). Everything was clean and we loved the amenities such as the microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Beds were comfortable and we had a good night's rest.

Room was perfect! Clean and the beds were comfy, especially the pillows. The grounds are gorgeous and we can’t wait to come back and stay longer!
- 2/5
Lobby staff was great, room was clean but out of date. The staff at the restaurant staff weren’t very attentive and the food was subpar compared to previous visits which was disappointing.
- 4/5
The pool was beautiful and everybody at the front desk and gift shop friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Very nice room, bed was comfortable and staff were very accommodating.
- 5/5
The check in was fast and there were added oerks for discounts on lots of thhinngs. Tthe room was nicely appointed and clean.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for us. The pool and hot tub were amazing. Welcome drink was appreciated. $35 parking and $23 resort fee extra. Room was older but clean.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable beds. The daily resort fee and the price of parking were steep.
- 5/5
Amazing place , we will come back for sure , Marina view , food , pools , I love everything.
- 5/5
Clean room, beautiful grounds
- 5/5
We loved it. We’ll absolutely be back.
- 5/5
Great pool area and restaurant. Room overlooking the bay was spectacular! Front desk staff and gift store staff also super helpful and friendly. I'll be back!
- 5/5
Courteous staff. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast and restaurant service.
- 4/5
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The grounds are beautiful.
- 4/5
Clean room, beautiful grounds, great pools, awesome location!
- 3/5
The room was OK. I had to unplug my refrigerator because it was so noisy. Also, the restroom could use an upgrade. Hard to use the shampoo and conditioner bottles.
- 1/5
Amenities and noise were below expectations. Pay for parking but no parking when return to room
- 5/5
Would have been helpful to know specifics of resort fees and parking up front.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Resort amentities were very nice. View was absolutely gorgeous. Quiet and relaxing stay.
- 3/5
The room was in good condition, but I think the last time we stayed, we were in the newer part of the hotel. I remember having a patio with beautiful views looking out at the marina, and loving the moon shaped pool! This time felt much more cramped, and our patio just led out to the pool. Bleh.
- 5/5
Great location, very clean. Walking trails everywhere.
- 5/5
The room was clean, and nicely decorated.
- 5/5
The room was clean, staff were friendly and pool clean. This is our go to hotel for our staycations . We will be back in couple of months !
- 5/5
Clean room and comfortable. Perfect spot for vacation close to the beach and Seaworld
- 3/5
Oooofff I guess the Dana is a real 3 star place, not horrible but very far from a resort. Room was clean but nothing special, only one restaurant w/mediocre food and very humble amenities :|
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Great pool area by the bay and restaurant.
- 5/5
Great location, fantastic views!
- 5/5
Attentive cleaners, easy check in and check out. Property is beautiful.
- 5/5
Very friendly. Comfortable bed. Great pool. All I need.
- 5/5
It was so beautiful and easy access other points of interest. Also staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you to Justin for helping me with a billing question.
- 5/5
Room service was great, the facility was clean and very nice. My daughter was so excited for the dive in movie every night! Location was perfect 10 minutes from downtown, 7 minutes from the ocean. 15 minutes from the zoo. Would definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
It was a great place and loved it
- 4/5
Nice large, clean room in a good location. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was helpful and courteous. Loved the heated pools and hot tub!
- 5/5
Every single staff member in every single interaction was pleasant. Room and pool immaculate. Housekeeping excellent. Just about perfect.
- 5/5
Beautiful we love staying here . Nice the whole place is wonderful. The only negative is that when i book through the app, my quoted price should be what i pay. There where all kinds of extra charges.
- 5/5
All Staff was very friendly. I was allowed to check in early no questions asked. I will definitely be going back.
- 4/5
Had good interactions with front staff. The room was clean. Just stayed one night and didn't explore the rest of the facility. Near Sea World and other attractions.
- 4/5
Good service and clean but the room was dated and old, could use an update.
- 4/5
The sheets and bedding were a little thin and threadbare. The lights in our room flickered constantly. The bathroom and shower were fine, nothing extraordinary. The location and views were really good. Overall, very good place to stay.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and staff super friendly! I’ll be back
- 1/5
Room was full of bugs. Mainly ants with some earwigs and mosquitoes. AC didn’t function, room was hot even with it being 57 degrees outside. Room smelled old and moldy.
- 5/5
This hotel is beautiful. They have heated pools which my son loved, They have a shuttle to SeaWorld for a fee. The onsite Restaurant was delicious 😋. The customer service was one of the best in a while. We will definitely come back soon.
- 5/5
Great place in a good location. Staff was helpful. Facility and rooms well taken care of.
