Reviews
The hotel's location is frequently praised for its convenience and proximity to public transportation, shops, and restaurants. However, the hotel's condition and cleanliness are major concerns, with many guests complaining about shared bathrooms, broken windows, slow internet, and uncomfortable beds.
- Excellent location
- Friendly staff
- Shared and unclean bathrooms
- Poor room conditions and cleanliness

A pretty good room with a comfortable bed, clean bedding, a TV, a table, a chair, and a nice carpet. The restroom should really have a small sink. Most rooms have sinks, so this compensates, and the shower is good.

Bedbugs. Completely stained bed cover. Hair in the sheets. Next to a loud bar. Dirty in general. I found a bed bug and got a refund and stayed somewhere else. Yes, it’s cheap but I wouldn’t sleep here for free.

This place is bare bones, but totally worth the money and very clean. I was a little late leaving and they didn't mind at all. The staff was really nice, as well. I got a room right on Market st, which was pretty loud at night. I didn't mind too much since I was out late every night.

Great value. Could not imagine a better room for the price. Clean, and all furniture you need. Good, clean shower, nice staff. Bring a little led night light and your hold here.

The room itself was spacious, quiet, and comfortable, with a desk that made it easy for me to work. The Wi‑Fi was reliable, which was a big plus. My room faced the street, so there was some outside noise. Installing double‑pane windows could help with this. Fortunately, I had a white noise machine and earplugs, which made it manageable. Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a very convenient location.

Central location, old style Pensione Hotel, Cental bathroom and that's ok. It's all about location! You're on Market Street close to everything you need. Parking is simple but park off Market OR you might get towed. Park and walk. Grab rooms towards the back. Less streetlight glare and street noise.

Room was dirty and had bugs of multiple kinds. I decided not to stay and left early. Staff was nice and lived on site. Obviously price was exceptional, but there's a reason for it.

No heater! ..and in the winter.. Shared bathrooms, which is okay enough, except one of the two bathrooms in my floor had a clogged toilet that was never cleaned/unclogged during the entire time of my stay. Fyi, if you're not an able bodied person there is NO Rlevator, 4 flights of stairs if your in the top floor. Definitely will wind you/workout. Only upside was convince of location to public transit etc, which i was choose the place to begin with. You can hear wvery noise through the old windows. Location to surrounding areas and public transit

Budget friendly hotel. The staff was so kind and attentive! I often choose affordable hotels and they are a complete gamble, but this one was great. Got locked out at like 4am and I was assisted immediately. 10/10

Location Smells weird in rooms, paper thin walls
- 2/5
Shared bathroom on 2nd floor had shower that didn't work. Toilet paper holder broken & taped together. Very cold, shared bathroom unclean
- 3/5
Older but clean and comfortable. No elevator but not to hard to climb stairs. Shared bathrooms were clean. Other guests were very loud and did not quiet down until early in the morning. I wish management would have asked them to turn down their portable speaker. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Moldy and gross
- 4/5
room was clean and tidy but cold was awake most of the night because of the cold.
- 5/5
A very quiet place to try to sleep on your own terms while adapting to the new time zone I had to get 2 extra blanchets because the outside temperature was 11 degrees Celsius at night, and I was only provided a thin blanchet, but the staff was friendly, and they allowed me to get 2 extra ones
- 2/5
Very outdated hotel, with shared bathroom and showers - which I wish was made clearer on reservation. I stayed for one night only with my baby daughter

I Love American Airline. Because is very good service. And friendly service. That why I Love it .

It was fine, but I don’t think I will be staying there again.

Bare bones, clean, good location. So basic there are no hooks or hangers, and not even a box of tissues.

Excellent bargain, clean rooms, and the owners let me store my baggage.

Totally oudated hostel without WC/shower in a room. Everything.

This is a house of ill repute hotel for escorts and streetwalkers. Disgusting. No private bathrooms.
- 1/5
It smellls too much of chemicals
- 1/5
I went into this knowing it would be a little rough but I was not prepared. Part of that’s on me. Didn’t know I had to check for that. Staff was cool. Place was mostly long term rez and just had a dank vibe.
- 5/5
Everything was nice, room, staff and very convenient location to everything!

They were kind and helped me extend my stay in the same room.