- 5/5
Amenities and staff
- 5/5
Nice hot tub
- 3/5
Pool was conveniently by room but we were told movies would be down at night
- 5/5
Great great great staff
- 4/5
The room was large and comfortable and the facilities were good. However although the hotel resort charged us the correct room rate and tax, I wasn’t expecting the additional $20 per night “resort fee” nor the $35 per night for parking. A total of $55 per night extra makes the room rate not such good value.
- 4/5
Beautiful property, nice staff, complementary drinks upon arrival, in room coffee
- 4/5
The room was very clean, and the staff were very helpful.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Clean room, helpful staff, good location
- 5/5
Nice location. Clean
- 5/5
I love staying at the Dana! My daughter and I always have a great time. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are super clean!
- 5/5
Housekeeping staff is exemplary. Very friendly yet professional and discreet. Clean rooms. Of course the views are unrivaled, Sea World fireworks on full display. The grounds are tropical, fantastic pools. Very well maintained property.
- 5/5
Amazing stay! Highly recommend this great spot.
- 5/5
Fantastic staff/service and beautiful views. What more could you want? This property is within walking distance of sea world and mission beach, but because of its location on the bay, you feel secluded. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back! Thank you again!
- 5/5
Loved the place
- 3/5
Plastic cups in the room.
- 4/5
Great amenities the pool area was great
- 5/5
Clean rooms, but small. Good pools and amenities. Had to pay additional parking and resort fee.
- 5/5
From the moment we walked through the door, the lady who checked us in was absolutely amazing. She was so kind, patient, and welcoming that she instantly made me smile. We stay at this hotel often, but this was the first time someone made us feel this genuinely welcomed. Her positive energy truly set the tone for our entire vacation. She made such a lasting impression, and I sincerely hope she is recognized for the exceptional service she provides. I also want to recognize the gentleman working at the Fire Fly bar. My husband shared how helpful and kind he was. He took the time to explain everything clearly and helped him understand exactly what he was looking for. He was there both days we visited and was consistently excellent. Both of these team members went above and beyond, and they truly made our experience memorable. Thank you for having such outstanding staff. Cleaning staff as well, that help pick your room the following day. Thank you all so much. We love staying at this hotel.
- 3/5
For as pricey as this place was, i expected so much more. We stayed there many years ago and it seems they havent maintained it, as its so outdated. So many notices and warnings about "tracking pool towels" and making sure they get returned. You would think they were luxury. They were so tiny and so worn out, they were practically see through. If it wasnt for the location, i would see no reason to stay here.
- 5/5
We had such a great time. Everything was good, and the hotel is close to every popular landmarks. Gated parking, gym, room service.
- 5/5
Great location and grounds!
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the children playing in the pool until 9 pm was distracting to my stay.
- 5/5
Fast Room Service
- 1/5
Bed is sooo stiff, walls are really thin you can hear everything! Extremely disappointed with my stay given the price I paid and location. Do not recommend staying here!
- 5/5
Clean room, beautiful pools and delicious restaurant!
- 4/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was outstanding.
- 4/5
The room was good, quite, staff are nice, location is good . The first night the AC wasn’t working and there was no one after hours to fix it which made the night freezing the second night they fixed it.
- 5/5
Great room! Great location and a beautiful view!
- 5/5
Amazing location. Beautiful grounds and so close to everything. We loved our garden room looking out to the tropical pool.
- 5/5
Excellent rooms and beautiful resort. Great staff and service.
- 5/5
Live the accommodations and the complementary upgrade to the suite. Beautiful property with great views of the Marina. Clean room and friendly staff. Will definitely recommend this property.
- 4/5
Room was amazingly clean the staff was awesome! If I had anything to complain about it would be the beds could be softer and Bud Light should be available
- 4/5
The room and the staff were great. The only thing we were not happy about was that they no longer offer the amazing buffet they use to have
- 5/5
Room was clean, views were nice. Staff was super friendly. The restaurant on site was excellent. Great location.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff. Definitely returning.
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff were friendly. The hotel restaurant food was delicious and the staff was friendly.
- 5/5
clean room, peaceful, great staff. Fun mini vaca!
- 4/5
The property was beautiful.
- 4/5
Clean, quiet, staff pleasant
- 5/5
Everything went good
- 5/5
Provides free bottle water every day! This is very good place to stay because they have a walking distance to the marina village conference center.
- 5/5
Great room with balcony to the pool
- 5/5
Easy check-in, free room upgrade, clean room, nice amenities and beautiful hotel grounds.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly attentive staff and great tv setup in rooms.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, great tv setup, staff is wonderful and location is perfect. Stayed there 3 times and love it!
- 1/5
There was long black hair on the shower walls when first got to the room. Maids again missed it cleaning the room the next day so had to track them down in the afternoon. Calling this a resort and charging a resort fee is a joke. It’s a motel at best.
- 4/5
Room was clean and staff was really helpful.
- 4/5
Clean room with excellent views and location. Very accessible to the SeaWorld and they even operate shuttle.
- 3/5
Hotel didn’t live up to what is advertised. Hot tubs were always overcrowded and the activities they advertised were not offered. Ended up leaving a day early
- 4/5
Staff was super friendly! Resort was clean and festively decorated for the holiday at Christmas time. We had fun!
- 3/5
everything was clean and nice staffs
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The room was spacious and the view was spectacular! The bed was wonderful. We also liked the fact that we were no more than 30 minutes from any place we wanted to visit.
- 4/5
We did not eat breakfast on site
- 5/5
excellent service and staff. nice hotel
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Close to amenities.
- 3/5
The room was smaller than the pictures showed and needed to be cleaned. The walls are also incredibly thin. I could hear the neighbors talking all night and the heavy footed person staying in the room above us.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely nice and welcoming
- 4/5
Rooms were clean. Staff was helpful with
- 3/5
the room was in a condition that show its age and that it was well used, the rug and bed. not what was shown in the online photos. I could not stay another night.
- 5/5
Very nice room clean and housekeeping was very helpful
- 4/5
rooms were too cramped and there were multiple spiders in the bathroom
- 3/5
Limited amenities around the property. Property was dated.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with amazing views!
- 3/5
The rooms are ok but our bathroom door was a louvered pocket door that did not latch and rolled open as you were in there. The hidden gem to the resort is the gift shop. Kathrine is very friendly and makes a delicious coffee!
- 5/5
It was nice area and comfortable place.
- 4/5
Clean room. Very comfortable bed. Restaurant and bar on site. Very relaxed and comfortable. Great location.
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Good service but the room is so noise. Easy to hear the steps
- 5/5
The staff were great, the restaurant was wonderful, the pools were awesome. Loved the location and the rooms.
- 5/5
I would recommend this property.
- 3/5
I was charged a last minute undisclosed mandatory $20 per day resort fee which was essentially just a way to increase the room price. They do give you 2 tickets toward free drinks with that fee, but I'd really rather just pay for the drinks. I didn't get access to any special resort amenities for having paid the resort fee.
- 5/5
The atmosphere was excellent! Right next to the marina and the on site restaurant was soooo good
- 5/5
It was great
- 4/5
Tastey
- 3/5
Little cute place and convenient. The bathroom smells a bit mildew-y, understandable due to the moisture from the sea. Great staff and service though.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 2/5
This is 100% a motel. The room was muggy and the walls were thin. The next room was arguing for hours and ee could hear it over the tv. There was a dog barking non stop for a couple of hours. I think the owner left it in the room while they went out.the proximity to activities is a plus and the staff were really nice. Firefly was great!
- 2/5
The only show you surroundings area to lure you in but don’t photos of actual hotel and rooms. Good location, terrible looking resort/rooms.
- 5/5
Great spot, great hotel, great food options!
- 3/5
Front desk was very helpful. Dinner server was extremely accommodating. Breakfast was not $20 (as stated online prior to purchasing), it is a 10% discount at the Firefly restaurant. Nice pools, bay suites were worth the stay while the garden rooms were dated.
- 5/5
The staff members are very helpful. When I talked to them the pillows are a little bit firm to me because I like the very soft pillows they quickly brought me two down filled softer pillows to me. The room is very clean and the garden view is so beautiful. We all felt comfortable and relaxed when we were leaving at The Dana. Thanks for your best service! We will be back when we visit San Diego next time.
- 2/5
Slow. There was a line and only 1 person there for the longest time. And then they charge $35 for parking which is pure blackmail since there's nowhere else to park in the area.
- 5/5
The staff was very nice, the room was very clean and we loved the marina view! The movie night at the pool was my daughter’s favorite part.
- 5/5
Awesome stay.
- 5/5
Staff were very nice, quick check in and out. The property is great for family environment
- 4/5
Get place to stay surrounded by the bay. Room was facing parking where people walked around though.
- 4/5
Nice location grest heated pool, to bad hot tub broke after our first night.
- 4/5
Everything was great I just thought there were too many fees for resort and parking
- 4/5
Very relaxing property with beautiful views of the bay!
- 2/5
Didnt have breakfast
- 5/5
We love staying here. The pool is great for us all. We love the rooms that have patios and our boys can play on the grass right in front of room.
- 5/5
Amazingly helpful and kind staff. Practical guest laundry self-service - vey necessary on a long trip. Highly recommend Dana Hotel.
- 5/5
Super nice hotel ! We've stayed here last 4 yrs. its always clean staff is always friendly
- 4/5
The hidden $20 Resort fee and $35 parking fee were an unwelcomed surprise. The resort fee you could recoup if you got the free drinks. Parking ? Why every person who drives to the place. It's an upcharge.