Simple place, well priced, nothing fancy but a decent place to rest your head.
- 1/5
Unfortunately it was unpleasant to see a shared bathroom and the bedroom situation not so clean. The quality isn’t worth it.
- 1/5
Shared bathrooms with broken windows. Cold inside. Internet was slow. Weak signal. Homeless people around outside. Felt like a jail when first walking in.
- 5/5
Love this place. Easy. Friendly. Amazing location. Even rented an electric car and charger is across the street.
- 1/5
Horrible on all levels. The whole place smelled like it had been cleaned last time in the 2000s, the lobby doesn't exist and it barely gives you the keys. The room is dirty, stinky, door is broken, bathroom is shared and unclean. A refund would be in order.
- 2/5
Kind of a crappy room. No temperature control, so I froze all night. Useless furniture. Uncomfortable chair. Creepy pillows. Only one electrical outlet. Staff was friendly, but probably won't stay again.
- 5/5
I like old architectural style and this place has it. No my room didn’t have a restroom in it or shower but the ones that they had in the hallways were always very clean. I really enjoy this place and for the price I got what I needed my second time staying here I will be back.
- 5/5
The Perramont Hotel is in an excellent location in terms of resource/transportation accessibility and overall safety. Just a few minutes walk away from Church street station, safeway grocery store, walgreens across the street, etc. Multiple dining and coffee options nearby as well. The bathroom and shower were shared just down the hall from my room, and no microwave/fridge in the hotel room as expected, although the room included it’s own sink. The room was very clean as well. In terms of safety and comfort, I would only book this hotel again if I were staying in the city for a couple of days, but not for a longer term stay.
- 2/5
Anyway, girls bring your own stuff, shampoo is terrible and smell bad, and bring hair dryer they don’t have it.
- 3/5
Gut gelegen. Busstation gleich vor dem Hotel.
- 4/5
good choice for 1-3 days trip
- 3/5
Staff was average. Not too friendly but not rude. Ok place if you just need a bed for the night. Walls are paper thin and i had a guy right next to me(hotel wasn’t full) that clapped his hands and banged on things, was in and out to use the shared bathroom and slammed the door every time… all night long. Keep it mind if it’s hot your only choice is to open the window (which have no screens) and you hear everything. Probably not a good place if your goal is to sleep.
- 5/5
Easy check in.
- 4/5
Honestly the shared bathroom was not an issue like I thought it would be. The location was convenient and walking distance to many cafés and public transportation. We did have several bug bites after the second night, but we are unsure if it was mosquitoes or spider bites. Definitely could be a bit cleaner in the sense of having sheets that one could tell are visibly clean - patterned sheets are not the best for that, and perhaps having a bench in the shower for one to put their clothes on, but other than that, would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location. I wanted to be near the Castro.
- 5/5
I had a better than expected stay here. it was in a good location, and within walking distance to downtown and my conference location. The gentleman at the front desk was really helpful and kind. My room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom outside and toilet was equally very clean. I would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel is very clean and well cared for. The carpet looked new and the walls freshly painted. Nice neighborhood and easy to get around. The manager was very kind with me. I recommend for a budget traveler it had everything I needed
- 4/5
Old-fashioned and charming. Great place for the price.
- 2/5
The price was cheap but you definitely get what you pay for with this one. Solid wifi (after restarting router) and decent quality bed, but they didn't run the heat at night so I was really cold. Shows worked okay. I would definitely not take my GF here with me, went on my own, and I don't think I'd go here again. Staff was niceand helpful though
- 4/5
No frills, character hotel with shared bathroom/shower very conveniently located on market street. I really enjoyed my stay although the bed was not 100% comfortable. It was clean and felt safe.
- 5/5
Good! Simple! Can recommend!
- 3/5
Not worth the money, should be way cheaper

Located right on Market St and a stone's throw from the Castro. Close to MUNI, shops and restaurants. Very chill hotel which met all my needs as an independent solo traveler.
- 2/5
Not even a toilet
- 2/5
Its an hostel, not a hotel. No secured nor any parking lot around. Car got broken into, window smashed.
- 3/5
It was affordable and generally quiet. The wifi was very poor, though.
- 5/5
Love this place. Great location. Easy and convenient.
- 2/5
Great location, nice facilities and lovely staff but unfortunately, the huge downside was that it was crawling with cockroaches, of all sizes. Had to sleep with the lights on to stop them coming out and one morning woke up with one crawling on my arm. That's the only reason I would never stay here again.

I reserved and paid for this room for my young adult stepdaughter for 3 nights. The manager told her he would not give her the room because I was not there. He told her “you can see where the door is,” forcing her to leave, when she had nowhere else to stay in San Francisco at night. I called to discuss it with him and Sam was equally as rude to me. He was unwilling to help us in the situation. And he was unwilling to refund any of the three nights.
- 1/5
Disastrous stay that I cut short and forced the issue of a refund despite severe inconveniences. Between Expedia's terrible customer service and serious security and safety risks posed by this property's staff, this is one of the worst "hotel" stays I've ever experienced (btw, it's a hostel not a 2-star hotel -- Expedia lies!). I'm filing an official complaint against Expedia for contracting with this awful, unsafe property.
- 5/5
Rooms are updated but still basic for a hostel. One of the better hostel accommodations, single private room. Bathroom was basic in the hallway and shower is in a seperate room. Would choose this any day of the week over a number of dirt cheap hotels in SoMa.
- 5/5
Really cute old building. For how old it is, it is well kept with clean rooms and bathrooms. I just needed to stay one night and it felt like I was in old San Fransisco.
- 3/5
Needs some tender loving care. Many repairs need to be done in the bathroom
- 4/5
Close to all the locations and establishments I needed

It was horrible there is no AC the windows were open wen got to room and you have to leave them open because they’re in ac it’s overpriced for a crappyplace