- 5/5
Nice bay view from room, super friendly staff
- 4/5
Over all it was okay
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
🤗🤗
- 5/5
Always love staying here. Staff was very courteous and the rooms very clean.
- 4/5
No complaints with room or staff. Area was loud, neighbors arguing at 5am, thin walls. No elevator.
- 4/5
Staff members were friendly. It was noisy outside and you could hear everything. The grounds are beautiful and the room was clean. The Kleenex and toilet paper were one ply and very thin.
- 5/5
The room was spotless the bed was so comfy the Amenities were great!! The food at the restaurant very delish
- 5/5
Staff were great
- 4/5
It needs to be EXPLICITLY made clear that the hotel charges overnight parking. It makes no sense for Expedia to offer a package that includes car rental for the hotel to charge you additional parking. The final price only mentions a final pay price at hotel, but it does not make it clear that overnight parking is additional charge. Please for future include the parking fees or ask it during checkout on Expedia if there will be car rental for that to be communicated on the same final price. Luckily enough the staff was understanding and waived the fees. The surprised fees affected my attitude towards Expedia packages for the future.
- 4/5
Our room was clean and spacious, though I didn’t realize beforehand that all rooms have exterior, motel-style access. Because of that setup, I did find a few ants in the room, and the walls were thinner than expected. That said, the staff was consistently polite and accommodating. The on-site restaurant had good food, but the menu and hours were limited. The beach wasn’t immediately walkable, so we ended up needing an Uber. The property in general isn’t close to other businesses, so having a car is ideal. Parking is $35 per night, but honestly worth it compared to multiple rideshares each day. The pool was a highlight. My daughter loved the heated pool and the poolside movie at night, which was such a fun perk and kept her happy for hours. Overall, it was a solid stay and a good fit for families. As long as you’re aware of the exterior-entry rooms and plan on having a car, I’d recommend it — and we would return!
- 4/5
Breakfast was ok just expensive
- 5/5
Clean room with upgraded furnishings. The beds were very comfortable.
- 5/5
The restaurant had good food. The waitstaff were very responsive to requests and very professional.
- 4/5
Stayed there for thanksgiving weekend and the pool was very cold though they advertise as heated. Disappointed
- 5/5
Very pleased with our stay
- 2/5
I was expecting modern rooms and parking included with your room stay. Extra fees are just unexpected.
- 2/5
the lanai room is what i booked however it was awful, it was the farside of the main hotel w/ the marina view would have been better. I was a little disappointed. the room had an awful scent and the soap dispenser is cheap no lather in the showering gel. Horrible quality.
- 5/5
The hotel was excellent, with clean rooms and beautiful grounds. The restaurant had a pretty good menu; I do wish they had a few more choices.
- 5/5
Nice place in front of the water
- 5/5
Staff was great, room was spotless, and map was easy to follow.
- 3/5
I was not happy because there was a groundword/construction site in front of our patio. Blue portapotties and a fence. We specifically booked the ground level patio suite because we had 2 small children. We could not let them out at all. I asked to be moved and they said it would cost me an addition $30.00 per day. Unacceptable.
- 5/5
The room was perfect and it was an upgrade due to my Expedia points
- 5/5
Perfect central location ! Able to hit seaworld, the zoo, Univ of SD, old town easily !
- 4/5
Clean, nice, great bar
- 5/5
This is an extremely nice day. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
Nice property and staff- convenient to many places we went to. The room was ok, not amazing but also not terrible. I do wish there were drapes to darken the room at night as we had a lot of light from the pool coming in. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciate the pet friendliness too! I’d stay again!
- 5/5
We had a family get away visiting Seaworld and this place was the perfect hotel. Very clean, spacious but also not crowded. It’s peaceful and quite perfect for kids or just adults. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our mini vacation at the Dana! My kids loved the pool!
- 5/5
Rooms were clean beds were comfortable grounds were great
- 5/5
Spent 6 nights on a brief vacation at The Dana. The room was clean, well appointed, and the maid staff was great, keeping the room clean and fresh everyday. Parking was right next to my room making it very convenient. The attached restaurant provides a full breakfast and dinner menu which we also found to be convenient, although it is not offered as a part of the room. Very good experience and would recommend for all travelers including kids. Property is also dog friendly.
- 5/5
The food was delicious. We ate outside overlooking one of the two beautiful pools. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly that we felt like welcome favored guests.
- 5/5
Nice clean room, super comfortable and really nice location if you are going out on a fishing trip out of Seaforth Marina. Check in staff were awesome, I really enjoyed the process. The price point was awesome too.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly. You get two free drink tickets with your stay. My room was nicest and I was upgraded to a nicer suite with a nice balcony.
- 1/5
I was charged for parking yet there was NO PARKING available. I had to park in a loading zone both nights we stayed there. Every single morning, we were awoken at 7am by kayak lessons on the lawn directly below our room. At 8am, we were reawakened by someone stomping on the floor with full force in the room above us for 5 minutes straight. The bathtub was miniature, the sliding barn door for the bathroom was very heavy and is a safety hazard waiting to happen. The handles broke off the cabinet doors in the kitchen nook. This place is trying to be modern without
- 5/5
Great location. Loved the view from our patio.
- 5/5
Clean rooms nice amenities and friendly staff. The breakfast was good at the Fire Fly resturant on site.
- 2/5
The restaurant was terrible and understaffed. Food was awful and hostess was rude e.andwas undd . I had a pair of earrings go missing from the room. Room was located near street and traffic noise was loud. Would recommend not staying here
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent
- 3/5
Room had a fairly strong odor, bathroom fan didn't work, cricket that wouldnt stop squeaking all night every night. Facilities overall are fairly nice, but didn't love that I paid for a upgraded suite with a view and got a view of the construction project. Parking and resort fees charged on top of hotels.com fees even though it says included.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff close to many things to do definitely enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
All staff very helpful. Breakfast was very good at a fair price.
- 2/5
Way too expensive you pay for what you pay for online and then there’s resort fees taxes, and forget it. If you have dogs there’s even more fees I ended up paying double than what I felt I needed to and then I was placed in a room where a light fixture Brightened my room throughout the night.
- 5/5
So, the stay started off super rocky. The system, for what I was told, the power grid in the city went out and we weren't able to get key card for the evening which required the security guard to get us in the parking area and our room. OK, no big deal. We got in and I figured we'd get our card in the morning and awesome. THEN, the TV went out literally. So I called and they said they would fix it. They claimed they fixed but nope. I asked them to fix it again and they weren't able to do so which is when they asked to have my family move to another room? I said, unless it's an upgrade, I want a full refund. They gave us a good suite, didn't charge for the parking, and the rest of our stay was worthwhile and very relaxing. Thank you to those at The Dana! The food was excellent and the staff was very understanding and accomodating.
- 3/5
be prepared to pay $35 a day for parking they did not offer free parking.. staff was would stay again but will look for other options for the price we only stayed sat & sunday we did not stay or book friday idk why it says friday Nov. the 7th
- 5/5
Got a suite on the bottom floor Bayside. Room was clean big and comfortable and was nice having a patio that was steps right out to the bay. Was a staycation for me and the wife the Jacuzzi was amazing and the heated saltwater pool was AWESOME. We booked a King Bed Junior suite but found out those are only on the upper floors and since we had our bikes with us asked for a floor level junior suit which are the two queen bed suites which wasn't an issue at all for us and they were very accommodating. Very clean and nice property and the service from everyone at the check in desk was friendly and professional. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant on site Firefly but seemed busy whenever we went to the pool. And they have a nice selection of drinks and snacks in the lobby. Highly recommend the Dana will def be back
- 5/5
I love how the room can see the firework from Seaworld. Parking it’s right in front of the room.
- 5/5
Quiet, clean, amazing location, friendly staff
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
This was such a gem of a surprise for us. We were here for a music festival and I can’t wait to go back and have a stay cation. Service impeccable and the upgrade was such a treat. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable.
- 4/5
Overall, nice place to stay!
- 2/5
Whole stay poor, front desk poor, Firefly so so, breakfast over too quickly for late sleepers/risers, noisy children running stomping on floor outside room early in morning,
- 5/5
Loved the lanai room, it is a walk right out to the pool! Along with a complimentary drink for how many persons that are staying with you! Definitely recommended.
- 4/5
Nice big room with parking. Comfortable bed and nice bathroon. Swiming pool to improve
- 5/5
From the check in to the check out this was a great experience! Staff is incredibly helpful and very kind. Room was clean. Beds very comfortable. Pillows were perfect. Ambiance of resort was a 10 out of 10. Staff went above and betond in all aspects. Pools were fantastic. Night time outdoor movies were the extra touch
- 5/5
The grounds are beautiful
- 5/5
There was no airport shuttle. The place was very nice with great rooms and nice views
- 4/5
Great staff all around wxcellent landscaping and pool. Bike riding the best. Boat harbor right out front of the property. Nice rooms very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
One of the best venues I stayed. Curteous staff, clean rooms, complimentary drinks.
- 5/5
Nice staff! Room was clean and had great views. Loved my stay!! Would stay again.
- 5/5
It was an excellent stay, we upgraded to a Jr Suit. The view of the bay and Marina was so beautiful and relaxing. Perfect to order rm service and watch the last game of the World Series
- 3/5
The staff was nice and the boat doc was perfect. The shower was horrible. It was either scolding hot or freezing cold took me 20 minutes to get luke warm
- 5/5
Pool was the best thing there. Loved the setting, temperature, seating and having towels available.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, staff were very friendly, love the grounds. They were clean and well kept. Enjoyed my stay and would stay again!
- 4/5
Great hotel! We rented two rooms, one was great the other was very mildewy....would have requested a different room but was only there for one night. Courteous staff clean common areas. It also has two great pools that are both heated.
- 1/5
Even though it had been 2 days since I left the room, they entered my room and cleaned it. They took my belongings. They still haven't sent them back to me. I never requested for my room to be cleaned.
- 2/5
Room was not as clean as expected
- 3/5
This is a motel not a hotel! The room doors open straight out onto an open walkway. The rooms get very hot and there is noise from outside cars, people in other rooms, people walking past. The restaurant staff could be much more welcoming and helpful. The food could also be much improved for the price the quality of food and service doesn’t match.
- 5/5
Beautiful location and loved the pools.
- 5/5
Clean rooms
- 5/5
such a great stay!
- 5/5
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Even had a towel animal as a surprise. Staff were very nice. Unfortunately during our planned stay the restaurant and bar were closed. We had to leave the resort to have dinner which was not in our plans. My only complaint was not knowing until we arrived. Not the staffs fault and they apologized and offered other amenities. I would have enjoyed relaxing out by the pool along the marina. Ended up going to Belmont Park which was not in the plans and more of an amusement area. Would consider staying again sometime but would call to confirm restaurant and bar by pool was open or cancel and go elsewhere
- 5/5
The location was perfect. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The amenities were great.
- 4/5
We had a wonderful stay at The Dana on Mission Bay. Clean and comfortable bed/room. Professional Manager James. Restaurant had great food, pool was warm. Property and grounds were well maintained. You could easily walk to Mission Beach (25 mins) but they do have a shuttle that will take you to the Beach or SeaWorld for $5 per person. We would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Would definitely stay here again! It’s in a great location and walking distance from most activities in that area. Room was nice and comfortable.
- 5/5

Nice place. Convenient location. Fun activities. A little over priced
- 5/5
We loved our stay. The only disappointment was the availability of food and snacks. How about a snack bar — or at least a convenience store with food items.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful anytime we had a question. The property was gorgeous with palm trees hibiscus and magnolias. The pools were amazing.

My husband and I stayed here two nights for our anniversary. What a wonderful experience! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and well kept. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Both pools/hot tubs were beautifully maintained. We enjoyed these both nights (movie night at the pool was a nice touch). There was plenty to do for couples and family, on and off of the water. We had breakfast and dinner at the on-site restaurant, which was fantastic. The service and food were excellent. I would definitely recommend this establishment!

Great View, close to the concert!
- 5/5
Have stayed here many times, always a favorite.

Super convenient to what we were there for. Nice property. Friendly staff. Would definently stay here again.

Pool area was great
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful and I mean it thank you very little just kidding thank you very much

When we walked into the room, it smelt like mold. The track of the sliding door was black. Was only given 2 wash cloths & towels. VERY limited parking especially when returning at night. The time the pool closes is early, and when we arrived at 1045 it was packed. For the cost of the room, this was unacceptable.
- 5/5
We contacted the hotel the day before we arrived and asked for a room away from any wedding receptions are parties as we have a daughter with special needs and sensory issues We arrived at 2pm and went straight to reception. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and explained we had been kept away from where the noise would be and we could move into room straight away. Room was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay We ate at the Firefly restaurant that night and had a great meal and the kids enjoyed their food as well. A choice of swimming pools and hot tubs with a movie night all made for a great nights stay. A great improvement on our previous years vacations. Will not hesitate to stay there again when we are in the area Thank you for accommodating our daughter, it made for a great nights stay
- 5/5
We had a good stay. The pool was nice to sit and read but the wait staff around the pool was sparse and not super friendly. They also had back to back weddings both nights we were there that were super loud. They did shut down at 10 but I would probably request a room not near the venue next time. Breakfast at the onsite restaurant was very nice. I would stay again.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay here - area was so convenient for everything we had planned. Our 5 year old loved the pools and the little "towel creatures" that housekeeping would leave! The room was perfectly sized for the three of us, and the staff was all very friendly and helpful! We would certainly come back and stay again!
- 4/5
We loved the location and the pools were wonderful. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
- 4/5
Place seemed to be centrally located. We used Lyft to get around and all of our rides were pretty short. The Dana was nice, quiet and clean. The grounds were very nice and walking along the marina was very pleasant.
- 4/5
Nice property but need to enforce rules. No smoking off balcony means no smoking
- 4/5
Very clean. Pool, hot tub.
- 5/5
Thank you!
- 4/5
The location is great and the room was surprisingly nice. It was great having the bay right outside our window. The staff were also excellent and helpful.
- 5/5
Staff is awesome
- 2/5
Both nights the hotel was having receptions and the noise in our room was horrible and lasted until atleast 11pm
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay here! Stayed one night after visiting Sea World which is only minutes away. Great room, fantastic staff (thank you everyone!), great heated pool and restaurant, a very nice gift shop. We will stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay. Clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Appreciate it the hotel accommodation. I booked it for my brother and my sister-in-law. We were all in in town for the ALS event and it was convenient and close and they love the hotel. We accommodated them they both my brother is handicap so it worked out perfect for him. Thank you to everybody in the staff.
- 5/5
Great hotel in an amazing location. Highly recommended!
- 5/5
Great location midway, to basically everything in san Diego. Easy access to bike trails ( which we used a lot ). Great customer service and nice lobby with drink and snack options. Saves a trip to a convenience store.
- 4/5
Great stay
- 3/5
Good amenities, pool was nice, walkable to all of mission bay
- 5/5
Family environment. Beautiful property on the port. Lot's of water activities. Shuttle to take you to the beach and surrounding attractions. Great food and good staff. We celebrated out 38 year's anniversary and it was the perfect spot for us.
- 5/5
The grounds are beautiful and relaxing.
- 1/5
Room description was not accurate. I paid for a garden view and was put next to the pool. The building is old and unkept.
- 5/5
The room and property were very nice, however, there was loud music blaring every night from a venue near our building/room that played until late into the evening.
- 2/5
We were charged $250 more than the rates at which we made our reservation. At least some of the overpayment appears to have been for parking fees that were waived. It looks like they may have also double charged the resort fees.
- 5/5
Very nice grounds, everything good, but pillows were too plush so it wasn't great on the neck.
- 4/5
Love the location. Nearby the places we want to visit like SeaWorld, zoo and beaches. 45 mins away from Legoland. The pool are nice. Restaurant food and drinks are meh. Rooms are just ok. Nothing fancy. Pillows are bad.
- 5/5
The property was clean and the room was nice and cozy
- 2/5
Undisclosed fees
- 5/5
Very scenic tropical property right on the water . Great food at the firefly and all the staff were awesome . Somewhat older motel style rooms , but that was fine for us and makes it feel more like a tropical resort. We would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Wanted to charge me $50 to check in 30 minutes early. Then after I left, called me 10 minutes later to tell me my room was ready. Parking spaces are not spacious enough to back out and maneuver safely in the part by my room. Very different than the last 5 times I've stayed here. Not sure I'll be back any time soon.
- 5/5
The property felt like a little oasis with palm trees, well maintained grounds, couple of pools and on the bay. We enjoyed our time there and will stay again.
- 4/5
Everything is great. The only thing is one of our bed sheet has lot of sands on it.
- 5/5
Beautiful grounds and very convenient
- 5/5
As of now we are very pleased with our stay
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Property staff is awesome and understanding!
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, the room was nice. The only issue was with the location of the AC, but it was not that big of an issue for us, besides when getting ready in the bathroom and getting blasted with cold air.
- 5/5
We stayed for 9 nights and had an awesome time! Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great stay for the price!
- 4/5
A little dated room but the size was great and the staff were excellent from the front desk to the cleaning group.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and more accommodating than expected. Close to everuthing ! Loved it and will be staying again.
- 5/5
Great stay and great location
- 3/5
Room was clean, a little dated. Pool was nice. Staff friendly. There was a barking dog in room next to me so that was very annoying.
- 5/5
Yes it did
- 5/5
Excellent area, beautiful view, great walking. Convenient restaurant, seating view by the pool
- 5/5
James at the front desk provided excellent customer service. He handled an issue that would have been a headache for us and made sure we were taken care of
- 5/5
Pet friendly, great location close to the beaches..
- 4/5
The hotel rooms were clean, tidy and maintained every day by the staff. All staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. The property grounds had quite a lot of trash around the back portions near the water, but I anticipate that would be difficult to maintain with such a large property. The view from the bay view room way great and it was a very family-friendly environment! We loved the 'dive-in' movies every evening for the kids!
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Some rooms are dated and cost more than they should. The suites are definitely upgraded and really nice.
- 4/5
I like the location with the boat launch next to The Dana. Ted the dock master was very helpful
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
Dry nice facility
- 5/5
This staff was great the view was amazing The movie night for the pool as well as having been able to get to the beach. The laundry area was plus
- 3/5
We loved San Diego, we didn't love this hotel.
- 5/5
Had an excellent time there so much fun the food and drinks were so good and watching a movie at night at the pool was so fun we definitely plan to stay there again
- 4/5
The rooms were fine but it was nice to have good dining options on property. The nightly parking fee was unfortunate.

I arrived on 9/18 Thursday evening. In checked in with polite front desk staff (blond lady). I was placed in a room on second floor 1206 as soon as I walked in room it smelled of sewage. Normally I would think it was the bay. But standing outside near bay it didn’t smell that way. So I went back to front desk 3 times with the escort of security who also confirmed with staff that it indeed smelled of sewage. 4 different rooms (st floor then second floor) all smelling of sewage. No windows were open. Finally the gentlemen’s who I believe was Asian placed me in a room far left room 1201 or 1202 I believe it was. I originally paid for. A Bay view room which was a higher charge I paid. I explained to put in such a room with no view would be a downgrade. He seemed frustrated. I asked to be put in 2000 bldg but he said no. I said could we upgrade to suite and I’d pay difference- he said no. So finally he put me in room 1203 - no sewage smell but no view that I originally paid for. The next day the manager left a vm on my phone after midnight which I found odd. I didn’t hear it til next day. Eventually they took parking fees off and resort fees to get it all sorted. The property is older so it may have problems. The hard workers who man the property are nice people who should be rewarded to patch the place in place and keep it up and running. All in all it’s a bit pricey for what you get but the location is unmatched near sea world and the beach. It was not quiet walls are thin.

Excellent hotel! Was sad to leave, it was so peaceful! Staff are so friendly and it felt very safe!! Would definitely recommend to people!
- 5/5
I have been to San Diego numerous times. Alway had a good time. Stay at the Dana was a whole new experience! 10 stars! I highly recommend it. The grounds are kept up beautifully. There is an abundance of things to do on site.
- 5/5
Amazing visit.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay.
- 4/5
The only thing that I didn't like was having to pay for parking
- 5/5
Quite the pleasant stay.
- 5/5
The property was exceptional very family friendly and the staff was amazing especially housekeeping. They made a little elephant for my son out of towels.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed staying here. It was my first time. A little older facility but well maintained and clean. The staff was excellent!
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Loved that my room had a little patio that had a gate that opened directly to the pool with the cabana bar. It was so convenient to be able to be at the pool and be so close to my room! The staff at the restaurant (especially Bobby) and bar were very kind and welcoming.
- 5/5
Perfect stay!!
- 4/5
Decided to give this place a try for my family of four while visiting mission beach. Not too bad of a place we liked it. Pretty convenient to both mission beach & downtown. Lots of places within miles of hotel. Hotel itself could have been a bit updated up we didn’t complain. It doesn’t feel old but it also doesn’t feel new. Had to clean the room a little upon arrival like doors n knobs & most touched areas but that’s me. Remote had old food stuck to it so I had to clean that right away. Sides that it’s a quiet place, safe location. I liked it. Check in easy. Parking easy. I won’t mind staying again.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Pool area was so nice and relaxing
- 5/5
Great hotel near seaworld. Fun place great for family
- 4/5
I loved the bay view rooms, which were quiet and had a nice view to marina and boats docked. Also liked the restaurant on site and the people were very friendly at the Dana.
- 5/5
Location location location. We had a room with a gate to the pool which was perfect for our littles. We say “Party at the Dana” & it’s a great time for the kids. Warmest pool ever & makes for nighttime fun. Bar cabana at the pool. Location is secure & monitored. We love it!
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
The Dana is a wonderful choice. The staff was wonderful. It was so convenient to the restaurant on site. I recommend staying on the portion of the property with the Bay Side View. The pool on that side is also quieter and more relaxing. I would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
It was as pleasant this time as it was the first time. Thank you, Pierre
- 5/5
They let us rent an umbrella and chairs for the beach. Great centeral location to Mission Beach! We had such a great time! We definitely will come back for another faimily location! I highly recommend them
- 4/5
It was okay, the photos on hotels.com didnt really match what the inside of the hotels looks now. They probably need updating. The hotel room we got did feel like a handicap room, everything felt shorter.
- 2/5
Carpet in the room was filthy, sticky and smelled like urine. Shower was not clean, filled with black hair. The last straw is when the alarm clock went off at 6am, and would not stop going off. Clearly housekeeping needs a checklist to ensure the rooms are ready for guests. I requested 3 times for the front desk manager to call me, and still over a week later they have not called. The only perk of this property is the marina and location. This is the worst stay I have had at this property.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
It's quiet, safe and clean
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel right on Mission Bay. The lanai rooms facing the pool were awesome. The morning cleaning ladies were the best.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our time at the Dana , it’s close to seaworld and mission beach roller coaster
- 4/5
The Dana was BEAUTIFUL!! I took my daughter here for a getaway for her 16th birthday. The property is lovely and so conveniently located near everything! We didn’t realize that it was more a motel rather than hotel with rooms on the outside but it was so lovely to walk the property. It was safe, rooms were comfortable, dining options were delicious and I can’t say enough about the beauty of the property.
- 5/5
We love staying here! Really nice rooms and pool and overall really nice and fun and relaxing environment!
